Anaxa’s character stories all being in mediums that have already been destroyed has me climbing the WALLS. Cerces looking through his memories. A study record that no longer exists. An improvised speech that nobody would have written down. Another fragment of memory that nobody got to see. The complicated bits of his character and explanations for his goals and Why he is the way he is will fade away and he will be remembered largely as a performer and a blasphemer. How will they remember him when so little of him yet remains?

Here’s the first three design sketches I've made for my hoyoverse Amphoreus AU!

Part 2

(long explanation below the cut under the images)

I'm basically plucking a group of hoyoverse characters from Honkai 3rd, Genshin, and ZZZ and attempting to re-imagine them as the Chrysos Heirs of Amphoreus. Its a very odd mixture of characters to say the least, lol

In this AU I'm designing this whole cast as Amphoreus expies, so i.e. the Paimon here isn't the same as the Paimon in Genshin, its just an Amphoreus version of her. They're all from city-states throughout Amphoreus, and eventually heard of the prophecy and joined the Flame-Chase one way or another.

Lady Ataegina (Bianka Ataegina from Honkai Impact 3rd, aka Durandal)—

The first of the Chrysos Heirs of this era, and the person who commenced the Flame-Chase journey. Known for her heroic deeds throughout the centuries.

When she was younger she had a personality more like Kevin, being loud and proud and acting all heroic, but as the coreflame erodes at her soul throughout the centuries, she ends up in a state of being more similar to Aglaea.

I chose Bianka for this role and coreflame because of her similarities to Phainon in terms of her big protagonist energy and her "prophesied hero" role throughout HI3rd. I think she'd be quite fitting as a deliverer. However, to switch things up a bit, I also imagine her filling a similar narrative role as Aglaea, just with a different demigod power. She's the veteran, a wisened and experienced hero, but also a shell of her former self who is holding herself together just to get through the last stretch of this long and arduous journey.

Asphodel (Trigger from Zenless Zone Zero)—

Another early Chrysos Heir, and a dear friend of the Janus demigod. After losing everything and everyone she knew in war, she foolishly swore to get vengeance upon Thanatos, and saw the Flame-Chase as a means to this end. However, with time and effort her views on Death have changed as she experienced the world in new ways thanks to her companions.

In terms of personality she's more or less the same as the Trigger we know and love in ZZZ, so not much to add there.

I decided to choose Trigger for this role for a handful of reasons: one is to narratively pair her with the Janus demigod (who i won't name yet, but should be easy to guess for any ZZZ players given the sketch above lmao), but also because she already had a fair bit of Greek afterlife symbolism in her design.

For instance, in this AU she's an archer so she doesn't have a "trigger" on her weapon to serve as her nickname, but she goes by "Asphodel", which we see in her ZZZ character banner (Sights of Asphodel). Per the ZZZ wiki, the Asphodel is a flower associated with the Greek nether realm. So between that, and Trigger's lore in ZZZ being rife with loss and grief and death, I think it's fitting to swap her into the role that our beloved Castorice fills in HSR canon!

Paimon (from Genshin Impact) —

One of the youngest of the Chrysos Heirs, and thus a recent member. Seemingly blessed with the power of Oronyx from a young age, Paimon found herself at the center of a great deal of schemes and envy. Fortunately, she found a home in Okhema alongside the rest of the Chrysos Heirs, and has sought to uncover the secrets behind her power and the origins of Oronyx itself.

It's Paimon! for y'all who've played Genshin, you know what she's going to be like here lol. Just no Traveler (poor Paimon x-x), and she's a relatively normal person so she's grown out of her child form. But she still has the same sort of innocent and bright personality, a welcome contrast to some of the more imposing figures in the Chrysos Heirs, such as Lady Ataegina.

All the Genshin lore nerds out there, y'all can guess why Paimon would've been chosen to be demigod of Time here :)

what if he actually Did pursue medicine before becoming a sage himself and founding nousporist?

with what the livestream mentioned about anaxa, he's trying to uncover the ultimate truth to amphoreus. using his chance with cerces as merely something akin to a stepping stone in his path to said truth, even if it doesn't align with his beliefs or ideals - because he doesn't care for that. doesn't care if people shun him out for being a heretic or bizarre.

su is Still alive. spiritually rather than physically, and has been playing chess or whatever with an unknown entity.

user dimitriblunt will begin to sound a little insane now; imagine if anaxa is literally just Su. like flat out. and somehow, someway, he's turned into anaxa and got shipped off to amphoreus or something. there have been theories that this entity is actually nous, aeon of erudition. that wouullld tie into nousporist - if we were to look at this from a "amphoreus is cut off from the rest of the cosmos and doesnt know about the aeons" type of way. like, aside from the Actual anaxagoras and not-the-aeon nous. because yeah, that makes sense with his character since he is literally based off of the guy. and it would also give at least SOME context as to why anaxa's ultimate looks suspiciously like the dimension su entered at the end of his physical death (that is, IF the entity su got roped into playing games with was actually nous the erudition. which to be honest, i would hope so but that hope is very small)

as cool as that would be, yet still farfetched, i do think this is just another parallel to su, rather than him legit being su. the real su is still likely playing games in that dimension since we don't have any updates on how he is currently, other than him just being spiritually alive. anaxa would likely already know the fundamental truths beyond amphoreus, too

parallel to su, in the sense that yeah. maybe anaxa also got roped into some weird ass dimension at one point. perhaps when he pulled that "inverted horizon" hsr equivalent and sealed the black tide creations in the grove away, giving away his soul to warn others, and died physically, then got brought back to life by cerces. which perhaps would sort of explain why his body is so???? voidlike????? and cracking as if some porcelain doll. rather than just his actual corpse, william afton fnaf style or whatever

much like how the entity had told su, if you can win against me, then i will tell you what you want to know - cerces told anaxa if he could help them figure out the truth to the "what exactly are we?" question, then they would return willingly return his body and dissipate. so perhaps his void-dimension-like body is a result of cerces implanting the coreflame into him; like a result of them sharing his body for now, that dimension is the common mortal plane for them to converse

and anaxa seems highly confident he can uncover it soon, despite the encroaching (second???) end he'll face soon because his body is decaying

taking me to this lovely post, which talks about a small theory regarding anaxa potentially holding the truth of amphoreus inside of him.

perhaps it's possible that when he does uncover the truth, likely while he does the trial of reason, it WILL be inside of him. he'll have the answers for himself; the truth of amphoreus, and what that means for humanity there

Loveee the HSR Titan lore. Their Kephale (in the Greek Bible head of the church) is Prometheus and he's Atlas. Forging humanity, making fire, holding up the world.

Kevin Kaslana is now Phainon. Who was a man in myth made by Prometheus's hands to be the most beautiful man in all the world.

Prometheus wanted to keep Phainon instead of presenting him to Zeus as he had done the other humans. Some tattling by Eros and Hermes later and Zeus has Phainon. He convinced the young beauty to become a wandering star or as we know it the planet saturn.

so ... uh ... now that it's been a while since 3.0. did anyone else feel like nikador is unsettlingly ... small? not in a plot-related sense, as we know they've had a significant impact on a lot of amphoreans' lives; i'm talking about their physical form. it's all sharp angles and well-defined limbs and blades and ... that's the problem. it's so ... real. concrete. believable. there's no sense that we're looking at a titan. honestly, they somehow feel less intimidating than something unto death (the memory zone meme) in penacony, even though they literally created part of amphoreus as we know it. it implies that nikador is not as powerful as the people think they are.

amphoreus has this weird sense of scale, where everything about the world and its lore and its creation is presented as more grandiose than any of the other planets we've visited before. the maps have more verticality, the characters are more eloquent, there's a whole prophecy, for aeons' sake -- and yet, the titans that the people place their faith in all seem so ... mortal. so easily toppled. every time i think about the titans, i think about oronyx, suffering every time their power is used by the people. if the titans are truly weak, then what? what does that mean for the world they created? what does that mean for the flamechasers waiting to inherit it? in any case, i'm spooked. can't wait for the next patch <3
