With narrowed eyes, I leaned against one of the lockers while my friends, Yeji and Jimin, were busy talking to each other. Apparently, they were arguing about a particular cheerleader named Ryujin. I took a deep breath as I felt this conversation slowly but surely getting on my nerves, but I said nothing.

Ryujin had apparently slept with both of them at a party before, of course separately. Now my best friends were arguing, but fortunately, it remained quite civil. "How about Minjeong? Didn't you just have a crush on her recently?" Yeji asked, which only made Jimin roll her eyes.

"What about you? I thought you had something going on with Chaeryeong?" Jimin asked, looking at Yeji with raised eyebrows. Sighing, they both looked at me, arms crossed over their chests. "What do you think? Who suits Ryujin better?" Jimin asked.

My eyes first wandered to Jimin and then to Yeji before I shrugged disinterestedly. "Neither of you," I simply replied, which neither of them liked. Immediately, I heard protests from both of them, so I sighed. "How about finding someone who actually likes you?" I asked, probably a bit too casually, causing them both to roll their eyes simultaneously.

"God. You're such a romantic," Jimin huffed. "Who needs romance when you look this good?" Yeji asked, tossing her hair back with a grin and looking at me with a smile. Jimin laughed in agreement before looking at me. "What about you? You never sleep with anyone," Jimin asked curiously.

Yeji nodded curiously. "Yeah. Don't tell me you're still a virgin!" she gasped, studying my face for a reaction. I frowned at her in disbelief. "Just because I don't sleep with everyone doesn't mean I'm still a virgin," I replied, rolling my eyes, which made Jimin laugh again.

My eyes wandered back over the school corridor as I noticed Jimin, my basketball captain, talking about the next game. Yeji, the vice-captain, listened attentively while I continued looking for a particular person.

There she was. Kang Haerin, the school president and my secret girlfriend. She seemed to be listening intently to one of her four friends.

Personally, Danielle was the worst. The person who seemed nice on the outside with a pretty sweet and friendly smile until she eventually stabbed you in the back.

I saw Haerin's gaze wander until her eyes met mine. A small, barely noticeable smile formed on my face as I briefly gestured with my head to one of the empty classrooms. Haerin's right eyebrow twitched, and she immediately looked back at her friends, who were upset about something or, more likely, someone.

I turned back to Yeji and Jimin as I pushed myself off the lockers. "See you later. I really can't listen to your chatter anymore," I said simply and made my way to the classroom I had pointed out earlier.

My hands on her hips pulled her closer to me. Haerin grinned. "Is this why you called me here?" she asked as my lips wandered along her jawline. My nails dug into her skin as I inhaled deeply through my nose. I didn't answer, letting my lips continue their journey across her jaw.

"What's wrong, baby?" Haerin asked, holding my face in her hands, preventing me from continuing to seduce her. I sighed, leaning further against the school desk Haerin had me pressed against. I looked into my beautiful girlfriend's eyes and started to smile a bit.

"Nothing. I just want to kiss you," I replied calmly, but Haerin didn't seem to believe a word. Her eyebrows raised. "Y/n, what's going on?" she asked more seriously, making me sigh again. My hands on her hips loosened as I moved my head, causing her to release my face. "I'm just fed up," I admitted, making Haerin take a small step back. Her eyes narrowed.

"Can't we just tell everyone?" I asked quietly, seeing Haerin gradually grasp the topic. Haerin shook her head. "No," she replied, and I looked at her in disbelief.

"At first, the secrecy was sexy," I began, crossing my arms over my chest. "But now I've had enough. I'm tired of making up excuses for why I'm not sleeping with others or why I get angry when I see how they look at you or talk about you," I said seriously, my eyes narrowing as well.

Haerin looked at me. She just looked at me, which probably meant she was choosing her words carefully. I sighed and pushed myself away from the desk. My arms fell to my sides as I scoffed. "Forget it," I said, a bit angrier, as I turned to leave. As often, it was her hand on my wrist that stopped me.

I turned around. "We can't. I have a reputation," she said, making my eyes narrow even more. I took a step closer to my president, disbelief on my face. "A reputation? You think I would ruin your reputation?" I asked, starting to laugh. "Do you know how many people want me?" I asked, making Haerin look at me angrily.

"Then go to them," she replied sharply, making me take a deep breath. I noticed how the dark-haired girl released my wrist, which made my jaw clench. "But I want you," I replied just as sharply. Haerin scoffed and rolled her eyes. "But I don't want to be just a secret," I added.

Haerin licked her lips as she grabbed my hips. I could see her clench her teeth as she pulled me closer. "Shut up and kiss me," she hissed, connecting our lips.

"You don't get it, do you?" I asked as I immediately broke the kiss and pushed her hands away from my hips. My girlfriend looked at me in disbelief, her mouth open. "No. You just don't get it!" Haerin replied, making me shake my head. A clear feeling of disappointment spread through me, making me laugh a little.

"Then I guess I don't understand," I said quietly as I headed to the door and closed it behind me. Leaving Haerin standing in the empty classroom.

Sweat dripped down my neck as I jumped up once more and sent the ball straight into the basket. The hall erupted in loud cheers as my friends and teammates gathered around me. Each of them slapped me on the shoulder, back, or stomach.

Annoyed, I huffed, which made Jimin, the captain, laugh loudly. "You’re on fire today," Yeji said, immediately putting me in a headlock. My eyes narrowed, and I quickly freed myself from the slightly older woman. Yeji raised her hands in a defensive gesture. "Yeah, yeah. All right. Sorry," she said, making me sigh once more.

My jaw clenched as I got back into position. One of the cheerleaders stood a little behind me, excitedly waving her pom-poms. "You look pretty hot all sweaty," I heard the cheerleader say, probably with a grin on her face.

I glanced over my shoulder to see the slightly shorter woman. Of course. Who else could it be?

Kim Chaewon was once again the one blatantly flirting with me. She had distanced herself from her cheerleader friends to be closer to me, her eyes fixed on me as she bit her lip.

Without giving any reaction, I started jogging toward one of my opponents as they approached.

From the corner of my eye, I noticed Haerin sitting with her friends on one of the benches. The benches around them were empty as if everyone avoided them, staying well out of their way. Haerin’s eyes were only on me while Minji typed something on her phone, completely uninterested in the game. Hanni had one leg crossed over the other, painting her freshly done nails. Hyein and Danielle seemed more interested in the game, though Hyein kept grimacing whenever one of the water boys or girls passed by.

The game didn’t last much longer. Yeji, our small forward, managed to end the game with a dunk. Yeji looked happily at Ryujin, but her smile vanished when she saw Jimin talking to Ryujin. I patted Yeji on the back encouragingly, and she looked at me with a sad smile.

I grabbed the bottle given to us by the water girl and took a few sips. From the corner of my eye, I saw Haerin approaching, probably to talk to me, but my attention turned to Chaewon, who was looking at me flirtatiously, swaying her hips (probably to seem sexy) as she walked over.

Normally, I would have just turned her down without revealing if I was single or not. But the anger still simmering in me made me grin. Especially knowing that Haerin was watching and probably listening.

"No. No girlfriend," I replied, placing my hand on my hip. Chaewon’s grin widened as she shifted her weight to one leg. "No girlfriend," she repeated, laughing joyfully. "Good. That’s what I was really hoping for," she added, folding her hands behind her back.

I hummed curiously. "Want to go out with me?" Chaewon asked, and my eyebrows raised. "Oh? Officially? In public?" I asked, a bit louder than necessary. Chaewon didn’t suspect anything and smiled. "Yes. Officially. But we could also... go to my place," she said more quietly, stepping closer to me.

Impressed by the smaller girl’s confidence, I felt my cheeks heat up. If I weren’t hopelessly in love with Haerin, then maybe, just maybe, I could imagine going out with Chaewon. No matter how cliché it would be for a basketball player to date one of the cheerleaders.

"What was that?" Haerin asked sharply, pushing off the wall she'd been leaning against. My hair was still wet from the shower I’d just taken. I glanced around before looking back at Haerin. "What's wrong? Now you're talking to me in public?" I asked, which made Haerin click her tongue.

"You're not really going out with that bitch, are you?" she asked, making my eyebrows shoot up. Honestly, I hadn't even answered Chaewon yet. I had just asked for more time, which she had thankfully given me.

Crossing my arms over my chest, I scoffed. "Why not? Hm?" I asked, making Haerin narrow her eyes even more. "Because you're my—" she started but then stopped herself and looked around before continuing in a whisper, "girlfriend."

My jaw clenched as I shook my head. "Really? It doesn't feel like it," I replied truthfully, making Haerin's mouth fall open. She hissed in annoyance and took several steps closer, grabbing my wrist as she had done so many times before, preventing me from walking away.

"Oh no? Then what does it feel like to you?" she asked, her voice low and threatening, clearly irritated.

"Fuck buddies," I answered. "It feels like we're nothing more. We don’t go on dates, we don’t hang out, not even with your friends, because they can't know. We only meet at your place or mine, have sex, and then maybe watch a movie or cuddle," I said, my voice growing angrier.

"You knew what you were getting into," she retorted.

I looked at the dark-haired woman in disbelief. I immediately pulled my wrist from her grip. "Yeah, I knew. I thought that would be enough," I began, laughing humorlessly. "man these comments sure are useless..." haerin mutters under her breath as she shifts her gaze behind her laptop, as she sits on the dorm's sofa — she catches a glimpse of you from the kitchen, talking to minji while baking cupcakes and cookies. haerin feels a sense of jealousy, also guilt. she doesn't quite understand why you're so distant today, it's only tuesday and you haven't told her what the problem was, it's already getting inside haerin's head and is making her overthink about what she may have done wrong.

you kind of feel the way your heart skips, wasn't part of the plan by the way — you didn't want to ignore haerin but you wanted to make her feel that you were quite disappointed with her dismissive behavior yesterday, when she brushed off min heejin in exchange for peace (an alone time with you). it's not like min heejin was mad or anything — actually, she didn't even mind it but of course, you did and you know haerin didn't even realize that she completely dismissed their ceo for you.

"it's not wrong, i guess... it's just not proper." haerin pushes herself up when you answer, her eyes widening. "w-what did i do?" she asks, though she tried to exclaim, her voice came out gentle and almost like a whisper. you know she's almost panicking, so you give her a small smile and walk to her side, not forgetting to grab the bag of icing.

"haerin, look — i know you love me but yesterday, i feel like you could've responded a little more attentively to heejin-nim yesterday. she was asking us nicely if we wanted to eat lunch with her, you know us three?" your shoulders slack, then you shrug, giving her a small smile. "you sounded uninterested and although you really wanted to spend the whole time with me — you shouldn't have shrugged her off like that. still, i love you haerin." you squeezed the icing out of the pipe and onto the cupcake.

"sorry... i got a little too carried away." haerin looks at your hands as she reaches to scratch her cheek, feeling her face warming up in embarrassment.

you remain quiet for a few minutes, finishing the icing before you place the bag down and face her, lifting your hand and touching her shoulder, then your fingers press against her neck. "i know... it's okay." you whisper, looking at her face — the way you stare made her flustered, feeling the familiar sound of her heart thumping banging in her ears.

she wants to stare back at you but you're making it hard for her.

"why are you spying on our conversation?" you ask, raising a brow at her, turning your phone sideways where she can't see the screen. "you have your screen brightness as bright as the sun on a sunday morning, probably that's why anyone within the distance of 50 meters would be able to read your messages." minji answers, still has her eyes shut as if she's got someone throwing acid at her eyes.

"okay... you didn't have to go off like that by the way — hey manager-nim! let's get 20 chicken nuggets for haerin!" you raise your hand, your manager looks at you and minji through the rear mirror and nods. "okay! there's a mcdonald's drive thru nearby." they answer before looking back at the road. minji finally opens her eyes and looks at you. "why does she want 20 chicken nuggets?" she asks, leaning on the seat.

today, you had a schedule for a magazine cover photoshoot with minji and although it was such a fun experience to have with your oldest member — it sure is tiring, this is why you never forget to thank the staff around after the schedule as they make the job a whole lot easier for you.

"because she wants some. why is it even a question?" you look up and then to minji — minji laughs and shakes her head. "oh nothing, just didn't expect her to have a borderline addiction to chicken nuggets. like — 20? guess she really did want to impress you before." minji shrugs, eyes shifting to the window and following the buildings with her eyes.

"i do think chicken nuggets are great — i'm happy to share that sentiment with her." you giggle, feeling your heart jump in joy — sometimes minji feels like if you were an inside out character, you'd probably only have like at least 5 joys, 5 angers, 5 fears, 5 disgust and 5 sadness — you express emotions 5 times more intensely than haerin.

minji laughs when she imagines haerin having like 1/2 joy, maybe 1 anger, 1 disgust, 1/2 fear and 1/2 sadness and thinking about it more made her burst out laughing so hard.

"what is wrong with you?" you ask minji, watching her clutch her stomach in laughter. "oh my god... nothing — you and haerin are so perfect together!" minji dramatically wipes a tear off of her eye as she speak.

"you're just jealous and bitter." you scoff playfully, minji shrugs and lets out one last snicker. "you and hanni always say that." she shakes her head.

"you really do smell like a watermelon, i love it so much." you mutter, voice muffled by her tshirt that's been sprayed by a perfume resembling the scent of a fresh watermelon.

haerin had just gotten home from her trip out of the country and though she was tired, she couldn't help but give you the satisfaction to get a whiff of her watermelon scent that she bought from a store in her trip, thinking of you while on her way to pay for it.

"cool, if only hyein wouldn't take a bite out of me, i would be willing to smell like a watermelon everyday." haerin declares.

"ah, thanks manager! me and haerin are off to get something, we'll be alright don't worry!" you link your arms with haerin's as you pull her to the exit of the building, you look at her and see her sharp eyes even with a cap on her head. you smile and tilt your head, beaming at her direction — her eyes relax at the sight of your face, it brings a smile on her lips even if it is covered with a mask.

"won't they go looking for us?" haerin whispers, both of you make your way to a sidewalk — it's only 5pm and after practice have just finished, you decide that it would be a good idea to hang out with her for even just a short amount of time — even just walking around the park and looking at anything, it's enough time to keep your head from going insane with the amount of burden work has left you.

you intertwine your fingers with hers, swaying both your hands together as you two walk in a moderately occupied street. although you'd like it better if it was just you and her, you can't help but at least feel a little more like an ordinary human loving someone with all these people around — it made you feel less of a robot, and it feels like you're just like everyone else.

"they probably will but, we'll be alright, right? i'm with you and you're with me, i don't have anything to be scared of." you say, moving closer to her — closing the gap between you and her figure. haerin looks away for only a bit, her eyes even as they were covered with the cap — looks like there were glimmering stars inside of them. "right, i'll make sure no one bothers us." haerin puffs her chest proudly, trying to seem big and mighty but all you can see is a cat — like a cat that stands on its two paws with it's two other paws raised.

"uh huh, bet no one will bother us if you hiss at them." you laugh, feeling the way your cheeks warm up at the sensation of her hand. "they won't." she says.

your eyes spots a small vendor selling beunggo-ppang — you pull down you mask and you look at haerin with a grin on your face. "let's get some snacks!" haerin tries to balance herself when you start pulling her to the vendor, approaching the stall with a bright smile. you buy two of the snack and reach out to give the other one to her.

"we have so much on our plate right now, so many events — photoshoots, filming... sometimes i wish we could get a long vacation or something." you start to talk once again when haerin takes your hand again and holds it tight, she looks at you as you speak, holding her snack in the other hand of hers. you look forward, seeing the sunset peeking behind the tall buildings as the light illuminates on your face.

haerin looks down on the snack on her hand, analyzes the warm fish-like bread, and sees the way the smoke wafts around. she then turns her head to look at you and feels the way her stomach twists, the way her heart thumps and her cheeks feel warmer than usual.

"i do too. if we get the chance to go spend a day even for only one day, where no one can recognize us. where would it be?" haerin asks, eyes looking for your eyes — she sees the sunset reflecting on your pupils. you stop walking and you stand near a playground at a park, it's empty with every kid and their guardians making their way home.

"me?" you point your index finger to yourself. haerin nods and underneath a mask is a smile on her lips.

"yes you."

"huh... if we had a chance to go somewhere without being recognized... i think i would want to go to an arcade." you answer before taking the last bite out of your beungo-ppang, haerin tilts her head as she looks at you, wondering what made you choose an arcade as your answer. "why an arcade?"

"i mean why not?" you shrug.

"i expected you'll answer like a theme park or a beach." haerin says. you laugh and nod.

you look at the dark sky, turning dark blue then to haerin's eyes. "well, both are nice too but whenever i think of theme parks and beaches, i prefer being with you guys. and if it were just the two of us, i wanted to be in a place like a local arcade — you know like, the two of us and maybe some other people who don't know us. and we'll feel like an ordinary couple doing couple stuff!" haerin nods.

"then it would feel less suffocating and scary, then we won't have to worry about what we don't know, what we expect and what may happen." you add, you take off your mask to fully show the smile on your face. haerin feels her heart clench, something not out of sadness — maybe, a bit because she wishes she could actually have you without being scared of a lot of things then again, she has you and you have her, what's there to be afraid of?

she's so happy that you feel that way about her, that you're as desperate as she is and as eager to do stuff together and cherish each other's presence. it makes her feel special, like haerin other than being an idol has something to be proud of. "i wish we can stop cosplaying and playing pretend to be highschool students in a mysterious world. but i really don't regret being an idol, besides having all these people who care about me i also met you." you tell her, haerin has completely forgotten about her snack — hand reaching out to hold you.

"y/n!" you get surprised with her outburst, she furrows her brows before the untouched snack on her hand falls on the ground and she starts looking for something in her pockets. "haerin..?" you mutter.

"here..! look, i have this ring for you." you watch as she shows a golden ring with a diamond ring — something she saw when she was doing her advertisement for dior. "—! is... that a ring? i know it is but, what for?" you ask, taken back.

"for you. because i love you! and i wanted to give this to you, i don't know why but i really really — really want you to have it." she rambles, you look at it and sees the way the diamond glimmers. "you think i deserve it?" you ask again, feeling hot tears well on the corner of your eyes.

"you do. seriously, that's why i got it because i couldn't help but think of you when i was looking at it." she explains, grabbing your other hand and slipping it on your ring finger.

"how did you know it fits?" you ask, looking at the ring on your finger, mesmerized by the way it shines.

"i... kind of just felt your fingers and went with my intuition." she laughs and shrugs, the way her eyes bend make you weak.

"i love it! it's so beautiful." you giggle, ecstatic.

"yeah i know, that's why i got it for you." haerin pulls her mask down and pulls you in a tight hug, you feel your heart jump and you let her be as she wraps her arms around you. "hey..." you mutter.

your eyes scan the monitor of haerin's macbook, seeing the words from a website haerin have recently visited — she's asking a forum website, consulting strangers for help with you and her relationship. yesterday, after a schedule that lasted almost a whole day — you came home with the group and stayed inside your room, unmoving the whole time. maybe it's the neverending work, the lack of sleep, and the amount of coffee you took but you were feeling so sad.

you were lying on your side on the bad, sad and alone, haerin peeked to see you and felt compelled whether she should lay next to you or leave you be.

haerin entered your room, not forgetting to knock but you were so lost in your thoughts you have completely ignored her. she stood beside the bed, looking at your frame trying to decipher what may be the reason behind your sadness but have come to a conclusion that she may not know why.

the truth is that, you are also clueless to what is the reason why — you don't understand why you felt like this and don't understand why you can't understand.

you're just sad and tired.

haerin sat next to you in the bed, but kept her hands to herself. you still have your back facing her that time, it's not like you were ignoring her but you just didn't have the energy to turn around and talk nor even say anything about it.

haerin wanted to ask but she's contemplating if you would want to talk about it because she understood that there are times where people are just sad for no reason, it happens to her when she's feeling like a burnout.

it still bothered her, she really wanted to make you feel better but at the same time, she didn't want you to think or worry that once you tell her what you felt, you would think haerin sees herself as the problem.

after a while, she decided to leave your room and found herself in the dorm's living room, her macbook on the coffee table by the sofa. she sat on the sofa and started typing on her keyboard, that's where she found herself asking for help on the website and after waiting and more waiting, and some thinking — haerin fell asleep on the couch.

today, as soon as you wake up, you find her lying on the sofa, in a deep slumber.

you smile at the sight and crouch to the level of the sofa to take a good look at haerin, sees the way her eyes flutter and the way her chest rises. you get the urge to pinch her cheeks but resort to poking her cheek.

"love you haerin." you whisper before leaning in to kiss her temple and standing up to close her macbook before leaving to cook breakfast in the kitchen with the other girls.

Walking around the park with the sun just rose in the sky, filling the world with light. My mornings are usually great, but it's greater when I see him.

"Y/nnie!!!" I squealed and ran up to the boy.

Y/n looked at me with all smiles as he prepared himself for my big hug.

I crashed to Y/n while giggling and he patted my hair making me look up since he is a bit taller than me.

"Hello Hanni-ya," Y/n said which made me blush and squeal. Y/n then pulled my head tighter into our hug making me squeal muffled.

"Aish you noisy little dolphin," I heard Y/n say which made me giggle at him again.

Y/n and I are childhood buddies, making our interactions a little bit more extra than normal friends would do.

People in the company would say that we are a couple because of how we treat each other, but to be honest, we are not a couple. Yet.

It's a sad thing on my part but, I'm trying to change that now that we are working for the same company. The good thing is, he is one of our managers.

You see, my feelings for Y/n blossomed into something that I never expected. His kindness and silliness caught my eyes and when I am with him, I'm comfortable, I feel warm and safe.

"Where're the others Hanni-ya?" Y/n asked and I just shrugged in our hug as we parted.

"Don't know, let's find them!" I said.

"Find who?" Someone asked making me look at the owner of the voice. Looking at the owner and seeing it's Minji along with the squad, I smiled.

My members also laughed at me making me glare at them. I then sulked making them laugh harder, Y/n then hugged me and nuzzled his head onto my neck which made me froze up on my spot.

As Y/n does his thing, my smile begins to widen as this is not something I see every day. As if my heart is telling my brain to smile like an idiot. Making my heart beat faster, I put my hands on the boy's head and played with his hair.

Usually, I'm not affected by Y/n's affection or whatnot but this time, it felt different. I felt something that made me shiver in a good way.

"♬ Oh, my, oh, my God, yesanghaesseo na,

I was really hoping that he will come through~♬ " Haerin suddenly sang and danced the part.

"♬ Oh, my, oh, my God, dan neoppuniya,

Asking all the time about what I should do~♬ " Minji finished the part with a teasing smirk on her face.

Honestly, the other girls are getting on my nerves sometimes. Their constant teasing especially our dear leader and even Haerin and her habit of mimicking everyone else.

I just sighed at the sight of my members and the boy who is nuzzling his head on my neck then backs up with a smile that makes my heart flutter.

"Y-yah! What is t-that about?!" I stuttered and pointed my pen which is like a plant at him. I threatened him with a scary look which Y/n just giggled at.

The boy ruffled my hair making it a mess. I screamed in annoyance which made me sulk at his actions.

My members and Y/n just giggled and left me whining like a puppy which made me cry in annoyance. I then followed them stomping heavily to give them a warning that I am very angry! To which I'm really not. Hehe~

"Haerin-ah, Hyein-ah. Don't be like your unnie who sulks at everything," Y/n said which made me gasp. I'm very offended!

"You! Come here you!" I then ran to catch Y/n but he ran earlier as he probably expected me to run after him.

Making his teasing as my motivation to run faster, I become determined to catch the boy who is my childhood friend... and manager.

Minji POV

"Look at Y/n targeting Hanni again," Danielle said as she giggled.

"Shh! Let Y/n oppa avenge me from Hanni unnie's pranks!" Haerin said as she is watching her unnie ready to smash our manager.

"Y/n oppa run!" Hyein shouted as Y/n raised his hands to acknowledge Hyein's support.

I shook my head happily but I'm also rooting for Y/n. Sorry to betray you Hanni-ya, but Y/n is the only one who can avenge us for your pranks.

Hanni POV

"Hanni Pham~," A kitten called me which made me look at the girl.

"Why Haerin-ah?" I questioned and Haerin showed me her phone and which made me interested piqued. I grabbed her phone and I see Y/n with a girl. Clearly, the girl is Kim Chaewon from Le Sserafim.

I was saddened at the picture which made me pout but then, I began to sulk again.

"Why didn't you tell me that you have a girlfriend?"

I said in my mind.

Why am I sad like this? Is it maybe I'm too late to confess? Why did I let Y/n walk away freely?

But, I know that I did everything. Having fun with Y/n, teasing, and hanging out with him.

Is this what heartbreak feels like? If this is it, I wish this all is only a dream that I can wake up feeling Y/n in my arms again.

"What is this dumb unnie doing? Why is she tearing up? Didn't she hear what I said about Y/n oppa being Chaewon unnie's temporary manager for the day?"

I said in my thoughts as I'm starting at this unnie of mine. Suddenly Minji unnie tapped me which made me go out of a trance.

"Why are you looking Hanni like that Haerin-ah?" Minji asked and I looked at our leader.

"I just showed Y/n oppa and Chaewon together and explain why they are together," I just said and Minji unnie stared at Hanni unnie tearing up.

"Y/n and Chaewon you say? Y/n being Le Sserafim's temporary manager of the day right?" Minji asked while looking at Hanni unnie.

"Yep! But it seems that she didn't hear my explanation," I muttered which made Minji unnie snicker.

"Aish, this girl is deeply in love with Y/n," Minji muttered and giggled.

Giggling with unnie, I was in awe when I saw one of my unnie sulking while being jealous at the same time.

One thing about Hanni unnie is that she is very expressive, especially with her face telling about her emotions so she is easy to read.

As I stare at Hanni unnie again,

Someone knocked on our door. The head manager of our group then entered with a tablet in her hand.

"Unnie!" "Hi, unnie~," "Jiyeon unnie!" My other members and I except Hanni unnie greeted our manager.

"Hi girls~ strangely, there's no one to crush me with their hug," Jiyeon unnie said which made me and Minji unnie laugh as the girl Jiyeon unnie is talking about is Hanni unnie.

"Hanni? Oh right, where is she?" Danielle asked and Minji unnie and I pointed at the girl who is staring intently at my phone.

They were puzzled as to why Hanni unnie is like that, I then had enough of looking at Hanni unnie and decided to tap the older girl.

As soon as I tap Hanni unnie, she shook her head and seemed shocked that manager unnie is now here.

"Woah, when did you get here Jiyeon unnie?" Hanni unnie asked.

"I just got here Hanni-ya," Jiyeon unnie said. Hanni unnie shrugged then handed me back my phone and unnie went out of the room.

"I will be right back! I will just uh... Go somewhere, yeah! Bye!" Hanni unnie said.

With that, unnie yeeted and slams the door to a close. I look at my other members and they just shrugged.

"Probably will go to Y/n," Minji unnie said which made us all giggle.

"Oh right! He's with Chaewon today right?" Danielle unnie asked.

"Yep! Hanni Pham is jelly," I said as we all giggled.

"Funny that Pd-nim puts Y/n on his bias of Le Sserafim. Unnie will explode there," Hyein added which made our laughs louder.

"Being childhood friends hmm? That's cute," Minji unnie giggled as me and the other people in the room look at our leader weirdly.

Hanni POV

Where's the boy? I'm eager to kill someone today and let him witness the wrath of Hanni Pham.

Walking in the halls of the company I grumbled, eager to find Y/n and hear his explanation.

As I continue to walk, I saw one of the managers of Le Sserafim. My eyes glistened and went to the said manager.

"Manager-nim! Can I ask a question?" I said while panting a little bit.

"Sure Hanni-ya, what is it?" Fimmies' manager asked.

"By any chance did you see Y/n?" I asked shyly and manager-nim giggled at me.

"I believe that I told your members the reason why we borrowed Y/n yes?" Manager-nim said which made me stand there confused about what the manager is saying.

"I-I'm sorry?" I asked and manager-nim chuckled.

"Okay, I requested from the head office to borrow a manager since one of the managers of Le Sserafim is ill in the meantime. Then, Y/n volunteered, making him the temporary manager of Chaewon," Manager-nim said.

"Y/n volunteered? Why didn't he tell me?"

I thanked the Fimmies' manager and went back to our practice room where I see my members huddled around eating without me.

"YAH!" I exclaimed and my members looked at me.

"What? Is eating bad now?" Minji asked which made me sulk.

"It's bad when you are eating without me!" I roared making them giggle.

"Well, what can we do if you are busy finding your boyfriend unnie?" Haerin cooed which made me blush.

"Yah! What boyfriend?! I'm not finding Y/n!" I defended myself.

"You said Y/n, not us," Danielle nonchalantly said and went back to eating her food. I ruffled my hair in annoyance as they got me again.

Y/n POV

"Yah Eunchae! Get back here you little potato!" Chaewon roared as she is chasing their maknae around the venue.

"Bleh! You can't catch me unnie," Eunchae showed her a tongue and just giggled.

I shook my head and breathed deeply as I'm getting Deja vú here. Just as I thought that Le Sserafim is calmer than New Jeans, today is the day that I debunk my thoughts.

As the two members of Le Sserafim are playing cat and mouse, I just opened my phone to see that I'm bombarded by calls and messages from Hanni.

Sure it weirded me out since Hanni is not the girl who is into calls. Since I'm on duty right now, I just texted Hanni that I will go to their dorm after my schedule.

Knowing that Hanni will accept my plea, I closed my phone and checked what happened to the leader and maknae of this group.

Seeing that Chaewon is holding Eunchae and her phone, I can safely say that peace is upon us... for now.

"Ha! Got you unnie!" Eunchae laughed whole heatedly. Chaewon who is stunned suddenly giggled at Eunchae's antics and playfully smacked her and there, they laugh it all out.

Meanwhile, the other Fimmies are just talking about something that I don't know so I let them be.

The door opened and it revealed the head manager of Le Sserafim. The girls suddenly fixed themselves which made me chuckle as they are so professional.

"Unnie!" Eunchae ran and hugged their manager.

"And the troublemaker," I said softly but still audible for everyone to hear it.

The Fimmies laughed and manager noona just nodded.

"I see that you are coping well Y/n," Manager noona giggled.

"Chaewon warned me so I kinda expected it," I said and went to high-five a very satisfied Chaewon.

"It's mostly about Eunchae and Yunjin though so it's easy," Chaewon said which earned a pout roar from the mentioned girls.

"YAH!!!"

I just giggled at them and topped my sentence.

"And besides, working with Le Sserafim and New Jeans are like the same," I said and manager noona seems to be surprised at my answer.

"Really? I thought New Jeans are innocent," Manager noona said to which I immediately shook my head.

"No~ no. They are much worse," I said and shivered thinking about the antics of New Jeans. Manager noona giggled and patted my back.

"At least, they are a source of joy," Manager noona said which is very true, making me nod at her.

"Yeah noona. Yeah," I said but instead of thinking of the New Jeans' girls, I just thought about my friend, my best friend, my childhood friend.

"By the way Y/n. Hanni is finding you in the company earlier," Manager noona said which made me get out of my trance.

"Hanni? Oh, maybe it's the same reason why she is calling me earlier," I muttered and manager noona just shrugged.

"Maybe. Oh well, just go to her after our schedule," Manager noona said.

"Ne!" I answered.

Hanni POV

"Gosh! Why is Y/n taking so looong~!" I whined and flapped my arms.

"Aigoo, look at her finding his boyfriend again," Minji said which made me glare at the girl.

"Let her be girls, surely she just misses her best friend," Jiyeon unnie said which made my sulky demeanor summon again for the nth time.

I crossed my arms and sulked as our manager and my members laughed at me. Suddenly the door to our dorm sounded but I did not think much about it since I want my pride to be higher than the other girls in this room.

As I'm sulking, a hand was then felt on my shoulder making me look at the person. To my happiness, It's Y/n. Of course, it all came down when Y/n didn't tell me about his plans earlier, making me sulk deeper.

"HMPH!" I crossed my arms and eyes.

Y/n POV

"What is this dumb dumb doing?"

I stand there, wondering what Hanni is doing. Obviously, she's sulking.

I looked over to her members as they just giggled at me. Minji then went to me and whispered something.

I smiled and thanked Minji as she shooed her members and Jiyeon noona making me and Hanni alone.

Patting Hanni's hair, the girl looked at me with an angered face. Making me giggle I just continued stroking her hair until I looked at her eyes.

The way her eyes glistened and see me in them, the black orbs that are so wonderful to see. Slowly, I leaned my head closer and Hanni closed her eyes. Excited yet with a mixture of anxiety, but all of that went away when our lips touched.

It's like it sealed our friendship you know? But in a good way. Friendship evolved into something more lovely, making us both happy. Hanni's lips are sweet as honey, it will be sweeter if I will be it.

Parting from our kiss, I cupped Hanni's cheeks and smiled.

"Knowing you since we were little is the best thing that happened to me. With you, I'm happy, I feel complete. Though you are a little brat sometimes-," I giggled before continuing my words.

"You still made me love you, not just as friends, but into something more. Hanni, right now I'm here talking to you, saying that,"

"I Love You,"

I finished my sentence and looked at the girl I am holding. With tears in her eyes, Hanni hugged me with all her might and she bawled in my hug.

"You! Y-you! You don't know how long I waited for this!" Hanni said and she cried all out again which made me smile as I have my answer now. Our feelings are mutual.

I patted the hair of the crying Hanni to calm her down and her members and Jiyeon noona went out of the room where they hide to see us again while cheering for us.

"Hooray for the new couple!" Danielle cheered.

"Wah, NOW he is your boyfriend Hanni-ya. Congratulations!" Minji said which made me giggle. Hanni then wails louder making the other people in the room laugh.

"Unnie and oppa! I agree," Hyein said with both of her thumbs up.

"The avenger of me! Oppa! Be careful!" Haerin said which made Hanni stomp her feet. Funny that this girl is still sulking despite the happenings.

We just laughed at Hanni who is probably looking like a mess in my hug. Hanni and I parted then as my instincts would tell me, I wiped the tears on Hanni's face and fixed her hair. Also, I leaned in for a peck and a pinkish tint appeared on her cheeks.

Giggling at her, I decided to hug Hanni once more and Jiyeon noona just started the coo's, and the rest of the New Jeans' followed.

Hanni might be sulky, but I will make sure that she will be happy.

PROLOGUE;

I watched as she plopped herself on the chair again. Everyday for the past two semesters this girl, without fail, would sit right next to the window, two seats down from where I sat. She always looked tired, dark bags under her eyes, she would always walk into the lecture hall and sit down on that window seat and rest her head on her arms and sleep. I mean, come on, who pays this much for tuition and just walks into class to what? Rest your eyes? It's literally 2 in the afternoon.

No one took notice to her or seemed to care, honestly I don't think anyone cared about the class either (to be fair, it was intro psychology). I did though, even with the dark bags, the baggy hoodie, she was cute. As cute as a college student, who wanted nothing but to die, can be I guess. She never took notes in class, I figured she would be fine failing the class, so who cares right? Now, tell me why in the world am I feeling slightly bad for her as I write my notes down?

I watched as (I'm not creepy, trust me) her hood rode up slightly, exposing her newly dyed ginger hair to me. Ginger? Really? All the colors in the world, all the dyes that you could have chosen and this cute girl that I don't even know the name of, chose ginger? Like, come on cute girl, I liked you more when you were dirty blonde.

"Alright, guys, I can tell you're all very tired. You did a good job, let's pack it up."

A few relieved groans and a rushed stuffing my stuff in my bag later, I was out of the lecture hall and breathing in the fresh air as I walked towards my dorm. I froze as I saw cute girl punching in her code to her dorm. Okay pause, first off, how in the world did this girl get to her dorm faster than me? I was quite literally the first person to get out of that godforsaken lecture hall. And two, cute girl is my dorm neighbor? What in the literal fuck?

I put in my dorm code, swung the door wide open and slammed it shut with my eyes looking like saucers. My dorm mate, Hanni, was laying on the couch with TV remote in hand, while looking at me amused.

"Hanni FUCKING PHAM."

"WHAT? DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG?"

"Cute girl. Cute girl from intro psych. Next door. Ginger. WHAT THE FUCK."

"y/n calm your ASS down and tell me, with sentences, minimum 5th grade level. Can you do that for me, sweetie?" Hanni mockingly said, while sitting up.

"Okay I hate you, but remember cute girl I told you about? Always sleeps, hood on? From my intro psych class?"

"Mhm."

"She dyed her hair ginger AND she lives in dorm next to us? It's been literally TWO semesters, how have I not seen her?" I said, shock evident in my voice.

"Wait, wait. Does she look or act like the epitome of happiness, sunshine and rainbows?"

"What the fuck, no? She sleeps in class."

"Oh my god. Cute girl is Kang Haerin?"

"..Who?"

Hanni was about to open her mouth when we heard a knock on the door. We rolled our eyes as we assumed it was those frat boys who were playing ding dong ditch like little kids. We ignored it as I told Hanni to continue, and we heard another knock. I groaned as I pushed myself away from the couch and went to open the door.

"Hi! You must be my dorm neighbor, sorry, my name is Danielle!" She greeted with a weirdly happy, too happy look on her face for a broke college student that is most likely in debt.

"Oh Danielle! Hi, what brings you over here?" Hanni smiled as she walked up behind me.

"Nothing much, I just heard some yelling over here and wanted to check in on you guys. You're both alright, right?" She asked a worried expression plaguing her face.

"Yep, we were just really excited." I breathed out with a (not so) genuine smile.

"Alright, well. y/n right? Hanni told me and Haerin about you, it's nice to finally meet you! I'll get going now, Haerin wanted me to grab some things from the convenience store for her." Danielle waved as she left, not forgetting to smile (so hard I thought her face was about to combust. How does someone smile so much in college? Respect to her though).

I closed the door as I turned to Hanni with the fakest smile I could muster.

"You weren't kidding, huh?"

"Yep, sunshine and rainbows and fucking everything in between."

I mean at least I can put a name to a face now. Haerin. Kang Haerin. Cute name for a cute girl.

With a frown on my face, I stared stubbornly at my phone. I had been scrolling through Instagram for hours, probably having seen every single reel by now. I kept refreshing the page, but nothing new appeared. Sighing, I leaned my head against the armrest of our couch.

I was bored...

Normally, Hyein and Danielle were always around, annoying me. Why not now?!

I sighed once again and started humming. My eyes fixed on the ceiling until suddenly, Danielle's frequent song came to mind. "Vanessa Kang, I miss you," I sang in the same beat as Dani, of course. "Vanessa Kang, where are you? Vanessa Kang, why you'd not come?" I chuckled lightly at my own behavior.

"What's up?"

Startled, I jerked and looked with wide eyes at the person who was just staring at me. I sat up abruptly and stared at the younger one with my mouth agape. "Is this your song for appearing now?" I asked, laughing slightly, but the younger one seemed a bit confused by my words. Her head tilted slightly as she approached me with slow and sluggish steps.

Without saying anything, she stretched out on the couch, her head resting on my legs. My hand, as if it were natural, in her hair. My fingers ran through her long black hair. A small smile on her face as she blissfully closed her eyes. "What are you doing here all alone?" Haerin asked after a short silence, during which I continued to stroke her hair and occasionally massaged her scalp.

Haerin hummed blissfully, but opened her eyes when I didn't respond. A laugh escaped my throat as her forehead now furrowed a bit due to the lack of words in this conversation. With a smile on my face, I watched as the younger one slowly sat up and looked at me in disbelief. "Will you answer me?" she asked, now starting to snort a bit.

A laugh escaped me as I shook my head amusedly. "Do you talk like this with older people?" I asked as I playfully placed my hand on my chest, pretending as if it hurt. Haerin automatically rolled her eyes. "I talk like this with my friends," she replied, causing me to nod shortly after.

"I'm bored to death," I replied shortly, making Haerin raise her eyebrows. She hesitated visibly and looked around for a short while. "Why? Are you done already?" she asked as she assessed me from head to toe. "But you don't look like it," she added shortly after, tugging at my blue and plain pajama pants.

"Done with what? Why?" I asked, visibly confused, prompting Haerin to look at me inquisitively. Her eyes widened shortly after, and she covered her mouth with both hands. "Oh," she uttered as she seemed to curse herself. My curiosity grew, and I immediately approached the younger one. "What is it? What?" I asked, already smiling.

"Oh nooo. Haerin. What did you say?" I suddenly heard from another person. My eyes widened, and immediately I felt my heart beat much faster, and my stomach turned. As if on cue, I sat down normally. My gaze lowered a bit, and my fingers started playing with each other as I felt my cheeks visibly blush.

Minji was there. Dressed in jeans and a white tank top, she was drying her wet hair with a towel. Her eyes were on me and Haerin as she started sighing softly. "Did you tell her?" the leader of Newjeans asked, and her eyes shifted to me. A slight smirk appeared on her lips. "Unnie," my head shot up immediately, and I stared at the taller person with my mouth open. "Get ready," the younger one demanded, and almost instantly, I stood up, banging my knee loudly against the coffee table.

I whimpered in pain but quickly disappeared, embarrassed, into the bathroom. My face now even redder, and my heart threatened to leap out of my chest. With deep and slow breaths, I tried to calm my heart down. I must not... I must not fall in love with Minji, but it was already too late...

"Where are we?" I asked as my eyes widened. The entire hall was empty, and my grin only widened when I saw dartboards on the walls and several billiard to ping pong tables scattered in the room. Happily, I turned to my members, and each of them suddenly started to smile.

"This is a thank you from us," Danielle said, and everyone nodded. Now, my forehead wrinkled in question, "Thank you for what?" I asked as my smile slowly faded. Hyein and Danielle exchanged glances, while Haerin nudged Minji forward. Hanni had her phone in hand.

Minji laughed. Her hand wandered to her hair as she scratched her scalp a bit. After taking a deep breath, she looked straight into my eyes. My breath caught, and a nervous smile formed on my face. I slowly looked up, directly into her eyes, which made Minji smirk a bit.

"Thank you for being there for us. Without you... honestly, I don't know what we would do without you," Minji said, lightly laughing, although it seemed to stem from her nervousness. I smiled as I looked at each of them, "Oh, come on. It works because each of you puts in effort," I replied. "Thanks, guys," I added, now a bit softer.

Hanni clapped her hands, "Let's go. I finally want to beat Y/n in one of the games," Hanni said as her hands landed on my shoulders as if by habit, and she pushed me towards the dartboards. We immediately started playing, with Minji clearly struggling.

She seemed unable to control her strength, repeatedly hitting the wall, causing the dart to bounce off and almost hit one of us. "Take cover! It's Minji's turn," Hyein giggled, and everyone took a few steps back. However, I just shook my head amused as I watched Minji start to pant angrily.

With a smile on my face, I approached the taller woman, "Here," I started as I corrected her hand on the dart. "Don't grip it with your whole hand. Just use your three fingers," I instructed the younger one, noticing her surprised look. I smiled encouragingly, "I always close one of my eyes and then throw only from the elbow," I said as I corrected her throwing arm.

"Now throw. Gently," I said, watching as Minji, the woman who made my heart beat faster, finally hit the dartboard, and the arrow stuck. With wide eyes, we looked at each other, and almost immediately, Danielle squealed. Overjoyed, Minji wrapped her arms around my waist, pulling me into a tight hug. The blush on my face was hard to miss.

My hands on the younger one's back as I let myself fall into this embrace. The scent of the younger one completely enveloped me, numbing my senses. My heart raced a thousand times faster, my skin burned, and my muscles started to twitch. The warmth she radiated made me close my eyes for a few seconds.

"I-"

"Unnie. Unnie. Unnie," Hyein said, prompting me to break the hug. I saw the youngest of us jumping excitedly on the spot, "Now it's my turn. Show me too!"

"Ha. Loser," Hanni's voice rang out as she provocatively stuck out her tongue at Minji, who once again failed to hit the white ball. More accurately, she did hit it, but with the side of the billiard cue. This was a common sight with beginners. The finger positioning was wrong, the entire stance was wrong, not to mention the strength.

Minji now pursued a laughing Hanni with the cue in hand, while I, quite relaxed since I had my own cue, sank one of the balls. Hyein, who was on my team, jumped up joyfully. However, Danielle, who was on the opposing team with Minji and Hanni, groaned, "Unnie, stop being so good," with a pout.

Hyein quickly nullified Danielle's statement by simply encouraging me further. With a smile on my face, I weighed my options. I was a sore loser... But, if the others wouldn't have fun, I would feel more sorry. Sighing, I focused on the ball, aiming to miss it in a way that no one would notice it was intentional.

The rounds continued until it was Minji's turn again. "You suck. Let me play instead," Hanni said, rolling her eyes. "I just want to beat Y/n-Unnie for once," Hanni added, explaining why she didn't want Minji on her team. I chuckled amused, but stopped when I saw how offended Minji was by this remark.

"If you don't want her on your team, then I'll take her," I said. "You can have Hyein," I added, causing Hyein to complain. Hanni immediately agreed. With a smile on my face, I gestured for Minji to come over to me. "Shall I show you?" I asked as my eyebrows raised.

Minji swallowed and nodded. Her eyes followed every one of my movements, making me nervous. With a smile on my face, I first showed her the grip without touching her, but she couldn't get it right, so I adjusted her grip on the cue myself. I also showed her the different grips. "Either you make a circle with your thumb and forefinger and place the cue in the circle or on the circle," I instructed as I demonstrated one of the grips.

"This grip is also easy," I said as I now tensed my fingers into a claw and placed my fingertips on the billiard table. The cue between the knuckles of my index and middle fingers. Minji nodded in understanding. I smiled amusedly, "But I find my grip the easiest," I started as I now balled my hand into a half-fist and only curled my index and middle fingers. The cue on the index finger.

I handed the cue back to Minji and watched which grip she would use. With a smile on my face, seeing Minji use my favorite grip, I leaned in closely. My chest pressed against her side, while my hand corrected her finger and hand position. Our faces were only inches apart. My breath caught as my mouth opened slightly.

Minji's nose was dangerously close to mine, and the temptation to just kiss her grew with each passing second. I noticed Minji's eyes now drifting to my lips. My breath hitched, and my eyes also briefly wandered down to her. The world around me vanished like blown away.

"Min-"

"Y/-"

I heard a soft giggle and shortly after, someone hissed in pain. Surprised by these sounds, I stumbled back a few steps. My face now completely flushed as I realized that Minji and I were really about to kiss!

Damn it, Danielle!!!

"That was truly hell," Haerin said, rolling her eyes. Immediately, the others agreed, while Minji and I sat on the couch, holding hands. Hanni laughed as she showed us another photo, "It was like your first date. You were too nervous to really talk to each other, but somehow the tension was there," Hanni said as she showed Minji and me the photo she took back then.

I looked at the photo and chuckled. A slight blush on my cheeks. I remembered that moment well. Minji and I, at the billiard table, as I showed her the grips. We were on the verge of kissing.

"Danielle mostly just disturbed, though," Danielle said, causing Hyein to complain, "Hey... I may have... forgotten the plan a bit, okay?" The youngest complained, prompting everyone to roll their eyes, and I just started laughing. I felt Minji intertwining our fingers, "You liked me even then?" she asked, making me nod.

Annoyed, she groaned, "So, I could have kissed you?" she asked again, making me laugh, as the others, except for Danielle, looked disgusted. I just grinned as I placed a kiss on my girlfriend's cheek, "You can kiss me anytime."

Jumping around as she couldn't wait for the snacks to be served, Eunji was so excited to get her hands on something to eat before going trick-or-treating with her older sister and baby brothers.

"Just don't drop it, okay?" Esme hands over a plate of crackers with small slices of ham and cheese for the toddler to build her small cookie snacks. "Don't let the kitties eat them."

Screaming in delight, Eunji runs off to the living room. Her pixie wings flapping behind her, making Selina's cats running after her in wonder.

"She really doesn't mind the scary decorations, huh?" Eunwoo questions as he comes to stand beside the newly mother of twins.

Filling up two cups of punch, she hands one over to the guardian of her hybrid sisters. "She doesn't," she answers. "It still has Seunghyun and I worried whenever we take the kids to the Halloween store. She always seems to gravitate towards the fake weapons. Specifically knives..."

Knowing her child was born from the blood of the Green Goblin, Esme still couldn't shake off the worry she always felt for her baby girl.

Finishing up her crackers, Eunji smiled to her baby brothers that were dressed up as baby bears with her father. "Candy?" She asks, lifting up her candy bag and running off before anyone could stop her. With cats following behind her in the Kang Mansion. She wonders around seeing the various staff helping around the party that her aunt had organized for everyone.

Smiling as she sees one of the staff dressed up, she runs over and opens up her candy bag for candy. "Trick-or-treat!" The toddler chirped, bouncing happily when the man drops some candy into her bag.

"Why aren't you adorable," Juyeon smiled. "You must be Eunji, Selina's niece." Seeing the toddler smile brightly up at him. The werewolf crouches down and pats her head. "I think another staff has candy for you and the other kids down the hall." He tells her, pointing towards the direction where a man dressed as a clown waves at her.

"Candy!!" Squealing in happiness, she thanks the werewolf and runs off towards the next staff. The train of cats following her and stopping abruptly once they sensed something.

"Have you guys seen, Jiji?" Esme asks once she comes back from breastfeeding the twins in another room. "Minji said she was going to look for her, but she said she couldn't find her."

Looking up, Lex looked at her sister in confusion. "We don't hear her over the music." The cat hybrid informs.

Shaking her head as she comes to sit with them, Rory held her twins as her husband chatted away with friends. "Nikki and I don't hear her either. She's probably with the cats."

"Hmm." Selina shook her head, cradling her one year old in her arms as she heard them. "The cats came back running in fear a few minutes ago. She probably scared them or something."

Looking around with anxiety building up, Esme began to feel fear that her toddler had gone missing.

Boozle's Top Ten Movies 2023

So, this was another list in my 2023 review that was super difficult to put together. According to my Letterboxd 2023 list, I watched 178 new movies this year. (Looking at all the dramas and movies I've watched, I honestly do not know where I found the time to consume so much content?! Working from home has its plus side, I guess?)

So, it's been a bit difficult to narrow my list of favourites down, but this is what I ended up with...

(i) Barabarian (2022, Dir. Zch Cregger) This film was NOTHING like what I thought it was going to be. Split into three tales that merge together to tell the story of one house and it's history, this movie managed to surprise me and be unpredictable at each turn.

(ii) The Outlaws (2017, Dir. Kang Yun-sung) This is the first movie in The Roundup series (the fourth movie is due out in 2024) and I have to say this is my favourite Korean action franchise. Ma Dong Seok is perfect, and the action sequences are mind blowing. It has the perfect balance of crime, action and comedy, and is a definite recommendation if you're looking for a good Asian crime movie.

(iii) Evil Dead Rise (2023, Dir. Lee Cronin) I absolutely love the Evil Dead franchise, and I had initially been a little wary at this sequel due to the fact they were taking the deadite insanity into an apartment block instead of the usual little cottage in the woods. I am so glad I was wrong, because this movie was probably the best horror to come out of 2023. The cast were amazing (Morgan Davies was a stand out) and it managed to feel like an Evil Dead film but with a fresh perspective.

(iv) Dark Harvest (2023, Dir. David Slade) Okay, I couldn't find a gif from the movie so y'all will have to make do with this still image. Now, I fully expected Dark Harvest to be a lame b-movie with terrible effects and a lame storyline, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! It managed to keep me captivated, and it was extremely aesthetically pleasing. I'd love a sequel with Emily returning to town.

(v) Five Nights at Freddy's (2023, Dir. Emma Tammi) Gosh, I was so happy when I enjoyed this! I am a huge FNAF fan (though for a while I kept it on the downlow due to Cawthon's support of Trump/the Republican party) and I adore the lore, as wild and complicated as it is. The movie really managed to keep me captivated, and kept me guessing, whilst still staying true to the original canon. I cannot wait for the second installment.

(vi) Guns Akimbo (2019, Dir. Jason Lei Howden) This was a wild and fantastic film. I love watching Daniel Radcliffe get further and further away from the HP movies and prove that he's a great actor. Also, I just love Samara Weaving.

(vii) The Meg 2: The Trench (2023, Ben Wheatley) Yeah, I'm surprised to see this on my list, too. This movie was just so much fun. That's all. The effects were great, the acting was pretty good, and I just like watching sharks take out humans. IF YOU DON'T WANT EATEN BY A SEA CREATURE, STAY OUT OF THE SEA.

(viii) Ichi the Killer (2001, Dir. Takashi Miike) I don't know why it took me over 20 years to finally watch this classic, but I ended up thoroughly enjoying it! The acting was insane, the story was batshit crazy, and the effects were fantastic. I'd expect nothing less from Takashi Miike, tbh.

(ix) Salo, or 120 Days of Sodom (1975, Dir. Pier Paolo Pasolini) Okay, hear me out - was this one of my favourite movies of the year? No, it really wasn't. However, it's the movie that has probably left the biggest scar on my mental psyche of the year, therefore I had to include it. I've been fascinated by Marquis De Sade ever since I saw Quills years ago, but I never watched this movie because I knew it would do something to my brain. If you've seen the movie (or even read the book), I'm sure you understand what I mean when I saw one chapter in particular REALLY fucked me up to the point I couldn't eat chocolate for quite some time afterwards, and I struggle to not throw up when cleaning my cat's litter box these days. It takes a lot for a movie to scar me in a way that makes it pop into my mind every now and then, and this movie did that. However, I'd like to add that the point of the film isn't just to shock, but I am terrible at witing coherent analysis. If you haven't seen this movie, I would suggest doing a little research before watching, just to make sure you can handle it; it is full of triggers that I don't even want to mention because I'll probably get blacklisted. But yes. Whilst it may not be a favourite of the year, it sure left a huge impact on me.

(x) Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022, Dir. Daniel Scheinert, Daniel Kwan) I think everyone loves this movie, but I was surprised at how much I loved it! The whole message of the movie is just so brutal and honest, and whilst I know that it's probably people of Asian heritage that can relate to it the most, I feel like we all can find something in the relationships that we can relate to. The cast were fantastic and I'm so glad to see Ke Huy Quan on screen again! Heartwarming, sad, and absolutely hilarious.

Crystal: Hello everyone, and welcome to LookatmeTV, the reality program that we have been working on for a long time and is now here. It is a great honor for me and-

Crystal: - to host this program and meet everyone on the set!

DG: As you are all aware, we have collected 10 candidates with us today to face the challenges we have set for them and to see if those challenges may spark enmity amongst them.

Crystal : Our ten candidates are now in different rooms where they must write their first impressions of any random contestant, and then we will mix the letters and everyone must guess if the letter they picked is about them or no .

[Cut to a yellow room, where Vin-jin is seated in the middle, gazing at the paper, the envelope, and the pen placed in front of him]

Vin-jin: Can I write about my first impressions of you two?

DG: We are not candidates, so no, but you are welcome to tell us if you like.

Vin-jin: you appear to be a [beep] phony [beep]. [beep] hole to me, and the same goes to her.

Crystal: We value your feedback! Please continue with the task now.

Vin-jin : none of the contestants are interesting except that blonde haired guy with glasses , he seems like one crazy [beep].

DG : stop cursing

Vin-jin : you better not be censoring the [beep] am saying 

Crystal : you heard him editors 

[ a big ‘ we don't care ‘ with red letters appeared on the screen ]

[ the camera cut to Euntae this time in a pink room writing aggressively in a paper ] 

DG : For a first impression, he has a lot to say...

Crystal : better than the previous contestant.

[Random clips of the other participants writing and thinking began to play until it was eventually time to mix the letters together and give them to the contestants]

Crystal : We are finally going to open these letters! everyone step up and choose one and read it out loud. 

DG : let's start wil eli jang 

[ eli picks up the yellow envelope from the box ]

Eli : You look like some rich creepy guy who is obsessed with taxidermy , I do hope you get voted out in the first round…

Eli : am not sure this letter is for me..

DG : who do you think it is for?

Eli : uh wouldn't it be rude-

DG : its okay no one would get offended

Crystal : are you trying to cause problems Diego?

DG : quite bold of you to assume that-

Goo : i want to read a letter next!

[ goo picks up a pink envelope from the box ]

Goo : woah thats so long

Goo : i love your blonde hair so much and you look like a prince- i don't need to read the rest this is obviously written for me.

Vin-jin : no way that letter is written for you ,you look like some hobo

Goo : excuse me

[ goo picked up the box and threw it at vin-jin ]

[vin-jin dodged and the box hit gun ]

Gun : oh for (beep) sake

[ gun started chasing after goo with the box ]

[All peacefulness has abruptly vanished]

DG : wow its been 20 minutes only

Crystal : Everyone calm down

DG : you really think thats gonna work

Crystal : DG just leave me alone

[ in the background daniel decided to pick a green envelope from the floor ]

Daniel : you are really handsome and cute ? i wonder who wrote that

Jay : ......

Daniel : oh thank you so much jay!

Crystal [ in the edge of losing her sanity ] : he didnt even talk-

Zack : move aside you are stepping on a letter

[ Zack picks up a black letter from the floor]

NO BC PPL TILTINT THEIR HESDA IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME AND JUST PERKING YHRIR HEADS LIKE ANY MOVEMENT OF PPLS HEADA is so special to me it shows attention to details and emotion and desire to KNOW and be present in the moment and it’s just… so reassuring despite it being such a small gesture and i have realized over the years that i do it subconsciously with people i love and strangers that i click withINLVOE TJAT DETAIL i will use it in every fic ever idc if it’s repetitive i don’t care. i often tilt my head and whatnot bc im actually very nonverbal in real life usually (im just tired all the time) so i usually hum or give short responses and use my head to gesture the rest of what i need to convey liek this is so important to me guys…

I LOOOOVE writing kissing scenes but also no bc they get repetitive and yeah and also that tattoo hehehehsjwhhd i had to soft launch dani having the same tattoo LOL

i tried to make the whole death thing a little less repetitive and kind of brush over it until it got worse and worse and more serious and the whole concept was cheaply influenced by a movie where the two love interests know that they’re dying bc of their sickness but then i added a set, concrete date for dani and yn to die LOL idk lowk my creative juices were being juiced with this one… i was THINKING … and yeah i tried to fit in as many details and things that you’d have to remember form the beginning or middle idk i just rly like how i structured this one (the pacing is stilll iffy to me but wtv( bc i tried to have things tie together well and whatnot

makeout scene had me giggling and blushing while reading it was inspired by the anon who sent a makeout ask like smth ab “imagine making out w dani for the first time” and originally it wasn’t going to be there but i think it added to their bond and tension and lalalala yeah

no i couldn’t make them.die without knowing they’re meant to be but i had to try to figure out how to make the reveal angsty and i was like might as well have them figure out before they die and SOEAKJNG OF WHICH it took me a good amount of time while at work and making drinks to think of a way for them to die idk this story was so spontaneous and changed a lotLOL

and yes the whole beach thing was lowk inspired by summer strike bc i like the small town environment and how cute the beach is i haven’t even finished the drama im on ep like eight and haven’t watched since a few months ago LOL but i think the beach is just so calming and small towns r just sooo relaxing and nice compared tot he city (that being said i will always be a city girl…) idk beach city energy is just so wonderful and fits dani bc she grew up in newcastle and her whole vlog kinda gave me ideas for the world building and whatnot

i’m glad u love it!! and also just to mention ab the whole personal thing and living

i project a lot into my work and what i put down on the doc. idk if u can tell but i see a lot of beauty in things because i feel like its not worth dying if youre missing out on the intimacy of being loved and loving back plus just general interactions and platonic bonds built (ex: hyein and mrs lee) so like ywaaahh im glad you want to live!! there’s so much out there to experience and trust i understand exactly how u feel i looooowk have a lot of my own problems but writing helps me point out my dreams and things i find wonderful which makes me happy and then ppl enjoy the things that i romanticize and it makes me so so so so happy LOL

did u actually cry like many ppl r saying they cried or shed a tear and idk if i beleive it bc is it REALLT. that sad and emotional (maybe i just critics my writing tm) but yeah IM SO HAPPY THAT U ENJOYED!!!

Fandom Shenanigans (01/05/2024)

I decided to start the Korean drama Mad Dog. I've only completed episode one so far. But I'm hung up on how different Yoo Ji Tae looks. Because this man went from this.

To this in Vigilante

Granted, there's a six year gap between Mad Dog and Vigilante. I'm talking the year the dramas were released. Not the character ages. Just in case I confused people. 😅

In episode one of Mad Dog, his character Choi Kang Woo seems a lot softer than his character Cho Heon in Vigilante. So, that tells me this actor is pretty versatile. This is the second drama I've seen him in.

I was surprised to see Jo Jae Yoon as the silly and flirty Park Soon Jung/Cheetah. He was Dr. Daniel Lee in Mouse. I thought he did a pretty good job as Dr. lee. I'll have to continue Mad Dog(as planned)to see how he does with Park Soon Jung.

I know I'm only on episode one at the moment. But... I don't like Woo Do Hwan's character Kim Min Joon. Maybe later on he'll become a likable character for me. Right now, not so much. 😅 I'll admit this is the third drama I've watched that Woo Do Hwan stars in.

This is just the thoughts running through my head right now. 🤣
