I bought myself the box set of the manga and it is GLORIOUS. The movie is so incredible, but it barely even scratches the surface of this series, which makes sense, since he wasn't done writing it when the film was made.

It might be the best manga series of all time. I'm not taking arguments or refusals. This shit slaps on so many levels it's almost impossible to quantify.

Pages from the first volume of AKIRA (アキラ), written and illustrated by Katsuhiro Otomo. It first appeared as an ongoing serial in Japans Young Magazine from 1982 until 1990. It was later collected into six volumes by various publishers.
