One could discern an expression of utmost distrust spread across his features towards the culinary skills of the architect, especially after the blond imbued self with the finest samples of his wine. Again. Sleeping outside on cold brick pavement awaited someone today. Without blanket.

Exposed to be the villain all along, the Serpent of the Abyss was trebling in fear within her dreamscape, begging the Traveler and their team to kill the one who took control. And now? Awake as she was, chained in the jail, feared by others, hated by those who learned the truth. Only a couple of guards, the Sages, Traveler, Paimon, Cyno, Alhaitham, Tighnari and Kaveh knew now. Only they did, but soon some more will know as well as she'll have to stand for a trial before those who felt betrayed, bitter, and shocked. What a joke. Ah, but she didn't dislike it. It was getting boring to pretend to be so good, it was too easy to fool them all for so many years, but there were some people she didn't enjoy changing her opinion about her.Â
The sound of the door opening brought her back to see who it was (just like the guard), but she didn't have a good view of who was entering the jail. Thanks to the guard, she learned immediately who it was: the highly esteemed Kaveh, the beloved architect of Sumeru. And, well, someone she did consider a friend. Perhaps, a past friend now that the truth has been shown and the dreamscape proved her merciless nature. A nature of someone who survived the coldest and harshest winters of Snezhnaya, who withstood torture, who made beasts fear her... all because she wanted to control what was feared, to protect and to keep her people safe. But also exposed her as a person who loved chaos, enjoyed playing with people, and was only found out because she dropped hints and wanted to see the reactions of others. The delightful high she felt when manipulating others was true, she enjoyed every single second of it, and she will enjoy it even more when the trial begins, but right now? Kaveh was here.Â
"Have you come to say bye-bye, Kaveh?" Zarina twirls a lock of her silver hair around her gloved finger, the shackles on her legs clinked as she would move them, crossing her legs to sit more comfortably while facing the architect. "You know, coming here would make things just a bit tougher on your reputation if this will come out. Did they send you to interrogate me through the power of friendship?"
There was one thing Zarina knew: she didn't save Kaveh because she just wanted to prove a point, she saved him from being stabbed by the serpent because she did see him as her friend. Perhaps, one of the smallest number of true bonds she established in the Akademiya. As much as she would try to push him away right now, the fact that she saved his life will remain true, the biggest evidence that if she cared about anyone - it was him, her friend, her closest friend.

The Gazetteer - Tips for writing a guidebook to your setting
Hullo, Gentle Readers. This weekâs Question from a Denizen comes to us from our friend Graham-chesir. They say, â Hello again. Here's a question, If you were to write a guide to a D&D setting you've created, what layout would you use to make it easy to read & understand?
Well, Gc, it wouldnât be the first time Iâd sat down to write a guide, though working on one and finishing one are two very different things.
If I were preparing an actual book for a setting, I would look towards already published books for a format to work in. Both Eberron and Wildemount have recently gotten books published on them, and I think they have good formats. When I was experimenting with putting Shards of the Shattered Pact into a book-like format, I thought I would make a section for each country similar to the 3rd Edition Eberron Campaign Setting. As a result, each entry would look something like this:
The Name of the Country (along with any special nicknames it might have, such as the way Dalenshire is known by some as the Bayou Grande, or the way Gristamere is sometimes known as the Goblinblight or Kurdenheim as Dwarvenhome.)
Capital - just the name of the capital city
Population - some notes on what races are most numerous there, with a rough idea of percentages. For example, Summerlund might be noted as Human (85%), Tiefling (9%), Halfling (6%). Obviously there are other races living there, but not in percentages high enough to overtake the others.
Exports - Some people donât have an interest in this, but I have a mild fascination for what different countries might most be known for. Summerlund, for example, has excellent horses, as well as being considered the bread-basket of the continent, Kurdenheim exports weapons and marble, and Gristamere is known for its whiskey.
Languages - Just a note of what languages are mostly commonly spoken there. Common is fairly universal, but knowing elvish is going to get you further in Faerinwold and Tavanion.
I would then write a descriptive few paragraphs about the general geography, weather, and âpersonalityâ of the area.
Industries - This would be a section to go further into what the country is good at producing. Kurdenheim is known for the surpassing excellent of its steel weapons and armor, as well as marble and other quarries, its mushroom farming, its banking, its jewelry-making, and its smithing in general.
Life & Society - I would talk here about what daily life is like in this country. Is it cosmopolitan? Agrarian? Militarized? Under martial law? These would all come across here, as well as a sense of the countryâs general âalignmentâ.
Government - I would use this section to talk about the ruling bodies of the country. Faerinwold is less a country than a loose conglomeration of elvish tribes that work together for protection. Gristamere is very much an oligarchy of warlords under the fist of the Zhakastir. Summerlund is a feudal society with a king and/or queen, three dukes, and numerous counts, barons, and lords.
Religion - Is there one deity that is predominantly worshiped in this country, or is there a pantheon? Faerinwold is more druidic, Tavanion follows the three goddesses known as the Sisters, Summerlund venerates the family pantheon called The Twelve, and Gristamere follows the god Kavesh.
Power Groups - This is a good place to talk about different groups within the country. Is there a well-known knightly order that operates there? An adventuring guild? An evil priesthood?
Major Settlements - I would talk about the nature of the capital city (if any) here, as well as any other well-known cities and towns. For example, in Eberron, Wroat may be the capital of Breland, but Sharn is arguably far more famous and fabulous.
Important Sites - Here would be a good place to talk about well-known âtourist attractionsâ. Is there a famous church, castle, university, or library? A well-known dungeon like Undermountain or the former site of the Temple of Elemental Evil? A battlefield? A famous geographic feature like Sherwood Forest, Devilâs Tower in Wyoming, the Great Barrier Reef, or the Rock of Gibraltar?
Having said all of the above, however, I ultimately decided not to go the guidebook route for my campaign. I decided to make it a Wiki. That way, I could continue to add to it and expand on it. You can have a look at that project over at https://shatteredpact.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page Youâll see that there are entries in the list with no text yet. I feel like this world will continue to grow and expand, and I can tell you that there are entries that wonât be visible to you yet, because they represent aspects of the world I havenât revealed to anyone yet. My world grows and expands in my imagination, and the PCs havenât caught up to it yet. Itâs possible that those entries will never see the light of day, or they might be revealed by later campaigns that Iâd set in the same world.
I hope this helps, Gc. Let me know what format you end up going with!

KAVEH ( @kavesh ) INQUIRED OF AL-HAITHAM: â  why do you even have to ask? â
Another peaceful evening at leisure transformed into a thunderstorm with precipitations in the form of taunting remarks. The thin line of lips treacherously stretched into a complacent smile at the query of the blond man, the scribe did develop a penchant of entertaining self that way, taking into consideration that sometimes a subtle mockery could not be grasped by the other. "To ascertain your level of intelligence, why else." Or fuel the embers of their perpetual blaze of bickering, when the distinct boundaries of origins for dispute became blurred and only insurmountable want to exasperate another remained.
He spoke deliberately slowly and with a perceptible undertone of jest, occasionally unintentional verbal callousness begat by logic and rationality would mold into calculated assault, precise and merciless, and its primary target was always the one. The light of Kshahrewar. Amongst the diversity of people he was familiar with, that man tugged at the impish string the most and hence had to suffer the consequences of own actions, or words. "And sometimes it does take a moment to process what nonsense comes out of your mouth." There was no delusion that his commentary would spark another vivid and fervent reaction, nonetheless it would be sufficient compensation for the latest skip of rent payment.

Favorite thing about them:Â "I enjoy hearing about his passion. Within the Akademiya, I became... all too bored with the talk of logic, rationality, and science. I excel in those, but they do not touch human emotions as art does, which Kaveh brings up to me. His sincerity and ability to stay true to himself in this environment? I must applaud him for that, and so should anyone. Have you seen how his eyes light up when he talks about architecture? About art? Have you seen his concentrated face when he works? I do not keep boring people close to me. Kaveh? Haha, he'll never be boring. And... he will never turn his back on you. He truly feels like a breath of fresh air. I lucked out with this friendship.â
Least favorite thing about them:Â "It would be nice if he could handle his money and become more independent. I think the only reason I wouldn't really go into a long relationship with him if such were to happen is that I do not enjoy someone depending on me too much. It's also why I get pretty strict with Kaveh as a friend, and I would not hesitate to pinch his cheek or drag him by the ear if he does something stupid. Well, it's just what I like the least about him. I just need to remind myself not to treat him as a puppy, I can get... a bit domineering. Nevermind. He'll learn how to use his money better with time.â

He has never stopped fascinating her. A young man, an embodiment of art's fickleness and freedom, the true personification of how the process of art can become. So flexible yet so reckless, but a colorful mess nonetheless. A mess of the brightest shades that would create the prettiest picture in the eyes of those who knew what to look for. Zarina was one of the people who knew what to seek out, witnessing the blossoming flowers of creativity and potential. The ignited desire to see how far he would go and how much he could withstand in this environment that denied him, his skills, his whole existence, and his passionsâshe wanted to see human potential, the brightest of the colors anyone can bring into this world, and into her world as well.
This was why his presence was so surprising to see. He is a special one. One she protected with her own life, her mind and soul registering him as "one of her people" without question. Pain in her chest would echo the past experience, the serpent's attempt to survive foiled as the ritual would be activated, and the merge would happen. This potential, this blossoming flower, this spring. After winter dies, spring will come and will continue bringing life. If she could describe Kaveh as anything, it would be 'vibrant life.'Â
"Hah," she can't help but let out that repressed chuckle. He's right; he never cared about how others talked about him. The guard looks at them with suspicion, but mostly because he is concerned about the 'renowned Kaveh's' safety near the 'traitor.' One of Mahamata, he is under the direct service of General Mahamatra Cyno. Not a surprise they put someone like that to watch her. "You brought your sketches? Why is that?"
She didn't need to wait for the answer as he reached for the pages, showing her the sketch he was working on. Immediately, she knew where that scene was from. The scene from the dreamscape. The discovery of her dominion over the Abyssal Serpent, its screams for help silenced as the Serpent that took on her appearance would be beheaded and disappear to prove that the one dominating remained a singular human. Lesser Lord Kusanali, shocked by the discovery, would be shocked to discover an ancient being defeated within a mind. But why did Kaveh draw that scene? The moment of exposure of her true horror? The beast in the beauty? The cold-hearted ruthlessness and viciousness?Â
"No, but you seem to be taken hostage by my reality as an artist. The showcase of humanity's duality... Quite shocking how you can pretend to be a saint when you are the devil," Zarina pushes back her surprise as she looks away from him. She never looks away, never. But right now? She does. "So what did you come here for? To show me how you memorized the moment of my mask slipping? Tighnari and Alhaitham came over today's morning. They were quite... Well, hah, they've had a lot to say. What do you want to tell me?"
well respected, it was a jocular sort of thing. to be tethered to a certain empathy by association, as if they felt the burden of guilt for someone elseâs crime. he wanted to scoff at their pitying glances, at their stances as they shifted uncomfortably and so they should - what words of appeasement did he need from those who couldnât even form an opinion of their own volition. that was the world they had co-existed within, had laughed, derisive at as they feebly attempted to preserve their fountain of pristine knowledge, never to be contaminated by something as filthy as a falsity. It was sickening, watching them fawn over their truths as if they were the sole prosperity offered to them, as if their vapid brains couldnât fathom a future without someone to spoon feed them facts. that was what it meant to be an artisan of a craft frowned upon. art , in its many forms were disregarded by the sages as frivolous but none of them had the audacity to hold a brush nor pencil, had the fortitude to delineate the beauty in that which they feared. even as she had shown herself to him, brutal as she was in all forms, within, as she stood, hair flared behind her in undulating waves; she was the same person she had been for their time trapped in that scholarly prison. The guard whispers to him caution and he waves him off, dismissing him with a mere flick of his wrist, disdain in the fact that he would even breathe such blasphemy into his ears. â to say goodbye.â a solitary brow arched and he sunk into the corner across from her, sketch pad tucked neatly under his arm. roseate lips, so customary to a pout, are fixed in a firm line. â you think i care about what they say about me.â he was reputable in his expertise and if those fools were so blinded by their own tiny perception of the world then good riddance, he could find his mora in other, more accommodating places.  â you donât know me as well as I had thought zar.â he splayed the book out before her, its pages unfurling to reveal her, distinct outline in all her glory - vicious and unyielding. â do you really think me so dull as to be unable to form a thought of my own.âÂ

Every time a new DLC or expansion for ESO comes out, I fall back in love, and I can't help but try to fit it into my internal role play for my main character Kavesh.
Which in turn makes me fall back in love with Queen Ayrenn again.
(Currently she is both worried sick and hella jealous of her Khajiit husband like HOW DARE HE GO OFF FIGHTING DRAGONS WITHOUT HER.)

When You Click Buy on Amazon, It May Be Sweating the Supply
Mr. Kavesh, 57, who is based in a Seattle suburb, said that the factory in China that produced his cowboy hats was closed and that he did not know when it would reopen. Even after the factoryâs workers return, the facility needs wool from its Chinese suppliers to make the hats.âThe key component â they donât know when they are going to get that,â he said.It takes about four months for his orders to be made and to arrive in the United States, Mr. Kavesh added. That means he typically would have products already in process for Prime Day, Amazonâs two-day shopping deal extravaganza, which usually falls in early July.Amazon appears to share the concern. On Wednesday, it sent an email to a beauty supplies brand asking whether it expected to have enough of its top five products this summer.âAmazon is trying to establish an inventory risk for your business moving forward and specifically for Prime Day,â said the email, which The Times reviewed. âWe appreciate your feedback by TODAY.âMr. Naim said some brands he worked with had pulled back on their ads on Amazon by 25 percent to 50 percent, and had stopped promotions they had planned, to preserve money and inventory. Other sellers said they were contemplating whether to raise prices to prevent â or at least delay â running out of stock.Eddie Levine, who has been selling on Amazon since 2012, shipped more than 130 containers of toys, housewares and other goods from China last year, largely to offer on the site. He has cautioned the brands he works with against raising prices, saying that if a $20 product suddenly costs $40, âthe last thing you want is a bad review saying itâs not worth $40.âBut if the virus disruptions persist into late spring or early summer, âpeople will have to raise prices without even having the option because there is just no stock,â Mr. Levine said. âThatâs pure supply and demand.âKaren Weise reported from Seattle, and Michael Corkery from New York. The Goblin-Kingdom of Gristamere â A Legend of the Shattered Pact
If you ask the goblinoids who live in Gristamere who the natives of the continent of Aldorath are, they will immediately tell you that they are the true original inhabitants of the continent, and itâs hard to argue with them. Along with the halflings of Dalenshire far to the south, there are few sentient humanoid races that can claim to have started in the lands once ruled by the Seven Kingdoms. The Dwarves and the Hastane humans came from the lands of the giants across the Frozen Sea. The Kelrentai and Summerling Humans, the Tieflings, dragonborn, and many others came from over the Bright Sea to the east. Gnolls and Orcs prowled from the far southern continent of Turkhast. And the elves, eladrin, and gnomes of the west came from out of the Feywild. But goblins seem to have come into being here on Aldorath, and that gives them a unique perspective on the fall of the Seven Kingdoms.
At first, goblins came into being in the northern reaches of the lands, but they soon spread south and east looking for fairer climes. When they reached the badlands of what is now Gristamere, they settled in and began eking a living from the land. Eventually, they discovered iron in the hills and began making better weapons than the crude items of bone and wood they began with. They quarried stone out of the rough land and built many castles, including the original Kuhrzhakkos, the great guard tower that stands at the center of their capital and gives it its name.
They fought many terrible beasts, and they claimed the land. Slowly, the hobgoblins gained the favor of one of the deities that was watching this wild, difficult land. This god, Kavesh, gave them dominion over their cousins, the goblins and the bugbears, and the hobgoblins organized and built their military. Soon they began to expand, and they found other races ripe for conquest. The Kalrentai, who were the first humans to walk the lands of Aldorath, werenât prepared to deal with the discipline and ferocity of the goblinoids, and they found themselves quickly a conquered people. Likewise, when the goblinfolk encountered halflings far to their south, they found this little folk to know little of war. They soon spread their fingers further and thus began their downfall.
When they delved into the lands of the west, they discovered the elves, who had inhabited the forest of Neldorin for ages, as well as the recently arrived eladrin. Neither of these fey peoples would yield, and they despised the goblins for their enslavement of others. They began to fight back, aiding the Kalrentai and freeing them wherever possible. Further, in the north, they soon found the newly arrived Hastane and Dwarves to be terrible enemies. They began to lose ground, and, finally, they reluctantly withdrew to their own lands of Gristamere, the lands they had fortified the most. For over two centuries, an uneasy detante existed. They would strike out to conquer with some successes, then fall back. It seemed likely one side or another would soon declare a terrible war against the others.
Before this could burst into full warfare, Shalana Silvermyst called a Conclave of many of Aldorathâs powers, and she shocked many by offering an invitation to the Zhakastir or âHigh Commanderâ of Gristamere. And the Zhakastir surprised many by accepting and arriving under a truce. Together, this group allied against the invading orcs from the south and formed the Seven Kingdoms, the alliance that kept peace in the lands of Aldorath for seven hundred years.
All of the peoples of the Seven Kingdoms benefitted from the alliance. The Gristameri contributed many things to the alliance, including knowledge of many cunning siege weapons. But deep in the heart of every goblin was the knowledge that these lands had once completely belonged to them. This galled them, and many zhakastirs toyed with the idea of leaving the Seven Kingdoms. This is why, when the Witch-Queen came to the zhakastir with an offer to have them double the amount of land they controlled, the goblins decided to betray the other kingdoms, shattering the pact that they had formed.
The Second Witching War that followed was devastating to all sides. In the end, Gristamere did not double its lands, the Witch-Queen vanished, and the various kingdoms lost the trust that had once held them together. They all walked away, any question of alliance with Gristamere off the table for the foreseeable future.
While none of the remaining kingdoms trust the goblins completely, Summerlund continues limited trade with them. The dwarves and Hastane particularly despise the goblinfolk and laugh at the idea of the Seven Kingdoms reuniting. Nevertheless, while the goblinfolk remain reviled, they do not openly make war against the other kingdoms. Most assume that they are waiting for some signal or weakness that would bring them back into war, to attempt to conquer the lands they once ruled.
