It’s been twenty-five minutes since you sent that message. Twenty-five minutes to stew in your own frustration. To wallow in sadness, “comforted” by the insects who are harassing you.

You shouldn’t have had faith in your boyfriend. What were you thinking?

This isn’t first time behavior from Kaidou. Kaidou hasn’t been responding to your texts recently.  He had tried to “reign it in”, but old habits die hard. You don’t expect him to answer your texts all the time – he has a life outside of your relationship as well. Lately, it’s like everything else in his life is more important than any date you’d planned.

Kaidou had chosen the venue and the time to come out for your date! To go stargazing and point out all the planets Shun must save from Dark Reunion’s clutches…

Nothing irks you more than hearing the phrase “Dark Reunion”.  At first it was tolerable, a little quirk of Shun’s that you played into and adored. Now? You despised it with everything you had. Dark Reunion and the fantasy of being a hero plays an important part in Shun’s life; you just wished it wasn’t an excuse for him to flake out on you every single time.

It’s dark and the mosquitoes are flocking out in droves, souring your already terrible mood. At this point, you’re waiting for a half-hearted excuse or apology from the “best boyfriend in the world”. Kaidou will be sure to mention Dark Reunion in it as well.

As if it isn’t because of Dark Reunion that you’re waiting here in the first place.

Disagreements are normal in relationships. There’s bound to be a slip-up, a mess that irks your partner or something even simpler than that! It could be an argument about which character is the best, or which show is worse.

Your argument with Kaidou stems from Dark Reunion. Your request is relatively simple: “I understand that being a hero is important to you, but I would like to go on a few dates with Kaidou Shun, not the Jet-Black Wings”.

For Shun, it’s like you asked him to do the impossible.

“What is so hard about going on a date with me?” Kaidou had the guts to ask you out, but now going on one date with you is an issue?

“I do want to date you, but Dark Reunion might swoop in while I’m gone—”

“The world won’t end because of one date Shun! Trust me!”

“That’s what Dark Reunion wants you to believe!”

Arguing in Shun’s house is the last thing you assumed you’d be doing on the glorious weekend, but here you are. Whispering your complaints, lest his sister storm in and chew you guys out for being loud. For the nth time.

“Just one proper date! That’s all I want Shun. And no—that means Nendou and the rest can’t come.”

There’s a pause for a few seconds, like Kaidou actually has to mull over your words. To consider whether it’s worth it.

“Let’s go stargazing, [Name].”

YOU: It’s been thirty minutes. I’m leaving.

After taking his sweet time, Shun finally replies to your message when you’re already home and comfortable. 

SHUN: I am really, really, really, really sorry!!

It takes you three minutes to reply. Do you flip out? Do you accept his apology with no follow up? Do you ask him what happens? Even if the answer to that could make everything worse?

YOU: What happened?

SHUN: I thought I was on time when I went monster hunting with Saiki but when I checked again, I saw that an hour had passed I am super super super sorry.

Your hands. It sounds a bit strange, but you use your hands to do a lot of things like punch people, fight, write etc. Hands also happen to be good for handholding… not that Kaidou cares hahaah.... They could be rough from hard work, soft, you name it Kaidou is going to love it. Kaidou desperately wants to see you put a bandage on at least one hand (for scientific purposes 😫🤞🏼) and if you did, he could die happy.

Love Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

Kaidou totally orchestrates a “disaster” so he can save you from the danger and become your “knight in shining armor”. Now if only he could get the words out without stuttering… It’s either that or have an anagram delivered to you that spells out a confession from him.

Nicknames - What do they call their s/o?

Kaidou doesn’t call you any affectionate nicknames in public (unless it’s to spite Nendou) because he can’t have Dark Reunion knowing you’re his only weakness 😢. Some of Kaidou’s  personal favorite nicknames to call you in private include No 2 (if this was a video game Kaidou would obviously be No 1, but he’ll grant you the title of his sidekick, No 2) and Tiger.

You’d planned this date for a while now. A nice trip to the cinema to watch a movie with your boyfriend, Kaidou.

Now if only Kaidou could hurry up.

Your boyfriend was wasting time – the longer he stays the later you’re both going to be. It’s already 5 minutes into the movie!

“Shun, hurry up we’re late!” You’ve texted him again and again, but he hasn’t opened your messages yet.

You derail from the movie theater, instead heading to Kaidou’s house. You knock on the door and his mother opens it to invite you in.

Finally, Kaidou comes down and you can go watch your movie—

“[Name], I’ve caught wind of Dark Reunion! We have to go after them!”

What?

In hindsight, perhaps you should’ve softened your tone a bit, but you’re so upset; Kaidou had made you wait and now he wants to change plans to go hunt Dark Reunion?

Kaidou’s excited at the prospect of going to hunt Dark Reunion with you, although you BOTH planned to see a movie tonight!

“No.” Kaidou seems unbothered by your refusal, coming to tug you to go on an “adventure”.

“Shun, baby, we aren’t going to hunt Dark Reunion, we’re going to a movie!”

“I don’t want to go to a movie, I want to go catch Dark Reunion! If we don’t go now, we’re gonna miss them!”

Anger is volatile, irrational and you are angry because Kaidou just won’t listen! Does your date night not matter as much as catching Dark Reunion?

“We’re going to a movie. Movie!”

“We’re going to catch Dark Reunion! We can always watch a movie later!’ Kaidou’s almost as upset as you are but he does not have the right to be.

“I am not going to waste anymore of my time on your stupid fantasies Shun—”

Oh. Oh.

Kaidou’s so shocked he doesn’t say anything for a short second – you’re blank because you didn’t mean to blurt it out, tongue suddenly feeling heavy in your mouth.

“I don’t mean—” Kaidou takes a step back, still so shocked he can’t even speak. What do you say in a situation like this?

You say nothing as Kaidou turns and goes back to his room.

Sure, you were upset and justifiably so, but you didn’t mean to hurt his feelings either.

Perhaps leaving Kaidou alone for the night might help things. And perhaps you’d not make everything worse.

The next day at school is weird; everyone can sense the awkward tension. It’s so thick they can physically see it.

“Shun.” Your boyfriend is still refusing to look at you. “I’m sorry. I truly didn’t mean it; I was just upset we didn’t get to go on the date we’d planned for ages. It’s not stupid, I’m sorry—” your next words are interrupted by Kaidou linking his pinky with yours, your boyfriend flushing.

That’s the most PDA he’s managed to give you in public too.

“I’m sorry as well, I should’ve gone to the movie with you. After all, I’m so strong I could easily beat Dark Reunion some other time, ya know?” Kaidou flexes one arm for you to show off his “muscles” and you can’t stop the laugh that escapes your lips.

“Shun!” You throw yourself at him to press a kiss on his face, your boyfriend turning red and nearly combusting.

“Name, we’re in public!” You laugh, backing away with your hands held in a surrender gesture.

“Right, right, whatever you say.”

Maybe they like to design outfits for Kaidou and see him try them on! I'm so glad to see Saiki content, I love the series and your writing is great! 💕

You know how every good superhero needs an even better sidekick, who can somehow do everything and anything under the sun. Who’s there whenever the superhero needs assistance, or even coffee???

Yeah, that’s you. Kaidou The Jet-Black Wings is super proud of his partner sidekick for being able to make anything look good.

You’d managed to pull of faux leopard print and zebra print at the same time. If that isn’t a superpower in itself then I don’t know what is.

Kaidou’s always bragging about your skills; Nendou could be talking about ramen and Kaidou would drag the conversation to how nice your sewing skills are.

The fact that you aren’t a professional fashion stylist or designer should be an insult 🙄 fashion is nothing without you.

Kaidou’s super excited whenever you make something new or talk about your recent outfits. Some of the sewing terminology goes over his head but seeing you happy is worth it.

He’s not allowed to touch the scissors you used to cut your thread because he tried to cut cardboard with it.

Really, Kaidou had a real reason for wanting to cut cardboard – he needed a sword to fight off Dark Reunion and it was too expensive to buy one.

That was the first day you made him something actually. It wasn’t a sword, but a nice cape for the Jet-Black Wings.

Kaidou stood in front of a fan for the rest of the day, bragging about having a flowing cape.

It’s routine for you now, to make something for Kaidou to wear – its fun practice, and Kaidou absolutely loves them.

He keeps them in a separate box from the rest of his clothes; Kaidou almost punched Nendou when the dolt took one of your masterpieces from Kaidou’s school bag. Kaidou rarely brings them to school for fear that Nendou will ruin them.

You once created a Jet-Black Wings inspired costume for him and Kaidou broke into tears.
