Inside the controversies surrounding Drake and 21 Savage’s latest album, “Her Loss”

Amidst the release of Drake and 21 Savage’s new album, several controversies have arisen between Drake, Vogue Magazine and other artists. Several artists are said to have been disrespected and thrown shade at throughout the chart-topping album, “Her Loss”. Artists like Megan Thee Stallion have fallen victim to the controversies surrounding the Torontonian artist's brand-new release. In addition to Drake receiving backlash for his shots at other artists, Vogue Magazine also filed a lawsuit against him and 21 Savage for their fake Vogue promotion poster. Despite the growing arguments with regards to the integrity of the album occurring on social media platforms, the album’s rapid success has evidently continued to overpower.
November 4, 2022, marked the release of Drake and 21 Savage’s brand new collaboration, “Her Loss”. Streaming on all listening platforms, the love rap album features several themes - women, partying, misogyny, and money. Merely minutes following the release, multiple songs from the album blew up on TikTok, Twitter and Instagram. Over 70k creators from all around the world have recorded themselves lip-synching to songs like “Rich Flex”, comedically mimicking how they think Drake and 21 Savage must’ve looked whilst recording in the studio. However, the success of the album is not solely due to the catchiness of certain songs, in fact, its success is primarily the result of the gossip associated with its lyrics and covert references.
Within minutes of the release of “Her Loss”, Drake and 21 Savage set gossip sites and pop culture news aflame due to references ranging from Serena William’s husband, Alexis Ohanian, to old quarrels within the rap industry, to an insult towards Megan Thee Stallion’s foot injury caused by Tory Lanez.
Back in 2015 before Ohanian and Williams were together, Drake and Williams were exclusively dating. They broke up in 2015, and she later started seeing Ohanian in May of that same year. When she married Ohanian in 2017, Drake began to throw bitter shots at the couple. In “Her Loss”, specifically “Middle of the Ocean” at 3:35, Drake calls out the Reddit founder in the lyrics; "Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie; He claim we don't got a problem but; No, boo, it is like you comin' for sushi". Ohanian responds to the subtle diss in his tweet, saying, "The reason I stay winning is because I'm relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do - including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter." This is not the first time that Drake has made subtly bitter comments towards Williams in his songs. He previously insulted the Olympian’s tennis career, claiming that he could beat her in a match in his 2013 track, “Worst Behavior”.
Despite the disrespectful nature of the rapper’s lyrics, the jab at Ohanian and Williams’ relationship was not the main issue that occupies pop culture websites and gossip columns nowadays. Rather, Drake’s controversial covert remark towards Megan Thee Stallion, whose foot was allegedly shot by Tory Lanez back in 2020, has taken the spotlight. The rapper, Tory Lanez, is currently facing “one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, concealed firearm in a vehicle”, according to a statement made by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. According to police reports, Tory was having an argument with a woman - identified as “Megan P” in a criminal complaint - in a SUV on July 12. As the woman exited the car, she was shot multiple times in the foot. Megan Thee Stallion, formally known as Megan Jovon Ruth Pete talked about the car incident during an Instagram Live on her verified account. She later posted a photo of her wound, which was deleted slightly after. In October 2020, legal authorities charged the rapper with felony assault, but he pleaded not guilty the following month. He is currently placed under house arrest as he waits for his trial after allegedly shooting Megan and assaulting the singer August Alsina in August 2022. If convicted, Lanez faces a maximum sentence of roughly 23 years. Amidst the allegations made against Tory Lanez and Megan’s public complaints, Drake threw his own shot at Megan through his lyrics in his new album, specifically in his song “Circo Loco”; “This b---h lie 'bout getting shots, but she still a stallion.” The singer responded to the underhanded insult on Twitter. She called Drake “lame”, and claimed that such conspiracy theories were weak and that they lacked proper facts or receipts. Artists like Sweetest Pie and other listeners shared their distaste for Drake’s biased lyrics against Megan.
Like previous tracks, Drake’s songs have a history of calling out people who he feels have wronged him through his lyrics. Evidently, the success of his collaborative album with 21 Savage is not solely due to its acquired traction and fame on social media platforms like TikTok, but a large part of it is the controversies surrounding the lyrical references themselves. His album is no doubt a fan favourite, but the issues that it set aflame have definitely caused a divide amongst his supporters and supporters of those he covertly mentioned in his music.

It is just one of you is better at colouring than the other which prompted the question. Sory if I was making the other feel left out. I don't know where you got the entitlement from. i'm just asking a simple question to not get barked at. I gave you an ooption without entitlement. Perhaps drink wine to calm the two of you. Please don't make assumptions. I'm not sure if I can take off the anon Cruz of what just happened. Happy Thanksgiving??
go fuck yourself and make your own gifs if you know what’s good, lol.

PSA: IEE11
Declarative Assertion
Hello Gamers! PS5 is a hot topic in the gaming community, particularly console gamers. It has been nearly 8 years since PS4, and the time has come for an update in the playstation line up. Though it while typing this, PS5 is yet to be released to the public.
Definition
PS5 has made its appearance around June of 2020, and some say that it looks like a sexy alien spaceship, Router, lab coat and even cell’s head from Dragon Ball. But let us not judge how this PS5 looks but instead let’s wait and see how it actually performs in terms of game performance.
Statistics
Looks can be deceiving maybe PS5 will out perform it’s competitors like the Xbox one and PC (which I doubt). Sony has confirmed that PS5 will be running on an AMD CPU chip that’s based on the third Generation of AMD’s Ryzen line. Showing it off like it may be capable of out performing some mid line PC builds.
Description
PS5’s AMD CPU chip will be a custom variant of AMD Radeon’s Navi family and will support ray tracing (which some PC builds can’t seem to handle). Win or His Loss?
Inside the controversies surrounding Drake and 21 Savage’s latest album, “Her Loss”
By Karissa Cruz

The rapper, Tory Lanez, was facing “one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, concealed firearm in a vehicle” back in September-October, according to a statement made by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. In October 2022, he was placed under house arrest as he awaited his trial after allegedly shooting Megan and assaulting the singer August Alsina in August 2022. Most recently, on December 23rd, 2022 in Los Angeles, Tory Lanez was officially convicted of three felonies following the shooting allegations. He was charged with “assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.”(ITV News) The star who was proclaimed guilty faces a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison and possible deportation back to his home country, Canada, according to CNN. Amidst the allegations made against Tory Lanez and Megan’s public complaints before they became official in the eyes of the court, Drake threw his own shot at Megan through his lyrics in his new album, specifically in his song “Circo Loco”; “This b---h lie 'bout getting shots, but she still a stallion.” The singer responded to the underhanded insult on Twitter.

These Are the Happiest and Healthiest Cities in America
This article originally appeared on Time.com.
Living near the beach doesn’t guarantee your happiness — but it certainly doesn’t hurt.
From Naples, Fla. to Honolulu, Hawaii, many of the U.S. cities that scored well on Gallup-Healthways’ newly released Community Well-Being Index are located on the ocean. Researchers analyzed 350,000 interviews conducted in 2015 and 2016 to rank 189 communities by physical, emotional, financial, community and social health. Naples came in first for the second year in a row, followed closely by other metro areas near the ocean, like Barnstable, Mass. and Santa Cruz, Calif.
[brightcove:5297212324001 default]
So is beachside living the key to health and happiness? Lead researcher Dan Witters says it’s not so simple: “Clinical depression is less likely, and healthy eating is slightly improved, but after that the advantages run out.” Holistic well-being is about more than good climate, Witters says. “You don’t need a beach to have someone who encourages you to be healthy; you don’t need a beach to learn new and interesting things; you don’t need a beach to get to the dentist.”

Highly ranked inland communities like Boulder, Colo. and El Paso, Texas had residents who reported feeling a strong sense of purpose — often rooted in a shared culture and a feeling of belonging. When people are invested in improving their community, they feel motivated to get out of bed each day, says Healthways president Karissa Price. “It isn’t just about Karissa Price. “It isn’t just about physical health or income — there is a larger need to feel connected,” she says.
Communities in the Southeastern U.S. and industrial Midwest were generally ranked lower in well-being, partly due to health problems including higher smoking and obesity rates.

As a result, a major part of our rebranding plan is to renovate the blog by updating our executive team, finding a better way to showcase our previous issues and changing up our aesthetic. Our Art Editor is going to create a new header and logo, while our Planet Webmaster is in charge of renovating the blog. We really want to grow our blog and the first step is renovating. Additionally, we are putting more focus on our Instagram account as well. The same logo for the blog will be used as our new profile picture for our Instagram account; @mw.planet. Along with our Planet Relations, we want to create aesthetically pleasing Instagram posts to draw people in and promote our work! We will also be using our Instagram account to promote many fun and engaging projects, so stick around for those! Overall, with this rebrand, we want to bring you a new Mary Ward Planet and expand our team’s amazing work to an even more amazing audience!
Now that we’re finally back to a completely in-person year, we decided to give the paper a chance to truly shine. Some exciting things that we have planned include a section in our Creative Spaces for writers and editors to share their own personal short stories/essays, in addition to a Reddit-themed section in Creative Spaces. Our newest feature called “Am I in the Wrong” is inspired by the new segment by Words from Ward, and story submissions will be open to all Mary Ward students. Students are encouraged to anonymously submit stories where they felt that they were in the wrong. We will be accepting submissions until November 21st, so submit your stories as soon as possible! In addition to our physical issue initiatives, another one of our goals is to introduce streeter interviews with different Mary Ward students on our Instagram, as well as create tri-annual news recaps on the happenings throughout our school community.
Overall, our plan for this school year is to bring new initiatives to our award-winning newspaper, recognized by the Toronto Star, to help give back to the students. All students are welcome to contribute by writing an article or submitting creative pieces to our creative space submission box! For any questions, comments, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to message us on our Instagram account, @mw.planet. We’re so excited for you to see what we have in store for our upcoming issue this December. See you soon!

That’s a wrap, Ward! Thank you so much for supporting the Mary Ward Planet this year and we hope you continue to do so! It was quite difficult to bring the newspaper back after an entire year and a half without it due to the pandemic, but we couldn’t have done it without our incredible team and school community. See you in September and have an amazing summer!

Virtual learning at Mary Ward - how it works and students’ opinions
How the experiences of online Mary Ward students compare to those attending in-person
Online student learning from home

As Mary Ward slowly edges back to normal learning, in-person classes have become the commonality among students. After almost two years of the pandemic, a plethora of students at Mary Ward were more than delighted to return to their regular classes. However, this semester looks a lot different compared to previous education models that we’ve seen throughout the past few years. As per ministry mandate, schools across the board have opened their doors for students to attend in-person classes through a modified semester system. In this system students will alternate between a week one and a week two schedule, each week consisting of two courses a day. As an alternative, despite the many requests to not have hybrid learning, the ministry has mandated that students can choose the virtual-learning model this year, in which they will attend their classes as a Mary Ward student with the rest of their peers, but through Zoom or Google Meets.
The integrated hybrid learning system has posed some benefits, as it is something that has never been done in the history of Mary Ward. It has allowed students, both at home and in school, to find new ways to connect in the midst of these unprecedented times. Based on a survey that we conducted for online students at Mary Ward regarding their current social and academic experiences, ten completed the survey. According to a student comment in our recent survey, virtual learning is seen to be a positively unique experience for them. The comment reads, “In my law class, me and my friend were the first people in our class to do an integrated class presentation, where she was an in-person student and I was an online student. It was great to be able to work on a presentation, present, and to reconnect and build a great friendship again.”
Despite the ministry option to join classes virtually, the majority of students at Ward have opted to join in-person. This has, according to the results of the survey, has caused a social divide between the 7 out of 10 online students that responded, their teachers and their peers. Currently, there are approximately 890 students in-person and 120 online. Despite the fact that 50% of 10 respondents claimed that online learning has relatively improved their academic experiences (i.e getting help with schoolwork, working on group projects, and taking tests), the other 50% of students claimed that it has poorly affected their social experience. This is due to the difficulties of students and teachers adjusting to the virtual and in-person learning model. Oftentimes, online students have claimed to feel less of a community sense compared to previous years. A comment from the online student survey claimed that, “when you're an online student, you feel more like an observer of the class rather than one of the students. I don't blame this on the teachers at all because they are doing the best they can with this situation and there is only so much you can do with technology. So we are limited to just watching, which can feel worse than not being present at all since you see everything you are missing out on and a whirl of emotions can erupt, anger, jealousy, sadness. Add the fact of being a senior and there is a crushing feeling that you are being robbed of the last moments and memories at Ward.”
Although virtual learning can increase access to resources and find new ways to connect with peers and teachers from the safety of your own home, its negative aspects appear to outweigh the benefits. According to the survey, 70% of students found that they felt more disconnected from their teachers and classes, though they understand that teachers are making the best out of a difficult situation. With the second semester dawning upon us, and it's supposed return to the independent learning system, many students hope that the virtual learning model as a Mary Ward student will further strive to become more inclusive for all in terms of mental health resources, social experiences, and monotony.
