An illegal immigrant man has been arrested for the shooting death of two sisters in their home in Dallas last week, while he also allegedly shot his daughter during the same incident.
Jose Santiago Chairez, 50, has been booked into the Dallas County Jail, and faces charges of capital murder and aggravated assault, according to Fox 4 KDFW.
Chairez allegedly shot sisters Catalina Valdez Andrade, 47, and Merced Andrade Bailon, 43, in the head inside their home in Farmers Branch on Nov. 24 at around 4:20 a.m. Farmers Branch is a city in Dallas about 11 miles north of Downtown Dallas.
Chairez’s daughter was also at the home and was shot in the arm, per a police report viewed by The Dallas Morning News. She told officers her father shot her and the sisters, according to the report.
A motive for the deadly shooting is unclear. It is also not known what type of relationship Chairez had with the sisters or why Chairez’s daughter was in their home at the time.
Chairez was arrested on the day of the shooting and was given a bond of more than $2 million. He also has an immigration hold that prevents him from being released, according to Fox 4.
The shooting took place in the 13200 block of Castleton Place.

‘You Mexicans shouldn’t be here’: Man killed neighbor in front of his kids
Lonnie Ray Holcombe
A 54-year-old man in Texas was arrested over the weekend for shooting and killing his 49-year-old neighbor in front of his son and daughter.
Lonnie Ray Holcombe was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with one count of murder for fatally shooting Carlos Gonzalez, court documents reviewed by Law&Crime show.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Gonzalez on Saturday was hosting a large family party at his home in the 900 block of Hoke Smith Drive in Dallas to celebrate his granddaughter’s sixth birthday. Police said the party continued after the children slept.
As the festivities continued, Gonzalez’s son returned to the residence in his pickup truck with another man. Police wrote that the pickup truck was also playing music loudly.
Holcombe, who lives in the adjacent house, sat on his porch when the pickup truck pulled in front of Gonzalez’s home. Police wrote that Holcombe grabbed a BB gun and “fired multiple shots at the pickup truck, hitting it and causing damage.”
The man with Gonzalez’s son was also struck by at least one of the BBs Holcombe shot.
The shooting took place at about 1:15 a.m., police said.
The son and the other man then went to Holcombe’s residence to confront him about shooting the BB gun. During the confrontation, Holcombe allegedly struck Gonzalez’s son, prompting Gonzalez to leave his home and go to Holcombe’s.
During a physical altercation "suspect Holcombe pulled a .9mm Taurus handgun out of his pocket and fired it one time, striking [Gonzalez] in the chest."
Both men then returned to their properties, and several people called 911 to report the shooting and request medical assistance.
Gonzalez was transported to Methodist Central Hospital, where he died. Holcombe told officers that the BB gun and handgun were on his front porch, and he consented to both being seized, the affidavit said.
Speaking through a translator to Dallas Fox affiliate KDFW, Gonzalez’s daughter said that her family had feared Holcombe for some time. She also indicated that race and national origin may have played a role in Holcombe’s alleged animosity towards Gonzalez and his family.
“He actually told them, ‘You Mexicans shouldn’t be here. You Mexicans shouldn’t be here. You need to go back to place,'” the translator reportedly told the station.
Holcombe is being held in county jail on $250,000 bond.
The family has set up a GoFundMe:

After an 80-year-old janitor had to return to work after his rent was increased, Texas high school students raised more than $250,000 to help him retire.
The janitor, known to students as Mr James, returned to work in January after his rent shot up by $400 a month, according to KDFW. The students at Callisburg high school, about 80 miles (130km) north of Dallas, started their campaign last week and shared it on TikTok, hoping to raise $10,000. As of Friday afternoon, it had received nearly $270,000.
James’s story underscores the severe financial barriers older Americans face.
Millions of Americans are working into the years when they would typically retire – by 2030, the number of people aged 75 and older in the workforce is expected to grow by 96.5%, according to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics. People aged 75 and older are the only age group for whom the labor force participation rate is expected to rise over the next decade.

Manhunt underway after two men get shot in domestic dispute in Oak Cliff neighborhood
A domestic dispute escalated into a shooting in Oak Cliff early Thursday morning, with Dallas police searching for the suspect.
Two men and a woman were arguing at an apartment complex near the intersection of Bonnie View Road and Illinois Avenue at around 2 a.m. Reports suggest that one of the men was the woman’s boyfriend, and he allegedly was trying to strangle her, per WFAA.
When the woman asked a third man — purportedly a former boyfriend — to come to the apartment, the clash boiled over, and the latter allegedly shot the two men.
Officers with the Dallas Police Department arrived on scene, but the suspect had already fled.
One of the victims was seriously injured and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, per reporting by Fox 4 KDFW.
One of the men had sought help at a fire station down the street and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting occurred in Council Member Carolyn King Arnold’s District 4, which has seen growing rates of violent crime these past few months.
As of May 15, there had been 14 murders committed there this year — a 16.7% uptick year over year.
Two were categorized as family violence crimes in the City’s crime analytics dashboard.
Although assault offenses have decreased compared to 2023, a whopping total of 869 reports have already been logged.
Of these, 229 were aggravated assaults, meaning this violent crime is occurring at a rate of more than one per day in District 4.
As covered in The Dallas Express, Arnold has been active in a multijurisdictional public safety and community partnership called #Dallas365Safe.
This partnership aims to reduce youth crime by forging strong relationships between the police and the community.
“If you see something, say something. And if you know something, do something. That is the only way we can have a community that is 365 Safe,” Arnold said at a meeting in April.
People of color, and black men in particular, have been disproportionately affected by violent crime.
Of the 15 murder victims in District 4 so far this year, 12 were black males between the ages of 16 to 42, two were adult Hispanic men, and one was a black 80-year-old woman, per City data.
DPD has been short-staffed, dampening efforts to curb crime and maintain adequate police response times.
The force fields roughly 3,000 officers despite a City report recommending closer to 4,000.
DPD’s resources are also stretched thin due to only being budgeted $654 million for this fiscal year.
The Dallas City Council opted to spend considerably less on police than the leaders of other high-crime jurisdictions, including Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles.
The recent ninefold crime rate clocked in Downtown Dallas compared to neighboring Fort Worth’s city center, which is patrolled by a specialized police force and private security guards, is but one example of the effects of these shortfalls.

An employee at a North Texas Wingstop fatally shot his boss and wounded another coworker after an argument inside the restaurant Monday night, police said.
Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Marc Leon, who was arrested near the scene in Irving shortly after the shooting.
Homicide detectives learned that Leon had argued with one of the victims, a manager who asked him to leave the business, Irving police said. Leon shot that victim multiple times, killing him, and the second victim was wounded by stray bullets, police said.
Officers responded to the Wingstop at 963 E. Irving Blvd., near Nursery Road, about 7:30 p.m.
One victim died at the scene. The wounded employee was taken to a local hospital, and he is expected to survive.
An arrest warrant affidavit obtained by KDFW-TV identified the manager who died as 19-year-old Christopher Govea. According to the affidavit, Leon shot Govea after the manager tried to send him home.
The name of the other victim has not been released.
