What they like the most about your muse: ”Well…He did seem polite enough to speak to me directly. He seemed rather flustered when the subject of his relationship came up - quite an honest response. Rather adorable, even!”

What they dislike the most about your muse: “…I feel like there’s a hint of manpride there- I suspect if I offer a friendly note of advice, it’ll wound him. Never a good thing. That may well need severing at some point.”

What your muse is for them ( Friend, lover, rival etc.): “He’s…An acquaintance, I suppose? We’ve only met once or twice. I would be happy to consider him a friend, though, if he’ll allow it.”

A general opinion of their relationship: Hmm…That’s a difficult one! I’d say we’re civil. We both know a mis-step in his relationship with Hotsu is where issues might arise. Of course, they’re both adults and can deal with it themselves, I’m sure…” She smiles, a little bit too sweetly, lacing her fingertips together as she contemplates. “But if Hotsu so much as breathes a word of disapproval…” She adds, deciding not to elaborate further.

If applicable, something they wish to reveal: “…Don’t misunderstand, however. I am fond of the man, despite my words. I just happen to like Hotsu more,  you see.”

“I think th’first thing anyone’d notice, or at least it’s what I noticed, is Kaede’s eyes, sort o’ experienced look t’em, real beautiful ones, though I s’pose that’s t’be expected from a lass, well… Guess she’s more o’ a woman considerin’ she’s a good few years older’n me, like Kaede. Can’t say that I know ‘er too well other’n a few times in passin’, but from what I’ve seen she’s got a real good ‘ead on ‘er shoulders, not t’mention a beautiful one. Seems real intelligent, an’ I guess that’s another thing that ye can tell exactly from lookin’ ‘er in ‘er eyes, that ‘ind ‘em’s a real smart lass! She’s a Raen too, which’s always a good thing, lovely ‘orns, scales like ivory, an’ sorta almost give ‘er a warm glow. Skin’s a bit on th’unusual side, but I think that adds t’th’whole thing, ye know? I think it’s rather funny that she’s a wee bit o’ a prude in terms o’ swearin’ an’ th’like, I know that a lot o’ people find that sort o’ shite real difficult t’deal with, an’ that’d prob’ly make someone like me a real ‘assle, which makes it real entertainin’, ‘cause I bleedin’ love a spot o’ coarse language like nothin’ else. Don’t really blame ‘er, but I think one o’ my fondest memories was givin’ ‘er niece a lil’ course on swearin’ an’ ye know, tellin’ ‘er t’not care as much ‘bout what people think o’ ‘er, so I could be in Kaede’s shite book fer that, but ‘ells it was good fun! Prob’ly should get t’know Kaede a bit better’n I do, shame that I don’t, really!”

Long one, so under the cut!

“He…Reminds me of myself, actually. A little bit. Except he’s much taller, a-and…Hmh. I don’t think I’m -that- scared of people. Just a little bit scared of people. I wonder if I’ll actually run into him again.” Khana smiles, tilting his head to the side. “It’d be nice if we could trade advice on baking, as well…If he’s from the Steppe, he might have some different methods, right?”

“‘E’s just a bloody idiot. Don’t act his age. Got no idea what he’s tryin’ to pull here - S’ he just immature, or what? I can’t tell. Still-…He’s been kinder t'me than anyone else, an’ I can’t fault 'im for that.” Tsubaki huffs - he folds his arms, tail whipping irritably behind him as he speaks.

“…Can’t figure 'im out. He-…Is growin’ on me a little, though.”

Kaede’s gaze lowers to the floor, shaking her head with a frown. “Luvshan, he-…He needs to mature, and fast. None of that forever-alone-self-loathing crap, he’s too old for it! Being grumpy and defensive isn’t any way to solve that problem, either.”

She sighs, folding her arms across her chest. “I don’t know what to do with him. I want to help, but-…He’s too stubborn. There’s no excuse for it - I’m sure it’s just the man-pride talking.”

Kaede-- 7. What feature (physical or otherwise) do they hate most about themselves? / 16. Is there anyone who makes them feel inferior?

“…What feature? I suppose…My tail. It’s large, clunky…It gets in the way. There’s nothing sleek, or subtle about it.” The older raen lets out a sigh - perhaps a little bit overdramatic. Perhaps she’s only kidding? “…It made my work more difficult than it needed to be. Now, less so…But it’s still something that’ll bother me, no matter what.”

Kaede’s lips curl into a faint smile, and she shakes her head, lifting a hand to briefly brush a few stray locks from her eyes. “No. Everyone is quite kind to me, and they make me feel welcome - because I’m older, too, there’s a certain…Respect given to me.” She pauses, furrowing her brow for a moment.

“…There were people, before. If they had the gil, the reputation, they’d hire me. Of course, with that came a naturally condescending nature. Back then, I was much younger, and I’d feel like I was being looked down upon…But, no. No more.”

Kaede’s eyes widen somewhat at the mention and she blinks for a moment in disbelief.

“Oh, I remember him! What was his name again-…Hawk? Did we call him that? He looks familiar, but it’s been quite some time…If my old mind recalls correctly, he was quite the skillful warrior, yes? Despite his age…”

She pauses, furrowing her brow for a moment.

“…It’s a shame, really. I doubt he still remembers me, but I hope he’s doing okay-…Xaela should not wander that far from home.”

“Oh! Acheron? He’s surprisingly easily manipulated, you know? Didn’t take much to get a few answers out of him.” Kaede smirks, pausing for a moment– though as she attempts to keep her answer short and sweet, she can’t help but let out a mischievous giggle.

“You know, he thinks I’m some sort of ex-assassin,” she adds, with a sly wink. “I’m not sure what gave him that impression. It’s adorable, really. I just hope he remembers to treat Hotsu with respect, or he may find a knife to his throat.” The older Raen’s smile widens. She seems deadly serious…

…Though she can’t keep up that face for too long.

“Just kidding! Maybe.”

Shakka/Kaede

I…think this ship would end up as platonic, unless Kaede pushed for something more because…popoto. 

Kaede would most likely end up being the “nice Auntie” of the family, and a woman figure to look up to for Shakka’s two daughters, especially Mallpa. And since she is an older, friendly lady that probably wouldn’t mind offering advice, Shakka would most likely keep approaching her for daughter-related problems himself.

Ney/Reqa

Oh boy those two would create havoc if they ever got together! Poor people who would end up as a victim of their happy teasing. I think they’d easily carry each other’s jokes until the third person would be a flustered mess.

I can’t imagine the two would develop romantic feelings for each other though, as they both keep their true side to themselves, and neither is the type to try and break other people’s walls either, they’re a little too similar like that. I’d also imagine Reqa would eventually see through Ney’s pretend-friendliness, and wouldn’t want to make it any deeper than casual friends, because that’s how the Keeper would see him. Sex-friends, maybe, but nothing more than that.

Hotsu/Khana

This is actually something I’d like to see, not as a romantic ship necessarily, but as friends! 

Hotsu’s usual friendliness and nonjudgmental, calm demeanour would most likely calm down the nervous, awkward Khana and help him open up a little bit, and he’d might be patient and reflective enough to understand and follow the Raen’s strange mindset and views.

I certainly imagine the two would get along quite well. They are both a little withdrawn, and a little awkward around people, so perhaps they would find some support from each other. On the other hand, maybe Khana would find Hotsu’s strong will a little intimidating?

Kaede shakes her head, bringing her index finger up to softly tap at her chin as she contemplates her answer.

“Ah… I’ve never given this much thought, you know. I suppose if I had to decide, a certain sense of maturity in someone would be nice. I wouldn’t say I don’t get along with people younger than I am, but there’s just something missing, if that makes sense…?” She sighs, her gaze drifting to a small vase of delicately-arranged, colourful flowers set upon a table in her room. Following this, her features relax, lips curling into a gentle smile.

“An appreciation for nature would be nice too, though.”
