Guess it’s up to me to get this fandom started on Tumblr.
So, hindsight in Murder By Choice is very interesting. I took screenshots of all the dialogue and going back afterwards is insane once you know the ending.
SPOILERS AHEAD (I don't know how to make things "below the cut", so apologies, everyone!):
So, Margot asks you, when you’re looking for Q on Sunday morning to go find Miraculus, if you’re looking for Freddie. FOR FREDDIE. And she had just murdered him the night before. I wish I could’ve said yes so that I could see how she would respond (don’t remember if there was an option to choose your response or if the answer was just automatic).
Also, looking back at Margot and Freddie’s interactions, you can tell that Carla’s theory, that the murderer was using Freddie like a puppet, was spot-on. The two were always sitting or standing next to each other, as I’m sure Margot wanted so she could keep an eye on him and tell him things she wanted him to do, and they were always civil and very polite towards each other. In fact, the last time we see Freddie alive, he’s actually sort of ~comforting~ Margot after the boat had burned down--ironic since Margot burnt the boat down in the first place and no doubt that Freddie knew this since he probably had to help her somehow.
It’s really cool how this game uses the deaths of each character to really move the story along. Like, Lukas and Freddie are continuously mentioned all the way until the end of the story, so much so that they’re almost alive in a unique sort of way. And Portia’s death really drives Ruben’s involvement in the investigation, to the point where Carla pretty much never does anymore investigating alone after Portia’s death--Ruben is either always involved or always with her.
Also, Ruben being Carla’s biological father was also seriously foreshadowed prior to that reveal. Portia’s over-the-top hatred of Carla (even Mrs. Bird comments how Portia’s been unusually cold since Carla’s arrival) and her extreme stalking of Carla, including hoarding pictures of her ~entire life~, which is insane, by the way, and definitely not healthy (A lot of what Portia did wasn’t healthy, and she would’ve had to go through some major life changes had she survived, especially with Janet and Ruben’s new relationship. She probably either would’ve been forced to quit as Ruben’s assistant or left on her own due to their relationship, and knowing what we do of Portia’s character, that seems extremely unlikely, so that’s probably why she was killed, as there was just no way for her to move on after the story.); Ruben’s extreme overprotectiveness of Carla, including freaking out when they found her unconscious in the cavern and after she’d been shot at and even standing up against his best friend for her; him making her the ONLY OTHER PERSON IN THE ENTIRE WORLD who knew the code to the Vault. I saw a comment from someone else saying they had guessed that Ruben was interested in Carla, prior to his confession about being her father, and I second that because I thought the same. We hardly get any Ruben×Janet interactions until the end of the story, so it’s really hard to see them paired together (and I’m still not really sold on the pairing), and Portia is Portia, so it’s hard to see that, and in the regular dialogue, Ruben doesn’t really look that old (in the comic scenes he looks much older), so imo, Carla and him made a great couple. (FYI, in the next story, I really hope we see Carla get a love interest. I like the whole independent female thing they have going on, but just like Anna and Luigi from "Murder In the Alps", it can work out really well [as long as they don’t leave it open-ended again!], and since the same company produced both games, I have faith in them being able to give Carla a love interest, like they did for Anna, without taking away her independence.)
I’m super excited for "Wedding Bells" to come out! Hopefully it’ll be sooner than later!

Hello~ I hope you're having a wonderful day! ^^
I absolutely loved reading your thoughts on my last question. Your responses always make me smile! It's not just that I agree and relate to them, but it's also so much fun talking with someone who loves and appreciates Elain and Lucien as much as I do <3
Let's keep the fun going with another question ^^
What AU couple(s) do you think has the most Elucien vibes?
Also, what are some of your favorite fictional couples besides Elucien (they don’t have to be limited to books)?
- Your Secret Santa 💗🦊
AHHHHHH HI SECRET SANTA
Sorry for answering late, I took a looong nap haha.
I’m not sure what you’re asking for on the first one, so I hope this is what you were looking for!
Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are SOOOOO elucien coded. Nick being sly as hell (and a literal fox??) and teasing Judy and Judy being prim and proper yet matching him for every stroke!
I shared this video here some time ago, but this is literally Elucien!
youtube
Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are SOOOOOO elucien coded! I headcanon Elain as a healer, and Rapunzel can heal. people. with. her. HAIR??? And Flynn being this snarky, smooth talker who’s rendered completely awkward around Rapunzel??? Magnificent. Flynn showing Rapunzel the lanterns 🤝 Lucien showing Elain the tulips
Lastly, Finnick and Annie are so Elucien coded! Imagining Elucien in the Hunger Games, I imagine it would’ve gone something like that! Elain is more resourceful than people realize, so she could’ve won just like Annie, but it would hurt her. It robbed her of her light. She becomes close to the Elain at the beginning of ACOWAR. Meanwhile Lucien being so fucking hot that it’s literally pointed out by everyone but he’s in love with only one person. And Finnick and Lulu are both SA victims 😢
As for my favorite ships…
I recently got into Star Wars and when I tell you I have the biggest Anidala (Anakin and Padme) obsession 😩they’re actually happily married and living with their twin children your honor.
I love the Bridgerton TV show, but of course my favorite couple is Kanthony (Kate and Anthony)🥰. Ugh, their RAW chemistry on screen…you forget that Jonathan Bailey is actually gay😂
(also a bonus but Kanthony is regency Neris coded)
I loooooove Snowbaird! If I had a nickel for every time my blonde hair blue eyed blorbos fumbled a baddie and became a genocidal dictator, I’d have two nickels, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
My bio says Jurdan (Jude and Cardan), but Ima be real I’m not a huuuge fan of the ship because of how Cardan treats her in the beginning… I’m more just a Jude fan haha.
Elide and Lorcan from Throne of Glass has my whole heart! My favorite SJM couple that is confirmed endgame! Ruhn and Lidia from Crescent City is amazing too!
My first ever OTP was Percabeth (Percy and Annabeth) from Percy Jackson and they will always hold a special place in my heart even if they’re not my CURRENT obsession.
Maxon and America from The Selection is pretty great too!
And of course, I’m a P&P addict, so Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy has to be on here😍
A super niche one, but Queen Katharine and Pietyr Renard from the Three Dark Crowns series is so beautiful too!

A few of my reading stats so far this year.

Have you ever read the Mansfield Park fanfiction Everingham by Katharine T (katharhino)? If you did, I'd be curious to know your thoughts about it.
I have. It's a decent Mansfield Park variation. The author seems to have a pretty good handle of the characters and the plot moves well. It is a gripping read.
However, this is a bit of a difficult question. I am aware that Everingham is one of the first MP variations to have Fanny end up with Henry, and as it is unpublished and given the culture around critiquing JAFF, I don’t want to come off as too harsh, but I think this story has some problems.
The timeline for the story is a bit off, Henry was supposed to meet Maria at the Fraser’s party, so he can’t have already met her, formed the plan to flirt, and then decide not to go to the party. Also, his motivations of going to Everingham at the beginning are whimsical or even lust driven, instead of out of a desire to improve himself.
I think the characterization of Mary tends to veer a little into Isabella Thorpe, which is not her character but it’s a common mistake and one that I catch myself making. For example, Mary can’t decide on earrings and throws herself onto the bed in despair. That is Isabella, not Mary. Mary doesn’t do that sort of silly drama.
The biggest issue though is that the story seems to blame Fanny almost, for being too scared (?) to love Henry, instead of rightly blaming Henry for being someone who is not a good choice for a husband. Fanny does tell him what he did wrong (which she doesn't want to do in MP), but then we never have him really examining why his flirtation, especially Maria, was so bad. Or a proper apology. And then later we have this:
“Nevertheless I think Mr Rushworth is quite often jealous where there is no cause” - Henry
Which Fanny accepts! We know as readers that Rushworth was jealous with ample cause and so does Fanny! I really think Henry and Maria sitting cozy on the piano should have been a deal breaker for Fanny. To show that Henry is reformed, he should be avoiding Maria and creating proper distance between them, in my opinion.
I really dislike the jealous scene near the end when Fanny talks with Edmund and Henry gets mad at her:
"I find it hard to understand your determination to do what you know will hurt me. If you prefer your cousin's company to mine, very well; but at least have to courtesy to inform me of your whereabouts so I may not be reduced to asking the servants where my wife is." - Henry
She thinks she done wrong! Edmund is her brother-in-law and cousin, she has nothing to be sorry for! And I am not mad at the author, jealousy being shown as a good thing is a common romance trope, but jealousy without cause is actually a toxic relationship trait. After all, Fanny lived at Edmund’s house for a month and nothing happened and she has given Henry no reason to doubt her faithfulness. That isn’t healthy relationship behaviour, it is controlling and isolating.
And then we have this:
"It is not. I hesitate to confess, Fanny, for you will be so shocked," she [Mary] said, laughing. "It is an old dress I had made for winter two years ago, and I turned it and remade it. Do not look at my hem, for it is dreadfully botched. It is my first time turning a dress, but these are the straits we poor clergymen's wives are forced to. Is it not a horrid tale?"
I think people misunderstand Fanny saying Mary will be “poor” in Mansfield Park. Mary will be poor in comparison to her ambitions, but an income of about 1,700 pounds per year is not actually poor even for the gentry, it is similar to Mr. Bennet's income (Thornton Lacery’s 700 per year and Mary’s 20k dowry yielding around 1k/year). And at this point they have no children, so no, Mary does not need to remake a gown.
My personal favourite Mansfield Park variation is Fanny: A Mansfield Park Story by Amelia Marie Logan. Not only does it imitate Jane Austen's style in a way I don't think I've read before, Fanny does not change in her morals, Henry changes to meet her. And it takes a long time, which fits into Fanny's character.
Disclosure: My own Mansfield Park variation comes out next week, it's called Unfairly Caught. I accept criticism of my own works and I am not aiming to tear anyone down in this post. There is so very little Mansfield Park Fan Fiction that I don't feel any need to be competitive.
#mansfield park#jane austen#JAFF#everingham#fanny price#henry crawford#question response#problematic trope of jealousy#I actually thought my grown up relationship should contain bursts of angry jealously because of that trope#That is how pervasive and problematic it is#so I'm not calling out this author but the idea in general#Fanny can talk to her BIL and best friend without being questioned#mary crawford#please understand that I respect this author putting their work out there and I am not attacking them

Requests (5/24/17)
Here are all the requests I’ve gotten between Friday and now. If you’ve sent me a request since then (other than a game submission) you can find it here. Just so y’all know, any caption answered after today (and a few answered before today) won’t be going up until early July since I just filled up the June queue. They’re going to get posted, it’ll just be a little while.
Anonymous said:
I see you did caps with Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes from Riverdale. Could you do another two captions for both of them, and one with Madelaine Petsch from the show too?
I LUV these Riverdale girls! I’d be more than happy to do one of each. :D
Anonymous said:
Sarah Hyland used to be a ballet dancer or at least trained in it. Think you could do something where hse's training a sissy in her image to carry on that dream while she pursues acting and she's very strict? You can type in Sarah Hyland ballet, or Sarah Hyland Ballet gif if you want it animated =)
That sounds fun, sure thing. :)
Anonymous said:
Sorry to send two requests in a row. If you type in Sarah Hyland doll. She has a photoshoot, there's one where she has pink heels, and another where she is surrounded by dolls. Could you please caption both? I know that's a lot to ask. Was thinking maybe Sarah likes to collect dolls and she's a little vain so she decided to turn a boi into a sissy doll replica, the pink heels is him resisting and the one surrounded is her perfect doll
No need to be sorry. I just looked up the picture and I LOVE it! Totally gonna do both but there will probably be a gap between them so I don’t post two Sarah Hyland-s back to back, you know? But 100% gonna do them. :)

Hey, I was wondering if you make sequels? Because I requested the "Under your spell" caption a while back, and I loved the result. And I was hoping you could make a sequel where after the year is up, Callie goes back to Aaron's sister happy he'll finally be able to turn back and not have to endure all the kinky sex with her best friend anymore. But she tells him Aaron fell in love with her, so it's now permanent. Which makes Callie mad.
Every other Thursday I post one “Throwback Thursday” caption which is a sequel. So I can totally do one to “Under Your Spell”. :)
Anonymous said:
Can you do a Chloe Bennet Cap please?
Yep! :)
Anonymous said:
I love your caps so much!!! I was wondering if you could do a cap where Gillian Jacobs turns her boyfriend into Alison Brie
You bet, sweetie. :)
Anonymous said:
You should do one with Hayley Williams where she teaches someone to be exactly like her, then they go out on stage and be her when she doesn't feel like it, but backstage, they're her slave who does whatever she asks and gets fucked by her strapon every night.
I’ll do my best. :)
Anonymous said:
This is a specific request. Can you do a cap where a guy named Peter makes fun of his sister's goth look, saying that classy will get her more attention, and she turns him into Katharine McPhee when she was looking like Marylin Monroe in Smash? I can't share a link, but google will have it.
Yes! Luv Katharine’s Marilyn look so I’m happy to work with it.
Anonymous said:
Can you do one about a teacher who traps a sexist student who says "all woman should be in the kitchen", into a housewife in the 50's body? Idc which celebrity, whichever one has a fitting picture.
You got it. I’ve got a few celebs I can work with. ;)
Anonymous said:
Another Leslie Mann one?
Sure! :)

round up // MAY 20
When the going gets rough, I find I keep coming back to two kinds of movies: Romantic comedies and action adventures. For whatever reason, those are my comfort food, even if I’m watching someone get their heart broken or fight for their lives.
Hopefully you’re finding small ways to make your days brighter with books, movies, music, and shows that either help you fight or forget some of the darkness around us for a time. These were a few that made my month brighter, including a number of rom coms and action flicks.
May Crowd-Pleasers
SNL at Home
I almost cried for joy when I learned SNL would finish out its season even though it wouldn’t be in Studio 8H—it felt like a glimmer of a lot of joys we’ve lost in the last few months. While the At Home episodes have an odd rhythm compared to the usual broadcast (that live audience makes a difference, especially during “Weekend Update”), I still laughed every week. A few highlights:
“Bailey at the Movies”
“Dreams”
“Grocery Store”
“MasterClass Quarantine Edition” + “Another MasterClass Qurantine Edition”
“RBG Workout”
Watch those skits, then enjoy an infographic-heavy review of the season from Vulture.
Extraction (2020)
Is this a groundbreaking action movie? Heck no, but watching Chris Hemsworth fight to save a kid with a supporting appearance from David Harbour made for a great Sunday evening. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 6/10
The Wedding Singer (1998)
Somehow I’ve never gotten around to this rom com, perhaps because Adam Sandler’s sense of humor usually isn’t my cup of tea. But here he replaces the gross out jokes with a sweet chemistry with Drew Barrymore. I liked it so much I gave 50 First Dates a shot, but, uh, I only recommend movies I finish. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 6.5/10
Baby Boom (1987)
Another not-innovative genre entry, but a satisfying one. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 7/10
Action Movies set in 1700s America: The Last of the Mohicans (1992) + The Patriot (2000)
Sometimes I don’t want a complicated villain—sometimes I just want Jason Isaacs (aka Lucius Malfoy) to be so evil I want Mel Gibson to take him down with a tomahawk. The Last of the Mohicans: Crowd - 8/10 // Critic: 8.5/10 // The Patriot - Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 8.5/10
Taylor Swift City of Lover concert (2020)
I’ve seen Ms. Swift live twice and have loved the stadium tour spectacle. But an intimate show heavy on acoustic performance reminds me how well her songwriting holds up no matter the production
Prop Culture (2020)
I know, I know: Disney+ original series are well executed, long-form advertising. But can you find better-executed advertising than Jason Schwartzman chatting about the Mary Poppins snow globe at a piano with Richard Sherman, the character he played in Saving Mr. Banks? These staged treasure hunts for Disney movie props may be a bit self-important, but they’re also a dose of nostalgia and lessons about the technical side of filmmaking.
This Drake Bell TikTok
If you get this, you get this.
Silverado (1985)
My weird New Year’s resolution? To watch Westerns, a genre I’ve basically skipped until now. Silverado feels like a throwback to classic Westerns with a modern sensibility and more laughs. Plus, baby Kevin Costner and Jeff Goldblum in a fur coat! Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 7.5/10
Chromatica by Lada Gaga (2020)
Turns out I’m not just a fan of the A Star Is Born/duets with Tony Bennet/Joanne Lady Gaga. I’ve always been cooler on her electronic-dance-club Top 40 hits than her recent guitar-and-vocal stylings, but I can’t stop listening to album-long jam sesh. It’s old Gaga meets 2020 beats meets Depeche Mode/Flock of Seagulls/Madonna/New Order of the ‘80s.
The Heat (2013)
Two of my favorite funny ladies teaming up was—not surprisingly—a win. No one delivers a kooky insult like Melissa McCarthy. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7/10
May Critic Picks
Hail, Caesar! (2016)
Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, and more try to keep Hollywood and their careers afloat despite a bizarre series of kidnappings, line flubs, and tap dances. Of course the Coen Brothers have a dry, wacky take on the Hollywood studio era. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 9/10
Jane Eyre (2006)
Confession: I have not read Jane Eyre. But my mom did, and since she enjoyed the book so much, I figured a happy medium would be to watch this BBC miniseries with her commentary about what they changed from the Brontë classic.
Daisy Jones & the Six (2019)
The highest compliment I can give a book is staying up way too late to finish it, which is what I did with this buzzy Taylor Jenkins Reid book. It’s a barely-fictional oral history of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll in the ‘70s, and somehow it’s not crass or gratuitous about any of them. Most impressive is that Jenkins Reid keeps her characters well-defined even though it’s not written in a traditional novel format. My favorite parts of this story are the deep dive into the creative process and the exploration of how we remember the past. Here’s hoping the Sam Claflin/Riley Keough-led, Reese Witherspoon-produced, (500) Days of Summer team-written Amazon series can do this book justice—I need this soundtrack!
The Plot Thickens podcast (2020)
A Turner Classic Movies podcast hosted by Ben Mankiewicz about film history is a specific—and predictable—Venn diagram of my interests.
Alfred Hitchcock Double Feature: Psycho (1960) + The Birds (1963)
The story about Psycho goes that my grandmother ran out of the movie theatre screaming during the shower scene. Now that I’ve finally watched it, I know why. This horror drama is still terrifying today even if you know what’s going to happen. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 10/10
The story about The Birds goes that my mother was terrified as a little girl after walking into a room where it was on TV, and now she still won’t watch it. The Oscar-winning visual effects have aged so much I didn’t find it scary, but I was still sucked in by the eerie plot. That said, I did have a frightening dream last night involving Tippi Hedren, so it may be more effective than I realized. Give me just a sec while I schedule some Hitchcock-focused family therapy. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 9/10
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
Spend two hours with the two nicest bank robbers you’ll ever meet! A winsome Paul Newman and a laconic Robert Redford make their escape on the scenic trails of the Southwest, and gosh darn it, if they aren’t just a barrel of fun. I enjoyed this Western so much I recommended it in a piece I wrote for Round Trip, too. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 9/10
Katharine Hepburn Double Feature: Alice Adams (1935) + Woman of the Year (1942)
Saying you love Katharine Hepburn is like saying you love sunshine and flowers—of course you do! In Alice Adams, she’s an optimistic Cinderella with a down-on-their-luck family who falls for a high class fella (Fred MacMurray). In Woman of the Year, she’s a high-brow journalist who falls for sports columnist Spencer Tracy in their first of nine films together. She earned Oscar nominations for both, but I dare you not to fall in love with her after watching just one. Alice Adams - Crowd: 7.5/10 // Critic: 8/10 // Woman of the Year - Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 8.5/10
Also in May…
When you’re not allowed to travel, you get creative! For Round Trip this month, I recommended 13 movies about travel that will make you feel like you took the vacation COVID-19 made you cancel (including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid). And if that’s not enough, why don’t you recreate your trip? I turned my apartment into Paris, and here’s why you might want to do the same.
Kyla and I didn’t go far back in time for most of our Gilmore Girls pop culture references on SO IT’S A SHOW? We covered three movies (or two, depending on how you see it) from the 2000s with connections to this year’s Oscars, 8 Mile and then Kill Bill. We also looked into the famous architect Stanford White and a movie he was featured in, 1981’s Ragtime, which had more connections to today’s culture than we expected.
I made another attempt at Jim Jarmusch for ZekeFilm with Broken Flowers. I still don’t get Jim Jarmusch.
My movie count in quarantine is up to 156. You can see them all on Letterboxd.
