Never liked or cared for Claude, Karavan is underrated

You know I never understood the hype for Claude when I got interested in manhwa with my first introduction being Who Made Me A Princess. Even after reading the whole a few times I found nothing likeable about him. He wasn't a good parent to Athanasia despite the praise he's given and he generally sucks as a person. Hell I actually read a manhwa with a good dad who tried despite believing he couldn't be a good father to his daughter; Karavan Dionne Parjunel, the Southern Demon King from The Adventures of a Demon King's Daughter.

The next section will contain spoilers for those that hadn't read The Adventures of a Demon King's Daughter

Now Karavan or Kar is the father to Irene Neros Parjunel, the protagonist of the story. Now like Claude, Kar also tried to kill his newborn daughter because you guess it! His lover/wife also died because of their child but stopped himself before he actually did it realizing that this is his child. As years passed, Kar actually put in the effort to raising Irene with the help of his wife's old friends when he's ruling the southern demon kingdom. He learned how to hold a baby properly.

Later in season 1, episode 55, it's revealed that Kar actually did feel guilty for almost kill Irene when she was a baby to the point he didn't even believe could have a good father or husband because of him being a demon king. Even admits that even if he didn't kill her it doesn't change the fact that he attempted to.

This happened when Irene was eight. Kar was remorseful in his actions and put in the effort for his daughter. He lost his whole entire family before meeting his adopted father and his wife, fought his way to become a demon king, and lost his wife due to childbirth but whose events never made him a asshole and neglect or abandon Irene. He never black magic to forget his wife or Irene. He knew what he did was wrong and made up for it. HE was the one who built his relationship with Irene and not the other way around like Athanasia did.

What did Claude do in his relationship with Athanasia? Nothing he just sat and sent Athanasia gifts and always have athy come to him instead of visiting her himself. When we do see Athanasia and Claude act like father and daughter? The fact that Claude is praised and seen as a good dad doesn't sit well with me.

Screw Claude, both lp!Athanasia and Athy deserved a better dad and not just settle with what they have. This isn't healthy at all especially after Athy was an orphan before.

Kar is underrated and unappreciated.

For JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, my favorite underrated ship is Polnareff/Abdul, but it's not that underrated, just nowhere near as popular as Jotaro/Kakyoin. Kars/Esidisi doesn't get enough love either, but they should bc they ended their entire race and raised two kids together, that's good ship material right there.

For Kagurabachi, I don't know if it's underrated but Kunishige/Shiba has some angst to it, maybe a bit of a situationship deal. Also, Hiyuki/Tafuku has an interesting dynamic, but I think it's been overshadowed by Chihiro/Hiyuki.

For JJK, I would have said HaiNana but it seems like it's not as much of a rare pair as I thought, so I'll go with Sukuna/Uraume for a master/servant type of dynamic. Also Kochi/Miwa for lost love, and Mai/Takada as more of a crack ship because there's no way she didn't get a crush on her when she went to the convention.

Okay one more, Kusakabe/Higuruma, because of the whole "I'll jump in front of Sukuna for you" thing that happened in a while ago. What was so compelling about Higuruma that would make Kusakabe, someone who's been known to do the bare minimum and put his own protection before others, so that for him?

Look, I understand that bollywood actors not retiring is shitty, but please, for the love of god, don’t say that they can’t act/are overrated!

Like yeah they are shitty now, but how can you look at SRK saying “pal bhar mein paraya kar diya” in K3G , a scene where his acting legit stole the show from Amitabh-Fucking-Bachhan, and say he cannot act?

How do you look at Akshay Kumar in Bhool Bhulaiya, where he is periodically stealing glances at Vidya Balan to keep an eye on her while he locks Radha up, and say he cannot act when he gave away an important plot point so damn subtly that none of us realised?

How do you look at Aamir Khan in 3 Idiots, playing a clueless idiot, a motherfucking genius and a clown at the same time, pulling it all off with perfection, and think that he cannot act?!

Yes, the likes of Manoj Bajpayee, KK Menon, Nawaz, Pankaj Tripathee were underrated, and yes, most of the actors I mentioned are the ones who became stars during the mass Masala period where being an action hero was more important than knowing acting, but that doesn’t mean they can’t act. If anything, they have proved otherwise by adapting to the changing cinema when they transitioned from 90s to 00s, and pulling off the kind of acting they did.

I'm surprised, but not unpleasantly so, that Kars won the villain tourney.

Dio's usually the one talked about in this kind of context, so seeing a different villain come out on top is a pleasant surprise. It's a nice change of pace, you know?

I can already predict the winner of the JoJo tourney, but who knows? The voters may surprise me again!

Honestly what I figured out is that I never know what's going to happen I expect someone to win by a landslide and it's super close, I expect people to be unsure about something and it's not even a competition, you name it and it's happened ksksjikshkhsh

I honestly thought Battle Tendency was a bit too underrated for Kars to come out on top (innuendo intended) but I'm not too surprised, he is really hot even though i think i'm more of a Dio girlie myself

Karhin is so<3 also severely underrated and I must know more about him! I know he's a monk in regular au, but in modern, what do you think he does? I think you mentioned he never had kids (but adores all his nieces and nephews) but does he ever get married?

Hmmmm that's a good question! I think that in modern aus he'd be a social worker so he can help kids going through what he and Keyleth did as kids. You're right, he doesn't ever have kids, but I can see him getting married. Because all of my ocs are queer, I imagine that in canon au he gets married to a paladin (sparring is a love language) and he's a half-orc and just seems super scary but is actually a big softie. And I can't imagine Kar marrying anyone who doesn't adore his sister at least half as much as he does.

I love time travel movies, and I know the general popularity of hong kong movies that aren’t like wong kar wai or stephen chow don’t have a lot of international fame but we actually have one really good time travel movie. It’s called “second time around” with ekin cheng and cecilia cheung. It talks about ekin as a gambler who has a tumultuous journey with betting and he loses all his winnings at the casino, and through a series of events he manages to turn back time. he decides to take a different route but he has to bypass the him who is in the past, and like all time travel movies it’s hard to explain through text but the movie does a pretty good job in polishing and rounding out the finale. It’s one of hong kong’s most underrated movies in my opinion and jonathan ke, who is receiving a lot of attention for “everything, everywhere, all at once” plays a support character in this movie too. this movie is 22 years old, but it still holds up and as someone who indulges in time travel movies a lot this one is really good, and it’s one of those films that gets better the more you watch it. It mixes in romance, sci-fi and again, time travel very nicely without it being overly convoluted and boring. there’s a lot of GOOD hong kong movies that fly past the radar, and this one is definitely one of them.
