*Daniel’s pov*

“Let’s breakup” I nodded when I heard those words and forced a smile to Jieun. I walked away from her apartment slowly, with my head hung low. My tears flowed down slowly. I love Jieun, I don’t want to let her go. I’ve never loved someone so much. But if this is really what she wants, I can’t stop her either. Maybe letting her go is the best for me and her. Maybe we’re not meant to be, maybe this is how much fate we have. I reached home and started pouring my emotions out. It really hurts that I just lost someone I love. I looked at the pictures we took together before on my phone. I miss her smile, her hugs to me and everything else about her. I don’t know how I can live without her. I guess I’ll just let time heal.

*Jieun’s pov*

I just sat at my porch and cried. I cried like there was no tomorrow. I don’t want to let Daniel go but I have to. I have to leave for Australia in a few month’s time. Yes long distance relationships can work but I don’t trust it. I guess the best way right now is to let time heal everything. Once I leave, Daniel will not be that hurted anymore and soon he will accept that I’m no longer around and forget me. You decided to sleep and escape reality for a while since there is school tomorrow.

*The next day*

I woke up and did my usual routine. I was chilly again and I checked the weather forecast, temperatures going as low as 18°C. Oh wells, I’m just gonna wear a hoodie over. I walked to school as usual since there was still time and decided to drop by to the cafè nearby again. I went into the cafè and ordered my usual drink and a sandwich for me to eat on the way to school. I collected my order and decided to continue walking to school. As I was about to leave, I saw Daniel at the door. I didn’t know what to do and he just stared at me with those eyes I missed. After a few seconds, I snapped out of it and wanted to cross, saying “sorry” at the same time. He gave me space to cross and I continued my way to school.

When I reached school, I sat back my usual spot in the lecture hall. I took out my notebook and continued with my notes. Soon after, Daniel arrived as well along with the other students. The spaces were filled up such that Daniel ended up sitting beside me. I wanted to change my seat but it was too late as all the spaces were taken. Daniel did not say anything as well and took out his materials. The lecture started and I found it a little distracting as he was beside me. I couldn’t focus so I decided to go to the washroom. After I gained permission, I walked out of the hall slowly to the washroom. Telling myself to focus later on.

Suddenly, someone held my arm from the back and I stopped my tracks. I turned and look, it was Daniel. I asked him coldly, “What do you want? and let go of my hand” His eyes were the same as yesterday’s. He answered, “Why are you being so cold to me?”

“We’ve already broke up, what else more do you want from me?”

“I know we have broken up but can’t we at least be friends?”

“I have my own reasons for doing this so please stop disturbing me”

Daniel heard those words and let go of me and stood there while I went to the washroom. I entered the hall and went back to my seat, feeling awkward beside Daniel. I couldn’t believe I did this to him but I did not have any choice.

Timeskip

After lecture

I walked back home and found a mail in my letterbox. It was from Australia, from the company I am supposed to be going.

I read the letter as I walked into my apartment.

“Dear Jieun,

I’m sure you’ve accepted our offer to the company and aware that you’ll join us very soon ! I hope you are able to work for us as soon as you get your results and we will make necessary arrangements for you. You should join us latest by this June and I hope you’ll enjoy working here !

I sighed at that letter, I questioned myself. I questioned why did I accept this offer to go through such pain. I just wanted a relationship that can make me happy and last. I remember I did it for my parents, they worked so hard. I’d never forget that, but I wish I could repay them in some other ways and not give up on Daniel. However, I did not want to reject the job as it would give people an impression of not being responsible. I guess I would just have to live with this.

You know you must be crazy.  Only a crazy person would have a crush on one of their closest friends. Especially crazy since you know there’s no way in hell he would ever see you in that way. You aren’t even sure when this started.

Actually, that’s a lie, you know. It was only a few weeks ago this began, you’d be out in a group of your friends at a club. At first, you thought you must have just been wasted. It was the only logical explanation in your eyes. You didn’t even see Kang Daniel this way.

Definitely not, he was a sweet guy. Totally nerdy and friendly. He likes the same tv shows as you, even the same types of food. He shares your sense of humour and you were happy to meet a kindred spirit.  You tend to hang out with each other a few times a week, after work to unwind and socialise with little effort needed, because it was just Daniel.

You’d met him at a music concert a few years back when you were in college. He had recognised you and come up to talk excitedly about the coincidence that you were both here. You were embarrassed to find out you were in a history class with him, but he was impossible to forget from that day.

But at the club that night something was different about him, did he change his hair? Was it always that messy? Did it always hang over his eyes in that devastating way?

Even the way he danced was different. Had he always known how to move like that, there was a sharp fluidity to his moves. HOLY SHIT WHY WERE HIS HIPS DOING THAT. You promptly decided to end the night there and take your dumb, drunk ass home.

Unfortunately, it wasn't the effects of alcohol. You keep noticing more and more things about your handsome dorky friend. How solid he feels when he hugs you, the way you seem to like the way his body feels against yours. How he always smells like a combination of pine and fresh linen.

The last few weeks have been torturous, you don't want to ruin your friendship with these silly feelings. Daniel is the perfect friend, he's always there for you. He listens to you and even laughs at your dumb jokes. Crap, his laugh. His husky, infectious laugh, and the way his face crinkles up. He always ends up losing control of his body and swaying towards you to swat at your arm in outrage.

You exhale loudly to snap out of your thoughts and calm yourself.

"Are you spacing out?” Daniel asks waving a hand in front of your face, the oversized sleeves of his sweater hiding them within the soft fabric. Damn, that’s cute too.

"Sorry," you mumble lowly, suddenly feeling self-conscious and jumping off the couch "I'll grab the snacks and you set up the movie?"

Daniel nods enthusiastically with a creased eyed smile and you have to drag yourself to the kitchen to try and pull yourself together.

As you pour the popcorn into a bowl you mentally scold yourself. You are being ridiculous. You need to cut this out. What can you do to snap out of this?

You sigh, maybe it will be best to just pull away for a little bit, try and avoid the one on one meets for a little while until you can organise your feelings and get over this silly crush. Daniel's friendship means more to you than the impossible notion of something more. He's never done anything to indicate he's anything more than your friend so it's time to suck it up and move on.

Good pep talk you think to yourself and with a solid determination you grab two beers from the fridge, balance the popcorn bowl in the other hand and march back to the living room. You just have to get through this evening, you think to yourself. It's just a few hours and then you can start working on getting past this feeli...you drop the bowl.

Daniel is stood in the middle of your living room, his sweater is pulled up over his head and suddenly he's shirtless...in the middle of your living room, of your house. WHERE YOU LIVE.

You eyes rake over his bare torso before you can stop yourself, your breathing suddenly feeling strained. Did you just hear a wheeze escape your own mouth!?

You know he works out but you aren’t expecting this. How it was possible to get that ripped? Solid abs rippling up his body and the word chiselled coming to mind. Chiselled and carved by the gods. No. Carved by Satan, yes. This was unworldly and evil.

"Ah sorry, I was only trying to take my sweater off" Daniel chuckles, snapping your gaze back to his face. He reaches around to rub the back of his head bashfully but the muscles in his chest distract you again as they tighten and flex.

You. Need. To. Escape. This. Hell.

"I GET MORE POPCORN SINCE YOU...SINCE I TRIPPED!” you ramble over your shoulder as you dash back to the kitchen.

You open the freezer to stick your face inside in an attempt to cool your blushing cheeks. What in the hell was that back there? You probably shouldn't take too long since you're only supposed to be getting popcorn but how the hell are you going to face him and get through tonight.

God Dammit.

When you manage to pull yourself together and return to the room Daniel is sitting on the couch and thankfully with his t-shirt on. "What happened to the popcorn?" he asks innocently. That shit.

You toss a bag of chips at him to reduce the risk of physical contact and take your seat at the far end of the couch.

"I didn't have any left, lets justs start the movie' you sigh, feigning calmness. Daniel oblivious as ever simply nods and presses play on the remote.

You try to sink back into a semi-state of relaxation as you watch the movie. Daniel is stuffing chips into his mouth and yelling at the TV next to you and as the distraction of the movie occupies your mind you feel hope that you can actually survive the evening. You shift to try and get more comfortable, pulling your legs up to tuck them beside you as you rest your elbow and side of your face on the armrest.

"Oh, you should rest your legs here if you aren't comfy" a deep voice, closer than you remember is whispering next to you.

You look over at him and he's leaning in your direction and gesturing towards his lap. You swallow painfully in dread and shake your head insisting your fine but Daniel doesn't listen to your quiet protests and is already putting down the bag of chips onto the coffee table.

He brushes the crumbs off of his legs in preparation and now you're painfully aware of the overly ripped jeans he's wearing tonight and how thick his glorious thighs look straining against the material.

This is a terrible idea. You're about to sit upright but Daniel is already reaching for your legs and draping them over his lap before you can force another word out. Well now if you move it'll look even weirder so you resign yourself to your fate and flop back against the couch to stare at the TV.

You’re trying to ignore the burning sensation of Daniels' hands resting on your knees.

‘Just stare at the movie’ you chant to yourself internally. Watch the movie. When it ends you can say your tired and he'll leave. There's just under an hour to go and You. Can. Do. This.

"Hey Y/N? Can we talk for a sec?"

SHIT - you almost groan out loud but remember Daniel has no idea of your inner turmoil because at the end of the day you're still his friend and this is what friends do; talk about stuff.

"Sure, whats up?" you ask, sitting upright to give him your full attention. You cock your head questioningly when you notice he’s looking slightly worried. "Actually, let me pause this quick" You add.

You start to look around for the remote. Daniel just nods and fiddles with the hem of his shirt, gaze to the floor. Something must be bothering him and you feel your heart soften.

You finally spot the remote on the other side of Daniel and shuffle your legs off his lap to sit back on your knees, allowing you to reach over him to retrieve it. He looks up just as you begin to lean in to reach over. Your previous worries of the night out of your mind replaced with concern for your friend.

“I think, somehow, I always knew it would end like this" Daniel softly whispers.

"Huh?" you grunt as you stretch your arm past his chest, the remote a few inches from your grasp.

Then the room slows to a halt when you meet his eyes.

Every breath of air expels from your lungs in one surprised gasp as Daniel reaches out to cup your cheek with one hand and wrap the other around your waist pulling your bodies closer.

His face is on a collision course with yours and you are FREAKING OUT. But you can't seem to gain any control over your body. That or your body is ignoring your mind and it's logic. All you know is that you're seconds away from kissing Daniel. Shit No. Kang Daniel is going to kiss YOU.

Before your able to panic any further his lips are pressing against yours and the world is speeding up again. You feel? Like your entire body has been set alight. You used to make fun of your friends for believing in kisses that bring fireworks and seeking that spark with a person. You didn't think something like that existed, not until right this second.

It literally feels like electricity crackling through your veins and jolting you awake. Your arms wrap around his neck on instinct, your lips mirroring his. His lips taste sweet which is strange because he’s been inhaling nacho cheese Doritos all night but you don't question it further.

Daniel is controlling the kiss, it's intense yet soft and the way his firm but soft lips are moving against yours carefully has your head spinning. You’re flush against his chest and you can feel every muscle you'd just seen bare, the image alone is making you feel giddy.

He ends the kiss, pulling away enough to separate your lips but leaving your foreheads connected. You’re still feeling winded and release a shuddering breath.

“What was that...” you gasp.

Daniel is still holding you in a vice grip against his chest, he looks up at you with wide eyes and starts to stutter.

“I thought...but you? And then I just...and then we, but I was going to confess?”

Now you’re really confused.

“I was getting the remote…” you blurt out flusteredly, words spilling out before your brain can catch up.

“Oh…” your heart suddenly drops at his voices deflating, “...so you had no idea what I was going to say?” Daniel mutters almost inaudibly, but you hear his disappointment.

Why did you have to open your dumb mouth and tell him you didn’t know he was going to kiss you, it's not like you didn’t want him to or that your bodies melting together didn’t feel like two jigsaw pieces connecting.

It's not like kissing him didn't feel like the most natural thing in the world.

“Wait...that’s not what I mean” you backtrack, feeling his grip on your waist loosening and panic building within as you realise that you’ve fucked this all up.

“Your face on mine was..uh, very unexpected but not, uh...not bad. I guess”

You cringe at your own words, eyes squeezing shut and feeling your cheeks blushing as the words trip out of your mouth. Really!? Now is the time for you to get super shy and awkward!?

Daniel bursts into soft laughter.

“Not bad!” He tickles your side causing you to squirm “I’m putting my feelings on the line here and all you can say is 'not bad'” he’s scolding you but you can hear the teasing in his voice.

You open one eye first and are met with crinkled eyes and a soft smile. His honey eyes glint in the light as he watches you, cheeks tinged a slight shade of pink.

“You’re confessing what exactly?” you mumble, averting your eyes. You still worry that he might reject you despite all that's happened.

Daniel scoffs at you, cupping your chin softly to draw your gaze back to his.

“I thought it was obvious when I kissed you. I’m trying to say I like you, idiot.” Hearing the words (and insult) directly from his mouth sends warm tingles over your body.

“I’ve been trying to confess for while actually but I was sure you just saw me as your dumb friend”

Your mouth falls open. Partly in shock and partly feeling ridiculous for being too chickenshit to say something until now.

“I do think you’re dumb,” you agree, holding back your giggle as his face scrunches into a pout “But I also know that I’m the dumbest for not admitting that I’ve had a crush you for weeks”

“Weeks?” Daniel gasps “But I’ve liked you for months, so I guess I’m the biggest idiot”

“Wow, is this our first argument” you sigh rolling your eyes at him, but your cheeks ache from the stupid grin that’s been stuck on your face ever since he confessed.

“I guess you’re my idiot now”.

Pt. 3

You stand in front of the mirror and pace back and forth in your bra und underwear. Somehow you are worried about what to wear because 1. It is not really a business meeting and 2. Is it really a date? Low key you want it to be but it might get in the way of working with Daniel on the music video and you don’t want to wreck this amazing chance you got. You try on a cute and casual floral dress and say nah, you go for some cool street wear but that is also not your cup of tea. You end up with regular blue jeans and a white shirt but don’t button it all the way up. You layer on an assortment of necklaces you got from friends as your last birthday present. Not too much cleavage right? No should be fine, only two buttons down. This kind of overthinking makes you crazy and wobbly.

As you arrive to the Chinese restaurant 10 minutes before 8.30pm that has private rooms to eat in, you give your name to the waiter and he responds with: “Oh yes your plus one is already here.” You squeal internally since you had hoped to be there before him. You walk into the door and see Daniel standing up as he sees you and giving you a bright smile. Oh god, he’s so adorable and you basically melt internally once again (girl you aren’t a candle…).

“Hey x/y-ah! You are early too!” He walk over to your chair on the other side and pulls it out. Your heart starts bumping slightly crazier due to his gentleman action while you are sitting down.

You suggest to order since it’s late and it is high time to eat for the both of you. And also to avoid any longer awkward conversations just in case.

“What do you want to eat? I can go with anything besides crustaceous seafood. I am sort of allergic to it.” Says Daniel. In your head you are very much aware of that fact and hold back to say I know since it does feel like you know a wee bit too much about him one-sidedly.

“You go for whatever you want. The check is on me. I’ll take something light because it is so late.”

“Do you want to share something? I will adapt to your liking” and gives you a slight wink. You catch him right away doing that and just stare straight down the menu to avoid any eye contact.

“I’ll take some jjajangmyun noodles and a coleslaw salad. (note: black bean sauce noodles -  if you’ve watched *It’s dangerous outside the blanket* you might know that he likes these kind of instant noodles. Cough *pepper accident*)

“Make it two. Seems like we have similar taste” and grins widely. You try to keep a straight face but it isn’t really working out well for you, you can feel it. You sigh and smile at the same time and Daniel catches that.

“What is funny?” makes a slight puppy face.

“N-n-othing… haha… well you are just… uhm very uhm… funny?” mumbling down the last words.

“Wow, I am sorry if I made you flustered or uncomfortable. You seemed always so professional and smooth while you talked so I thought I can talk more easy-going. You know just like friends talk to each other…”

“Well we aren’t actually friends… we barely know each other on a personal level. But this is the industry we are in right?”

“I guess. I’ve heard a lot of good things about you though.”

“Me? From whom?” you are confused.

“Haha I am not supposed to tell you. But I guess, it was Ji Sung Hyung. He always talked so enthusiastically about you how funny and cool you are. All the amazing work you do and also how you just communicate well with everyone around you while you work and also during breaks and stuff. You create a nice working environment. And I felt that too during the short times we met. I could feel it from around.”

Now you definitely are red. You did not expect Daniel to make you like 1000 compliments in under one minute. And god damn you, Ji Sung! How dare he. It felt like he was playing fairy god mother (Wanna One momma since day 1).

“Oh wow. I didn’t know that he thinks like that about me and funny to hear it from someone completely else lol. Anyways you mentioned work. Perfect, tell me about what kind of ideas you have in mind, I am all ears!” and you switch topic because you feel insecure about what you have to say any further about this topic.

“Can we not talked about work?”

You were just taking a sip of your water when you hear that question and choke on it.

“Cough-cough-cough… W-w-w-hat? Whhhhy not?”

„Oh sorry are you ok?” says Daniel surprised himself and hands you a napkin.

“Yeah sorry I am fine. Clumsy me.”

“Haha x/y you are full of surprises. Already the second time coughing on a drink.” Daniel finds it very amusing and can’t stop laughing about the same situation that had happened on the phone last time. “How about we also order some beer, I like drinking with friends.”

Confused, you just nod. So we are friends now… okay I guess that’s fair. (gurl go hide your disappointment elsewhere)  The evening goes down sort of smoothly than expected and the beer helped a lot. Daniel and you just talked about random stuff and you did end up getting along quite well, finding a lot of common interests. All though you were supposed to talk about work you just exchanged some short ideas but the conversation leaped over to other things quickly. And so the dinner was over faster than expected and it was time to part.

You payed the check even though Daniel insisted. You joked slightly that it was a business dinner technically but a special one since you’d become sort of friends by now. Your guard was all the way down when exiting the restaurant that you had totally forgotten that Daniel is Nation-wide number one idol even if a while ago. A flock of fan girls were waiting around the corner of the restaurant with huge camera and the aura was not pleasant.

Daniel hisses out a “shit” and tried to hide his face last minute with his cap but the fans are fast and they start running towards you two. You have no time to process the situation on and suddenly feel Daniel grabbing your hand and pulling yourself after him. You guys start running down the street. The chase gets intense as the flock of girls start squealing around and keep demanding to let that hand of Daniel go.

You try to think efficiently and the only thing that pops in mind is to take a cab separately. “Daniel, go to the left down the street, there is a bunch of taxis there. Hop into one without me, I will take a separate one and get away as fast as possible man!” you yell at him while huffing from running a half marathon from these fans.

Daniel just sqeezes your hand tighter and gives you thumbs up not being able to turn around from running. He got it, you were glad.

You guys approach the taxi station in quick speed, behind you still an ever following group of angry fan girls…

You woke up and your head hurts. It hurt from all the crying last night. You looked around and realised you're still in Changkyun's house. You walked out to the living room and saw Changkyun cooking in the kitchen. He saw you and said, "Oh Jieun-ah, you're awake. Wait for a while okay, breakfast will be ready soon!" You replied back,"Alright, I'll go wash up first"

After you washed up, Changkyun was already laying the table. You sat down with Changkyun and started eating. You checked your phone and realised it was going to be 10am. There were also many texts unread since last night. You opened your messages and saw one of the chats unread from Daniel. You previewed the message but decided not to open it as you didn't know what to reply him either. Changkyun saw you looking troubled but decided not to ask.

"Hey, I'll be going back after this"

"Sure, it was great catching up with you"

"Yea thank you for listening to me last night as well"

"Ani there's no need to thank me, I'm your best friend after all"

Both of you laughed and continued eating. After you have finished, you helped Changkyun wash the dishes and you packed your things. Before leaving, Changkyun suddenly held onto your hand and said, "Hey Jieun, if you ever need someone to talk to or anything just call me and find me alright?" You nodded your head and pat his shoulder.

You took a taxi home and you saw Daniel outside your house, sitting by the stairs and using his phone casually. You missed him so much. He looked up and saw you and immediately stood up. You paused your steps when you're in front of him. Both of you looked at each other for a few seconds. Neither of you speaked any word. He looked so drained out of energy. He embraced you tightly and said, "Jieun-ah, where have you been? Why are you ignoring me? I missed you so much you know, I was so worried when I couldn't find you this morning" You didn't hug him back and said, "Let's break up"

You said those words with no emotion at all. Daniel released you and looked at you with dreading eyes. "Why Jieun? What's wrong? I'm sorry if I did anything wrong but can you please forgive me?" You shook your head and replied, "It's not because of you Daniel, it's just my fault. Let's just break up" Upon hearing those words, Daniel nodded his head and tried to smile, hiding his pain which you knew he was experiencing. He walked away slowly with his head down. You stood there and watch him walk away, your tears slowly flow down your face.

"Sorry Daniel", you whispered to yourself, knowing he can't hear you.

A/N : Hi guysss , I’m so sorry for this really short chapter and being on hiatus for almost a month as I was busy. I’ll try to update more often now !!

Jieun’s pov

I saw the address Changkyun sent to me. It was quite a distance from my house so I decided to take a taxi. I showed the driver the address and he start to head towards the destination. I was wondering why did Changkyun ask me out at night, like it wasn’t usual of him. But anyways, it’s been really long since I had a chat with him…this would be a great time.

I reached my destination after a while and it was outside a two-storey bungalow. I paid the driver and stepped out and awed in envy. I ringed the doorbell and a maid came out. She greeted me and welcomed me in. I guess Changkyun must have told her that someone was coming? The interior was well designed, Changkyun has a great flair in designing no doubt. He came out from the kitchen and seemed surprised I was already here. 

“Hey Changkyun, looks like you’ve been living a great life huh”

“Ani, these are all still paid by my parents. It was because I topped our cohort last year after you left so they gave me this as a reward. Anyways, I got a scholarship to study here from next year onward”

“Wow, that’s great” I thought about next year how I will be leaving again. Away from Changkyun, and Daniel. I decided not to think to much about it in case Changkyun suspects something.

“Anyway, why did you call me here?”

“Ah…I just wanted to catch up with my old friend, can’t I?” and he gave me the sweet smile just like in the past. aish, this guy has still been the same.

Third person pov

Both of you decided to watch a movie together and talk as well. Both of you watch Annabelle although you were actually afraid. You held onto Changkyun whenever both of you watched horror movies as he was like a brother to you. Although he always laugh at you for being scared, he still protects you no matter what.

After watching the movie, both of you just talked about your lives and catched up with each other. He suddenly asked about how’s you and Daniel. Your heart sunk and your happy expression changed.

“Hey Jieun, what’s wrong?”

You felt that you should tell Changkyun, you’re going to leave in a few months and at least someone you trust should know about it. You told Changkyun everything,

“Actually I’m leaving in a few months time for Australia. A company there wants to have me as their employee next year after they have seen my results. Moreover, my mum has persuaded me to go as the salary is good too. You know how hard my parents work, I want them to rest earlier and have a good life too. I didn’t tell Daniel about this because I don’t want him to be worried about me. I started to be cold towards him, hopefully he might ignore me soon…”

Changkyun saw that there were tears in your eyes. He put his arms around you and comforted you. You cried in his arms because you could finally let out all these feelings inside you. You couldn’t bear to leave Daniel yet you couldn’t tell anyone until now.

You fell asleep after crying, Changkyun carried you to the guest room and tucked you into the bed.

Changkyun’s pov

Aish, Jieun ah, what happened to you? I’ve only got to see you in such a long time and yet you’re leaving so soon again. I hope you will be happy just like how you used to be. Goodnight.

7am

You woke up to the sound of the alarm, waking you up for school. You did the usual morning routine and decided to cook something for yourself this morning since you had time. You made some scrambled eggs and pancakes with honey syrup. You did not want to think of Daniel as it makes your heart hurt thinking you have to leave him. You’ve decided to leave after your exams because of your parents. Your parents have been working hard for you and you guess this is only way you can give back to them. What’s more, you can’t promise them you can earn as much if you find your own job. You just want to let them retire soon so that they can enjoy a good life.

After finishing your breakfast, you got changed and wore a simple outfit. You decided to wear black leggings and an oversized white tshirt. You put on some light makeup as you look a bit pale from yesterday’s crying. You headed out and went to school on your own. The walk to school was different as compared to other days. You just listened to soft music while walking on the peaceful street of your neighbourhood. However, you did not know Daniel was behind you.

Daniel’s pov

Why didn’t Jieun tell me she’s heading out to school already? Did she forget about me? Why do I feel that she is lying about what she said yesterday and its because of something else that made her cry. Aish, I’ll just follow her to make sure she’s fine.

You walked for a while and suddenly thought of Daniel. You forgot about Daniel all these while. You thought to yourself, “Should I text him? Or just wait till I reach school since we’ll see each other anyways” You picked up your phone, typing a message to Daniel. However, you didn’t know why but you backspaced everything you typed and decided to continue walking.

Daniel saw you taking out your phone to type something but she did not send it. He wondered why you did not want to text him. He decided to send a message first, asking you why you did not wait for him to go to school.

Daniel : Hey, why didn’t you wait for me to go to school today? I knocked on your door but nobody opened it

She picked up her phone and read the message. She stared at the message for a while. Typing a few times before sending.

Jieun : Sorry, I forgot about you. We’ll see in school okay?

Daniel : Alright my baby, see you!

You saw the message but you didn’t reply.

Daniel was behind you and he was puzzled and confused but he thought that maybe you just wanted some alone time, so he did not want disturb you.

You reached school earlier and head towards the lecture room. You found a table at the back for two and sat down, the other seat for Daniel. There was still some time left as you were early and you were feeling super tired. You put your head down to sleep for a while.

Daniel’s pov

Hmm where’s Jieun, she must be in the lecture room already. I went into the lecture room and saw Jieun sleeping. I decided to not make any noise and sit down beside her. She was sleeping peacefully and I couldn’t help it but to stare at her features. I made her cry yesterday…why do I deserve her, she’s so perfect. I brushed her hair which was covering her face and kissed her forehead. No one was looking too, even if there was, it doesn’t really matter.

Jieun’s pov

I felt someone’s hand brushed my hair and kissed mt forehead. I knew it was Daniel but I did not want to let him know that I’ve woken up. I was still tired and just wanted to continue sleeping. I grabbed Daniel’s hand and put it under my arm, and my hand interlocking with his. He immediately moved closer and whispered, “Hey you’ve woken up?” You nodded your head and continued to sleep.

After a while, you got woken up to Daniel’s voice, “Yah, the lecturer is here” You immediately woke up and tidied your hair. It was such a good sleep, you thought to yourself. The lecturer started saying his usual stuff and Daniel was getting bored soon as usual. You don’t understand why he is not worried for the upcoming final exams. You continued to take down your notes, deciding that when you study with Daniel you’d share it with him.

The lecture ended and both of you decided to go and grab lunch. You did not talk, neither did Daniel. You did not have the mood to say anything today as well. You headed home after lunch and Daniel did so too.

You plopped onto the sofa and your eyes slowly closed. Suddenly, you heard a ring from your phone. You looked at the caller ID, “Im Changkyun” You wondered why he was calling you.

“Annyeong”

“Hey Jieun, are you free tonight?”

“Why?”

“I want to meet my best friend since we haven’t talked so long”

“Ah sure, what time and where?”

“My place? At 7? I’ll send you my address”

“Alright”

A/N: Hey guys I’m back!! I’ve ended my exams so I’m able to write a new chapter today. It’s been long since I updated I’m so sorry! But I chose to end the previous chapter there as it would be a cliffhanger :) I hope you all looked forward to this chapter and please do give me feedback so that I can improve my writing.

You walked downstairs and saw Daniel and thought what your mum said to you. Daniel saw you and his face immediately lit up. You asked yourself how can you live without him. You’d never want to have anyone else other than Daniel, he meant everything to you now and you can’t just let him go that easily. You embraced him as if it was going to be the last time you’re going to see him. He sensed that something was wrong and he asked you, “Hey, what’s wrong? We didn’t see each other for just 10 minutes and you’re missing me so much already?” “Ani, can’t I hug you?” “Yes of course my baby, I’m yours already” You looked at him in the eyes and stared at him for a really long time. You tilted your head to the right and he did so too. You found it so cute when he did this and you squeezed his cheeks. “Daniel, can we go out to the cafe later? I want to finish an assignment but I don’t think I can focus at home with you playing around, I also want to grab some coffee” “Anything for you baby”

After eating breakfast, both of you headed out. It was cold again so you decided to wear the hoodie Daniel gave you. You wore a white top and black jeggings. Daniel coincidentally wore the same as you. You laughed at how both of you had the same taste. He held your hand and led you out of the house onto the pavement.

You enjoyed the walk as usual and the thought that you had to leave next year bothered you and it was consistently on the back of your mind. You have no idea how you want to tell Daniel but what you planned so far is just to enjoy your time with him as much as you can. Your thoughts must have showed on your face making you seem bothered that Daniel suddenly asked you if anything was wrong. You shook your head, shaking it off by saying it was just because of the exams that are coming up. It is already nearing the end of the year which means you only have a few months left with him.

Without knowing how long you’ve walked, you realised that you were at the park instead of the cafe. You gave Daniel a puzzled look, wondering why he brought you here.

Daniel’s pov

What’s wrong with Jieun? Why is she so puzzled, I know it’s not because of exams. I’m not even that worried why is she when she gets better results than me all the time. She knows she do not need to worry about it…what is making her so bothered. Its making me so bothered too…maybe I should bring her somewhere to talk.

Daniel let go of your hand and finally spoke,

“Jieun…can I know what’s bothering you?”

“Ani…it’s really just exams”

“I know you’re lying, why can you just tell me what’s on your mind? Do you not trust me by now?”

“Fine, what if one day I leave this place? What will you do”

“Then why are you even leaving”

“I’m just thinking”

“I will wait for you to come back to me. Even if you don’t, I believe fate will still make us meet again and be together again, just like how we met”

“You will? But what if I don’t ever come back and we don’t ever meet again”

“Then I’ll find you, no matter what”

You were already in tears having the conversation and hearing what Daniel has said. You hugged him and sobbed in his arms. You are crying because you never knew that Daniel would wait for you or find you when you are going soon. You can’t bear to break the news to him. You want him to be with you forever but you know you can’t be so selfish at this point of time. Both of you just sat at the park and you fell asleep in Daniel’s arms around you.

Daniel’s pov

Aish she’s asleep. If only she knows how much she mean to me. Why did she think of such thoughts of her leaving and what would I do. I would of course do everything to make her stay unless she really has to go. Even if she does I will follow her. I will find her even if it takes me years. Why can’t she tell me what’s wrong. I said this to her, even though she is sleeping I will still say it,

“Jieun, I hope that you know I can always be here for you no matter what happens. I really love you more than I did to anyone else in this world. In fact, you’re actually my first girlfriend and I don’t want to lose you. You may have thought that because of my looks many girls have come to me and asked me for a relationship. Yes that’s true but I don’t accept them. Because all they want is just my looks and the status. Not because they love me. But I know you’re different which is why I decided to woo you. Now that I’ve got you, I hope that you will never ever leave me. Lee Jieun, I love you and remember that I always will”

What Daniel didn’t know was that you are actually awake when he said all those words. You were awake the moment he said your name, but you did not want to move as you were curious of what he wanted to say. You listened to what he said, you felt sorry that you’re not able to be with him. You felt touched knowing how much he really loved you. After he had finished, you felt tears filling your eyes and you decided to pretend to yawn, waking up. Daniel smiled at you and said, “Hey, you’re finally awake. Did you know how long you slept?”

“Ani, was it very long?”

“Yes, and do you still want to go to the cafe?”

You looked at your phone for the time and you realised it was only 12pm. You stared and him and said, “Ya, I didn’t even sleep that long…and yes I still want to go to the cafe”

“Alright, let’s go then”

You felt more relaxed now and you did your work at the cafe with focus. Daniel just watched you and ate his cake, occasionally feeding you some. He also took pictures of you secretly, due to the fact you were so focused and he couldn’t help but to take a few.

By the time you finished your work, the sun was already setting. You finally looked up and saw Daniel, putting his elbow on the table and the other hand supporting his face, staring at you. You pinched his cheeks playfully and smiled. Your stomach started growling so you asked Daniel, “Let’s grab some dinner shall we?” “Alright, but can I bring you to a restaurant nearby here?” “Anything you like”

Both of you went to this restaurant selling western food. The place was well-decorated and you actually did not know that this place even existed. Daniel just moved here 2 months ago and yet he knows about this place. Omai, what have you been doing. You ordered a plate of fish and chips and Daniel ordered steak. The food was delicious and decided to come here again some time. Daniel was glad that you’re happy and contented.

After Daniel paid, both of walked towards your apartments. Daniel suddenly received a message which said that he has some mail that he has yet to receive and he has to collect it from his mailbox. Both of you decided to spend the night yourselves and meet tomorrow since there was school. He gave you a peck on your lips but you wanted more. You kissed him for quite some time until you needed to catch your breath. You hugged him telling him, “I love you Daniel, goodnight” “I love you too my baby, goodnight to you too”

Both of parted ways and headed back to each of your apartments. When you reached home, you washed up and called your mum.

“Hey Jieun, how’s your day?”

“Oh it’s fine! Have you eaten?”

“Yes of course. By the way, how’s your decision going? You still have one more week to decide”

“I think I’ll go and work there, I will tell you my decision a few days later”

“Alright, make it quick”

“Goodnight mom”

“Goodnight darling”

You lied on your bed, still contemplating whether you should you go or stay. Part of you was afraid that the relationship you’re having now is just puppy love and not anything else. You will still unsure where this would go. You don’t know if you will still like that job after some time. You were just weren’t sure at this point of time.

You and Daniel headed out to grab some dinner since it was evening. Both of you headed to the mall since the cafe was closed that day. He interlocked his hand with yours as usual and it was chilly. You did not say anything and just enjoyed the walk with him. You just needed his presence without him even saying anything. You feel blessed after having him and you have no idea how many times you said or thought of that. Daniel suddenly spoke, “Hey, what you do want to eat?” Honestly, you didn’t mind having anything for dinner as long as its with Daniel. “Anything you like then” “Let’s go eat kbbq” “Yay, I love kbbq”

Both of you went to the place and got allocated to your seats in a short while. When you sat down, you looked around and saw your friend from middle school, Changkyun. Suddenly, you felt a vibration from your phone and saw a text.

Changkyun: Hey, didn’t expect to see you here

Jieun: Same here, its been long since we last saw each other after we graduated from middle school.

After you sent the text you saw Changkyun walking towards your table and Daniel turned around and saw him too.

“Hey, nice to see you here Jieun”

“It’s nice to see you here too?”

“Who are you with?”

“Oh, let me introduce to you. This is Daniel, my boyfriend”

Daniel reached his hand out to shake hands with Changkyun and smiled at him, he did so in return. Daniel introduced himself properly and Changkyun did so too as well. After which, he left politely to return to his table and not disturb you guys any further.

You looked at Daniel and he said, “Hey, you’ve got a nice friend there” You didn’t understand what he meant so you gave him a puzzled look. He spoke up again, “I mean he’s really nice” You laughed and relaxed as you thought what Daniel wanted to say. Both of you took the food that you wanted and barbecued it on the metal cooker(I don’t rmb what is it called omo im sorry). You watched Daniel eat and how he can still be so cute. He caught you staring and poke your face with his fingers and you blushed looking down. Both of you continued to finish your food and leave. You bought an iced americano on the way back and shared it with Daniel. Instead of going home, Daniel brought you to the park. Both of sat down at the same place and looked at the stars. The picture was so beautiful and you wished it was a painting so that you could stare at it whenever you liked. Daniel finally spoke up and said, “Hey baby, I want to tell you something” “Well, what is it?” “I want to tell you that I really love you and I will never want you to leave me.” “I love you too…but why are you suddenly telling me such things?” “Why? I can’t say sweet things to you? If that’s the case I won’t say such things anymore” and he looked away and just smiled at himself.

“Aniii that’s not what I meant…I would definitely want to say such things to me but I know it in my heart already” He took your hand and placed the back of it onto his lips but did not say anything, you lied on his shoulder and just stared at the night sky. You enjoyed every moment of your life after getting together with Daniel and you don’t know who else can give you such joy. It was getting late soon and both of you decided to head home. Daniel decided to go back to his home tomorrow morning so that he can get ready for school.

When both of you reached home, both of you washed up and cuddled on bed again just like the night before. DAniel caressed your hair and stared into your eyes. You stared back at his and both of you just remained the same way for a long time. Both of you didn’t say anything and he suddenly kissed you again. You reacted to his lips and both lips moved in sync. You was surprised that he deepen the kiss as he usually only go for light kisses. After he pulled away, he held you close and you wondered why he was suddenly like this. He just stared at you with those loving eyes and you got lost in his mesmerizing eyes. Soon after, you got tired and said goodnight to Daniel and Daniel did so too as well. He offed the lights and held your waist pulling you close to sleep. You fell asleep in his warmth and inhaled his scent.

6am

You woke up to something touching your face, and when you opened your eyes, you realised it was Daniel staring at you and his hand cupped onto your cheeks. You smiled at Daniel and said good morning. He kissed your forehead in return. He told you that he’d be preparing breakfast and you can go and wash up so that once you’re done you can eat already. You smiled and nodded at him like an idiot knowing how sweet he is to you. After he left the room, you received a message on your phone from your mother.

Mom: Hey sweetie, how’s life right now?

Jieun: Hey mom, everything has been doing great! ( Of course, there’s Daniel)

Mom: I found a company for you recently and it is going to help you in the course you are taking right now. After the company saw your reports, they want you to work there after you graduate. I’ll send you the details of the company and I hope that you will come here and work as you know it has not been easy for me and dad these past few years. Moreover, the salary they are offering is really high too.Take your time to consider this as this is a really once in a lifetime opportunity…”

You read the message and thought, “If I am going to leave, what will happen to Daniel…We just got together and now mom is telling me that I have to leave him by the end of the year, I just settled down and she wants me to go back and work there” However, you knew that your mom and dad has been working really hard these past few years for your education and you are really grateful of them. You knew you had to payback to them as they raised you well but you did not want to leave Daniel. You checked the website of the company your mum sent you and you immediately couldn’t believe yourself that they want you to work in their company. The company is one of the most superior companies in the chemist industries, only top scholars are eligible to work there. You felt frustrated as it is your dream and interest to work in such a company, however, you thought about Daniel at the same time. You washed up and stared at the mirror at yourself, wondering what you are going to do next.
