Luh Ooo (Baby!r x Kellex)
Tumblr media
Request:  First time baby!r says I love you. Basically r is nonverbal and like 3, and preath or Kellex tell her they love her, and it’s the first time r speaks, she says it back
Alex and Kelley considered themselves incredibly lucky every time they saw your smiling face. Every time they saw your lips tilt into a grin, or heard a giggle slip past your lips, they counted their lucky stars that they got to whiteness it.
Their teammates liked to tease them that they were a bit over the top when it came to you, but everyone understood why. Everyone agreed that they would probably be the same way if they had been through what you and your moms had been through.
Alex’s pregnancy with you had been suspiciously easy.
Her and Kelley had both been prepared for the worst after both of their sister’s horror stories about morning sickness and pregnancy cravings that had their husbands running out in the middle of the night. But Alex hadn’t experienced them herself.
The morning sickness had been minimal. It hadn’t lasted at all past the first trimester and hadn’t ruined any of her favorite foods, so she considered it a win. Then the few times she did have midnight cravings, they hadn’t been for food-related items, and Kelley had definitely enjoyed waking up for it (the pregnancy sexcapades were absolutely worth the sleep deprivation).
In hindsight, the 9 months of smooth sailing should have tipped them off that something was going to go wrong, but they had been too wrapped up in the excitement of welcoming you into the world to prepare themselves for the other shoe to drop.
It made it so much worse when it finally did.
Kelley would never forget the moment the nurses laid your little form on Alex’s chest. She would never forget how you blinked up at the both of them and for a second, everything felt right in the world.
For a split second, your tiny eyes met hers and she felt her heart grow to accommodate the overwhelming love coursing through her.
And then…
Their world tilted on its head.
Your eyelids fluttered rapidly, and the whole right side of your face drooped, before either of them knew what was happening the nurses had grabbed you and whisked you away, talking very fast.
Kelley had made a move to follow them, to chase after you and figure out what was going on, but before she could the doctor was back, using big words and describing tests and procedures that he thought were necessary.
The only thing she really picked up on was the word stroke and MRI, and then he was gone again, taking the happiness in the room with him.
Alex pulled her into the bed with her, and both of them held each other as they both fell apart.
Arteriovenous Malformation
A word Kelley and Alex hadn’t understood when the doctor returned hours later.
A word that they googled and re-googled, hoping it would change what it meant.
A word that would haunt them for the rest of their lives.
The doctor said they were lucky because it was near the surface on the left side of your brain. They were lucky because they could operate and remove the tangle of blood vessels that had caused a clot.
They were lucky because it had been caught early before it could cause too much damage.
They didn’t feel lucky.
Not until they were staring at your tiny form through a little plastic incubator box, a large bandage under the yellow knit cap on your head. Not until they could very carefully run their fingers over your puffy cheeks, or have let your little hand latch onto theirs.
The surgery had saved your life, but it had also damaged the part of your brain involved in speech production.
They wouldn’t learn until later how it would affect your development, and they would thank whatever higher power that existed that the only thing that had been impacted was your ability to create words. They thanked the universe that you were such a happy kid despite that.
You loved running around with your many soccer aunts, kicking balls and clapping for your mamas. Just because you couldn’t talk didn’t mean that you couldn’t communicate.
It wasn’t traditional but sign language and the little noises you could make never failed to show the people around you what you wanted.
And while they thanked their lucky stars(and the universe) for the progress that you had made, they both still longed to hear three little words leave your lips.
So yes, the team understood why they were so overprotective and doting. The team understood why they spent so much time working on the assignments your speech therapist gave them, and why they took every opportunity to try and get you to vocalize.
It was why the team tried to help them as much as they could.
*****
You smiled widely as Kelley very gently kicked a ball toward where you were on the sidelines, pushing off of the little blanket you were sitting on next to Bailey (your trusted babysitter).
You clumsily stopped the ball with your feet, steadying yourself with a hand on Bailey’s shoulder and pointing to your Mommy.
You often spent your time on the sidelines, watching your mama’s practice with rapt attention, chasing after stray balls for your aunts and clapping excitedly when anyone ran past you. You knew you weren’t supposed to go onto the field until practice was over, and that any balls that came to you before it had to be returned to a coach.
Kelley’s lips tilted into an indulgent smile and she nodded in encouragement. “Practice is over kiddo, send it back and we can play for a little while,”
Your eyes lit up in excitement, and you didn’t hesitate to kick the ball back toward her.
It rolled towards Kelley and she easily caught it, for a 4-year-old, you had very good aim, and tapped it gently back to you.
You stumbled as you stuck your foot out to stop it, taking an extra second to regain your balance.
“Great job!” Kelley cheered, clapping.
Stopping the ball was something the team had been working on with you (your motor coordination, something Alex and Kelley were more focused on), and you were very slowly getting better at both.
Lindsey joined in, appearing behind Kelley’s shoulder and gesturing to her foot.
Your head tilted to the side and she gestured to her foot again, wiggling it to Kelley’s left.
“Come on kiddo,” Kelley said, and all of your attention returned to her.
You nodded, and hit the ball as hard as you could, toward Lindsey’s outstretched foot.
Kelley kicked out trying to stop it, but Lindsey was faster, collecting the ball and turning to send it toward Emily with a laugh.
“You little monster,” Kelley huffed indignantly, earning a delighted giggle from you and chuckles from the team fondly watching the interaction. “You’re supposed to be on my team,”
You shrugged, pointing to your foot so Emily would pass it to you.
She did, kicking the ball gently (dangerously close to Kelley) and your mommy “missed” her chance to intercept it, so you could catch it instead.
The team clapped when you did, again taking a second to catch your footing before pausing with your foot on top of the ball as Kelley took up a defensive position in front of you.
Your eyes immediately fell to her feet.
You knocked the ball right and then left before sending it through her legs, copying your Mama’s famous move, brushing past Kelley as you raced after the ball.
Several hands extended in case you tripped, even as the team fell into formation behind you.
“I’m gonna get you,” Kelley called as you passed, collecting the ball with your little feet and charging towards the net.
You squealed as Kelley chased after you, doing your best to keep the ball on track as you got closer to midfield.
“Y/n,” Mal called, joining your run, and gesturing towards the wide open space in front of her as Kelley easily gained on you.
You clumsily passed the ball sideways, just as you heard your mommy’s footsteps behind you.
“Come on, it can’t be 6 vs. 1,” She groaned, sprinting towards Mal instead.
“It’s only 5 and a half versus one,” Emily shrugged, taking up your other side as Mal crossed the ball towards Lindsey. “And Mini Morgan is too cute to play against,”
Kelley threw her head back, arching her run to try and get to Lindsey, but it was already too late. Lindsey pushed the ball, sending it in front of Emily so it landed right in your path.
You wobbled as you collected it, slowing down as you nearly tumbled over the ball.
It gave Kelley the perfect opportunity to gain on you.
“Y/n pass it to your Mama,” Lindsey directed, pointing towards Alex making a run to the box as Kelley got closer.
You hadn’t realized your mama was playing too.
She smiled widely, gesturing towards the giant space in front of her, and you slowed your run just enough to kick the ball mid-stride into Alex’s path.
It went slightly off-target, but Alex had no trouble collecting it and sending it into the back of the net.
“Goalllll,” Lindsey, Emily, and Mal cheered as Kelley finally caught up to you, scooping you up and gently tossing you in the air.
“You’re a little gremlin,” She said, ticking you relentlessly even as she tossed you up and down.
You giggled loudly, reaching for Alex as soon as she was close enough.
Kelley passed you to her with little hesitation, and you patted Alex’s cheek. She was always the calmer of the two women, dancing you around but not nearly as much as Kelley did.
You signed goal several times with your little hands and animatedly rehashed the entire play for them as though they hadn’t been watching it.
They both shared a look and smiled gently at you.
“I love you,” Alex said, leaning in and placing a kiss on your cheek after you finished, your aunts circling up around you.
“Luh ooo,” You repeated, tapping her cheek again.
The team froze.
Yes, they had heard you giggle, and cry and make noises, but nothing had ever come close to sounding like a real word.
“Wait,” Kelley said, stepping closer to you, her hand landing on your back and rubbing circles. “Y/n say love you?”
Your eyebrows furrowed. “Luh ooo,”
“Oh my god,” Alex breathed out and Kelley sniffled next to you, trying to hide her tears.
“We love you too baby,” Kelley said, through trembling lips, kissing the side of your head.
“Luh ooo,”  You repeated for a third time, frowning because both of your mommies looked sad, leaning up and placing a kiss on Alex’s nose just like she did any time you looked sad.
“We love you more than anything,” Alex added, doing her best to hold the tears at bay.
She had never been more happy to hear 3 little words in her entire life.
It was everything Kelley and Alex had ever wanted.
“And we love you too, short stack,” Emily said, throwing an arm over Kelley’s shoulder and using her other to tickle your tummy, interrupting the tender moment.
You squealed with delight and wiggled widely in Alex’s arm, signaling that you would very much like to be put down, so you could run around with your aunts again.
Alex squeezed you tightly for another long second before she let you down, kissing your forehead one more time before you ran off.
“She said I love you,” Kelley sniffled, tucking her nose against Alex’s neck once she was upright, both women staring at you.
“I know,” Alex said tearfully.
The doctors always said it was a matter of time. Now, they could finally believe them.

No Excuses (Kellex Imagine)
Tumblr media
Mentions of abuse.
“I’m sorry,” you said as your parents dragged you off into the parking lot. Your father shoved you against the car and your mother held him back long enough to check for other people.
“There are no excuses for that bullshit I saw out there! I didn’t pay for you to come all this way to make such a rookie mistake! I thought you were better than that, obviously you’re nothing more than a disappointment.” Your father’s words were harsh, but his hand was harsher. He slapped you across the face and immediately your hand went to cradle where he had hit you. He hit you again, this time slapping your hand as well.
“I really thought you would do better,” your mother said to you as your father continued to hit you. You weren’t sure how long it would go on, but eventually you were on your hands and knees in pain. Your father got into the car and so did your mother. You were about to get into the car whenever Kelley stepped in front of you.
“Come on,” Kelley said and Alex appeared out of nowhere. You could barely hear her screaming at your parents as Kelley took care of you. Alex came back after she was done arguing with your parents and she was holding your suitcase.
“We’d like it if you stayed with us,” Alex said and you nodded.
“If you’re sure I won’t be a bother.”
“Trust us, you could never be a bother,” Kelley assured you.
“But I played like a bother today. I’ve had training, there are no excuses for my booking,” you repeated your father’s words. They were ingrained in you and you hated that more than anything else.
“The only thing that there’s no excuses for is how they treated you. That’s not okay and it’ll never be, but nobody will treat you like that so long as we can help it,” Alex promised. Kelley pulled you into a hug and Alex wrapped her arms around both you and Kelley. You felt safe for the first time forever and a part of you knew that Alex would keep her promise.

Kellex VS Preath (USWNT x Reader)
Tumblr media
Anonymous Request: USWNT x baby of the team where she’s new and just socially awkward and Preath and Kellex fight over who would be their team moms
You were ABSOLUTELY terrified, so terrified you were trembling.
A call up to the USWNT was something you never expected, but the second you joined the NWSL you turned heads, turning enough heads in fact that you were about to compete with THE best of THE best.
“You alright?”
You jump, turning abruptly towards the women standing beside you, those women being Christen Press and Tobin Heath, the two women grinning.
You swallow hard, attempting to swallow the lump in your throat.
“Wh- You’re...” You stammer, the two women sharing a glance.
“Breathe kid.” You feel a pat on your back, jumping when you realize the person behind you is Kelley O’Hara, Alex Morgan standing beside her.
“You’re...”
The four women smile and you clear your throat, cheeks blood red.
“Sorry, I’m just...”
“Scared to death?” Alex asks and you nod, shuffling from foot to foot.
Tobin throws an arm around you and you stiffen, the happy go lucky forward grinning.
“Well, don’t worry, we’ve got your back.”
You hear a hum before another arm slips around you, this one belonging to Kelley.
“Well, so do we.”
Alex’s eyes widen as she glances at Christen, Kelley and Tobin staring at each other with narrowed orbs.
Meanwhile you stand in the middle, eyes wide.
You don’t realize it, but in that moment, you had become the prize in a battle between the two women with their arms around you, and by extension, the two women standing behind them.
                                                           ***
“We can’t let them win.” Kelley growls and Alex snorts.
“Win what?”
Kelley nods across field, seeing you sitting in between Christen and Tobin on the bench, the two women grinning as Christen ruffles your hair.
“Look at them, already acting like her team moms, that could be us, SHOULD be us.” Kelley spits angrily and Alex snorts.
Alex can’t help but grin as you give Christen a small smile, though you still have issues maintaining eye contact, fidgeting nervously between the two women.
Kelley smirks as she glances at Alex, a familiar sparkle in her blue orbs, a spark of competition.
“Ohhhhhh, I know that look.” She rubs her hands together and Alex grins.
It’s then that Christen and Tobin look across field, seeing the two of them smirking at them across field.
Christen’s green orbs narrow as she glances at Tobin, their shared smiles completely missed by you.
“Oh, it’s SO on.” Alex whispers and Kelley nods.
“Fuck yeah it is.”
                                                           ***
It wasn’t only Tobin and Christen who’d taken you under their wing, but Kelley and Alex as well, the two women making you feel just as welcome.
If you were being honest though, you were terrified. Having so many talented women taking you under their wing was overwhelming in a sense considering you’re absolutely awkward when it comes to social situations.
“Hey, you okay?” Mallory Pugh asks and you nod, fidgeting.
“I’m just uhh... Not the best at... Socializing?” You wince, the forward giggling.
“I understand, it’s definitely scary, but everyone here is really nice.”
You’re completely unaware of the conversation going on between Preath and Kellex at the back of the bus.
“Would you look at that...” Tobin smirks, glancing at Kelley whose eyes narrow.
“Yeah, looks like Y/N and Mallory are bonding.” Christen shrugs, and Alex growls.
“Doesn’t mean anything.”
Tobin hums.
“I think it means a lot of things...”
Kelley scoffs.
“Well, you’re wrong.”
Tobin smirks.
“Someone seems a little agitated... Maybe because she knows someone would like US as team moms...” She shrugs and Alex scoffs, even louder than Kelley.
“Not a chance Heath.”
Christen smirks.
“We’ll just have to see who Y/N picks, but from where I’m sitting we’re winning.”
Kelley snorts.
“Dream on Pressy.”
                                                           ***
The sound of clanking glasses and crashing dishes makes you jump, but it’s then you realize that Kelley is sitting in the seat beside you, panting, Alex on your other side.
Tobin and Christen settle across the table, the two glaring at Kellex, much to your confusion.
“Y/N, look...!” Emily leans across the table with her menu and Kelley scowls.
“THAT is an alcohol menu, Y/N is a baby.”
You pout, your bottom lip hanging out and Kelley gives you a playful nudge.
“They’re always like that.” Tierna giggles and you smile, glancing at Kelley, the defender grinning as she shrugs.
“That’s what happens when you’re team babies.”
You fidget.
“So, I’m a team baby?” You ask and Alex giggles, ruffling your hair.
“Yeah, you are.” She grins and your cheeks flush.
“Now you just need team moms.” Kelley whispers, her eyes narrowed as she glares across the table at Tobin, the forward grumbling under her breath.
Your brows furrow, the tension between Kelley and Tobin palpable, the same tension hanging over Christen and Alex, the two women staring narrow eyed across the table.
You shake your head, as per usual, remaining silent.
                                                           ***
You knew skirmishes weren’t fun and games, but watching Kelley and Alex go up against Christen and Tobin was like watching the USWNT compete in a World Cup, the four women tearing up the field, making tackle after tackle until Christen eventually sinks the ball into the back of the net, Tobin walking over and wrapping her arms around Christen, sending a triumphant smirk towards Alex and Kelley, the two growling.
“How does it feel to be the rope in a middle of a tug of war?” Emily pats your back as she flops down on the bench beside you and your brows furrow.
“I-I-I don’t know what you mean...” You frown, the blonde grinning as she nods to the field where Alex and Kelley celebrate a goal, Tobin and Christen glaring on.
“They aren’t usually like that, but they’re fighting over you.”
You turn towards her, eyes wide and cheeks blood red.
“Wh-What?! Me!?” You stare at her, eyes bulging and she nods.
“Yep little wall-flower. You.”
You shake your head rapidly.
“Why me? I’m just-” You motion to yourself and Emily chuckles.
“They take being team moms VERY seriously, and they’re fighting over which couple are going to be your team moms.”
You scoff, shaking your head in disbelief.
“Why would anyone fight over me?”
Emily jumps to her feet, ruffling your hair.
“Because you’re a cutie.”
Your cheeks flush.
“I’m not a cutie.”
                                                           ***
The following month it becomes VERY apparent that the two are fighting over you, which you STILL couldn’t believe.
“You alright?”
You jump, turning to Alex, the forward grinning as the two of you walk down the strip’s sidewalk, littered with multiple buildings, clothing stores, etc.
Kelley swipes the snapback off you head and you smile softly, the defender plopping it onto her own head.
“I should’ve known you’d be into snapbacks.” She teases, fiddling with the hat before placing it back on your head, just the way you had it.
A sudden whistle makes you jump, Kelley and Alex sharing a glance when they see Christen and Tobin making their way towards them.
“Oh, what a coincidence!” Christen places a hand on her chest, her lips split in a grin.
Kelley growls.
“Yeah, real coincidence.”
Tobin throws an arm around your shoulder, nodding to your hat.
“Nice.” She smirks and you smile, cheeks flushed.
“Th-Thanks.”
“What do you say we get something to eat?” Alex smiles and you nod, noting the way everyone glances at one another, the spark of competition in their eyes.
This was going to be an interesting lunch.
                                                           ***
Lunch had of course been interesting, Tobin and Christen winning the fight when it came to sitting beside you, Tobin and Christen grinning whereas Kelley and Alex are glaring across the table at them.
The tension becomes too much for you and you move to your feet, smacking your hands on the table.
“OKAY THAT’S ENOUGH.” You yell, the USWNT veteran’s staring up at you with wide eyes.
“Y/N...” Christen starts and you shake your head.
“NO! YOU GUYS TREAT ME LIKE I’M SOME PRIZE TO BE WON AND I’M NOT.”
You glance around with wide eyes, your cheeks blood red when you realize everyone’s eyes are on you.
In an instant you’re slipping from the table and running out of the restaurant, leaving a guilty Kellex and Preath behind.
                                                           ***
It’s hours later when a hesitant knock sounds on your hotel room’s door, a few seconds later the same door creaks open.
“Y/N?” You hear Tobin whisper and you sigh, burying yourself in your blankets.
“Go away.”
Alex frowns as she moves to the bed, she and Christen sitting down beside you.
“Y/N, we’re sorry.” Kelley sits at the end of the bed, patting the lump under the covers and you sigh, poking your head out from beneath them.
“You’re right, we were treating you like a prize, and you’re not, we just... We want to...” Tobin sighs and you sit up, your eyes narrowed as your eyes dart from guilty face, to guilty face.
Alex takes a deep breath, her hand on your back.
“You’re the team baby, and we want to make sure you know we love you.”
Your cheeks flush as you glance down at your lap, your fingers nervously fiddling with one another.
“I know you do...” You mumble, leaning against Christen, the forward smiling.
“Did you ever think maybe I’d be fine with all of you being my team moms?” You ask, everyone’s eyes widening as they share a glance, all grinning.
“Well we didn’t think of that...”
                                                           ***
Emily rolls her eyes, smiling as you snuggle between Kellex and Preath, the four women snuggled around you.
Since you’d made the USWNT roster, the four were more than excited considering their baby had made the team.
Your cheeks flush as Alex ruffles your hair, the woman kissing the side of your head.
“We’re still sorry about what happened Y/N.” Tobin whispers and you smile.
“I know, but I think you’ve more than made it up to me AND I did get four team moms out of the deal.” You smirk, the four women shaking their heads.
When it was all said and done, the only thing better than having two team moms was having four.

Hand in Hand~Alyssa Naeher x Ashlyn Harris
Tumblr media
Prompt: there's a picture out there that looks like Alyssa is proposing to Ash so, here’s a proposal fic that was super fun to write.
Requested by: @knight-16
Alyssa PRO//
“Are you sure this is a good plan?” I asked Ali Krieger, my good friend and my hopefully soon-to-be fiancé Ashlyn Harris’s best friend.
“Yes, this is perfect.”
“Well what if I mess this up or, what if she doesn’t like the ring or, oh god what if she says no-”
“Lys, relax. She’s not going to say no. The women is head over heels in love with you.”
“I could still mess up.”
“You won’t. Trust me.”
I had been planning my proposal to Ashlyn for months, it took me 3 months to even decide on the ring for her. I have known she was the one since our second year anniversary. We’ve been dating for 2 and a half years and I couldn’t be happier. She completes me and I fall in love with her more everyday. I knew in my heart that she would say yes even if I proposed with a ring pop candy ring but I still wanted everything to be perfect.
The plan was to wait until after our game tonight and after we get back to our apartment I’ll ask her if she wants to go for a walk and then I would take her to our spot on the beach we like to visit almost everyday. Once there we’ll sit and chat for a while like we usually do and then I’ll carry out the rest of my plan and pop the question. I was beyond nervous but I was also over the moon about finally getting to this milestone with her.
“Hey babe! You ready?” Ashlyn said, taking me by surprise.
“H-hi love. I am.”
I quickly shoved my phone in my bag so she couldn’t see what I was showing Ali
“You okay?”
“Yeah, just nervous is all.” I admitted
“You have no reason to be nervous Alyssa, you’re starting in the game, which is a first for this set of friendlies I know but you’re going to show Vlatko just how amazing and badass you are.”
She came up behind me, and wrapped her arms around me, kissing my neck softly.
“Oh, you can do it just know that I believe.” She sang
I smiled softly when I realized what she was doing. We watched the High School Musical movies religiously and I instantly knew the song from the 3rd movie.
“And that’s all I really need.”
“So come on.”
“Make me strong. Time to turn it up, game on.” I giggled as we finished singing.
Ali was watching and recording the whole thing, smile just as bright as we were.
“You guys are the cutest.”
“Thanks, we try.” Ash said flipping her hair
“I needed that boost. Thank you.”
“of course baby. Now go kick some ass.”
She slapped my butt playfully as we started to head out to the tunnel. I met up with the little girl whose hand I would hold and walk onto the field and she talked animatedly about how excited she was to go out and I promised we would wave to her parents when we did. I was behind Megan who was first in line since she was captaining this game and when we stepped onto the field I was swept away by the crowd and how loud they were. I have been playing on the national team for years now but I will never get over that first cheer or the adrenaline rush I feel before a game. After the anthems, pictures and shaking hands with the other team we got into a huddle for once last pep talk
“Okay listen up. We’ve watched plenty of game footage and strategized, we can beat this team. If we take care of the big things, all the little pieces will fall into place, alright?”
We all nodded in agreement.
“Oosa on 3!… 1!… 2!… 3!”
“OOSA, OOSA, OOSA” We shouted together.
We broke off to get into our positions and I headed into goal. I took a deep breath, jumped up and down a couple of times and stretched my arms, determined to remain completely focused. I wanted a clean sheet really bad.
It was the 67th minute when things changed, up until that point I had stopped every shot that the Brazilian players sent my way, every set piece went off without a hitch and we were up 1-0. Unfortunately, Becky accidentally fouled Marta in the box and gave away a penalty. She turned to me looking guilty.
“It’s okay Beck, I got it.” I said patting her on the back.
I knew I could stop the shot and after listening to instructions from the ref and waiting for everyone else to be ready I turned out everyone else around me and focused solely on the ball. I could feel Marta’s eyes on me but I refused to look her in the eye because I knew she was trying to get in my head. She backed up a few steps before firing the ball toward the upper right 90, I could see she was going to go there so I leapt in that direction and was able to slap the ball away and out of danger. After I got up from the ground my teammates swarmed me and shouted praise in my ear as we hugged.
“SO BADASS!”
“FUCK YEAH BABE!”
“Go, set up for the corner!” I yelled
I was overjoyed that I kept my clean sheet but I knew we still had work to do and was locked in. They did as I said and Marta once again took the set piece, she sent the ball into the box but I was able to come off my line and punch it away. We regained possession and Abby passed the ball to Christen who passed it to Lindsey and she took it into Brazil’s final 3rd. Our counter attack was strong and I was watching intensely as my teammates went for another goal. Lindsey crossed the ball the Megan but she was between 2 defenders so she wasn’t able to get the shot off, she decided to pass to Alex who was able to fire it into the net. I watched as my teammates cheered and celebrated and I couldn’t help but let a massive grin spread across my face. The rest of the game went on without many chances for either side and we were able to walk away with a solid 2-0 win.
After we signed autographs and took pictures we all made our way back into the locker room, I was putting my stuff away when I felt someone pick me up from behind. I squealed quietly at the sudden movement but knew exactly who it was.
“THAT WAS SO BADASS BABY, I’M SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU.” Ashlyn yelled as she set me down. I turned around and jumped on her, hugging her tightly as she peppered my neck with kisses and eventually moved to my head, face  before finally planting a deep kiss on my lips.
“Thank you. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
“Yes you could, and you did. I just gave you a little pep talk.” She chuckled
We kissed some more before someone cleared their throat.
“Look, I love you both and you’re super cute together but please… get a room.” Alex groaned
I instantly felt my cheeks turn a deep red as Ash just smirked at her.
“You’re just jealous because Kelley grounded you from sex for a week.” She said
She just flipped Ash off and stomped away. Everyone laughing at her faking being mad. Kelley pouted at her sympathetically as she whispered something in her ear. A dopey grin spread across her face and I knew she had been freed from the dog house.
After an hour of celebrating the win Ash and I bid goodnight to our teammates and headed back to our apartment. We lived in Orlando together which was great but playing on different NWSL teams made being separated during the season hard but we made it work; we spent all of our offseason together and made sure to make frequent weekend trips to be together. I knew after I proposed, I would immediately get to work on requesting a trade to the Pride. Our regular season was almost over so the opportunity couldn’t be better.
“So, how do you want to celebrate your amazing performance tonight?” Ash whispered in my ear, slightly nibbling on it as we sat on the couch.
“W-well, I was thinking of taking a walk together on the beach.”
She took to kissing my neck and as much as I wanted to celebrate like that I had planned to much for this not to pan out.
“A walk?” She seemed slightly disappointed, I felt bad but we could always celebrate after we were officially engaged.
“Yeah, I would like to take a walk. It’s so nice out.”
“Okay, then a walk it is.”
I kissed her sweetly before whispering in her ear
“Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of fun later tonight.”
She shuddered and I smirked at her. She smiled at me before taking my hand and pulling me up with her. I pretended to go to the bathroom so that I could grab the ring I had stashed away and when I was sure I had everything I needed and shaken out my nerves, I reemerged and we left our apartment. walking hand in hand to the beach. When we got there, we walked along the sand, I had taken off my shoes and let the water flow over and under my feet, loving the calm, cool feeling.
“You did so good today, I’m so proud.”
“Thank you. You’re my biggest fan.”
“I always will be.”
After a while I led us over to our spot, which was a section of rocks that were comfortable to sit on and gave us a good few of the whole ocean. Ashlyn turned to me and I could have sworn her eyes were literally sparkling under the moonlight.
“Hi.”
“Hey there.”
We just looked at each other for several moments, and then Ash broke the silence by tapping me on the nose.
“You have such a cute nose, did you know?” She asked, smiling like a fool. “I didn’t but thank you. So do you.” I giggled, tapping her nose in return.
We continued messing around, smiling and laughing and I fell in love with her all over again.
“If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?” She asked
“I would be right here, with you.”
She smiled lovingly at me in return before kissing me. We sat in comfortable silence for a few more minutes before Ashlyn got up, turned away from me and stretched.
I knew this was my chance so without any hesitation I got down on one knee, ring in hand and waited for her to turn around. When she did, her eyes immediately filled with tears.
“Oh my god.”
“Ashlyn Michelle Harris, I have loved you since the day we met all those years ago. You are the light of my life, my rock, my person and I can not imagine my life without you. Will you make me the happiest women alive and marry me?”
She stood in shock for a moment, tears flowing freely down her cheeks. At this point I was in tears too, my heart was going a million miles an hour as I waited for her to answer.
“Yes, yes a million times yes!” She shouted as she tackled me into the sand.
“I love you.” She cried
“And I love you.”
Still on top of me, she looked down at me with so much love I thought she would burst. Our lips met in a passionate kiss and we made out for a moment before finally sitting up to breath.
“So what do you say, you wanna put the ring on?”
“Oh, yeah. I totally forgot about that.”
I laughed through my tears as I slid the ring onto her finger. It was a simple gold band but Thad a decent sized diamond in the center. She inspected it for a moment before saying
“It’s perfect, I love it.”
“I really thought and hope you would” I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.
We sat in silence again as we took in the moment, we were officially engaged and it meant the world to us both.
“How did you do so well at hiding this from me?” Ashlyn asked
“I had a little help from Ali.”
“Ah, I shoulda known. Good ol’ Kriegs.” She chuckled
“How do you think we should tell the team?”
“We could…. Invite them over for dinner tomorrow and see how long it takes for them to notice the ring?”
“Excellent idea.”
“I should probably tell Ali first, she’s been blowing my phone up for the last hour.” I laughed
“That’s a good idea. Tell her I said thank you.”
“I will.”
“I can’t wait to be Mrs. and Mrs. Neaher-Harris.”
“The day I get to call you my wife will be the greatest of my life.”
After I texted Ali, swearing her to secrecy, we laughed at her excited response.
I was excited for this new chapter in our lives and I knew no matter what life threw at us Ash and I would get through it together, hand in hand.
I’m sorry this took a hot minute. Sorry for any mistakes.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner - Kellex/Reader
I was going to post a lot this week, but then it turned out to practically be midterm week at school. I was surprised by the number of tests I had to take, so I ended up getting no writing done. I woke up today and was in a mood to write something, so here is more of future Kellex and their adopted daughter.
prompt: A squeal to New Home.
warnings: Swearing.
words: 2333
Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
I couldn't help but look at the messages online as Skye kept her phone in my face to show me all the messages that I had gotten for good luck. I wasn’t entirely surprised about the messages. I had been meeting a lot of former pro soccer players and current pro soccer players. With Kelley and Alex being my moms now, I had met a lot of people that I looked up to.
Kelley and Alex had warned me that they would probably tweet to me today since they couldn’t be here. We had been spending a lot of time around their former teammates and I had become friends with some of them. My favorite to hang out with was Sonnett, so her tweet of good luck definitely didn’t surprise me.
“Dude, you have legends tweeting to you,” Skye said. I knew that she still couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that Kelley and Alex had adopted me.
“Skye, I’m just trying to get ready for this game. I need to focus,” I said. Skye shook her head and pulled the phone back to herself. I loved my best friend but we both had very different ways of preparing for our game.
“Who all is supposed to be here?” Skye asked again. This was about the tenth time the midfielder had asked me today who would be coming to watch me. I had gotten tired of repeating myself after the second time. I just wanted to listen to my music and go over the game plan in my head.
“My moms, obviously. They both said that their families were going to try to be here since they’re my grandparents, aunts, and uncles now,” I started. Skye rolled her eyes and I knew that she wanted to know who was supposed to be here that had played soccer. “Christen and Tobin are supposed to be here since they both live in LA. Ali and Ash said that they were going to try to come.”
“I cannot believe that you’ve met Christen Press and Tobin Heath,” Skye said. I chuckled at my friend because I had told her that she could come with me when I met them since Kelley had taken me to work with her one day. Skye had skipped to do something with some of our other friends.
“You do know that they’ve came out and practiced with me, right?”
“You’ve practice with them?” Skye asked. I pulled my headphones over my ears as I turned my music up. I tune Skye out and I knew that she would continue to talk.
It wasn’t much longer before we were supposed to go out on the field. All I wanted to do was play for the State Championship. I was about to get the chance to do exactly that. Kelley had told me that there would be scouts in the crowd, not just for college but for the national team and clubs. I knew that Kelley was pushing me to ignore the scouts that had came out from clubs and wanted me to go to college instead.
I couldn’t think about any of that the second I stepped onto the field. I took a deep breath before I walked out onto the field. I took my spot to play centre-back before the game got started. My only focus was winning a State Championship.
Things kept pretty much in line with how I figured they would go. I had predicated that we wouldn’t allow a goal before half-time. It wasn’t too surprising to me considering we had the best defense in our division. I was a little surprise that we hadn’t scored, however.
Katie was our centre-forward and she was amazing. She was going to go play at UNC once she graduated. Although Katie never said it, we all knew that she was going to be disappointed if we didn’t win the State Championship this year because she hadn’t been able to win it yet and this would be her last year to win. While Katie was the leading scorer of our division, our other two forwards, Olivia and Lauren, helped to allow our team to lead the scoring in the division. They all tended to start the game with an early goal. So, it was surprising that we hadn’t gotten a goal yet.
The most surprising moment was when Katie tumbled to the ground after one of the other defenders made a late tackle. The whistle was immediately blown, but Katie wasn’t getting up. I wasn’t surprised when our coach came onto the field along with one of the trainers. It was a little surprising when Katie was helped off of the field, but Coach didn’t replace her immediately.
“How bad do you think Katie is?” Skye asked me as we headed for the locker room at half-time.
“I don’t know,” I shrugged. It must not have been bad if Coach didn’t replace Katie. There was probably a chance she could continue. “We’ll just have to wait to find out.”
We mostly sat around the locker room as we waited to hear something about Katie. It was a little surprising when Katie came back into the locker room on crutches. Coach was following behind her. We all looked at them for the answers to our questions.
“My ankle is sprained,” Katie said drawing our attention to her. “I’m out for the rest of the game.”
Groans filled the locker room. Katie was our best player. Although, Olivia and Lauren were still playing as our forwards, we knew that our game just got 10 times harder.
“Hey, I know that losing a teammate is hard, but that doesn’t change anything,” Coach said. We looked at him. “We still have a game to win. Erin, you’re going to go in.”
I was a little confused by that because that meant that we would have 5 players playing defense. I knew that this was State, but I didn’t think that we needed 5 players in the back. Not with how good our defense was.
“(Y/N), you’re going to move to centre-forward,” Coach said and I froze. I hadn't played as a forward outside of practice. Although Coach had told me that he wanted to try playing me as a forward, I didn’t think he meant in the State Championship game. I couldn’t focus much on what Coach was saying as I tried to prepare myself to play as a forward rather than a defender. When we were heading out to the field Katie asked me to walk out with her.
“Nervous to play as a forward?” Katie asked.
“That obvious?”
“Kind of,” Katie shrugged. I couldn’t help but be nervous because it had been a while since I had played as a forward. “Just relax and don’t overthink things. You’ll do fine.”
“Thanks, Katie,” I smiled at the older girl.
“Just kick their asses for me?” Katie asked me. I nodded because that definitely was the plan. “Get out there, (Y/N).”
I ran out to the field and joined Olivia and Lauren at the front. The two stopped to talk to me to give me some pointers. I glanced over to the bench to see Skye giving me a thumbs up. I wasn’t too surprised by the shocked looks of my moms. I had told them that Coach was wanting to play me as a forward, but none of us had thought he would this season.
I sighed as I turned my attention to the ball. For the next 45 minutes, my objective was to get the ball to each the back of the net. Things didn’t exactly go my way for about the first 30 minutes. Many of my passes had been intercepted and I couldn’t seem to win any challenges. There was an injury at the 75th minute and I saw Katie waving me over.
“What are you doing?” Katie asked me as soon as I reached her.
“I’m trying to play as a forward,” I said.
“No, you’re trying to play like me,” Katie corrected me. I knew that I had been trying to play like she would. Katie’s style of play worked with our team’s style of play. “(Y/N), you aren’t me. You aren’t Alex Morgan.”
“Thanks for reminding me.”
“You don’t try to play like Kelley O’Hara when you play defense,” Katie pointed out.
“That’s because I’m a good defender. I don’t have to try to play like Kelley did,” I defended.
“You don’t have to try to play like Alex Morgan used to and you definitely don’t have to play like I do, (Y/N),” Katie started as I ducked my head down. “You aren’t me or Alex Morgan, so don’t try to be us. You could be one of the best forwards in the world one day if you would relax and stop trying to play like other people. You aren’t them. You’re (Y/N) Morgan-O’Hara. Own it. Own it as a player. Own it as a person. Once you play like (Y/N) Morgan-O’Hara would, no one is going to be able to stop you.”
“How do you know that?”
“Cause I know (Y/N) Morgan-O’Hara the person, and if she doesn’t let anything off the field stop her, she sure as hell isn’t going to allow anything on the field stop her,” Katie said. She pushed me toward the field as I noticed that we were getting ready to continue playing. “Seriously, go kick some ass.”
I rolled my shoulders back as I sighed but headed out to the field. I rubbed my face before we started playing again. This time I didn’t try to play like anyone else. I just let myself play how I wanted to play.
Even though we kept the ball away from our goal and mostly near the other team’s goal, we weren't able to score. We had gotten some good looks, but we weren’t able to turn them into goals. It wasn’t until the 90+3′ minute that I had gotten the ball and started to head for the goal. The goalie came off of her line, and I nutmegged the defender in front of me before sending the ball soaring to the back of the net. I held my breath when the goalie’s finger tips brushed against the ball, but it hadn’t been enough to keep the ball out.
A lot of bodies collided into mine as my teammates gave me hugs. I knew that we could celebrate, but my focus was on holding off the other team for another minute or two until the final whistle blew. Once the final whistle did blow, my teammates were once again hugging me. Skye and I did our handshake before I made my way over to Katie.
“I told you, (Y/N). You just gotta play your own style,” Katie said.
“How does it feel to finally have a State Championship?” I asked Katie as I pretended to have a mic.
“Oh, it feels amazing. I’ve been trying to do this for the past four years, but this year was special so I’m happy that this was the year that we won. If you think I’m good, keep your eye on my girl (Y/N) Morgan-O’Hara cause she is gonna kill it and no one is gonna be able to stop her,” Katie said. We both started to laugh before we were able to control our laughter. We headed to the field to take a picture with the team and the trophy. “Seriously, (Y/N), you can be one of the best if you just play like yourself.”
“Thanks.”
“Now you just need to join me at UNC in a couple of years,” Katie said.
“I’m pretty sure my moms would die if I did that. One wants me to go to Stanford and the other wants me to go UC Berkeley,” I said. Katie laughed at me but I was just lucky that I didn’t have to decide for a couple more years.
We took pictures before I went to talk to my moms. I was wrapped into a hug by Tobin first. When she pulled back, Christen gave me a smile. I didn’t blame Christen for not wanting to hug me. I was sweaty.
“That was a great nutmeg,” Tobin grinned and I chuckled. “I could see you as taking up my title.”
“No one could ever do that,” I shook my head.
“It was a good goal,” Christen said.
“Thanks.”
I smiled and they let me go past them. Ali and Ash wrapped me into a hug before I could take a step past Tobin and Christen. I let out a small groan, but it only cause Ash to laugh.
“I would have stopped your goal,” Ash said.
“Sure, you would have.”
“You know you wouldn’t have been able to, Ash,” Ali added with a laugh. I let the two of them argue about it and I was a little surprise when Tobin and Christen joined in. I grinned when my parents hugged me.
“You did amazing out there tonight, (Y/N),” Alex started. “I don’t care what anyone else says, you were good.”
“Don’t listen to her, (Y/N). She’s lying,” Kelley denied. Alex slapped Kelley’s shoulder. Normally I would have been disappointed that Kelley had told me that I hadn’t done good, but I did just win a State Championship. “I don’t know what you're friend told you, but it worked. You have the potential to be a great forward if you work hard.”
“Thanks.”
“And, hey, you got a pretty good goal tonight too,” Kelley added. “Besides, you won so you know what that means. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.”
I laughed at that as they hugged me again. I may not have entirely wanted this at first, but now I wouldn’t change this for anything. Alex and Kelley were my parents and I knew that they would have my back through everything.

Honorable Fight (Reader x Kellex)
Tumblr media
Request: R is a UFC fighter, and there's fighter who is talking shit about her family (Charlie, Alex and Kelley) and R goes off on him in the cage, and can only be calm after she sees her girls.
Author's Note: Hey Guys, so this one was super fun to write (most UFC ones are). I should mention Sean O'Malley is a UFC fighter, I should also mention Kelley and R are both G!P in this. Let me know what you think! your comments and anonymous messages give me life.
You sighed deeply as Alex ran a soft hand through your hair. You turned further on your side, burying your face in her stomach, every cell in your body relaxing into her touch like putty.
It was a rare serene moment in the chaos of fight week. A rare moment where the only thing that needed your attention were your beautiful wives.
Sure it was fun fighting for a title, but the media shitstorm that came with it was overwhelming. Especially when you were on the tail end of your weight cut, and your opponent seemed more content to shit talk than any other you had met before.
Then again, you were convinced it was his mouth that got him his title and not his fighting.
You would be the pin that popped his pretentious bubble on his first title defense.
But here, in this moment, none of that mattered. They were an island of calm. Of normal. They had always been a grounding force for your sanity, and that didn’t change when you became a big-name fighter. In fact, you treasured the levelness they brought to your life even more now.
They were the voice of reason. The encouragement. The prize was better than any belt known to man.
“It’s kind of amazing,” Kelley hummed quietly from the couch across from you.
You rolled back over, squinting at your other wife. “Hmm,” Alex hummed.
Kelley smirked. “That the big badass fighter turns into a puppy,”
You growled lightly at her, bearing your teeth. “Alex is comfy and I’m in pain,”
Your stomach growled as if on cue.
Cutting weight fucking sucked, even if your normal weight wasn’t that much higher than what the scale had to read.
“And you’ll weigh in in 12 hours and get to eat whatever you want,” Kelley rolled her eyes at your dramatics, more than used to it.
“Wan my candy mama?” Charlie asked, toddling up to the couch, and patting your belly. “Make tummy monster go bye-bye,”
You smiled softly at your daughter, easily reaching over and pulling her to sit on your stomach.
“Thank you, baby. I promise I’ll eat all the candy with you after I come off stage,”
She pouted down at you. “And we pway with Cwarke and wexa?”
You nodded seriously at the mention of your striking and Jujitsu coaches respectively. “Lexa and Clarke will play with you after we get off stage,”
It was adorable to watch your normally stoic jujitsu coach play wrestle with your daughter, and your amazing striking coach encourage her through basic combinations. You trusted your team with your life. They had been your family for as long as you could remember, and you loved how well they meshed with the loves of your life and your daughter.
Your watch beeped, and you glanced down at the text. You were exactly 12 hours out from the time you had to be on weight. It was time to go and do the not-fun part.
“You’ve gotta go,” Alex hummed, running her hand through your hair again.
“I’ve gotta go,” You nodded, sitting up with a sigh. Kelley sent you a sad smile.
She knew part of the reason you hated weight cutting so much was because you had to leave your family to do it. You never wanted them to see you in so much pain, or for them to be involved in something that could so easily go wrong.
You sighed again, sliding Charlie off your lap and grabbing your shoes.
“Come with you?” Charlie looked up at you with wide eyes.
Your lips formed a thin frown. “Sorry bug, but you’re gonna stay here with momma and mommy and watch some movies,”
“Nooo,” Charlie whined, throwing her head back dramatically, earning a chuckle from both Alex and Kelley. You sent a glare in their direction.
You gently rubbed her back.
“Yes baby,” you murmured, holding her close for a long minute before you pressed a kiss into her hair. “I’ll see you tomorrow right after I go on stage,”
“Pwromise?” Her eyes which looked so like Kelley’s stared up at you.
“I promise,” you nodded, kissing her forehead.
She echoed your nod and released you, pointing towards Kelley and Alex. “Kiss for Mommy and momma,”
You rolled your eyes at the order but pushed yourself to your feet nonetheless.
“She’s so your daughter,” you hummed, leaning over Alex to give her a nice kiss.
“Hmm, yours too,” She chuckled, pulling you in for another, longer kiss. It turned slightly dirty, a promise she always liked to leave you with.
It was a reminder of what you were coming back to.
You pulled back with a pop, ignoring Alex’s smirk as you turned toward Kelley.
“Go kick some ass, make your abs really pop,” She chuckled as she pulled you into an equally dirty kiss.
“Just for you,” You hummed as you pulled back. “I’ll always win it for you guys,”
******
Things always felt more volatile when you were on weight. You always felt more volatile, like one word would break the immaculate calm you always projected.
It was part of the reason you separated yourself from your girls. You never wanted them to have to see you like that.
Maybe your edginess could be chalked up to lack of sleep, or lack of food and water to get on weight. Or maybe it was due to the way Lexa and Clarke had acted as a wall between you and him backstage, preventing you from strangling him for the never-ending stream of vitriol that came out of his mouth.
Whatever it was, you were nearing the end of your patience as you stepped off the scale, shook Dana’s hand, and turned towards where Sean would come on stage.
“I don’t want any funny shit,” Dana said, as Sean jumped up onto the stage with a rattle, the president's arm already between you and the man you were going to face.
“I won’t if he doesn’t,” You hummed, stone-faced, your eyes never leaving your opponent.
You felt Dana’s glare as he muttered “You know he will,”
You did know.
That had been O’Malley’s game from the beginning, even before you agreed to the fight.
You were going to show him how much you… appreciated his comments as soon as the octagon door slammed shut, but you weren’t prepared to tip your hand before that.
Your lips curled as he flipped double birds on the scale, and moved towards you, his chest puffed out in a poor imitation of Connor McGregor.
He didn’t have the same swagger to pull it off that the Irishman did. He didn’t have the skills to back out his mouth either.
You held your ground as he approached, your chin tilting slightly so you could look into his muddy, brown eyes, even as he shoved against Dana’s arm to get as close to you as possible.
“Must be fucked sharing a woman,” He hissed, his nose almost touching yours. “Not that you could satisfy one on your own,”
You kept your face calm, something that seemed to only infuriate him further, as you stared into his eyes. They reminded you of dirt, grimy and disgusting.
They were a reflection of his soul.
“Must be fucked to not know if your kid is actually yours,” He continued, shoving Dana to be impossibly closer, pressing for a reaction he would never get.
He wanted to see your emotions, your rage, and you wouldn’t give that to him.
You wouldn’t show him how the comment felt like a punch to the chest.
It was true.
Charlie couldn’t biologically belong to both you and Kelley, but that didn’t matter. She was your child, no matter which one of you actually made up the 2nd half of her DNA.
You and your wives had chosen to get pregnant the way that you did so you and Kelley could equally be her parent.
It was a low blow, one he expected you to react to. But you didn’t move. You didn’t flinch.
And you saw a flash of fear course through his eyes.
He was hitting you with his best to get into your head, and as far as he knew, it wasn’t working.
There was a reason your calm was legendary after all.
His lips curled, and you knew the last exchange between the two of you would just be words. “Don’t worry, your shot probably wouldn’t be potent enough anyway. At Least tomorrow you’ll know who your daddy is,” before using both hands to shove you backward.
And you let him.
You let him push you, keeping your hands at your side and a stoic expression on your face, hiding the rage that was bubbling in your chest.
Dana was between you in an instant, preventing Sean from shoving you again as his coaches tried to restrain his thrashing, spitting form.
You stared him down, completely still, which only served to make him angrier. He shoved more violently against his team, confirming one very important fact in your mind.
He was making so much noise because he was afraid.
A snake only rattles when it’s scared after all.
You were in control as you allowed your coaches to back you off of the stage, unwilling to look away from him until you were through the curtain and down a deserted hallway in the underbelly of the stadium.
It was only then that you let your emotions out, your foot landing heavily on a trash can.
“I’m going to fucking murder him,” You growled, hitting the trash can again. It was despicable of him to bring up your family. A massive breach of the code most of the people signed seemed to follow. “He’s got 22 and a half minutes of fucking hell in front of him, and he doesn’t even know it yet,”
You were going to make him suffer for mentioning your family.
“Let’s not get too cocky,” Clarke said, pulling the trash can away before you could hit it again, as Lexa stepped in front of you, both hands up in a pacifying motion.
You blew out a long breath. “He’s a fucking twat and he needs to pay,”
Lexa nodded, shoving a water bottle at you. You took it, bringing it to your lips and pulling long greedy sips.
The water helped to calm the beast in your chest.
“We know, but we don’t want to give up finishing chances to prove a point,” She reminded you, her voice soft, forcing you to pay attention.
“He’s dangerous, we can’t overlook that in the name of revenge,” Clarke added, stepping towards you and placing a calming hand on your back.
“I know,” You grumbled, taking another long sip.
You knew what the game plan was, even if your nutrition-deprived body wanted to make him beg for you to finish him. You had to fight smart, especially when he was trying to make you reckless. “You didn’t hear what that little-“
“Let go, mommy!”
The little voice cut you off, and you whipped around to face it, the rage that dominated your chest dissipating at the sight.
Alex was crouched behind Charlie, holding her tightly as Kelley kneeled on her other side as the toddler tried to wiggle herself free of the restraining arms.
“Let’s give mama a second,” Alex said, raising an eyebrow at you as if she was telling you to get yourself in check.
You gulped, taking another deep sip of your drink. It did little to help you.
From the beginning of your career, you had agreed that you never wanted them to see you when you were struggling to control yourself. You never wanted them to see the self that you were in the octagon when you weren’t in the cage.
You rolled your shoulders, hoping it would help, but it didn’t.
Charlie pouted. “But she promised we eat candy as soon as she off stage,”
Clarke moved from behind you, patting your shoulder. “Why don’t we run through some boxing drills first monkey? Then you and your mama can eat your well-deserved rewards,”
Charlie squealed at the prospect. Running bags was one of her favorite pastimes, and Clarke had been pretty busy with you this week so they hadn’t gotten to do much.
“Come on then,” The blonde coach smiled widely, holding out her hand, and Alex released Charlie so she could run to your coach.
You would forever be grateful for how good they were with her. With all your girls really.
You stood frozen until you heard the telltale thump of your locker room door shutting, before both of your wives slowly approached you and Lexa passed you your shirt.
You slipped the material over your head, just as Kelley and Alex got to you, slowly wrapping you in their arms.
“That looked pretty heated,” Alex said softly, her hand finding your overexpressed abs underneath your shirt, and tracing the defined lines.
You hummed, tucking your nose into her neck and letting the last of your anger bleed out of you.
It had been pretty intense, more intense than your staredowns usually went.
You had never had someone shove you before.
“Did he hurt you?” Kelley pressed further, her fingers finding your spine and tapping gently.
You shook your head. “No. He pissed me off more than anything,”
The weight of the confession hung in the air between the three of you.
You rarely ever told them when a fighter was actually annoying you. You usually let the comments they made roll off, but if he had said something that had stuck, that was a sign in it itself.
“What did he say?” Alex asked, trying to be gentle, but also unwilling to let you bottle it up.
“Nothing worth repeating,” You scoffed, shaking your head again. They didn’t need to hear the garbage that came out of his mouth. They didn’t need to know he was using your relationship against you. That he was using your daughter against you.
“I think the poor trash can would disagree,” Kelley chuckled, pointing to the dented can and breaking the sudden tension that had overtaken you.
You winced at the distorted can. “I’ll make him pay for it anyway,”
“We don’t doubt that,” Alex agreed. “But talking it out might help you calm down,”
You blew out another long breath through your nose.
They didn’t deserve to have to hear the shit that came out of his mouth. They didn’t deserve the hate he was throwing your way, but you knew you wouldn’t be able to shield them from it entirely.
Not with the number of cameras on you.
“He likes to mention you two and Charlie,” You started slowly, “He thinks he understands our relationship, but he doesn’t. He wants to get under my skin and make me make mistakes tomorrow,”
“And it’s working,” Alex supplied easily, running her hand through your hair as you leaned closer to her, taking all the comfort she was offering.
“It’s not,” You protested, and she scratched your scalp a little harder.
“It is,” Kelley chuckled. “You demolished a trash can,”
You squinted, shaking your head.
That had been the person Y/n reacting to. It was the mother and wife in you enraged that he would bring up something so private. You could fantasize as much as you wanted about pushing him to the limit, but when that octagon door slammed shut, you knew it wasn’t the mother in you that he would be facing.
He would be facing the fighter. The cold and calculated side of you that you trained to no end. There were no emotions in the octagon. No dreams of revenge. Only analysis of the fighter in front of you, and a game of chess that you couldn’t lose.
It was a hard transition to explain. Difficult for even your wives to understand how you could just turn off your emotions seemingly at will. It was a side to yourself that they rarely got to see.
“He’s afraid,” You explained carefully. “He’s saying stuff because he knows that the only way for him to win is for me to make a mistake. My emotions won’t follow me tomorrow. I shouldn’t have let them take over, especially in front of Charlie. I’m sorry,”
“Don’t apologize, babe,” Alex’s voice was soothing in your ear as both of them held you tighter. “you’re human, you’re allowed to feel,”
“And she only saw Lexa moving it so you didn’t hit it again,” Kelley added gently.
They knew how hesitant you were to let them see the more destructive side of your job.
“He’s just,” You closed your eyes tightly, the words getting stuck in your throat, his cackle echoing in your brain. “It’s wrong for him to drag you into it, and for him to speak about you the way he did,”
“We know,” They sighed in unison, holding you close to them, knowing the only way to make you feel better was through their touch.
Their reassurances that they would be there no matter what happened.
It was the perfect moment, only interrupted by the loud moaning of your empty stomach.
“We better go. Charlie is very insistent that candy will help your tummy monster,” Alex chuckled, patting your abs as your stomach rumbled again.
They were painfully defined in a way that looked great but felt horrible.
You made a pained expression. Candy would not be enough to satisfy you.
“A steak too,”
Your stomach rumbled again earning a chuckle from your wives.“Maybe 2 steaks,”
“Whatever you want baby,” Kelley smiled widely, carefully untangling herself from you and beginning to guide you in the direction your coaching staff had disappeared with your daughter.
You would enjoy this moment because before you knew it, you would have to leave them again to put an asshole back in his place.
*****
Your hand clenched around the balcony railing, your other squeezing your phone so tightly you were afraid it would shatter.
You knew that the embedded crew had picked up on what Sean said to you, but having them send you the pre-edit where it was so clear was… infuriating.
You didn’t necessarily want the world to begin forming opinions on something they didn’t understand. And putting Charlie out there felt… too over the line.
Your hands clenched again as you watched the clip over, the words burying themselves impossibly deeper in your brain.
You couldn’t let them post the clip. You had to protect your family. You-
“Hey, what are you doing awake?” Warm arms wrapped around your waist, and a nose nudged just under your ear.
You hummed, leaning back into Alex’s slightly taller form. “I got up for a midnight snack,”
You lazily gestured to the half-eaten pack of Oreos left forgotten on the table next to your balcony. “what are you doing up?”
Her, Charlie, and Kelley had been knocked out after your movie marathon, cuddled up together as the credits of Moana rolled across the screen.
It had been hard to untangle yourself from the trio, but you didn’t want to wake them with your overthinking. You thought that the Vegas lights would help, and your favorite cookies, but then the media team emailed you and started that spiral all over again.
“Charlie got up to go to the bathroom and missed you, I volunteered,” Alex explained gently. “What are you watching?”
“A precut of the clip for UFC embedded,” You mumbled, restarting the footage and holding it up for her to see.
She could feel your mask slip into place as the clip of Sean taunting you rolled across the small screen. She could feel the tension run up your spine, and the way your entire body seemed to harden as he spoke (more like spewed) the words she knew had impacted you so much.
“Well,” She hummed softly, nudging your ear with her nose. “I can see why you destroyed a trash can,”
“I don’t want the world to see this,” You admitted, your voice rough. “I don’t want Charlie to find it one day and wonder what he means. It doesn’t matter how badly I beat him tomorrow,”
Alex let a beat of silence pass between you, holding onto you as tightly as she could. She knew you were the most worried about how Charlie would view you and your career after she actually understood what it was you did. You worried that she wouldn’t be able to grow up normally because of the media.
“She won’t,” Alex hummed. “She’ll remember how much we love her. She won’t listen to what that douchebag has to say. She’ll understand what we did and why we did it,”
You shifted heavily. “I just hope you’re right,”
“Don’t worry, I am,” She said, hugging you for another long minute before stealing one of your Oreos. “Now come back inside. I don’t think the little monster will go back to sleep until you’re in bed with us,”
You shook your head. It was a special thing that Charlie got to sleep with the three of you instead of in her own bed, but you liked to have them close during fight week.
“Just know I would do anything to protect you three,” You said, your voice heavy as you both turned to head back into your hotel room.
“We know,”
****
The 2nd time you had to say goodbye to your family before the fight was always the easiest for you and the hardest for them.
You could feel how much they didn’t want to let you go in the way Kelley and Alex kissed you and how Charlie clung to your neck until Kelley had to pull her off.
But you had a routine. They never came into the locker room with you, even before you were warming up, and you never knew exactly where in the venue they were sitting. You didn’t want to know. You didn’t want to be able to look out into the crowd and find them if something started to go wrong.
You didn’t want to have to see their faces if you weren’t the one who won.
Them leaving you early was easier for you. It gave you time to get into the right headspace for what you had to do. It let you disconnect from the more… human side of yourself. It was hard to beat a man senseless when you were thinking about the family that he also had.
You watched the live stream of the PPV out of the corner of your eye as Clarke began the long process of taping your hands for the fight. You fought to keep your fingers relaxed as they flashed to an interview with Sean before the fight.  “I’m going to make him regret every word he’s ever said,”
“I know it’s hard, but you need to think clearly right now,” Clarke said, gripping your hands and beginning to wind the pre-wrap around each of your digits. “You need to remember the game plan. Don’t let him turn this into a pissing contest,”
You grit your teeth. “I’m trying,”
You felt Clarke and Lexa share a look more than you saw it.
Lexa's hand gripped your jaw and she turned your head to force you to make eye contact with her.
“If you go out there with him in your head, you will not go home to Charlie, Alex, and Kelley in one piece.”
“I know,” You growled, “I just want to make him regret saying those things so badly,”
“You will,” Lexa assured you, “You’ve gotta fight smart though. Stick to the plan and he’ll regret every word,”
“If you let him egg you on, you’ll fall right into his plan,” Clarke added, beginning to tape your other hand. “He’ll force you to make a mistake and then what?”
You blew out a breath. You knew the answer.
You’d make a mistake and then you’d get hurt.
“He’s an ass, we know,” Clarke said slowly. “But the only way to do this right is to fight your fight. Not the one he wants you to fight,”
“I know,” You muttered, breathing heavily through your nose, and pushing the anger and rage out with the air.
You had to fight with a clear mind. Emotions killed inside of the octagon, and you couldn’t allow yours to control you. You needed to come back to your family safe and sound.
“Tell me the plan,” Lexa said, as Clarke finished the tape job on your hands.
“Keep him on his toes with leg kicks, nail a few to his stomach and go high when he drops his hands,” You recited, allowing yourself to slip into the fighter side of your brain.
Allowing yourself to forget that Sean was a man, and viewing him as a chess piece instead. Just another thing you had to defeat.
“What else?” Lexa pressed.
“Cut the angles, switch feet,” You continued, the mask of the fighter slowly slipping into place. “If he shoots, catch him with the knee and follow it with a hook,”
“And combinations,” Clarke reminded you. “Strings of 3 or 4 each time,”
“Combinations,” You nodded. You knew that too.
“Fight with your head and not your heart,” Clarke added, tapping your knuckles as she slid your gloves into place. “Let’s get you stretched and warmed up,”
You could do this. You could keep your emotions out of it.
*****
You sat heavily back on your stool, sucking in deep breaths as Lexa pulled your mouthpiece out. Round 3 had not gone how you wanted it to. You were being shoved against the cage wall, and defending takedowns for the majority of the round.
Having Sean’s entire body weight pressed into you was exhausting and so much less fun than punching him in the face.
“You need to stop playing Y/n,” Lexa said, as Clarke squirted water into your mouth and placed a bag of ice on the back of your neck.
“I got sloppy,” You agreed, your eyes locked on Lexas.
The first two rounds had been fine. You caught Sean at least 3 times, knocking him on his ass.
But each time you had let him back up. You wanted him to pay for what he had said.
You weren’t going to give him an easy way out in under 2 rounds.
“You're fighting with your heart instead of your head, and he probably took that round,” Lexa said sternly, as a ref shoved vaseline in a cut he had opened just under your eye.
“He’s dipping left,” You answered. You only had 30 seconds. You needed to make sure what you were seeing was actually what was happening.
“He is. Let’s pull a one-two fake and come over the top with your right. You’ll nail him just like you did in rounds one and two,” Clarke jumped in, from your other side.
“Ok,” You nodded.
“Watch for him to shoot. It’s what he did last round when you started to light him up,” Lexa added as the center official gestured that you had 10 seconds left.
“Ok,”
“We just need to keep sitting him down, and when we do, don’t let him back up this time,” Lexa finished as you pushed yourself up from the stool and the team began to file out of the octagon.
You nodded. You could knock him down again. When you did, you would finish him.
“Ok,”
You leaned back against the cage, staring O’Malley down as he tiredly shoved himself off his stool.
He was tired, and you were ready to finish him. This was the part of the fight that you thrived in. The championship rounds were what defined you, and Sean was about to find himself way over his head.
Herb Dean gestured for you and clapped his hand, and you knew. You could see exactly what Sean was going to do before he did it.
And you were ready.
Sean lunged in for the double leg, but you were faster, leaping up and catching him with a knee as he dove.
You had too much momentum to stop yourself from tumbling over him, but it wouldn’t matter.
You had landed flush, and you weren’t going to let him up this time.
*****
Kelley and Alex would never get used to seeing you covered in blood. It never failed to make their hearts stop.
It was one thing for them to see you back in the locker room, red coating your hands and abs after a 2 round beatdown. It was one thing for them to rush you after a 3-second knockout, not even a hair out of place.
This fight had been something different.
This fight had been a war.
This time most of the blood you were covered in was your own, courtesy of the nasty gash just under your left eye.
They were positioned just off to your left, behind the announce table, protected by the barricade of the friends and family section. Close enough to see your coaches leap up onto the apron as you landed an insane flying knee to Sean’s head, but far enough away that they hadn’t been in your direct line of sight between rounds.
Alex held Charlie tighter as the crowd exploded around them, the officials rushing you as you landed more punches to your own opponent, and Kelley moving to block Charlie’s other side.
“Mama ok?” Charlie’s voice barely carried over the crowd.
“Yeah baby,” Alex hummed, bouncing her as the officials shoved you away from the downed fighter and towards your corner. The fall as you leaped over Sean had opened the gash on your cheek wider. “She’s just a little excited right now,”
Kelley snorted at the description, the gross downplay of how you were pressing against the officials and screaming toward the grounded man.
“She flew,” Charlie agreed, pointing to where they were showing the replay on the screen above them. “Mama fly again?”
“I don’t think so baby,” Alex said, carefully repositioning the edge of Charlie’s ear protectors.
It was a signature of yours to do a flip off the cage after a win, but with how amped up you were, Alex doubted you’d be doing the celebration.
“Mama have too many boo-boos?” Charlie asked as you finally turned away from the army of officials holding you back.
Both Alex and Kelley shook their heads. They weren’t quite sure how bad it was yet, but Lexa had sent them a nod before the start of the 4th round, so they knew it probably looked worse than it was.
“Mama is ok,” Alex said, as an official approached them to escort them to the cage now that your team was finally starting to get you to calm down.
Kelley nodded towards the man, using a hand on Alex’s back to guide them forward. “Let’s go see mama,”
Hopefully, Clarke would be able to coax you into a shirt before they got there.
****
You were not a fighter who often showed emotions inside the octagon, especially after a fight. You weren’t one who landed extra punches after your opponent was clearly down.
But Sean had pushed you too far, and you just couldn’t calm down.
Even as Lexa’s arms wrapped around your heaving abs, and the official pressed a heavy piece of gauze to your cheek.
“Y/n he’s down, you need to relax,” Clarke ordered, snapping a finger in front of your eyes, and drawing your attention from where Sean was still sucking in stilted breaths on the ground.
You blinked at her. “Y/n you have to calm down. You don’t want Charlie to see you like this,”
It was like ice in your veins, instantly pulling the red tinge from your vision.
Your eyes darted around the cage, spotting Alex, Kelley, and Charlie standing just outside the door.
It was what you needed to release the tension in your shoulders, finally relaxing in Lexa’s arms.
Charlie waved excitedly at you, and you lifted a hand to wiggle your fingers back, keeping your head still for the official.
“You’re gonna need stitches after the official decision,” He muttered gruffly, letting your face go. “And you’re gonna have to do the mandatory ER visit,”
“We’ll make sure she does,” Lexa answered for you, finally dropping her arms, convinced you wouldn’t try to hit Sean again.
You groaned under your breath. You didn’t like the ER.
“Let me get the blood off you before your girls get in here,” Clarke said, passing Lexa the dark-colored shirt you would wear after, and stepping towards you with a bright, white towel. “Charlie will be upset if she can’t get a hug,”
“We don’t want that,” You muttered, closing your eyes as she methodically cleaned your face, staying away from the gash in your cheek, and moved on to wiping down your shoulders, stomach, and back. Your legs would be able to wait for the shower.
“No, we don’t,” Lexa agreed, holding the collar of your shirt so you could pull it over your head without getting blood all over it. “I’m sure round 3 already gave her quite the scare,”
You winced, as you lifted your arm through your shirt. “Only like the last minute and a half,”
“Still,” Clarke said sending you a meaningful look, as you popped your head through the collar. “I don’t think Kelley or Alex like it when you’re under anyone but them,”
“Very true,” You agreed, again glancing over your shoulder towards your little family. “I just needed him to pay for what he said about them. What he said about Charlie,”
You were acutely aware of how dangerous your job was. How terrifying it had to be to watch Sean lift you and slam you. How painful it was when he opened up the cut on your cheek with a slicing elbow.
I think he’ll remember this lesson,” Lexa hummed pushing you forward, as the officials finally let Alex, Kelley, and Charlie into the cage. “Now, say hello and get a hug so they can read the official decision, and then you can go to the hospital,”
You painted a half smile on your face and took the four steps over to your girls. “Hey,”
Alex smiled widely, fighting to hold onto your wiggling daughter as Kelley stepped up to gently wrap her arms around you.
“Hey babe,” Kelley's voice was as soft as her hands, her eyes searching your face for further injuries.
“Mama, you win!” Charlie cheered, wiggling harder in Alex’s arms. “Mommy down,”
“Easy,” You hummed, towards your daughter, eyeing the man now sitting pressed up against the cage behind you. “I think it’s best if Mommy holds you,”
You didn’t think he was still dangerous, but you would never take a chance with them.
“But hug,” She whined, kicking her feet and earning a chuckle from Kelley and Alex.
Your smile softened, carefully pulling out of Kelley’s arms and taking a step towards them. You slowly wrapped your arm around Alex and Charlie, squeezing gently and ignoring the pain in your ribs.
Charlie tried to lean into you, using her little hands to grab your chin before you could pull away.
“Gentle baby,” Alex reminded her, as Kelley carefully moved her fingers so they didn’t accidentally touch your cut.
Charlie nodded, her eyes searching you just as Kelley’s had. “Mama hurt?”
You shrugged. “A little, but I’ll be ok,”
Charlie hummed, leaning up to peck your cheek just below the gauze covering your cut. “I kiss it better for you,”
“Thank you, baby,” You said, as the officials gestured for you to come over so they could read the decision.
You landed a kiss on her forehead and one on Kelley and Alex’s cheeks before you turned toward the officials.
You let him take your arm in the center of the octagon, standing in front of Dana White.
“The officials have called a stop to this contest 4 seconds into the 4 round. Your winner by Knockout is Y/n Y/l/n,”
Bruce Buffer’s voice rang through the arena, and Dana carefully strapped the belt around your waist, but your eyes never left your girls, even as Joe Rogan stepped up for his post-fight interview.
All that mattered to you was them.
“First off, congratulations on your win,” He said, trying to draw your attention to him. “I want to ask you about this knockout. Clearly, he was down after the knee, do you think those last 3 punches were necessary?”
You smirked towards him, your pre-fight song running in your head.  “They were super necessary. If a man talks shit then I owe him nothing, don’t regret it one bit cause he had it coming,”
Sean did have it coming. He had messed with your family.
Your job was difficult. It was dangerous.
You were supposed to fight with your head and not your heart, but at the end of the day, you fought for them.
They were yours and you were theirs, and you would give anything for them. You would give up your new championship if that was what they needed.
They kept you grounded, and you would always fight for their honor.

I’d Take A Bullet For You (Kellex x Reader)
Tumblr media
Anonymous Request: Love ur USWNT writings, how about one when the team is like walking back to the hotel after dinner one night and a man tries to mug mamas Kellex and pulls a gun on them and shoots one of them but baby r jumps in front of the bullet?
T.W: violence and blood
It happened so fast, so fast in fact that you weren’t entirely sure what was happening at first, you only knew that the man before you was intent on hurting one of you in an effort to get what he wanted.
“Give me your fucking money, don’t make me ask you again.” He snarls, pointing his gun at Alex’s chest the taller woman holding her trembling hands in the air, Kelley doing the same at her side, her brown orbs darting to you.
The sheer shock of the scene before you made every one of you freeze, which, unfortunately for you, made the man’s ire only grow, so much so that he squeezed the trigger.
You know there’s no going back when you shove Alex and Kelley out of the way, the two women landing roughly on the sidewalk, but you didn’t care, all that mattered was getting them out of the line of fire... But doing so put you IN to it.
You glance down, eyes wide as you stare at the bleeding hole in your stomach, a hole that was immediately covered by a pale hand.
“Hold on, it’s okay, you’re okay.” You hear Alex coo in your ear and you swallow hard, dropping to your knees.
The man with the gun had sprinted off, but he was the least of your and the USWNT veteran’s worries, the two women more concerned with the gaping hole in your chest.
Your breath shudders when a blood covered hand settles on your cheek.
“It’s okay, we got you. We’ve got you Y/N.” Kelley whispers, tears running down her cheeks.
You briefly realize that Alex must have called the police because you can hear her screaming, begging for help that you so desperately need.
Alex pulls your head into her lap and your brow furrows.
“I couldn’t let him hurt you.” You rasp, your eyelids drooping tiredly.
Alex shakes her head, tears leaking from her blue orbs and dropping down onto you as she leans her head down her lips against your forehead.
“I’m going to fix this, we’ll fix this, you’re going to be okay. I promise.” Alex rocks back and forth.
“This is going to hurt, but it’ll help, I promise.” Kelley whispers pressing something hard against your chest, causing you to cry out in pain.
“Shhh.” Alex kisses your forehead, her bottom lip trembling.
The distinct sound of sirens pierces your ears and it’s then you realize just how tired you are, black spots dotting your vision.
“I’m sorry...” You whisper, voice slurring and Alex shakes her head, Kelley ducking down to lean her head against Alex’s.
“Don’t be sorry, just hold on okay?” Kelley sniffs sadly.
“Please.” Alex begs, but inevitably your eyes flutter shut, the last thing you hear being the hoarse, watery voices of the two women above you.
                                                            ***
Alex and Kelley were silent, tears streaming down their faces as they stared at the wall in front of them, their shirts covered in blood, your blood.
“Oh my god.”
The door to the waiting room flies open, the women’s USWNT teammates rushing inside and surrounding the two women.
"Look at me.”
Through Alex’s blurred vision she sees Tobin Heath, knelt before her, her hands on her cheeks.
“It’s okay.” She nods, brown orbs shining with tears and Alex shakes her head.
“No, it’s not... We were supposed to protect her and we...”
Alex lets out an inhuman cry, the sound breaking Kelley from her trance, the defender throwing her arms around her girlfriend as the two of them sob, their teammates in tears as well.
“Where’s Y/N...? What happened...?” Christen asks and Alex swallows hard.
“Surgery... We... We were headed back from dinner... He wanted money...” Alex mumbles sadly, hiding her nose in Kelley’s neck.
The defender cups her cheek turning to rest her forehead against the forwards.
“She’ll be okay she has to be... I mean she has to be. She has to be okay. She has to be.” Kelley rambles, sniffling as she rocks back and forth, her arms wrapped around her girlfriend.
The room is dead silent, teammates huddled around in groups as they sob, the veterans off the team huddled together.
You were the baby of the team, and when someone hurt you, it hurt them...
But this wasn’t an injury on the field, this wasn’t an injury a bag of ice could fix... This was something that could kill you, something they couldn’t fix.
Ashlyn closes her eyes tight, her wife sitting between her legs on the floor, sobbing into the goalie’s shirt.
Christen and Tobin are a few feet away along with the other veterans, their arms wrapped around a number of the younger players, players who had quickly become your best friends.
It’s when the door opens that the room goes silent, everyone turning to look at the foreign invader, who happens to be a doctor in blue scrubs.
“Y/N?” He asks, eyes darting to the two women whose shirts are still covered in blood.
Alex and Kelley jump to their feet, rushing the man.
“Is she okay?” Kelley asks, taking Alex’s hand, not caring that the woman’s hand is still covered in your dried blood.
“She’s in stable condition... She isn’t out of the woods, but the prognosis looks good.” He smiles and Kelley turns, burying her face in Alex’s chest.
“Can we see her...? Please?” Alex begs as she tightens her hold on the defender.
Vlatko slips into the room passed the doctor, his arm slipping around Kelley and Alex.
“Please.” He asks, his eyes locked with the doctor’s, it’s only moments before he relents, nodding.
“Follow me.”
                                                            ***
The room is silent, except for the beeping machine beside you and the sound of the ventilator that’s shoved down your throat, aiding in your breathing.
Alex drops to her knees beside the bed, her forehead resting against the scratchy blanket covering you.
“Why you...?” She whispers under her breath, Kelley moving to kneel down beside her a hand resting on her back, she too resting her head on the bed beside Alex’s.
“We’re not leaving her.” Alex glares over her shoulder at the doctor, tears streaming down her cheeks.
The doctor opens his mouth to deny her request, but one look into her blue, tear filled eyes he knows she’s not leave, a number of the other player in the group are quick to agree.
He gives them a nod.
“Okay, okay some of you can stay.”
In less than 5 minutes the group talks the doctor into allowing each and every one of them to stay, going so far as to bring in a number of couches for them to sleep on, while of course, keeping a path to your bed clear.
Everyone who will be coming to your room is informed of who those in the room are and that no one is to complain about the number of individuals in the room, most are honestly fearful considering there are a number of women in the room who could literally snap them in half.
The veterans surround the bed, the other members of the team spread out around the room, younger members as close to the bed as they can be.
Alex and Kelley have yet to at all leave the room, besides going to the bathroom to eventually rid their skin of your dried blood and change their blood covered clothes, but literally minutes after they were back beside your bed, their hands covering your own.
“She has to wake up.” Sonnett whispers, her arms wrapped around Lindsey who nods.
“She has to.”
Rose smiles.
“Who else would we scare?” She lets out a watery laugh, Sam and Mallory grinning.
“Remember when we hid in the shower? Scared her so bad.” Mallory giggles, the veterans even getting a small laugh.
Alex laughs, a tear rolling down her cheek. She cups your cheek, running the pad of her thumb along your skin.
“You have to be around to make more memories like that...” She whispers, the other players turning towards her.
“So, you have to wake up, okay?” She whispers, more tears rolling down her cheeks.
On the other side of the bed, Christen, Tobin, Ali and Ashlyn are looking down at you sadly, their hands resting on the flesh of your arm.
“She will.” Christen whispers, gently stroking your arm.
“She has to.” Ali nods, her bottom lip trembling.
Meanwhile, you’re still unmoving in bed, fast asleep, but soon you’d be awake and reunited with not only your family, but your team.
                                                            ***
Somehow, the entire team drifts to sleep from exhaustion more than anything, but hours later they wake to an insistent beeping.
Alex and Kelley spring to their feet, eyes wide when they realize that a number of doctors and nurses have rushed in, pushing your teammates back to surround the bed.
“Can you hear me Y/N?” The doctor asks, it’s then with wide eyes that Alex realizes, you nod.
“Y/N?” She whispers and you glance around, mumbling, though you can’t really be understood thanks to the tube in your throat.
“Let’s get that out honey.” One of the nurses whispers, as the doctor removes the tube from your throat causing you to cough softly, face scrunching up in pain.
The second even a sliver of space is made, Alex and Kelley push their way towards the bed, the nurses stepping back to allow them to see their fallen comrade.
“There she is.” Kelley whispers, gently cupping your cheek and you smile tiredly.
“You’re alright.” You whisper and Alex grins, ducking her head to kiss your forehead.
“Of course, we are...” She whispers against your forehead, kissing it again.
“I didn’t know if I stopped him.” You mumble tiredly and Kelley shakes her head, placing her hand on your chest, over your heart.
“You did. You did.” She whispers and you smile tiredly.
“I would’ve done anything to keep you safe.” You whisper and Alex shakes her head.
“We’re the ones who’re supposed to protect you.” She strokes your cheek and you smile, your body heating up from the medicine you hadn’t realize the doctor had increased.
“You’re the baby after all.” Kelley whispers and your tired eyes crack open, just enough that they can see you rolling them.
“I’m not the baby.” You mumble and everyone scoffs, you glaring around the room.
“Oh, you’re the baby sweetheart.” Ashlyn laughs and you growl, turning towards her.
“Shut up.” You grumble, smiling when Sonnett, Mallory, Sam, Rose and Lindsey push their way passed the veterans, grinning.
“There’s the Saucy Y/N we love.” Sonnett grins, taking your hand and giving it a squeeze.
“A compliment from Saucy Sonnett herself.” Your eye lids flutter.
“You need to sleep.” Mallory caresses your forearm, as do the other babies of the team.
“Not yet, I need to see you all...” You mumble sleepily, the babies of the team moving so your other teammates can see you.
Julie and Alyssa dote on you, the goalie kneeling down to kiss the top of your head while Julie gently hugs your hand to her chest.
The rest of your teammates are much the same, Carli leaning down to whisper in your ear to tell much how much she loves you and how much she’s going to be on your ass on your road to recovery, the woman giving your temple a kiss before moving so your other teammates can fill the gaps.
The lovefest eventually ends, the veterans who were at first, surrounding the bed back to their original places.
Christen leans down, kissing your forehead, Tobin following suit.
“We’re just so happy you’re alright.” She whispers Tobin nodding as she gives your hand a squeeze.
Ashlyn gently strokes your hair, smiling softly and lovingly down at you as your eyelids flutter.
“You need to sleep now honey.” Ali cups your cheek and you grumble, leaning into her touch.
“No...” You grumble and Megan rolls her eyes.
“Stop being so stubborn.” She pokes the top of your nose and you giggle softly.
“I’m not stubborn.” You mumble under your breath, turning towards Alex and Kelley who are both giving you a pointed look.
“Please Y/N, you need to sleep.” Alex frowns and you sigh, eyelids fluttering.
The forward surprises you by ever so gently placing a hand over the hole in your chest, Kelley quickly following suit.
You smile softly, placing your hand on top of theirs.
“Okay...” You yawn, your eyelids fluttering.
“I love you guys.” You mumble, turning from them and glancing around the room. “All of you.”
“We love you too.” Carli smiles and Sonnett jumps up from behind Tobin and Christen.
“We all do.”
You grin turning back to Kelley and Alex.
“You’ll be here when I wake up?” You whisper softly and they both nod.
“Of course.” Kelley smiles and Alex grins.
“We could never leave you.” She leans down, kissing your temple and you smile, your eyes fluttering shut.
The night had ended in a way none of you could ever expect, but you knew with Alex, Kelley and your teammates by your side, your family, you knew you would get through this.
