Free postage for the Young Puffin Modern Classics, costing £5.99 each? Hell yeah! Oh wait…deal expires in April 1999 :(

My favourite part about buying secondhand DVDs is getting leaflets advertising deals and events that expired more than 15 years ago. I would LOVE to get £3 off the really cool looking Hellboy-inspired red speaker or win a free ticket to a live show in Covent Garden or get the included digital upgrade of my DVD, but unfortunately it is later than January 2009 so I cannot.

#watching the worst witch tv series for nostalgia since I only ever saw the 8 (?) episodes I had on video as a kid #Kate Duchêne is as perfect as ever #anyway I bought a second copy of the first book last week in a charity shop cos my mum’s one is uh a sheaf of pages then half a book #and has been since I first read it aged 6 or 7 #so it was well beyond time we had a more readable copy #my own post

ONE YEAR!! 😚

It’s been exactly 365 days since I first watched the 1998 version of The Worst Witch. I still can’t explain why I felt such a strong connection to 98 Mildred and Miss Hardbroom’s bond, but something about this adaptation (and Kate Duchêne) inspired me to write my very first fanfiction.

At the time, I was in a really dark place, and pouring my heart and soul onto paper honestly saved my life. Since then, I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the support I’ve received, especially from those who have told me that my writing helped them too.

The kindness I’ve encountered on ao3, Discord, TikTok, Tumblr, and beyond has been so important to me. From your opinions, comments and kudos—to genuine friendships and advice—this fandom has made me feel so welcome.
