wc: 1.6k content warning: highschool, hoshiumi x reader, confession, fluff, not proofread
୭ ˚. ᵎᵎ.
The sound of the school bell ringing, beginning your first week back after winter break. The crisp and chill air grazing the surface of your skin as you came late to class due to traffic.
Sliding open the classroom door, out of breath, scanning your classroom looking back at the familiar faces. You make your way step by step and plop down into your seat, fully blown out from attempting to make it to class on time.
“Hey, you’re like.. so late y’know that?” a voice whispering out to you, looking up it was your class partner and somewhat close friend, Hoshiumi Korai.
When the year first started, you knew absolutely nothing about this white headed guy. It was coincidence that your teacher assigned you guys seats right next to each other because the chemistry you guys had was amazing!
Sitting in the back made it even worse. You two just couldn’t stop giggling and laughing while you paid little to no attention to the lessons. Hoshiumi was just so funny as a person, combined with you, you guys were the disruptive kids in class alright. If the teacher ever caught you guys, he’d storm over and smack the wood out of your table.
Of course you didn’t know him outside of your classroom though. You never knew he was on the boys volleyball team, nevertheless popular with the students at school because of his high status in the sports department. All you saw was a cute and silly.. Maybe just a tad bit short, but a great guy.
“What makes you think I don’t know Hoshiumi,” rolling your eyes at him with a devious smile before reaching towards your backpack to take out your notebook and pen.
As class went by, you’re jotting down his notes while trying to multitask and understand the lesson your teacher’s currently teaching. Well.. more like relying on Hoshiumi’s notes to get all caught up first.
You didn’t notice but, you did feel his eyes burn into your scalp. You couldn't tell if it’s because he’s a bit annoyed that you’re copying his whole journal at this point, or if it’s because he’s just waiting to write down more of the notes.
“What does this say?” keeping your voice at a low level, tilting your head towards him. His expression jolted, as if he just got out of a trance with a slight trail of pink left on his cheeks.
“Oh.. uh. It says that–” before he could finish his words, the bell rang for lunch.
Sighing, you close your notebook and put it away.  You’re gonna see him after lunch anyway, there’s a chance you could still ask for notes.
“Sorry! Lunch break, gonna meet up with my friends. See you in a bit!” Sending him off with a wave before dashing out of the classroom to go see your friends.
Lunch break goes by quick when you’re out with your friends. Speaking of friends.. Hoshiumi was also with his own old buddy who’s also on Kamomedai’s volleyball team. Hirugami Sachiro, he’s also a very excellent player who’s able to make Hoshiumi shine brighter. Overall, they’ve been long time best friends as they know each other best.
“Hirugami.. Do you think she knows?” Hoshiumi asks, biting down on his lower lip while he fiddles with his fingers.
“Know what?” Hirugami’s a bit concerned. He knows who you are, but what type of question was he asking him this time…
Hoshiumi’s never been the type to be so anxious, he’s typically calm and collected with a bit of ethusiasm. Not to mention, he’s never told Hirugami that he has had this developing liking towards you that makes his heart race and his palms sweaty by just sitting next to you in class.
“That like… she likes me back” Hoshiumi mutters out under his breath, a bit humiliated that he has to come out of his shell to talk about his love interest. Hirgumi’s gagged, his mouth is wide open in shock.
“Wait. You like her? As in like like??” Leaning in, he can feel the heat and flushness radiating off of Hoshiumi’s face which had now became a flushed pink.
“Yeah I’ll admit.. I do. And I want to tell to her” his murky light eyes shifting in nervousness.
Hirugami sits down next to him, placing a hand on his back to calm him down.
“When do you plan to confess?” doting eyes assuring him that it’ll be okay.
“Um.. well I haven’t really thought about that but, maybe.. By the end of this week,” looking up to search for an answer.
So many thoughts and imaginative scenarios ran through Hoshiumi’s mind trying to think of the situation that’d be best to tell you his feelings. Hirugami is surprised how sudden Hoshiumi wants to tell you about his growing liking towards you. Especially it being right after winter break, nevertheless in the middle of the school year.
“I think you should. Since you know, we’re gonna have to start practicing for volleyball now that spring is coming. If things go wrong, then we’ll be busy playing our hearts out trying to reach nationals. If things go well, then you got yourself two things you love the most” Hirugami’s words struck his mind.
Taking in Hirugami’s words, he agrees. He is right. Overall, this was a one time chance. Hoshiumi would rather know what would happen than not confess at all. There, his heart was set. At the end of the week, after school, was when he’d profess his love to you.
The day Friday rolls by, he can’t help but act stiff and nonchalant in class. He’s making you think that either something’s wrong or that he’s been constipated all day.
When the last school bell of the day rang with the warm sun setting through the windows as the crisp wind blew by. Everyone’s packing up and making their way out of the classroom. One by one, the room started to empty while you both took your time cramming up your backpacks with your school supplies.
“Hey, can you stay back with me for a bit?” Hoshiumi’s eyes making contact with yours, a gentle smile spread on his face while he placed his bag on his desk.
“Uh.. sure! Just give me a moment to finish packing” accepting his subtle advances.
Stalling for time, waiting for the classroom to just be you and him. He’s watching you load up your bag with your notebooks and pencils, wishing you’d go slower while his heart feels like it’s sinking in anxiety. He’s zoning out, wondering what could go wrong before you snapped him back to reality.
“So- what was it you wanted me to stay back for?” wrapping the backpack strap around your shoulder. Staring at him with a content expression whilst adjusting the bands to your comfort.
“Oh, well. I know we kinda met this school year but..” looking down with his white lashes fluttering at the floor.
“I think that you’re really funny, pretty, and overall just a great person. And that I may or may not.. Have a crush on you..” stretching out his words while swallowing hard.
His eccentric face has gone from stern to soft and gushy, followed with blush dusted upon his face. He’s pink and shy, fiddling with his fingers once more as he waited for any sort of verbal reaction from you.
Looking up through his snow white lashes, he’s gazing at your facial expressions. You can’t help but be stoked to know that your everyday class partner whom you’ve met by chance, developed a liking towards you. The daily mere exposure that your teacher’s assigned seating had led up to this moment.
“I don’t know what to say..” whispering out with a dull look on your face, eyes still wide in amazement.
“You don’t have to like me back that way, um.. Look. I just really feel like I had to tell you that I like you–” stopping him in his tracks when he looked at you once more.
This time, with the corners of your mouth curling up in delight. Hoshiumi was quick to judge with your one reaction before realizing you felt the same.
“No it’s not like that! ..I like you too Hoshiumi.” Clasping your hands on his, eyes filled with joy knowing that you both felt the same way with each other.
Bringing you in for a hug, you can feel his jaw move up and down with the words “really?” nodding in response before pulling back. Face to face, you can’t help but now be a bit timid and delighted with what just happened.
“Soo.. what are we now?” breaking the tension for a brief moment to confirm your relationship status. A little bit fearful to see what he’d say since he just confessed his love for you.
“Oh I don’t know.. A couple?” reverting back to his usual self, he roars out loud and playfully like he always does in class. His infectious emotions spreading over to you.
Hoshiumi’s reaching his hand towards you, gesturing you to hold his hand as you accept his offer. You’re swinging your hands together in joy as you walk out of the classroom. Hirugami’s watching from the sliver of his class door while you two pass by his class, a faint smile appearing, ready to hear about Hoshiumi’s news next Monday.
Walking you home safe, Hoshiumi’s more than just happy with the choice he made despite the chances of you liking him back being slim. His light eyes couldn’t stop watching you talk and laugh with him, smiling the whole time till he dropped you off.

The art of flirting
word count; 1583 – f!reader
Tumblr media
Everyone else on Kamomedai’s volleyball team would probably say that their second-year manager’s relationship with Hoshiumi Korai was very flirty. However, you and Korai saw it more as a rivalry. You would always be bickering back and forth, throwing insults and annoying comments at each other like it was breathing. Being a manager was truly rewarding, but you and the one-man army simply couldn’t get along.
When Korai stepped out of the locker room, very ready to get on the bus back so he could rest, he saw you. His eyes always found you, even if the room was filled with other people. You were there to make sure all the boys came safely out of the locker room and went in the direction of the bus instead of wandering off.
Korai automatically scoffs and adjusts his bag up on his shoulder. “What a difficult job you have,” he said sarcastically, raising a brow as he walked over to look at the notepad you were writing on. You jumped slightly at his sudden presence and looked up, but Korai was surprised when you first met his eyes and then looked up at his hair. And to top it off, you blushed. It looked sweet on your soft skin, making the boy a bit dazed even though he was frowning.
You were flustered because he wore his hair down after a shower.
“It would’ve been easy if I didn’t have to look at your ugly face all the time,” you said, but it sounded much less annoyed than usual. The warm colour on your face made you much less convincing.
“Good one, tomato face,” he said back and rolled his eyes, stepping past you towards the doors. You looked at him over your shoulder, mentally beating yourself up at how ridiculous that was while also getting another good look at him because when did Hoshiumi get so handsome?
The short boy sat down in the bus seat beside Hirugami with a heavy sigh. His friend raised an eyebrow. “I assume you met y/n on your way out?” he asked rhetorically, amused with how he crossed his arms stubbornly.
“She’s so freaking annoying, looked at my undone hair and suddenly acted all bothered,” he grumbled, making faces at the seat in front of him from thinking about it.
Hirugami almost got annoyed with how oblivious his friend could be. Obviously, you two found each other attractive and refused to admit it. After all this time, you finally revealed a crack in your resolve, yet all Korai saw was a challenge. “Probably thought you looked hot,” he said casually, looking out the window where you followed the last players out the door, laughing at something one of them said.
Korai was looking as well, but his eyes widened at Hirugami’s theory. Now his cheeks were even redder than yours were earlier as he grumbled something under his breath and turned away, staring at the floor instead. “What do you know anyways...”
Tumblr media
However, there was no denying – despite your continuous attempts – how the atmosphere changed around you two after that. Perhaps even you two could admit it was flirty now, as you laughed at his missed serve during practice and he came over to playfully punch your upper arm and mess up your hair before going back to the practice game. There was always a light air of laughter around you now that wasn’t there before, a discreet way to tell the other please, don’t stop giving me your attention!
Who could blame him for never doing his hair after showering anymore to watch your red cheeks and smile at you before going home for the day? All so he could be recharged for another day of foolery knowing he still had your attention.
And who could blame you for targeting his height with your teasing just so he would come closer to you and make you repeat it to his face? All so you could bat your eyelashes and then push him away while the others gaped at how much differently he reacted when you did it.
Hirugami wasn’t sure which one was more frustrating, before or now. Because both of you were still too stubborn to admit your feelings first. Will he intervene? No! Maybe... Most definitely.
He started with his best friend. Korai was telling him about some observations from their last match at lunch when Hirugami very obviously diverted his attention elsewhere. Korai followed his gaze and found you, smiling and laughing with your friends like you always do. With a small tsk, he turned back around quickly. “Am I boring you?” he asked with the usual attitude.
“Think that guy likes her?” Korai had to ignore how frustrating it was to have a question answered with a question in favour of turning back to where you were. Hirugami smiled at the shift in Korai’s expression.
Korai never took the time to look at your friends, not when he could be looking at you. So he hadn’t really noticed how some of your friends were guys and one of them was leaning particularly close at the moment. It shouldn’t annoy him, because he totally doesn’t like you like that, but it did. “I don’t care.” he insisted, but it wasn’t very convincing when he didn’t stop staring.
Hirugami let out a fake dramatic sigh, spooning another portion of rice into his mouth. “Doesn’t matter, I heard that she likes someone in the volleyball club anyways,” he said as if it was just a throwaway line. Of course, it wasn’t just that to Korai, whose neck looked like it could have snapped from how quickly he turned back to his friend. He was squinting, as if trying to spot any hints of a lie on his face.
“Whatever.” Hirugami’s job was done here, now he just had to talk to you. Unless Korai got to you first, that is. His friend wasn’t exactly known as a patient guy.
Tumblr media
The middle blocker passed by you in the hallway on the way to the volleyball club, and he thought fate might be with him. “Y/n, wait up!” he said and fell into step with you while you smiled at him. “Korai was looking for you earlier.”
“He was?” you asked, making Hirugami smile even more.
“Think he wanted to ask you something,” he added casually, and he could swear you walked with a spring in your step now.
You stood beside Korai while they had a break, giving him his water bottle last and wondering what he had wanted to ask you earlier. “So what’s up?” you asked, making him look at you with a raised eyebrow. That was unusually civil of you.
“Nothing, weirdo,” he answered. Maybe Hirugami shouldn’t have intervened…
“Oh, okay,” you said, suddenly looking oddly dejected. Part of you was embarrassed at the hope you had felt when you heard he wanted to talk to you. You’re supposed to deny any feelings, but it was getting more and more difficult every day. Korai was facing the court but didn’t stop looking at you in the corner of his eyes.
Silence fell over you as you tried to think of something else to do, but the other managers were already hard at work. “You look good with your hair like that,” Korai said, making you look at him quite stunned, but he was already jogging back out on the court as the coach blew the whistle.
It made you dizzy. You were thinking constantly about how confusing Korai was today. Did you do something wrong? Did you do something right?
Once again, Korai didn’t style his hair after practice, looking for your attention on his way out of the locker room. He walked over to you while you were gathering your stuff to leave. “Who is it?”
You stop your movement of trying to fit the stupid shoes in your bag, slowly turning your head to look at the boy you wished wasn’t so handsome. “Who’s the dumbest person in this room? I’m looking right at him.” you quipped. It wasn’t a very good insult, but it was all you could manage in your state of attraction mixed with confusion.
“Ha ha. No, who do you like on the team?” he said, or more like insisted. You straightened up and a blush covered your cheeks the way he liked, but he was looking at you with such a deep frown that you felt nervous.
“I like all of you. Even though you’re a bit of a turd sometimes,” you answered childishly.
“You should like me more.” It was a confusing statement, and now you were both just staring at each other as if trying to decipher what the other one was thinking.
“Why?” you finally asked, nose scrunching as you gained some attitude back.
“Because I like you more. It’s only fair,” he said like it wasn’t a confession. It was.
“Fine, then I like you more,” you said stubbornly. If Hirugami saw your matching frowns right now, he would probably laugh.
“Good.”
“Great.” And then Korai couldn’t take it anymore. Curse you and your sweet red cheeks. He put his hands on the sides of your face, thumbs rubbing over the soft skin, and the second he saw how your expression softened, he pulled you in for a kiss.
Fortunately, Hirugami didn’t miss this part. He chuckled under his breath and shook his head before leaving the gym. “Finally.”

"No, I don't!"
"You like me."
"I don't!!"
The members of Kamomedai are watching the scene unfold before them with a bored expression, it's been days ever since Sachiro figured out who was slipping confession letters to his locker and it was no other than you, their manager.
"Just admit that you like me and I'll be your boyfriend."
"Hng.."
Sachiro clasp his hands together and broke out into a fit of laughter and the others could only roll their eyes, finally the never ending chase have come to an end.
"Ugh, whatever! I'm leaving!"
"Ah- wait up!"
Sachiro ran up to you and when he did, he engulf you to a hug which you didn't bother struggling and he showered kisses to your cheeks. Well, he likes you too. Waaaay before you start liking him.

WITH EACH FLAW — hirugami sachirou
Tumblr media
In which Hirugami believed everyone around him was perfect. And he wanted nothing but to be like them. Especially when you were also one in his eyes.
Hirugami Sachirou always strived for perfection.
Ever since he saw the way his older brother got into prestigious schools, well-known to be the star athlete, beating even his upperclassmen — Sachirou believed he could do the same. He always adored volleyball. Seeing how those boys and girls his age were flying so high to either block the incoming ball, or spike through the opponent’s field.
It was always a mesmerising sight. Especially the tears in those eyes after a match. Whether their team wins or loses, each drop of it becomes a proof of their hard work.
He wanted to be a part of it so bad. To feel the euphoria, the fiery emotion of those who play volleyball passionately. It took him years to realise that maybe, he wasn’t cut out for it.
His calloused fingers subconsciously caressed his left knuckles. Covered with gauze as he once again, accidentally scraped the back of his hand to the stone walls he passed when he walked home from school.
If Hoshiumi heard about it, oh he knew he was in for a scolding. That friend of his wasn’t really the quiet type of guy. But he could be like a little angry bird yapping about how he shouldn’t have done it.
Sure Hoshiumi was calm and collected when he first saw the middle blocker do it for the first time back in the day. But when he found his friend did it again sometimes, he would grit his teeth and shout at him to take care of it.
It wasn’t like Hirugami was a man who liked to hurt himself. The act was more like some kind of punishment to himself. His subconscious mind did it. Whenever he felt like a failure that day. Probably from not being able to focus one hundred percent at practice or feeling god damn awful at some sparring match with another school.
Just like today. Stupidly, just like today, of all the time this week.
It was the time where you would visit him. The last time he saw you was three months ago. Before the start of Spring High-Nagano Prefecture Representative Playoffs. Now, Kamomedai has of course made it to the top 16, and will be participating in the Spring High National Tournament.
He wondered if you would be there too. Supporting your high school. Just like how you always did back when you wore the same uniform as his.
“I will miss you.”
The day finally came. Hirugami thought he would be ready for this moment. “It’s weird to not be able to go to school with you, Sachi.” But as he hugged you tight, patting your head to ease your mind as you sob in his arms, he realised he wasn’t.
“Hey now, it’s just a four hour ride between us.”
You had known him since diapers. Your house was basically side by side, spending every day together as both of your parents had been best friends since your family moved here. But now, you have to move again. Your father got a promotion and was assigned to Tokyo.
There was nothing you could do but follow them. Much to your dismay.
It was time for you to go. But your parents let you say goodbye to the Hirugami family. They knew how much you cherished your time here. Your childhood was a great one, filled with laughter and love from a lot of people. So for you to leave it behind, leaving Sachirou behind — it would need time for you to adjust to your new life.
The sun hadn’t even come out from its hiding place. No one could see the tears glossed in his chocolate orbs as he kept you there in his embrace. The sky was still dark. And none of you had the heart to let go of each other. “We will text each other, (Y/n). You don’t have to worry about anything.”
You nodded. He could feel it with the way your head was still snuggled deep on his chest. “I’m not going anywhere.”
He felt like his heart was so close to failing. Hirugami thought he would have time to be with you. He already made sure no boys ever get too close to you. His figure by your side was enough to intimidate them. But now, you would be a hundred miles apart.
It tortured him when he had to pull away. The footsteps of your parents reminding you and him that it was time to go. “I will see you later, (Y/n).”
There was no goodbye. He believed there wasn’t. Not when he could always take the train. Not when you could also do the same, visiting each other once in a while.
The two of you would make time.
Even though perhaps, it wouldn’t be much, but… he was glad the bond between you two never snapped. He just hoped that one day, it would be stronger. Even compared to now.
“Sachi~!” He flinched when he heard that familiar voice calling out his name. His hand immediately found its usual hiding spot – his pocket. “Hey, Sachi! Auntie said you have practice today, so I decided to check on it. Is it over?”
“Hey, (Y/n)! Yes, it’s done, actually.” There you were. Always a sight to see. His lips curled into a smile when you met him halfway. Jogging excitedly towards him once he looked at you. “Sorry.”
“Why in the world would you apologise?!” You hissed. Your banana coloured tracksuit made you look so bright under the evening sky. Then again, even if you wore all black, he would still think you were brighter than the stars up there. “I should have asked too before. I could tell my Coach that I needed to go to Nagano, he would have understood.”
You met his pace. Walking beside your childhood friend with the usual comforting atmosphere surrounding the two of you. “I am sorry too, for not being able to visit the last few months.”
“You shouldn’t have to apologise too.” He chuckled, seeing the pout that now formed on your face. “We were both in different school, different cities now. Both also teenagers who had too much on their plate. Busy with activities, right?”
Your eyes darted towards his figure. No longer on the road. Hirugami was afraid that you could see him through sometimes. Your eyes were calculating, always being able to read people’s mind with their behaviour and choice of words. But thankfully, you never poke him about it. Being mindful of his — issues.
“You’re right.”
You kicked the pebbles on the street, probably hitting yourself in the head for not being able to make time to visit. It wasn’t like you were the only one. Hirugami was supposed to be the one who went to Tokyo this month, and yet he couldn’t with how stressful the sparring matches were these days.
Even before you moved out of town, you often blamed yourself when things didn’t go how you wanted it to be. For example, in the first year of middle school. You helped your school volleyball’s team get footage of the opponent’s match. There was an option to send it, or you could pick it up.
You chose the former. But it never arrived even until the match ended.
It ended with a loss from their team, and he found you crying outside the gymnasium a few minutes after. You were not even the manager, just a girl whose best friend was a part of the volleyball team. Nothing else but that.
And yet you were so hard on yourself. Putting the blame on you, even when you weren’t the one in the field.
In a way, Hirugami realised that the two of you were similar.
Not the same, but quite mirroring each other.
Always picking on one’s flaw, the mistake that was made. Even though it was probably not something to be considered as a mistake to begin with.
The walk back home was always filled with silence. Most of the time it was. And the two of you never complained about it. The comfortable silence was one you always missed. Nagano wasn’t like Tokyo. The night wasn’t as bizarre and loud. It was peaceful here.
Just like all the time you spent with Hirugami. And oftentimes, you wondered if he knew how much of the effect that he had on your life.
“Do you want to buy something?” His voice was gentle as he pointed his hand towards the convenience store. “That one is new, and there’s a strawberry ice cream.”
“Oh, you would love that, wouldn't you?” You let out a chuckle, remembering how he used to eat that flavour every time you went out somewhere. “Sure, let’s go!”
You bought one strawberry ice cream in a cup, while he decided to go with the cone one. Unlike him, you couldn’t eat fast. You once bought the cone with him back in middle school, a chocolate flavoured one. It was all dripping down the road like some kind of blood on the pavement.
Whenever you walked past the garden near the suburb, you would be able to see it. Despite four years having passed ever since then, the remnants of such a tragic waste of an ice cream was still visible. “I can’t believe it.”
“Yeah, it’s never gone.” Hirugami knew what you meant by your exasperated sigh. You sat on the same bench from that time, and your eyes instantly went down to the tree across from you. “It’s cute, isn’t it? Only the two of us knew what the dots meant. Do you know that some kids said it was blood from scary killers that the murderer never found?”
“That thing exists?!”
“Uhuh! They believed it when their parents used it to scare them away. To make sure those kids didn’t roam around alone, you know?”
“Adults, I swear to God.”
Then another silence engulfed the two of you. You were often curious when the talkative Sachirou slowly lost its will to talk. After your parents had to move away to another town, you followed them. Despite still being in contact with your childhood friend, just like what he said, it wasn’t the same.
Not when you two, who used to spend every waking hour together, reduced to be mere friends who were one type away. You wouldn’t lie that sometimes, you missed that childhood of yours. But people come and go, indeed. You should have been grateful he never truly left.
Ever since you walked with him. Your eyes kept going to the hand that he kept inside his pocket. You wanted to ask. So many times you were curious why.
But if he didn’t want to talk about it, then, who were you to ask?
You were not that close anymore. Despite how every time you spent time with him felt like you never parted ways, you knew the bond between you two wasn’t as tight as before. It wasn’t as grandiose, getting thinner by each day that passed.
“How is your day in Tokyo?”
“Itachiyama is hella good indeed.” You whispered under your breath. Hissing a bit when the ice cream numbs your gums for a second there. “I watched the Volleyball team practise sometimes. Everyone is top notch. They came from private middle school, most of them are.”
“Anyone caught your eye?”
“There is this one guy…”
Hirugami was only trying to tease you. He didn’t expect that immediate answer. “Sakusa Kiyoomi. He’s a little bit weird, closed off and all.” He didn’t expect his heart to ache when you continued your words. “But I never saw someone as resilient as him at the court. His body’s also flexible, like a human thin metal.”
This was what he always feared ever since you moved to Tokyo. For you to find someone to admire, to spend your time with. Replacing the place that once belonged to him.
He shouldn’t have felt jealous when he saw you talking about someone else. Shouldn’t have been so upset when he never said anything regarding his feelings towards you. It was his fault for not making a move, always believing there would be a proper time for that.
Now though, for someone who could read the action that the opponent would take at the court, he couldn’t even read this predicament he had with you. He was unsure how the future would unravel. No longer he hoped things would bloom into something more between you and him.
“He sounds perfect.” He whispered, finishing the strawberry ice cream that started to drip down the pavement. “The perfect athlete, I knew him. Saw his profile in one of the magazines a few months ago.”
His voice was slightly laced with bitterness. If you notice it, he was glad you didn’t try to point it out.
Sakusa Kiyoomi. A man he never was. An athlete he could never be. He wondered what was going inside your mind when you talked about the man. There was this amusement visible on your face. He was curious, but he didn’t want to ask about it.
Hirugami was afraid that the answer — would only tear the last part of his confidence of having you.
“Perfect, huh?” You mused, your peripheral vision caught his slightly slouched figure. “I don’t think there’s ever a man who could be considered perfect. Humans were bound to have flaws.” Your friend was deep in his thoughts, probably one that ruined himself.
“Flaws, I don’t like having too much of it.”
“I know.” You whispered, barely above a whisper because you never once wanted to reveal this part of you. “It’s instinct sometimes. We want to do our best when we do something, especially the one that we love.”
“Yeah, it’s awful if I can’t do things right.’
“Is it volleyball?” Hirugami was taken aback by your question. “Or is there something else that you are trying to say to me?” The way your eyes lingered on him this time as you scoot closer to him on this small bench. “Which flaw is running in your head this time, Sachi?”
Every one of them.
He wanted to say it out loud. He wanted to just tell you that he had this huge storm that never once ended. That threw him to the ground whenever he just spread his wings to fly. And maybe, that same storm was the reason why never said anything about his feelings harboured towards you.
Because how would he be supposed to love you when even he couldn’t love himself entirely? He couldn’t give everything, not when he too was unwhole.
He could only give you slivers of his heart. And for someone who cared for him with every fibre in their being, you didn’t deserve to receive just some specks of dust.
“It’s volleyball.” He lied again. “I made a mistake today. I calculate their movement wrong. My fingertips couldn’t reach the ball on time, and—”
“Just one.” In the middle of having his mind running hundred miles per hour, he didn’t realise that you took his left hand out of his pocket. “You only made one mistake, Sachi. It was nothing compared to all of your success in the match today, I am sure of that.”
He panicked inside. The way your fingertips gently traced his covered knuckles. It warmed him up inside, but, Please don’t ask. Don’t ask about it, please. Please. Please. He wasn’t ready if he had to answer what happened.
“But I—”
“You are still the Sachi I knew since I was a kid, despite all of the flaws and mistakes you have made along the way.” Your words became a lullaby. Allowing the creepy monster residing in his head to sleep for a while. “Aren’t I the same in your eyes? I made mistakes too, Sachi, I did things that I can’t even forgive myself sometimes, but I am still your childhood friend, right?”
“Of course.” He could answer it in a heartbeat. “You will always be my — friend.”
You peered at his face, smiling softly that if he couldn’t compose himself, the tip of his ears might redden. There were so many things running inside his head. Worry, anxiety, anger, everything were addressed to himself.
Only when he was around you that sometimes, that negativity slightly pushed under the rug. He hoped that one day, he could brace himself to let you in completely.
After he healed himself, maybe he would.
After he was ready to embrace the fact that perfection wasn’t something a human should ever strive for, he would.
His chocolate orbs locked with yours. You two always ignored the physical boundary in between you two. Snuggled with each other to find comfort. Your chin rested on his shoulder, and he couldn’t help but boop your nose with his forefinger, earning a small glee to tumble down from your lips.
Hirugami was honestly unsure of how the future would unfold between you and him. He knew he had to grow, to be a better person. Before he asks you out properly, you deserve the whole part of him first.
But he didn’t have to be - perfect, now he knew that.
Because despite all of the flaws he had, you would never look at him less.

Sachirō Hirugami x Reader ''A Change Is Gonna Come''
College life has been lonely and tiresome ever since you started studying biology and chemistry.
So you do what most lonely girls in college do.
You get a pet.
Specifically a cat.
A cat with half of her right ear missing, along with her left eye. She is your everything, even though she has only been with you for three weeks since you picked her up from the local shelter.
Her raven-black fur looks very slightly brown in the sunlight every time she would lay on the window sill next to the venus flytrap plants.
In the beginning, she would not leave her transport box, hissed and tried to scratch you, whenever you got close to try and pet her.
Now, she is the most cuddly cat.
If you think about it, she has been more affectionate than usual. Rubbing against you, the wall, the chair, your fridge and even the fricking toilet.
She meows loudly in the night, driving you insane.
Now if you never had a cat in heat before, then you don’t know what hell on earth is.
Kaizoku, the name you have given her, is getting on your last nerve.
Thankfully due to your majors, you realized that Kaizoku is in heat.
Every cat owner’s worst nightmare, besides their pet getting pregnant unplanned.
Thanks to the lucky stars, a small vet clinic is just five blocks down the road, a very young owner who’d just graduated veterinary school.
Making an appointment for a previous check up for a future neutering appointment for Kaizoku, you make your way to the vet next Tuesday morning.
The morning you get up earlier to make it on time for the appointment, it seems like the little devil has vanished into thin air.
Seriously, you can’t find her anywhere!
You checked the shower, under all your furniture and even stepped on your counters to check on top of the cabinets.
It’s getting real close to the appointment time, you have to be there 15 minutes prior to sign in, it’s what the vet clinic requests.
Now you’re getting pissed.
‘’ZOKU!” You yell out in frustration.
All of sudden, a small light bulb pops up in your head.
You just remembered that the little furball LOVES cheddar cheese.
As you pretend to make a sandwich and take the cheese out of the fridge, you rustle the plastic extra loud on purpose, hoping she will come out.
And just like magic, there she pops up magically on the counter, looking at the food in your hand.
Giving her a small piece, you cautiously walk backwards to grab the carrier box for her.
Still with her chewing, you feel the side handle of it, crouching down to grab it and hide it behind your back.
Sneaking up from behind, you gently grab her and she tries to run away.
Grabbing her front legs with one hand and her back legs with the other, Kaizoku begins biting your fingers, making you almost yell out in pain but quickly shoving her naughty ass into the box, quickly closing it so she can’t escape.
Huffing out a big breath, you look at the clock on the wall and you’re about to faint when you realize, it’s in less than 10 minutes.
Grabbing the transport box, you basically sprint down the stairs in your apartment building, almost giving Kaizoku a heart attack.
Quickly getting into your small car, you try to minimize your lateness with going a little bit over the speed limit.
Finally arriving in the parking lot in front of the vet clinic, you get out and see that your cat’s eyes are insanely enlarged, hissing when you check on her.
‘’Alright, let’s do this.”
When you walk through the door, the bell above the door chimes with a cute tingle noise.
As you look around, only three people are sitting in the waiting area on the sides, with the front desk in the middle, where a blonde woman in cat scrubs is typing something on a computer.
You clear your throat and she greets you with a sunny smile.
Signing in on the clipboard on the counter, you sit on the left while the other two people across from you have a dog each on a colorful leash.
One dog is a big German shepherd that has a cone on its head with one leg wrapped in a cast.
The other dog is a lot smaller and he keeps growling at the other dog.
Kaizoku begins meowing in distress, you try to calm her down by gently talking to her.
Thankfully one of the employees calls you in immediately, telling you to follow her.
Getting up from the chair, you follow her and thank her for holding the door open for you.
Walking along the hallway you see multiple doors on the left and right side.
She stops on one of the right doors, pushing it open to let you in and tells you that the vet will be right in.
You look around in the examination room, seeing two anatomy posters of a cat and a dog on one side of the wall, with a small computer and a desk on the other side of the room.
Below the posters is a long metal table and you put the carrier box down and check on Kaizoku again.
She has her backside facing you, as if she is trying to show you the middle finger to taking her here.
Scanning some of the bones and muscles of the cat, a firm knock interrupts your reading.
A tall man with light brown hair walks in, some of his wavy hair rests on his forehead, the same color in his eyes.
He has a strong build, his light blue scrubs hugging his figure perfectly.
When he looks from his clipboard to you, he greets you with a billion dollar smile, introducing himself.
„Hi, I am Dr. Sachirō Hirugami. What can I do for you today?“ He rubs his hands from the disinfectant on the wall, taking a small peek inside the carrier box.
Calming yourself a little bit, you explain your problem to him.
„Well this is Kaizoku. I got her from the local shelter. She was a rescue from a former abusive pet owner. I have had her for almost a month now and I think the shelter forgot to mention that she is not neutered. She meows over day, at night and it’s slowly driving me mad.“
He laughs a bit at your explanation and my gosh his laugh is a voice sent straight from heaven.
It’s soft and honest and you can’t help but blush at his reaction.
„Sounds to me like Mrs. Kaizoku is in heat. And I am guessing you want to spay her?“ He smiles knowingly.
Nodding to confirm, you hope it’s not going to cost too much….
Hirugami opens the cage door and you hear a loud hissing noise.
Your heart begins to drop, you start to sweat a bit from your anxiety about what Kaizoku will do.
All you see is a black little arm trying to scratch Hirugami‘s hand.
Quickly retracting his hand, he begins to laugh at her antics.
„I am SO sorry about her behavior! I hope she didn’t get you.“ You frantically begin to apologize for your cat‘s crude behavior.
He friendly waves you off, saying it’s his job to deal with animals and he loves treating them.
Taking off the top of the box, you see Kaizoku huddled in the corner of the transport box, ears completely flat and you hear a faint growl coming from her.
Hirugami thinks for a few seconds before reaching into one of the drawers behind him, pulling out a little thin tube that looks like paste that cats can lick from, like a treat basically.
So he’s trying to bribe her and gain her trust, that’s a good approach.
Opening up the little tube, he squishes out a bit and carefully holds it out for her to sniff.
Kaizoku very cautiously moves forward, sniffing it with big round eyes, very soon starting to lick it a few times before deciding to like it.
Like A LOT.
You see her pupils getting a bit smaller, her small body visibly relaxing and you can feel yourself relaxing as well.
Gently giving her head scratches with his other big hand, he gives her a soft smile and quietly says „See? I am not so bad.“
His actions towards your cat makes your heart warm and your head fuzzy.
I mean, your vet IS hot, no one is going to deny that.
Making sure he did earn her trust, he gently takes her out of the transportation box, petting her along her chin.
The next thing you hear is deep purring and you can’t believe your ears or your eyes.
Inwardly scoffing at her all-of-sudden friendly behavior she looks highly in bliss and you can’t believe that you’re getting jealous of a fricking cat.
Untangling his stethoscope from his neck, he listens to her heartbeat, her bowel movement, her lungs and checks for any abnormalities around her body.
You’re a little worried when he looks into her eye and wants to see her mouth that she will try to scratch or bite him, nothing happens.
It’s like she is under a calming spell, not aggressive at all towards the vet.
Still in disbelief, he puts his stethoscope back around his neck and gives you a charming smile while picking Kaizoku up and petting her as he holds her close to his chest.
“Alright, what’s your magic trick?” You ask in suspicion as you watch Hirugami with squinted eyes.
He laughs and your suspiciousness, setting the black feline back into its kennel.
Walking over to the disinfectant bottle holder, Hirugami disinfects his hands and leans against the counter to talk to you.
“So from what I have observed so far, Kaizoku is a very healthy cat. You still want to spay her? Is that your final decision?”
You nod in confirmation.
Nodding his head he takes his clipboard from the wall and tells you to make a new appointment with the front desk, giving you a small wink before he leaves the examination room.
Blushing a bit, you close up the kennel door and take Kaizoku with you again to the front desk.
The same lady from earlier gives you a bright smile, along with a folded note attached to the apartment card for the next check up.
“What’s this?” You ask while pointing to the folded note.
The lady looks up from her computer, shrugging and continuing to type down.
“Dr. Hirugami told me to attach that note to your appointment card.”
“Oh uhm, okay. Thank you, have a good day.” You say as you exit the veterinarian clinic with Kaizoku.
Putting her in the passenger seat and strapping the kennel, you make your way around the car to get in the driver’s side.
As you take the note to unfold it, you read over it with wide eyes and a blush.
“I can’t wait to see you again, I know I meant to check out Kaizoku but your irresistible looks have bewitched my heart. Until next time, kitten.”

sachiro.hirugami x f!reader
cw; make out session,
"Oh c'mon! We already paid plus we'll go by groups!"
You refuse to let go on grabbing a tight hold on the railings of your school while your friends are doing the best they can, to get you off
"I rather jump down than go inside!"
It's your school's festival and your annoying friends manage to trick you on accompanying them to the second floor, where the class activities are happening. Your class decided to do a photobooth for the activity, not that much people are visiting so your class was place at the third floor.
The class that chose to do activities that got a lot of people visiting were place on second floor. For examples, cafe theme, horror booth and many more.
"You guys know I'm bad at any horror related!"
"We'll go hand in hand!"
"Nah-uh! You guys also said that last year but I was left inside."
Well, it was more likely of you running away from them since you got so scared that you let go of their hand.
"Hey guys! We all can hear you downstairs, what's up?"
"Umi-kun!"
Your friends let go of you and you sigh in relief and fixes your uniform.
"Honeybunch!"
You mentally gag and glared at your boyfriend, Sachiro, he knows how much you hate being called that but he loves to see your annoyed face.
"Oh hello sugarplum."
You smirk seeing his twisted look, if he knows what to tease you. You also know how to tease him back, two can play that game.
"Hirugami-san can you please, please, please drag your beautiful girlfriend inside the horror booth? We don't wanna waste our money y'know!"
"Hmmm horror booth huh.."
Sachiro looks at your way and you gulp seeing that nasty smirk he has on his face, before you can even run away he already have a tight grip on your hands and drag you. Hell, you can't even get yourself free from him.
"You can pay right after you get out!"
You heard the student who's assign on the entrance then you saw your friends laughing along with Korai and Gao, you wish they'll slip on to something once they are inside.
The inside is reaaaaally cold if you must say plus it's pitch black on the entrance, there's a faint light of red, green and blue. Plus, the eerie sounds they are playing. You found yourself sticking to your boyfriend's body like a leech.
"It's okay baby, I'm here."
If he said that in a normal setting where his just reading one of your mangas on your room then maybe, maybe you'll be feeling butterflies from your stomach.
"Walk faster, Hiro!"
"I am? Relax, I-"
You froze when you felt something cold touch your feet, you slowly look down and your eyes met with a bloodshot eyes and a gaping mouth of a 'ghost'
"AAAAAAHAUWOOWSNSHSUSBS!"
You scream and push him away as you ran off. Sachiro was left there standing dumbfounded, he look down and saw what scared his girlfriend and smiled. He even crouch down and pat them on the head before running after you. He couldn't care less to the people who pops out from the sides.
When he got out, he paid for his own fee and tried to look for you but you are no way in sight. Soon after Korai, Gao and together with your friends came out looking all spook out but they are only laughing.
"Guys! Did you see her inside?" Sachiro ask
"No? I thought you guys were together?"
Korai said and Sachiro felt nervous as much he wants to tease you, the thought of you crying alone makes him feel bad.
"Can I go back in? My girlfriend hasn't come out yet."
The shopkeeper nodded but just when he was about to enter, he bump into someone. Sachiro was about to say sorry when the person he bump into hug him.
"Don't leave me..."
It was you. His girlfriend, he sighs in relief and hugs you back. Kissing the crown of your head, he can feel the trembling of your body and he just hugs you tighter.
"Hey hey it's okay.."
He guided you on the side and wipe your cheeks with your tears, you pouted and cried more making Sachiro chuckle and kiss on the cheeks.
"Bubs u okay? We're sorry..."
Your friends approach you and you just nodded. When you ran off, you were fast to find the exit but someone appeared making you turn to your right and you ended up getting lost. It was like a maze inside.
"Is fine.. but don't you ever, EVER drag me there again."
You huff and cross your arms, your friends chuckles and promise they won't do it again.
"Guys we'll go on a date. See ya!"
Sachiro held your hand and drag you away from the group, he didn't even let you say your goodbyes to them.
"Hey! This is your second time dragging me away."
"Sorry"
He didn't look back at you but his hand squeeze yours and you just let him be, you found yourself standing inside a empty room. You were about to ask him what is going on, he hug you, tight.
"Can I kiss you? I'm dying to kiss you."
"What? You drag me all the way here for that?"
He pulled away but his hands are still on your waist, his light brown eyes staring right at you.
"F-Fine.. I mean, okay. You can ki- mmff!"
Your back being press against the wall while his hands travels up and down, his tongue licking at your lips begging for an entrance. The moment you part your lips, he lets out a moan that made your legs wobble.
Normally, Sachiro doesn't act this way, his usually on his tame side everyday. You just don't know on why he is aggressive today.
"Sorry.. it's just you were so cute when you were crying.."
He said when he pulled away for a bit and before you can even answer him, his kissing you again. Your moans and his mixes together, your fingers tangling on his hair, pressing your body towards him.
"Wait- fuck.."
He pulled away and finally, you got a chance to breathe. He went to the nearest table and sat on it, his legs spread out. He held his hand towards you which you gladly took and now you're trap between his legs and resume your make-out session.
Sachiro admitted later that maybe, maybe not he got turn on seeing you on that vulnerable state and how cute you were crying. You told him that you'd rather hide when you cry than to face his less tame side.
••••••••••
bonus part.☆
"Wanna go in?"
You immediately shook your head and tried to drag away your husband, away from the horror booth you guys stumbled upon inside the mall
"Sugarplum please! You wouldn't want your honeybunch to suffer right?"
His brow twitches on the choice of endearment you use, you swear to god that you saw how his lips form into a nasty smirk. Intertwining his fingers to yours, he successfully drag you inside the booth.
Needless to say, you got fuck dumb by him later at night. Is what you get for pissing him off by using those cringey words and crying when you guys got out from the booth.
