The Bhathals were one of at least two groups trying to resurrect the bid. The other, the Southern California-based Monarch Collective operated by venture capitalist Kara Nortman, claimed to have unnamed billionaire backers and a local consortium of forward-facing investors — including Damian Lillard and former Thorns star Tobin Heath.
Oh? They didn't get it, but interesting.

Ohanian is part of it and so is Alex…but Kara Nortman was more of what actually led to ACFC, Ohanian is just a typical tech man who loves credit. Nortman credits the World Cup and Tobin specifically with drawing her interest
There’s a difference between inspiration and catalyst. Nortman saw Tobin play (specifically TinyTobin) and wanted to create the club, making Tobin the inspiration.
Alex was the catalyst. Without her, ACFC doesn’t get Alexis’ funding, and doesn’t come to fruition.

regarding ACFC what about Natalie Portman? she is listed only as a founder so how much does she have? in your opinion of course
personally, regarding the actual sport, I don’t think she has much say. or perhaps it’s better to say that she, probably by choice, doesn’t have a lot of input. I’m sure that as a founder she has more say than most, but I feel like that’s probably in almost every other aspect aside from the actual sport. aka club culture, community work, etc. but that’s also why when she and Kara Nortman first had the idea to put this team together, they got Julie to be the president who would call the shots. they knew she could learn the sport and would be dedicated enough to be able to put this club together.

Can you explain a little bit what's happening with the new LA team? Like who is in charge and that stuff. I'm a little bit lost to be honest
yeah sure I can try my best!
Basically the new LA team, currently nameless but under a group that’s called themselves Angel City, is a club that is vying to join the NWSL in 2022, so not next season like Louisville but the year after.
The people in charge are various celebrities, activists and entrepreneurs who have managed to secure the exclusive rights to establish an LA team that will participate in the NWSL fromn Spring 2022 onwards. The founders of this are Natalia Portman (yeah you read that right, an actor heading up the ownership of a women’s football team) Kara Nortman (described as a technology venture capitalist although I’m not quite sure what that means), Julie Uhrman (media and gaming entrepreneur) and Alexis Ohanin (tech entrepreneur and venture capitalist).
As for the investors that have already been named, well there are a load and they stretch all the way from ex-uswnt athletes, to other olympians, to authors, to actors etc etc. Basically LA incarnated lol. A non-exhaustive list includes Serena Williams and daughter (who is like 2 btw), Uzo Aduba, America Ferrera, Lilly Singh, Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm, Lauren Cheney Holiday, Abby Wambach, Glennon Doyle, Casey Neistat, Brian Weinstein...
Basically all the initial information, their reasoning behind taking on this endeavour, their initial plans etc can be read in this article
