La nuova commedia fantasy di Natsume Akatsuki sarà disponibile in DVD e Blu-ray dal 26 agosto!

Dopo essere stato distribuito in streaming lo scorso autunno su Amazon Prime Video, in contemporanea con la trasmissione giapponese, sia sottotitolato che doppiato, l’anime “Kemono Michi: Rise Up” (Hataage! Kemonomichi) basato sul manga di Natsume Akatsuki, l’autore della popolarissima commedia fantasy “KonoSuba”, si appresta ad arrivare anche in home video sempre grazie Dynit. 

I 12 episodi della serie tv saranno infatti raccolti in un unico box Blu-ray/DVD, disponibile nei maggiori store a partire dal 26 agosto.

Il wrestler Kemoner Mask, durante l’incontro per il titolo contro il suo rivale MAO, viene trasportato in un altro mondo, nel regno di Edgard. La principessa Altena gli chiede di sconfiggere il re dei demoni e i suoi mostri malvagi, ma lui si rifiuta e si ritrova braccato dai soldati. Fugge nella città di Cluster dove incontra Shigure, una ragazza lupo.

First Impression: Kemono Michi

Kemono Michi (which I believe roughly translates to “Beast Trail”, but don’t take my word for it) is about Shibata Genzo, a pro-wrestler who had always dreamed of opening his own pet store. One day, he is summoned to another world by a princess who wishes for him to eliminate all magical beasts residing in her world. Being an animal lover at heart, he refuses, instead german suplexing her before making his escape. In the following months, he finally achieves his dream by opening a magical beast pet shop. Just what sort of shenanigans will he get himself into?

Kemono Michi definitely gave off KonoSuba vibes while I was reading it, so it was no surprise when I found out that they were both authored by the same person. He definitely recycled the “dumb characters doing dumb things” idea when it came to this manga. Such dumb characters included Genzo, who claims his love for animals transcends the barriers of species and gender including furries; Shigure, a wolf girl who is responsible for keeping Genzo in check; Hanako, a very hungry dragon loli; and Camilla, a useless vampire NEET.

Anyway, I oddly enjoyed reading the first volume of Kemono Michi, even with its glaring issues. While you can say my taste is trash and I admit sometimes it is, I don’t really care. The reason I enjoyed Kemono Michi is probably for the same reason I enjoyed watching the KonoSuba anime: It's so dumb that it's funny. Overall, Kemono Michi is a pleasant, albeit not perfect, addition to the already overcrowded Isekai genre.
