Okay, I'm not actually good with numbers so I'm going to ask you as you seem like you'd know: with Kayla and Skye out of the picture, if Shilese is injured, how possible is for Brazil or China to best the US in TF without the US having a complete meltdown? (I don't mind if Simone goes out of bounds or falls on vault, but I don't actually want to wish them a kidney disease flareup or a panic attack)

Again these teams assume the best possible outcome for the US team and counts on everyone hitting everything. Which on that team I think I would only trust Biles to do. It also assumes a Biles Cheng instead of a YDP because that's what she did in the team final last year.

And this uses all US domestic scoring.

I'm still inclined to say they win... but if they have a (non injury disaster) ... a couple of falls, Lee is getting more realistic E scores, they get hit by the floor artistry truck... and the Brazilians might get close. But the problem is the Brazilians have to hit too.

Hello, I’m Kayla! I’m, as probably noticeable by my spelling, not American haha. Yeah I guess that’s it. I’ve never been good at talking about myself.

when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom?

I watched it from the start, but somewhere around episode 3 I started actively looking into the fandom and by the end of ep4 I was already in a discord group and writing my first fanfiction. The rest, as they say, is history XD

As much as I love episode 5, episode 3 is probably the episode I’ve watched the most haha I just love watching Pran coming out of his shell (even if he does get crushed in the very next episode T-T)

The Rooftop comes in at number 1 every time, but also the fight in front of the apartment block just before it, the bus stop scene and guitar scene in ep3, the balcony scene in ep8, the bedroom scene in ep9, so many scenes in ep11, and everything after Pran turns up at the apartment in ep12. Serotonin factories every one. 

one thing you would change about the show if you could

I’d have liked Pat’s anger in episode 7 to have been dealt with a bit more definitely but they pulled it back by giving it proper consideration in episode 11.  Honestly I would have also loved more flashbacks to their pre-transfer era as well as a little more on Icy Pat, but I understand why we didn’t get them.

This is a difficult one for me! So I actually did a list of my favourite bad buddy edits here and also fanfics here and here plus I’m pretty sure I did another, but can I find them? No. So I’m gonna add to this by saying also anything by @miscellar (aworkingprinter on AO3).

Some of my own favourites? Well, that’s trickier haha! Probably A Fine Line Between Hormones and Home, The Space Pirate and the Officer of the Law and, just because it was my first fanfic in the fandom, He’s No Romeo.

Pancakes for Dinner by Lizzy McAlpine always makes me think of pining Pran, Heather by Conan Gray also gives huge Pran in episode 4/5 vibes. Alas I can’t think of one that screams Pat though I know I have thought that about songs before. No doubt I’ll be listening to a playlist tomorrow and be like “oh yeah, this one!”

So out of the 494,256 words I’ve written on AO3 over an 11 year period, 426,682 of them were written in the last 3 years and all for the Bad Buddy fandom. If that doesn’t encapsulate both my obsession and love of this show, I don’t know what does haha

First day back after the winter break! Here’s how things have been going:

First class of the day was somewhat overwhelming, but I got to sit next to Kayla, which was fun. We shared a lot of ‘wtf is going on’ looks.

My next class.. didn’t happen. There was no prof when I checked online, and no prof there when I got there. I met a ton of other students who were just as confused as I was… so weird. Last term it took about.. 1.5 to 2 weeks before aural skills started up due to placement tests. I also heard a rumour of there being a staffing issue, so its possible that there’s no prof at all! I… I love it here ;-;

Once I left, I ran into Ethan, so we went out for coffee. It was nice to see him again after like.. 3 weeks? He was just as bubbly as ever, although seemed quite tired. Apparently he’s volunteering at a youth orchestra, which is super nice. He was talking about how he wishes it was summer, and that we can explore the city once it warms up. I fully agreed, it would be fun.

Now I’m basically waiting for my private instrument lesson. I know Leo’s is before mine, and I found a place to write near our lesson room… which is kinda creepy, but I do want to say hello, if only briefly. It’s either that or I sit in my car by myself, in the dark of the parkade… yeah, I’ll take sitting in the nicely lit, pleasantly busy hallway where I can people watch and perhaps poetry write.

Leo and I have been getting quite close over the last term, and over the winter break we were calling each other almost every night. It was amazing. I could talk to him for hours. I DID talk to him for hours! He’s such an intelligent person (to his own detriment at times- he tends to think himself into a hole). Although I must admit, his lack of enthusiasm for academics is disappointing, I try to remind myself his problem is not with learning but with institution we study at (and with systematic learning in general). There is a slight irony in my fascination with him despite my desires to become a secondary school teacher. He has jokingly stated I’ll “destroy the system from the inside”. I don’t know how much of that I’ll achieve, but I’ll certainly change what needs to be changed in order to best suit the needs of my students.

Currently on my listening list is Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in Bb Major. It’s one of the many concertos we’re performing in the CO.

And during my ramblings, Leo and Daniel (our private instructor) have both come in… late. Just… lovely.. Meaning my lesson will be late. Meaning I’ll be late to my next class. Awesome… Count on the men to make me late as per usual.

It’s nice to see Leo again, and not just hear his voice (although I do love his voice). He’s just as cute as I remember him. His hair is incredibly fluffy today and I want nothing more than to run my hands through it. Although that’s not very… platonic of me. Instead I will awkwardly sit outside of the room, listen and wait. Nothing better to do anyways. Well, I guess it’s time to write something?

I wasn’t able to really.. write anything but this post, but I’m posting the best of my poetry so that it’s somewhere at least. Maybe one of these days I’ll show them to Leo? I don’t know. I feel scared. But listening to him play through the closed door is… comforting. It feels like we live together and I’m listening to him through the wall. It’s pleasant. And lord knows I need pleasant.

FX/VT - Jade, maybe jordan if she has an upgrade

BB/?UB - Suni (even without a 15 UB routine, that beam is hard to leave) ; MAYBE Skye if she gets it together but suni would be the "taken for BB" girl if they decide to do that

FX - Kaliya if Jade doesnt upgrade (its hard for her will just 1 event with Shi looking so good there)

Needs something big to happen to have a chance - Gabby NEEDS a big UB at this point, i really think her BB composition is terrible and isnt getting her on the team and VT is her best rn and good DTYs are a dime a dozen among the contenders; Trinity (FTY hurts her, and she isnt getting on the team with 3-5th ranked UB), Josc (her ankles may no longer exist) ; Tiana looks like a prime alt candidate along with Katelyn Jong

So barring injury or something catastrophic, I think Simone and Shilese are locks for the 5 member team. Do we think anyone else is a lock?

If the team is going to be 3 AAers plus 1 VT/FX and 1 BB/UB and assuming Simone and Shilese have the first two AA slots locked down, I actually think Jordan makes more sense as the VT/FX gymnast than either Jade or Josc. Jordan has a tendency to falter in the AA but do well on individual events. Her DTY is really nice and really consistent and I'd be perfectly comfortable having that instead of Jade's Cheng in a team final. That leaves the third AA spot open for someone like Leanne or Kayla who is maybe not a very interesting gymnast but can provide four solid scores across the board. Then who fuckin' knows for the UB/BB slot. That would have been nice for Konnor (sobs). But it would be nice for Skye I suppose because her balance beam has good potential. And I have my doubts that Suni will be bars ready in time.

I think we can have a good US team without either Jade or Josc. Can someone tell NBC that?

in kindergarten, bc my parents were always working, i usually didn’t have anyone around to pack me a school lunch. so i used to go to school everyday with two lil packets of chips (in USD, i think it cost like 25-30 cents to buy both?) and i’d give them to other kids in exchange for proper snacks like sandwiches or granola bars 😌  (yes, what i’m saying is that fetus izzy invented the barter system 😤 )

i can read two non-Latin language scripts (Hindi and Arabic). my Hindi isn’t perfect, but i can usually get by in conversation. as for Arabic, i know the alphabet and can read the words out loud, but i’ll have no idea what i’m saying 🤡

i really like indie music + cinema! my music playlists usually have a lot of riot grrrl, dark house, synthpop and some 90s stuff. as for cinema, i find a lot of random shit on reddit (a couple of Bollywood ones too) and often drag my friends into watching them with me (they hate me for it but idc 🥰 )
