What I also find totally crazy is the fans labelling him as a ‘pure soul’ just because he had a foundation for kids, like come on now, okay? I'm not saying that's not a good thing to do. I have mixed feelings towards him too (MN) sure we have to respect footballers private life but this behaviour is embarassing. you're the captain of germany and bayern, everything is in the public eye and not only bayern fans judge you but the whole country especially non bayern fans who want a new captain for germany. Lahm and Schweinsteiger would never have this behaviour. Herr Kimich should be the captain by now

You know, it’s difficult. A part of me agrees with you, especially because the whole issue revolving around his divorce (+ his new girlfriend being significantly younger than him) just leaves a bitte taste in my mouth (basically everything relationship-wise seemed fishy to me ever since he cheated on Kathrin Gilch after WC 2014). On one hand he surely is a role model and needs to take care of what he says/does, etc and there are definitely things worth criticizing. On the other hand I still believe that putting public figures on a pedestral will never help us progress from stereotypical and toxic expectations that can never be reached - it’s his life after all, people can comment on it since he’s putting this stuff out there himself, but in the end, it’s his decision what he posts. And to be fair, I don’t think that this picture was too bad or even embarrassing - it’s silly, sure, but really, there are much worse things to post. Personally, I am a fan of men showing their dorky side, not being afraid of being silly and showing vulnerability. 

I don’t think this should affect his standing as captain of the German NT. I’d rather criticize the lacklustre criticism he puts out there like a broken record that gets paid to say certain things. He obviously tries not to stir up drama when it comes to the state the NT is in and thus continues to give very general statements. It’s the safest route - and the most obvious one. So I don’t believe for a second that he’d get replaced as captain - at least not until the EUROs. Afterwards, there’ll be a whole new chapter, that’s something I’m sure of.

About their relationship: Manuel and Nina know each other since spring 2014. They have met for the first time at the club ‘’Avenue’’ in Berlin in March 2014. FC Bayern celebrated there their Meisterschaft. Before the World Cup 2014 she visited a game of Germany with a friend. During the World Cup Manuel was with his ex girlfriend Kathrin Gilch in Brazil. After the World Cup they broke up after several years. Manuel and Nina were seen first together in summer 2014 in Berlin. Nina moved to Munich in 2015. She studied Business Administration at the University of Berlin. Now she probably studies in Munich. The couple married on June 10, 2017 in Italy.

Private Life: Ninas full name is Nina Sophie. Nina has 5 siblings and Manuel has a brother called Marcel. Her father is a well known business man in Berlin who is host of the Aids Foundation Gala in Germany. Nina is friends with FC Bayern WaG Lisa Ulreich and Ann-Kathrin Brömmel.
