Krave Review - Kale-Lalu-yAHA & Matcha Hemp Cleanser

Hey guys! I have been MIA on my blog for about 4 months! I needed a break, and I am ready to blog regularly again.

In this post, I will be reviewing  Liah Yoo’s Krave creations, Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser and the Kale-Lalu-yAHA. The brand launched in December 2017 with a major bang all over social media, since the founder is a social media skincare and beauty guru! Krave only has two products in their line. However, I did hear that she will be releasing a sunscreen soon. I was thrilled that I could try the two products for myself after hearing so many great reviews about both products, let’s start with the cleanser!

The Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser is a product part of their ‘Core Series’. It comes in a tube form, and it lists the main ingredients on the front, like matcha, hemp seeds, oats, almonds, vitamin b5, and sodium PCA. That last ingredient that is listed is the sodium salt of the pyroglutamic acid (also known as PCA). PCA is a naturally occurring component of human skin and a part of the “natural moisturizing factors” (NMF) that maintain a healthy epidermis. This ingredient is a powerful humectant, non-comedogenic and non-irritating to eyes and skin. On the back of the tube, it lists the pH level of 5.0-6.0 which is considered a low pH, good for the skin. You can use this cleanser every day, morning and night. It says also says to apply on wet skin.

I used this for about 3 weeks now, and I like it a lot! It’s a no-fuss gentle cleanser that feels like a cleanser. I’ve tried morning cleansers like this where it just feels like you’re rubbing gel around, but this one actually makes a nice bit of foam and washes off clean without leaving a residue. The consistency is very much like… snot. Haha, it’s not the prettiest way to describe it, but the way it comes out and feels is pretty similar. In other words, it looks very natural and unaltered. The smell is not bad, but not great.

As for its cleansing abilities, it’s NOT a makeup cleansing product, but it’s a nice and gentle second cleanser. I definitely have to do a first round cleansing with an oil or balm cleanser and then as a last cleansing step use the cleanser. My skin feels clean and soft and not at all dry or tight after washing and drying. This is my go-to morning and minimal to no makeup day cleanser. For 120ml/4.05fl.oz tube that costs 16,000KRW/$16.00USD, it is definitely worth it!

Now it’s time to review the Kale-Lalu-yAHA! This is part of their supplement series, and it follows the same product packaging as the cleanser with the main ingredients printed on the box and tube. The main ingredients are kale, spinach, parsley, aloe, 5.25% of glycolic acid (AHA), hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5, and allatonin. The pH level is said to be around 3.5-4.0. I’ve been using it 3 times a week at night, and it’s been a pleasant experience. The first time I tried it stung a little bit, but after that, my skin adjusted to it and doesn’t sting anymore. The first day though after I used it and finished up my routine, my skin looked like GLASS! Omg, I wish I could experience that again haha. It was so good, and it’s still pretty amazing.

You only need a little bit and be gentle when you’re rubbing the cotton pad over the face. You don’t have to wash it off either. This is for sure the best AHA I’ve tried. I love when it’s time to use it. I feel like my skin feel so clean and glowing. For 200ml/6.76fl.oz of product, it costs 25,000KRW/$25.00USD.

how do you typically treat acne scarring and post hyperpigmentation? (if you’ve dealt with it, of course)

Internally :

- Drink water and herbal infusions

- Lime + water first thing in the morning

- Increase vitamin c in the diet

- make sure you’re not depleted in minerals

- eat enough protein

Externally :

- vitamin c cream during the day (its good against sun damage)

- Incorporate AHA’s slowly twice or thrice a week, at night (I like the Kale lalu yaha toner by Krave)

- try my spirulina mask, recipe is on my blog (spirulina powder + turmeric + milk) - you can do it every other day in the beginning, and then once or twice a week for maintenance

- make sure your skin is moisturized at all times, don’t let it dry up

- avoid harsh chemicals in your skincare

Know Kinds of Acids for Your Skincare, a Basic Guide

Sekarang ini, lagi marak-maraknya dunia perskincare-an berkembang. Mulai banyak produsen produk kecantikan yang mengeluarkan produk-produk kecantikannya yang tercanggih untuk membantu kita-kita semua, para cewek untuk merawat kulit kita semua. Karena produk kecantikan sudah bertambah banyak, pasti kita sering banget menemukan produk-produk skincare yang mengandung AHA, BHA, Hyaluronic Acid, dan lain sebagainya. Gak sedikit juga yang masih bingung dengan kandungan-kandungan yang ada di skincare tersebut. Sebenernya, apa sih mereka itu semua? Apa kegunaan mereka? Nah, sebelum makin banyak pertanyaan yang ada di pikiran kita, yuk kita bahas bareng-bareng disini!

1. AHA

AHA adalah singkatan dari Alpha Hydroxy Acid merupakan chemical exfoliants yang berguna untuk melepaskan sel-sel kulit mati yang ada di permukaan kulit wajah kita. Sehingga senyawa ini dikategorikan sebagai exfoliator. AHA ini bisa digunakan untuk semua jenis kulit, tetapi jadi kesayangan si pemilik kulit kering. Karna bisa membantu menghilangkan sel-sel kulit mati tetapi tetap bisa menghidrasi kulit. Produk AHA juga bisa digunakan untuk kamu yang mempunyai clogged pores maupun milia. Produk yang mengandung AHA juga bisa membantu mencerahkan kulit kamu, dan mengurangi tanda awal timbulnya fine wrinkles. Selain itu, AHA juga membantu kamu mengatasi masalah hyperpigmentation seperti melasma, dark spots, maupun bekas jerawat. Untuk penggunaan AHA sendiri, jika digunakan di pagi hari, gunakan perlindungan lebih terhadap sinar matahari. Jadi, jangan lupa pakai sunscreen ya sebelum keluar rumah!

Alpha Hydroxy Acids atau AHA sendiri mempunyai beberapa jenis-jenis, yaitu:

2. BHA

Selain AHA, ada juga BHA yaitu Beta Hydroxy Acid atau bisa juga disebut dengan Salicylic Acid. Kegunaan dari BHA adalah juga sebagai chemical exfoliants. BHA larut dalam minyak sehingga lebih menyerap hingga ke lapisan dermis. BHA sering digunakan pada produk-produk untuk kulit berjerawat, karena BHA dapat membersihkan hinga pori-pori terdalam dan mengobati jerawat. Kandungan BHA juga berguna sebagai anti inflamasi, sehingga ketika ada jerawat meradang, kandungan BHA bisa menenangkan jerawat yang ada di wajah kamu. Selain itu, BHA juga dapat mengontrol dan mengurangi minyak berlebih pada kulit kamu, sehingga mencegah terjadinya breakout di wajah kamu. Karena BHA ini dapat mengurangi produksi minyak, maka pemakaian BHA juga dapat membuat kulitmu menjadi kering. Sehingga, jangan lupa juga untuk menghidrasi kulit kamu dengan baik! 

Penggunaan AHA dan BHA dapat dilakukan dalam waktu bersamaan, tetapi lebih disarankan untuk menggunakan dalam saat yang berbeda. Seperti contohnya BHA di pagi hari dan AHA di malam hari. Untuk penggunaan BHA di pagi hari juga jangan lupa menggunakan sunscreen setelahnya.

3. Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid adalah zat yang terjadi secara alami di dalam kulit untuk menarik dan menahan kelembapan untuk kulit kita. Kegunan dari Hyaluronic Acid tentu untuk melembapkan kulit, karna kemampuannya untuk menarik kelembapan yang ada di lingkungan sekitar kita dan memberikan kelembapan tersebut untuk kulit kita. Sehingga Hyaluronic Acid ini menjadi sahabat bagi kita yang memiliki kulit kering. Kita tau bahwa kulit lembap is a must! Jika kulit kita lembap dan terhidrasi dengan baik, tentunya kulit kita akan terlihat kenyal, halus dan mengurangi timbulnya fine wrinkles.

4. L-Ascorbic Acid

L-Ascorbic Acid adalah vitamin C murni. L-Ascorbic Acid ini bisa berasal dari bahan-bahan alami seperti jeruk. Penggunaan konsentrasi kandungan ini dapat membuat kulit menjadi iritasi. Untuk kalian yang mempunyai masalah anti aging, hiperpigmentasi, bekas jerawat, kulit kusam bisa menggunakan produk dari bahan Ascorbic Acid ini. Namun, untuk yang mempunyai rosacea dan kulit sensitif sebaiknya menghindari bahan ini karena dapat menyebabkan iritasi. Kandungan ini bisa digunakan di segala jenis kulit. Penggunaan vitamin C di pagi hari juga dibarengi dengan penggunaan sunscreen.

Salah satu rahasia saya untuk mendapatkan kulit yang bersih dan sehat adalah dengan double cleansing. Produk pertama yang selalu saya gunakan adalah Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water untuk menghilangkan makeup dan kotoran di wajah sebagai tahapan pertama.

Tidak tahu kenapa, saya selalu suka dan cocok dengan produk ini. Menurut saya, micellar water ini mampu untuk membersihkan makeup dan membuat kulit tetap nyaman. Apalagi, klaim produk ini adalah aman untuk jenis kulit sensitif, berjerawat, sampai yang mempunyai masalah kulit seperti rosacea.

Nah, saat menjelang menstruasi dan juga saat menstruasi saya menggunakan Medijeal Pore-Clean Charcoal Cleansing Foam. Saya mencoba produk ini karena salah satu teman saya yang mempunyai jenis kulit berjerawat dan berminyak telah mencoba terlebih dahulu dan cocok.

Apalagi, produk ini juga mempunyai kandungan charcoal yang diklaim dapat mengatasi jerawat, membersihkan pori-pori, dan mengontrol kadar minyak agar tetap seimbang. Selain itu, kandungan charcoal juga mampu untuk mendetoksifikasi kulit agar kulit terhindar dari racun.

Selain produk yang dapat mengeksfoliasi kulit, saya juga tidak melewatkan penggunaan masker seperti Mediheal Teatree Care Solution Essential Mask EX sebagai perawatan rutin. Sebelum menstruasi saya menggunakan masker ini supaya jerawat tidak timbul.

Saya pun juga mengaplikasikan sheet mask yang mempunyai kandungan tea tree saat jerawat hormonal sudah timbul agar lebih cepat kempes. Selain kandungan tea tree yang bisa mengatasi jerawat, produk ini juga punya kandungan lain seperti minyak daun Melaleuca Alternifolia (Pohon Teh), Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract. Campuran kandungan ini diklaim dapat meredakan kemerahan, radang, iritasi, serta melembapkan kulit wajah.

Ssstt, produk yang satu ini juga menjadi produk favorit saya, lho! Selain bisa menyamarkan atau memudarkan smiling lines, produk yang satu ini juga bagus banget buat jerawat. Walaupun awalnya sempat ragu karena ada kandungan snail atau siput, ternyata setelah dicoba memang bisa mengurangi smiling lines yang ada di wajah saya.

Tidak hanya itu saja, essence ini juga bisa mengatasi jerawat hormonal. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya kandungan allantoin yang bermanfaat sebagai anti-inflamasi dan anti-iritasi.
