Do yall remember this post about Hirarin participating in a Kiramune live drama reading event?? Well, they've finally updated the site with the story and cast photos, along with a video on their official Youtube channel!

Here's a very rough translation of the synopsis: After the fourth World War has destroyed nations and continents, the world looks very different. Our main character, Kudou Makoto, who works for a manufacturing company, gets called in by the company president. He's given a document with the word N.A.O written on it, which confuses him since he's never heard of them before. When talking to his former university professor, he's handed a business card that reads "N.A.O., Area J branch manager" and is told that his strength is needed. His ordinary days are about to end as he questions his beliefs and the existence of good and evil.

Each reading will be performed by separate casts so there are two people playing each role. General info below~

^Kudou Makoto - Eguchi Takuya and Kamiya Hiroshi^ After graduating from Tachikawa National College department of Robotics, he became an ordinary man who developed products to aid in disaster relief. Was invited to to develop for the N.A.O Area J branch by his mentor and former teacher Tachibana. Lives his life upright, and strives to help others. That was until his supervisor, Kureha, revealed a hidden truth to him...

^Idzuru Yakumo - Kimura Ryouhei and Namikawa Daisuke^ Makoto's childhood friend. Graduated from the same department of Robotics at Tachikawa College of Technology and works in Area A after transferring from N.A.O Area J. Decided to go back to Area J on the same day Makoto was moved to that area. Confronts Tachibana about moving Makoto to Area J because he's known him for so long and worries. He has a strong sense of justice and excellent grades. He also has internal struggles of his own that come to a head.

^Tachibana Seiichirou - Miki Shinichirou and Konishi Katsuyuki^ He's the N.A.O Area J Branch Chief of Staff. Taught both Makoto and Yakumo in college. He's the one who personally recruited Makoto to work in Area J. Is gentle yet strict with a flexible way of thinking. He makes the best decisions he can in the moment, ven if he has to remove his own emotions in the moment. Left behind his wife and daughter in the country side to work hard.

^Sakuma Hideo - Seki Toshihiko and Furuya Touru^ Commander in Chief of N.A.O Area J Branch. Ruthless and will protect Area J at all costs. He doesn't speak much and carries out his decisions without second guesses. He is beginning not to trust Makoto. Lost his wife and child in the previous war.

^Aoyama Keigo - Yonaga Tsubasa and Okamoto Nobuhiko^ N.A.O Area J branch operator. Knowledgeable in IT and works hard. He believes you cannot protect what's important to you without power. Has a lot of admiration for Sakuma and does his best to help Area J in his own ways. His older brother and parents in the last war.

^Kureha Suguru - Yoshino Hiroyuki and Hirakawa Daisuke^ N.A.O Area J Branch Development Office Manager. He's doubted the intentions of others since he was a child and doesn't trust anyone, including his own family so he only opens his heart to machines because he knows they can't lie. He's an eccentric person who loves the machines he makes like they're his children but is very knowledgeable system development. Calls Makoto "Mako-chan"

^Hino Mirai - Uemura Yuuto and Hozumi Yuuya^ A trainee at N.A.O Area J. Is a bright student and the top of his class but always falls behind Seira in their last skill exams but because of his personality he admires the other student rather than being jealous of him. After losing his parents, he now works hard to take care of his little sister, the only reaming family he has.

^Sumeragi Seira - Yoshinaga Takuto and Horie Shun^ Another trainee at N.A.O Area J. Although he got the top score in the recent skill exam, he's only average at everything else. Is shy and rarely talks to his classmates. He lives alone and doesn't even know his parents.

Sorry if anything is off, I just tried to get the basics of each character. All the guys on the left side are one cast and all the guys on the right are the other cast. Anyways, the story sounds really interesting and the cast is obviously all star, no mater which performance you're talking about! I just need them to sell blu-rays or online viewing tickets!!!!!

Why Jujutsu Kaisen’s Deaths IS Good Writing

| | SPOILER ALERT ; my hero academia season 6, jujutsu kaisen season 2 | |

I’ve seen this brought up a lot on Twitter, the argument that Gege Akutami doesn’t know how to write and the deaths were just lazy writing. This argument stems from My Hero Academia’s Paranormal Liberation War (PLW) and Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shibuya Incident (SI) being out around the same time. This will be discussed for anime only as I’ve only watched the anime for both. Spoilers for both.

Without diving too deep into what PLW was about, I will explain only the things that are important to what I will discuss. Class A-1 has about 20 students and their teacher Shouta Aizawa, this means all 20 students along with a fellow class and other pro heroes were involved in this war against the villains while SI had Yuji Itadori alongside his classmates Nobara Kugisaki, Megumi Fushiguro, Maki Zen’in, Toge Inumaki, and Panda. With the students with Utahime Iori and the sorcerers. Akutami makes it very clear that they are not afraid of killing off characters. What made me very nervous was the fact there was an extremely high possibility for my favorite characters to die, which some did. The characters in the PLW are packed with main character armor which doesn’t make me feel much fear for them as in the end none of the fights scared me.

Satoru Gojo being sealed into the prison realm is what makes the viewer afraid, without one of the most powerful characters out it raises the stakes. Having main characters be on the chopping block is what makes writing unpredictable, a popular argument is that the writing is simply just a shock factor which I don’t agree with, While the deaths were shocking, they served some amount of purpose, for example, Junpei Yoshino who died in season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen. Junpei served as the first of Mahito’s victims related to Yuji Itadori. An important thing to take into consideration when talking about deaths in Shonen anime is that there needs to be something at stake, something that makes you feel afraid for the characters. Whenever I see a villain on screen I feel an instant rush of fear for the characters, take the scene in episode 18 of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 where Kento Nanami is fighting the transfigured humans at the train station. With half of his body being burnt there's a sense of fear, then Mahito appears behind him. That scene was beautifully done as we see Nanami fighting until he can’t fight anymore, the pause as relief rushes through your body until Mahito is shown then Haibara is shown. It’s a pretty realistic scene if you ignore the curses and fictional elements. Now compare that to watching the fight between Fumikage Tokoyami, Keigo Takami, and Dabi in PLW.

There wasn’t any fear considering it becomes painfully obvious that the stakes aren’t up when the ‘good guys’ are constantly given plot armor and win every fight with little to no long-term damage as Keigo’s wings work again after a while.

During the Hidden Inventory episodes with young Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, and Riko Amanai, while yes Riko’s death was very sudden at that moment, it served as a starting point for what is one of the best-written origin stories. This will be a completely different post but Riko’s death holds a long-term effect as it kickstarts the downfall of Suguru Geto from his cult to his death in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Now compare that to the death of Jin Bubaigawara in PLW whose death only starts Himiko Toga’s mental breakdown and a realization that she and her friends could very well be next but it holds no other importance after her fight with Uraraka and Asui afterward. While I’m not trying to praise Gege Akutami as a writing God it’s important to take in the factor of death holding long-term importance in a series.

Another good example is the fight between Aoi Todo, Yuji Itadori, and Mahito. During the fight Aoi cuts off his hand after being touched by Mahito, therefore removing his ability to use boogie woogie later on in the story aside from the one he did by clapping Mahito’s hand in what could probably be in my top 5 moments in Jujutsu Kaisen. Moments like Nobara’s death hold some importance to the characters and act as motivations rather than  just something to get a gasp out of viewers. It’s easy to say that Nobara and Nanami’s deaths kickstarted the snow scene between Yuji and Mahito, showing a very new side of him. 

In conclusion, I don’t think the writing for Jujutsu Kaisen is lazy. I believe that killing off characters is something that should be seen as good rather than fully negative just because your favorite character died. [VIDEO] Musical JAMIE: The Musical "JAMIE" is Now Available to Watch Online

With the double cast of Morisaki Win and Takahashi Fuu as Jamie New, both versions of the Musical "JAMIE" have been made available to watch online.

Both versions feature Sato Ryuji as Dean Paxton.

NOTE: On the broadcast day, Yabe Masaki (the W-cast for Dean) had been a close contact of someone who had tested COVID-19 positive. During this time, Ryuji took on the role as an emergency replacement. Because of this, Ryuji performed for five consecutive performances on three consecutive days without a break.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT

Dean Paxton is a classmate of Jamie who bullies Jamie for being gay and for wanting to be a drag queen. However, Ryuji puts his own spin on the role, bringing to life a Dean whose confidence and popularity hides a boy who is as conflicted and insecure as the Jamie he bullies. 

Even as he watches Jamie grow into his own, Dean finds himself being pushed to the fringes, and we watch as Dean’s shields crumble, leading to the final explosive but also incredibly sweet confrontation between him and Jamie. 

Ryuji’s Dean has a subtly different relationship with Win’s Jamie and Fuu’s Jamie, and an incredible chemistry with both of them.

Japanese honorifics are one of the ways that people show respect when speaking to each other

"Honorific" means to give or show honor or respect. Honorifics are small words that come before a name (prefix) or after a name (suffix). Most Japanese honorifics are suffixes and most English honorifics are prefixes

Ex. In English, we use Ms., Mrs., Mr., and Dr. Before someone's name to show respect

Japanese honorifics are used after a persons last name. They are only used after first names if you have a close relationship or for a child.

They are both informal and formal and almost always used when saying someone's name. It's considered quite rude to say someone's name without an honorific.

Honorifics:

-San

Can be used for anyone regardless of age or gender

Neither casual nor very formal

The safest choice if you're meeting someone for the first time

Add -San to the persons last name

If friends or family, you can add it to the first name

Example(s):

Formal (at work): Yuko Nakagawa -> Nakagawa-san

Informal (w/ a friend): Keiko Ono -> Keiko-san

-Chan

Informal

Used mostly for girls between female friends of any age

Also used for children

As well as showing affection to something you find cute such as babies, pets and lovers

You could sound rude if using this with people older than you

Sometimes a persons name is shortened when using chan which shows deep affection

Example(s):

Michiko -> Michiko-chan -> Mi-chan

Yoshino -> Yoshino-chan -> Yo-chan

-Kun

Informal

Used for boys or men younger or the same age as the speaker

Often used by teachers toward male students and casually by older men to younger men in the workplace

Both males and females can use kun when speaking to a child or teenage boy

Kun can also be used by females to show affection to their male partners (in this case they can use their S/O's first name

Example(s):

Yū -> Yū-kun

Tadashi -> Tadashi-kun

-Sama

The most formal honorific

Part of polite language called Keigo

Used in business situations and for people of higher rank

Sama is so polite that it's also used to refer to Gods as in Kami-sama

You'll hear sama be used in shops and hotels in Japan when employees talk to customers (kyaku in Japanese)

Another Japanese honorific -O is used before kyaku as in o-kyaku-sama

This is considered very polite

Mametaro -> Mametaro-sama

-Sensei

Sensei means "the one who came before"

It's used for teachers, doctors, politicians, lawyers, and people who are masters in a certain skill

To be safe, always use -Sensei instead of -san if you know you are speaking to someone with this title

In school, students sometimes drop the last name of a teacher and refer to them simply as Sensei, especially while in class or passing. This is more familiar but still respectful

Example(s):

Aizetsu -> Aizetsu-sensei

Michiko -> Michiko-sensei -> Mi-sensei

-Shi

Shi is a formal honorific used mostly in written documents to address someone who you probably haven't met in person

The persons name will be written and then followed by -shi
