Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 3 Tatarigoroshi pt. Final
I'm doing things slightly different here.
The following takes place between parts 17 and 18 of my playthrough. The interview with Keiichi is a post-credits scene, but because of the amount of screenshots I took during the credits and the typing I did for some of the stuff coming up I figured to treat it as a separate thing. A nice little denouement. I really hope tumblr doesn't murder the quality of the screenshots here. Italicized words are my own interjections and not what is written on screen. I tried my best with some of the later parts.
Basically during this part and the credits I kept mashing the screenshot key.
"I made him seem like a very good person. I'll need to make him into a terrible criminal in the end."
"Apparently you're supposed to call disasters like the Great Hanshin Earthquake severe disasters. Still it's a terrifying operation plan. Though I guess sterilization operations are like this. I need to think hard so it's realistic."
"Jirou Tomitake A mysterious old man with the role of an extra yet still popular. He won't be doing much for a while.
Miyo Takano I made this character seriously suspicious. Seems kind of like the last boss. Maybe she should be to one to take the punches in the end. I need to make her so bad even coach would punch her. Maybe a full transformation in the end is in order.
Kuraudo Ooishi A Completely enigmatic man, though I'll admit he's convenient. Maybe he'll turn trustworthy in the end after clearing up the misunderstandings?
Katsuya Kumatani A completely enigmatic man, though I'll admit he's convenient. Maybe he'll turn trustworthy in the end after clearing up the misunderstandings?
Why is Kumatani and Ooishi's the same?
Kyousuke Irie I made him seem like a very good person. I'll need to make him into a terrible criminal in the end.
Rika Furude A convenient character who can't help but garner popularity. If Satoko doesn't get more popular with this, then she might not be able to make a comeback. Speaking of suffering, maybe Mion has it worse (pained laugh). A mysterious girl, in a way. The incarnation of the curse theory?????"
"Hinamizawa Village Gas Disaster In Memoriam List Apparently you're supposed to call disasters like the Great Hanshin Earthquake severe disasters. Still it's a terrifying operation plan. Though I guess sterilization operations are like this. I need to think hard so it's realistic.
Reina Ryuugu (spelling?) Passed away in the great Hinamizawa disaster. May she rest in peace.
Mion Sonozaki Passed away in the great Hinamizawa disaster. May she rest in peace.
Oryou Sonozaki Passed away in the great Hinamizawa disaster. May she rest in peace
Satoko Houjou Went missing during the great Hinamizawa disaster???
Teppei Houjou Went missing during the great Hinamizawa disaster???
Ichirou Maebara, Aiko Maebara, Daiki Tomita, Suguru Okamura, and Kiichirou Kimiyoshi Passed away in the great Hinamizawa disaster. May he rest in peace. (I didn't feel like typing it out five times)
Rumiko Chie Went missing during the great Hinamizawa disaster???
Yukikazu Kameda Went missing during the great Hinamizawa disaster??? I have no recollection of who Kameda is whatsoever."
"Tatsuyoshi Kasai I wonder if he really has a thing for Shion, that would be so cute if he did, hau u.
Shion Sonozaki The more minor of the twins always gets more popular, but to think it would still hold true. Maybe it's fate, or maybe coincidence. You're okay to think of watanagashi considering the suicide, though."
"Keiichi Maebara Did he just end up going crazy in the end? My condolences I suppose. Keiichi really never dies in a good way. Am I not allowed to laugh?
Diagnosed with a severe mental disorder… Mental disorder, what!? But with so many terrible things happening, people will break. You must never forget that feeling. We all live because we have a heart to live with. If we forget that, we are just living puppets. Remember you're alive and have a soul.
The more minor of the twins always gets more popular, but to think it would still hold true. Maybe it's fate, or maybe coincidence. You're okay to think of watanagashi considering the suicide, though."
This is the end of the story related text. The rest is credits for the episode. I think this is written from the perspective of whatever is actually behind the Hinamizawa/Oyashiro curse. The first part, about making him a villain again was shown way back at the very start of the series before the title card of Onikakushi.
""Higurashi: When They Cry" Serial Murder Novel Number 3: Tatarigoroshi A mysterious old man with the role of an extra yet still popular. He won't be doing much for a while.
I'm a little sleepy. Maybe I haven't been getting enough sleeping and gaming with all my heart. Or maybe I just want to play ragnarok online Oh, puritan, hah, hah, moe!
Scenario: Ryukishi07 Hello, I'm ryukishi07. It was a fierce battle this time, like it always is.
Partner in Crime: Yatazakura You really did a good job this time!! Let's put out the best stuff brothers can manage! (I might be wrong on this one?)
Scirpting: Yatazakura Thanks for everything again!
4U You're another one I always rely on. Thank you for everything you do."
"BT Your kind encouragement encourages me. Thank you so much.
Scripting Language: Me finding this scripting language was how it began. I wouldn't be here today without it.
Still, I'm really sleepy. The fatigue of a thousand years as they say. I may be doing this for fun, it's hard on my body. But it's nothing as long as i can get your thoughts and reactions!
4U I took so much of your time, so I'm sorry I'm late again. Gotta go debug more"
"BT You're another one i always rely on. Thank you for everything you do.
Production Yat Looks like he's got the hang of it. He was very fast on the clean up this time.
Graphics: Ryukishi07 Part of me wants a good artist, but having to trust someone else with it scares me too much (I can completely empathize with the creative idea of "only I can do this!)
Background location: Kameya Without your generous help, Higurashi would not exist. All those beautiful backgrounds are yours.
Yato Sakura Without your generous help"
"Ryukishi07 Without your generous help
Tsubaki Hey, this is totally nepotism, isn't it? Well, let's put that off as a joke
LRRP: Kameya You are a god. Sorry fo the weird abbreviation LRRP. I look foward to working with you and Daisuke in the future.
Jika Thank you as always, to hru. ab it stuc kin ro, tho ugh if brother unit e we'll be invinicible! Let's do our best!"
"Amamizu/Scarlet Thank you as always to hru.ab itstuc kin (The same thing is written for Amamizu and Scarlet here, and I admit I kind of gave up trying to figure out what's written there. "Thank you as always tohru? a bit stuck in?)
Music and SFX The Music studio Without beautiful music the world wouldn't turn. The main theme is important. It's a vital factor.
Dream Island Development Room Being able to mess with things from my house is a pretty huge plus.
Escateli~na Being able to mess with things from my house is a pretty huge plus."
no love for Koji. Awww.
"Minigames: BT Thank you so much for alwasy submitting great minigames. Give me some advice when adjusting them. Personally, I'd rather tsubaki in a ruse(?) s picture not be excessive I wonder why he doesn't understand?"
I wonder if the original release way back in the day had minigames in it? Like the club activities are playable games maybe? I'm now envisioning a significantly worse version of this game existing because it has something like the fucking awful gambling minigames from a Leisure Suit Larry just crammed in there.
"Homepage 07th Storming Party Still, I'm really sleepy. The fatigue of a thousand years as they say. I may be doing this for fun but it's hard on my body. But it's nothing as long as I can get your thoughts and reactions! Me finding this scripting language was I began. I wouldn't be here today without it.
Created by: Pride is fighting under your own flag. So I hope you understant why i don't want to "use my flag to make something weird. if you don't like it then raise a flag or two of your own." I hope this becomes a work to be proud of for life."
"Directed by: I'm ryukishi07. The path here has been a long one. But we're only midway through! The real stuff is still to come! I'll work harder than ever!"
Trying to decipher these and making sure I had them correct was a surprisingly annoying process. No one else on the entire rest of the internet seems to have bothered trying to decode what it all said. The steam forums especially were less than helpful. Just a bunch of people arguing six years ago about the veracity of what it says, and whether it counts as spoilers or MangaGamer "screwing with the plot." I do apologize for some of the attempts on my part basically just falling apart, but try as I might I just couldn't think of a way to make the letters available make any sort of coherent sense.
I mentioned it before, but I'm fairly positive that everything before the game credits is the entity behind the events of Higurashi remarking on the pawns they have available to toy with. Everything at the credits until the end title card there I'm sure was just Ryukishi07 having fun with it.
Gonna be honest with you here, I liked it, but not quite as much as chapter two. A reddit post I saw while trying to decipher the credits bits summed it up best: "Keiichi is cringe."
Gotta work towards a good ending. Can't just give it to your audience.
Let the god child drink!
Yeah, you're gonna have to address the body count of a thousand people eventually.
*sad trombone* Although I must say I do like the idea of playing as a protagonist other than Keiichi. Let the lunkhead go do something else, it's Shion's time to shine.
Keiichi aside, I liked Chapter Three: Tatarigoroshi, it was a severly depressing read at points, but it did provide some interesting mysteries towards the end. Why don't the dead stay put in Hinamizawa, what is puppeting the bodies around, and for what purpose? Why in this particular go-around was there a deadly volcanic gas that killed everyone in the town shortly after Watanagashi? Who were the twenty that disappeared? Satoko and Teppei were certainly two of them, but who were the other eighteen? Is it the masterminds of the cult? What is the importance of the woman who died at the start of the chapter, and did she really have any importance to the plot? I know there was the implication she was involved with the Sonozaki crime syndicate, but overall her entire subplot just vanished towards the middle of this chapter. Who killed Rika and why did they do it in a way similar to the murdered woman at the start of the chapter?
This chapter does however lend greater strength to the supernatural killer angle. Deliberately so, I'd say, since Chapter Two: Watanagashi leaned more hevily on the human angle to justify the killings.
Also:
"The shortest scenario," bullshit. This was just as lengthy as chapter two! It might seem shorter in my playthrough/readthrough, but that's only because I didn't want to be posting a bunch of screenshots and discussions about domestic violence. I felt it would be tonally at odds with my often lighthearted comments about the VN.

Higurashi: Massacre Chapter 17
I can't believe I've pulled this off. I am going over this chapter on the third Sunday in June 2024. In other words, this comes out "On the Night of the Cotton Drifting".
This is the first time since all the way back in Abducted by Demons Chapter 2 where the festival itself was the focus itself rather than a backdrop for something else.
For the first time since before we even knew anything that was going on the point of the festival is to give our cast time to have fun and enjoy themselves.
The scars from the Dam War are finally beginning to heal. The villagers come to Satoko to apologize for how they've treated her and promise to be there for her if she needs help.
And Keiichi and his dad have garnered a great deal of respect in the village. It's a far cry from how the council elders were calling Keiichi a disrespectful brat and acting like Ichiro is a failure of a parent.
Is that Makino-san!!?
This shot is so amazing because the more you look at it, the more you realize these are people who helped save Satoko.
I can't tell if any of the people on the left are anyone of note, but this shot includes Irie, Akane, Oryou, Kimiyoshi, the Angel Mort Otakus, Tomita, Okamura, a few classmates, Kameda, Chie, and Kaieda.
And Chie is eating curry of course.
Just to further emphasize how we're supposed to enjoy the festival itself, this is also the first time since Abducted by Demons Chapter 2 that we see Rika perform the ritual.
Congrats Akasaka. You have dethroned Keiichi as the biggest screw-up in the series.
Rika doesn't hold his absence against him though. After everything that's happened, she realized she shouldn't be relying on some single individual to save her.
And really it's better that Akasaka didn't help. He's completely unconnected from the village, its people, and its history. If he had been responsible for saving Satoko, the village wouldn't have been forced to confront the stagnation and scars left behind from the Dam War and Satoko would still be a mistreated outcast.
Akasaka has a role to play in all this, but rescuing Satoko was not it.
Rule X is utterly shattered. Rule Z is defanged. All that's left is to guard against Rule Y. Rika has brought her friends and Ooishi in on protecting Takano and Tomitake but despite everything that's happened, Hanyu is still going on about unshakable destiny.
The Schrodinger's cat paradox is a thought experiment involving placing a cat and a vial of poison in a box. Depending on some quantum conditions, a mechanism will shatter the vial and release the poison, thus killing the cat. It's not possible to know whether the condition was met until you open the box and check.
It was originally made as a critique to the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics because by that interpretation, the cat would end up both alive and dead but we would only be able to observe it being in one state or another.
Frederica Bernkastel's poem said no one knows if the cat is alive or dead until someone looks in the box. When she looked in, the cat turned out to be dead.
Rika is frequently compared to a cat.
This chapter is a celebration of everyone coming together to overcome what was thought to be an unbreakable fate. But it ends in an utterly cruel fashion as we're shown we fell right into the enemy's trap.
It turns out that Takano and Tomitake aren't killed by some unknown assailant. Takano is behind it and the Wild Dogs are part of her conspiracy.
Rika's never been able to find her killers because they were a group she'd trusted this whole time led by someone she always thought was dead.
Rika's friends called Oyashiro-sama's curse a fear within the village of upsetting someone who doesn't exist. Keiichi said the curse wasn't because of a deity, but because of people. They spent this arc breaking that curse, but now Takano has stepped in and she intends to set a new curse on the village.
We've seen it before how Takano only sees Oyashiro as some cruel and evil god, and she revels in spreading that idea. She writes horror stories based on the village's history. Her interpretation of Oyashiro-sama's curse is just another aspect of that.
It turns out that "Tokyo" is behind everything, though Takano's words imply this is happening because of some internal dispute. This faction's end goal is to bring about some grand catastrophe related to Hinamizawa Syndrome. In other words, they're likely behind the Great Hinamizawa Disaster. And Irie and Tomitake will be killed to get them out of the picture.
Whether it's fear of a non-existent being or the utter destruction of the village, it turns out that Oyashiro-sama's curse truly is just the work of people.
The kidnapper is finally named. He's Okonogi.
This chapter started with the highest highs and ends with the lowest lows. Going forward, this will just be another dead-end timeline. I hate that Hanyu was right.

RGG Tactics Who's Who
"Beefgnaw, who the fuck are all these Yakuza OCs you keep posting about"
Here you go. List will be updated as the story gets hashed out.
Hiroshi Aoyagi (aka Sojiro Amano): the protagonist of RGG Tactics. A Majima Family man with a knack for turning restaurants into licenses to print money. General manager of Kiwami Cafe in Kamurocho and later Neko-Kai Cafe in Sotenbori. A little guy with a big mouth. Loyal to a fault and stubborn as shit. Nishida's oath brother. Later forced to be Majima Construction's chief of safety and compliance and he hates every second of it.
Eiji Yamaoka: A Nishikiyama Family hitman who presents himself as a protective big brother to Aoyagi, but neither Aoyagi nor the audience are fooled by his bullshit. Clean and methodical on the clock, charming and outgoing on his own time, rarely seen without at least one pretty girl on his arm.
Yusuke Kuroshi/Homare Nishitani II: Current patriarch of the Kijin Clan, retainer to the Omi Alliance chairman, chairman of the Sotenbori Civic Association's Board of Directors, and legendary info broker. By all appearances, the exact opposite of his predecessor. Cold, calculating, refined, sometimes cruel, always in control. Or... almost always. If you've read "It's All About the Bit" you've met him.
Keiichi Sugihara (Kei-chan): Nishitani II's better half, Civic Association member, owner of a video game store with a slightly illegal console chop shop in the back room, tech hobbyist who believes in better ass-kicking through technology.
Nobuaki Chiba: Kijin Clan lieutenant. Very intimidating if you don't know him. Kind of intimidating if you do know him, but for the most part he's Just A Guy who likes beer and fried shit and sportsball and throwing some good old fashioned hands in the street. Aoyagi's first friend in Sotenbori.
Shigeo "Doc" Nakamura: A doctor working for the Sotenbori Civic Association. Nobody's a hundred percent sure he actually has a license to practice but he does good work and he doesn't ask uncomfortable questions.
Shiori Hanada: A hostess at Club Sunshine who personally puts the fear of God into some asshole who's been snapping covert hostess foot pics under the tables and selling them on the street. She later goes to work at Cabaret Grand after Sunshine's current owner becomes too shitty a boss to stand.
Daikichi "b0ngl0rd69" Tomita: A friend(?) of Sugihara's who makes him look downright normal about games by comparison. Walks around Sotenbori with an honest to God gunblade. Is absolutely aware that the number in his handle has some... connotations in English.
Akemi "Crystal Star Sapphire" Sakurai: A hostess at Jewel in Kamurocho who moonlights at a magical girl-themed cosplay bar. She is an engineering major at Touto University who combines her technical knowhow with her prop-building skill to create ice-based weapons that are as dangerous (and possibly illegal) as they are pretty.
Minoru "Unlucky" Uchida: A string of poor life choices starting on the morning of his 42nd birthday have rendered him the unluckiest yakuza alive. Every single time his turn comes up, he will get hit by a random environmental hazard--and usually one with splash damage. His only real use in battle is to be sent into the middle of enemy formations like a laser-guided misfortune missile.
Stephanie Torino: A professional MMA fighter from Arizona, in Osaka for a tournament. She does not care for men in general but she seems to have especially personal beef with Aoyagi. (strangely, she befriends Yamaoka of all people in the postgame, which Aoyagi finds both bewildering and a little insulting)
Minako "Minadeath" Takai: The frontwoman of an all-girl death metal band. One of the few units who can deal non-elemental magic damage.
Torahiko Kogawa: Cat cafe mogul and terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad person. The antagonist of the Cat Cafe Grand Prix sideplot.
Yashiro Noguchi: CEO of Millennium Holdings in Sendai, currently being blackmailed by someone connected to his former boss.
Miyuki: Mysteriously dumped at the animal shelter in the dead of night and subsequently entrusted to Aoyagi's care as his first cafe cat. Pure white with the prettiest deep blue eyes. Magnificently fluffy, amazingly sociable, and stone deaf.
Ryo Amon: Personal chef to the Amon Clan, challenges Aoyagi and his crew to a cooking battle at the end of the Chef League sideplot.
Gen Amon: Leader of a breakaway sect of the Amon Clan, takes issue with certain rules of engagement the Amon Clan adheres to. He and his team are the requisite RGG Secret Boss Battle. Yes, Aoyagi gets not one but TWO rounds of Amon Clan Bullshit to deal with in this game.
Nyamon: A huge stocky black cat with God tier stats, who mysteriously shows up at the cat cafe shortly after you beat Gen Amon's team. While most of the cafe cats will let you put cute accessories on them, Nyamon will hiss at you if you attempt to swap his aviator shades out for something else.

A few weeks ago, they`ve announced that Junjou Romantica by Nakamura Shungiku will finally have a stage play. However, it seems that only few people only know about it while some don't know what`s it all about/don`t know that there`s a stage play, so i`ve decided to translate some details about the stage play.
So, The stage play is held from April 29 to May 2, 2021 (8 performances). The ticket cost 9,800 yen and is held at Sougetsu Hall located in Akasaka, Tokyo.
Here's the schedule (the one with heart symbol means there's an “After Talk” event):
Here's the casts:
Here's the staff:
Director: Suehara Takuma (末原拓馬)
Screenplay: Ise Naohiro (伊勢直弘)
Music: Suehara Yasushi ( 末原康志)
Art: Takebe Natsuko ( 竹邊奈津子)
Stage director: Akasaka Yukiko ( 赤坂有紀子)
Lighting: Abe Masayuki ( 阿部将之)
Sound: Maeda Norihiro ( 前田規寛)
Hair Make: Kuratani Yui ( 車谷結)
Stylist: Sato Akari ( 佐藤朱香)
Assistant Director: Takahashi Masataka ( 高橋将貴)
Promotional art: Goto Eiichi ( 五島英一)
Production Producer: Sugita Tomohiko ( 杉田智彦)
Organizer: Avex Pictures Co., Ltd.
Based on the current casts list, it seems that the stage play will only focus on Junjou Romantica (Misaki and Usami`s story) because key characters from Junjou Mistake (Isaka is present but not Asahina), Junjou Egoist and Junjou Terrorist are not listed.
For the “after talk” event, they`ve announced it today. It's basically like an interview/Q&A event and is held after the stage play. They`ll also hand out some freebies for watching the show. The freebies varies depending on the day.
Here's the schedule of the “after talk” event
Basically all casts are present for the April 29 and 30 shows.
For May 1, 1pm show only Kimisawa Yuki (Usami Akihiko), Yusuke Seto (Takahashi Takahiro) and Yagami Ren (Usami Haruhiko) will attend
May 1, 6pm show only Osaki Natsuki ( Takahashi Misaki ), Yusuke Seto ( Takahashi Takahiro ) and Yasui Kazuma ( Sumi Keiichi) will attend
For May 2, 12pm show only Osaki Natsuki ( Takahashi Misaki ), Kimisawa Yuki (Usami Akihiko) , Maeuchi Takafumi (Isaka Ryuichiro) and Yagami Ren (Usami Haruhiko) will attend
Here's the freebies. (Note: Since this was just announce today/March 26, there`s no available images on what the freebies looks like. Will post the images as soon as they released it or after the stage event since i already bought tickets)
For April 29 show - Junjou Romantica Stage postcard
April 30 (2pm) show- Cast (Solo) Bromide. There`s 7 design/pictures. This will probably be a random/blind type item where you cannot choose the design)

There's a chance that you`ll get a signed postcard or bromide.

Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 6 Tsumihoroboshi pt. 1
So what, four subsections until something dark happens then?
Very excited to once again just skip all the way to the next to last part of this just to see what the alternate ending looks like.
I wonder if the poems will tie into the narrative at some point. I imagine they will. Like chapter eight will roll around and then looking back at the poems before the very end it'll be like "aha so this meant that." It might not tie in directly to the plot, and this is more metaphorical than everything, but I imagine it'll still have some bearing on events you know?
This is a very minor thing to harp on given Rena is confessing to presumably either a big violence or murder. But it bugs me the indentation on the line "and with that there was silence." I didn't mention it during Meakashi but there was an extremely minor spelling error during the incident report. Where it mentions that Oryou was violently abused "post-portem," which isn't a word. It's post-mortem. I try not to harp on minor spelling issues though because I don't think anyone really likes that sort of extreme nitpicking.
Gonna admit going into this chapter I didn't think it was going to be the Rena chapter. Makes sense that it would be since everyone gets one, and she hasn't so far. Also for some reason this particular line reminds me of this bit from the end of the shooter Spec Ops: The Line. "I didn't mean to hurt anybody." "No one ever does."
I wonder if this chapter will go deeper into her past when she smashed up her school and classmates with a bat?
Also a clean screenshot of the curtsy just because I think it's a nice visual.
Anyway it's not a week or so prior to this confession scene. The class is going to have a big squirt gun fight for their PE class. Do the youth still call them squirt guns? Or do they just call them water guns?
Now I'm not saying it would've fit the mood at the time, but what if they had cross-dressing Satoshi or Keiichi. It's all a conspiracy, Ryukishi07 doesn't want to draw boys in lingerie. Anyway, what follows is a big water gun battle until Rena and Keiichi are the only ones left standing. Mion tries to manipulate the situation into the two ending in a tie in an effort to get away from whatever the penalty game is.
I imagine Tomita or Okamura were probably some of the ones who kept shooting Rika. I recall one of them has a huge crush on Rika so... you know. It makes sense to me.
This is playing it a bit heavy-handed huh. Everything is perfect and peaceful forever. Ignore the pre-title screen stuff, clearly everything is going to be peaceful and idyllic forever.
Something amusing happened when I started playing this chapter. I forgot to install the mod, so for a minute or so it was the remake version from GOG installed. I clicked on the "omake" button because I wanted to see if it was like earlier episodes where you could see how many TIP files there are in the chapter. It was all blank, but what's interesting was I clicked chapter jump and it had all twenty-six available right from the jump. At least I assume there's only the twenty-six, but I just thought it was interesting the game was like "hey you want to just skip directly to the end?"
I do occasionally think about just going with the unmodded version of the game before starting the latest chapter. Except for chapter one though I've just installed the mod every time. I like the voice acting.

Higurashi: Massacre Final Chapter
This arc ends with the stakes being escalated. The village came together to save Satoko from her uncle. The whole village had to come together to fight destiny and now it is going to be destroyed because destiny won.
Kind of ironic that Rika realized the world will continue whether or not she dies, but in reality her death might as well mean the end of the world.
The Great Hinamizawa Disaster has been an appropriate ending to many arcs in this series. It is a sad, tragic, and gruesome ending to a village with a sad, tragic, and gruesome history.
The Disaster always brings absolute finality to each arc because there is no one who can carry the story forward.
In each world, the story of the struggles Rika and her friends endured are ultimately swallowed up by the Disaster and no one in those worlds will ever know what they endured.
All anyone on the outside knows is Hinamizawa is a village of murderers who were all killed one night by a gas eruption.
I really wish more of the villagers were named or had frequent appearances throughout the series. I'm looking at all the crowds of people and most of them aren't anyone of interest. The scenes of the villagers dying from the poison gas or being gunned down don't hit as hard when they aren't anyone I recognize.
Here's a few faces I did notice though.
This old man is one of the members of the village council.
Here's Principle Kaieda being directed into the shelter. And here's Chie and the girl who stood next to Rika during their second appeal.
I'm pretty sure this is Kimiyoshi and the man on the left is the one who was talking to Keiichi during the festival.
And of course, Tomita and Okamura appear several times.
When everyone begins to die from the gas, the only bodies I was able to recognize were Kaieda and Kimiyoshi's.
The people working for Takano are apparantly Catholic because one of them made a cross in the air before praying.
The verses Takano speaks are a mix of actual Biblical verses, partial quotes, and paraphrasing. Her first quote is Matthew 24: 42,43 with some slight inconsequential word edits.
Her second quote seems to be meant to be Matthew 24: 50, 51 but the first half is wrong. In full context of Matthew 24: 48-52, the lines Takano is "quoting" speak of an evil servant who believes his master is not returning and decides he can mistreat the other workers, party, and get drunk without consequence only for the master to return and punish him.
Finally, I couldn't find the third quote at all. The closest I could find is Matthew 24:11, "And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many." and Matthew 24: 24 "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."
The verses between Takano's first and second quote talk about the servants who are diligent and faithful and always ready for the master's return. Those servants are rewarded for their diligence and good faith. Overall, that section Takano quotes is about how God's return is a time of celebration for the faithful and punishment for the wicked.
But Takano is kind of twisting things so that god's arrival is nothing but judgement and cruelty. The servant is punished not because he was engaging in wickedness thinking he could get away with it, but because he didn't expect god to arrive.
Takano, playing as god, seems to be saying the villagers are going to die because they didn't catch her.
And how fitting that Takano would speak about false prophets when that's all she is. Her goal is to become Oyashiro by implementing what people could only call a divine curse. She is declaring "Oyashiro has come" just as the false prophets did. But she's just a madwoman.
And I have to ask what happens next for her? She's been declared dead and she was a pawn within "Tokyo". I wouldn't be surprised if she is disposed of shortly after all this. If I was in the truck with her, I probably would have shot her right at the end because she's made me kill 2,000 innocent people to feed her god delusion.
And with this arc concluded, Frederica Bernkastel looks upon all the fragments and tells us that we have an almost complete understanding of the world. All that's left is seeing how Rika will defeat Takano.
But unlike all these other fragments which were made by Frederica, the final one was made by Rika and Frederica expects it to shine far brighter than anything she could make.

Higurashi Gou Liveblog: Episode 5
New arc we in it now. I heard that this one was Cotton Drifting-something? Like a perversion of that arc, like the last arc was a perversion of Abducted by Demons and it was called Demon Deception. Since Demon Deception or whatever was an example of one of the other bad ends to Abducted by Demons, is this gonna be a bad end of Cotton Drifting? According to the TIPS or whatever there was an unseen arc where Mion went yandere-bonkers over Keiichi for misplaced doll disposal and not gonna lie I really want to see that happen.
Oh we open on a timepiece again, I’m sure that’s not relevant at all.
AHAHA AND ITS IN KEIICHI’S ROOM AND RENA’S THE ONE CALLING HIM.
Animation continues to be lovely except for Keiichi’s excessively round face. It’s getting better, though, or maybe I’m just getting used to it.
OMINOUS MUSIC AS A BUNCH OF NERDS STARE EACH OTHER DOWN.
Keiichi’s evil face is great. Its also nice to see Tomita and Okamura get a little bit of mention like they did in the manga.
I retract my statement, all Keiichi’s expressions this episode are great actually.
The image of Mion and Satoko walking off together is oddly cute.
Speaking of which, I love how Rika’s weaponized her cuteness as the lethal weapon it is.
KEIICHI JUST FUCKING ZOOMS OUT OF HIS CHAIR.
Keiichi’s little dumb evil laugh I’m in love.
Mion’s semi-nyan face all the expressions this episode are amazing. Props to the animators.
OKAY NEVER MIND THAT DOLL IS HIDEOUS.
Hmm. So perhaps we aren’t going with yandere Mion. Curses.
The continued ominous progression of timepieces throughout the episode really sells this for me. Except I actually don’t think it is in Keiichi’s room? Is this place, wherever it is, gonna be the next crime scene?
Ah I’m so glad we kept and even amped up the unnecessary big-boob-jiggle physics and fanservice of Angel Mort. Truly it was a key part of the original series. We all would’ve been so disappointed and lost without that.
MION AND SHION’S BOOBS ARE NOT THAT BIG YOU FILTHY FILTHY ANIMATING PERVS!
Hmm. Interesting change. In the original arc Mion swiped Keiichi’s lunch in revenge for him creeping on Shion.
OH SHIT KEIICHI NO DON’T SAY THAT TO HER FACE.
I wonder if they switched the loss of lunch around, if this is actually still Mion disguised as Shion- okay she mentioned the doll this is definitely Mion in disguise. Also love how Keiichi mentions his suspicions that she fiddled with the food, since that was the source of his hallucination about swallowing needles the first time around.
My Mion/Keiichi heart has grown three sizes this episode.
I love how Mion being all happy and blushy about her crush is an immediate trigger for everyone else in the club to roast her alive for it. Except Keiichi, of course, who is dumb as a sack of hammers and wouldn’t notice someone was interested in him if they confessed right to his face.
“Though I feel like Rika-chan is more than just cute” BOY YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF THE TRAUMA CONTAINED IN THAT ADORABLE PACKAGE.
I wonder if they’re going to continue with “familiar arc but slightly to the left” and have Keiichi and Mion actually click before the rampant murdering.
“How do you see me?” a murderer asks her prior victim in what’s definitely not a loaded question at all.
HOO BOY Keiichi’s moment of hesitation and doubt as the cicadas chirp ominously, we’re carrying over past trauma from previous arcs, aren’t we?
Wait a second, hold up, if Keiichi already returned the food cartons to her then why does he go back to Angel Mort? Does he go back to Angel Mort? That was the inciting incident for his second visit…
Ah the incoherent screamy biker guys.
The flat rage on Shion’s face is what really sells this encounter. Like you punks ain’t shit. She’s a yandere grandma screaming at the kids to get off her lawn.
And we end here? Here is where we end it? Seriously? Meh. Kinda a pointless place to cliffhanger, but maybe they’ll change how this scene ends in the next episode.
Cotton-Deceiving! That’s what this is called! So basically all the new arcs are deception arcs. Very nice.

Listen to Hiroko Moriguchi's Beautiful Voice in Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Theme Song MV
The official YouTube channel for singer Hiroko Moriguchi has posted a full music video for "Ubugoe" (literally means birth cry), the theme song for the forthcoming anime feature film Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island. The CD single of the song will be released as her 34th single on June 1.

The song was created based on the theme of motherhood of Cara, one of the main characters of the film. Moriguchi says, "With lyrics by Goro Matsui-san, "Ubugoe" depicts the emotions of a young girl, Cara. I was moved by the small but big motherly spirit of the little girl taking care of her young children. The magnificent melody by doubleglass-san and the gentle and beautiful arrangement by Keiichi Tomita-san seemed to sink into this wounded earth."
The music video was directed by Shinji Saito, who has worked as a live concert cameraman for numerous artists. He has directed various popular songs, including Moriguchi's "Uchu no Kanata de" (the theme song for the fourth chapter of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin OVA series) and "Torigago no Shonen" (a song for CR Fever Mobile Suit Z Gundam).
The clip was filmed in three locations that capture the mysterious and magnificent images of the song and the film, and lasted over a period of two days. Moriguchi uses her entire body to express the major theme of the song, creating a music video that truly conveys the "birth of life."
