Someone on Facebook today said something that really hammered it in:
[ID: a censored screenshot of a comment from Facebook that reads "The Sooner we all realize that [Bernie] Sanders exists soley to sheepdog progressive, anti-war, health and enviornment-oriented voters back into the democratic party, who then fail to deliver time and time again for 40 years, the sooner the party can implode and be forced to do some soul searching." End ID]
this, 100%.
"When Congress comes back in session, we're going to vote on my plan to stop sending arms to Israel!" Bernie Sanders proclaims
"Oh," you think to yourself, "When Does Congress come back into session? Surely it's before the November 5th election?"
*checks*
"Oh." You realize.
Because Congress doesn't return until November 12th 2024.
Literally a full week after the November 5th election!
One year since she introduced a resolution for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., said she hasn’t seen any indication that a Kamala Harris presidency would result in a different U.S policy toward Israel. “I have not seen anything different than, we continue to send the weapons to facilitate the violence,” Bush told The Intercept. “As long as we are continuing to send the weapons and the funding to bomb people, to destroy, to exterminate a whole people, then everything else is just talk.” Amid growing public outrage over U.S. support for Israel’s war, President Joe Biden has reportedly used tough language with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and in one instance, paused a weapons shipment. Yet there has been no fundamental shift in policy: the U.S. has sent $17.9 billion to Israel over the last year, and even as the administration this week warned Israel that its failure to improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza could affect U.S. military aid, a White House spokesperson said the letter was “not meant as a threat.” For Bush, the White House’s admonishments ring hollow so long as the military aid keeps flowing. “I hear the stern words,” she said. “We can’t say that we want the violence to stop, and then we help hand over the weapons that cause the violence.” Bush, along with Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., was one of the earliest congressional proponents for a ceasefire in Gaza — a position that was seen as a third rail in Washington. During a White House press conference, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre described calls for a ceasefire as “repugnant,” “disgraceful,” and “wrong,” while congressional Democrats piled on Tlaib. Since then, Israel has killed more than 40,000 people in Gaza and expanded its war into Lebanon, where it has also killed thousands of people. “We had foresight at that time,” Bush said. “Had the administration listened then, where would we be now?” ... When Congress reconvenes in November, the Senate will take up the Sanders resolution to block the $20 billion weapons sale proposed in August. Bush said a vote on the legislation is an important next step for Congress. “I do think that that is a critical move when we’re looking at what all we can do to end this cycle of violence,” Bush said, “and sending this clear message that the U.S. can’t continue to fund military action.”
Anyways, got $ and can help? Check out Gazafunds, which will give you a random, vetted fundraiser to donate to:

The Favourites -- 21, 22, 24, 28, 29, 30
The Dark -- 32, 33
21. Who is/are your favourite character(s) to write? Molly Hooper from my more recent writings, hands down. She's so complex and we fic writers can expand on that and make her a character deserving of ACD canon lore. I also have a soft spot for Don Flack from CSI: NY. He's a blast.
22. Who is/are your favourite pairing(s) to write? I love writing any and all pairings with my Little Black Dress characters throughout various fandoms (Buffy Summers, Spike, Greg Sanders, Calleigh Duquesne, Don Flack, Ichigo Kurosaki, Molly Hooper, Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock Holmes, Jim Kirk, Dean Winchester, Joan Watson). I also REALLY REALLY miss my two main Bleach pairings, Toshiro/Karin and Grimmjow/Neliel.
24. Favourite genre to write and read: Romance in any subgenre you can think of. I tend to, non-fanfic wise, read a lot of supernatural romance, romantasy, chick lit and historical romance with murder mystery plots. I just am a sucker for a good love story, I guess.
28. Favourite side character: Aside from Molly Hooper, who I will love to the end of the earth and back, probably Faith Lehane from the Buffyverse. She's absolutely fucking fascinating as a character to study and write. I also really love Kevin Ryan & Javier Esposito from Castle, though I'm not sure they're really side characters and are more main-adjacent? Whatever. I adore the two of them so fucking much.
29. Favourite villain: Oooooh. Um...Well, I do love both Sherlock's Jim Moriarty and Elementary's Jamie Moriarty a ton. They are both excellent villains, though Jamie is sorely underutilized. In books, Zakath from the Belgariad/Mallorean series is such a fascinating case, because he's a villain in the first series and an (unwilling at first) acquired hero in the second. But I love love love him.
30. Favourite idea you haven’t started on yet: Can I use one I started and have since abandoned until I can rewatch the source material? TMI, I was a victim of sexual assault when I was younger, and stuff with rape/sexual assault is a weird thing for me as a viewer. Sometimes it sets off flashbacks and crap, and other times I can view it in a critical manner and deal with it that way. S1 of Bridgerton rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't like that Daphne resorted to what she did. So I had the idea if, waaaaaaay back during the duel, Simon had been honest about not wanting to have children of his own with Daphne, therefore letting his bloodline die out, how could that have changed everything (but most of all prevented That Scene). I got one chapter done but lost Netflix access for a while so I have left it to rot, but I do eventually want to get back to that and rewrite S1 with a happier ending and less angst for Daphne and Simon.

New York Mayor On Smoky Haze: 'Climate Change Accelerated These Conditions'
With New York City being ranked briefly this morning as the city with the world’s worst air pollution, mayor Eric Adams warned that climate change has accelerated the conditions surrounding the smokey haze that has shrouded the city.
“While this may be the first time we’ve experienced something like this on this magnitude...it is not the last. Climate change accelerated these conditions.”
Adams went on to urge for more action towards addressing climate change issues, saying:

“New York City is clearly a national leader on public health and climate action and these dangerous air quality conditions are clearly an urgent reminder that we must act now to protect our city, our environment and the future of our children.”
Vermont senator Bernie Sanders and echoed similar sentiments towards climate change on Wednesday, tweeting:
“Right now, 98 MILLION people on the East Coast are under air quality alerts from Canadian fires and, last night, NYC had the worst air quality in the world. Climate change makes wildfires more frequent and widespread. If we do nothing, this is our new reality. It’s time to act.”

Meanwhile, during a press briefing this afternoon, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that “climate change [is] a top priority” as tens of millions of Americans remain under air quality alerts.

"We received a report on his diagnosis in a matter of weeks. It was not good. What alarmed me as the Normandy’s chief medical officer was the increase in Shepard’s brainwave patterns, the change in his behavior, eating patterns, and unexpected bouts of severe anxiety. The nightmares just kept getting worse with each passing day. And I’m sure Shepard already knew this. The next morning, he just couldn’t handle the pressure anymore. He walked away. From everything." ―Dr. Karin Chakwas' medical report on John Shepard
With the Reapers defeated, the war finally came to a pyrrhic end. Shepard was incapacitated by the explosion and, by means currently unknown, sent back to Earth’s surface where he was presumed missing in action and came close to being declared dead. To the surprise of many, it was revealed that Shepard managed to survive the Crucible's blast, taking a gasping breath in a pile of rubble.
Due to the Crucible’s detonation, Shepard suffered severe injuries throughout his body: the explosion blew off his left arm and rendered many of his cybernetic implants created from the Lazarus Project inert; as a result, he was in excruciating pain, along with other chronic effects before falling into a coma. C-Sec teams recovered the bodies of Admiral Anderson and Shepard. He remained unconscious before waking up to a galaxy without Reapers, where he would be interred in the hospital to receive intense medical and psychological treatment. When he was ready to walk again, his team was waiting right outside the door, eager to reunite with the man who not only saved the galaxy, but changed their lives. He was declared a hero to all races and showered with medals and honors, becoming a legend throughout the galaxy. Hackett had another announcement as well: in a surprise and unexpected move, for Shepard’s actions and leadership throughout the Reaper invasion, he decided to circumvent standard procedures and authorized Shepard’s immediate promotion to the rank of Admiral. After Shepard was released from the hospital, Ashley walked him out. A moment of embrace was captured and spread throughout Alliance space. The pair was lavishly celebrated by the Alliance as a symbol of purity and devotion emerging from dark times.
At some point within the next two months, Shepard received a prosthetic arm to replace the one he lost during the war. He was later present at Anderson’s funeral in London, where Kahlee Sanders was to eulogize to the Alliance's fallen war hero. The remaining members of the allied forces who attended the funeral assembled in an area near the London burial ground while a large number of notable figures and other dignitaries were in attendance and filled the remainder of the streets. His death caused Shepard to fall into a deep depression, especially seeing how Anderson resembled a father-figure, as well as learning that his actions destroyed EDI and the geth, and was unsure of what to do now that the war was finally over.
Due to his extensive injuries in addition to his doctors expressing worry of his mental state, Shepard was due to receive an honorable discharge but he chose not to wait and decided that he could not remain any longer. Just moments after seeing a psychotherapist, Shepard disappeared from the public eye without a trace. No one knew for sure where he went, but those closest to him believed he went off in search of a new path.

[Image descriptions in order: a tweet by@kylegriffin1 "Kyle Griffin" (verified) which says "Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirms President Biden will join the UAW picket line in Michigan — not just visit it.
"He is standing with the autoworkers.""
@OzKaterji "Oz Katerji" replies.in three tweets, which say: "By far the most progressive US President of my lifetime, and it's never not a source of frustration that so many Americans refuse to accept this reality because his name is not Bernard Sanders.
"Biden is a fascinating case of a politician becoming more progressive and less reactionary and conservative the later into his career he got. I fear his achievements will be overlooked in our lifetimes, but history will reflect kindly on him regardless.
"A US President standing on a union picket line. Seriously. That's happening now. But you're not going to hear that celebrated as a seminal moment in US politics because the American left is functionally brain dead."]
[Two screenshots of an article, which say: "This is a big deal, said Railroad Department Director Al Russo, because the paid-sick-days issue, which nearly caused a nationwide shutdown of freight rail just before Christmas, had consistently been rejected by the carriers. It was not part of last December's congressionally implemented update of the national collective bargaining agreement between the freight lines and the IBEW and 11 other railroad-related unions.
"We're thankful that the Biden administration played the long game on sick days and stuck with us for months after Congress imposed our updated national agreement," Russo said. "Without making a big show of it, Joe Biden and members of his administration in the Transportation and Labor departments have been working continuously to get guaranteed paid sick days for all railroad workers.
"We know that many of our members weren't happy with our original agreement," Russo said, "but through it all, we had faith that our friends in the White House and Congress would keep up the pressure on our railroad employers to get us the sick day benefits we deserve. Until we negotiated these new individual agreements with these carriers, an IBEW member who called out sick was not compensated."]
["...Biden, citing the potential economic impact of a national freight rail strike during the winter holidays, on Nov. 28 called on Congress to impose the emergency board's agreement.
Since then, several other railroad-related unions have also seen success in negotiating for similar sick-day benefits. These 12 unions represent more than 105,000 railroad workers.
"Biden deserves a lot of the credit for achieving this goal for us," Russo said. "He and his team continued to work behind the scenes to get all of rail labor a fair agreement for paid sick leave.""]

President-elect Donald Trump released a video compilation on his Truth Social platform on Dec. 31, featuring Democrats defending outgoing President Joe Biden's mental acuity.
The nearly three-minute video includes clips of prominent Democrats such as White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Sen. Bernie Sanders, asserting Biden's mental sharpness.
First Lady Jill Biden is also featured in the compilation, emphasizing Biden's intelligence, wisdom and experience.
The video highlights a stark contrast between public opinion, with 68 percent of Americans feeling Biden is "too old" to serve another term, and Democrats' defense of the president.
Veteran CBS News reporter Jan Crawford criticized the media for underreporting Biden's cognitive decline during a Dec. 29 appearance on CBS's "Face the Nation."

Inauguration Day Is Coming. What Will Become of Karine Jean-Pierre?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/578c39eb8914c013eb28651ac835479b/07911206e9ec8bb7-c5/s540x810/0a7a81abd332e242a0ee2f7ad67313da781252ba.jpg)
The position of White House Press Secretary can't be a heck of a lot of fun. You're dealing with uncomfortable questions from people who would love to see you stumble and fail - unless you're in a Democrat administration. But a good Press Secretary has to be bright, well-informed, and able to think on their feet. I've seen a few of these people in operation, beginning with Ron Ziegler. I've seen some good ones and some bad ones. Tony Snow was a good one. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was a good one. Jen Psaki was a bad one, even when you factor in that she was in the position of having to defend the indefensible.
Karine Jean-Pierre is worse. She's not suited for the job; she's dishonest, not particularly articulate, and is prone to fits of pique when she's expected to answer difficult questions, which is her job. But on January 20th, she'll be unemployed. What will she do then?
A piece in the Daily Caller presents some ideas.
The consensus seemed to be that KJP, despite being considered by many to have performed poorly at her White House gig, will likely find safe harbor as a contributor on a cable news program, just like her predecessor Jen Psaki. “She’ll go where all the other failed Hollywood actors go when they’re useless to the deep state: a cable chat show that exclusively exists to sell weird books and products to lonely women,” Daily Caller alum and media veteran Kay Hill said. NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck concurred, adding “I fully anticipate someone will hire her as a contributor, whether it be a return to MSNBC or even CNN.” Jean-Pierre’s predecessor, Jen Psaki, jumped ship in 2022, leaving the Biden White House to host her own show “Inside with Jen Psaki” on MSNBC.
MSNBC? That's an interesting notion. As I mentioned, she's not really qualified to be press secretary; she's dishonest, inarticulate, and thin-skinned. But MSNBC? Heck, she's overqualified, if their current talent pool is any indication.
A few media types of note bring up another interesting point:
Color me skeptical. The Biden brand stinks like a dead woodchuck under the porch, sure. But in the legacy media? It's hard to imagine a Democrat administration failing so utterly, so miserably, and so obviously that the legacy media won't run cover for it. And if that means finding a comfy sinecure for someone like Karine Jean-Pierre, that's likely what will happen. Someone will hire her and let her drop into a late-night or weekend show every now and then to blather out an uninformed opinion. That's how these things work.
Maybe Jen Psaki will let Karine Jean-Pierre (KJP) sit in for her next time she takes a vacation.

We all know why KJP is in the position she is. She checked off a couple of "diversity" checkboxes; there certainly aren't any positives that recommend her. But we all know how these things work, I doubt KJP is losing any sleep worrying about where her next paycheck is coming from. Someone, somewhere, will pick her up to do something. It may be make-work, it may be an invented position that is pure horse squeeze, but the Swamp takes care of its own.

Project Nightshade Update
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/da64cd4df48a50d3ec4ee32c6829f80a/e19badc0c637d0f5-d9/s540x810/522fde56b751268b9941acd7de8a792c9a343bc4.jpg)
Halfway through reworking the first draft of chapter 1 (after finally having the time to get around to editing) i realized some stuff i had written down didn't make sense in terms of certain characters and their connections especially since some important characters appear in "How the Rain met the Rose" and will be appearing in future fanfics for Project Nightshade.
And so i decided to make a separate fanfic that's a prequel to "How the Rain met the Rose" and explains some stuff not only that we'll see a different perspective to certain events from another person close to the story because of this it's most likely the first chapters to both of these fics will be uploaded at the same time and so i introduce to you
Karin Sanders vs Raccoon City
Summary:
Karin Sanders would like to think of herself as a Calm woman, One who doesn’t jump to conclusion’s or assumptions. All that goes out the window the moment the adopted daughter of her best friend shows up to her Apartment crying her eyes out about how he hasn’t contacted her since he left for raccoon city yesterday afternoon after a distressing phone call with his sister Lisa.
It was just supposed to be a check in to make sure Matt and his sister were alright she promised Carla that’s all it would be. How the hell was she supposed to know hours later she’d be trapped in a city filled with the undead and only having a small pistol to aid her. Besides who the hell is this woman Alice and why is the S.T.A.R.S Officer in her company so attractive?
Small Explanation:
Karin Rebecca Sanders is the British best friend of Matt Addison and the occasional babysitter to Carla who lives under the Alias Odette Addison, This Alias was able to be crafted due to the face Karin is an Ex-FBI agent who still has many connections to that world and while normally Matt and Lisa had kept her out of their Activist work due to her request for just a "peaceful" life so during the events of RE1 Matt had asked Karin to watch over Carla while he went to go check on his sister and well you know what happens in that movie.
Both chapters should be uploaded at some point in early January maybe it depends on how fast i finish
