Mmm I haven’t been drawing ship art bc I’ve been busy with making refs but after trying to figure out how to draw Kanan’s head here is an extremely sketchy kanamari dood (my sister loves them LMAO)

I love them (I ship the third years with each other bc I can’t decide) and that HUG SCENE AHHHGH MAKES ME WANT TO CRY EVERY TIME

The Mari and Kanan stuff was heavy and hard-hitting for me as well from what I can recall. Yet despite that, this is what got to me first.

Part of it was the brief "shit, is she going to drown herself?" scare, part of it the way Chika shifted from trying to be positive to finally letting out all the negativity and despair she'd been clearly holding in throughout the episode, and part of it was watching it dubbed because Jad Saxton just fucking threw herself into this part without holding back, but Chika's breakdown at the climax of episode 8 really cut me deep, and while it doesn't produce tears now that I know it's coming, it still feels like a sledgehammer to the gut just like the entire damn episode did from the moment that 0 was shown on-screen.

Giving us episode 9 immediately afterwards just shows that when Jukki Hanada is not feeling merciful, he will not be merciful.

It took School Idol Project until close to the end of its second season to finally make me cry.

Sunshine just managed it with episode 9.

Holy fuck, that was spectacular. Mari and Kanon's relationship falling apart, the messiness of their reunion, the failures on both their parts to be honest with each other about how much they cared about each other... in just twenty four minutes, the two most incidental characters in this cast became its two most fully realized. I didn't even like Mari at all going into this episode, but this was so good I'm fully turned around on her now.
