Am I seriously the only one who ships Darius/ Kenji?! I came on here after binging the show expecting a ton of gifs and parallels I didn't pick up on only to see everyone shipping Darius with Ben! They barely had a dozen scenes togetherWhat chemistry class are yawl taking?!
Every scene with Darius and Kenji is so charged and just a step off from romantic! I was shocked when Kenji got a crush on Brooklyn and then, they kept going with that, into the new show! I didn't even see Yaz/ Sammy coming, but when they did get together I was so excited like it would just be a matter of time before these two went beyond friends too!!!
#apparently I'm alone on this ship#and I'll sail off into the sun with it!#karius#darius bowman#kenji kon#camp cretaceous#camp cretaceous chaos theory#I could seriously rewatch this whole series again and write up charts on the romance between these two#I can name three scenes where karius could have become cannon#guys#there's literally a moment where Kenji wanted to impress Brooklyn#who IGNORES HIM#and then impresses Darius with the exact same spot on top of a waterfall with glowing dinos!!!!#hello!!!!!#is this thing on?!

The AMX-017 Gigantic was a planned nuclear-capable mobile suit designed by Axis Zeon for use in their Invasion of Earth, being one of multiple competing plans designed to tip the balance in Axis’ favour. The Gigantic was based on data recovered from the stolen Gundam Gp02 “Physalis” during Operation Stardust memory by the Axis Technical Fleet, and was designed for much the same purpose: the deployment of Tactical Nuclear Weapons. To this end it was armed with an Atomic Bazooka, for deployment of the nuke itself, and a beam saber, for the suit’s own protection. Presumably, it was intended to be deployed with an escort to cover for its lack of armaments (either that or the Axis engineers took the Gp02’s limited armament to be a feature, not a bug). The Gigantic was ultimately passed over in favour of the Dublin Colony Drop, which was ultimately successful for the Axis Forces, inflicting heavy casualties on Karaba and the AEUG, while resulting in the Earth Federation Government ceding Side 3 to Axis, returning the Republic of Zeon to their forces. Though the Delaz Fleets’ attack at Konpei Island (/Confeito/Solomon) demonstrated the power of nuclear weapons, the Axis forces lacked any nukes which could be utilised by the Gigantic. Following their failure to seize the federation asteroid base Luna II and the nuclear arsenal held there, the Gigantic was then mothballed, as it was unable to carry out its assigned task.
I do like the Gigantic’s design, you see the GP02 Influence, and yet there’s an obvious Zeon flair to the design. I like the white and purple colour scheme, it converts the same sense of danger as Haman’s Qubeley, and the art’s lovely of course. The large thrusters on the design also imply a speed, again analogous to those on the Gp02. The cockpit’s reinforced, suitable to survive a nuclear blast, and I love how beefy the head is. Sleek, yet armoured, designed to funnel blast waves around the body. The feet remind me of the Don, another Zeonic influence. It’s just rather nice. That said, I’m just now noticing that the elbows can’t bend, which is a choice.
Interestingly, in SD Gundam G Generation FIF, there’s a non-canon scenario where the Gigantic is Piloted by Karius, a surviving wingmate of Anavel Gato, the pilot of the Gp02, which is neat.
#love how I pick these because I haven’t much to say then write two to three paragraphs apiece.#Gigantic#sd gundam#gundam#ramblings#SD Gundam G Design Series#Gundam Stardust Memory#Gundam ZZ#Karius#Axis Zeon

My Bandcamp shuffle has been playing a lot of Black Editions' reissue of Nagisa Ni Te's "Newocean". I love the sound of Japanese pop that sounds heavily influenced by either or both The Pastels and BMX Bandits.
Bruit Direct Disques (Paris, France) is releasing a new LP from Tokyo based artist Kenji Kariu. The only songs available are "Water" and "And Then There Was Light...". Both songs carry on the excellent Japanese indie pop tradition. In fact, the Bandcamp write up mentions Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Stereolab or The High Llamas.

First update after two years: doodle batch!
1. Raskreia x Karias. This is one of my twitter friend’s favorite ship, and I’ve taken a liking to it too so here is a doodle! They’re pretty cute together imo! Big sis is delighted about getting a rose from Karias (ofc she’s not going to say that out loud) but Karias can always tell when she’s happy, so he’s beaming
2. Regis hairstyle re-style! Which one is your favorite? Btw I’ve always wondered how his default hair “tip” works. Hair gel? Psychic power? No idea lol
3. Seira has been learning how to make clothes! All she needed was a model. Rael volunteered to make her happy. Though he may or may not regret that decision later. Anything for Seira. Tao should run.

I'm thinking. In the banes of "if it's stupid, but it works, it's not stupid".
I remembered that our national children's poet was awarded by several nation's dentistry associations for his work. If I hum the songs, I might remember to brush my teeth more often.

Kenji Kariu — Rain/Water (Bruit Direct Disques)
youtube
Kenji Kariu’s songs land oh so lightly. The lyrics (in Japanese) are barely breathed. The melodies waft through gentle arrangements like dandelion fluff. The songs refer quietly to other songs— opener “And Then There Was Light” has the ineffable bossa nova lilt of, say, “The Girl from Ipanema,” while breeze-y, beachy “Umbrella,” borrows a sing-song-y tea dance tune from 1920s Broadway—but don’t over rely on them. Keyboards twinkle, percussion shuffles, the artist croons, and all is weightless, well-lighted and faintly unreal.
This is Kariu’s fourth album, following a stint in OWKMJ. It feels a bit less fragmentary and experimental than 2021’s Sekai, with stronger melodies and lusher (though still quiet) arrangements. Like its predecessor, it draws from all sorts of soft, non-rock influences, French movie soundtracks, Brazilian beach café music, arch 1990s lounge revival and the airier iterations of Stereolab. If you wish the Sea and Cake was a tad less abrasive, Kenji Kariu might fit the bill.
From the title, you might infer an aqueous theme, and indeed, you wouldn’t be far off. Boats, umbrellas, bubbles, sand and water populate these effervescent concoctions. Listen to “Boat” rocking woozily on a sea of pop that stretches and distorts like a well-loved summer tape left too long in the car player. Or consider “Sand”’s sense of wonder and melancholy, Kariu’s voice drifting out over languid drum machine and keyboards. “Umbrella” opens with a splash and ends with seagulls; in the middle, it executes precise and well-behaved pirouettes at a seaside ballroom. “Water” separates into fat rounded, drops of vocal sound, dripping judiciously over a warm tangle of guitars, a bright chink of bells. The songs slip by without friction, all pleasure, no sting.
There is one song with a certain amount of distortion, the buzzy, floaty “Convenience Store” flirts with rock but backs away, the slush of cymbals muted under sweet, insinuating tunefulness. But mostly this music hovers and entices and dissolves into sweetness. By the end, you may not be sure what you just heard, only that it was pleasant and you might want to hear it again.
