Darling Jean
pairing: jean x kaeya ft. minor jean x diluc words: 2, 767 genre: angst, break up, new moon, alcohol, childhood friends warning: implied smut note: cross posted on ao3
It’s only natural that Jean Gunnhildr and Kaeya Alberich gradually grew closer over the years as they work together to maintain peace in Monstadt while also being each other’s close confidants as they drink their nights away and reminisce over their childhood-friend-turned-estranged-acquaintance.
Yet there are times when said childhood-friend-turned-estranged-acquaintance shows up unannounced in front of Jean’s home at 3 in the morning.
And she’s never truly mastered the art of turning Diluc Ragnvindr away, even if she knows she would be forcing Kaeya Alberich to take one step back from this—whatever this is.
“Those aren’t what I think they are, are they?” A familiar smooth, velvet voice drums in the Acting Grandmaster’s ears as a kiss lands on her exposed shoulder.
The words on the report splayed across her lap is starting to look a lot like a jumbled mess of black ink and parallel lines.
“I couldn’t sleep so I thought I should review Eula’s report on the new Fatui camp they’d found set up in Brightcrown Mountains.” Jean says, not looking up from the 3rd page of the report detailing the 3 Fatui Agents and their activities for the past couple of days.
Somehow, the answer isn’t a satisfactory one to a certain Calvary Captain and he makes it known by wrapping a strong arm around her waist and rests his chin on the spot where he kissed her shoulder.
His hair tickles the side of the blonde woman’s face and she tilts her head away, unable to put more than a few centimeters between them for the hand on her hip threatens to pull her closer to him, into his taut, naked chest in a—what Jean dupes as—Kaeya Alberich bear hug.
That would distract her from finishing reading the report. And Archons know this man’s mere presence—his mere musky scent, is distracting enough as it is.
So Jean stays put. She doesn’t react nor show any sort of indication that this innocent side-hug, and chin-on-shoulder attempt to read the report in her hands, is making her heart palpitate in her chest.
“You promised you’d stop working.” Kaeya echoes the vow Jean made a few hours prior.
“I’m not working, I’m reading.”
“...reading something related to your work.”
“Just a little more, I’m almost done.” She tries to convince him but anyone who knows Jean Gunnhildr, the Acting Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius, knows that ‘a little more’ in Jean’s books means she can go on for six hours more, perched at her Sandbearer desk and focus on her work without a single break in between.
Well, even if she’s not at her office and sitting on the gifted cushioned chair by the Grandmaster Varka upon Jean’s appointment as the Acting Grandmaster, Kaeya doesn’t doubt that she’ll have no trouble focusing in this dimly lit room with only a lantern on her nightstand, naked and covered only from her waist down with a creme comforter.
So he sinks his teeth in the aforementioned renounced workaholic’s pale shoulder.
“Ah, hey! What are you, a vampire?” Jean jolts away in surprise rather than pain, the paper she was holding just a second ago now fluttering in the air and settling amongst the rest of the report in Jean’s lap whilst her hand covers the tingling spot where Kaeya left his mark.
“I could be, if you want me to. I can be anything you want me to, darling Jean.” Kaeya chuckles, no ounce of remorse in his voice as he meets Jean’s widened, disbelieved eyes.
And that’s when she truly looks at him tonight after she escaped his arms, lit up the lantern on her nightstand and pulled out the report from the top drawer of said nightstand.
It’s a mistake to look Kaeya Alberich in the eye.
It’s almost like she’s sinking in a dormant lake in winter, the tips of her fingers numbing as though kissed by invisible frost and her heartbeat begins to quicken in a feeble attempt to keep the blood flowing through her veins, before the ice freezes her over.
It doesn’t help that the silver moon rays pours through the open curtains and gives his bronze skin a mystical type of sheen—the kind that makes her want to run her tongue all over his body and taste every part of him.
And perhaps he can read her thoughts like an open book; or perhaps he’s simply the kind of man to take advantage of her stunned state—either way, the papers on her lap begin dancing in the air before they flutter down and settle on the wooden floor whilst the person the report was meant for finds herself trapped underneath a fine, muscular body.
Kaeya has one hand pinned on the side of Jean’s head while his other hand is on her chin, forcing her to look at him, him, him.
“I’m saddened, Jean. You tricked me into thinking I have you all to myself tonight with the way you were screaming my name just hours ago and now I have to compete for your attention with Eula?” A grief-stricken expression graces Kaeya’s face.
There’s no hiding the dust of pink on Jean’s cheeks now. Yet there might be hope for her heart—she hopes, no, she prays that Kaeya doesn’t hear her thumping heart as though it’s about to leap out of her chest.
“Archons, please don’t say ‘scream’ and Eula’s name in the same sentence when the real issue is your inability to quell your jealousy over some layers of papers,” Jean plays it off with a sigh, arms banding around Kaeya’s rigid shoulders and pulling him into a soft, gentle kiss.
She feels the way Kaeya’s lips curl into a content smile before he kisses her back more fervently like a sinner who thirsts for salvation.
Salvation, only this force of a woman can give.
But then a knock reverberates on the door, a hushed, hesitant, “Um, miss Jean? There’s someone at the door for you.” following suit.
The blonde breaks the kiss with a surprised gasp, throwing her gaze over at the door as though fearing it’s turned translucent and the person on the other side could see the position they were in; Kaeya on top of her, naked with only a measly layer of comforter draped over his waist, threatening to cascade and reveal his pride and joy to the world and with Jean underneath him, equally as exposed and unclothed as the day she was born.
The way Kaeya’s lips curve into a smile goes unnoticed by Jean.
She can take on a group of churls on her own but shudder at the thought of someone catching them sharing an innocent kiss.
As innocent as kissing while tangled up in bed goes.
“Go.” Kaeya whispers, placing a reassuring kiss on Jean’s forehead before he climbs off her and settles back on his side of the bed.
The kiss seems to be the catalyst that snaps the Acting Grandmaster from her initial shock; in no time, she jumps out of the bed and pulls on the silken bathrobe lying lonely on the ground, aptly tying the sash around her waist but in her haste, Kaeya notices the ample view of cleavage that Jean wouldn’t have let show if she had the time to check herself in the mirror.
“Elena.” Jean opens up the wooden oak door to a brunette maid in her long nightgown, the lantern in her hand illuminating her indecipherable frown.
Her eyes instinctively travel past Jean’s shoulders where she feels a chilling gaze on her yet contrary to his calculative eye, the tanned man in Jean’s bed simply smiles and waves at the maid and she quickly turns her gaze back to Jean.
“Someone’s here for you, miss. I told him you’re not accepting any visitors until tomorrow morning but he insists he sees you… it’s… Master Diluc from the Dawn Winery.”
As soon as the name leaves Elena’s lips, a frost seems to spread in the air. The maid visibly shivers as chills run down her spine.
“Lead Master Diluc to the drawing room, Elana and prepare a light snack with warm tea.” Jean instructs and the dark haired woman bows before retreating down the darkened hallway with rushed strides.
Jean pushes the door close and stands there, as though frozen by the diminishing frost, her back on the man staring into space. Then, he sighs, tanned fingers combing through his midnight hair.
There’s shuffling in the background as he pulls his black pants and white undershirt that hangs loosely off his shoulders, not even bothering to secure the first three buttons and leaving ample room for prying eyes to lick up the sight of his exposed tanned chest.
“I’ll be on the balcony.” He says without so much as a brush of their hands or a forehead kiss that Jean knows Kaeya is infamous for.
But before he can slip past the door and disappear into the hallway leading to the balcony with a chair and table where they spent their afternoon tea together, Jean’s hand curls around Kaeya’s ring and pinky fingers—they’re twice the size of her own fingers and Jean admittedly loves how her hands fit into his, but not right now.
Right now, she’s clinging onto his fingers as though he’s about to slip away from her grasp.
“Let’s go together.” Jean implores.
Kaeya pauses, staring at her sky blue eyes that are clouded with an indecipherable meaning.
Then, he smiles, hand pulling on the lapels of the silk robe to cover the curves of her breasts purely for his own satisfaction and he thinks the bashful way she turns her gaze from him when she realizes that her cleavage is showing a bit too much, is endearing.
“I don’t think Diluc would be as receptive to my welcoming him in a house that isn’t even mine.” He murmurs, kissing the top of her head
“It can be.”
Your house too, she means.
And convince him, she may try but no amount of pleading and begging can move the heart of this man that’s been frozen over the years after that night. She’s only barely managed to thaw it with their first, tipsy kiss and body warmth but only because she’s always held a special place in his heart and she’s the only person Kaeya’s ever opened up to.
Yet when it comes to his adoptive brother, Jean knows she can never tear down the fortress of ice built around the innermost part of this man’s heart.
Don’t worry about me, I’ll be here when you’re done talking.” Kaeya plants a kiss on the top of her head but this one feels obligatory as though it’s the only way to get her to run to the blazing, fiery red-haired man waiting in the drawing room at this ungodly hour and not waste another minute more with him.
Because deep down, perhaps he knows it shouldn’t be him that embraces this steadfast, force of a woman; it shouldn’t be him tasting her lips; it shouldn’t be him sharing her warmth in her bed.
It should be Diluc Ragnvindr, the man Jean Gunnhildr has held close to her heart for almost a decade and would have continued to do so if Kaeya Alberich hadn’t ruined everything and stole the woman his brother cherished just as much.
Jean obliges, her grasp slipping away from him and she nods.
“Then… I’ll go to Diluc.” With that, she walks past the doorway, leaving Kaeya to stare into her retreating back until she disappears at the steps.
“Fuck.” Kaeya curses.
It feels like his heart is physically breaking.
Who in their right mind would send the woman they love back into the arms of the man who loves her just as much?
A resigned chuckle leaves Kaeya’s lips and he lightly bumps his forehead against the sturdy wooden doorway.
“You’ve gone mad, Kaeya Alberich.” He whispers to himself.
***
Jean reaches the deep brown door of the drawing room that would have appeared light colored in daylight. There’s a yellowish-orange light pouring through the gap between the door and the floor and spills over her indoor slippers once she stops in front of the door.
The only thing she hears on the other side of the room is the crackle of the fireplace. If she didn’t know that her childhood-friend-turned-estranged-acquaintance is in the drawing room, she would have waltzed right in and sat by the fireplace and continued reading that report Kaeya’s been bugging her not to.
But Jean knows who lies behind this door and she’s taken enough time to collect herself. So she pushes the door open, revealing a slumped mess of unruly fiery crimson hair on the two-person couch and a strong smell of alcohol—beer, to be exact and Diluc never drinks beer—even from several feet away.
The bread and jam Jean ordered Elena to prepare sits untouched on the coffee table next to the teacup. With a wave of her hand, she tells Elena who’s been standing like a mannequin in one corner of the room, to leave.
“Master Diluc.” Jean greets flatly.
The aforementioned man’s head snaps up as though he’s hearing the calling of an angel, a savior, as if he didn’t just walk all the way here barefoot to seek out this angel.
She spots the traces of dried tears on his cheeks, swollen eyes and the faintest sniffle when he shoots up from his seat, patting his sweaty hands on his deep crimson jacket. And for a man who’s never cried in front of anyone, Jean suspects that something must’ve happened to leave him this rattled.
But she doesn’t mention it—she knows he’d appreciate it if she didn’t.
“Jean.” The name that rolls off Diluc’s tongue feels foreign, surreal even.
His hurried steps carry him to her before his mind even registers it but before his hands manage to gather her in his arms, he stops, balling his hands into fists and forcing them to stay put on his sides.
Scarlet eyes bore into Jean’s sky blue ones with indecipherable emotions.
“I heard you were looking for me, Master Diluc.” She steels her aching heart and pretends she doesn’t see the whirlwind of emotions beneath a scarlet pool of fires.
At the clear line she’s setting, Diluc throws his gaze to his worn out boots, picking apart every sign of tear and wear as though he’s just seeing them for the first time.
“Yeah… I was wondering if you’d need a sponsor for the Windblume Festival. We’ve extra barrels of wine stocked up for non-commercial purposes.” He looks up again, this time, managing to conceal most of his emotions with his stoic face.
And it comes off as a surprise to Jean, how different the Diluc now and the Diluc she first saw when she entered the room are. They’re like two separate people with completely contradictory air to them.
Yet she easily pushes away her shock with a business-like attitude the way she’s used to with Diluc when they met for anything Monstadt related matters in her office.
“You’ve already done so much for Mondstadt… I couldn’t possibly ask you to sponsor the drinks again for this year’s Windblume Festival.” Jean confesses her hesitance, her eyebrows knitting together in an endearing, overly-worried, over-thinking way that only Jean Gunnhildr manages to pull off.
The sight tucks on Diluc’s heartstrings. He wishes he could push back the stray strand of hair from her face but he simply watches it hover over her forehead.
“Jean, I want to do this. To honor Barbatos and his sacrifices.”
And when Diluc Ragnvindr sets his mind to something, there’s no dissuading him.
Jean finally lets out a defeated sigh and smiles an ‘Monstadt benefits from this more than you, but thank you, Diluc’ kind of smile.
“Sucrose and Albedo are in charge of reaching out to potential sponsors for the festival, I’ll let them know to contact you through Scullion.” Jean reaches out her hand and Diluc has half a mind to grab and pull her into him in a desperate hug.
But instead, he shakes her hand.
“No need to bother the butler, tell them to come straight to me.”
“But—”
Before she can protest, Diluc shakes his head and stops her from saying anything like him having done so much, that someone as important as him shouldn’t be made to look after the little details.
“It’s my pleasure to partake closely in the handling of wine for the festival.” He smiles, a genuine one that thanks her for not turning him away despite his unbecoming visit at three in the morning, reeking of cheap alcohol and a mind almost on the brink of destruction—which she’d woven back with her kind yet unwavering eyes.
And that’s how he knows though she holds him dear, they could never return to the way they used to be; that he’d long passed up his chance to be with her for his own selfish goals despite her relentless wait for him to return to the City of Pastorals.
***
Diluc steps out of the city house owned by the eldest daughter of the Gunnhildrs. The chilly dawn air bites on his tear-stained cheeks that’s long dried. He feels his body shiver even underneath a layer of thin silken shirt and his signature red jacket—no, rather, it’s unusually chilly.
And almost as though he feels the heat of a stare on the back of his head, Diluc cranes his neck to look at the source of where he feels the stare is coming from. Sure enough, he recognizes the silhouette of a midnight haired man with a scar that runs across his right eye, his other good eye glowing as bright as the lit cigar in his hand.
For the longest moment, time seems to stop and the two find themselves stuck in a stare down as though teleported to a ripple in time, a moment where the two stood against one another under the pouring rain, weapons in hand.
Diluc could still feel the handle of his claymore dig painfully into his palm and turn it coarse.
Yet now they face each other again and the rage and devastation he felt is no more. But he couldn’t go back to the way things were.
Things…
Things have changed.
“Kaeya?” The familiar, feminine voice calling for the dark skinned man is what makes him break their stare down.
He sets his cigar on the ashtray on the two-person table in the corner of the balcony, turning his back on the crimson haired man who now has his eyes on the lock of blonde that seems to shine golden underneath the moonlight.
And for the briefest moment, Diluc could see a flash of emotion he’d never seen Jean make before in his presence; a glint of warmth in those freeing sky blue eyes, like snuggling in front of the fireplace with a mug of chocolate milk and marshmallows.
Diluc wonders how many winters Jean and Kaeya have spent together.
“Jean, it’s cold out here, let’s go back inside.” Kaeya cautions, his voice gentle, unlike his witty, bantering self whenever he’s delivering a comeback to his equally sarcastic brother.
“I was wondering if you’re hungry, I could make us a light meal…” Jean’s soft, soothing voice fades away as she and Kaeya walk back into the triple storey house, closing the glass door behind them.
And Diluc finds himself surrounded by the echoing silence yet again. Like he always has been ever since his father died and he decided to roam the face of Teyvat for his vengeance, in exchange for his heart. He treads back to his home with the orange tinted skies and traces of sunrise in the horizon.
If reincarnation isn’t simply a man-made concept to ease the heart of a grieving lover, Diluc Ragnvindr swears to himself that he would never let Jean Gunnhildr slip out of his grasp a second time.

how i think mondstadt characters would react to traveler getting them a gift (pt. 1)
Characters featured: Diluc, Jean, Kaeya, Klee, Venti
(Also if you want your own custom story with any character from any fandom, please support me on fiverr https://www.fiverr.com/share/vP6NwZ)
Diluc
The Traveler approached Diluc's bar, the Angel's Share, with a small wrapped box in hand. Diluc, who was busy behind the counter, glanced up and nodded to acknowledge the Traveler's presence. The Traveler hesitated for a moment, then cleared their throat.
"Um, Diluc, I, uh, got you a little something," the Traveler said, offering the box to him.
Diluc raised an eyebrow, a hint of curiosity showing in his eyes. He took the box from the Traveler's hand and examined it briefly, then carefully unwrapped it. Inside was a small pendant with a gemstone that glimmered in the light.
Diluc's expression softened as he realized what the gift meant. He looked up at the Traveler and said, "Thank you. This is unexpected, but I appreciate the gesture."
The Traveler smiled, relieved that Diluc didn't seem annoyed or ungrateful. "I'm glad you like it," they said. "I thought it might suit you."
Diluc nodded, then turned his attention back to his work. "I'll wear it tonight," he said, tucking the pendant into his pocket. "Thank you again, Traveler."
Jean
The Traveler approached Jean in the courtyard of the Knights of Favonius headquarters, holding a small wrapped box. Jean looked up from her paperwork, surprised to see the Traveler there.
"Hello, Traveler," Jean said with a warm smile. "Is there something I can assist you with?"
The Traveler hesitated for a moment, then held out the box to Jean. "Actually, I wanted to give you this," they said. "It's a small token of my appreciation for all that you do for the people of Mondstadt."
Jean's expression softened as she took the box and examined it. She carefully unwrapped it and found a delicate bracelet inside.
"This is lovely," Jean said, holding the bracelet up to the light. "Thank you so much, Traveler. You really didn't have to do this."
The Traveler smiled. "I wanted to," they said. "You're always helping others, and I wanted to show my gratitude."
Jean nodded, then clasped the bracelet around her wrist. "It's beautiful," she said. "And it will remind me of your kindness every time I wear it."
The Traveler grinned, pleased that Jean liked the gift. "I'm glad," they said. "Take care, Jean."
Jean watched the Traveler depart, then returned to her paperwork with a small smile on her lips.
Kaeya
The Traveler entered the Knights of Favonius headquarters and spotted Kaeya standing by a window, gazing out at the city. They approached him cautiously, holding a small wrapped box.
"Hey, Kaeya," the Traveler said tentatively. "I, um, got you a present."
Kaeya turned to face the Traveler, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Is that so?" he said, a hint of amusement in his voice. "What could have prompted such generosity?"
The Traveler hesitated for a moment, then held out the box. "I just wanted to show my appreciation for everything you've done to help us," they said. "You've been a valuable ally."
Kaeya smirked, then accepted the box and opened it. Inside was a small, intricately carved knife.
"This is quite a gift," Kaeya said, examining the blade. "I'm almost hesitant to ask where you obtained it."
The Traveler shrugged. "I found it while exploring," they said. "I thought it might be useful to you."
Kaeya nodded, then sheathed the knife and turned back to the window. "I appreciate the sentiment, Traveler," he said. "But I must confess, I'm not quite sure what to do with this."
The Traveler laughed nervously. "Oh, uh, well, you could use it for cooking or something," they suggested.
Kaeya chuckled. "I suppose I could," he said. "Thank you, Traveler. You always know how to surprise me."
The Traveler smiled, glad that Kaeya wasn't upset by the gift. "You're welcome," they said. "Take care, Kaeya."
Kaeya watched as the Traveler left, then returned his gaze to the cityscape outside, the knife still in his hand.
Klee
The Traveler found Klee in the middle of a field, tossing a handful of colorful bombs into the air and giggling with delight. They approached her cautiously, holding a small wrapped box.
"Hey, Klee," the Traveler said tentatively. "I got you a present."
Klee turned to face the Traveler, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the box. "A present?" she exclaimed. "For me? Oh boy, oh boy, what is it?"
The Traveler handed over the box, and Klee eagerly tore off the wrapping paper. Inside was a set of rare fireworks, each one designed to make a different pattern in the sky.
Klee gasped in amazement, her eyes wide with wonder. "Wow, this is amazing!" she exclaimed. "I can't wait to try them out! Thank you so much, Traveler!"
The Traveler smiled, feeling relieved that Klee liked the present. "You're welcome, Klee," they said. "I thought you might appreciate some new fireworks."
Klee beamed with delight, then suddenly pulled out a small bundle of bombs from her pocket. "Hey, do you want to try some out with me?" she asked, holding out the explosives.
The Traveler hesitated, unsure if they were up for such a risky activity. But Klee's enthusiasm was infectious, and before they knew it, they were joining in on the fun, tossing bombs and lighting fireworks in the middle of the field.
As the sun began to set, Klee turned to the Traveler, her face flushed with excitement. "That was so much fun!" she said, giving them a hug. "Thank you for the present, Traveler. You're the best!"
The Traveler smiled, feeling grateful for the chance to make Klee happy. "You're welcome, Klee," they said. "Anytime."
Venti
The Traveler found Venti sitting atop a nearby building, strumming his lyre and humming a tune. They climbed up to join him and held out a small wrapped box.
"Hey, Venti," the Traveler said cheerfully. "I got you a present!"
Venti's eyes lit up as he accepted the box. "Oh, how exciting!" he said, tearing off the wrapping paper. "What could it be?"
Inside was a colorful scarf, made of soft wool and embroidered with intricate patterns.
"It's beautiful," Venti said, holding the scarf up to the light. "And so warm! This will be perfect for the chilly nights in Mondstadt."
The Traveler beamed with pleasure. "I'm so glad you like it," they said. "I wanted to get you something that would fit your style."
Venti grinned mischievously. "My style, eh?" he said. "I can't wait to show this off to my fans. They'll be so jealous!"
The Traveler laughed, then watched as Venti draped the scarf around his neck and struck a pose. "Thank you, my dear Traveler," he said. "This is truly a gift from the heart."
The Traveler smiled, feeling grateful to have made Venti happy. "You're welcome, Venti," they said. "I'm glad I could make you smile."
Venti strummed his lyre again, the notes ringing out into the night. "Let's make some music together soon, okay?" he said, winking at the Traveler.
The Traveler nodded eagerly, excited at the prospect of a duet with the bard. "Definitely," they said. "I can't wait."

A Little Company
summary: you just want Kaeya to feel happy on this day.
pairing: kaeya x gn!reader
type: oneshot, not proofread
warnings: mentions of death, grieving (??)
a/n: anytime I play with Kaeya I keep the volume off because his voice low-key annoys me 😭
————————★————————
Everyone knew that Dawn Winery was closed on this particular day, and no one minded. The citizens of Mondstadt knew that today was a time when Diluc went off to an unknown place and let his staff have the day off. The regular day to day person didn’t know the reason for this but those closer to the family did.
It was the day of death for Diluc and Kaeya’s father. One that Diluc always spent mourning at his father’s grave. Kaeya, however, had a different plan each year. Sometimes he would do as many commissions as his body could handle for a much grateful Katheryne. Other times he would help Jean with taxing paperwork to distract his mind. A gesture that often did not go past her head as simply a way to help out.
This time, he was told by Jean to take the day off. Insisting the Traveler and Paimon would take care of anything they needed.
“Jean, you know there’s always work to be done around here.” Kaeya commented, leaning against the wall in her office.
“And we’ve got it handled. Go take a nice stroll, maybe get a meal at Good Hunter. You could use a day off Kaeya.” Jean responded, standing up from her chair and crossing her arms.
“You’re always commenting on how lazy I am. Complaining about how I’m constantly trying to get out of work. Yet now, you want to give me the day off?” Kaeya questioned, an eyebrow raising.
“I’ve got to go help Lisa with tracking down some misplaced library books, I better not come back to you still standing in this office.” Jean answered, walking past him and trusting him to shut the door after he sees himself out.
As much as he wanted to stay there just to spite Jean, he didn’t. Deciding it would be nice to take a stroll around Starfell Valley. Possibly take care of a few Hillichurl camps if need be. Maybe even catch the sunset stop Starsnatch cliff. It was a nice idea; Kaeya decided to try it.
Evening came quicker than he anticipated. He hadn’t realized how far he had hiked until he payed attention to the more orange glow the sun started to have and the pain in his legs. His mind had been elsewhere and he wouldn’t admit it. He knew he shouldn’t have spent this day alone. Being alone only gave him time to think.
His brother always paid proper tribute to his father but Kaeya couldn’t bring himself to visit the man’s grave. It was too….it made it too real. Kaeya knew his dad was long gone, though there days he liked to pretend otherwise.
He was surprised to see you sitting atop the cliff when he arrived. A basket sat next to you which piqued his curiosity.
“A picnic hmm?” He asked, sitting down beside you and motioning to the basket. You could tell his voice lacked the buoyance that it normally possessed.
You knew what today was and you knew how Kaeya avoided it. You’d seen him for years ignore the significance of the date and hide the pain that came to his eyes.
Pulling out a parcel from the basket, you handed it to him.
“I had Sara make it for you. She told me it was your favorite and I figured you’d be hungry after climbing all this way.” You offered it to him with a small smile.
“It smells delicious…but how’d you know I was going to be here?” He responded with a bit of surprise, taking the parcel in his hands and unwrapping it.
“Because I took care of Jean’s paperwork, made sure the Traveler and Paimon would be here, and bought out all the wine in the other taverns around Mondstadt.” You confessed, watching him eat the meal you had gotten him.
You watched him raise an eyebrow in question.
“I knew you’d try to hide from it Kaeya, the significance of this day. I wasn’t going to let you. Everyone deserves the opportunity to be alone and reflect. I knew you wouldn’t chase after the opportunity to do so yourself. So, I found a way to gently push you in the right direction.”
He was a bit stunned by how you had gone out of your way to do all this for him. You forced him to take the time he knew he needed but would never give himself. For once, he was completely silent after your statement. No quick-witted remark or flirty compliment, just thoughtful silence.
“Thank you, you clearly care about me if you were willing to do all of this.” He stared, looking at you in the orange light of the setting sun.
“I do care for you and I want you to be happy. Not just temporary happiness though. You deserve the kind of happiness that comes after reflection and thought.” You replied
He desperately wanted to lighten the mood. He couldn’t possibly respond in an equally meaningful manner to you. So, he reached an arm around you to slowly open the picnic basket.
“You wouldn’t have happened to bring any of that wine you bought, would you?” A small mischievous smile danced on his lips.
You laughed lightly and gently swatted his hand away from the basket.
“Easy, easy, I was getting to that.”
Pulling out a bottle of wine from The Cat’s Tail, you handed it to him with a glass to pour it in. Getting up, you dusted your clothing off. You gave him a small wave, then turned and took a few steps in the opposite direction.
“Now wait just a moment, where are you going? Leaving me all alone with a nice meal and a bottle of wine is quite rude you know.” Kaeya stated in a gentle tone, a small chuckle coming out afterwards.
“I figured you could use a bit more time to yourself.” You turned to face him as you replied.
Looking up at you with a smirk he motioned to the spot you had been previously sitting in.
“Well since it’s you, I wouldn’t mind a little company.”

You Left Your Diary At My House
Tags: Oneshot, Kaeya x Knight!Reader, Lots Of Flirting
Warnings: Slightly Suggestive (Diary Contents)
Based on the song ‘Wait a Minute!’ by Willow Smith. You’ve lost your precious diary, only to have it returned to you by your one and only crush; Kaeya Alberich. He said he read it by accident, but did he really?
Just so y’all know, I had a dream about this HEHEHAUAH
* ˚ ✦ 972 Words • Read below the cut
╭┈─────── ೄྀ࿐ ˊˎ-╰┈➤ ❝ [19/04/23] ❞
Picture this; you possessed a diary that you carried with you everywhere, compacted with your deepest, darkest secrets. One of many, encompassed your romantic feelings for your Cavalry Captain, Kaeya Alberich.
Now imagine your distress when you found you'd misplaced your diary on your way to the Knights of Favonius headquarters. You were entirely and utterly distraught.
How could you have lost it? This is really bad, and at the headquarters of all places?!
Because you were colleagues with Kaeya, the headquarters were arguably the most disastrous spot to discover your diary was missing, as you were a knight. Except for one thing; that he's your boss. If he was aware of what you were writing concerned him...
Your job? Gone.
However, there was not much you could do about it right now.
You were stuck in perhaps the most dreary meeting imaginable with the Acting Grand Master, Jean, and an assortment of other knights. You sat there while Jean droned on about security reinforcements and city updates, and when your thoughts drifted to your poor diary, you couldn't help but feel like you were being scrutinized.
You cocked your head to see who it could be, and your heart sank instantaneously.
Kaeya was smirking at you.
You were sweating profusely. You were practically agonising over the time as the clock on the wall painstakingly ticked, hoping that this conference would conclude soon and you would be able to escape Kaeya's inspecting gaze. There's no way he was aware that something was amiss with you.
Unless... he knew about the diary.
He winked at you.
Fuck, he knows.
When Jean closed the meeting and dismissed everyone, you hurriedly stood up and surged to the door to make your way out. Unfortunately, you were too slow. In the corridor, Kaeya seized your bicep and dragged you aside into an empty room.
When you regained your composure, you realised he had cornered you against the wall, one arm besides your head and the other around your waist. It required a strenuous effort for your knees to not buckle from the close proximity of Kaeya’s body; from this vantage point, you were able to pick out the minor nuances about his facial features.
And Barbatos, did he smell phenomenal. It was reminiscent of a warm musk aroma, with a floral undertone. Whatever cologne he's wearing, it was absolutely divine.
You pinched yourself mentally. You shouldn't be thinking about how great he smelled; remembering where you were, you arched an eyebrow at him and pressed yourself harder against the wall in a vain attempt to get away from him.
“Uh, Kaeya. Did you need something...?” You hoped he couldn’t see the blush coloring your cheeks.
He did nothing except give you a once over and smirked at you, before abruptly moving away and reaching behind him. You sported a perplexed frown as he held out your diary in that lazy, complacent attitude he's continually in, and all the colour drained from your face.
He smiled jocularly at you. “You know, I read these pages... you must really love me.”
You attempted to wrestle your diary from his hands right away, but he was sharp enough to raise the book high over your head, beyond your reach. He took pleasure in seeing you flustered.
He tutted at you, clearly teasing you on purpose now. “You’re quite the naughty one, writing all these fantasies about me.”
You blushed profusely, unable to respond. Kaeya stepped closer, his arm now dropped and his words murmured by the shell of your ear.
“Tell me, do you fantasize about me at work, too?” He declared this while smiling inches from from your lips, his nose brushing against yours just barely.
You were deafeningly silent. He got you there, but you'd never confess it.
Even though you were still a sputtering mess, you had the foresight to take your diary and find it within yourself to be at least a little bit upset. “How the hell did you even get it? You shouldn’t invade other people’s privacy!”
Kaeya shrugged, as if he hadn't just blatantly asked you a humiliating question. “You dropped it on my doorstep last night. When you were helping me home from Angel’s Share?”
Your eyes shone with recognition. He was drunk, and you offered to take him home. You were beginning to rue your decision.
The words rolled off his tongue silkily. “I was going to return it to you this morning, but I couldn’t help but accidentally read your innermost thoughts.”
Damn him. You both knew that was bullshit.
Some of the tension in your shoulders poured out in ragged breaths as you tried to relax. “Are you satisfied now?”
You could still feel your cheeks flush with shame as he taunted you.
He pretended to look in thought. “Hmm... No.”
You felt the embrace of dexterous hands finding traction on your waist and velvety lips coming into contact with your own, before you could object or ask what he wanted from you. You melted in his touch, moving your lips against his in a slow rhythm.
It was relaxed, dulcet and completely unanticipated.
Kaeya pulled away from you, flashing you a teasing smile again. “You should really give me a step by step on everything you wrote about me in that little diary of yours. Perhaps I’ll make those fantasies come true.”
You felt your heart soar with delight, and you were utterly frazzled. What was he implying here? Kaeya had never made sense to you. Regardless, you wished Teyvat would devour you whole.
Your heart skipped a beat as you heard Kaeya's footsteps clicking away from you, and then he was casually strolling out the door, as if he hadn't just offered you the proposition of a lifetime.
He left your conscience scrambled.
“Wait a minute!”

The dawn winery grew warm as the night approached. The summer moths buzzed around yellow flames, their erratic wings sending dancing shadows across the walls of the study. Diluc swatted one away before returning to his paperwork. Although Elzer did most of the accounting and dealings, in strange ways running through them brought him peace. Exactly the kind he needed before bed. It had become a routine for him now, the numbers preparing him for bed the way a bedtime story does to a child.
He brushed past the last page and placed his quill down with a sigh. There were a ton of things to do tomorrow, he had to meet jean with regards to the Ruins at Stormterror’s lair he had come across, and get the adventurers guild to send someone with the carts going to Liyue. The hillichurs were causing a riot, they seemed to be everywhere, the gulli plains, building towers too close to Monstad. They were even splattered across springvale in small groups, behaving more erratic than ever. A grimness settled over his features as he leaned back into the chair. It was no wonder the doing of the Abyss order. But couldn’t seem to figure out their next move. Although them scattering hillichurls was a clear attempt at distracting the knights and the guild from the actual attack, without any leads all he could do is wait in anticipation until the calamity actually struck.
The darkness of the room bore down on him as he pondered over it. Finally standing up, he shook his head trying to concentrate on the present task at hand. Sleeping.
Diluc lived his life in a prim systematic way. At a very early age, he had mastered the art of looking after himself, quite like the art of brewing wine. He had such command over himself that his mannerisms, the faintest of gestures he made towards people, were always intentional. It had gotten him quite a courtly reputation. He wasn’t unaware of all the women and men that swooned over him in Monstad, so he kept his distance always. Nothing but polite smiles and warm words, kind but formal. Ever since he had left the knights, he had made sure he was the one who pulled the reigns of his life. He had a calculated, rational recipe for not only his wine but also to life.
Unfortunately, for Diluc, no matter how rationally he tried to live his life, something erratic would always find a way to weasel in. Quite like the wagon that was striding towards dawn winery right now. Diluc blissfully unaware of the tornado hurling at him was changing out of his day clothes. He pulled the heavy jacket off and hung it on the rack, long fingers curling to loosen the tie around his neck.
As he unbuckled the straps on his waistcoat, a faint commotion rumbled downstairs. He brushed it off at once, probably Adelainde telling off someone. But then the rumble came again. This time louder, stubbornly making its presence known. As he listened, there was a sudden cluster of raised voices followed by a loud splintering noise. That was his cue to walk down, God if it was Kaeya again-
The commotion just grew louder, elusive notorious footsteps up the stairs followed by a gaggle of haphazard ones behind.
“Diluc~” a familiar voice called out. Diluc pulled the door to his chambers open, before the master of the house could completely understand the situation open and a blur of blue clothes crash-hugged into him. Diluc almost lost his foothold stumbling a few steps back.
Your skin was feverishly warm, and the faint smell of dandelion wine clung to your hair. You buried your face in his chest sighing contently. A sudden blush reddened his cheeks, he looked past you to see both Adelinde and Elzer who had apparently chased you up, for some explanation. Adelininde was very red in her face, eyes wide as if she had seen a ghost, Elzer more composed embarrassingly holding your shoes.
Adelinde looked aghast, “You-“ she gasped out, “You just dragged that-” mid sentence she turned eyes towards Diluc, “They just bought that- that thing with them, that godawful creature!”
Diluc frowned, what now?
There was a grumble of strange noises downstairs as if someone wanted its presence known. Diluc’s eyes widened as he realized just what it was.
“You bought a hillichurl?’
You pouted, “Venti passed out so quickly! I needed company” you said averting your eyes, “So I grabbed one.”
“You what!?”
You shuffled your feet like a toddler being told off, “It was walking around close to the city walls, so I just took it.”
Diluc was having a hard time wrapping his head around all of this. “How did you even get it inside city walls? Who let you drag it in the tavern?!” he demanded; he had his reservations against the Knights but this level of incompetency was an all-time low.
“Kaeya did!” you chirped. “He said it was hilarious and even offered one of Lisa’s dresses-
Diluc groaned internally, that bastard of course it was him. He shook his head, “But what in the world did you need Lisa’s dresses for?”
“Well-uh… It’s all dressed up Master Diluc.” Elzer explained through a cough. Blessed Archons. Diluc walked out of his chamber to the end of the corridor, You sheepishly following behind.
Sure enough, as he looked down, at the bottom of his staircase sat a very battered up hillichurl, dressed in a bright violet frock and a humongous witch hat.
Diluc pressed his fingers into his temple, trying to make sense of it all. You had gotten drunk at the tavern, potentially left the half-dead bard there, and wandered around in the dark to find a hillichurl to keep company. Then you had dressed it up as Lisa and sneaked it inside Monstad only to drag it to the tavern and get It drunk too. Kaeya encouraging all of this was the least of his worries right now.
“Elzer.” He said finally, “Please get the hillichurl out of here, just leave it outside Springvale and it’ll wander back to where ever it came from once it is… uh.. Sober.”
He turned to the head maid, “Bring a glass of lemon water to my chambers please Adelinde.”
“And you,” Diluc said finally looking at the storm that had unleashed itself at dawn winery. You pulled your doe eyes to meet him and batted your eyelashes innocently. He cupped your face, fingers squishing your cheeks, "let's get you sobered up."
"Luc" you tried again, "I don't want to be sobered up I want youuu~~~" you whined. Diluc felt himself sigh as his fingers trailed down your arms. “Drink the water.” He told you pulling away.
No matter how much he wanted to cuddle, he had to get your sorry ass sobered up first. You groaned at his words, but took the glass of water in your hands anyways. Plopping down on the bed stiffly, you frowned trying to move your shoulders. You were wearing a leather harness, laced up across your chest. All of a sudden, the garment felt too stuffy. You tugged at the laces, looking up at him.
“Take it off.”
Diluc felt his eyes widen, “p-pardon?”
“It's uncomfortable,” you said, Diluc spluttered, his face turning as red as his hair.
“Oh come on.” you urged, giving the blue ribbon that held it together with a sad tug, "I'll drink the water once it's off." you supplied. Diluc gave you a knowing look, crimson eyes seeing through your weak attempts at enticing him.
"Fine," He sighed giving in, he placed his hands on your torso pulling you close, "But only because I want you to be comfortable."
You grinned at him, "yay!" the haziness in your eyes and the red undertone against your skin proved to him that you were still intoxicated. His long fingers worked on the azure straps diligently, he could see how deep your blush went as your chest rose and fell. The inner was flimsy and made of linen, hardly covering anything. He leaned in for the final strap and you kissed his nose sweetly.
"hmm?" he contested, not pulling away as you continued babbling drunkenly, " Luc~ you're warm~".
You chuckled against him and Diluc felt himself melt, he snuck a quick kiss to your cheek and then another to the brow. You grinned against him cupping his face, thumbs brushing over his cheekbones. Your fingers trailed up his neck, touching his ears lightly before burying them in his hair.
“Want to pull it free?” He asked, your eyes glistening warmly, “Can I?” He gave you a soft nod. Your fingers found the band that held his auburn locks together and you tugged it lightly easily pulling them free. They fell around his face like waves on a deep red ocean. You slung your arms around his neck, pulling yourself closer to him. You felt his arms snake down, palms pressed flush against your back, closing the space between you two. Your mouth left soft kisses along his jaw, feeling the warmth of his blush through his skin. He laughed against your hair nuzzling into your warmth.
“You’re so pretty.” you murmured against him, teeth grazing at his skin teasingly. Diluc felt the warmth spread through his body, blood rushing to his core as your hands caressed down from his neck to the tonearms and over his torso. Diluc suppressed a groan, he hated how easily you could make him a flustered mesṣ. As your mouth found his, he let your existence consume him for that moment.
He hated alcohol, but he wanted to get drunk on the lingering taste of wine on your tongue. Your fingers danced down to the edge of his waistcoat giving it a meaningful tug.
Your eyes were glazed looking at him so hopefully, "come to bed~"
He hummed against your ear, “Yes,” he admitted, “But separately. You’re still drunk.”
You groaned in defeat, pouting like a toddler. You plopped down on his mattress arms crossed, “I hate you.” You said finally, embarrassed at how your advances had no effect. Diluc couldn’t help but laugh, he cupped your face, kissing your forehead hard, “After all, it's of no use if you can’t remember all the things I would do to you, is it?”
“So unfair.” You mumbled, there was really no breaking this gentleman, and you might just owe Kaeya a full lunch at good hunter for losing the bet.

The Wedge Between Us
Pairing: Jean Gunnhildr x reader
Warning: Not proof read, Heartbreak, Part 2 not out.
A/n: I know I was meant to write lisa next but I had a better idea for Jean so I wrote a Jean fic. I'm thinking of writing a beidou or Ningguang angst next so if you have any characters male or female in mind (that are not the loli characters) comment them.

Acting Grand Master Jean was ever reliable when it came to her duties to the citizens of Mondstadt and protecting them. She was strong and could carry out a multitude of roles which would be a good reason why Grandmaster Varka left her in charge. Jean was overworked and had a lot of stress which piled up on her daily. She never really took time to look after her own health, not when there were multiple tasks she had to tend to every single day. Most of the Knights of Favonius try their best to only bring matters that they were unable to solve themselves to her. To the eyes of the ordinary people, Jean was strong, Talented beautiful, and amazing. Many could only fantasize about being in a relationship with her. But her lover would say otherwise.
Jean had had a lover when she held no title, before becoming the Acting Grandmaster. Her lover cherished her, loved her, looked after her, and made her day. But as the Acting Grandmaster, there were mainly things Jean had to neglect in order to serve Mondstadt to the best of her ability. The main thing being her health and the second being her lover. Y/n had gone countless days without seeing her lover. She had only heard about her well-being occasionally from the knights who would take pity on her and give her some insights on her lover's whereabouts for the week and when she would be back from certain expeditions. It took a toll on Y/n, not seeing your lover was depressing but knowing that they made no attempt to see you was even worse. But as a normal citizen of Mondstadt, there wasn't really much Y/n could do but watch from the sidelines. Especially with the storm terror incident ongoing and the traveler from afar, The entirety of Mondstadt seemed to rely solely on the Knights and most especially Jean. It was infuriating for them, but that was how it was now, the sparks of the relationship they felt were long forgotten now and the memories long faded, what could they do? Jean hasn't come to the home they shared in months and it was strenuous.
But here they were, at 4 in the morning on their way to the Tavern, hoping that Master Diluc would be there to pour them a glass of Dandelion wine to drown out the negative thoughts in her head. He was one of the few people you could relay your thoughts to and be given a clear answer. Upon getting to the tavern, a few voices speaking in low tones could be heard, a few of which you could recognize their voice. But the one who stuck out to you the most was Jean. She had the time to go visit her former superior but no time to visit her lover? Whether it was the pent-up frustration or the fact that it was 4am and you were sleep-deprived, you had no clue, but you could not stay any longer in Mondstadt like this. It was too much and you weren't strong enough to remain like this any longer. You returned back to your home without confrontation. Your heart felt empty and void of emotion. Maybe this was the sign you needed to move on from this part of your life.
By sunrise, you had packed a lot of your belongings and written a report. The report was of a temporary transfer of ownership of the house. You had given your house to a friend of yours for a few months while you traveled to live in Liyue for a little while. Most of the reports were submitted to the knights of Favonius and then ran through by Master Jean meaning that she would soon be aware of your approaching disappearance. You sighed briefly as you thought about how you were going to walk out of the city gates without being questioned about your whereabouts. They mostly only did this to you so that Jean could know where you were at all times and send any help or escorts if needed. But oftentimes, the back gates of Mondstadt were left unguarded and to your luck, today was one of those days.
You set out for Liyue Harbour following your map and navigating the path to the Stonegate. You pass through the Dawn Winery along the way but despite how quickly you walked, you were spotted by a certain Calvary Captain. "My, My this is interesting, I didn't expect to see you here Y/n. Are you here to see my brother? No that can't be right, which begs the question, Where are you going?" Kaeya asked suspecting something was going on. "Liyue" You say blankly. There was no point lying, Kaeya was smart and he would detect your lie in a heartbeat. "Does Jean know?" Kaeya asked in an amused tone. "No, she doesn't but she will soon," You say as you walked past him. Most of the Knights of Favonius understood the struggles that Jean was going through and this was going to break her completely. Your actions looked selfish but he could understand your point of view. "How do you think she'll take it?" Kaeya asked calmly causing you to stop moving and hesitate almost reevaluating your decision but you were doing this for yourself. All you've been doing is thinking about her and how she feels but if anyone is going to convince you to stay, it has to be her and no one else. You sigh before saying "Not well". With that, you continued your journey. All you ever think about is her and now you had to think about what was best for you.
Grandmaster Jean had felt good upon waking up that morning, things looked very peaceful and there wasn't much for her to do and after an hour or so of work, she would be able to see you after so long. She could only imagine how much more beautiful you would look. This was the only time she would get to meet with you before she would tackle the storm terror incident. The reports for the morning arrived in her office and to her surprise, there were merely 3 pieces of paper. But the knight who brought it in held a conflicted look on his face something that Jean felt that she shouldn't question at this moment. The first two papers were the usual, lost cats and all. But the last one almost made her pass out from shock. A temporary transfer of ownership of your shared house with her. None of the Knight had reported seeing you leave the city, so where could you have gone. Jean looked absolutely out of it, her eyes remained glued to a blank wall. You left, You left Mondstadt, you left her to go to a place that she didn't know. But there was a knock on her office door and Kaeya walked through sensing the atmosphere straight away. He knew Jean had found out but all he could do to help her was assure her that you were no longer in Mondstadt but you had gone to the nation of Liyue. Jean was shocked, this was so unlike you, but she never once would have thought that her position as Grandmaster would drive a wedge in your relationship, not for one second.

💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠
Fandom: •Genshin Impact•
Character(s): >Venti<
Genre: 🥀Angst to fluff☁️
⚠️Warnings⚠️: Fighting, blood.
Prompt: Venti’s memories of being a God were sealed away once he took on his human persona. Leaving the bard feeling as if something is missing.
Request?: No, but requests are welcome!
Reader’s Gender: Gender neutral. (Please know all my oneshots will have a gender neutral reader unless said otherwise. As this way, the oneshot is more inclusive to male, female, non-binary, and other readers. :D)
Notes: Reader is an electro user, you’re welcome to change it though! Reader is written to use a polearm as a weapon but once again, you’re welcome to change it. And because Venti doesn’t have his memories, he is unable to use powers nor is he able to fight.
Oneshot under the cut! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~🔹🔹🔹~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Dawn Winery. That’s where you first met him.
You were sitting down at a table, talking with Kaeya and Jean. You had decided to take the both of them out for a drink since you all had free time.
Being apart of the Knights of Favonius, you three barely got any chance to just relax. It seemed like everyday you were chasing around thieves and beating up slimes, hilichurls, mitachurls, ruin guards, you name it. So when the three of you found out you all had spare time, you decided the Dawn Winery would be a good place to relax.
“Oh my gods. You should’ve seen Kaeya when we were fighting three mitachurls. He kept freezing them because we were able to lure them into the water.” You said. Kaeya chuckled, “And then you kept cracking the ice with your electro attacks.”
Jean chuckled, “Well, you two do make a great team. Minus the fact that one of you,” She looks at Kaeya, “Sometimes sits back and watches the other.”
You and Kaeya both laughed.
Taking a sip of your dandelion wine did you hear the ring of the bell hanging above the door. Curious on who entered, you looked over.
There, stood a boy. He wore a green and tan cape that went down to the middle of his legs. A green little hat sat on the top of his head, and white stockings covered his legs. He seemed to wear a brown corset looking thing on his stomach. A brown and tan bow sat in the middle of where his collarbone was.
His blue and green eyes were so bright of color. And his hair was so dark a blue it bordered almost looking black. He had twin braids going down to his shoulders. The braids that framed his face faded to aqua colored tips.
You tilted your head, confused. You knew everyone who lived in Mondstadt and mostly everyone who visited the winery. So who was this new fellow? Perhaps he was a traveler?
“Hey, Jean, who’s that?” You gestured your head to the mysterious boy. Jean looked where you gestured, raising an eyebrow. “To be honest, I don’t know. He just appeared a few weeks ago. I saw him strumming a small harp. He was performing a little tale in trade for an apple.” She sipped her wine.
“So he’s some sort of bard?” Kaeya asked. Jean shrugged, “Must be.”
“Jean, you’re not the tiniest bit worried about what he’s doing here?” You asked.
She shook her head no, “Not really. When I approached him asking who he was, he called himself Venti. I asked what he was doing here and all he said was he didn’t remember. Poor boy must have memory loss or something.” She paused, “Besides, he wasn’t doing any harm and he didn’t run away when I went to talk to him. So I doubt he’s up to anything bad.”
Kaeya raised an eyebrow, “There are some people who act fine around us but actually end up doing something bad.” He stated.
You hummed, drinking the rest of your wine. “I’m gonna go talk to him.”
Getting up, you made your way to the mysterious bard. He was talking to Diluc, a happy smile on his face. “I’ll have a glass of danelion wine, please.” He placed down some mora.
Diluc picked the gold coins up, counting them. “You’re a few short.” He raised an eyebrow.
“I got it.” You interrupted, placing down some coins. “Keep the change.” You smiled.
Diluc grabbed the rest of the coins, “Thanks, mouse.”
You frowned, “I’m not short. And even if I am, that only makes me more flexible and quick.” You stuck your tongue out.
“Whatever you say.” He sarcastically rolled his eyes, a smirk on his face. He then went to go get a cup of dandelion wine.
“Thanks so much for helping me pay!” Venti said, smiling.
“Of course, no problem.” You smiled back. You immediately wanted to bombard the boy with questions. Why was he here? Who was he? How old was he? Did he have a family?
“I’m Venti, the bard.” He introduced himself.
“(Y/N), the Knights of Favonius.”
“A pleasure to meet you, (Y/N).”
Diluc came back, placing a glass of dandelion wine in front of the bard.
Venti took a sip of the wine before a happy smile made its way to his face. “Ahh that’s the stuff!” He giggled.
“So Venti,” You started, “Are you new around here? I’ve never seen you before.”
He hummed, “You could say that. To be honest, I can’t remember how I got here and what I’m doing. The last thing I knew, I woke up in a little forest. A small harp was near me, so I just assumed it was mine. I walked around for a bit before ending up in the city of Mondstadt. And from there, I’ve been telling tales and playing my harp in trade for money or food.”
You blinked, taking in the information just told. When you were about to say something, Venti spoke. “I often feel something is missing. Like I’ve forgotten something that’s a part of me. Something important.” He chuckled, shaking his head, “But I can’t remember what.”
You hummed in thought. The bard finished the rest of his drink, “I best get going now. Goodbye, (Y/N)! I hope to see you around!” He got off of the stool he was sitting on, heading for the door.
“Wait!” You called after him, quickly going over to him, “Do you want help getting your memories back?” You stared into his eyes.
He looked down at you, even though you were only an inch or two apart in height. “Wait really? Are you serious?”
You smiled, “Of course I’m serious!”
“How would you help me get my memories back?” He asked.
“Well, not to brag,” You slightly chuckled, “But I am a high member of the Knights of Favonius. Which means I have access to more things. Not to mention, if you get into a pickle, I can help dig you out.”
Venti smiled, “Alright then! We can start tomorrow!”
You nodded, waving to him goodbye as the two of you parted your ways.
-
You sighed, sitting down on the ground, “We’ve tried so much!”
Venti looked at you, sitting down next to you. He awkwardly chuckled, “Yeah, sorry I didn’t think it would be this difficult.”
“Let’s see,” You pulled out a small notepad, crossing off something on the list of piled things that could potentially trigger something in Venti’s mind. “We’ve tried reading the books in the library, even taking banned books and books from Lisa. We’ve tried eating all different sorts of food, going underwater, being surrounded by fire, freezing almost to death, using my electro attacks to trigger something, etc etc.”
He sighed, “Maybe we should just give up.” Though in reality, he didn’t want to give up. Even if he didn’t get his memories back, he just wanted to spend more time with you. The new memories he made he cherished as he was with you. He had realized he started to feel a certain way when you were around him. To him, when he saw how hard you were trying to help him, it made him so happy and his heart would always pick up a beat. He appreciated you so much. He loved his new memories with you, he loved how you wouldn’t quit when you set your mind to it, he loved how beautiful your electro attacks were. He soon came to realize, he loved you.
Your eyebrows furrowed, “No no,” you waved him off, “We’ll continue. I still have some things on my list.” You looked down at your notepad, flipping through the hundreds of ideas you had.
“Um. (Y/N)?”
“Shh not now Venti. I’m writing down more ideas.” You hushed him, concentrating on your notes.
“No, (Y/N) there-“
You interrupted him, “Venti I’m not accepting defeat.” You said, still not looking up.
“(Y/N) LOOK!” He yelled. Grabbing your head, tilting it up to look ahead. Your eyes widened, “What?? Ruin guards?? They’re not normally around here! Nor do they group up with each other!” You stood up, summoning your polearm. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.”
You ran towards the ruin guards, scanning the perimeter. There were three on the left, and two on the right. You quickly started chipping away at the ones on the right while dodging the ones on the left. Activating your electro attacks, you quickly spun, eyes glowing a beautiful purple. A circle of lightning striking around you multiple times.
Looking around, did you not see in time a ruin guard coming up behind you. It swung its arms around and around.
“(Y/N)! LOOK OUT!” Venti yelled. You turned around, eyes widening as multiple hits landed on your body.
You fell to the ground, covering your head, you cursed yourself for messing up. One attack after another, you were bombarded.
Venti’s head started to ache. he couldn’t help you. He couldn’t fight the ruin guards. Why couldn’t he? Why couldn’t he be any use? Why couldn’t he help you? Why did he not have powers?
Why?
Why?
Why?
All Venti could ask was why, causing his head to ache. He felt a sharp pain shoot through his body. Clutching his head, he squeezed his eyes shut. It felt as if his brain was being cut in half.
Trying to get the pain to stop. Something in the back of his mind started to pop and crack. He kept his eyes shut. Only did he open his eyes when he heard your yelp.
His pupils contracted smaller as he watched you get hit over and over again. The ruin guards spared no time for you to get up and recompose yourself. Even if you were able to get up, your weapon had been flung away from you. Unable to watch your suffering anymore, he ran to you.
He grit his teeth in frustration as he was too far away to reach you before another ruin guard hit you. Three of them were getting ready to fire.
You wiped your mouth and spat out a thick wad of blood. The ruin guards spinning their arms around and around, still hitting you. You got up, trying to get your polearm back. But before you could get to it, you were smacked back to the ground. Your eyes shut as all of a sudden, you couldn’t feel anything anymore. Your body went limp, as if you were a rag doll who was just carelessly thrown.
“(Y/N)!!!” Venti screamed. Finally, the popping and cracking in the back of his mind broke free. His eyes shut as his body started to glow. Beautiful white wings emerged from his back. Gold and white clothing adorned the top and bottom half of his body. The aqua tips of his hair glowed as patterns appeared on his body, they glowed brightly. He slowly opened his eyes, as the light around him started to fade.
“Ah…how long…have I been asleep…for?” He asked in a gentle voice. He looked down to the ground, his gentle face contorted into one of anger.
With one quick swing of his hand, he summoned multiple slashes of sharp anemo attacks, splitting the ruin guards in half and wiping them out with ease. He quickly landed on the ground and ran towards you.
Your figure was laying limp on the ground as your wounds spilled the crimson red liquid. Eyes shut, did you have a peaceful expression.
Venti gently placed his hands on your chest. He closed his eyes as he used his powers to heal you. He then picked you up before taking to the air. His wings carried him to Mondstadt where he would find a place for you to rest comfortably until you woke up.
Of course, everyone was shocked to see Lord Barbatos. But he ignored their pleads to receive a blessing from him. His main focus was making sure you were alright.
He landed in front of your little house, returning to his human persona. He carried you into your house and set you on your bed. He pulled a chair next to your bed and sat down. Every now and then, he would feel your forehead to make sure you weren’t overheating. If he felt you were too warm, he would quickly take the heavier blankets off you. And if he felt you were too cold, he would place the blankets back over you.
-
When you awoke, you saw Venti gently stroking your hand. You gasped in surprise, remembering what happened. You sat up quickly, “Venti I’m so sorry I can’t believe I lost against the ruin guards I’m trained to deal with them and yet I couldn’t which means I put your life in danger and now I’ll need more training for the Knights of Favonius I’m so sorry Venti,” You went on and on apologizing.
“Shhhh.” Venti quietly hushed you, he smiled, “It’s okay! I’m alright. Besides, you did it. You got my memories back.”
You looked at him, shocked, “Really? That’s amazing! How?”
“When you couldn’t get yourself up because of being bombarded by attacks one after another, I couldn’t stand to watch. But I couldn’t take my eyes off either. It only got worse as I saw your body go limp. I felt something pop and crack in my head. The more I watched the worse my head hurt. When I couldn’t take it anymore, my memories finally returned.” He said still smiling, “I’m Lord Barbatos. The Anemo God.”
You gasped, “Oh my goodness!” You slightly bowed your head, “It’s a pleasure to see you, Lord Barbatos.”
Venti scrunched up his nose, “Don’t ever call me that again.”
You blinked before looking up into his eyes, “Alright, Venti.” You smiled.
He seemed to get happier being called Venti. He carefully took your hand and put it on his cheek, absorbing the warmth from it.
“Hey, (Y/N)?” He said quietly.
You hummed, “Hmm?”
“I love you, (Y/N). Thank you for getting my memories back.”
Dead Wish, Dead Kiss ( genshin x reader ) #4
Summary - Teyvat, a world where those who were blessed by the archons could obtain an elemental ability to aid them in their goals. But a corrupted disease took route, plaguing all seven nations with monsterous populations that far succeeded the power in which archons bestowed.
A world in which now, the few visions that remained untainted by vampires were used for survival.
But survival isn’t what you use your vision for, nor is it what the rest of the Fatui do. Take down each archon, is what is said on the list. Take down the ones who upheld the propaganda and tarnish the world of its evil.
Starting with the Tsaritsa.
Ending with archons from Monstadt and Liyue.
The fate of the world depends on you and your fellow Harbingers, the ones who remain alive and untouched. Very few.
Pairings - gn!reader x genshin
Warnings - cussing, violence, blood
A/N - Meet your roommate :3
Taglist - @fullconstellation @melkxsh @whattaweeb
Blog Introduction has recent/older chapters
The Favonius Knights of Monstadt were vampires.
The realization struck hard when seated in the headquarters, fingers instinctively seeking the sort of comfort only a weapon could bring. The hilt on your hip that etched for blood, the only ashes to remain of the figures in front of you.
“You’ve come here to simply travel around Monstadt?”
The question held suspicion, maintaining the intensity of their crimson eyes on you. Seated on a fancy gold outlined chair, your fingers absentmindedly tapped at the armrest. “Yes,” you replied, so casually that it put their wariness to shame. “The city of Freedom, I should at least hope to have ventured there once.” Oh if only they could note the sarcasm in your voice.
For what kind of freedom was one encased in vampires?
Jean was the name of the blonde haired vampire, red eyes contrasting her pale complex. She out of all the knights seemed the most responsible, the papers littering her desk falling in heaps. You could imagine dark shades under her eyes, an overworked no doubt, you did not pity her.
“I see,” was all she said before tapping her pen on the paper atop the desk. “I was hoping to make some sort of contract, one that would benefit us both, but…” She eyed you up and down, slowly. “If your only objective is to travel, I don’t think it would work out.”
“Well, I haven’t said no yet, have I?”
There was a snicker on the other side of the room, and leaning on the bookshelf stood the taller male you’d encountered earlier. Kaeya. He gave you the impression that in contrast to Jean, he was on the more irresponsible side. Either way, the vision latched to his hip deemed him dangerous right away, you wouldn't want to face him in a fight, none of them.
It was the first time you’d seen such an oligarchy, a group of individuals so strong that they ruled the entirety of a nation on their own. With enhanced speed, strength, and senses, these visions fell into the wrong hands. The Favonius Knights were not to be messed with, they’d been capable individuals before the plague, now corrupted.
Eliminate Barbatos, that was your sole objective.
“You see,” Jean began, adjusting herself on her seat to sit up straight. “While we have the duty to protect Monstadt, we cannot do so in the daytime, or rather, its more difficult. That was proven today when we arrived late to a battle at the front gates.”
It was still impressive to have arrived at all, you wanted to say. Most vampires wouldnt even bother stepping foot out with the risk of sun, even with the excessive clothing and hats that they had worn.
“So you’d like me to take care of your battles in the daytime?”
“Yes, to report to the headquarters in the morning and attend to issues in Monstadt.” She was blunt with her words, you could tell she wasnt hiding how tedious any of it would be. “It would include some travelling, but you’d be aiding residents and masses of monsters for the majority of your time.”
“And what would I get out of it?”
“We have apartments, although you’d probably end up with a roommate, that's an adjustment we can make if you feel uncomfortable.” She held up fingers for everything she listed, “Food and water of course, there won't be any medical fees for injuries, and well… You’d be getting paid.”
“You’re trusting me in such short time?” You teased, elbows on your knees as you leaned forward. “We haven't known each other for more than an hour.”
Her face was dead serious, you again heard the taller male on the side mumble something to himself, he seemed to be laughing at you. “I am confident in my judgement,” was her only answer. “You have the option to take this responsibility or reject the offer, I won’t judge you there. But I am also confident in my ability to take you down if you take advantage of us.”
A threat.
You sank further into your seat, a grin on your lips. Ah, there it was, they were acting more like vampires now.
“I do need a place to sleep,” you mused. “Perhaps I’ll consider your deal, although I find it would be hard to work with…” you let your sentence stretch, peering at both Jean and Kaeya, eyes still locked on yours.
“Scared?” The tall man teased, his fangs appearing sharper when his lips tugged into a smirk.
You held back a sarcastic retort, “I dont want to work with you,” you blatantly replied. “I’ll admit it, you make me uncomfortable, your group of knights,” the world felt bitter on your tongue. “You make me sick.”
Kaeya flinched.
“Understandable,” Jean replied smoothly, not looking fazed in the least. “Then if I could ensure that no members of the Favonius Knights would interrupt you with your work or rather, cross paths with you at all… you’d agree?”
It would make the ordeal of killing the anemo archon much, much easier.
“Yes, on those terms and the benefits you spoke of earlier, I would agree.”
She thought about it for a moment, pensive eyes blank on you. You were winning her over, you could tell. But something about the way she reacted to nearly nothing shook you, her mannerisms controlled to perfection and emotions so scarce that she rang of danger.
“Then its settled, you will become an addition to our knights for a short period of time while on your travels here in Monstadt. However… I must warn you, I don’t plan on taking back mny threat from earlier. I have eyes around Monstadt, past its borders.”
She didnt finish her sentence.
She didn't have to.
The air about her could rival an archon, and you knew the images of your blade on her neck would remain short lived fantasies. After all, she was not your target, and only when you deemed her truly worthwhile to eliminate would you put your lasting strength to kill once again.
An endless slaughter, it was tiring.
But you killed monsters, and archon knows the souls that would drag as a burden if you ever killed a brethren.
The wood of the door creaked open, unveiling the mess that lay inside. Messy clothes strewn from couch to counter, garbage bags that littered wooden planks. There was a sole painting hung on the blue chipped walls, tipping to the side and on the verge of crashing to the ground in glass shards. Drawings of circles and shapes you’d seen before, names that stood alongside the symbols.
Zodiac… signs?
The knight beside you sighed, wallowing his head down in disappointment at the sight of the house. Jean had been thoughtful enough to send you with a human escort, you weren't sure what you would've done if it was a vampire.
“What's their name?”
Paper shuffled in his hands as the knight scanned through documents, the contract made for your stay here at this house, they'd been insistent on getting a signature.
How incredibly formal for bloodsucking beasts.
“Mona Megistus, a retired astrologist…” his eyes strayed farther down the page. “She hasn't paid rent in… months. No wonder they didn't get her permission beforehand, I’m surprised she hasn't been kicked out.”
As if on cue, footsteps resonated through the withering apartment. A guttural scream ripped out of a young girl's throat before a slim figure crashed against one of the wooden walls of the entrance. “Get out!!” She screamed, eyes wide and furious. “Leave me alone you monsters!” You noticed the glint of the kitchen knife in her hand before she held it up. “I’ve sliced you up before, and I’ll do it again.”
“They can't kick her out like this,” you hummed in reply to the knight's previous question. “She looks insane.”
“Who wouldn't be?” He mumbled back, you weren't sure if he was talking to himself or you.
Mona, your new roommate, held the knife up higher, attempting to be more intimidating when her threat was ignored. “Dont fucking mess with me.”
Poor girl.
Your steps were slow, and you werent surprised when she struck wildly, the blade coming in close contact with your neck. But you caught it easily enough in your hand, raising an eye at her strength when she leaned forward to push her weight onto the knife. She was screaming when she pulled away, stumbling a few steps back before lunging back at you.
“Look into my eyes,” you stated when catching the knife right at your shoulder blade.
Breaths coming out in gasps, her clear eyes met yours, widening only a fraction before she again pulled back. But this time without intention to pounce back on you, she instead looked to be in shock, the blade in her hand clambering to the ground.
“Human,” she mumbled, “You’re human.”
Poor girl.
You turned back to the knight who was also frozen in place. “I appreciate you bringing me here,” was your only comment as he stood in the doorway. He reacted immediately, looking around for a place to put the contract papers, and when finding none, settling them down on the ground and murmuring a soft goodbye before firmly shutting the door.
With no lights, the room was now darker with only a window at the doorway to provide vision. Slowly, Mona kneeled down to grasp her knife once again. She seemed composed when standing back up, “Who are you?”
“Your roommate.”
She didn't seem to like that, lip curling up into a snarl as she held the knife up once again. “I don't have a roommate.”
“Now you do.”
You slipped off the black jacket off your shoulders, taking a deep breath in and out when letting it drop to the floor. Mona flinched when you slipped off your shoes and trekked past the mess in the entrance.
“You still haven't answered my question,” her voice was weaker. “Who… who are you? Why are you suddenly moving in?”
“That's two questions,” you replied back when walking past her into the hallway. Again, chipped blue paint to lighten the walls, a mess. “But my name is Y/n, I’m currently aiding the Favonius Knights and was granted a place to sleep.”
Her demeanor changed completely, she was now back to being on full guard. “You work with vampires.”
“I kill vampires,” you corrected her. “But yes, unfortunately I have to work with them for now, I assure you its not something I will enjoy.” Perhaps you said the next line to gain her trust, or sanction her worry, but it still brought a smile to your face. “I’d have killed them now if there weren't so many.”
She went silent, and it was only when you looked back to gauge her reaction that she held out her hand. Small and frail, she looked like she hadn't eaten in days, haven't slept in days. “Mona Megistus.”
Ah finally, a proper introduction.
You grabbed her hand, “Y/n.”
‧₊˚.𖧧. A SONG ON THEIR PLAYLIST!
including! — (in order) kaeya, jean, diluc, kazuha, venti <3
genre/warnings! — part one [ here! ], fluff, slight angst in kaeya’s part + music artists/bands mentioned, so possible warnings for anyone with certain triggers regarding any artists!
༉‧₊˚. SYNOPSIS! — a song they have on their playlist that reminds them of you + a small concept to go with it <33
:: KAEYA! ♥︎
nothing’s gonna hurt you baby - cigarettes after sex
“nothing’s gonna hurt you, baby, as long as you’re with me you’ll be just fine.”
an instance in which he’s the one undergoing the nurturing. his face is calm and the look he wears is uncharacteristically neutral, a curious change from the usual grin he masks. your fingertips graze over each crease and blemish on his face, smiling as he playfully smushes your hand into cupping his cheek. you are not reminiscent of anyone he’s experienced in his desolate past, and that’s terrifying. he’s constantly unknowing of what to expect, though it’s endearing to know that this is something — someone that’ll last. lyrics turn into promises as you lay your lips on his forehead, smoothing his hair back down and pulling the man to your chest in an all-knowing embrace.
:: JEAN! ♥︎
i like you - dandelion hands
“because i dream of you in colors that don’t exist....”
a hushed “good morning” escapes her lips as she eyes you in her peripheral vision. she’d usually always gotten up earlier, so it was a pleasant surprise to see you follow after her so quickly. you stop in your trudge to the kitchen upon seeing her, your dreary eyes having stars practically align in them just at her presence. she kisses a smile into your temple as you move to her side, latching onto her to feel the comforting warmth of her skin. giving up on fixing her hair, her arms move down to caress your face, relishing in how peaceful you looked just with her. surely, this was another one of her yearn-filled dreams, no? when a murmured proclamation of how “pretty” you think she is tickles her shoulder, she’s sure this must finally be real life.
:: DILUC! ♥︎
like real people do - hozier
“we should just kiss like real people do.”
your space falls akin to a ballroom as soon as you accept his dance proposal. the tender callouses adorning his palms are engrained in your own body’s memory, yet the continuous delicacy he exudes within every touch is something you’ll never be able to fully anticipate. in your arms, he no longer feels like a shell of himself. he so desperately yearns for people to cease with the application of a strictly cold and disconnected exterior on his person, despite the picture he may paint. his desire to be understood instead of mischaracterized is no longer held above his head while he remains close with you. he croons the lyrics to himself in a low, steady voice, tipping your chin gingerly on the last note. what a fool he’d be to not kiss you just as the song suggests.
:: KAZUHA! ♥︎
hey lover! - wabie
“hey, hey, hey, lover, i love you just the way you are...”
the autumnal winds nip quietly at both of your faces as you walk arm-in-arm. he’s always adored how the skies look in the fall season, the balance of humidity adorning the world with wonderfully cloudy afternoons. though, of course, you outshined all of nature’s beauties. true love, is it not? a love so sweet like yours, he might combust just upon the mere thought. you turn to him, excitement bubbled in your chest at the item you managed to catch hold of. a maple leaf, not unlike those that fall yearly amongst his beloved hometown. it’s gorgeous, but pales in comparison to who he’s really focused on. the apples of his cheeks are surely reddened, as his smile has only grown upon the sight. he just loves you, oh so much.
:: VENTI! ♥︎
get you - daniel caesar
“every time i look into your eyes, i see it, you’re all i need.”
so skilled in keeping his personality exceedingly bubbly despite all circumstances, it’s interesting to see how he falters when faced with you. he’s in the middle of listening to one of your ramblings when he blanks, and he’s gone before he can catch himself. the way your lips curve with each word, how your eyes flicker every which way — he’s at a loss for one of the longest moments of his life. you’re everything an artist wishes they could create. cheekiness envelops you as you attempt to tease him for staring, though you’re only met with an equally as shameless grin. the word “how” races about in his romanticized thoughts as he throws himself at you, kissing away all your protests of him startling you. who would’ve thought he’d ever get someone like you?
thank you so much for reading !! stay safe & ily MWAH <3
