Wait so even in Ireland there are issues like this :'( Irish and celtic folklore is so vast like The Children of Lir for example I am surprised the teacher didn't make you an assignment on something similar.

I remember reading that Ireland stands out as a significant contributor to the magical and fae-based creatures seen in modern fantasy, especially through its Celtic roots. unfortunately nowadays people use fantasy tropes without researching their origins and Irish myths should be more recognised.

Yes even as a Greek myself i would prefer people to stand back and focus on other countries with rich myths and legends.

Yeah we dont even have a class dedicated to our myths (or at least I didn't).

We do not learn about our gods. Even in the Pre-Christian Ireland unit in History which is where you expect it to come up they are not mentioned. Which is sad because what little we know of our gods is badass. Lady Áine bit her rapist's ear off.

The only reason I know them is because they had silly little comic strips in my history textbook in primary school that we spent like half an hour on. And the only myths I know that were shown there were:

Children of Lir, Cú Chulainn and the hound, the story of Tír na nÓg, the story behind giant's causeway and The Salmon of knowledge

And as ive mentioned already, I do not trust whatever my school said because I actually researched Cú Chulainn later on and WOW they didnt even get his VERY DISTINCT hair colors right.

And yeah a lot of modern fantasy came from us, off the top of my head we have: Changelings, Banshees, Fairies, leprechauns

hell even the headless horseman kinda came from us with the Dullahan (some sources also claim he's the spirit of the god Crom Dubh)

Plus jack-o'-lanterns came from us (that one has cool folklore to it)

but of course our mythology isnt as well known as the Greeks or Norse, partially because we dont even know much about our gods and the country is primarily Christian/catholic and also because what we do know were written down by non-pagans so I'd file them under potentially biased sources

On the bright side that means we got nothing but bangers in the folklore based media department with Song of the Sea, The Secret of Kells and Wolfwalkers and all are BEAUTIFULLY made by our own people

Quality over quantity i guess, at least we don't have a Lore Olympus yet lmao

Okay I realize saying this is exposing myself on main so everyone has to be super niceys to me but I was reading an omegaverse BL where the omega was the top/dom and ALL the comments were complaining about how he was manipulative (I won't say he wasn't) but my issue is that the omega did the EXACT same things alphas do in 99% of other omegaverse BL, and when that happens it's always seen as hot or even caring when the alpha then takes care of the omega (the omega takes care of the alpha in this BL) and it has to go WAY too far to be considered rape, but suddenly, when the omega does any of this, the tolerance for what is manipulative and rape suddenly becomes WAY lower and just I feel insane for so many reasons because

1. It still IS rape in many of those alpha top cases but it's considered "acceptable"—like, it's harder to find (omegaverse) BL that DOESN'T have a level of noncon in the ship's dynamic, at least initially

2. People are somehow actually siding with and buying into the MADE-UP GENDER POLITICS OF A GAY SEX FETISH GENRE

3. My fujoshis in Christ, YOU ARE READING THE NONCON FETISH GENRE. THIS IS WHAT 99% OF THE GENRE IS. YOU OPEN THE BAG THAT SAYS "THIS IS NONCON FETISH CONTENT" THEN COMPLAIN IT FETISHIZES GAY MEN

Like to be clear, no I don't think it's okay, but you have to go through SO many BL to find ones that aren't weird, meaning you read a LOT of weird ones, and my frustration/absolute amusement is that somehow the fictional gender politics ended up getting to people and kind of proves how people really do use the genre to fetishize gay men because the moment someone you think is supposed to take it up the ass and there isn't a gap moe factor (like a delinquent being the uke/bottom) people lose their shit and can't handle their gay men fetish content not fetishizing gay men correctly.

(I'd also like to be clear I think people have the right to read and write whatever, like, women enjoying M/M is completely fine, but there is a genuine issue of fetishizing gay men to the point it influences how you see/treat IRL gay men, that there's a balance to be found, etc., it's a nuanced issue)

I tend to group mine by effect, which I suppose is not too dissimilar from your method. Their effect also tends to correspond to their rarity-- not always, but often enough that it may as well be sorted that way, too...

I will admit, I have not sampled many of my ingredients in their raw form. Typically, they undergo a transformation of sorts before ingested... Do you have a favorite?
