(@commanderhorncleaver) Can I get the first question from each category for Mx Kerralind~
You may indeed~ :D And thank you!!
1. Age, Birthday, Star Sign
In terms of literal years old, Kerra's almost 11. She was born at the beginning of 1325, on the 20th of the Season of the Zephyr (which, since that's at the start of the year, is January 20, I believe). That makes her star sign Aquarius!
19. Hobbies
Singing, playing the flute (literally, as in the instrument, to be clear), reading (sometimes, but not paperwork), and swimming (recreationally, sometimes--she's not super fast, but she enjoys it) all definitely make this list! And she sometimes does woodcarving in her spare time, too. Her bow is good evidence of her skill--though it's now been crystallized thanks to Aurene's magic and no longer really looks like wood.
27. What’s their family like? Who’s in it? What’s their relationship with them?
Ah yes, we have opened up the box labeled "Kerra's family." It is a large box. There are many people in it.
Please proceed below the cut :)
Kerra considers both Caithe and Trahearne her siblings. Caithe almost immediately got the "sister" label from the moment Kerra awoke. Though their relationship's definitely had its ups and downs, they're closer at this point than they've ever been. Trahearne got the "brother" label semi-tentatively during the level 20 PS (which was Malyck's story in this case), and it was then solidified during their work together with the Pact. They were, and are, close enough that Kerra fully would have died for him during HoT (which was actually a point of contention between them for a bit of LWS3, since that's not something he would ever have wanted her to do; they talked that through, though).
Kerra also has a couple of friends who are close enough to be sibling-adjacent but don't quite fit into one category, and that's Rel and Minei. Rel has been her friend since they ran into each other in Caledon (sometime between the level 10 and level 20 PS), specifically during an incident with the Soundless and the Nightmare Court. They stuck together through quite a few months, separated for a bit when Kerra joined the Order of Whispers and Rel traveled to Orr with Trahearne to conduct more research, and reunited during the level 60 PS. They're very much on the same wavelength about a Lot of stuff, they get along very well and pretty much always have, and they've kept in touch even as their individual lives take them farther and farther away from each other. Minei and Kerra met on Claw Island and bonded, in part, thanks to Kerra comforting her after Forgal's death (though Kerra was not doing great herself at the time, either). The other reason was that they saw through each other--Kerra figured out that Minei was very young to be part of the Vigil, and Minei saw that Kerra was scared/upset. They worked together a great deal during the rest of the PS and continued to work together during HoT, LWS3, PoF, and LWS4. (And technically some of Icebrood, too.) They still very much keep in touch even when they're not directly working together.
I feel like "family" usually isn't talking about romantic partners? Could be wrong? But, romantically speaking, Kerra has Nisha and Canach, which is a story in and of itself that I won't go into here. They are definitely very happy and very in love, though.
Kerra also has kids--Aurene, Rhi, Tev, and Ia! She wasn't expecting to get a daughter when Aurene hatched, but the second that she did hatch, that was definitely Kerra's daughter. She is so, so proud of Aurene, and she hates that she wasn't able to better protect Aurene from having to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders young. She knows firsthand how hard that is and had hoped Aurene would have more time to grow up. Rhi, Tev, and Ia are all sylvari sprouts, second-gen sylvari (but not Secondborn, haha). Rhi awakened after LWS4, and Tev and Ia (who are twins) awakened after Icebrood. They're all wonderful kids, even though they're pretty different, and they definitely consider Aurene to be their big sister.
(And technically she also has a nephew! Sindri, Rel and Trahearne's kid :) )
There's also the whole other complexity that is the Elder Dragons, if you want to factor them into the family tree. Kerra did label/consider Mordremoth to have the position of "grandfather", but she definitely never loved him like family (and hated him, in fact). It does mean that seeing Aurene facing down Kralkatorrik later on was a painful parallel for her, though.
34. What’s their room look like right now?
Cozy, slightly cluttered, lots of things. Nothing too stacked up or messy, but it's a very lived-in room. The bed's made, but not particularly neatly. There's books and pens and paper on a table to the side. There's an amount of pillows that's more than average. The blankets are blue. There's a few assorted posters on the wall in a corner of the room; you'd have to get close to read the text. The window's open. The closet door's open a crack; it got shut too fast and there's the tip of a boot poking out.
47. What was this character’s biggest turning point in their life, something that changed them almost completely?
There's a whole lot of things in Kerra's life that you could point to as things that had a huge impact, but as far as "biggest turning point"? That happened early for her. That's Tiachren.
Sapling-Kerra was, for the first month-ish of her life, almost painfully optimistic. Very bright, believed fully that though her mission was hard, of course she'd succeed. There wasn't another option for her other than for things to turn out well in the end.
She was very excited to meet Tiachren, to start on part of her Wyld Hunt, and they became friends (not super close, but still friends) very quickly. She was horrified alongside him to find Ysvelta had turned to Nightmare, and though she did truly believe Ysvelta could be saved, her duty was to help those in Astorea. The many over the one. So she let him go alone, and he understood--and then he and Ysvelta came to Astorea both with Nightmare, and Kerra was the one to kill him.
Tiachren has never stopped being a recurring figure in Kerra's nightmares. Ever. It's been almost eleven years now. His death is the reason she learned that she can function under extreme devastation, can talk to someone as important like her Mother (for the first time, no less) like everything's normal if she has to. His death is the reason she learned that to complete her Wyld Hunt did not mean that everything would go well, even if the ultimate goal was achieved.
And his death is the first reason the world ever gave her to be truly, deeply, angry.
Kerra keeps the optimism going forward, to some extent. She smiles a lot by default, is generally friendly and a warm person. But it's optimism shaped by knowledge of what could happen. And she keeps the anger, too.

🖊 🖊 🖊 for you!! free spaces for three different kiddos (or just three facts about one! up to you!) :D @kerra-and-company
Aw thank you so much!
Lets give these kiddos a chance to shine. Under the cut are some snippets about 🖊Kerxsus, 🖊Meena, and 🖊Asphreah
🖊KERXSUS
Tumblr media
I never talk about him which is a shame because of all my salads, he might have my favorite design. He is based on three plants in particular, those being a begonia maculata, maple and japanese maple, as well as the red burning bush plant.
I just love red plants.
Kerxsus was my first monochromatic sylvari design, though yellow and green feature as well, his color palette is predominately red. He is my autumnal salad and he's been on my mind a lot lately since I live in a place where maple trees are abundant. There are so many beautiful changing colors right now and so many different shades of reds and oranges and yellows and muddy greens. Muah, chefs kiss. Best season.
Kerxsus is an odd egg. He met a Nightmare Courtier very early upon waking and was intrigued by their sympathetic nature. He does not get very caught up in right VS wrong. He thinks the courtiers have their place. He doesn't like things that are overly dogmatic though, so joining as a formal member never held much appeal to him.
He has a fascination for insects and arachnids, and keeps several as odd pets. He's a bit of a mad scientist type and is constantly experimenting and testing new poisons and antidotes and solutions and solvents and isn't always the most discerning about what or who he tests them on.
He loves shiny things and likes to adorn himself with pretty gems. Sometimes he goes to what some might call extreme measures to acquire pretty shiny things. Very nearsighted. probably a monsterfucker. He likes a specimen.
🖊MEENA
Tumblr media
My beautiful Not-Norn baby. The youngest of all my GW2 characters (not counting sylvari since they are basically born adults) Meena is in the 17-20 ish range. I haven't worked out a ton for her yet so I haven't nailed down the specifics.
But I'd love to spend more time with her character! Her color palette is very inspired by Lady Amalthia from The Last Unicorn, which is one of my favorite movies. And I really love her design - she's fun to draw!
Meena is a human who was found abandoned as a baby in the shiverpeaks and was adopted by a loving Norn couple who desperately wanted a child and felt the spirits of the wild blessed them when they found her. They assumed that a child that could survive such extreme temperatures long enough to be found bust be a Norn, so they never questioned it. She was raised like a Norn, though she never got quite as tall as her peers. Her dad's love her very much and fret over her constantly.
I have a couple different comics drafted for their family. One being of her dad's finding her for the first time. Hopefully I'll get that actually finished someday haha ; ;
I like the idea of her general vibe feeling somewhat fairy-tale or folklore-ish. There's some mystery surrounding where exactly she came from and how she didn't die as an infant in the snow and I would love to delve more into that. I feel like there are a lot of opportunities for some fun environmental pieces and warm cozy illustrations of her and her dads.
🖊ASPHREAH
Tumblr media
They're based on a Purple Queen plant, which my Grandmom always had in her garden!
Their name is a combination of the words Asphyxiate and Freya.
They are more attractive than you and they know it.
While not an official member of the Nightmare Court, they might do the odd job for them every now and again. More of an independent contractor kind of deal. They despise the idea of working under anyone long term. It's simply beneath them.
Asphreah appreciates fine fancy clothes and things that look fashionable and expensive and they dress themselves like they want to be noticed. They wear lavish materials that they hate to dirty or stain and will consider murder over a spilled drink.
When contracted or asked for favors they will accept payment in the form of rare out of print books of poetry and they keep an extensive library of books and manuscripts worth a frankly ungodly amount of money.
They're most definitely a wine snob. They're a snob about most things actually. They hate having things chosen for them because other people are more likely to make shit choices. Unless, of course the choice being made is in their favor.
Absolutely the kind of person who flirts and convinces you to dump your partner to date them, only to dump you not long after because they only wanted to prove they could make you fall for them.
They would rather not perform strenuous tasks, preferring to convince other people to handle things for them.
All in all, not a very nice person, but certainly one that knows their own worth.

horrible nightmare kiddo asks--have 14, 20, 23, and 28 for mad, maybe? :D @kerra-and-company
Ooo excellent choice! Ty for the ask, Bastard Hours!
14. What animal do they fear most?
Whales. Or anything big and aquatic and slightly mysterious. He likes things to be direct and blunt, even if they are trying to kill him. But whales? Something that massive that can move unseen and you might not even know it's there? Horrifying. Doesn't help that he can't swim either so all of open water is just Bad (TM).
20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
I think he would lump platonic and familiar together into 'things he doesn't understand'. He's seen how some of the members of the Court seem to view the Countess as a matron figure, and how some of the guards are friends with each other, but he doesn't really have any experience with those two areas.
He'd also be stumped on how to explain romantic love besides that it 'makes him feel like an idiot'. Meaning he doesn't feel in control and gets sentimental about things, which goes against his nature. Him feeling soft about anything sends warning flags and he tries to shake himself out of it as quickly as possible.
23. How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
Violence, resentment, feelings and thoughts of inadequacy which also turn over into more anger. He doesn't want to be the center of attention or to be in the spotlight, he just wants Diam's attention and when it's given to others he gets pissy. Usually resulting in him waylaying another member of the Court, by waiting for them to screw up or say something or taking it out on a prisoner.
28. Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
Nope. Mad is very what-you-see-is-what-you-get and operates on bluntness along with brutality. Even if it's not something he wants to hear, he'd sooner have the truth. For all his dickery and non-excusable bastard behavior, he is surprisingly honest.
(though some members of the court would claim that it's because it takes more than 2 brain cells to make up a lie)

have 🍒💛💧 for whoever you most feel like talking about! :D @kerra-and-company
i remember i Meant to send you an ask but i can't remember if i Did or not, so if this is a duplicate please ignore it asldjkf, but if it's not, have some free space asks! :D 🧡📙📀 for whoever you'd like! @kerra-and-company
DOUBLE THE ASKS, DOUBLE THE ANSWERS :D
Gonna talk about Myrr, because I’m predictable I love him
🍒 What kind of things do they expect from their relationships? Does this differ between platonic relationships and romantic ones? Is your OC “demanding” or a door mat? What kinds of things do people expect from them in a relationship?
Myrr... Doesn’t really expect much, he just. Hopes for things, I guess you could say. He’s not a doormat, or necessarily demanding... He just. Wants to be cared for, genuinely. He doesn’t expect it though, and honestly it’s more surprising to him that people do care about him!
I’m not entirely sure what other people would expect from him, though. A loyal friend/partner, probably? It’s the best he’s got to offer.
💛 In general, how in control of their emotions is your OC? Do they have a good hold on them or do their emotions control them, not the other way around? What do you think is the reason behind this and is your OC ever concerned about their lack of or good control?
Oh he definitely is more controlled by his emotions. Anger comes easily to him, especially after his fall to the Nightmare, and it’s difficult for him to control. He hates this fact, and is trying desperately to get a better handle on it.
He’s also not good at hiding or controlling even more positive emotions! He claims to hates this as well, but it’s pretty obvious that he’s just more embarrassed than anything else.
💧 What is the earliest memory your OC can recall? Do they know what their first words were or remember where they took their first steps? Do they have any mementos of their childhood they’ve kept such as a stuffed toy or tiny baby clothes?
He doesn’t remember much of the Dream, but he does remember waking from his Pod! It was nighttime, late in the year, and dark. Lonely, too, at least at first. It wasn’t long before he was found by some of the pod caretakers, but those few minutes of feeling all alone in this huge world that he only knew bits and pieces of, stuck with him.
Myrr doesn’t like feeling lost and alone like that.
🧡 Who is your OC’s favourite person? Why is this person the top of their list and have they actually met them (an idol or rolemodel or celeb can be someone’s favourite after all!).
Who does your OC absolutely hate, the one person who they’d sell to Satan for one corn chip? Why do they loathe this person so?
Myrr’s favourite is his Dearheart, Bryokbrann. They met after Myrr was brought into the Nightmare Court, and in Myrr’s mind, Bryok is the only reason he managed to get away from the Court alive.
Carys too, being his and Bryok’s adopted daughter. Her and Bryok are Myrr’s entire world, and he would do anything to keep them safe.
And the person he hates the most? Cerise. The Nightmare Duchess that seduced him into the Court. She is dead, now, but Myrr wishes he could kill her over and over again, for all the torment and abuse she put him and Bryok through.
📙 What kind of subjects (of conversation, of discussion, in school or whatever) does your OC find interesting or engaging or that they can talk for hours about? What kind of stuff do they just find fun?
What things bore your OC to tears and they couldn’t care less about? Why?
COOKING. Myrr goes absolutely HAM over the topic of cooking. It’s become his favourite hobby after escaping the Court, and he will talk your ear off about it.
As for things that bore him... It highly depends on who he’s engaging with at the time! He doesn’t have an interest in art or engineering, but if he’s listening to Bryok or Carys talk about those things? He can listen for hours on end, just happy to see his Dearheart or daughter excited about something.
If it’s someone he doesn’t care much about, and it’s not one of his favourite topics (cooking, guns, and more recently gardening), it will go in one ear and right out the other lmao
📀 How easy is it to shock your OC? To confuse them? To lie to them, to manipulate them? How are they with feelings of trust? Can your OC be trusted?
Due to his trauma involving his time among the Nightmare Court, Myrr is both extremely wary of the intentions of people, but also very susceptible to high amounts of distress if something triggers said trauma.
(There was a time, in the past, where Myrr was extremely easy to manipulate. It’s what got him so deep into the Nightmare in the first place.)
Trust is rough for him, as a result of the above. He has a small network of people that he trusts, and that’s it. He is not likely to trust anyone outside of those people, and can be waspish towards strangers because of this.
If you can get him to trust you though, Myrr is extremely loyal. While he would definitely answer “no” to the question of whether or not he can be trusted, anyone who does trust him would insist “yes”.

have 🖊🖊🖊 for floppy, damia and link perhaps? i don't know much about any of them other than floppy and am eager to learn :D @kerra-and-company
Thanks @kerra-and-company! I definitely have a bit I can say about them!
(Under the cut bc this is long)
Floppy:
So one fun fact about Floppy is that she actually has a bit of an accent.
It’s masked because of years of making sure to enunciate and speak in that very traditionally asuran way, but if she is really tired, or inebriated in some way, it will start to come out.
The accent is a strange mix of the more country accent that nearby humans had, and then some of the city accent from Lion’s Arch (from lionguards). I’m not sure exactly what that sounds like, I imagine something between someone from the American Rural South and like...a Pirate.
Speaking of Lionguards, her home in the swamps was fairly close to the lion road (that while game lore doesn’t really cover it, I assume it had to be rebuilt as Lion’s Arch was only recently re-established), and a trading post sprung up there. When she was a kid she’d go over there and talk with all the trader’s and guards.
I think she definitely ended up with some kind of mentor/parental figure in one of the lead Lionguards there, they’re who taught her how to fight in a more physical/dirty way. They’re also definitely the one who taught her pirate swears/slang and how to down the strongest of grogs.
Damia:
With playing LWS2 and revisiting some of HoT, It really got me thinking how messed up she’d be during HoT.
Damia is part of the pact at this point, because her Wyld Hunt was focused on Orr (like Traherne’s) and it kind of got turned into ‘you go help Traherne or...something idk, so since Traherne leads the pact she’s in it.
Anyways cut to the start of HoT when they go to the jungle and Mordey starts breaking into everyone’s minds. Damia was definitely very quickly and suddenly affected. I feel like she might have had some weird negging voice in the back of her mind during LWS2, but it was nothing new for her so she ignored it. But once they get close enough to Mordremoth for his call to truly be heard, it’s overpowering.
Damia is incredibly mentally sound and strong (she has to be), but her mind is also literally made for wandering ghosts to be able to easily break into, so Mordremoth is having no problem consuming most of her regular thoughts.
So HoT starts like this for Damia: she’s on an airship, everything seems to be fine.. The tiny voice in her head suddenly starts to get louder and louder, she rushes over to Traherne to tell him something is wrong but it’s too late. Vines spring up from the ground and the ship breaks into pieces, the voice becomes overpowering and she falls to the ground.
She can tell the ship is falling apart around her, and that there’s fighting, people are dying. But she can’t get up, she can hardly think with this loud voice yelling in her ear.
So with a bit of her strength, she reaches out and grabs a spirit from one of the first killed pact soldiers and gives them control of her body, essentially possessing herself.
The pact soldier (young and not at all ready to die) is confused and disoriented, but takes this chance to fight back and live for a bit more.
The rest of HoT is spent like this, Damia fighting for control of her mind from Mordremoth, and occasionally giving tips or information to the random pact soldier now controlling her body.
And of course, when Mordremoth is finally silenced and Damia comes back enough to know what is going on around her. It’s just in time to see her older brother(the person closest to her) Trahearne in a horrible state and dying. And while it was painful for her, I think she was the one to end him. Floppy was in a bit of a state and hesitant, but Trahearne was begging for death, so she stepped up and offered to deal the final blow.
After HoT she had a lot of emotions she needed to process, and was pretty broken. I think she returned to Orr (essentially isolating herself) and started work on clearing the leftover corruption from Zhitan.
Link:
I think I’ve said this before but Link was a bit ‘overcooked’ when he emerged from his pod.
His pod had actually been damaged during a nightmare court attack, this delayed his birth. Both these factors affected him in some different ways.
Because his birth was quite delayed (or maybe because the damage to the pod did something to the connection), he doesn’t remember his dream at all, he still has all the basic information of the world, and is actually a bit more emotionally mature than most sylvari (probably because his brain had a bit more time to develop), but he remembers nothing of his dream and doesn’t feel much of a connection to it.
While he was born with improved mental skills and maturity, his physical and motor skills were really underdeveloped (again a mix between pod damage and being in there too long), so he had to go through a bit of physical therapy to regain those skills.
Along with the physical therapy, he was also being checked up on by mender’s a lot since he was born a bit sickly, and I think does have a weaker constitution.
Another thing about him is that he has scoliosis (not too big of a curve in his back but enough that he does sometimes move a bit lopsidedly), and some form of chronic pain. I don’t have a specific label or diagnosis for it, but it’s the type of pain that is always vaguely there and will have bad flare ups from time to time (I think a bit of the pain is also concentrated in his back).
All of this is why he’s been stuck in the Grove for over a year, a mix of ‘your condition is too unstable for you to safely leave’ and also I think just fear of the fact that he has almost no connection to the dream. It makes sense why he eventually got fed up with being there and basically ‘broke out’ of the Grove.

For the ask game, 🌟🔥🌗 for your choice of character! :) -kerra-and-company
thank you for the ask :D I'm really sorry it took me so long to answer this, I've been super busy with revising for my final exams that start on may 4th. I'll pick Ffoirre, my beloved ex-Nightmare Court son. this is long, so it's under a cut
🌟 When your OC loses all hope, who do they turn to first? What helps make them feel better? What calms them down and reassures them? Why?
it took a long time for him to be comfortable doing so, but Ffoirre turns to Efalynn. even after all she's been through, she's still optimistic, still hopeful, and the different perspective helps him feel better. even if he disagrees with the way she sees things (and he does, very often), it's a reminder that there are positives to things, no matter how small. Efy is very different from the Courtiers he used to be friends with, but in a way that isn't tiring like some of the Pact members he'll occasionally talk to. she doesn't say all that much, honestly neither of them are particularly talkative, but just sitting together is reassuring (for both of them, actually). Ffoirre also likes to watch the sunrise when things feel difficult (which I talk about a bit more in q3).
🔥 Is your OC known for having temper tantrums? If not, what gets them really angry? What makes their blood BOIL? Is there any way to calm them down or are they unstoppable? What are they like when they're angry? Do they take it out on their loved ones?
I wouldn't say any of my characters have tantrums, exactly. I think that's a little patronising? but some of them are definitely angrier than others, and Ffoirre is near the top of that list. it takes a lot to get him properly angry, but when he does, he gets Pissed, and it takes him a fairly long time to calm down.
I think the thing that makes him angriest is when people who know better act like he's still part of the Court. on one hand, he sort of understands; even as one of them, Ffoirre knew that Courtiers were untrustworthy at best, and lying backstabbers who'd betray you in a heartbeat at worst. so it makes sense that people would expect that of him. but at the same time, if they know he's denounced the Court and still distrust him when he's given them no real reason to do so? oh yeah, that makes him furious. (also, people being cruel to dogs. he always hated how the nightmare hounds were treated.)
when he's angry, Ffoirre is usually very calm outwardly, but he's prone to outbursts when something irritates him, so it looks like his temper is on a hair trigger. but Ffoirre would Never actually take it out on anyone, especially not the people he cares about. as part of the Nightmare Court, he hurt a lot of people, and he's very aware that he can be intimidating. even now he's not gentle, probably not even "nice" most of the time. but he's left the Court for good and vowed to be better, so even in the heat of the moment, he makes sure to keep it contained.
🌗 Early mornings or late nights? What do they spend their time doing during these hours?
he definitely prefers early mornings. it's a little cheesy, and he'd absolutely roll his eyes if you suggested it, but watching the sunrise genuinely makes Ffoirre feel better about things. it's very peaceful, it's a way to put aside whatever happened in the past day, and sometimes it's a necessary reminder that the world isn't all terrible, yknow?
Ffoirre is a Pact member (not that many people are willing to work with him), so most of the time he's busy during these hours. At night, he tries to stay out in the open where people can see him as a pointed way of saying "see, I haven't tried to murder anyone in their sleep yet", although he's rarely put on night watch.
occasionally, he goes on missions with Efalynn, whether official or personal. she's much more of a night owl than she is, so they take turns being on watch. it really means a lot to Ffoirre that she lets her guard down around him like that. (he's also bonded with her raptor quite a bit during his watches. Efalynn insists on calling the dinosaur Citrine, she thinks it sounds elegant, but Ffoirre calls her Spiky. because, well. she is.)

🖊️🖊️🖊️ for any beebs you wanna gush about <3
Sounds like a plan, thank you so much @i-mybrunettelady! :D <3
🖊️: A while ago you asked me about how Minei joined the Vigil, and I never actually gave you an answer (because Brain and also School, fun times), so I'll take this space to do that!
(Putting this and the other answers under a cut because this got much much longer than anticipated asldjk;fasdf)
Since Kerra's my commander but very much not human, she doesn't ever earn the title of Hero of Shaemoor--instead, Minei ends up involved in that fight. Her adoptive father had been attacked by bandits, and she was traveling outside of the city to grab some specific medical supplies. She jumps into protecting Shaemoor when the city comes under attack, along with a decently-sized group of others, which is how she first meets Logan Thackeray. He recognizes that she's young, but based on her necromancy skill and mannerisms, he and the others at Shaemoor assume she's a young adult rather than a barely-15-year-old kid.
(Also, an important distinction here--Minei actually doesn't take the title of Hero of Shaemoor either, in part because her experience of the event is more a group effort than the in-game version. The reason that this distinction is so important is that she doesn't get the fame that goes with the title, but she does become friends with Logan. If she had earned the title and consequently become more famous, she never would have joined the Vigil--in that situation, it's far more likely that someone would have realized how old she actually was and wouldn't have allowed her to join.)
Logan agrees to help Minei track down the bandits responsible for attacking her father, and they manage to bring them to justice, but her father eventually succumbs to his injuries. Petra stays with family friends, and she ends up more or less in charge of the tavern with Minei supporting her and training alongside the Seraph. Minei considers officially joining them to help keep her sister and herself afloat, and Logan is supportive of the idea, though he tries to assist them as well as much as he can.
The turning point towards her joining the Vigil is her helping Logan and the Order representatives to kick the Risen out of Lychcroft Mere (which follows a similar but not identical storyline as the human level 30 personal story, the main difference being that Minei is more an assistant/trainee than an Advocate of any kind). She learns that the dragons are a serious threat, and she learns to respect the ideals of the Vigil as well as their representative, Crusader Hiroki. The Seraph are directly loyal to Kryta and the Queen, while the Vigil fights the dragons and isn't loyal to any particular nation. Minei cares about Kryta, but she's far more loyal to her sister than anything else, and the thought of dragon minions (specifically the Risen) taking Petra away is particularly terrifying to her. She knows death magic and how dangerous it can be. Zhaitan's corruption isn't the same as her necromancy, but it's close in some ways, and the similarity, oddly enough, is what frightens her. Considering all those factors, when Hiroki asks her if she'd perhaps like to join the Vigil, she says yes.
🖊️: Because this is the Minei space now, you also asked me about her and Grenth (and just her take on the Six in general), so have some facts about that! :D
She received Grenth's blessing when she was almost too young to remember, approximately four years old. Her birth parents both passed away at the same time*, and she, being a grieving, untrained child who only really understood that they'd gone somewhere she couldn't reach, tried to bring them back. All she succeeded in doing was becoming so exhausted that she ended up on the brink of death herself. Grenth was intrigued by this child who was so young and yet fought so hard for her parents, reminding him just slightly of himself. He could not return them to her (lest he return all parents who left behind young children), but he did help guide her back to her body**, and she was left with a strong connection to death--and, in a sense, to resurrection as well. It's the reason that raising minions is what comes most naturally to her.
The reason I compared her to Edward Elric from FMA before (who had the experience of "I met basically-God and still am agnostic", though those aren't quite her feelings on the subject) is that she understands that she was given a gift and is thankful for it, but she's also irreverent at the same time, an attitude brought on in part from growing up more-or-less alone for five years. She believes wholeheartedly that the Six exist and that they are powerful, but she doesn't see the need to worship them for it. Respect them? Absolutely. Worship them? Not really. It's a bit of a thin line to walk as well as an outlier point of view amongst humans, and she learned early on to stop sharing it lest others become scandalized, angry, or both. Her sister Petra is one of the few people who's come to accept her POV, though Petra doesn't share it.
*Minei doesn't know the reasons for this, and she's never really thought to ask. To her, them being gone has been a fact of her life, and she's had so much else going on that she's never thought to question why that is.
**She would have eventually found her way back on her own, but it would have taken longer. She basically got a god-chaperone, which has to be pretty neat.
(Side note: I bet you've read these, Nero, but I just went through all the Parables of the Gods on the wiki, and if you haven't read them please do, they're fascinating.)
🖊️: To switch this up and give you a brief bonus fact about someone else, I've mentioned a couple times now (or maybe only once? unsure) that Ia runs into some trouble with the Nightmare Court. While Kerra (and Rhi) and Dragon's Watch and the Pact are in Cantha, the NMC tries to kidnap the sprout twins. They succeed in grabbing Ia (but not Tev), and they manage to hold onto her for about a week before Cyprian manages to rescue her completely by accident. (It should be noted that the NMC who took her are VERY lucky that Cyprian found Ia first before her parents did. They're dead either way, but one encounter would have been SIGNIFICANTLY worse for them.)
