The heat and humidity have been hitting me hard... So have a "I can't sleep bc it's so f-ing hot" messy doodle thing of Saki as Chariot from BRS (the anime)

Maybe I'll do the rest of Leo/need as the Black Rock Shooter cast (honestly what got me on the idea was seeing Shiho as Strength, then I thought about Saki and Chariot/ Kagari Izuriha) but I feel like it could be fun.

PS if u have no idea who I'm talking about u should check out the BRS anime or at least the fight scenes. I'm certain most of y'all will know who BRS is, at least.

i watched it online RELIGIOUSLY for the 8 fridays when it aired when i was 12 and even at the time as a brs fanatic i knew it was fucked up. it's in the madoka category where "middle school aged girls suffering” is the whole extent of the plot

yomi is physically (not just implied, it's canon), emotionally, and mentally abused to an extreme extent and isolated by kagari for the entire first half then is dumped entirely by her. at the end kagari is forgiven and accepted into the friend group without ever apologizing or showing any hint of regret or remorse. also her pretending to be physically disabled purely for manipulation is super ableist. the grown woman school counselor purposely pushes vulnerable students to become unstable and have breakdowns just to achieve... something (fuck if i understood what it was) in the other world. the fight scenes are the only good part bc they’re cool 3d animation but the framing of brs herself in some of them are really weird and she gets like... tortured multiple times iirc. there’s more little details that all contribute to it just being super bleak. outside of it being horrible content wise the plot itself sucks and is pointless too.

it’s just needlessly dark and centered on psychological distress in its cast of young girls for no reason other than to be edgy and fake deep. the original ova rolled with the concept (other selves that are connected to the girls’ emotional states) in a not-gross and heartfelt way and i’ll never forgive the writers for scrapping that continuity to throw out this utter mess. the tv series does not exist to me, i refuse to acknowledge it unless it’s to insult it

after 8 years the black rock shooter tv series is getting a dub & us release, huh…
