So I saw somewhere a post that talked about how some fictional characters just have a divorce vibe going on, like, at no point in time were they ever married but they just give off that feeling that they got divorced
And now I can only think of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor having that vibe
And I spent close to an hour talking about this to my sibling and how it would be a good idea for a new DC show like, you can make so much money off of just the main Batfam alone and there are literally so many people in there that it’s just an amazing idea to have them all in a show together but kind of like a Good Luck Charlie kinda thing because there’s more than enough angst in the world
But in the case of not having enough of a budget for so many characters in one show I turned to the Superfam (Batfam is Huge like, I don’t even know half of the extended family version and that’s like at least ten characters so I could see why it wouldn’t be entirely feasible to have a show that included everyone while still being good with nice character development without having a billion dollars for the budget)
The Superfam, in my personal experience, is composed of Ma & Pa Kent (farm vibes plus I refuse to have either of them die in my AU), Clark Kent (main Superman), Lois Lane (Lana? was Smallville Lois i guess??? But idk enough about her so she’s not here), Jon Kent (Superboi II), Kara Danvers (Supergirl) & Conner Kent (Superboi I)
Now I’ve stopped watching CW shows like, forever ago??? But my brother kinda keeps up with them and basically the gist is that the ratings of every other show suck Except for the Superman & Lois show (because it’s 💫new💫) and I saw the cover of the poster like “Ah, the werewolf dude. . . mmmhhmmm that’s Lois yes, yes that’s Johnny boi, and um is that???? Nooooo, they wouldn’t do that to Conner right???? Please tell me they didn’t make Conner blonde” and I was informed that the blonde teen is Chris???? Like

I’m not even joking but the only way I even know of Chris is from a random fanfic I read where Dick Grayson gets his own super from an alternate reality named Chris, that’s my only point of reference for this character
But let’s talk about how Conner Kent (OG Superboi) was excluded
Now I haven’t seen any episodes of this and I probably never will (no hate I’m just really unmotivated to start new shows at all) so idk if they might mention Conner or even allude to him in one scene or something
But this was my main motivator as to my new Superfam TV Show Idea
Have Lex Luthor not be a Superman villain, he’s mainly a successful businessman, a little shady but who isn’t, and he doesn’t want to Kill Superman, he just wants to be able to have some sort of viable protection against a Kryptonian in case of an invasion (see Man of Steel + CW’s Supergirl) or suddenly having a mind controlled Superman on their hands (see Justice League series or just look up what Red Krytonite does) so he makes it like his side thing to figure out ways to neutralize or hold back a Kryptonian, Clark totally thinks that Lex is obsessed with finding a way to kill Superman because they had a bad end to their friendship in high school so he’s always suspicious of Lex, Lex hasn’t really ever tried to kill him though because 1. It’s not that deep Clark ok? And 2. He’s a busy busy man with a very important job position and a company to run so does he look like he has time to harbor an obsession over someone who rejected him back in high school??? You’re more of a constant side quest Clark, so stop trying to put him on the JL watchlist ( btw ik about Lena Luthor, haven’t forgotten her but she doesn’t really play a part in this AU so let’s just have her and Kara off to the side doing their own thing ok? Ok)
Lex, Bruce & Oliver all knew each other when they were kids and went to the same school, this is just an extra detail I wanted to happen because Lex and Ollie definitely know Bruce is Batman and absolutely HATE having to deal with Brucie Wayne because “I know you’re just doing this to irritate me Bruce, you just want to see if you can make a vein throb in my forehead but I will valiantly ignore your dumbassery because I know you hate being Brucie just as much as we hate having to put up with Brucie so suck on that you petty bitch” because they bonded in ye olden days, childhood friends so to speak
Anyway so Cadmus tries to get Lex to make an investment in their company, seeing as Cadmus is shadier than Gotham when it rains Lex is basically like ‘no ❤️’ and doesn’t make a deal with them, Cadmus gets mad at not having Lexcorp financially backing them so Lex has an ‘accident’ and they steal his DNA, then they steal Superman’s DNA somehow and *boom* a Superboi is formed
Because I don’t know much about how the Core Four became friends in the first place (Robin Tim Drake, Impulse Bart Allen, Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark & Superboy Conner Kent) I’m just gonna go with what happens in the show Young Justice except it’s the Core Four becoming the Core Four when they liberated Conner (who at this point believes himself to be a clone of Superman and has only been given Superboy as a name) from Cadmus, same shit goes down meaning that Clark is just straight up NOT vibing with Conner, Conner just wants a mentor please, and the Bats kinda give Clark a passive aggressive treatment for not taking Superboy under his wing or at least agreeing to teach him how to control his powers, especially Tim because that’s his Bestie so yes
Anyway, YJ saves ppl and is on the news or whatever and Lex finds out about Superboy’s existence that way, so he researches this new super on his free time, finds out that he came from Cadmus and claims to be a clone of Superman, yet doesn’t have the whole power set Superman has??? Wait, didn’t Lex reject Cadmus’ proposal and the got into a mysterious accident??? Long story short Lex goes connecting the dots, hacks into Cadmus’ files, finds out he technically has a son with Superman and decides to take Superboy under his wing (I’ll go more in depth as to why Lex would want to do this in this AU later but the abridged version would be that he wants a kid but doesn’t have the time nor interest in finding a wife??? Also the radiation that made him bald as a kid also affected his reproductive system so while it’s not impossible for him to conceive kids he would have a very hard time actually getting to father a kid)
Him and Conner, who still goes by Superboy at this point in time, meet up and Conner finds out that here is a parent figure that is both available and actively wants to be a part of his life, so he agrees to get to know Lex and the series would focus on them becoming a family, with a special episode when Conner asks Lex for help in choosing a name for himself and it ends up with him agreeing to become Conner Luthor, it would be heartwarming and Mercy would make sure it happens within a day (Mercy is Lex’s bodyguard/PA but they’re also besties and she becomes the Responsible yet Chaotic Aunt as Lex and Conner’s father-son relationship progresses)
Obviously Clark becomes super suspicious of Lex getting close to his ‘clone’ and when Conner decides to go public as Lex’s son he’s like *GASP* and calls up Bruce because we need to get on this Bruce, Lex is a villain and blah blah blah but Bruce would be over Clark’s shit and hit him with that “actually, Lex was also an unwilling genetic donor to Superboy, who actually is not your clone either, and has agreed to take him in, I’ve been on this shit since they first met and the kid is doing just fine so if you keep poking your nose in their business then that’s your problem but you better be ready to pay child support bitch . . . have a good day ❤️”
The series would just focus on Conner getting to have a good parent figure in Lex and go more into their civilian lives rather than focusing on the superhero thing, Conner, Bart, Tim & Cassie have a sleepover at Lex’s house at one point, Lex totally Knows what’s up but it’s all good because these are his baby’s friends and they’re good people who are more than willing to prank Superman for rejecting his kid and giving his baby self worth issues (Mercy supports them)
Anyway, that’s basically the idea for a new Superhero Show

Fair warning: it's a long post. Let's examine some of the reasons that Kara has cited why she didn't tell Lena the super secret:
1. She wanted to protect her
Now, this one has some legs on it as Kara specifically mentions it in S3 during a conversation with James and Mon-El. And there's definitely some truth to it. But it's also bullshit. Lena was in constant danger and put herself at risk to save/protect Kara who didn't actually need it. In fact, the first time Lena's mentioned (not shown just mentioned) it's in regards to the venture explosion - something that happened because Lex was trying to kill her. People have been trying to kill, kidnap, manipulate, threaten Lena since minute one. Knowing Kara = SG would not have severely worsened any of that. In fact, it might've helped ease Lena's anxieties and resulted in her taking less risks with her life. In fact, I'm surprised Lena didn't think that Kara's association with her was putting Kara at risk (a far more likely thing).
The 100th episode addresses this to some degree in one of the AUs. Lena tells Kara that she wouldn't have had to risk her life dealing with Sam/Reign alone if she'd known the truth and she's absolutely right. And sure, Lena could've told SG and the DEO when she pieced Reign = Sam together but ask yourself, why would she? What assurance did she have that the DEO would not have treated her BEST FRIEND like a hostile instead of someone in need of help? The DEO is guilty of this and they have a history of locking up aliens indefinitely and on occassion straight up murder. After Reign nearly killed their biggest asset (i.e. SG) why in the hell would Lena trust them with helping Sam? She wouldn't nor should she have. She didn't know that she could go to SG because remember, Lena doesn't think of her the same way she does of Kara. SG is not her best friend. She doesn't have a personal, humanized relationship with her (at least not that she knows of). And obviously she's not going to tell Kara the human reporter with the DEO agent sister about it either. And the kryptonite? SG lost her shit over it even though she's been working with the DEO who stockpiled the stuff until SM left with it (a dumbass move that would've bit them so hard in the ass with the WK situation if it weren't for Lena's kryptonite!). Plus, Kara didn't have an issue with Oliver having a kryptonite arrow, J'onn having a sword. But Lena? How dare she!
So yea no. I get that "I kept my secret to protect you" is a popular thing in the hero world but in the case of Kara and Lena, it doesn't make sense and it did make situations unnecessarily harder.
2. She didn't trust Lena
This is mentioned by Kara to William in a deleted scene from S5 but I think it's worth exploring. I'm not sure to what extent Kara means with this but it could be referring to the moments as SG where she did display a distrust of Lena's intentions and she used Lena's personal relationships against her (i.e. asking James to break into Lena's lab). I mentioned the S3 shitshow with the kryptonite which is where a lot of this started but there's also other scenes in that same season where SG pretty much calls into question the so-called trust she has in Lena despite claiming otherwise. The switch was so abrupt the minute she learned Lena not only had but knew how to make kryptonite. Did anyone ever consider why Lena would bother learning how to make kryptonite? I'd hazard a guess that it was something she was looking into even before Sam/Reign. I think she happened to find Lex's stock and she decided to learn how it works and why it affects the Supers like it does. That would explain how Lena seems to be the ONLY ONE able to make an anti-kryptonite suit and other viable forms of the rock (i.e. Harun el). But no, SG and others immediately jump to the worst conclusions and associate the endeavour with Lena's last name, something SG KNOWS Lena is sensitive about it. And then the harun el. SG was suddenly fine with Lena making it when it was to split Sam from Reign and save Argo from extinction. But when it was used for something else that Lena didn't clue her in on (and what do you know, Alex, Brainy and James didn't either and they KNEW what Lena was doing with it) she got back on her high horse and the distrust became front and centre. You can't trust Lena as Kara and then immediately distrust her as SG and expect her to be accepting of this dichotomy. I'm surprised the woman managed to retain her sanity.
And still, this reasoning doesn't quite hit the mark in comparison to every other insistence of Kara believing in Lena (from day one she even told Clark that she believed Lena after meeting her for the first time). But the contrasting opinions and actions must have given Lena pause. I don't blame her to call into question which version of the truth was real and choosing to believe the worst. It's what SG and the SFs have been doing to her.
3. She was wary of Lena
This isn't an explicitly given reason but I do think it's how the secret keeping started in S2. Frankly, I don't even blame Kara for not showing her full deck in the beginning because she (and even us as an audience) didn't know much about Lena beyond wanting to do good and not be like her family. So no, Kara not telling Lena in the beginning actually makes sense to me (though she told Nia in a split second but that's neither here nor there). For me, I started to seriously take Lena at her word after the Medusa episode. That would've been the perfect opportunity for her to show the true "xenophobic" colours some parts of the fandom accuse her of having and she didn't do it. I don't think she even got so much as a thank you for it. People praise SM for getting Lex arrested but ultimately it was Lena's testimony that got him thrown behind bars. Same thing with Lillian! And yes, the daxamite invasion was facilitated by Lena unwittingly working with Rhea but she fixed it with the lead dispersal bomb, a device she allowed SG the privilege of using or not. So Kara and the SFs being cautious about Lena really should've evaporated halfway through S2 (and it did for Kara at least). In fact, the daxamite invasion may not have happened if Lena knew exactly who Rhea was and her relation to Mon-El because they would've warned Lena about it. Lena did want Kara's advice on Rhea and she would've waited for it if she knew what was going on (i.e. Alex being held hostage) and hell, might've been able to fix it in typical Lena ex machina fashion.
4. She didn't want to lose her
This is probably as close to the truth as we've gotten and it's actually part of her confession in 5x01 (something her outburst in 5x19 tries to undo). But the thing is, Kara KNEW this was a possibility and yet, continued walking towards the deadly cliff with her eyes wide open. The probability of losing Lena got higher and higher as time went on and it was always inevitable. There was always this spotlight placed on Kara telling Lena or Lena finding out on her own but there was always a HUGE chance that Lillian would've told her. Or Lex, which is exactly what happened. And Kara knew that they knew and yet she did nothing about it. The minute kara found out Lillian knew she should've taken action, what guarantee did she have that Lillian wouldn't have gotten bored of waiting for Lena to piece it together? How can they just leave Lillian with dangerous knowledge like that is beyond me. When Alex in particular has made such a big deal about people knowing, didn't want Kara telling Lena, only allowed Kara to tell Lucy to save J'onn and yet, letting Lillian amble about with this info is okay??? Nothing was stopping her from telling Lena or it slipping during one their chess games and definitely nothing stopping Lex from dropping that bomb.
The 100th episode AUs showed us that each time it was Kara telling the truth, no matter how hurt and upset Lena rightfully was, she was ultimately fine with it. And Kara ends up losing her to death, not because Lena walked away. How this wasn't the takeaway message for Kara after that adventure, idk. It was Kara's hesitatancy in telling Lena that allowed Lex to weaponize this secret and twist it into something it never was. And yes, Kara doesn't owe a damn soul her secret and has rarely ever been given the chance to tell anyone on her own terms (James - told by SM, Alex, J'onn, Brainy, Mon-El, the Legion - always knew, Lex & Lillian, Lord & Cat - found out somehow). She only ever got to tell Winn, Lucy and Nia and I'm sorry but none of those people have ever proven themselves trustworthy at the time of the reveal the way Lena has.
So while Kara is every right to keep her secrets, she was wrong to insert herself in Lena's life if she never had any intention of telling her and let's be honest, it really didn't seem like Kara had any timeline on that front.
5. She was selfish
Similar to the above and also mentioned during the confession but this is even deeper. Lena was something of an outlet for Kara, a way to feel completely normal, something she hasn't been able to experience with anyone, even Mon-El. Can you imagine being a cub reporter who knows powerful CEO Lena Luthor and having said CEO choose to spend time with you? Choose to let you interview her when she's wary of the press (remember her interactions with Clark in 2x01 and her family history)? Choose to treat your problems as important and valid and human? I don't blame Kara at all for being selfish with Lena, for wanting to keep Lena all to herself like that. But to not share the other aspects of herself was seriously wrong too and resulted in this imbalance in their relationship. To Lena, it looks like she was giving all of herself when Kara was not. It looks like she put all her trust and vulnerabilities out there when Kara didn't. It looks like Kara was using her (which let's be real, she kinda did a few times in S2 with the fight club and bs article to get info on Lillian and then ofc the CatCo-Edge problem she visited Lena for after ignoring her and proceeding to continue the rejection after Lena said she'd look into it).
You think post-reveal Lena didn't think back to all those moments and have those kinda thoughts? Even called into question what might've been the real reason James dated her and Kara was so insistent on befriending her? Were there perhaps times were she figured it out and can't remember and what's why she chose not to see it? Why do we think she still showed up game night in 4x22 instead of confronting Kara? Because these thoughts amongst others must've been swarming her mind and the only way to keep the upper hand is to continue playing dumb. So yes, Kara made the conscious decision to be selfish with Lena because of the unexpected connection they forged and I get it totally. But Lena has never been selfish and she's always made hard efforts to be a damn good friend (and she was idc what others might think on that) and open herself up to Kara despite how difficult and frankly foreign that is for her.
So are Kara's reasons valid? To a point, I would say yes but their validity waned over the seasons to the point where the secret keeping didn't even make sense anymore.
So was Lena's anger valid? Yes! 100% it was and honestly, I'm surprised she managed to keep it together for so long. I couldn't. But her anger doesn't justify her actions (mind control, manipulating Kara, threatening Russell, holding J'onn's bro captive, putting Hope inside Eve) and how she went out of her way to hurt Kara back. However, I get why she did it though it's worth pointing out that this is the only instances of a betrayal in her life where Lena has gone this far. Bitch straight up spiralled where previously she would cut ties and move the fuck on with life. But with Kara, that doesn't even seem to manifest itself to Lena as an option. Will the show ever address the obvious WHY for this and for Kara being so so terrified of losing Lena (like honestly I have never seen Kara look more distressed).
Maybe, maybe not but regardless I'm not buying this platonic friends nonsense because no one is that devastated over a friendship. Many of us (myself included) have experienced falling outs with very close friends and breakups. Which one do you think the Kara/Lena rift in S5 felt like? It was full on heartbreak, loving someone in complete torment and not being able to stop despite wanting to because even though it's painful, the alternative is infinitely worse.
MB and KM's acting choices aside, these idiot showrunners have brought us to this point with their own narrative and the only logical next step is to make them canon.

Tolerate it - Part 1
Notes: This is my first reader x character fanfiction, I’m sorry if i have any mistakes. If you have any feedback, comments or requests I would gladly received it. Thank you for reading, I hope you like it, its going to be a multiple chapter series.
Lena Luthor x reader, Kara Danvers x reader, Alex Danvers x reader. Baby Danvers.
Some people dream of their lives as they are growing up and after a few years are able to conquer them. Others dream the same way but are chosen to follow a different path in which some things ended up way different than they expected.
Begin the younger member of the Danvers had put you always in tough shoes to fill since you were a kid. Kara was 3 years older than you and Alex was 4.
You were only 10 when Kara came into the family but the two of you found similar likings a difference from Alex, warming up easily. After a time the three of you fell like three peas in a pot in your worst and best times for each one of you.
And like all the people all of you had dreams Alex always wanted to be like your Mom and Dad, as she protected her younger siblings. Kara wanted to bring people joy and justice, she wanted to do the right thing.
And you, your dream were complicated, you wanted to stay behind a camera, a guitar, or behind a kitchen, You wanted to be able to bring entertainment and joy to people's faces. Sadly the other difference between your sisters and you were that they conquer their dream and you, on the other hand, didn't.
It’s not that you don't enjoy what you do, or are not happy. You are okay and satisfied with your life at the moment. That is why you are currently at work, making in Kara’s words ‘The best pastries in the world’.
The abundant smell of fresh coffee and sugary bakery, invaded the shop every day. The soft sunlight that came through the window illuminated the place, every morning and afternoon. The soft jazz music in the background creating a relaxing vibe that will go on all day.
You heard the jingle of the doorbell as you decorated with the pastry bag, quickly cleaning your hands. You spoke up as you looked up to see a beautiful green-eyed black-haired woman. “Hi”
The black-haired woman smiled and responded. You were going into a panic, accidentally clinging to the decorating pastry bag making some of it to your face. The texture of the cream begins soft, and unexpected making you gain your posture “Hello there”
“Sorry, good afternoon, Welcome to JJ’s. How can I help you?” You said while smiling as you cleaned your face, the black-haired woman softly smiled as you did so.
The green-eyed said as her eyes ranked over the menu and the refrigerator and back to you before responding.“I'm looking for some pastries for a girls night, what do you recommend?”
“Personally I recommend the tiramisu, the lemon pie, and if you are going all out then the Hershey chocolate cheesecake which is personally my favorite. One of my sisters has a really big appetite and the other is picky so this is my to-go order for sister night” You ramble out as you showed her the options.
The Luthor woman softly smiles as she spoke while walking back to the register. “Okay then please give me a complete unit of each one, darling”
You stood there, observing her facial features as she played. She was calm and relaxed; it was something you noticed right away. The only makeup she had was a soft lip gloss on her lips. Her eyebrows were relaxed. Her straight hair was in a ponytail. And her eyes were memorizing, her right eye began a soft green with a little of blue and her left eye began a greener brownish. You were sure she was the prettiest girl you have ever seen.
Her face felt familiar to someone who was familiar, there must be a few seconds before you came to reality to realize she caught your glance and returned you the beaming smile you had.
“Okay, okay over and out” You spoke as you walked to get her order ready.
In a moment you remember you never asked for her name, so you had to rush out from the other side of the place to where she was now seated. “I kinda need your name, sorry I forgot”
“Lena” She answered
“Then it's a pleasure Lena” You countered back before heading to the kitchen again to make her order.
Her name, her smile, her eyes were all of you could think so the whole day.
The encounter was simple, just her being a client in the bakery, not anything else. That’s the way you need to treat it because you knew after a few love encounters you weren’t made for love.
It was Friday and you were knocking on your sister’s apartment. It was rare for you to have free time, with two jobs one being a music teacher and the other being a pastry chef.
A difference from your sisters, you didn’t have a boss that would pay you more than the low income, and well to survive in National City you need it to have them both.
“Hey sis, is the invitation still open?” You spoke up when you saw Kara’s face with a beaming smile opening the door. The smell of pizza and beer invaded the apartment.
“Of course, it is buttercup,” Alex said as she beat Kara while grabbing the beer and the cupcakes.
The blonde just hugged you and spun you around, Alex protested. Even though she did the same.
“You are not going to believe what happens, I was working which thankfully I got out earlier than I thought and I met the prettiest girl I've ever seen in my life, Rao her eyes were green, not a sad green, no, no, a green of nature and trees, yes trees, like kryptonite and her smile, Rao her smile was enough to light up the whole room” You ramble as you grabbed Alex beer walking backward finding your way to the couch without looking at your surroundings.
“Let me guess you chicken out and didn't ask her out?” Alex scoffed, as she rolled her eyes. Making Kara laugh and you to pout.
“Yeah-” Before jumping in your back to the couch you said stopping when you felt your head hitting someone’s lap as Kara and Alex spoke up at the same time getting interrupted by your head hitting the person.
“Butter-“
“Y/N-“
When you looked up to see the memorizing eyes and soft smile you were talking about, you immediately felt to your side, groaning in pain when your head hits the floor.
“Hi” Lena immediately reached out to you, giving you her hand. You looked up to the woman and whispered when both of your glances connected.
“Hello, I didn't catch your name” The Luthor woman smiled teasingly before speaking as she helped get up.
While Kara was stuffing herself with your cupcakes, the older Danvers gasped as she connected the dots. “Holy shit”
After a small scold from Alex, Kara went by your side to check on you. The glance between you and Lena stayed, making Kara smile widely as she took another cupcake.“Oh, you two know each other?”
“You could say so” Lena responded calmly, as she winked and smiled at you before walking to the kitchen to grab more wine, leaving you speechless and completely embarrassed at the couch and Kara with a small frown.

You would love it if things had suddenly gone back to normal again. If you could just forget what happened, and go on with your life. You are not angry, really. It’s just this feeling of sadness you can’t ignore. Every time you look at Kara you remember everything she said. So, you’ve been keeping your distance these past few days. You’re not being mean, or impolite. You’re just not soft and sweet like your usual self.
It’s Monday, and Kara flies in through the window in her Supergirl’ suit and sees you sitting there on the couch, working on your new invention.
“Hey, you didn’t show up at training today, I got a little worried.” She says and you move on the couch uncomfortably.
“Oh! Ah, yeah. Did I- did I forget to mention that I’m not doing that anymore?” You don’t look at her while speaking. You just keep working.
“Doing what? Training?” She asks and you nod. “Kid, you need to practice.”
“Oh no, I know. I mean, I will. Just some other time, and with…” You mumble. “Someone else.”
You don’t have the courage to look at her. You know she’s hurt, and you don’t want to see it written in her face. Kara sits down on the couch in front of you. She is still in her super suit, which is weird because usually the first thing she does when she walks home is change. She doesn’t say anything for a while.
“I thought it would be good to learn different fighting styles and all.” You try to explain, but you both know that’s not the real reason.
“Okay.” She finally says. “Sure. That makes sense. So, who are you training with from now on?”
“Aunt Alex.”
“Oh yeah, great! Alex, yeah, she has a great fighting technique.” She stands up fast. “Ok, yeah. Cool.”
“I hope it’s ok.” You say even though she just said it was. You know it’s not really ok.
“No, yeah. It’s fine. It’s, um, cool.” She paces around a little, you can see from the corner of your eyes. She looks like she still wants to say something, but doesn’t have the courage. She keeps opening her mouth. “And the powers?”
“Sorry?” You ask, finally looking at her.
“Who are you going to train your powers with? I mean, Alex doesn’t have them.”
“Oh. I actually talked to Nia about it, she said she would love to help.” You try to smile, but it doesn’t seem right. You don’t know what to do with your face. Or with your hands. And you can’t hold her gaze any longer.
“Nia!” She screams. “Wow, that’s wow.” She keeps pacing nervously.
“I thought it would be good since it took her awhile to have control over her powers too.”
“Yeah. Mhm. Great idea. You’re so full of great ideas…” Kara stumbles on a chair behind her. “Well, you’re working on something so, I’m going to-to leave you to it.”
Your heart shrinks a little, but you know it is the right call. Training with your momma is what got you in the red kryptonite mess in the first place.
Next day you get to work with aunt Alex and things go great. You’re practicing on a dummy at first, and she just shows you a few moves. It’s easier with her, you don’t know why, but it is. Even Jamie joins, because Alex wants her to learn some self-defense moves.
“Hey kid.” Kara says when she sees you walking home after the training session, she puts the TV on mute and looks at you. “It’s a little late, where were you?”
“I had a training session.” You say making your way to your bedroom.
“Oh. How-how was it?” She asks, adjusting the frame of her glasses and you stop walking.
“It was fine.” You don’t know what to say, you don’t know how hurt she would be if you told her the truth. “Aunt Alex just showed me a few different moves that are easier for me to do.”
“That’s great!” Her voice comes out loud and squeaky. “Do you want to order pizza?”
“Um, not really I... already ate.” You point to the hallway and give a little smile. “Gonna go work on my project.”
“Sure. Ok!” She gives you a flat smile and a thumbs up and you disappear inside your room.
You’ve been in your bedroom for an hour when you hear a knock on the door. You lower your glasses and look through the door.
“Come in, mom.”
“Hey babygirl, what are you working on?” Lena asks, putting her face inside your bedroom and you look up from your prototype.
“Anti-kryptonite force field.”
“Oh, that’s cool.” She walks in and sits in your bed in front of you. “How does it work?”
“It doesn’t, yet.” You give her the prototype. “But when it does, this bracelet will automatically generate a force field around you as soon as you enter a space with kryptonite. No matter which one.”
“That’s bold. So why is it not working?” Lena looks at the calculations on your notebook.
“Well, it might be, but I can’t test it without being exposed to kryptonite, so...” You shrug.
“Do you want me to test it for you?” She seems excited to work on it and you agree with your head. “Really? That’s great! I’ll take it to the lab tomorrow! Can I have the notes too?”
“Sure.” You point at the notebook and she picks it up again.
“You can come by after school tomorrow and we can work on it together.” She says while flipping through the pages.
“I can’t, I have training.”
“You do? I thought training was on Mondays.” She is still looking at your notes.
“Oh, it’s, um, with Nia. She’s helping me with the powers and Aunt Alex with combat.” She looks up to you right away.
“And your momma?”
“I thought maybe she could be just my momma from now on.”
“Oh.” It’s her only reaction.
“Do you think she’ll hate me for it?” You ask looking down. Lena puts all the things she is holding aside and hugs you tenderly.
“She could never hate you.” Lena kisses your forehead and you smile lightly. “It will take her a while to get used to that, you know how much she likes being around you all the time, but things will fall into place.”
“Yeah, I can’t wait for things to fall into place.”
“Have you spent any time with her lately?” Lena asks and you shake your head disagreeing. “I thought she was your best friend.”
“Jamie’s my best friend.”
“Right. But she was close second?” She’s not exactly asking, and you know. You shrug. “I know you are hers.”
“I thought you were.”
“Oh, I was. And then you were born and I happily gave up that title so you could hold it.”
“Mom, I…” You breathe heavily. “I can’t.”
“No pressure, baby. You have to respect your time, but just think about it, ok?” She stands up grabbing your prototype and your notes. “I’ll test it tomorrow, and I’ll let you know.”
“Thanks mom.”
Lena closes the door and you lay on your bed thinking about what she said. You don’t want to use your super hearing, but sometimes your powers have a mind of their own, and you can’t really control them. That used to upset you, but now you just embrace it.
“Hey, is that her project?” You hear Kara’s voice.
“Yeah. Automatic anti-kryptonite force field generator.” Lena’s voice comes and you can hear she’s very proud of you. “It’s amazing, and I never thought of this.”
“Wow. That’s incredible! Does it work?” Kara also sounds impressed.
“I’ll test it tomorrow. But the math looks right.” You can hear Lena’ smile through her voice.
“She’s so clever, I can’t believe she’s my daughter sometimes.” Kara says and you hear a deep breath, but you don’t know from who.
“Are you ok? With the whole training with Nia and Alex thing?” Your heart skips a beat and you even hold your breath to hear better.
“I’m, yeah, it’s fine.”
“Kara.” Lena calls her on her bullshit. She doesn’t answer for a while. You think this is the time for you to stop listening. You should put your headphones or something like that, but then you hear:
“I’m so sad, Lena.” Her voice comes out small, and you know she’s crying. “She didn’t, she didn’t call me when she got shot. And now she is going to train with other people. She doesn’t need me anymore.”
“That’s not true, honey. She needs you.”
“She doesn’t though. She has you to help her with science. She has Jamie to talk to, Nia to help her with her powers, Alex to call for help.” She’s crying so much it’s hard for you to listen. “Lena, I have superpowers and she called Alex to help her!”
“I’m sorry, honey.”
“We used to be so close, and then I ruined it. She used to tell me everything, and now she won’t even talk to me. And it’s all my fault.”
“Just give her time. She’ll come around. She always does.” You can hear the pain in Lena’s voice too. It’s so hard to keep listening.
“I think this time is different. I told her to use the watch only for emergencies and she got shot, but thought she was not emergency worthy. Then, Lena, I beat my own daughter. I told her horrible things and I left her all alone. I don't think she'll come around.”
“Kara, hey hey. That wasn’t you.” Now you and Lena are both crying too.
“I know! Of course it wasn’t me. But-but it was my face she saw flying away while she was suffocating and begging for help. It was my voice she heard yelling for her to get up over and over again, even when she couldn’t.” There’s a long pause when you can only hear crying and desperate noises leaving her mouth. “Lena, when she was born, I promised I would always keep her safe, now it’s my name she associates with pain.”
You are also crying hard now. What are you doing? What were you thinking? What Kara did was bad. But what you are doing now is just as bad, if not worse. You know how much pain she is in. She’ll never forgive herself for any of that, and you’re not forgiving her either.
It’s red kryptonite. It’s not like you are immune to it. What if you get exposed and you physically hurt the people that you love the most, and they can’t forgive you for that? What if you say every single unfiltered dumb thought you’ve ever had in your life and they hold you accountable for it?
And it’s Kara of all people. She is the person you want to see whenever you feel sad. She is the arms you want around you every time you cry. She is the one you want to calm you after a panic attack, or a nightmare. She is also the person you want to go on waterslides with, and laugh with, and sing with. So, what the hell are you doing?
You use your super speed and run to their bedroom, quickly opening the door. Kara’s holding her pillow with so much strength it looks like it’s about to explode. Lena is kissing her shoulders and hugging her sideways.
“Momma.” They both raise their heads to look at you crying on their doorstep. You run to Kara’s lap before they can say anything, and she drops the pillow to hold you instead. “I’m sorry.”
“Little one, what happened?” She asks wiping your tears, even though her face is wet from her own tears. She immediately stops looking sad and starts looking worried.
“I’m-I’m horrible. It wasn’t you, I’m so sorry.” You hold her as tight as you can. “I know you would never hurt me. I know.”
“Hey, you’re not horrible! You’re perfect.” Kara says kissing your head. “You’re my baby. I love you so much, kid. I’m sorry you had to go through all of this. I wish you never got hurt like this.”
“But you didn’t mean to hurt me. It was the red kryptonite. I don’t have that excuse for hurting you like I’ve been doing.” You’re still clinging to her so hard you didn’t even notice Lena has left to give you two some privacy.
“Baby, I’m ok. We’re ok.” But you can’t stop crying and you can feel Kara’s tears falling on you. “We’re going to be just fine, kid. I promise.”
“I’m really sorry.”
“Hey. You don’t have to apologize.” She hugs you tight and breathes in relief. “You didn’t do anything bad, my love. I did. I hurt you and I said horrible things and I’m sorry for all of them.”
“You were right though. I’m crying to my mommy like a little baby.” Kara wipes your tears, and then hers, and she smiles at you.
“You have no idea how happy I am for this.” She kisses your forehead. “Little one, I love you more than anything and anyone in the universe.”
“I heard that.” Lena says putting her head in the door frame. Ok so, apparently, she wasn’t exactly giving you guys privacy.
Kara calls her with her hand and Lena comes to the bed and holds you too. You’re squeezed between you moms, and your heart calms down a little. You’re home.
“I love you both so much.” Lena kisses your forehead, and Kara’s lips. “I’m so glad you two are fine.”
“Yeah.” You smile. “We’re fine.”
And it’s true. Things finally fall into place, and you and Kara are perfectly fine again. You’re still training combat with aunt Alex, because it got way more fun now that Jamie joined too, and Kara noticed it. But she always joins your training sessions with Nia, which is great and really fun. You’re happy in your new found confidence and when you look at Kara, you see the real one, and not the freakish version anymore.
So, for the first time in a while, you are actually fine.

So there's a blanddcheadcanons post that says that "Kara is the mortal avatar of Rao" and I really don't like it, especially in the context of SG 3x04 (The Faithful). At best, as was pointed out to me by a friend with whom I discussed this post, the House of El is likely blessed and somewhat sponsored by Rao, which probably doesn't do much but produce Krypton's greatest heroes, given what the word "El" **means** in Kryptonian. I'm interested in your thoughts on this (pls post your answer).
I reject the headcannon solely because if it were true it would mean Coville was right and I fucking hate that bitch.
In all seriousness, though, this is an idea I've seen a lot and I'm not a huge fan of. I don't know much about Raoism beyond what appears in the show and that which can be inferred off of the show. One thing I would point out though is that El in Kryptonian (while obviously being intended to mean God by the original comic writers) can mean Sun or Stars, and since the Kryptonians in the show are, as far as I can tell, monotheistic, and worshipped only one particular star, the El family is not necessarily named God. It would, however, signify their enormous prestige on Krypton and contribute to the famous El pride (or rather, arrogance). I’m not sure it would necessarily have to mean anything more than that-- that the Els are a respected house who have produced a variety of successful politicians, civil servants, and scientists. And (this time reaching a little bit) that they are perhaps so old and respected that their house name was once a title.
There is a certain allure to the theory, for sure. Kara is a paragon character. She always, always does what she thinks is right, regardless of the cost, personal or global, and regardless of what other people might think of it. She has a very direct moral compass, and there are only a handful of times when she doesn’t follow it, all of which involve saving Lena. Ship who you want, but it is notable that Kara routinely prioritzes Lena’s life over that of others given the rarity of that happening otherwise. She never even considered breaking Rick Thompson’s father out of prison when he kidnapped Alex, and all he’d committed was bank robbery. Kara has lines she does not cross (though murder is clearly not one of them). She is a character that has seen some of the worst that sentient life is capable of, has seen more death and suffering than most people could imagine, and she came out of it with an all-encompassing desire to protect others. She lives to give people hope. Plus, the humor of having Kara-- the one person most offended by the idea of being an Avatar of Rao-- turn out to be an Avatar of Rao is great.
But, I would also say that having Kara want to do good because she is the avatar of a benevolent god is reductive and not particularly true to her character. It is true that helping and protecting people is a large part of the core of who Kara is. But there is a difference between altruism and the self-destructive, bordering of suicidal desperation to save absolutely everyone that Kara practices. And to anyone who doubts the suicidal bit, I direct you to the season 1 finale where Kara literally goes on a goodbye tour because she thinks if she goes out to fight Non she’ll die. She still goes because she has hope, but that hope is that she can at least save Earth with her life. She doesn’t fight because she is certain in the ultimate victory of good and justice. She does it because she more afraid to lose another family than she is to die. Kara doesn’t become Supergirl and risk her own life because she believes in good, she does it because she can’t stand to listen to people suffer-- because she has suffered. To use Alex’s words in 1x13 “You fight everyday to keep people from struggling like you have.” Notably also in 1x13, Kara wakes up from the Black Mercy and her first words are “Who did this to me?” and then she goes after Non in what could arguably be described as a homicidal rage-- a rage that is fueled entirely for personal reasons, not the greater good of Earth (though that comes as an added benefit), which is.... not very befitting the avatar of a benevolent god.
A major part of season 1 is Kara dealing with grief and rage. She nearly breaks a guy's arm in episode 6 because he screamed at her for damaging his car, to hell with the children he'd almost hit with it. In season 3's Midvale flashbacks we see her first put both hands through a lunch table, then attack Jake when she suspects him for Kenny's death. She gets better at controlling it as the seasons progress, but during Crisis she very nearly melts Lex. Also not particularly godly of her.
Then there is the fact that so much of who Kara is is shaped by fear: fear of the government, fear of humanity, fear of abandonment, and fear of herself. In her civilian life, Kara is, for the most part, unnoticeable. She's polite, soft-spoken, doesn't wear a lot of bold colors or styles, and is often a pushover. As shown by her encounter with Red Kryptonite, Kara would not dress or speak the same way to people without the pressure of hiding her identity (though much of her dialogue is purely the loss of her "don't be an asshole" filter, some of it is stuff she had every right to say before and just didn't). I have always found that episode to be very interesting purely for the fact that Kara doesn't actually seem to be seeking harm on others so much as seeking their attention. Her argument with Alex is almost entirely about how much she hates having to hide and pretend to be less than she is. Kara drops Cat off the balcony and then catches her. She attacks the police when they point weapons at her but doesn't kill or even hurt them that badly, instead of destroying the car they're using as shelter. Red-K removed her inhibitions, made her angrier, yes, but if her goal was to actually hurt people, she could have done so-- would have done so, and with great ease. She goes to a public bar and uses super strength to smash bottles by flicking peanuts. Why do that at a crowded bar? Why not just flick potato chips at the windows in her own apartment?
This is Kara at her absolute worst-- but does she seek out the DEO agents who shot her out of the sky? Does she go after Maxwell Lord or Non? No. She tries to make people pay attention to her. Her most shameful and hideous desire is for people to give her respect. (Admittedly, respect gained through fear, but still.). Kara's a nice person-- much, much nicer than average-- but a lot of that "nice" is just her avoiding conflict to avoid attention.
Kara is a good person. Kara inspires people. But that is because Kara gets up every day and chooses to be good and to inspire. It's one of the reasons I enjoy Non as a villain so much-- he and Astra are Kara's narrative foils. They also remember Krypton and grieve its loss. They also were trapped in the Phantom Zone. But where Kara had the Danvers to convince her that some good people existed and would risk themselves just to help others, Non and Astra had Alura sentencing them to eternal suffering rather than helping them save their planet (through the means they thought necessary) and then landed on Earth and found it headed on the same path as the planet they'd just lost. Kara had people to help her grieve. Non and Astra were surrounded by misery. They lost hope. Kara discovered it.
Kara is the Paragon of Hope because she has been hopeless. Because she has suffered so much, seen so much, and because she chooses to believe in a better future. She didn't have hope her first time in the Phantom Zone. She didn't even have hope for a while on earth. From what we can gather, Kara's choice to start actually believing in the future was a gradual shift that occurred sometime after Kenny's death and has lasted her ever since. For Kara, hope is learned. She chose to hope and she won't let it go, and to assign that incredible victory off to her being a God is an insult to her growth and to her character.
Now I personally thought “The Faithful” handled this concept very well. 3x04 is one of my favorite episodes of television in general, let alone in Supergirl. Season 3 is my second favorite season, and that says a lot for its good episodes when the bad of season 3 is so, so very bad (To say nothing of the episode to episode production value, we have the waste of Argo, Mon El’s return as obviously he’s grown he has a beard Mon El, and whatever the hell was going on with Kryptonian genetic engineering eclipse causing witches). To this day I don’t know why Kara had magic dreams. The show did nothing to explain it and I can’t imagine up a reason.
But “The Faithful” works because it highlights the whole paragon part of who Kara is. When you realize that every person in the room of Coville’s cult is a person she has personally saved-- that hits hard. Especially since only a fraction of the people she’s saved would ever set foot inside that building with the totally not-creepy, entirely wholesome way they deliver the invitations. (“Your daughter is special. She has been chosen. As have you.”) It works because it focuses on how the average human must view Kara, the ones who don’t see her argue with her sister over potstickers and crush her phone when she gets mad. It works because of how desperately hard Kara tries to be a human. It works because the writers know that we, the audience, do not see Kara as anything but a regular person with irregular abilities: a kind and remarkably devoted person, but not a god.

Today I will be addressing SuperCorp and some of the issues that have been floating around about fandom. And I will be saying some stuff that both is for it and could be used against it even though I am ultimately a super big supercorp fan. Like it says in the tags you're free to express your opinion but they will not be changing mine but I am always open-minded to opinions that can actually be explained and eloquently expressed (receipt's needed) and aren't just basic. Also just so what is noted I have been a part of this fandom since the first episode I have literally shipped Kara with everyone from Lucy to Cat even James.But Lena has just stuck out the most for me but I'm Equal opportunity.
Number #1, Lena's character in no way shape or form has ever been xenophobic she has never once shown any hate towards aliens her problem with Kara in season 5 Wasn't because she was an alien it was because she was a "Super" like Kara could have been a flying purple fucking octopus from the planet of shzjxfdf and Lena wouldn't have gave two fucks but no she was a "Super"but let's dig deeper on that point if we really look at why she was mad it wasn't even the whole alien aspect it was because she wasn't told and no I don't think she's entitled to it but I do think it played into the fact of a trust issue she has with the fact that people would think she would be just like Lex if she had been told Sooner. Which is disproved in 5x13 (also personal note: I also think she wouldn't have reacted half as bad if Kara had just told her that night at game night or the next day when she wanted to probably still would have been pissed but not to the same extent). But okay with that being said I do disagree with the kryptonite entrapment torture scene and basically half the s*** she did in season 5 it was shown that she truly can tap into her Luthor side and be dark when wanted but fortunately she does always return to the light and in all fairness it has been shown several times that Kara has a dark side of her own that could rival the luthors.
Number #2, I do disagree with the abuse of actresses and actors just because of a ship and or character they play don't blame them it's just a job they have I think Melissa and Katie do a beautiful job of bringing Kara and Lena's characters to life couldn't imagine anybody else playing them.
Number #3, I also will say about the reason bombarding of comments on Nicole's social media at least I saw the video via tiktok in that video was fucking hilarious I love Nia, Dreamer,and Nicole in general she's funny and beautiful and is an advocate for everything good in life and well it is normal to even ask other actors if they have the scoop on anything it does not mean we need to be bombarding them in videos on something relating to their character or their love of something a simple comment or so maybe but what I saw NO.
Number #4, The William of it all well I think though his character seems like a nice gentleman he also seems to be bland as hell also I did not know he was a POC to be honest I thought he was a tan white man and we'll be doing further research on people in the future as I can learn from my ignorance also but unrelated I did not know that the woman who played Maggie was apparently just a tan white woman I thought she was of some sort of Hispanic descent but apparently not according to various things I've read on here tonight... But anyways back to William I feel like a lot of people might have perceived him as a white man therefore that might play into the whole scenario of people hate that they just want two white woman together when it proves if she was a man they wouldn't give two f**** about it whether that's true or not I don't know but mine two cents.
Number #5, I will never bash someone for being for or against a certain ship and or character and well I am allowed to certainly disagree with their opinion all opinions are valid because we all see the world a different way some see it bright and shiny and others like I'll admit myself see it through the glasses of trauma. And I think that's why we all have the opinions we do most of the time when you like a shipper character it's because you relate to them somehow even if it's the most minor thing to someone else it might be huge for you. You never know what the person on the other side of the screen is going through in those characters or ship or fanfiction might have literally saved their lives.
Sidenote: Like okay personal story I was been both mentally and sexually abused as a child so I relate to both Kara and Lena respective childhood trauma so that draws me to them. And I kind of see them both as the opposite attract trope (two side of the same coin) because well we never fully get over trauma Kara had a great support system with the Danvers whereas Lena didn't get that with the luthors I mean sure she had Lex at first but even that was only to a certain extent because of his psychopathy that was starting to manifest he couldn't perceive human emotions the same as Lena who in my opinion is just a big mushy nerd who can be a badass when needed as evident by the season 6 episodes after she's quit L-Corp she's constantly trying to help out inventing new stuff and she's wondering how Nia's suit works and it just shows that she just has a curious mind and also she looks happier even with the guilt she feels over Kara's phantom zone incident when Nia called her a part of the family that smile could lit up a city all she's ever wanted is to belong and I can relate to that therefore to her.
Number #6, I feel like this should have been addressed in earlier number but as far as sexuality goes I would want to believe Kara is pansexual because of everything I've ever read and saw I don't believe she perceived sexuality like humans do because of her Kryptonian upbringing for the first good chunk of the life. Like even though she says she's not gay in the first episode, A. It was the first episode so they didn't even know where the story was going in future seasons if they got them also that means maybe she just didn't perceive herself as the Earth's definition of gay. B. Even in the first season she made a comment about how she bought Lucy was gorgeous and hell she would date her. C. She made some comments about Irma and other woman that don't sound totally heterosexual and don't get me wrong women can admire the beauty and intelligence of other women without it being sexual but as a bisexual woman it just struck a cord in me you can tell the difference when it's coming from a straight woman mouth. Now on the subject of her and Lena strictly I do think there are instances of "queerbaiting"because just because you perceive they haven't been promised to us doesn't mean that some of us haven't picked up on things or the fact that they're simply queerbating because somehow they do hype up Kara and Lena to keep a nice chunk of the audience who ships them mainly those of the gay variety interested in the show which is also considered queerbaiting. Also the fact that they've been called sisters or family or my personal favorite "that's what friends are for"doesn't mean crap because honestly at this point the overuse of friends just sounds more like they're trying to convince themselves than us.*** Also I don't know about you but even on the basic level of things they've done I've never shown half those feelings towards my friends and the ones I have it's because I started to think of them as more than friends.
Now with Lena's sexuality no they have never shown her as anything besides straight canonically but don't get me wrong she totally sends off that college experimentation vibe especially with Andrea for some reason but that may just be me.
Number #7, my main point is let's just be kind to one another because guess what there is toxicity from every ship in a fandom there will always be shitty people on both sides and then there will be those of us who just want to see the characters together for one reason or another and yes I'm not afraid to admit that part of my reasons I want to see two gorgeous woman kiss sue me LOL.
Number #8, the conclusion of my rant is that how about we leave the hating to the ones who want to do that and the rest of us like adults or whatever your age is in the fandom that has any type of maturity behave because I truly do wish the best and in the end well I hope they end up together I'm realistic that they probably won't especially due to the CW Network motto of "homophobia and racism"because they've already broken up several good gay and interracial couples on that show. But at the end of the day my true wish is just that all of the characters end up happy and healthy.

Hitch Me To The One I Love (Supercorp Hitch AU), part 1
Supercorp Hitch AU where Kara is a dating "consultant" who helps her clients, mostly useless gays, get the girl. She's got a little bit of a chip on her shoulder, because her ex-girlfriend, Siobhan cheated on her when she was still a gullible and vulnerable kid in college (I'm imagining a scene where Siobhan derides her by saying that she's "out of Kara's league").
Since then, Kara's kind of made it her mission to help her fellow gays avoid the same heartbreak she experienced. She's a hopeless romantic, who believes that everyone should have a chance to get the person of their dreams, even if they're "out of their league". She's clever about it so no one ever traces anything back to her, and her dorky charm and sunny demeanor keeps people from connecting her with this "Supergirl" matchmaker that everyone keeps talking about. She's made a lot of successful matches, and all her clients are grateful to her, and they pass her business along by word of mouth.
Enter Veronica Sinclair.
Kara goes to meet her, thinking she's another ordinary client, but when Kara sees her, she immediately knows something's off, because Veronica is stunning, sultry and confident in an eat-you-alive kind of way. There's no way she needs help getting a girl - any girl, or anyone for that matter. Then Veronica starts telling her about this woman she wants to pursue.
"She's.... something else. There's always been something elusive about her. We were at boarding school together, briefly. We never got along then. But now.... Now, things are different. The stakes are higher. She never returns my calls, won't even look my way. It's infuriating! I've been trying to fuck her for years--"
Kara chokes. "Excuse me??"
"Fuck her," Veronica says with a catty smile at Kara's spluttering. "Rail her until she can't walk the next day. Bend her over her desk and break her in half. Have her on her knees with my fingers in her mouth. I really don't know why I need to explain this to you. You're supposed to be the professional."
"I think you may have misunderstood what I do." Kara tries to storm off, but Veronica catches her by the arm.
"I think you may have misunderstood who you're talking to." Veronica murmurs, low and dangerous. "I'm not the sort of person people say no to. People can wince, cry or beg, but eventually, they do what I want. "
Before she can finish her threat, Kara has her in an armlock, and Veronica's face is pushed up against a wall. "And I'm not really the sort of person who likes to touch or be touched without permission. I'm all about consent, y'know."
Kara lets her go with a forced cheery smile before storming out.

Lena, on the other hand, is the reclusive CEO of L-Corp. Her dating life is nonexistent, because she's married to her work, and trying to repair the shambles of the company her brother almost bankrupted with his schemes.
She had her gay awakening in boarding school, secretly staring at Veronica Sinclair's profile in biology class, and watching her smoke under the bleachers from afar. Lena as a schoolgirl was much too focused on escaping everyone else's radar that she and Veronica didn't interact much, but when they did, they didn't get along. Veronica was too much like a snake for Lena's liking - beautiful to look at, but venomous and deadly.
So when Veronica begins displaying an interest in her, Lena avoids her as much as she can. It's not that difficult, she's the CEO of a multinational conglomerate after all.
Things change when Veronica begins to.... court her. Or whatever version of it Veronica is capable of - which, coming from Veronica, feels more like coercion than courtship.
Veronica keeps sending gifts to L-Corp, and when Lena ignores or returns them, she begins making donations to Lena's various charities and sends her extensive (and admittedly sometimes dubious) contacts Lena's way whenever she gets wind that Lena has need of them for whatever innovation she plans to develop next.
She conveniently runs into Lena, at galas and fundraisers, and other various events that Lena mostly goes to just to keep up appearances. Every time, Veronica is there, scorching Lena with dark, heavy-lidded eyes.
And Lena is only human.
It's nice to have all this positive attention when all her life she's lived under the shadow of her family's infamy, especially when she's been dragged by everyone recently after what Lex did.
And she will admit, it.... it feels nice to be desired after being scorned for years, especially by someone she had stared at and wanted for years as a girl.
She gives in and agrees to a drink. One drink. That ends up with her bent over her kitchen counter, panting against the marble while Veronica fucks her from behind.
Veronica doesn't stay the night. Nor does she answer any phone calls the next day. When Lena finds out that one of the contacts Veronica had sent her way backed out from an important project at Veronica's insistence, she deletes Veronica's number from her phone.
When scandalous pictures of Lena and Veronica in a very clearly compromised position are released by the tabloids, she grits her teeth and takes the hit from the board of investors. Then she downs two glasses of her heaviest scotch in quick succession before drinking it straight from the bottle.
Jess, ever the efficient assistant, gathers as much information as she can on Veronica for retaliation. That’s when she first hears about “Supergirl”, this elusive dating consultant who, from what Jess gleaned from Veronica’s circles, supposedly connects people with women they want to sleep with.
She almost doesn’t tell Lena. But Jess knows her well, and she knows Lena would rather know the truth. So Jess tells her, and hands her the nondescript little blue and red business card with an anonymous phone number on it.
Lena looks down at it, the muscles of her jaw twitching even if the rest of her face is still. When Jess leaves, she throws it in the trash, and throws herself back into work.

Fast forward a year later, Kara meets Lena when she acquires tickets to an L-Corp event for one of her clients. She’s there mostly for surveillance and as back-up for her client, in case she’s needed, but she spots Lena drinking alone at the bar.
Kara sits down next to her with a smile. Lena politely nods back before she goes back to nursing her own drink.
Kara keeps studying her, even though Lena pointedly ignores her, and out of the blue, Kara tips her glass at her and grins. “I bet you a date I can make you laugh.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“You look like you could use a laugh right now. I bet you one date that I can make you laugh.”
“Excuse me--”
“Hear me out. My terms are simple. If I can make you laugh, I get to take you out on a date. Preferably somewhere as far away as we can get from this stuffy shindig. It’s a win-win for you. Your mood gets better, and you get to see me out of my suit.” Kara leans in with a conspiratorial grin. “‘Cause if you think I look good in a suit and tie, trust me, I look much better in jeans and a t-shirt. ”
“Oh, really?” Lena’s expression morphs from one of surprise to amusement. “And what do I get if I win?”
“Well...” Kara’s grin goes wider, and she intentionally drops her eyes to Lena’s lips. Lena’s mouth parts a little, but instead of moving forward, Kara plops the small tub of maraschino cherries from the bar in front of her. “I’ll share these with you. And if you knew me, you would know what a big deal it is that I’m even offering to share food with you.”
The corner of Lena’s lips lifts into a small smile. “Deal.”
She offers a hand out for Kara’s to shake, and Kara takes it in hers. Kara’s hand is warm, calloused and long-fingered. Lena quite likes the feel of it, but she’d rather die than admit it. Just like she’d rather die than give Kara a laugh.
The next half-hour is spent with Kara using the worst pick-up lines on her, each progressively worse than the next, in an effort to make Lena laugh.
“Do you believe in love at first sight—or should I walk by again?”
“I'm no photographer, but I can picture us together.“
Lena shakes her head. “God, you are bad at this.”
“Well, can you blame me? You’re so beautiful you made me forget my pickup line." Kara winks, and Lena bites her lip to keep from smiling too much.
“Here’s another one -- Is this the Hogwarts Express? Because it feels like you and I are headed somewhere magical.”
Lena rolls her eyes. “Oh God, and you’re a nerd.” She neglects to mention that she’s probably a bigger nerd than this girl.
“Do you like Star Wars? Because Yoda only one for me!” Lena almost grins too widely at that one, but she schools her expression.
“Are you the SAT? Because I’d do you for 3 hours and 45 minutes with a ten minute break in the middle for snacks.”
Lena takes a sip of her whiskey to hide her smile. “I finished mine in under two hours, so...”
“Well, I’m no mathematician, but I’m pretty good with numbers. Tell you what, give me yours and watch what I can do with it.”
“Can I follow you where you’re going right now? Because I was always told to follow my dreams.”
By now, Lena’s struggling not to smile too much. Her mood has definitely improved, thanks to this nosy yet attractive blonde with the sparkling blue eyes and the irrepressible grin.
When Kara tries her next pick-up line “Didn’t I see you on the cover of CatCo magazine?” Lena finally laughs. Kara’s face lights up and she does a fist-pump.
“You probably did, I was on the cover last January.” Lena holds out her hand again. “Lena Luthor.”
The other woman grins widely, irresistibly. “Kara Danvers.”
“I guess I owe you a date, Kara Danvers.” Lena smiles as she rises from her seat. Just before she leaves, she slides the tub of cherries back toward Kara.
“Just so you know, I’m allergic to cherries.”

Their first date is a disaster.
Hordes of paparazzi attempt to follow them, all eager for the scoop on “Lena Luthor’s new lady love”, and Lena’s security team deems it unsafe for them to go to the gallery Kara knows Lena would have loved.
Instead, they stay holed up in Lena’s office, and Kara orders in Big Belly Burger while she pulls up pictures of the art made by the trans street artist that the gallery was featuring. One of her old clients, though she doesn’t mention it to Lena.
But Lena sits beside her on the white couch, heels off, feet tucked under her, humming in appreciation as the two of them pore over the young artist’s work. They spend hours on the couch, talking and laughing, shoulders barely touching. The date ends with Lena enthusiastically purchasing many of the artist’s pieces, while Kara studies her with a small smile on her face.
The next date is no better.
To avoid the paparazzi, Kara decides that they should stay in again. She painstakingly sets up a private dinner at the rooftop of L-Corp -- with the help of Jess, who has now been recruited into her operations -- complete with Lena’s favorite food, a trail of candles, and Lena’s favorite flowers.
Unfortunately, the weather report that morning betrays Kara, and the skies suddenly open up in a heavy downpour, leaving her drenched like a drowned rat with nothing but doused candles and a water-logged meal.
Kara sulks, frustrated and disappointed, looking at the mess that was half a day’s efforts. The small bouquet of plumerias she had been planning to give Lena wilts, sodden in her hand. She’s a little startled when an umbrella suddenly appears over her head, and she turns to see Lena surveying the mess on her rooftop.
Instead of being annoyed, Lena smiles at the whole soaked wreckage, then at Kara, who sheepishly holds up the sodden white flowers and offers it to her with a defeated shrug. Lena takes it with a small laugh.
“Thank you.” Lena takes the flowers with one hand, the one holding the umbrella, and slips the other into Kara’s slippery hand. It makes Kara smile, and she lets Lena pull her back into the building.
In her office, Jess -- bless her, she would do wonders for Kara’s business if Kara could ever steal her away from Lena -- has laid out fluffy white towels and a blanket. Lena takes a towel and drapes it over Kara’s shoulders, rubbing lightly to dry her as much as she can.
Kara stays very still. She could insist that she can do it herself, but there’s something almost... entrancing about the way Lena bites her lip as she rubs Kara’s back and shoulders in wide, gentle circles.
When she reaches up to dry off Kara’s hair, Kara finds herself leaning forward. Lena studiously avoids her gaze for a moment, toweling off the ends of Kara’s hair. Kara’s hand gently encloses her wrist in a loose grip, giving Lena enough time to pull away if she wants to. Lena looks up, fragile, glass-green eyes finally meeting Kara’s mesmerized stare.
Lena’s hand stops moving, and Kara slips her hand from Lena’s wrist to her chin, fingers slowly tracing from her jaw to her neck until she can slip her fingers right under her head. Lena’s eyelashes flutter, and her pulse beats rapidly under Kara’s palm. She pulls Lena just a little bit closer, and she feels Lena’s breath stutter.
“Kara, I...” Lena’s lips part to form words, and Kara’s gaze is immediately drawn to her mouth, full and red and tempting.
Before Kara can lean forward, Lena is pulling away. Kara feels disappointment crash over her like the downpour of rain on the rooftop, but she lets Lena go, lets her clear her throat and straighten herself. “I-I asked Jess to get you some dry clothes. You can change in the bathroom.”
Kara dutifully accepts the clothes, taking one last moment to study Lena, before closing the door behind her. When she’s done changing, she returns to find Lena on their couch, surrounded by food from Kara’s favorite Chinese restaurant.
Lena looks up at her with wide eyes and an appreciative smile. “Well, you were right. You do look good in jeans and a t-shirt.”
Kara grins. Despite the earlier awkward moment, she thinks they’re okay. “You should see me in flannel.”
Their third date is at a dive bar.
Not exactly common date fare for a multi-billionaire, but Kara thinks Lena will like the change. They’re soon joined by Kara’s friends, and Kara chuckles a little at Lena’s deer-in-the-headlights expression. She runs her hands up and down Lena’s arms to reassure her.
“Don’t worry, they’ll love you.”
She’s already drilled into her friends to be on their best behavior around Lena, but of course, her sister is the first to break that rule.
Alex smirks as she shakes Lena’s hand. “So... you’re the Lena I’ve been hearing so much about. Kara hasn’t shut up about you for weeks. Every sister night, it’s ‘Lena this’, ‘Lena that’, ‘Alex she’s just so pretty’, ‘Alex, she’s so smart, like you would not believe’, ‘God, Alex, I just wanna--- mmphff!”
Alex’s voice is muffled by Kara’s hand slapping over her mouth. “Sorry! This is my sister Alex, and she is going to be silent for the rest of the night, and -- Ew! Did you just lick my hand?? Gross!”
The rest of the night progresses smoothly. Lena manages to beat Kara soundly at pool (”It’s basic geometry”) -- and Kara’s definitely not gonna complain, because holy crap, the view she gets whenever Lena bends over to take a shot almost makes her pass out several times. Lena, however, loses spectacularly to Alex at darts (”Excuse you, I have great aim. I’ve just never played darts before.” ”Yeah, yeah, sure. Pay up, Miss CEO”). At one point, Kara hears her offering Kelly a position in her VR department, so it’s safe for Kara to assume that Lena’s having a good time.
The only tiny baby hiccup of the night is when Kara offers to get her another drink from the bar, and Lena’s eyes tighten a little before she refuses with a polite smile. Throughout the night, Lena carefully sticks to one glass of wine and no more.
When the group disperses for the night, Lena offers Kara a ride home. A few blocks in, Kara asks her the question niggling at the back of her mind.
“Why didn’t you drink anything tonight? I mean -- you don’t have to answer that, I-I was just curious. I know you have a bar in your office, and I’ve seen your collection of scotches that probably cost more than my yearly rent. But you barely touched your wine tonight.”
Lena is quiet at first, fiddling with her purse. Kara lays a soft, gentle hand on top of hers to still her nervous fingers. “It’s okay, you don’t have to tell me anything--”
“The last time I got drunk at a bar with a beautiful woman, it almost ended up ruining my life.”
The story slowly unfolds, and Lena shows Kara the tabloid pictures of her and Veronica. Kara merely sits and listens, even after Lena’s driver has parked the car in front of her apartment.
She’d known Veronica was bad news from their first and only meeting, but she hadn’t known how truly atrocious she was. Kara is acutely aware that there’s a high probability Lena was the woman Veronica had been talking about when they met. She finds herself vacillating between the need to tell Lena the truth, and the need to keep her own anonymity.
No one outside of her friends and clients knows what she does. And she had refused Veronica outright as a client. Exposing Kara’s part in this, however small and non-existential it was, would mean exposing herself as “Supergirl” to someone who’s not a client.
Besides, telling Lena would only add another complication to an already complicated mess. Lena has moved on, she’s recovering from the fallout Veronica left on her life, and telling her this will only set her back, open wounds that are probably better off left alone to heal.
Kara takes Lena’s fluttering hands in a gentle grip. She meets Lena’s eyes with a warm, steadfast gaze. “ I’m so sorry. You didn’t deserve any of this, Lena. That woman, she doesn’t deserve someone as amazing as you.”
Lena doesn’t speak, just looks at her with soft, heart-hurt eyes. Kara feels her chest constrict, robbing her of breath, and she knows that she would do anything to make sure this woman is never hurt again.
She doesn’t realize she’s spoken it out loud, breathed it into the space between them, until Lena drifts forward and presses their lips together.
Kara’s mouth is still half-parted, and she tastes the wine from Lena’s mouth. She feels a tingling that starts from where their mouths are pressed together, soft lips meeting soft lips, spreading through the rest of her body.
It’s like being wired alive, and Kara’s hands move of their own accord, settling firm and greedy on Lena’s hips, urging her closer. Her fingers slide under Lena’s expensive top, finding warm skin there and making Lena gasp into her mouth. Kara shifts, and Lena shifts with her, hauling herself onto Kara’s lap. Her tongue sweeps over Kara’s lower lip, filling her mouth with the taste of wine and Lena, and Kara moans into the kiss.
Eventually, Kara knows they have to stop. They’ve been parked in front of her apartment for more than half an hour with the engine running. She won’t be able to look Lena’s driver in the eye for a few weeks. Her nosy old neighbor is likely peering at them through the curtains, and who knows if there are any reporters following Lena. Despite every cell in her body protesting, she pulls away from Lena slowly, trying to catch her breath.
Lena doesn’t look like she’s faring much better. She rests her forehead against Kara’s and her possessive grip on the collar of Kara’s button-down pulls her forward. Her eyes are closed, her breathing heavy, and her lipstick is smeared in the most delicious way that almost makes Kara kiss her again.
When Lena’s eyes open, Kara can see the crystal green of them. Her heart squeezes at the brilliance and tenderness of Lena’s eyes and oh, Kara’s in trouble. Lena’s fingertips gently stroke Kara’s cheek. “You’re amazing, Kara Danvers.”
Lena lets her go, and Kara somehow manages to stumble out of the car. She stands on the sidewalk in front of her apartment building, waves like an idiot with a silly grin on her face, as Lena’s smiling face disappears from her view.
Well, shit. She’s fucked.

Do you ever 100% have those days when you believe supercorp is in fact canon in all the ways compared to the het tropes? But there’s the thorn on your side that’s “waiting” on everybody behind the show to “confirm” what we’ve been saying and preaching for years now? And if it highkey comes down to the show pulling a catradora on us with supercorp I’ll be totally fine with it because I’ll just take that as a big fat “I told you so” to the haters. Analysis GO OFF 😚
Dude, you have no idea how many little break downs I have every once in a while because I just feel so confident that Supercorp will happen! Everything in the Supercorp-specific writing, music, cinematic tropes, actress choices, etc. has shown that Kara and Lena will and should be canon. Look, I’m in graduate school for psychology and I haven’t taken a film class in my life. I’ve never even been a big “shipping” person. But I watched Supergirl live all throughout undergrad, often with my straight friends (who were less into the show) and even they noticed all the things that we "delusional" fans discuss.
Iconic Superhero/Love interest tropes
The Hero having to choose between saving their LI or kids/city/world, but miraculously save both. May I present Exhibit A:
The LI standing between the Hero and their one weakness: literally every time Lena has built anti-kryptonite suits, protected Kara before she knew her identity, and specifically Exhibit B:
Dramatic saves of the LI: I present the longing looks mid-rescue for Exhibit C:
The Hero running flying toward certain death to save their LI: Kara disregards a kryptonite bomb in Exhibit D:
The LI being the last to know the hero's identity, but Hero will still risk their identity to save the LI: Everyone say hello to Exhibit E:
The Hero finding strength from their LI: the CW sure loves using El Mayarah in Supercorp posts! And social media aside, we've seen how confident and strong Lena makes Kara, both in dialogue and visually. (And it's a bonus that Kara makes Lena stronger too!)
Everything with food
Kara literally referred to food as a love language when talking to Nia. Only an episode or so away from bringing Lena food from 3 different countries. And let’s remember how Kara offered to fly to Italy for her first date with James...
Kara also always brought Lena food, even before season 5. That was their Thing.
We also have to talk about the absences of food: Kara dropping potstickers at Pulitzer ceremony when she sees Lena and not accepting Dansen’s invitation to get food after her falling out with Lena.
It was established all the way back in Season 1 (very much so in the fun Flash crossover) that Kara thinks food is more important than everything and will often use it as a coping mechanism when she’s sad (like in Season 2/3 about Mon). Yet, she’s so devastated over Lena that she can’t even eat her favorite foods? Interesting.
Color schemes and certain shots
The red/blue color scheme consistently used with Supercorp, with exception to the purple tones used in Season 5 to represent their conflict.
No other love interest for Kara has consistently used that iconic Super/LL color palet. Not James, Mon, William, or the two episodes with Adam.
I'd like to specifically remind everyone how Kara chose to wear purple with William, against Alex's explicit advice.
There are always lighting choices made with Supercorp shots. No other duo (besides dramatic Danvers sisters shots) seem to have such artistic care.
Do I even need to mention the balcony scenes? Both at the Pulitzer Ceremony and in scenes from multiple seasons where Kara has hovered over Lena's balcony-- most notably in 5x03.
Like seriously, do I need to mention the scene from 5x08 where Kara and Lena are looking longingly at the same picture of the two of them?
Music
If I know anything as a musician, I know scores. And Blake Neely has created certain melodies just for Supercorp saves. There’s the typical “Supergirl hero” melody, but it’s rarely used for scenes with Lena (besides the one instance in 5x07 cliff scene, when Neely combines the Leviathan theme with the Supergirl theme).
If you want to listen to examples: the brief save in 2x15 and the plane save in 3x05. Both melodies are unique, unreleased scores that (to my musical knowledge) have not been repeated with other Kara rescues.
Also, can we talk about how Supercorp has their own heroic theme, composed specifically for the 100th episode? Played by a live orchestra? For the one AU where Kara and Lena were partners from the start?
Decisions made by Melissa and Katie
We know they've known about Supercorp since at least the end of Season 2. Melissa showed Katie and they've been aware for years.
Yet, they play into the Supercorp dynamic. Longing stares, giggly dialogue, tear filled eyes, etc.
Regarding Melissa specifically: for her directorial debut she made two significant decisions. 1. She chose to have a camera pan over the room during Lex's speech, showing only Lena noticing Kara leaving and upset. 2. She dressed Lena in two comics Lois Lane outfits, one of which in red to parallel Kara's blue.
Melissa also has played Kara's interractions with Lena very similarly to how she played the Kara/James dynamic in Season 1. Something she chose not to do with Mon or William. But let's get into my next point...

Despite the mistreatment of Supercorp fans, and LGBT fans in general, by some actors and crew, and despite the tone deaf plot lines and usage of characters, Supercorp has consistently held up with all of my points stated above. That's why I still have days where I can just feel it in my bones that Supergirl is playing the slow burn game with Supercorp. It clearly won't be as well-done as Catradora, because of how much sh*t they've pulled over the seasons. But just like you, I have days where I get strong feelings that maybe it’s all part of their poorly thought out plan and we’ll get that validation and happiness.

Summary:
When she arrived, she was the only person who was currently there, or so she thinks. She was walking towards her cubicle when she saw a piece of paper that was neatly folded. Kara felt that it was important so she picked it up and caught a glimpse of her name inside the paper. Much to her curiosity and reporter instincts kicking in, she opened the letter and that's when where she read and re-read the letter, feeling her heart beating fast and warmth was spreading to her chest.

Chapter 1: The Letter
To my dearest Kara,
I have so much to say actually, but I guess I'll just keep this short and go straight to the point. I just want to say thank you for being such a good friend and for everything you've done for me. You are the most extraordinary person that I've ever met and meeting you is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. And I just want to let you know that I'm hopelessly in love with you. I don't expect my feelings to be reciprocated so don't pressure yourself. I just merely want to get this out of my chest before it overwhelms me. You're the only one wh
Kara flipped the letter to the front and back. "Wha- This... This isn't finished!" She continued flipping it in every angle, hoping that there's a continuation somewhere only to find nothing of the sort. "Oh, come on. Really?"
That morning, Kara decided to be early at CatCo. "Wouldn't hurt to be an early bird once in a while." She muttered to herself. As soon as she was done fixing herself, she headed straight to the company.

Much to her curiosity and reporter instincts kicking in, she opened the letter and that's when where she read and re-read the letter, feeling her heart beating fast and warmth was spreading to her chest.
Fishing her phone out of her pocket, she speed dialed the first person in her mind and was answered after a couple of rings.
"This better be good, Kara. I'm in the middle of something here." The person on the other line grumbled.
"Hey, Alex... You don't happen to have a forensic team, right?" Kara asked.
There was a moment of silence before Alex spoke. "Why? Did something happen? Are you hurt?"
"What? No! No, I'm perfectly fine." Kara reassured her sister.
"You're aware what the forensic team is for... right?" Alex doesn't sound convinced at Kara's reassurance.
"Maybe?" Kara slowly said.
Alex sighed. "Really, Kara? Anyway, what is it? Why did you call?"
"I got a letter." Kara answered.
"Huh... Good for you."
"A love letter, actually."
"O...kay?"
"The problem is, it isn't finished... yet. I just sort of found it on the floor just this morning here at CatCo."
"You're at work early?" Disbelief was evident in Alex's voice. "Who are you and what have you done to my sister?"
Kara frowned. "Ha ha. Very funny, Alex."
"So, let me get this straight." Kara heard Alex snort and muttered 'straight'. "You got an unfinished love letter..." She trailed off.
Kara nodded and kicked herself internally as she realized that her sister can't see her. "Yeah."
"And you want me to help you find out who wrote that?" Alex continued.
"Pretty much, yeah."
"Can't you just ask your colleagues?" Alex asked. "Especially the ones whom you're close to, like Winn or James or Snapper-"
Kara grimaced. "Alex!"
"... or Lena."
"Wait- what? Lena?" Kara was laughing nervously and she could feel the heat rising up her face. "Pfftt. Noooo. No way."
"I believe I mentioned four names."
"I mean, James and Winn could be possible. Snapper? Oh, hell to the no, that's for sure. But, Lena? Isn't that quite impossible?"
Don't ask me." Alex said, clearly amused. "You're the one who's spending time with her and you're the closest to her."
"Oh, no- Uhm... She... she doesn't see me like that, Alex." Kara tried to hide her disappointment. "Not that I see her like that, as well. I mean, I do like her but not like like her. We're just-"
"Friends. Sure." Alex interjected, cutting her sister's rambling. "Anyway, just ask them. Asking won't hurt, you know."
Kara rolled her eyes and huffed in exasperation. "Yeah, right. You think they'll admit it just like that? Like, hey Kara. Yes, I wrote taht letter. I'm in love with you."
"Fair point." Alex uttered. "Did you just roll your eyes at me?"
"Umm... No?" Kara lied, silently chastising herself for being so bad at it. She is such a bad liar.
"Are you telling me or asking me?" Alex asked. "'Cause I swear, I felt you rolling your eyes at me."
"You- What- You're creepy."
"I try."
Groaning, Kara leaned her head on her desk. "Alex, what am I gonna do?"
"How important is that letter?" Alex asked again.
"Very important." Kara answered without hesitation. "I don't know. It just made me feel... special? Not to mention loved... in a romantic way, I mean."
"I see." Alex was silent for a moment again that Kara had to look at her phone just to be sure that she's still on the line. "One more question.
"Fire away."
"Is the letter handwritten?"
This made Kara look at the letter again. "Uhh... Yes?"
"Then you probably know what to do." Alex said with a hint of satisfaction in her voice.

After a week long of hunting for the letter's author, Kara still found nothing. She's been checking everywhere and everyone. Even Winn. Well, everyone except James... and Lena.
Speaking of, she grabbed her phone and texted Lena.
Kara: Hey, Lee? Wanna grab lunch?
Drumming her fingers on her desk, she waited patiently for Lena's reply even though she wasn't sure if Lena was going to reply or not. It was already a week since she started hunting and it has also been a week that she hasn't seen Lena.
Kara was staring at her phone and after a few more minutes without any reply from Lena, she fired another quick text.
Kara: I miss you already, Lee. Call me or text me or anything when you're free. x
A few more agonizing minutes, her phone pinged and saw the name that she has been pining for from the past half an hour.
Lena: Sorry, love. Can't do lunch. I'm quite busy at the moment. Rain check?
Kara couldn't help the disappointment that she was feeling but she also can't help feeling giddy from Lena's endearment. It's normal to feel like this towards her best friend... right?
'Right. Who am I kidding?' She thought to herself.
Her phone pinged again and Kara swore her heart jumped as she read the message just like how her heart jumped when she was reading the letter.
Lena: I miss you, too. x
"Call me crazy, but I'm really starting to wish that Lena was the one that wrote this goddamn letter." She uttered to nobody and sighed. 'I'm falling for her, aren't I?'

A couple more days of snooping around (and having Snapper yap at her regarding to an article about God knows what), Kara found herself standing outside James' office.
“It's now or never." She murmured as she closed her eyes and raised her hand to knock on the door only to find her knuckle in contact with a forehead... Lena's forehead.
Kara's eyes widened in horror. "Oh, shoot! Lena, I'm so, so, sorry!"
"It's fine, Kara." Lena said while rubbing her forehead, thinking that apparently, opening the door abruptly isn't a good idea.
As much as Kara wanted to think about how much she missed her best friend's voice and presence, there is still something that currently matters the most. "Did it hurt? Of course, it hurt. Stupid me. I'm really sorry." Kara started rambling. "Oh my goodness. I should've been more careful."
Lena shook her head. "Kara."
"Should I grab some ice? We have ice here. Or maybe give you a massage? At the forehead, of course. Is there a forehead massage?"
"Kara."
"Maybe there's a forehead massage. Yeah. That's right. There has to be. There are lots of massages! Should I kiss it? Kisses makes anything feel better, right? Maybe I-" She stopped in the middle of her rambling as soon as she realized what she had just said.
Lena was almost as shocked as her. "What?"
"W-wha- what?"
Both women stood still, staring at each other, both shocked to even formulate words and not noticing James leaning on his desk, watching them both with amusement.
"Kara, I-"
"Lena, I-"
They both said at the same time and was followed by an awkward silence. Not wanting for the awkwardness to linger, Lena cleared her throat. "You can go first."
Shaking her head, Kara protested. "No, you can go first."
"Kara, please."
"But, Lena..." Kara whined.
James cleared his throat, causing both women to look at him. It was obvious that they had forgotten that he was still in the room. It was his office, after all, but he paid no mind to it. "As entertaining as this is, I believe you wanted something from me, Kara?"
Much to her disdain, not that she doesn't like James, Kara nodded. "Right... I did."
"I should go. I still have a lot to do at L-Corp. James. Kara." Lena uttered and was about to leave when Kara held her wrist. Kara made sure that it wasn't tight, but made sure that it was firm.
"Dinner. Tonight."
"Kara, you know I can't."
"You're always turning me down lately." Kara looked like a kicked puppy, looking at Lena with her big blue eyes and with a pout that no one can resist. Not even Alex. "I really do miss you, Lee..."
Lena's brows furrowed and Kara saw that she was contemplating whether to decline or upset. Hopefully, the latter.
"Look, it's not that I turn you down on purpose. I'm sorry for that." Lena started. "Its just that I really can't go out as of now."
Kara sensed that there was a but so she waited for Lena to continue and she did. "But, it would be nice if you bring Chinese later in my office, if that's okay with you. Maybe I could use a quick break."
Kara slowly grinned. "More than okay and totally fine with me. See you at 7?"
"7 it is, then." Lena kissed Kara's cheek. "See you later." With that said, Lena left her and James and went on her way.
Kara nodded even after Lena left and was absentmindedly stroking her cheek where Lena's lips landed just a few seconds, or maybe it was already minutes, ago.
"Hey. Earth to Kara."
Like snapping out of trance, Kara's attention was focused on James. "Sorry, what were you saying?"
James chuckled. "I asked if you were okay. You seem to be okay, apart from you looking like a tomato."
She was about to deny it, but she knew better not to. "That obvious?"
James smiled and nodded. "And as clear as a crystal. By the way, you came here. Why?"
"Right. Umm... You're the one who's writing on your planner, right?" Kara asked right away.
Yeah, I do." He answered.
"Can I-" Kara hesitated for awhile before steeling her resolve. "Can I see it?"
"Sure." James grabbed something just like a book, which Kara presumed that it was his planner, and offered it to Kara.
Mumbling a small thanks, she turned her attention on the planner and opened it. She froze as she looked- no, stared- at the neat penmanship that was scribbled on the planner which was identical to the penmanship of the letter's author. "Th-this..." Kara gulped.
"That's what?" James asked. concern lacing on his voice.
There has to be a mistake. "No..." She whispered under her breath. "This can't be."
James placed a hand on her shoulder. "Are you really okay, Kara?"
Her eyes shifted its focus, from the planner to James. "You wrote the letter?"
"You mean the unfinished letter."
"So, you did..." Kara was trying really hard to show a cheerful persona. "You did write the letter."
"That, I did." James confirmed.
"Oh... That's..." Kara swallowed the lump on her throat. "That's great!"
"You don't sound like you're genuinely happy."
"No! I am. I really am."
"Were you expecting someone else?"
"Well... I really don't know who or what to expect." Kara admitted. "It's not like I knew or had any idea who wrote it."
"But there is someone on your mind, isn't there?" James pried. "Or you're secretly hoping for a certain someone, aren't you?"
"What? Nooo..." Kara lied- denied, waving her hand dismissively. "Pshh. Who would that someone be anyway?"
"You're a bad liar, Kara." James called her out.
Kara knew that. She's not really the type of person who can lie to others face to face especially in front of her friends. "Okay, fine. I was hoping someone else. No offense."
"None taken. Mind if I ask who?"
Sighing, Kara looked down and played with the hem of her sweatshirt. "You might probably have an idea who."
James nodded. "I do, but I just want to be sure."
"It's..." Kara gulped. "I was hoping that it was Lena."
James was silent for a moment before he sighed. Kara took it as a disappointment from him. He wrote the letter and poured out his emotions for her but here she is. Sort of complaining that she was hoping for someone else and not him. She felt so ungrateful. "Look, James. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. I am touched, really. It's just that I-"
"You know what... Let's just cut the shit here, Kara." James cut her off.
Kara was now staring at James with wide eyes, unable to formulate words. She was shocked at hearing James cuss.
"Don't get me wrong. I'm not mad at you or anything." James reassured her. "Let me just say to hell with Lena killing me for this, but I don't want the two of you pining for each other with neither of you two making the first step."
Now, Kara was really confused. "What are you trying to say?"
"That planner..." James pointed at the planner that Kara was currently holding. "... isn't really mine."
"What do you mean not yours?"
"Kara, would you actually believe that that's my penmanship?" James asked incredulously.
"Yes?"
James shook his head. "It's too feminine to be mine."
"Feminine?" She tilted her head making James think of her like she was a golden retriever puppy. "I think it's just neat."
"Yes, it is neat but it also has a feminine touch." He pointed out.
"But, there are lots of guys who have these kind of penmanship. Some guys even have nicer penmanship than women." Kara justified. "That's why I'm calling it neat and not feminine."
James somewhat groaned in frustration towards the blonde. "My point is, that planner isn't mine and I didn't write the letter."
Kara realized what James is trying to tell her. "So, what you're saying is, a woman wrote the letter?"
"Been trying to tell you that for a few minutes now."
"Why?" Kara asked.
"Why what?" James asked back.
"Why lie in the first place?" Kara asked again. This time, she was frowning.
"Because Lena asked me to." He answered.
"Lena? As in, Lena Luthor?"
"Are there other Lena that you know?"
"Lena del Rey?"
"Kara, I'm pretty sure that it's Lana. Not Lena."
Kara huffed. "Now isn't the time to be sarcastic with me, Olsen."
James shrugged. "You started it."
"We're going way off topic now." Kara grumbled. "Anyway, what does Lena have to do with this?"
"The day you found the letter," James started to explain. "Lena found out that you had it and rushed in here, panicking-"
"Wait! Lena was here that day?" Kara interjected.
"Yes, she was, now let me finish." Kara pursed her lips and nodded, letting James continue. "She told me that the letter you currently have wasn't ready, yet."
"Clearly." Kara mumbled.
"What did I say about letting me finish?"
"Right." Kara smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. Won't happen again. Continue."
He looked at Kara skeptically before continuing. "She doesn't want you to know. Said she wasn't ready, yet, and she was afraid that if you found out that she was the one who wrote the letter, it will affect your relationship with her. Probably she was taking it in a bad way. Which is quite ridiculous if you ask me."
Kara was about to ask why but decided to just bite her tongue and let James continue. "Anyway, she came here and asked for my help. She knew that you will be snooping around and won't stop until you found who wrote the letter. She left her planner here and told me to give this to you saying that it's mine whenever you decided to show up here and ask me about it. She said that eventually you'll come here and she was right."
Kara was deep in thoughts. She was asking herself why would Lena think like that? It's not like she would just leave her because of a heartwarming letter. Okay, heartwarming to her and she's aware that Lena was oblivious to what she was feeling towards the said letter... or ever towards Lena, herself.
"Lena's in love with me..." Kara uttered quietly but enough for James to hear.
"I thought that was already obvious?" James walked back to his chair and sat down. "What with her opening up more to you than she did to others, both of you exchanging sweet words and being extra touchy and all to each other."
Kara's brow furrowed. "That's what friends do, right?"
James chuckled. "You're friends with Maggie but you don't exchange 'I love you's as often as you do with Lena and no, Alex doesn't count. It's understandable 'cause she's your sister. Lena only lets you get all touchy and clingy with her and you're only like that towards Lena. Heck, even us are friends but we don't do any of those." Offering a smile, he continued. "Admit it. You've already fallen for her before you have even realized it."
Realization dawned upon her making her gasp. "Holy cow. You're right. Oh my God. I thought I was just falling for her but now that I think about it... All that jealousy I felt when she told me about her ex, the urge to protect her from anything and everything, or the way my stomach was like having butterflies when she's laughing or smiling. It all makes sense now."
Still smiling, James looked at her and said, "Go get your girl."
Kara grinned. "You bet I will."
She dashed out of James' office feeling giddy and excited, but stopped at the doorway to turn around. "Oh, and James?"
"Yes, Kara?"
"Thank you." She beamed at him before completely stepping out of his office, feeling confident that everything will be going well.

What S5 of Supergirl should have focused on.
I wanted to post this before the season finale, just because it may have a good finale that doesn’t make up for all the mistakes the show made along the way, especially the ones that could have been easily fixed with some proper storytelling that not only pleases the fans but better suits the story your trying to tell.
1. Kara and Nias friendship/ mentor ship. This season preferably 5B is somewhat focusing on Kara trying to catch Lex. Get proof on him that proves he is not what he seems to be. One of the ways she is doing this is through journalism. Instead of having Kara work with William she should have worked with Nia and here’s why. Not only does it make sense but it would improve the plot the only thing William has is a bad feeling about Lex and as good as that can be think of Nia who not only has the same feeling but knows he’s bad because she has her memories from Earth 38 while to back that up while on the other hand William does not. It’s a wild goose chase with him he doesn’t know what he’s looking for but Nia does. I mean just think that through who would make more sense for Kara to work with Someone who simply has a biased gut feeling that he’s bad because of what happened to his friend vs someone who has all of her memories and knows he is bad so she simply knows what to look for and can investigate what Lex changed comparing her new vs old memories. Its logistically makes more sense to use Nia. As important as diversity is and as much as the show should value its woman more above all that it just makes sense. When they first introduced Nia they implied they wanted them to have a similar relationship to Supercat this time reversed having Kara be the mentor which is great. It can show how much Kara has grown since season 1. Last season they started to do that but that’s been mainly dropped since 4B and its a real shame. They could have a similar type relationship if the show focused on them more but if they don’t then they won’t be able to because it won’t have the same amount dept. They’re showing vs telling but then again the show has been having a big problem with that lately with many characters/aspects of the show.
Also hes not even a good reporter/journalist Lex said he has been spoon feeding William all his info. It’s such a joke the show tried to amp him up as being such a good reporter yet he’s awful heck Winn could have done a better job at reporting.
2. Karas past/ trauma
Kara has been through so much this past season and it isn’t even finished yet. The fall out of her relationship with Lena. Lex rising to power once again and lastly LOSING HER ENTIRE PLANET AND FAMILY once again! The show really hasn’t discussed/ tackled Karas trauma/ past since s3 and even then it was only briefly and contained to one episode arcs vs in s1 when it was dispersed throughout the entire season. With everything that has happened this would have been a perfect season to do that and go back to its roots of S1 but in true Supergirl fashion they didn’t. So far has contained Kara only mentioning her past when it comes to Hope speeches which even those are rare now a days. Since crisis ended I think Kara has only mentioned it twice if at all and that’s when week of the villains forced her to (other Brainy bottling his earth). Kara has lost everyone once again in s1 it was Karas main mission to make sure that wouldn’t happen again she would save earth like she couldn’t save Krypton at whatever means necessary. Then in crisis she wasn’t able to do that and despite everything she did she wasn’t able to do so and lost everyone. Her sister her moms her friends everyone. She succeeded in getting everyone back but it shouldn’t be dismissed that she lost everyone yet it is. 5B should have heavily focused on this through the main of the week plotlines/ through her relationships with her friends and family. Like Melissa wants this finally should have been the season where Kara goes to therapy. Like I genuinely don’t get this show Kara lost everyone yet its barely mentioned Kara and Alex only share one scene discussing it and that was during the crossover in the legends episode it wasn’t even an episode of Supergirl that did it (big sigh) when another show does better things with your characters then you do that’s a problem. She lost her mom Eliza yet they have shared no scenes well none outside the funeral which had nothing to do with her and was another example of them not letting her grieve. Its so unrealistic that Kara wouldn’t have flown to Midvale the minute she was able to do to give Eliza the biggest hug it doesn’t matter if Eliza wouldn’t have her memories Kara would (the actress returned this season so she was clearly available to shoot more scenes yet didn’t because this is supergirl after all). Sidenote can they have Kara call Eliza mom more often like having her call her mom doesn’t make Alura her mom anyless she can have two moms because she actually does I know mind blowing. She lost her mom Alura twice yet they refuse to mention outside of a line or two that’s there more so to move along the plot. This has been a problem ever since they had her return in s3 but Kara has so many unresolved feelings and now she’s lost her twice and yet they still refuse so address it which is not only frustrating but sad for Kara as a character. She should be able to address these feelings about how she’s mad at her/ how she felt abandoned by her and still love her a the same time. Them showing Kara be mad at her doesn’t mean she loves her anyless and would be more healthy in the long run yet they won’t do it.
3. Lenas past, ptsd, and her mother.
They have been teasing for years whether not not Lena would turn truly evil but hinting at things over and over again and even though everything Lena has done proved the opposite it was still a lingering question. This was supposed to be the season that finally tackled this subject headon and show where Lena would land now knowing Kara/ Supergirl’s secret. I’m not upset Lena did questionable things going into this season I knew they would do so more then ever and from 5x01 that was adamant and I think it was very important to finally do for her character going forward to finally confirm that Lena was good/isn’t Lex. If they wanted to show and contrast how different Lena is from the Luthors there is so many others ways to do that, by just letting Lena be Lena is one of them. You’ve have been writing her that way for 4 YEARS, don’t change that by trying to make the show more interesting by adding “drama” you began to ruin it and an amazing character. That being said the way the show executed that was very poorly 5A was okay but 5B like it did with a lot of things was ultimately the down fall for this season. They’re first big mistake being Non-nocere. Now seeing 5x18 I get its overall idea and reason for being there but it still only should have been a side plot that was around for 4 to 5 episodes tops in the beginning of the season. It also really proves that it was never truly there for Lena it was a plotline made for Lex and to show just how manipulative he can be over which is so frustrating because once again they throw their main women characters to the side to help the men which are guest/minor. It was dragged on to long and stayed way past its prime to the point where it was unenjoyable even Katies amazing acting skills can only carry a bad plot line for so long. Non-nocere should have been there to help Lenas plot line not the other way around. It should have revolved around her story but not be her entire plot line for the season. I think them just going over Lenas trauma, abuse, neglect and abandonment issues would have been enough and a much more effective storyline then Non-nocere but if they wanted to use it then I think they should have atleast called back to Lenas past storylines. When Lena found about what Jack was doing with Biomax she was not only disgusted but terrified her feelings on that wouldn’t have changed so instead of it being nearly implied it should have been mentioned and it should have been one of the things that helped her realize how bad it was sooner. Her getting over the lo0se of Non-nocere and how she feels as though she failed once again would have been much better than the actual story of her using non-nocere itself. She was so afraid in season two that her feelings would get the best of her “I am very, very afraid of the person I might be”. This should have been explored way more and lastly instead of them only focusing on her mom for one episode for the plot (the medallion) it should have been a recurring storyline all season. Not only that she misses her but how her death affects her and how she puts her mom up on a pedestal because she never really knew her only what she remembers about her which isn’t a lot. The guilt she feels over her death etc. If they wanted to use it to move the plot forward they easily could have done that. There was a fan theory Lena’s mom was not only alive but behind Leviathan and that would have been so interesting. Here’s a woman she’s held up to such high standards all her life it would be interesting to see the effects of that. That maybe her mom wasn’t who she believed she was to be and that combined with Karas betrayal could have launched her going to the “dark side”. Also I love Katie and I love seeing more of her on my screen but they really couldn’t find another actress to play her mom or better yet not use a shitty wig. A wig isn’t gonna change anything we all know its Katie. It’s fine you used her many shows use there actors for multiple parts the wig was so unnecessary especially when it’s that bad (thank god Katie could pull off any look, ugly outfits and party city wigs included). Using her to play the mom wasn’t bad and would make a lot of sense as to why Lillian hates her so much she’s a spitting image of her mom. It doesn’t excuse the abuse Lena was a child but it makes sense. I mean she did say Lena looked so much like her etc. Then again shitty wigs are the least of their problems, fix your storylines above all else.
Bonus: You know your fan favorite couple is Lena and Kara and since this is supposed to be a season about their relationship just lean all in don’t tease and then not have them interact for 5 episodes in a row it’s frustrating.

Supercorp Anastasia AU #1
I have more than one Anastasia supercorp AU, of varying levels of historical accuracy, but this one is mirrored against the Broadway musical, and casts Kara as the youngest and much celebrated daughter of the ruling family, though her much younger cousin Kal is the heir.
Lena is the bastard daughter of a disgraced count, who died shortly after her birth, leaving behind a disgraced wife and son who soon spearheads the communist movement. Though the family’s disgrace was a reasonable response to the unethical and horrific experiments Lionel conducted, his heir Lex holds a grudge against the royal family for his sudden change in circumstances. He calls for their removal, with violence if necessary, and is brilliant and charismatic enough to soon rise through the ranks until he is the head and face of the revolution.
After her mother dies in Lena’s early childhood, Lena grows up on the streets, hungry but smart and resourceful, causing no harm but taking no shit. She doesn’t know her half-brother, but Lex recognizes her easily– she is the spitting image of the family’s former chambermaid, and what parts of Lena are not her mother are all Lionel.
But Lex keeps the knowledge to himself, and remains a mysterious and ominous figure in Lena’s life, the majority of which sees the societal and cultural upheaval following the abdication and eventual execution of the royal family, which plays out much like the Romanoff’s. It’s presumed that most of the family perished, save for the Grand Duchess Astra and her husband Non, who were abroad at the time of the coup, and now remain in exile.
But one child survived– Kara.
With no memory and no clue to her past save for a pendant around her neck and the jagged scars left by the bullets that nearly killed her, Kara works relentlessly to survive a treacherous regime until she can cross a border– any border– and find a new life elsewhere.
In her journey she meets Lena, now a woman endeavoring to escape Russia for Paris, where she and her best friend Jack Spheer hope to attend a prestigious university and study science. They earn money by facilitating forged papers and visas, constantly vigilant of the Red Army and the threat of being outed by neighbors just as desperate to survive.
Kara goes to them in the hopes of finally escaping the country, only to learn that the army has recently updated their visas to be counterfeit-proof– Jack and Lena no longer have the means or technology to manufacture fakes. The only way to get visas now would be to bribe an official into giving them blank ones, which Lena and Jack aren’t averse to, but would leave them too destitute to enroll in university once they reached Paris.
But Lena and Jack are both giant softies, and when Kara tells them her tale, they search for a way to help. Then Jack gets an idea: the Grand Duchess Astra has long offered a reward for the return of her niece. If they can pass Kara off as the lost princess, the reward would more than make up for the cost of the visas, and would get them all out of the country.
Lena is hesitant at first– it’s too risky, and–
“There’s no proof that she isn’t! Look at her! She is the spitting image!”
There’s no denying that. Lena often finds herself staring at their new friend, as though she’d somehow recognize her if she gives just one more look.
“And you know everything there is to know about court life,” Jack continues, sensing Lena’s imminent relent. “And honestly-- even if we don’t have the money to go to university, at least we’ll be out of here.”
Ultimately, Lena agrees to the plan, out of desperation more than anything else. So does Kara. The next year passes in a blur of working/stealing for enough money to cover the extra visa fee, and an endless stream of memorization of names, faces, and etiquettes.
Somewhere in the mix, Lex gets wind that Lena is in the final push to leave– he starts to take an interest, and offers her a job. Lena resists at first, but accepts when Lex’s offer turns dangerous and the money he offers is enough to get them out in half the time. Lex doesn’t know about Kara or their ultimate plan to abscond with her, and believes that he has Lena under control.
It’s not until Lena fails to show up to work one day that Lex learns the truth about everything– that Lena had been using him as deftly as he’d believed he used her, that she’d found a claimant to the throne, and that she intended to return her to her rightful place. He goes after them himself, enraged by Lena’s gall and the risk Kara poses to his position and that of his regime. He strikes out with the intention of bringing Lena home-- and to kill the imposter who would be princess.
Meanwhile, as the trio travels out of Russia towards France, Jack starts to suspect two things: that Kara is more than she seems, and that Lena is entirely taken with her. Kara remembers things– not true memories, but she draws on information she shouldn’t know. Names and details that no one has told her.
By the time they reach Paris, it’s easy to convince Astra’s lady-in-waiting Cat Grant of their suspected truth.
“Not just because of your uncanny resemblance and exhaustive knowledge, which we all know can be fabricated,” the sharp woman delivers, eyeing Kara with a cool gaze before turning her gaze on Lena. “But because of you.”
Lena stiffens abruptly. “W-what do you mean?”
Cat lifts an arch brow, but ultimately obfuscates. “That’s a conversation for another time,” she says. “Astra no longer receives prospective claimants, but should a cultured party such as yourselves wishes to meet her, she will be found at the ballet in two nights’ time. Should you also find yourselves there, I can arrange an introduction.”
That night, Kara suffers a violent nightmare, one wakes her abruptly and sends her sobbing into Lena’s arms, who comes to check on her. It takes several long minutes for her anguish to pass, but when she calms, Kara diverts attention from her tears by asking if Lena ever met the princess.
“No,” Lena says softly. “Not exactly. But I did see her, once.”
When Kara prods, desperate for a distraction, Lena explains how once, when she was nine, there had been a grand parade to celebrate the Tsar’s birthday. The entire royal family had ridden by in a motorcade, and Lena had taken one glimpse at the youngest princess before darting forward with a nicked flower in her hand. She’d dodged between guards and called out the princess’ name, and when their eyes met, the princess gave her the most radiant smile Lena had ever seen before or since.
She confesses, then, that some nights she still dreams of that day, and the smile she received.
Kara swears Lena tells her story so well she can almost feel herself there too. When Lena urges her to lean into it, to add the memory to her own story, Kara begins to tell it again, from her own perspective.
How it had been too hot, and her dress collar too tight. It made her itch, but she’d only waved to the crowds as expected. She talks of catching sight of a ragged girl almost her age– how even dirty and threadbare, she’d envied freedom of the girl’s trousers.
How to her surprise the girl had darted forward, a flower in her hand appearing from nowhere, and dodged between vigilant guards nearly unseen, until she’d gotten almost close enough to catch up with the car. But instead of reaching out to climb aboard, as Kara assumed she might, the girl had stopped short, and bent into a deep bow, presenting Kara with a plain but perfect daisy.
Kara had smiled, and pulled an equally dazzling grin to the lips of the urchin girl. The car had pulled away to be swallowed by the crowds further ahead, but she had kept her eyes on that girl until she was out of sight, and had hoped against hope that they would one day meet again.
When she finishes, Lena is stunned and silent. Under the shocked stare, Kara realizes the details she’d echoed that Lena hadn’t shared– the trousers, the bow, the flowers… the lingering gaze that had filled Lena’s belly with butterflies.
Certainty hits them both at the same time. Kara can barely breathe under the weight of it, and almost bursts into tears when Lena shoots to her feet.
“Lena, wait! I swear I–”
But Lena doesn’t leave. She steps in front of Kara, staring with wide eyes before lowering onto one knee, head bowed and hand clasped against her heart.
“Your Majesty.”

The next morning, Cat Grant visits them for tea. As they sit, Kara learns what happened after the parade traveled on that day. How Kara’s mother, Alura, had seen the exchange between the two girls, and how wide her daughter’s smile had been. How Alura had asked her lady-in-waiting, Cat, to locate the girl, and bring her to the palace to be Kara’s handmaiden and playmate.
Of course Lena would need training and lessons before she could be presented, so she had lived some time with tutors at the Grant Manor, meeting Cat only rarely, accounting for Lena’s lack of recollection (she remembers her tutors, but not Cat Grant). But the coup and the family’s execution had ended those prospects for Lena before they could begin. Lena had returned to the streets, head full of new knowledge and personal experience that the ruling class weren’t all heartless monsters.
“It seems you two found your way back together after all,” Cat remarks with a final sip of her tea. “If you should still desire to study, Lena, I will sponsor your tuition to any university you desire.”
For now, Cat simply takes them shopping. She sets Jack up with suits and a tuxedo for the ballet. Kara accepts any dress that Cat thrusts at her, but Lena seems out of her element. It’s too opulent, too rich, and the dresses are so light against her skin she feels naked.
In the end, she too walks out with trousers and blouses, which Jack teases her about mercilessly. She earns stares on the street, but Kara doesn’t know if it’s because the sight of a woman in trousers is so uncommon, or because Lena is simply breathtaking.
When it comes time for the ballet, Kara expects to find Lena waiting in a tuxedo as sharp as Jack’s, but Kara finds herself the first of them to be ready. Jack joins her minutes later, and they watch in simultaneous stunned silence as Lena descends the stairs in a beautiful gown, a rich green velvet that makes her look regal and imposing. But her features are uncertain until she catches Kara’s eye, and finds a dazzled smile staring up at her, at which point her chest and neck blooms in a crimson blush.
They spend the ballet sitting too close together, hands clasped tightly together as they sit in Cat’s box and stare at the Grand Duchess Astra. Neither of them are aware of the dark glower of a familiar face staring up from the orchestra below.
Astra recognizes Kara immediately the moment Cat announces her, confirmed by the necklace Astra had once given her twin sister, now hanging around Kara’s neck. They both fall together in a cloud of tears and embraces. Lena and Cat slip away to grant them privacy, and Cat watches as Lena’s features slowly fall.
“She’s gone,” Lena remarks softly.
“Don’t be absurd,” Cat chides. “She’s just on the other side of the curtain.”
“She’s a princess. And I– I’m just…” Lena’s mind fills with the curses and shouts that had dogged her entire life. Trash. Gutter rat. Thief. Bastard. Whorespawn.
Cat regards her carefully, and then slips Lena an old creased letter from her purse. “It took me some time to track this down. In fact, it’s one of the reasons I visited Astra when I did, before the coup.”
“What is it?” Lena asks.
Cat scoffs. “I’m certain the tutors I hired informed me you’d learned to read in three languages before you disappeared into the wind. Why don’t you take a stab at that.”
Lena unfolds it, and begins to read the contents of the letter. It’s a mix of situational reports, mindless gossip, and speculation, but the final paragraph catches Lena’s eye.
In her final letter to me, Elizabeta has written that she has delivered of me a daughter. I am told the girl has dark hair and green eyes, and has a smile like the sun. In the year since, I have received no further word, and I fear the worst. I have dispatched men to search for them both, but to no avail. How could there be, when we have no details to search with but her name:
Lena.
She shakes her head. “I don’t understand.”
“This letter was written by Count Lionel, to a cohort in the imperial army. It, and the birth records I tracked down before the fall, confirms that you are the daughter of Count Lionel Luthor. The search he details here constitutes his claim on you.”
Lena blinks as the paper starts to tremble in her shaking fingers. “What does this mean?”
“It means you are of noble blood,” Cat tells her plainly, “and that while a commoner may no longer associate with the princess… You can.”

Cat’s prediction holds true: Lena and Kara barely spend a moment out of each other’s sight. Astra is more than agreeable to formalizing Lena’s position and her inheritance of Lionel’s rights and titles, and Kara insists that Lena be presented to the world alongside her.
A press conference is arranged in short order, and during the chaos on the day of, Lex finds his opening. He slips into the decadent townhome, blending easily with the mix of staff and reporters and security. He finds Lena and Kara sharing a quiet moment together in the solarium, calming each other’s nerves before they face the press.
Lena bolts to her feet in recognition and fear, planting herself between him and Kara, who rises more slowly with confusion in her features. Her hand touches softly against the small of Lena’s back; Lena’s arm extends to one side, corralling Kara to stay behind her.
“What are you doing here?” Lena demands.
“I’ve come to bring you home, comrade,” Lex returns smoothly. “You have been sorely missed in the motherland.”
Lena shakes her head. “I am home.”
She doesn’t mean the opulent house around them, or even Paris– wherever Kara is, Lena is home.
Lex doesn’t intend to give her a choice. He grabs her by the arm and pulls her to him. Lena knows how to take care of herself, but the skirts make it hard for her to move, and when a gun cocks in Lex’s hand, Lena freezes.
He aims directly at Kara’s head where she’s frozen mid-stride in an effort to help Lena. Her eyes go wide and glassy at the dark barrel bearing down on her. Her breath comes quicker and quicker, shortening with every inhale.
On the other side of the trigger, Lex smirks at her. “The false princess… Although, I admit you do resemble her.”
“Stop!” Lena cries. “Don’t hurt her please. I’ll go with you, just let her go, she won’t stop you.”
“Lena--” Kara gasps. “No!”
“I have no interest in bargains,” Lex says. “I cannot suffer the princess to live.”
Lena shakes her head. “Why? She hasn’t done anything!”
“Not yet. Nor did she or her family do anything to help our people while we starved and died in the streets!”
Lena scowls. “Yeah? And what’s changed there?” She wrenches herself free, almost. Lex manages to keep hold of her wrist, but Lena glares at him without fear. “My belly didn’t fill when the Tsars were murdered. I was just as cold as I was the night before and the night after.”
“You know nothing--”
“Face it, Lex! Russia is no better than it was. She traded one autocracy for another-- the only thing that’s changed is that now YOU’RE in power. That’s all you ever cared about.”
Lex’s grip turns bruising, causing Lena to gasp in pain. “I see you learned much from those pretentious scholars.”
Lena blinks. “How do you know about that.”
“Did you think I wouldn’t keep track of my bastard baby sister?” Lex pulls Lena closer. “Did you think I would stand by and watch as she was welcomed to the court that cast my family to the streets?”
“You’re…?”
“Yes,” Lex hisses. “Our father died in disgrace, and yet they would take you, a bastard from the gutter into their arms. It was unconscionable. That was when I knew it was time to strike.”
Fighting tears, Lena renews her struggle. “You murdered an entire family-- started a war-- because you were jealous?”
“They believed themselves gods!” Lex shouts. “They would have seen Russia wither to nothing if it meant keeping their grip on our throats! I have liberated us!”
“You’re insane-- augh!” Lena’s growl stops with a sharp cry, as Lex whips the butt of his pistol against her skull. The cry snaps Kara out of her fear, and the world refocuses around her. She sees Lena sag, staggering when Lex tugs her into his chest and traps her there with an arm of steel tight around her shoulders.
Kara takes a step forward, but pulls back when the gun returns to aim directly at her forehead. Heart pounding, she forces herself to look away from the barrel, instead locking her gaze on Lena, still struggling to regain her senses.
She swallows thickly.
“I know my family made mistakes,” Kara pleads, lifting her hands placatingly. “I don’t intend on repeating them. I am no threat to you or to Russia, and Lena certainly isn’t. Please-- you don’t have to do this.”
Lex pauses, his frame relaxing slightly. “I don’t have to do this,” he echoes. “Funny.”
His finger settles on the trigger.
“That’s what you said the first time I killed you.”
Lena launches herself at the gun before he can fire, sending his shot wide. Kara’s entire body flinches from the flash of combustion, the zing of the bullet that sinks into a wooden beam off to her right. But Lena folds hers around the gun itself, controlling its line of fire as she struggles to take possession of it.
The struggle ceases entirely when a second gunshot cracks through the solarium.
Kara screams.
Lena staggers.
“No!” Lex cries. Drawn by the first gunshot, guards finally spill into the solarium, wresting Lex away from Lena. The gun clatters to the ground at Lena's feet, its muzzle glistening with blood.
Lena collapses, and Kara drops to her knees beside her, giving no thought to their finery even as blood pools beneath them both.
Kara can barely breathe through the flashbacks pressing against her eyelids: suddenly Lena has joined her in Yekaterinburg, and Kara watches as her lifeblood joins that of Kal, her mother, her father… even her dog, Krypto.
But when Lena lifts a trembling hand to Kara’s cheek, the warm gloss of blood grounding her in the present.
“We’ve come a long way, haven’t we?” Lena coughs. “Kara–”
“Save your breath, Lena, please. There are doctors, they can help you…”
Lena smiles with paling lips. “You’ve become a part of my story. I– I’m so glad it ended this way.”
Kara tightens her grip sharply, scoldingly. “It’s not over. Not by a long shot. We still have happily ever after.”
“I– found you. Think– that qualifies.”
“Lena–”
“Kara!” Astra rushes into the room, entourage in tow.
Kara looks up with streaming eyes, hand clamped tight around Lena's slackening fingers.
“Please, Aunt Astra. We have to help her, there must be something--” Her voice cracks, and a sob heaves from her chest. “I can’t lose her too!”

Hope doesn't return for days. Lena lingers on the brink of life, stubborn even at death’s door. Doctors attend to her day and night, and Kara doesn't leave her side but for the time it takes to refresh herself. But then, finally, the doctors give their final prognosis: Lena will survive.
The damage is great, but Lena is stronger, and motivated--Kara suspects-- by spite and sheer cussedness. After all, if the streets of St. Petersburg weren't enough to kill her, a lousy bullet sure isn't.
It's several days more before Lena opens her eyes, but when she finally does, green eyes blink blearily at Kara as she leans forward intently. She gathers Lena's cool hand in both of her own.
“You’re going to be okay,” Kara promises.
Lena’s brow crinkles with muddled confusion.
“Who…. are you?”
The breath freezes in Kara’s chest as the world slows around her. No… no, no, no not this. Anything but this!
Lena’s features crease into an exhausted smile.
“Too soon?”
Kara chokes on her relief, and punches Lena’s arm indignantly. “Don’t you ever do that to me again! You sick, perverted–!”
“Marry me.”
Kara blinks. “What?”
“Marry me,” Lena rasps again. “Please. I had a whole plan to ask, after the press conference, but I don’t want to risk being interrupted again. Kara Zor-el, Grand Duchess of Russia and queen of my heart– will you marry me?”
Tears burning in her eyes, Kara nods. “Yes, you big dummy. You didn’t think you’d get rid of me so easily did you?”
Lena laughs, then winces in pain. Kara kisses away her grimace, and in a matter of moments they’re both a mess of tears and laughter.
Their happily ever afters surpass that of any fairytale to come before.

Mon El's Return
Soooo Mon El is coming back, personally don't see what the fuss is about. It'll most likely be for one episode, and we are going into "what if" territory here. It would be quote bizarre for the writers to
1. have Kara get with Mon El
2. have Mon El leave
3. have Kara believing she can't be Kara Danvers anymore just because she no longer had a man in her life
4. to have him return with a Mrs.
5 . for him unable to keep away from her right infront of his wife's salad.
6. to Kara blatantly calling him out on his douche bag behaviour.
7. for him to leave and for her not to have mentioned his name since then and been a happy Kara up to the Lena mess. Blatantly showing she's over him.
7. To have having her a very odd out of nowhere flirt on with William.
8. To having her suddenly seeing him again and suddenly deciding he's what defines her and she can't possibly live without him???
9. To then having Chris guest star and have Kara in a relationship where she sees her other half occasionally on screen? She would have to talk about him more than we would ever see him. Plus Mon El does have a life in the future, I know he was up for abandoning that once before until Brainy called him out on it but to have that exact same story line again only to have him stay? What? Nah makes no sense at all. Plus that make Kara look awful if you see how she's been acting with William as romantic. "Sorry William but my ex boyfriend who i sent into space and he came back married, only to flirt with me and who went back to the future is now back and even though I was absolutely over him and haven't mentioned his name in a few years the Writers of this show would like to revert me back to a giggly mess of a girl who's only purpose in life is to swoon at the sight of a man??" Not a good look for Kara.
No!! There may be a bit of awkwardness between them but I honestly believe Karamel has sailed. I would be willing to bet there were no plans to ever have Mon El back until they decided to do this 'what if' episode, it makes sense if they are going to look back on possible events, plus Winn will have to go back to the future at some point.
Personally I was never a fan of Mon El, I was buzzing when they finally had Kara say he was a jerk and call him out. I also liked the fact that even Chris Wood mentioned how bad Mon El was and his "growth" didn't always work.
On as separate note I saw a few tweets about Lena being evil simply because her last name is Luthor, I mean to be fair Lena has gone a bit off the deep end lately, but none of the things she has done were even mentioned. These people say she's evil purely on the basis of her last name and blood line??? So by that logic then Kara is evil because she's a Zor El and her dad made myriad and her aunt tried to use it. How evil she must be for having the same blood and name as her father!! Winn is defiantly evil because his dad was Toy Man and killed people, so yep Winn as a Shott must be evil to. Mon El must be evil incarnate since his parents were bad and ran a slave owning planet, no chance for him! Oh wait... what's that? This logic only applies to Luthors? Right...... I can tell you people will go far in life with your logic, wouldn't want to spar with you!
Also also, I see people going back to the age old argument of how Mon El was bad but he learned to be a better person from Kara, but Lena was bad and didn't learn anything from Kara?? Erm... first of all it is NOT Kara's job to teach anyone no matter who they are to be better people. Yes as a hero she can inspire people but it isn't her purpose in life. Secondly no one is under any obligation to emulate Kara or follow her way of thinking, whether they be heroes, villains or ordinary people.
Lastly Mon El when he arrived was a douche bag who thought he new best. He didn't listen to Kara he humoured her before disregarding anything she said in regards to helping him fit in or when he spent time trying to play the hero and put people in danger so he could be "the man".
Lena on the other hand didn't need to learn to be a good or better person. Lena was ALREADY a good person, who did listen to other point of views (the alien detection device, scrapped in the very episode it was brought up in after Kara voiced concern) the moment she arrived she wanted to be a force for good and she helped Kara out and went around saving the world and thinking of 10 impossible things before breakfast! Lena was put down by people (save Kara) by virtue of her last name, exactly the same dumb ass logic the above people I mentioned use. Lena puts herself down all the time. Haters will drag her down something rotten, but when Lena actually agrees and says she is bad she's suddenly "wow is me"?? Lena didn't need Kara to teach her to be a good person, even though Lena thought she needed that. What Lena needed was to be loved, trusted and treated like a person and not as a "Luthor". Something that Kara was doing until she royally f**ked that up in season 3. You can argue until the apocalypse that Lena was the bad one because she had made krypronite but you have to acknowledge WHY! Lena didn't ruin her relationship with Kara and Kara didn't (then) ruin her relationship with Lena. Supergirl ruined her relationship with Lena and that was always going to come back and bite Kara in the ass should Lena ever find out the truth. Yeah Lena's gone down a dodgy path but am I the only one that saw her helping to evacuate as many people as she could during Crisis?
So yeah, Lena didn't need to learn to be a better person. She was already a good person who was always willing to save the day, put herself in danger and rush to Supergirls aid even when they were fighting.
Lena went overboard with myriad but it was coming from good intentions, but it wasn't Lena's place to make those decisions for people. Remember Astra did the exact same thing, it wasn't from a place of malice, it was to save people from themselves. Problem is you as noble an idea it is to want the human race to not fight, kill or destroy the planet you have to let people choose.

The Professor And I (pt. 16)
Intro: Hello lovelies!! I hope you guys are having a good day/night!! I can’t believe we’re almost done with the series!! It’s crazy that there’s just one more part to this, anyways! Enjoy!! :)
Note: Y/N is gender neutral. Lena is a professor. Y/N is a student. Everything is revealed!

A few nights after the events of Thanksgiving, you were back at the university for one more week of classes before finals week, you walked into your Neuro class and looked around, your seat having been taken due to you being later than usual and Alex having not been able to save it so you found a spot that was unfortunately in the front row, Alex giving you a worried look as you passed your usual row before you plopped down in your chair and quickly averted your eyes when Lena looked over at you, her frowning before she cleared her throat and turned to the class “Alright class, one reminder don’t forget to finish up your group projects-“ Lena said, getting cut off by most of the students groaning “I know, but if you listened, you and your assigned partner should either be done or close to done” Lena said, looking around at all of you and you turning to locate your partner who looked at you as well ‘After class?’ Winn mouthed, looking at you and you nodded and gave him a thumbs up before focusing back on the lecture.
After the class, you stood up and packed up your things before turning and nearly running into Winn “Sorry” he chuckled, taking a step back and walking with you out of the classroom and feeling Lena’s stare as you walked out “Library work for you?” You asked, looking at Winn and watching him nod “Library sounds good” he said, following you out and the two of you making it to the library before setting all your things down “How much more do we have?” Winn asked as he opened up his laptop, looking at you as you opened yours “Maybe a quarter left? You don’t have anymore classes do you?” You asked, looking at him and watching him smile and shake his head “Nope, I’m all yours” he assured, pulling up the presentation you two were working on before hooking his laptop to the HDMI cord that connected it to the screen that was at the end of your table “Lets get started, shall we?” He suggested, glancing at you before the two of you got to work.
A few hours later, at Lena’s office, she was looking through the photos she was sent, it being the pictures that were taken a while back of the two of you making out on her couch in the office, her sighing as she pushed them away and reread the letter that was in front of her:
End the relationship or we’ll leak these and both your lives will be ruined, that and we’ll hurt your little lover

“I can’t let them scare me… They shouldn’t hurt them now” Lena muttered, jumping when she heard a knock on her door and glancing at the time 11:00pm ‘Who would be here at this hour?’ Lena thought to herself before she stood up and opened the door “Alex? Kara? What are you two doing here so late?” Lena asked, raising an eyebrow at the two standing in front of her and Alex glared at her as she crossed her arms “Where’s Y/N? We haven’t seen them since I left class and they aren’t answering my messages” Alex said, glaring at Lena who raised a delicate eyebrow “I have no idea, I haven’t talked to them since we… Broke up” Lena said, saying the last part quietly and watching Kara’s brow furrow in worry “The last we heard they were going to the library to work with Winn on a project… We checked there but no one is there minus a few other students” Kara said, looking at Lena whos face shifted to worry “You said they were with Winn?” She asked, quickly turning around and going to search through her papers to find Winn’s paper then comparing it to the letter she had just received before break “No no no no” Lena muttered, looking between the two handwritings and seeing them matching “What? Is Y/N in danger?” Alex asked, taking the papers from Lena and looking at them “I swear to god if something happens to them” Alex said, glaring at Lena as she set the papers down “I knew I shouldn’t of let them out of my sight” Lena said, beginning to pace before Alex put her hands on Lenas shoulder and forced her to stop “Are. They. In. Danger” Alex seethed, glaring at Lena who closed her eyes before nodding “More than likely” she whispered.
An hour earlier at the library “I’m gonna go get some water, need anything?” You asked, setting your book down as you stood up and stretched “I’m good, thanks though” Winn said, glancing at you and you nodded before heading towards where the vending machines were, coming back a few moments later to Winn on the phone “I don’t want to do this” he said, you watching as he ran a hand through his hair and seeming conflicted “I-“ he said before you spoke up “Winn? What do you not want to do?” You asked, looking at him and watching his face turn guilty “I’m so sorry, Y/N” he said, looking at something over your shoulder and before you could turn around you felt a flash of pain to the back of your head before everything went dark.
Back at Lena’s office “What do you mean ‘more than likely’?!” Kara asked, looking at Lena as Alex grabbed the collar of Lena’s shirt “Let me go and I’ll tell you everything” Lena said, looking at Alex who huffed but released Lena and started pacing “Well?” Alex asked, looking at Lena and gesturing for her to get on with it, they were running out of time to find you, watching as Lena went and shuffled through her things “Here’s all that I know… A number has been messaging me about how I needed to stop seeing them, I think it’s the same number that has been trying to get ahold of Y/N” Lena said, letting them read over the messages before continuing “I had the police look into it and they found the location of where the messages were being sent and I knew it could only be one person…”
When you started waking up, you felt yourself laying on cold ground and blinked a bit to get used to the bright light that was in what you assumed was a room that you were in, wincing as you slowly sat up and looked around, going to move your hands when you felt and heard heavy chains around your wrists “What the hell?” You asked, turning and seeing yourself chained to a wall, whipping your heard around with a groan when you heard someone sliding a key into your door before it opened “Ah, I see you’re awake” the person said, having a sneer on there face as they walked closer to you, their heels clicking on the concrete floor with every step before she kneeled down and cupped your face “I see why Lena would want you… But, let me introduce myself… Welcome to your hell, I’m Lillian Luthor”.

A Heart in Crisis - Part 2
Part 2 to this, though it can be read as a standalone. Summary: (Angst) The prophecy and Lena’s nightmares come to pass when Kara dies in Crisis.
Lena shouldn’t have worried about having to say goodbye. Once the Crisis arrived, time was a luxury no one could afford. Before Supergirl can even open her mouth to ask, Lena insists she accompanies the team to Earth 1. After all, the looming threat of the Monitor’s prophecy would occupy her mind no matter what earth she inhabited.
After arriving, she meets almost twenty people in the space of minutes (and it could barely be considered ‘meeting’ since no one in the room was prioritizing socialization or introductions). In a way it was comforting to know that everyone was focused on a common goal (Lena had always been a task-oriented workaholic anyway). In another, she wasn’t sure she trusted any of them to do the job properly.
So Lena had traveled to a strange earth with even stranger people, none of whom had the opportunity to make themselves less strange to her. Looking around, Lena felt alien, like she was falling through the sky endlessly with no foundation underneath her to keep her mind and body grounded.
But science...science was the same on any earth. Science was what Lena could do. Science is what could make her feel sane, and science could prevent her mind from repeating the Monitor’s words over and over in her head. Science could save Supergirl’s life.
Yet science wasn’t enough to stop Lena from looking up, hoping that each time a door opened that Supergirl would walk in. At this point, Lena didn’t even need to talk to her. She just wanted to see the Kryptonian - to know that she was still here.
Once again, Lena had become intent to only think of Kara as Supergirl. Supergirl was invulnerable - she had cheated death time and time again, and there had never been a moment where Lena had believed National City would have to exist without her. But Kara Danvers was someone Lena had worried for since the moment they met. She was awkward, sometimes jittery, and determined to do what was right at the risk of her life. For years Lena had worried that it was her presence that was constantly putting Kara in danger.
How dare Supergirl have made her worry needlessly for years. How dare she allow Lena’s guilt to fester, making her believe she was indulging in her own selfishness by not being able to let Kara go. Supergirl could take care of herself. So Lena wouldn’t worry, and she’d ignore a quaking heart. But she still wanted to see her.
Unfortunate for Lena, Supergirl had been spending a lot of time with Barry, and it only took one answer from one of the other scientists (Caitlin, perhaps?) for Lena to know why.
Impending death would most certainly be cause for bonding.
She wasn’t the only one frustrated by that fact – Alex had been pacing around Star Labs since they arrived, her hands on her hips and face solidified into a permanent scowl. Lena could tell the elder Danvers was attempting to remain stoic, but the shaking hands on her sides gave away the panic coursing through her veins.
Luthor’s, of course, don’t panic. They problem-solve. So that’s what Lena was going to do. Mar Novu may call himself a God, but as far as Lena could tell, Gods had been wrong since the beginning of time.
And sometimes denial is the only way someone can push on. The first few days are for preparation. The superheroes come and go at a whim while the scientists attempt to find a solution for antimatter. Everything seems routine, but the air is laced with fear. The clocks ticking on the walls become deafening. No matter what she does, Lena quivers. If she speaks, her voice shakes. If she types, she constantly hits backspace to fix her errors. If someone speaks over the comms, she would shudder in anticipation of the news that was coming closer and closer to reality.
And then the Anti-Monitor arrives, and all hell breaks loose. They plan a mission on an enormous scale. It’s a plan filled with endless possibilities of failure, experiments that no one on any earth has tried before, and for Supergirl to attempt to stall the enemy with Barry and all the other heroes to give them the time to complete their tasks.
Everyone's breaths become deeper, their eyes watching the ground. There isn’t a person in the room who hasn’t guessed what’s coming. Superman is the only one who protests the plan, if only for the sake of his cousin. Everyone else had already taken their turn over the past week. He doesn’t win the debate. One life versus infinite lives just doesn’t stand as an argument. That was the type of statistic that Lena had lived her life by since she was able to conjure thought.
But that was when her brain ruled her life. The heart has no such consistency.
“Suit up,” Oliver Queen orders, and the room comes alive.
Lena finds the Kryptonian standing on a balcony, looking fondly out at a world that isn’t even hers. The sun is beginning to set, casting the warmest glow on her skin. Lena can’t help it, she has to take a moment to admire her.
“What do you think the odds are of this plan working?” Supergirl doesn’t look at Lena when she asks the question. It makes Lena want to quieten her own heartbeat, just knowing that Kara probably knew it was her simply by listening to it.
“The science is experimental at best. But it seems the right people are here to do the job.”
“Yeah. They are.” Supergirl turns her head, the yellow sun reflecting in her eye. Even in its warmth, Supergirl’s fear glimmers on the surface. It takes a few seconds for her to form her next sentence, and when she does it tumbles out ungracefully. “I can’t fail another world. Not again.”
Lena walks next to the hero, shaking her head. “You didn’t fail Krypton. You’re Supergirl, the most persistent person I’ve ever met. If something could be done, you would have done it. Stop putting blame on a child for not saving a doomed planet. There’s no shame in surviving.”
Supergirl’s eyes fill with affection and longing. However just as quickly as it comes, her eyes discolor.
They both feel it. This is the moment. The last moment they have to say what they need to say to each other. But there’s not enough time to say anything that might make a difference. “Do you have to go?”
Supergirl stares at Lena, unguarded and unquestionable. “I need to save my universe.” Lena’s breath hitches underneath that intense gaze, and it’s only when Supergirl steps onto the balcony’s railing that Lena finally comprehends her meaning. Lena briskly steps forward one last time behind her.
“I don’t suppose there is any point to ask you not to be a hero?” Lena says pathetically.
Supergirl twists around, and after a single moment, something happens that Lena didn’t envision experiencing again. Kara laughs. It’s not boisterous. The laughter doesn’t quieten the screaming in Lena’s mind, nor does the shining of the super’s eyes stop the hero’s tears. But Lena can see Kara. It’s a reminder of something. Something Lena had long ago tried to block out, like a memory calling from across an ocean. Something so simple, most people might forget it existed. Lena loved Kara.
It’s not like before, where the initial thought was shoved into a box and taped shut with feelings of hatred and pain. Kara’s laughter is a reminder of burgers between work and victorious game nights. Of investigations and awkward almost dates. Of a superhero and a genius working together, staring at each other in disbelief that such a union could exist.
Lena had always loved Kara.
She must have smiled too because even as Kara’s laughter fades, it leaves an echo on Kara’s aura. However, when even that begins to diminish, Kara turns from her.
Lena is grateful for it. If this must be the last time she sees Kara, she wants to remember her smiling, standing in the sun as ethereal as a Goddess could be. That way, even with Kara’s back turned, she can pretend that the shaking in Kara’s shoulders is from laughter, and not from the anguished tears that she knows they are. Perhaps Kara turned for the exact same reason. Because Lena’s smile had begun to fade too.
Lena doesn’t need superhearing to catch Kara’s massive sigh. “Be safe, Lena.” Then, Kara drops from the balcony and disappears with a whoosh.
She could have been half a world away before Lena replied with a whisper. “Please come back to me, Kara.”
Half a world or not, she knows Kara heard her.
For the mission, everyone is connected by comms, and Lena quickly realizes that even if she’s away from the battle, it’s just as frightening listening to sounds of explosions and screams while she can’t see what’s going on. Her nightmares start to play in her mind with each sound, even when she knows Kara is nowhere near the event. It continues like that for hours. It’s Superman’s scream that freezes her to her core. Lena is sitting, but she feels her knees buckle. A hand flies over her mouth to stifle the instant sob that rises to the surface. The others in the room are confused - they can’t recognize the specific meaning behind Superman’s cry. When he repeats the scream a second time, shouting Kara’s name brokenly, Lena collapses onto the floor. She uses one hand to try and pull herself up while the other is still failing to silence her sounds of despair. From the outside, Lena must have looked like a fallen, elderly lady trying to rise from the ground, her muscles no longer able to function normally.
Behind her are cries of her name, but Lena is grasping for walls, anything solid that can steady her. But nothing can. Kara is gone. And there is no universe Lena can save that will replace her.
As Superman continues to howl, Lena adds her own wail to the symphony.
Barry Allen is the second casualty in the battle, disappearing without a trace. Between the two loses, no one says a thing. Superman returns to Star Labs with Kara dangling limply in his arms, her head gravitating toward the floor. Lena leaves the room immediately. She tries to conjure up her last image of Kara laughing, but it molds with a fresh image of a lifeless body and closed eyes. The pain in her heart spreads with each beat until it feels like her toes are burning and her fingertips are sobbing. Unwilling to allow anyone to see her so broken, Lena stays isolated for hours, mourning alone. With each whimper comes another regret, another sharp stab of guilt as she thought of how she had treated the woman she loved in the past months. In this moment, she wishes she never knew Kara was Supergirl. Lena beats one fist against her skull. She wishes Kara wasn’t a self-sacrificing fool.
Lena beats the other fist. She should have been able to save her. Lena cradles her head in her hands, unable to do anything but surrender to her own thoughts as her tears create a pool between her knees. If she had the time, she’d create an ocean.
Even if her mind protests, her body eventually gets up on its own accord and steers itself toward Kara. It had happened so many times in the past. She would be knee-deep in a new project or have fifty emails to respond to, but suddenly she would think of Kara and travel to Catco or the loft and forget everything about her life for a single night because there’s was only one thing her mind and heart was concerned with. Even with the multiverse still in danger, her only thought was still Kara. She sees her body on the slab from the doorway. It paralyses her, and she doesn’t know how long she waits to step foot into the room. Eventually, one step at a time, she forces herself closer. In Lena’s simulations, she had never seen Kara’s body. Why would she? She wanted to excise emotions, not bring new ones to the fold. In her nightmares, it was the opposite. Her imagination would conjure the most horrific images possible - mostly excess blood, crooked limbs, and empty eyes. But lying on that slab, Kara looked so peaceful. Even her lifeless body was trying to tell Lena that she was content with her sacrifice. Lena tucked away a stray piece of hair that lay on Kara’s cheek. “All those times I tried to protect you, Kara, I was so afraid. So afraid of this.” Lena doesn’t move her hand away from Kara’s cheek. “No one ever befriended a Luthor and left unscathed. We only ever brought darkness and tragedy to the people in our lives. So when you came along and brought light and happiness, I was always afraid that the universe would try and maintain the balance. I thought I would be the reason something awful happened to you. But you saw the best in me, and what could I do but believe you?” A new wave of tears hit her like a tsunami. Lena looked to the ceiling, trying to fight gravity itself to stop them from falling. But it was no use, the droplets stained Kara’s suit, seeping into the material. “And then I found out you were Supergirl and I was so...so angry. I thought you kept your secret from me because you thought I’d bring darkness to your life too.” Lena brought her hand down from her cheek and traced the S on Kara’s chest delicately with her fingertip. “I thought you never believed in the things you said. And I hated you so much for making me fearful. Luthors don’t get scared, not about anything. But the truth is, whether you were a bumbling reporter or an invincible alien, I was always going to be scared for you. Because I realized the only reason Luthor’s don’t get scared is because they don’t…they don’t…” “You shouldn’t be here.” Alex’s voice is harsh behind her. It’s deep, unsteady, and almost unrecognizable. And yet, with the degree of pain laced in that tone, Lena knew it could be no one else. She turns around, not afraid of her emotions being on display for Alex. She anticipated they’d look about the same anyway. “I’m so sorry, Alex…” her apology goes unheard.
Alex marches forward into the light, eyes red and hot. “Because of you, I had to watch my sister live her final days in misery! She should have been laughing and singing and eating, and doing everything she couldn’t because you couldn’t see past her one mistake!” Lena gulped. She knew Alex needed an outlet. Luthors were masters at emotional suppression, but even her own boxes had begun to overflow, begging to burst. However, Lena was not the one who deserved that relief, however much it can bring. In some ways, Alex’s hatred is comforting. It wouldn’t be justice if the universe left her alone to hate herself. “Well, are you satisfied now, Lena? Is this karma for what she did to you?” Alex bellows. Lena can do nothing but grimace. She doesn’t look away. She doesn’t deserve to. Alex continues, but her voice drops threateningly low. “What right do you have to come in here and cry over my sister’s body? After what you’ve done?” “None.” Once again, Alex doesn’t acknowledge she spoke.
“If you think you can be here out of some misplaced respect for your history with her, you lying to yourself!” Lena nods. “I am a liar. You’re right. And a hypocrite.” Her voice suddenly wavered, the change as abrupt as a car in a collision. “I...I wanted her to believe I hated her when…”
She couldn’t finish the sentence. She just couldn’t. Her body crumbled.
Maybe it was the piece of Kara that had rubbed off on Alex, but for some reason, she feels the elder Danvers arms wrapping around her shoulder right at the moment Lena’s knees hit the ground. Alex doesn’t say a word - Lena suspects there is still too much fury stuck in her throat to offer any sort of verbal comfort. That was a reality they could both deal with while unable to face the rest of it. Together they weep, devoid of hope in the presence of the one woman who gave it to them both.
Thanks for reading! Not that confident about this one, but it ended up being a lot longer than I anticipated, so there’s one more part coming! Kara’s resurrection obviously included. That should be a little happier methinks. Final Part
