Leela sure has a funny relationship with orange. That color ended up being a sort of bad luck charm for Kaltha, what with her orange boyfriend and her assailant’s tacky orange suit and her killer’s orange pauldron

On the other hand, when I was designing Leela’s Mandalorian armor, I did envision some orange elements because of its connection with shereshoy, a trait Leela has embodied since her adoption. However, given that the only context in which she wore said armor was in her father’s nightmare of them being separated, one could argue it doesn’t have good connotations for Leela either

All I know is, I pictured Leela in a fully orange outfit and it just looked wrong. All the implications thereof were originally pure coincidence; orange is a common color for male Twi’leks, orange is an obnoxious color for a suit, stormtrooper squad leaders wear orange pauldrons, orange clashes with Leela’s teal skintone. I think that’s a neat little motif I stumbled into

I just realized, every single parent character in SITM is miserable. Kaltha lived in poverty and exploitation with only the faint hope of reuniting with her child. Com has severe trauma from prison. The Tarkays were never content with their lives. Ector Kondric’s wife and daughter are dead and he’s about to have a falling-out with his favorite child who isn’t his child. Athene and Munir were forbidden from seeing each other and raising their son as their own

My fic, Stars in Their Multitudes, is a galactic tableau of sprawling proportions. It follows a Force-sensitive reformed convict and his adopted daughter from whom he hides his past. Featuring a wide cast of characters, it explores the day-to-day life of the galactic citizenry under the rule of the Empire.

Com Narcom served nineteen years in a Republic prison for stealing to feed his family. When he got out, the Republic had become the Empire, and he didn't see much of a difference. When a kindly stranger took him in, gifted him with the resources to get back on his feet, and offered to train him as a Jedi, Com ran away out of shame, feeling unworthy to be a Jedi student. Since then, he has accrued massive amounts of wealth under fabricated identities, which he uses to help those in need.

Koss is an inspector in the Imperial police force. Born in prison to Clawdite parents and raised by the state, Koss is unflinchingly subservient to authority and will stop at nothing to preserve order in the galaxy. In his crusade to enforce the Empire's cruelty, he frequently comes into conflict with Com Narcom, seeking to put him back behind bars and put an end to his disruptive compassion.

Kaltha was cast aside by her lover after she refused to abort her unborn child. Left with no money and no connections, Kaltha was forced to leave her daughter in the care of a Weequay couple in order to seek work, a situation she had hoped would be temporary. As she struggles to survive, she holds on to the hope that she and her daughter can be reunited.

The Tarkays are the proprietors of a disreputable inn on an obscure Outer Rim world. Greedy, opportunistic, and perpetually dissatisfied with their lot in life, they attempt to swindle and cheat everyone who crosses their path. When entrusted with the care of Kaltha's daughter, they exploit the child, turning her into a household slave while bleeding her mother dry.

Leela is a bright young Twi'lek. Entrusted to the care of the cruel and conniving Tarkays, Leela is eventually rescued by a mysterious stranger who adopts her as his own. Though Leela loves her new guardian, she finds she must constantly adapt to new life changes as her father seems to be running from something, but what he is running from, he refuses to say.

Apollon Kondric, heir to a noble house, learns a shocking family secret that shatters everything he knows about his heritage, causing him to be disowned and exiled. While embarking on his education at a prestigious university, he becomes involved with a group of idealistic activists with radical ideas about the state of the galaxy.
