What made you decide to have Kate end up with Valentine? How do they play off of each other’s strengths/weaknesses? (Does Kate have any particular pranks she likes to pull with him?)
wish fulfillment
'oh no i want to kiss him. here, kate, you gotta do it for me'
I never really go into my first playthrough of a game thinking about who a romance choice will be, if those are available. I just kinda wait and see how things play out.
i knew ahead of time that he wasn't a vanilla romance option but that there was a mod, because a friend of mine lamented they couldn't use it on PS4 but I wasn't particularly expecting anything to happen and then I met him in-game and like two days later I went 'okay this is happening', I fell hard and fast
(when I finally got the brain to sit down and start playing fo4 for like the first month I was playing HOURS straight every day. hyperfixation activated. Love this series but missed the original release because depression so that's why I didn't get started until 2018)
but it did turn out that they worked... REALLY well together. a lot of parallels. It's not something I actually tried to make happen it just sort of .. did. Which is probably why I have a lot of trouble articulating the things I see, tbh
(Kate's not much of a prankster largely because she's a bit sensitive and just thinks 'oh but what if this backfires and everything goes wrong that's bad :(')

Fallout OC's that my brain just said do 'em and I did.
They don't have a lot of background behind, I haven't fleshed it out. Besides, I am planning on placing them outside the Commonwhealth, but eventually they go in because...FO4 is the only FO game I've played so, yes! :(
They co-exist with Kate! But never cross paths, one gets after or before events and never actually interact correctly. (Nick has a case file on both of them, lmaooo. There is a point where Nick starts hearing rumors about these two being in the commonwhealth so he tells Kate about it and she IS THRILLED to go back to working on cases. That's when they finally interact. )
Antonio alias "Scarecrow" is a funky little mexican man who is part of a "raider" gang on southeast of the contry, past the border that separates México and U.S. Just raids the rich, commits arson and vibes to corridos. Had a town there but was eventually replaced by a bigger settlement and the town people were kicked out. They tried to take it back. Antonio's gang are the last of them, 23 people, 3 who are important to his story. One of them is his sister Rosa, she's an absolute angel and the medic of the gang!
The nameless dude (I call him that because I literally haven't thought of a name for him), is kind of an enigma? I don't have his background yet but I have some ideas of what I want him to be. He's a mercenary. Quick, clean, quiet. He's kinda famous between raiders/gunners and shit but he's like an urban legend more than anything. He's good at cleaning up his mess and leaving no trace so he is very hard to track down. He kills anyone if the pay is good, but there has been times where he turns on the client. He is hard of hearing-non speaking! :)
How these two meet is, the dude who is "mayor" of this new big settlement pays the nameless dude to kill the leaders of Antonio's gang. He kills two of them, theres 4 leaders including Antonio. He gets injured while killing the second one, after a gun fight that sparked between them in a little town. Many innocents were injured in an explotion and some even died. The gang took in as many injured innocents as they could to help them recover, and Antonio's sister, Rosa, confused the nameless dude with a civilian so she also took him in.
Antonio was really stressed and grieving his fellow leaders death's. He eventually found out who the client was thanks to the remaining leader. Antonio decided to not look after the nameless dude who murdered his friends but go after the "mayor". In the time that this is happening, the nameless dude finally wakes up the day after they find out who the client was. Neither Antonio or Rosa knows that the nameless dude...is the nameless dude? so they treat him as the other civilians who were rescued. The nameless dude learns that Antonio and the gang are actually very nice people and he shouldn't have been blinded by the lies of the "mayor". Rosa knows sign language so she can communicate with the nameless dude. The nameless dude didn't tell her right away who he was since he didn't want to kill anymore people in the gang if things got tense.
And the rest is as you imagine it would go! Antonio and nameless dude become friends without Antonio knowing who nameless dude is, they spend little quality time together, learn how to communicate with eachother. Nameless dude eventually tells Antonio who he is. Antonio gets angy, but not enough since he already decided he was not going after nameless dude but for the "mayor" besides nameless dude is nice. They fall in love, bla bla bla. All that stuff.
So, when they go kill the mayor, Antonio and nameless dude get split from the rest of the gang who is headed northeast (to the commonwhealth) to escape from the big settlement guards n stuff. So that's when their quest start to go back to the gang :)!
(A lil' doodle of before the shotout started. Antonio was already flirting with nameless dude without knowing nameless dude was supposed to kill him. xD)

Miss Kate! May I hear a bit about your Dual Survivors? They seem very neat!
WELL HI. Sure!
This was an accident, as most of my OCs are at this point. I played through Fo4 for the first time as Quinn and and then decided to play the second time as her husband and then... things grew out of control.
This is under a cut because it got long AF.
Tumblr media
I named her Quinn Kendall-Hayes and then found Kendall Hospital in Cambridge and it all came together from there. She’s the granddaughter of the Kendall who founded it, and her family was part of Boston high society. She hated it and was super rebellious as a teenager, and she enlisted in the army as soon as she turned eighteen.
She ended up shipped out to Alaska where she worked mostly on base as a translator, but it wasn’t entirely uncommon for her to be closer to the front lines. She loved the front and thrived out there in the chaos.
That’s where she met Nate (Nathaniel) and they started dating. Nate’s just a sweet boy from Southie with three older brothers who were all in the military too. There’s a strong history of service in his family, and it really wasn’t a choice for him to enlist. He hated it a lot, and it made his high school sweetheart break up with him when he left, and generally he was unhappy a lot until Quinn swept him up in her whirlwind.
She went back to Boston after they got married and went to school, eventually getting her law degree and becoming a practicing attorney. Nate kept getting sent back on tours of duty until he was injured and lost his eye, and finally he got an honorable discharge and was allowed to move back home to be with Quinn. He got a job as a teacher at the local high school and they started their family, moved into a nice little house in the suburbs, and just... pretended to be happy there.
(Nate was happier than Quinn. She struggled with domesticity. They’d also always had a polyamorous relationship, mostly led by Quinn, and it’s weird just sitting in suburbia being parents.)
Quinn’s family connections got them into Vault 111, and you know how well that goes.
The only thing I changed here is that Nate doesn’t die before he’s refrozen, so Quinn has time to stimpak him back to health when she lets him out. They’re able to track down Sean together through the Commonwealth, and it’s both good and bad for them as a couple.
Nate doesn’t like the combat, doesn’t like the way the world has fallen apart, doesn’t like how feral Quinn gets when she’s fighting, but he admits it’s very hot when she racks a shotgun with one hand and then runs off to help a settler. Anyway.
Quinn likes that she’s not expected to sit at home and take care of Sean all day because she felt so stifled before. She’d prefer to still have Sean, but she doesn’t mind being free of those old-world gender rolls.
Quinn and Nate argue about how to handle the Institute. It’s bad, probably the worst argument they’ve ever had. She ends up refusing to go back to the Institute after Bunker Hill and leaves Nate to handle that alone. She can’t deal with adult Sean or how the Institue is being run; she also wants to work with the Railroad while Nate wants to work with the Brotherhood of Steel.
They split up for a little while, at first to cool down but then they just work through their opposing questlines for a while. Quinn spends most of her time with Hancock and they end up having a relationship. Nate spends most of his time with Piper and Danse, and even though he and Piper kind of make eyes with each other, nothing happens there yet.
Quinn finds Nate on the Prydwyn when she pops in to blow it up, and she gets him to leave with her. He grabs Scribe Haylen and they all leave together.
By this time, Nate’s become super disenchanted with the Brotherhood. He saw how they treated Danse and was infuriated, and Quinn tries not to say she told him so, but she thinks it too loudly and he picks up on it. He agrees to help her with the Railroad, and they make up both loudly and enthusiastically at the Home Plate after he admits he purchased it from the mayor.
They go in to end the Institute together, and take synth Sean with them. Quinn’s a little weirded out, but he looks so much like Nate that she absolutely can’t tell him no. She can’t watch him die after spending so long trying to find him.
(It’s about this point that Hancock tells Quinn he’s not comfortable with the arrangement anymore, and he loves her, but he can’t share her, and they break up amicably but sadly. Sorry.)
So now Quinn’s kind of back where she started. She’s got her husband (who’s elected mayor of Diamond City in a landslide) and her son, and they’re living at the Home Plate but she’s like... “I’m just supposed to sit here? All the time? I’ll die?”
Nate doesn’t want to wander around the Commonwealth at all, but he’s like... I get it, do what you need to do, and she keeps helping Preston with stuff whenever she gets too antsy.
They find a way to be happy and to keep improving the Commonwealth. At some point, Betsy shows up and they help her get back on her feet, and they send her over to Goodneighbor where she sets up with Dr. Amari and tries to recreate her research on modifying plants to thrive in the new environment.
At some other point, Quinn starts sniffing around Nate and Piper’s relationship, realize there are feelings there that were never acted on, and she’s like. Babe. Come on.
And then they become my Fo4 OT3.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Ok, so I know I requested companions reacting to Kate Bush, and you couldn't do that one, so, how about companions react to Sole singing and dancing Wuthering Heights? I figured that one might be easier, seeing as it's just one song. Just look up Wuthering Heights red dress version. (there are three versions, but the red dress one is my favourite) Still adore your work!
Okay so I found this song on Spotify and it didn’t specify the version. So. I hope it was the right version. But I actually really liked the song! It’s definitely waaay outside my preferred genre, but I thought it was beautiful. Please enjoy! 😊 (I’ll proof read and add a read more when I get home)
Fo4 Companions React: Listening to Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush
Sole and their companion were resting on a bench near the Cabot house just after a particularly exhausting battle with some Supermutants.
It was then Sole remembered a holotape they had found in one of the nearby apartment complexes. It was battered and had the words “Wuthering Heights” scrawled in marker.
Sole was familiar with this song— it was one that she had listening to countless time before the war. Now was as good a time as ever to play the holotape.
As soon as the song began, [companion’s] head whipped to the side, curious.
Sole swayed back and forth to the melody— to shy to sing in front of their friend. When the tune ended, Sole glanced at their companion to gauge their thoughts.
...
Preston: That was such a powerful song. Between the lyrics and the instrumental, it was touching.
Danse: That sound was surprisingly soothing. The piano work in particular was outstanding.
Strong: VOICE HURT STRONG EARS!
Curie: Oh! I do like this song, [Madame/Monsieur]!
Gage: Christ! Her voice is so damn high pitched! My ears are gonna bleed.
Codsworth: Ahhh some Kate Bush. How nostalgic.
Piper: Those vocals were incredible. I’m amazed by people who can master such a high pitch.
Nick: What an incredibly talented young woman. This song is beautiful.
Deacon: Heeey, that was actually really nice! Can we listen to it again?
Hancock: Mmm...definitely a song I could huff jet to.
Longfellow: My wife would’ve loved this song...
Ada: Bravo! That was lovely, [sir/ma’am]. I very much enjoyed that song.
X6-88: It was alright.
MacCready: Not really my style.
Cait: [tearing up] What!? I ain’t cryin! I got somethin in me eye!

Thus far in Fallout 4:
The world ended.
They killed my husband
Kidnapped my baby
I met Preston, and then subsequently a Deathclaw, so I said fuck that noise and put a hold on the game for a little break.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t actually want to play FO4, like do missions and shit, I just want to fuck around building up Sanctuary and marry Hancock.
Must I actually advance the plot? Is it not enough I build Dogmeat a doghouse?
