The official merchandise lineup has been revealed for the upcoming "Kalafina Anniversary LIVE 2025"💫[Interesting to see them use a different font. Have they lost the rights to sell merch with the old logo? In the past, there has been merch with different fonts but the main logo always remained the same. This time it's different for everything. Oh well, I should not be reading too much into it. Could have been a creative choice. The flower visual looks a lot like the one they used for the 9+ONE pamphlet, guess they didn't have much time to come up with a new design. At least all the photos in the pamphlet will be new ones so that's definitely a good thing!]

The application period for "pre-orders of on-site pickups" will start tomorrow. [They used a similar method for Kaji Fes. back in 2023. That one worked out pretty smoothly so I hope I will have no issues with this one either]

Why did I even go to bed last night??! Damn it, I lost precious time. Anways, many of you must have seen my post last night about that ominous Nikkan Sports article speculating about a possible comeback of Kalafina. I honestly thought it was fake news since it contained a ton of unconfirmed/uncredited information. However, there was lots of interesting stuff that kept me from dismissing it entirely. I mean, who would go through all the trouble coming up with details such as specific quotes or exact concert details? Turns out they mostly got the dates mixed up but the rest was true. Regarding Kalafina I've received some inquiries in relation to the most recent announcement of an upcoming Kalafina Live Concert so I'd like to use this opportunity to clarify that I, Yuki Kajiura, will not have no involvement whatsoever in this concert. Furthermore, I have not received any advance notice or explanation from the organisers or any of the group members. Given the situation, I am therefore unable to answer any questions. I apologise, but any future inquiries regarding Kalafina should be directed at the organisers and official agencies of the group members.

I believe the members of Kalafina have decided to step away from me as their producer to go on a new path that is not related to me. I had been searching for a way to work together again in the future to create new Kalafina music but that will no longer be happening. It is very unfortunate but this is the road that each member has chosen. We are all individuals searching for our personal musical path so things like this happen.

As you all know, the three of them are truly wonderful singers so I have no doubt that they will continue to deliver amazing vocals and music to their fans. I would like to express my sincere gratitude once again for the privilege and happiness of having been able to create music together with them for nearly ten years, and I wish Kalafina continued success in the future.

This may be an unnecessary remark, but… there's no way that Kalafina will no longer be able to sing their past songs just because one producer has left, and I personally don't wish that upon them.

Wow. All of this is wild. I don't even know what to say. I can hardly believe it. On one hand, I am beyond happy and excited. There's no way I will not be there for this concert and everything beyond that. But on the other hand, all the announcements make this feel a little bittersweet. The personal statements by Wakana, Keiko and Hikaru don't necessarily feel disingenuous but they sound a bit flat and forced. Sadly, there's no personal statement from Wakana yet. Obviously, the elephant in the room is Yuki Kajiura's statement and her exclusion from the entire project. The way her statement is written comes off as quite bitter, passive aggressive and honestly a little petty which doesn't bode well for the future (maybe her manager Mori asked her to phrase it in such a way to make the organisers look bad. And I can understand why she would feel frustrated at being excluded like that). Mostly, I interpret her standoffish attitude as a knee-jerk reaction or as a way to strongly distance herself from the whole thing and not so much as an attempt to bash the members (the latter half of the statement would indicate that at least). Also, she already seems to regret posting such a harsh statement and posted a couple of follow-up tweets. I truly do not understand what is going on behind the scenes to cause so much hostility between Yuki Kajiura, her management and whoever is pulling the strings for this Kalafina reunion (presumably Space Craft's management). My best guess is that Space Craft is at least somehow involved in this project since both Wakana and Satoshi Takebe are able to participate (Takebe is not affiliated with Space Craft but he's been in charge of almost all of Wakana's solo work so maybe there are some ties to the agency).It looks like Space Craft are adamant about not working together with YK (same old childish attitude). Then again, Satoshi Takebe has enough influence in the industry to organise a project like this without the help of Space Craft. Maybe Sony is also involved? I have no idea. Hope we are getting more details once the ticket lotteries start. A new Kalafina website (still being developed) has popped up and it's run by Space Craft so that's probably proof enough that they are one of the main players in all of this.

I wonder if this was a spur of the moment thing once they realised how much hype there still exists for Kalafina after that "ring your bell" performance at the FSN event...Overall, the timing is so weird, Why now? I mean, this doesn't sound like it has been in the making for a very long time based on the fact that Yuki Kajiura didn't even know about it. Keiko and Hikaru literally collaborated with her a couple of weeks ago so how did this topic not come up even once???! Wonder how it will affect future collaborations between Yuki, Keiko and Hikaru? They still have the Asia tour dates coming up in November so I can imagine it would be kinda awkward to work together after this bomb has been dropped. Will they still be covering Kalafina songs? Either way, I refuse to believe tha there has been a real falling out between any of them. It comes across like a series of unfortunate events. Maybe some miscommunication and rushed action but nothing that couldn't be cleared up with a proper conversation.

One thing I'm also curious about is whether or not Satoshi Takebe will take on the role as producer for future music (if they are even planning to go down that route?? It does sound like they might have new projects/releases in store for us...I do feel a little conflicted about that since Yuki Kajiura is such an important component of Kalafina. This is basically what I thought would happen back in 2018/2019. With someone else coming in to take charge of the music production. Back then I wasn't completely against the idea since I was convinced the girls could make it work (especially with the help of someone as established and competent as Satoshi Takebe) but it certainly wasn't my preferred option. Ughhh, I will remain open-minded for the time being. My love for Wakana, Keiko and Hikaru goes beyond anything so as of right now, I feel happy and excited. The live in January will be a celebration of Kalafina so there's no way I'm not going. If they continue to hold "tribute" concerts like this, it will mostly be a nostalgic cash-grab but hey, I'm the target group for that. They can have all my money. And I can definitely see myself supporting them in future projects even with Yuki Kajiura out of the picture. Takebe has been engaging in some surprisingly frank one-on-one discussions on Twitter and so far, it looks like certain confidentiality agreements keep him from going into detail in the matter but his involvement as of right now is limited to being a director/producer for the concert on January 15.

It goes without saying that I will not tolerate any hate towards the girls on this blog! If you are bitter that Yuki Kajiura is not involved, that's your prerogative, I'm sure this will antagonise quite a few hardcore YK fans. But please, don't shit on the members for making this decision. I'm sure they put a lot of thought into it and felt like this course of action was in everyone's best interest. They are clearly thinking about the fans, their own passion/love for Kalafina's music and obviously their careers within the industry.

December 10 ~ Wakana‘s Birthday ~

It's already Dec 10 in Japan so both Hikaru as well as Keiko used the opportunity to congratulate Wakana on her birthday in their most recent Instagram stories. Waaahhh, I have dreamed of times like this. Never thought a trivial thing like a tag was capable of making me this happy. Every day we are getting some more official interactions. The slow build-up is probably for the best because I might die when we finally get a picture or video of them together.

Keiko also shared in her fan club app "Yodel" that they had a busy day today preparing various things for the upcoming Kalafina live. They used the opportunity to once again celebrate Keiko's birthday as well as Wakana's birthday in advance.

Hi Sarah! Hope you are well! I will be in Japan on January 15th, so i can't lose the incredibile opportunity to go to the concert. I waited for the general lottery hoping that it would be aviable on the international e+ stite, but unfortunatley it seems it is not the case.

I tryed with sos japan but they are not answering me, and with bridge but they told me they are full or requests and so can't help me.

I am so sorry for the late reply. You sent this while I was travelling last week so I didn't notice the new message in my inbox. I am happy to hear that you will be in Japan next January. Of course you'd want to use that opportunity to attend the Kalafina, I totally understand.

However, I am afraid we are already at a point where it's pretty tricky to get tickets.

We have gone through all the ticketing stages and it appears like there are no more tickets left on the e+ general sale. This is actually quite surprising since I didn't expect the concert to be sold out so quickly. The venue is huge and judging from everyone's dismissive reactions on Twitter, I had assumed that not many people were actually planning to attend. Guess the mood on Twitter didn't reflect the high demand of the general public.

From what I could tell, almost everyone who applied for the Wakana/KEIKO fan club ticket lotteries won a ticket so they must have had a lot of tickets available for those. A majority of all fan club members seems to have made use of that preliminary lottery because for the subsequent Hikaru lottery, there were quite a few people who didn't manage to win a ticket. The same applies to the general lottery. I saw several tweets of people being sad that they didn't win anything during that. Unfortunately, the general lottery period was very short so it would have been necessary to contact SOSJapan or a similar service very early in advance to figure out what you needed.

The general sale was over super quickly too so there are currently no official options available.

They might have plans to offer some left-over tickets on the overseas e+ site but they haven't announced anything yet in that regard. Knowing Space Craft, they will totally ignore Kalafina's overseas fanbase so I wouldn't count on that....

I know that a lot of tickets were bought by shady resellers who are now offering them for crazy prices on some random sites but for one, that's illegal so I wouldn't recommend going down that route and two, it would be a real hassle for a foreigner to even get their hands on one of those resold tickets so meh, not the best idea.

Your best bet right now is to ask around in fandom spaces and see if anyone got spare tickets. The good news is that many people applied for more than one ticket (myself included). The bad news is that most of those people will already have found someone to give their extra tickets to (myself included).

I will ask here on this blog and see if anyone can offer a spare ticket to you. If there's no one, you will have to ask around on other sites. You should probably check out the cantaperme forum or a number of different Kalafina Facebook communities and a post on Twitter can't hurt either (although you'll have to tag everything properly so the post reaches a good amount of people).

You are very welcome! I am also super excited and happy about this reunion, it's definitely gonna be an amazing anniversary concert!🤗

As of right now, we don't have any info about a home video release. Unfortunately, we won't find out until the day of the live. If there are lots of cameras at the venue, a DVD/BD release is pretty much guaranteed but we'll have to wait and see. It would certainly be a smart move to record the concert because this way, they can make even more money. However, Space Craft aren't exactly known for making very smart decisions when it comes to Kalafina so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

It's honestly way too early to think about home video releases. Instead, Space Craft should start worrying about filling up that huge venue. We need some proper promotion before the general lotteries are opened for the public. While the girls have been reassuring us that the live will happen and that they will do their very best to make it an amazing experience for all of us, I still have this underlying fear of everything getting cancelled due to a severe lack of interest. No idea how many tickets they will have to sell to make a profit with this project but if they can't reach certain numbers, there's a possibility of things just going down the drain...

Hopefully the income from the FC lotteries will be invested in a solid marketing strategy🙏

You can tell she's definitely excited about the reunion and I can't wait to see them together again 🩵 I'm saddened by how they still have restrictions but the news, the new visual, all the things showing they're together and it's real! Sorry for the late reply. Just got back home yesterday morning and I'm still trying to fight the jet-lag XD (stayed awake as long as I could last night but I think I passed out at around 20:00🤦) Anyways...

Yes!! I have dreamed of times like these. We are being spoiled. There was never a doubt in my mind that Kalafina would return one day but to see it actually happen right in front of our eyes is honestly mind-blowing. We are taking baby steps and there's clearly still some hesitation but hell, I don't even care. We've been going through a drought for several years so I am happy about the tiniest bread crumbs. And at this point, we are WAY past bread crumbs, the girls are openly stating their excitement. We have an official promo visual, a rehearsal picture and there's even an upcoming media appearance. I cannot wait until they start posting some more pictures in earnest, hopefully some off-shots too. Keiko has mentioned on Yodel that she will eventually be sharing lots of off-shots with her fan club members so I am looking forward to that. Apparently they are having a ton of fun behind the scenes.

I had a great time in Japan, both concerts were amazing and I am glad I got the chance to see them before the end of the year. I even went all out and bought that chocolate cake which Keiko got for her birthday a couple of weeks ago. I had them add some birthday wishes for both Keiko and Wakana at the store. You are very welcome❤️ I'm really glad my blog is a source of comfort for you. I'm not a particularly social person but I do enjoy sharing my love for Kalafina with fellow fans.

Ohhh! What an interesting question. It's so hard to choose. We don't know yet what kind of live it will be so it's hard to come up with a full setlist. Depending on the atmosphere and the arrangements, the options might be quite different. In the original Nikkan Sports article about the reunion live, there is a quote from Satoshi Takebe about wanting to make this a "premium live". "Premium" could of course refer to a lot of things but I'm kinda hopeful that it means we are getting a somewhat fancy production to properly celebrate this long-awaited comeback. I'd be very happy if they did acoustic arrangements with a bunch of musicians (preferably the FBM + Konno Strings).

Assuming we are getting around 20-25 songs (most likely is 22. I'm obviously hoping for more but let's not get ahead of ourselves XD), here's my dream setlist featuring a few ballads and - coming as a surprise to no one - even more ballads〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→

This setlist caters specifically to me and probably no one else :P ※I just went through the releases in chronological order. This is definitely not how they would structure a proper concert setlist. ※Lirica, Kotonoha and Kiichigo no Shigemi ni should be on this list as well but I was running out of space. ※5, 9, 10, 24 and 25 are typically not among my all-time faves but there's so much love and history behind each of those songs that it would feel wrong to not have them included. Would be willing to sacrifice two or three though to reduce the number. ※I know, many of the big fan favourites are missing but I'm just not really into them all that much. ※No Magia because all the recent cover versions have kinda made me feel very meh about the song.

An interesting Nikkan Sports article has been floating around so I thought I'd share it with you. Please take everything with a grain of salt. I wouldn't consider Nikkan Sports a particularly gossip-y newspaper but none of this makes any sense. [Note: The initial Kalafina disbandment article was released in Sponichi I think] And there hasn't been a single official announcement so my best guess is that all of this is fake news. I'd assume it's a direct response to the most recent Kalafina hype after the Fate/stay night "ring your bell" performance. But hey, a girl can dream. Kalafina Reuinion After Disbandment in 2019

The trio with a unique harmony is determined to reunite in response to fans' wishes [October 3, 2024, 5:00 AM]

Kalafina is making a comeback. It was announced on October 2nd [Note: I am aware of no such announcement!] that the three-member vocal unit Kalafina, which disbanded in March 2019, will make a comeback. While Keiko (38), Hikaru (37), and Wakana (39) continue their solo activities, they have reunited in response to the voices of fans who have been waiting for their comeback. A special "Kalafina Anniversary LIVE 2025" will be held at Tokyo Garden Theater on January 25th (Sat) (15th)next year. Satoshi Takebe (67) will serve as the music director. Kalafina, who shone uniquely in the Japanese music scene with their gorgeous beauty and magnificent harmony, are back. The three members revealed that they decided to make a comeback, encouraged by the fans' feelings, saying, "We have received the feelings of everyone who cares for Kalafina even while doing solo activities, and have decided to sing together again as a trio." [Note: Again, no idea what the source for this could possibly be] Kalafina have been on a hiatus since February 2018, with Keiko leaving the agency in April and Hikaru leaving in October of the same year. On March 13, 2019, the group announced their disbandment on their official website, stating, "We have considered all possibilities, but it is difficult to resume activities." According to several music industry sources, the reason for the disbandment was differences of opinion among the production staff. However, the three members have not broken up, and have reunited in response to the passionate feelings of their fans. This will be the first time in seven years that the group will hold a solo concert since their 10th Anniversary Live held at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo in January 2018. The person who will support their comeback is Satoshi Takebe, who is deeply connected to the group. He served as musical director at the Toyosu Music Collaboration Team Smile Tohoku Earthquake Reconstruction Support LIVE in which Kalafina appeared with other artists in March 2018. He also produced Wakana's album "Sono Saki e" in 2023. "I will be participating as the musical director for the comeback live. The three of them will come together again and create a wonderful harmony that is unique to Kalafina. We will do our best to make it a premium live," he said enthusiastically. The three members shared, "We look forward to seeing you at the venue!" Their powerful words of anticipation raise excitement for the comeback live and their activities beyond. [Note: Not a single mention of Yuki Kajiura throughout the entire article. Very suspicious]

Setlist Notes: The new song is called “With”. I originally thought it was “Wish”. My bad! Not sure about the order of some of those songs (maybe there’s something missing too??). I had to wait till I was on the train to write everything down but at that point, all the songs had gotten mixed up in my mind. It was made worse by the fact that I didn’t immediately recognise some of them and Hikaru didn’t always introduce them either���️

That ticket holder clearfile looks so good!! Glad we got this as tokuten. A bit bummed though that there was no special design for the drink ticket😿For those who bought more than one copy of the “Mask” EP, there was a special present too, an alternative cover image. Super pretty 🤩 I mostly spent the rest of my day in Kyoto eating touristy stuff 😅And I headed to the Pokemon Center to get a few exclusive items for my nieces/nephews.

On a side note, those pink gummies were posted by Keiko earlier this week on her Yodel app. Of course I had to get them too (tho the packaging is a bit different, there’s a variety of designs. I got the same design as her today🤗)

Some highlights: I was SUPER close to the stage, it was AMAZING!!🤩 You can even see me quite clearly on the photo that Hikaru posted 🤗So glad she allowed us to take off our masks for the photo. Wouldn’t have wanted to miss that opportunity.

As always, Hikaru had an incredible stage presence, she was confident and cool, oozing charisma during each and every performance. I feel like we made eye contact several times but maybe that’s just wishful thinking 🙃Her singing was powerful and even though I didn’t always recognise the song (shame on me), I had a good time. “Under the rain” was hands down my favourite 💕So beautiful. I almost cried. She sounded better than she ever did before. The acoustic arrangement is very flattering. The upbeat songs were a ton of fun (despite sitting right in front of the speakers☠️). Hikaru literally rocked the stage🔥I almost feel bad for not being more active but I guess I’m just not the type to move a lot. (Clapping is the most I’ll usually do😅)

Sorry for adding lots of stuff on the go. I forgot to mention that Hikaru teased some upcoming solo activities for 2025. She says there are already more or less concrete plans but she will wait to make an announcement until everything is finalised. Of course she also briefly discussed the Kalafina Anniversary concert and asked who of us was planning to go. Obviously, almost everyone said that they would come, Hikaru seemed very happy about that and ensured us that they would put all of their love and strength into delivering the best possible music to us so we should all look forward to it.

"Fate/stay night" 20th Anniversary Concert ~ring your bell~

Yuki Kajiura appeared on both days of this weekend's 20th Anniversary event for "Fate/stay night". Day 1 , "Heaven's Feel", was dedicated to her as creator while Day 2, "Unlimited Blade Works" featured Hideyuki Fukasawa as main creator.

Keiko, Hikaru and Lino Leia appeared as secret guests during today's event to perform a cover version of Kalafina's "ring your bell" at the end of the show. Personally, I thought the performance was quite messy. I've never been a big fan of the song so it's hard to impress me anyway but this here really isn't my cup of tea. It seems like their vocals aren't blending together at all, very jarring how everyone is just doing their own thing. Might be the mixing/audio? Hopefully they can fix this for the CD/BD release. Lino's voice is also very out of place imo. I know some people say her voice sounds a bit like Wakana's but I definitely don't think so.
