I would actually have to look deeper into this, but let's say that it's NOT exactly unusual to use names from production members. My favourite thing to dive into was how the parents of the children were named after some of the voice actors.
Yuuko Mizutani (Sora's and Yuuko's Japanese VA): Yuuko Yagami, Taichi's mother
Toshiko Fujita (Taichi's and Toshiko's Japanese VA): Toshiko Takenouchi, Sora's mother
Kae Araki (Hikari's and Kae's Japanese VA): Kae Izumi, Koushirou's mother
Masami Kikuchi (Jyou's, Jyou's brothers' and Masami's Japanese VA): Masami Izumi, Koushirou's father
I was looking up names for a Digimon/Pokemon fandom swap. Since Ash and Gary are named after real people in Japan, I wanted to incorporate that element. And while I was looking up anime staff-
"Daisuke". Hey, where have I heard that name before? Oh. Yeah.
Interestingly, Daisuke Kawakami only did planning on 02, and wasn't a producer. Not sure how much of a demotion this is in the anime industry, or if it is one at all. But he was definitely still working on the show. Not sure if Motomiya was actually named after Kawakami but it seems likely.
@seventeenlovesthree @shihalyfie Was this officially confirmed anywhere, or is this just a Game Theory?
(Also bonus- "Taichiro Fujiyama" might have funneled into the teacher character Mr. Fujiyama. I know his name wasn't the inspiration for Tai's though- that's the V-Tamer manga.)
#i haven't looked into anything else but i really do loved these#voica actors#digimon#digimon adventure#trivia#yuko mizutani#toshiko fujita#kae araki#masami kikuchi

There are a few amusing Sailor Moon voice actor connections in Anime Ai no Awa Awa Hour:
Kotono Mitsuishi (Usagi) and Michie Tomizawa (Rei) voice Ebichu and her master in Oruchuban Ebichu.
Wakana Yamazaki (Koan) and Yuri Amano (Berthier) voice Koume and Kimi in Koume-chan ga Iku.
And finally, Kae Araki (Chibiusa) voices Ikumi in Ai no Wakakusayama Monogatari.

Today I have the 02 kids!
Reiko Kiuchi voices both Daisuke Motomiya in the 02 series and Dark Cure Aqua from the Precure 5 gogo movie. What's amusing is that Daisuke is the only bad guy here. lol Further more, Daisuke is pretty much evil Mimi lol. Fun tidbit, V-mon's seiyuu Noda Junko voices a fairy named Harihari Hamu in Hugtto Precure.
For Miyako she actually doesn't share a voice in any magical girl series that would be instantly recognizable. She is the only one too! Her english actor in Kizuna will voice Lana Lang in My Adventures with Superman, but we don'tknow if she'll become superwoman or not. Or if she'll get a magical sequence like Clark did. So I racked my brain which Sailor Scout, Mew Mew, or Precure would fit her best. I was thinking Sailor Venus until Ageha/Cure Butterfly was introduced. She's passionate, outgoing, goofy, but can be really motherly. That reminded me of Miyako. So that's why she's Cure Butterly. (And hey! Adventure, butterflies. It all fits!)
Romi Park voices both Ken Ichijouji in the 02 series and Syrup/ Shiro Amai in Precure 5 gogo! (Yes, we have a lot of Digimon seiyuu in this series. lol I think Milk, Nuts, and Urara are the only ones without a Digimono connection now.)
Iori/Cody from the Digimon kizuna and 02tb dub and Lance from the Dokidoki Precure dub are voiced by Bryce Papenbrook. Bryce also voices Cat Noir in Miraculous Ladybug, I already drew Ladybug(Cristina Vee/Meiko) and Cody together. They're saving Paris together!
Hikari from the OG Adventure and Sailor Chibi Moon from the OG Sailor Moon are both voiced by Araki Kae. Hikari is the OG Magical Girl here! Hikari in the tri./Kizuna dub and Sharuru/Kippie from the DokiDoki Precure dub are voiced by Tara Sands. Another dub fairy in Digimon. Haha.
Last but not least is Takeru! Takeru in the Adventure reboot and Cure Princess from Happiness Charge Precure are both voiced by Megumi Han. Takeru even gets a goofy lil' hat in his Magical Girl edition to add to the many goofy hats he has. Congrats teeks!

1, 2, 8, 14 for Hikari Yagami! (lol I just like the Yagami siblings a whole lot)
[ask meme list]
(It's OK, i like them too!!)
1- My first impression of them
Like i mentioned before, in previous memes/challenges, 02 was the very first official entrance to the franchise -- even if i had watched a few episodes of Adv'99 before, but only when i got interested in 02 and it was about to be starting to be aired in Brazil (in 2001).
Vague memories of Hikari -- or, Kari, since i'm here talking about the BR dub this time -- is that she was a strong mysterious lady but very gentle and soft. As I watched 02 I really liked her, and was cheering for Davis (BR dub Davis is just like Daisuke, except with a Carioca accent) to get a chance to show how devoted he was.
I also had a strong attachment to Nefertimon and Tailmon as a kid too, Tailmon was my favorite digimon before V-mon appeared and stole my heart 🤣
Anyway, I love Hikari so much. Since I watched 02 with the JP cast/and fansubs, and i love how she's very able to manipulate people in order to get what she wants lol (yes, she's self-aware of this, of how she can control Daisuke and this is the group's advantage somehow lol)
2- When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like)
I think watching 02 with friends on our 02 rewatch party lockdown 2020 was when i truly started to like Hikari, and to apologize to her and to Takeru about my bad perception of their characters & portrayals there...
Also, MAO is fantastic as Hikari in Kizuna's Drama CD, and the BP Kizuna's character songs. But I also love her OG VA, Araki Kae and she will be forever associated with the kid Hikari-chan for me.
8- Your favorite outfit of them
I like a ton of outfits for Hikari-chan!! But mostly 02 and Kizuna ones! But lately i'm in love with her design for the new movie. I wanna dress like Hikari-chan!!
Isn't she cute as an adult lady? 😊🥰
14- Best storyline they had
I'm still thinking 02 is the best of Hikari's potential explored and developed. You can notice the biggest difference in her in the Kizuna drama CD, in which she's able to voice her own needs and desires more often.
But if anything... 02 ep 31 is the best Hikari-chan episode ever.
I highly recommend reading Shiha's metas about Hikari-chan. Because they also helped me to see what i didn't before, and she also worded a ton of things i've noticed before but never got courage or skill enough to say it aloud.

Koushiro: “What did you want to talk with me about?”
Masami: “While the two of us were hiding at home,”
{Gifs by Me} {Do Not Copy} {Do Not Repost} “-...we talked and we decided that it’s time we’ve finally told you this.”
“The truth is... We’re not your real parents.”
“...I already {K N O W}. ...” (Mr & Mrs Izumi hang their heads in SHAME, quiet for some long moments, in response, as they listen...)
“I tried to pretend that I hadn’t heard anything. I thought that by ACTING normal, things would STAY THE SAME as before... ... But I COULDN’T DO IT.”
“In the end... I grew drawn to my computer so I wouldn’t have to show anyone my true self...”
(MASAMI, LOUDLY) “There is NOTHING ‘Wrong’ with being into {/being OBSESSED WITH} Computers!” {“Pasocon” = Computer} (Koushiro looks up quickly, startled, half-gasping OUT) “Father...!!” {“Otousan!”}
“That trait of yours is what makes you who YOU are.”
“...Still, you really are exactly like your real father...” “My real father?” “He was a distant relative of mine...”
“He was also a lecturer at a University. And a GENIUS {“Tensai”} Mathematician. Twelve years ago, he married your real mother and they had YOU.”
“{Your biological father} was with {your biological mother} when they met a terrible car accident.” “Neither of them survived.” - Masami, eyes closed throughout
“...We (“watashi-tachi”) had a child of our own once... A small boy. But they died when they were just a baby (“aka-chan”)...” - Mrs Izumi, forlornly and quietly, head bowed throughout
“Then, when we were asked {implied: by Masami’s distant relatives} if we could ‘take care of’ YOU... Well...” - Mrs. Izumi, adding on, trailing off...
“...So that’s what happened. ...” - Koushiro, with understanding, but softly, in usual formal tone
“We had planned to tell you everything when you were older.” “But we didn’t think that you ALREADY would have FIGURED IT OUT.”
“This must have been hard for you to deal with on your own. I’m sorry. ...”
“No... Actually, I’m grateful that you told me the truth.”
(Formal speech) “Thank you” [“Arigato[u] gozaimas[u]”] “N-No... I mean...” (Koushiro attempts to quickly correct himself) (Informal) “T-Thanks...” [“A...Ariga...tou...”] (Stammers over it) [Note: Koushiro in the original Japanese version is known for speaking in formal-esque Japanese speech.]
“YOU DON’T have to CHANGE yourself for US.” - Mrs Izumi
“YES. ALL WE WANT is for you to be HAPPY.” - Mr Izumi
(Koushiro tears up, sniffles, and begins outright SOBBING as he runs into their arms, hiding Koushiro’s face completely.)
{I eventually meant to add in the U.S. dub version for comparisons. Until I can, please be RESPECTFUL interacting on this post. As I am also someone from a “Non-normative family” like Koushiro, this was a super relevant scene to Younger me when I was growing up, and it means a lot to me on a personal level. I’d really appreciate if people could respect that when Interacting.} (Please regard the banner above, thank you!)

Okay, so now for a big VA Trivia. We’ve technically got over 20 people here, so it ain’t gonna fit on an ask. This is only going to cover the original adventure, for sake of brevity. TK's VA will probably be the most interesting to you
Taichi is voiced by Toshiko Fujita, whose other roles include voicing Jerry from Tom and Jerry. Tai is voiced by Joshua Seth, who was Tetsuo in the Pioneer dub of AKIRA.
Yamato is voiced by Yuuto Kazama, who other roles include Zero from Megaman, and Tabitha from Pokemon. Matt is played by Michael Reisz, who played the Ninja Turtle Michaelangelo in Power Rangers In Space and Kevin 11 in his first appearence.
Sora in Japanese is played by Yuko Mizutani, who also played Buffy Summers, Minnie Mouse, and Iris in Megaman X4. Iris is a love interest to the aforementioned Zero, though not in a game where Yuuto Kazama voiced him. In English, she’s voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessy, whose other roles include Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog, and Jazz Fenton from Danny Phantom
Koushiro is voiced by Umi Tenjin, who doesn’t seem to have many other roles. Izzy is played by Mona Marshall, who also plays Doraemon, Terriermon’s evolution line and Lucemon in later Digimon seasons, Li Syaoran in the second Cardcaptor Sakura Movie, and Kyle’s Mom on South Park.
Mimi in Japanese is played by Ai Maeda, who was also Sailor Pluto in Sailor Moon Crystal. She also sang the endings for Digimon anime up through Frontier. In English she’s Philece Sampler, who was also Cody in Digimon Adventure 02, and Toph Beifong in Legend of Korra.
Jou is played by Masami Kikuchi, who is also the narrator in Digimon Frontier and Akihiro Kurata in Digimon Savers. Additionally he plays Baki Hanma in Baki the Grappler, Monaka and Belmod in DB Super, and Sonic the Hedgehog in the 96 OVA. Joe is played by Michael Lindsay, who is also Greymon in the dub.
TK is played by Wendee Lee, and incredibly prolific VA whose roles include Bulma in the Harmony Gold dub of Dragonball and Bang Zoom dub of Dragonball Super, Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, Haruhi Suzumiya, Athena Cykes in Ace Attorney, and both Miu Iruma and Akane Owari in Danganronpa. Takeru is played by Hiroko Konishi, who also played Bridget in Guilty Gear, Akane Kimidori in Doctor Slump, Roll in Megaman 8, and Lilith Aensland from Darkstalkers. Unfortunately, Konishi’s career as a Voice Actor has basically ended as a result of speaking out against sexual harassment in the industry during the MeToo movement
Hikari is played by Kae Araki, who was Chibi-Usa in Sailor Moon, and Sabrina in Pokemon. Kari is voiced by Lara Jill Miller, who played Chirithy in Kingdom Hearts.
The Agumon line in Japanese by Chika Sakamoto, who also played Donald Duck’s nephews in Ducktales and Kingdom Hearts, as well as Ma-Ti in Captain Planet. In English Agumon is played by Tom Fahn, who doesn’t have any other roles you’d know. Metal Greymon is played by Joseph Pilato, who is best known as Captain Henry Rhodes in the George Romero Zombie film Day of the Dead, where he iconically told a horde of Zombies to “Choke on’Em!” as he was being devoured. WarGreymon was voiced by Lex Lang, who is known for playing Goemon in Lupin III, Kenshiro in Fist of the North Star, Goku in Bang Zoom’s Dragonball Super Dub,Blue the Velociraptor in Jurassic World, The Sentinels in Days of Future Past, and Silver Samurai in the Wolverine.
The Gabumon line in Japanese is played by Mayumi Yamaguchi, who was also Envy in Fullmetal Alchemist (the original anime). In English Gabumon’s line is played by Kirk Thornton, who also played Mummymon in Adventure 02. He has been the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog since 2010, and also played Saix and Isa in Kingdom Hearts.
Piyomon’s Line is played by Atori Shigematsu, who doesn’t seem to have any other roles. Biyomon is voiced by Tifanie Christun, who would also play Yolei in Adventure 02. She also played the Female Ninja Turtle Venus De Milo when the character appeared on Power Rangers. Birdamon and above are played by Melodee Spevack, who also played Lady Devimon. Her other rolls include Mai in the Harmony Gold Dragon Ball dub.
In Japanese the Tentomon line is played by Takahiro Sakurai, who is known for playing Cloud Strife in the FFVII compilation was well as Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, and Smash Bros. He is also Griffith from Berserk, Leon in Pokemon Twilight Wings and Masters, Keon Kuwta in Danganronpa, Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson’s Batman. Additionally he played Adult Koushiro in the Digimon 02 epilogue. Tentomon’s line in English was played by Jeff Nimoy, who also wrote, and directed the English dub as well as playing Gennai. He’s Spock’s second cousin.
The Palmon line in Japanese is voiced by Kinomi Yamada, who has no other notable roles. In English Palmon is voiced by Anna Garduno, who that also applies to. Togemon is voiced by Mari Devon, who voiced Arukenimon in 02 and the Renamon line in Tamers. Lilymon is voiced by Dorthy Elias-Fahn, who is Saiyaka Maizono, Chihiro Fujisaki, and Tsumugi Shirogane in Danganronpa. She is also the wife of Tom Fahn, Agumon’s VA.
Gomamon’s line is voiced by Junko Takeuchi, who is best known as the title character of Naruto. She is also Dawn Bellweather in Zootopia, Gumball Waterson, Mr. Beast the youtuber, Mokuba Kaiba from YuGiOh, and Red in Pokemon Origins. Gomamon and Ikkakumon in English are voiced by R. Martin Klein, whose others roles don’t include anything you’d have heard of. Zudomon is voiced by Michael Sorich, who is also Andromon and Elecmon. He also plays several characters in Naruto, and Doctor Huesca in Master Detective Archive.
In Japanese the Patamon Line is voiced by Miwa Matsumoto, whose only other role of note that I can find is Chiharu from Cardcaptor Sakura. In English Patamon is voiced by Laura Summer, who also played Janine Melnitz on The Real Ghostbusters, until she was recast because people complained that the character was too “edgy and sexy” for young girls. Angemon and MagnaAngemon are voiced by Dave Mallow, who was Oolong in the Harmony Gold Dub of Dragonball, Akuma in Street Fighter, and Richard Nixon in Call of Duty.
The Tailmon line is played by Yuko Tokumitsu, who is also Mimi’s mother. The Gatomon line is played by Edie Mirman, who was Launch in the Harmony Gold dub of Dragonball, and Fujiko Mine in Lupin III.

Was reminded recently about what a great character she was, and found this equally stellar analysis and defense post on a subreddit.
That same post actually had a disclaimer that referred to her 90's anime iteration as a "bastardization of the character", but I don't think that's fair either since it's more complicated than that. The team for the R anime understood the basic assignment for Chibi Usa given what Naoko provided for them, but they kind of Scrappy Dooed her character by exaggerating her quirks and characteristics, particularly enhancing her negative traits, to make her a more annoying as a way to mine for visual, reactive, and banter-based comedy. It clearly was not accidental since Chibi Usa was treated as a nuissance by the other characters, so it's really a 50/50 chance of the annoying little gremlin shtick landing with you or not. And largely dependant on the VA's performance (say what you will about Kae Araki, but I think it's unarguable that Tracey Hoyt sunk the material far worse while Sandy Fox elevated it spectacularly - wish we could've heard how Sugar Lyn Beard would've played it). But she became more sympathetic and likable and with more character development after that one episode and it stuck all the way through the S series. She kind of grates on my nerves again in the last section of S aside from the always precious bonding with Hotaru, but very few characters and elements were unscathed by that so that wasn't a her problem....
And then they shoved her into the main protagonist role for Super S and made her into this cutesy, whiny, overly-wise, preachy, largely useless (Pegasus does all of her work) and very inconsistent little twerp. Still had her moments here and there, but the damage done was done and it led to her getting abrubptly and almost cruelly written out early into Stars due to how much her popularity had sank. And we never got her glorious return and teaming with the Sailor Quartet that had been set up at Super S's end and was so needed. :(
All that said, no, she never deserved the crazy hate she got. Ever.
•An apology for ChibiUsa, definitely one of the most hated character ever.
Whimsical, unpredictable, irritating, annoying, in R she only seems to want Usagi and Mamoru apart, she always stands in the way, she doesn’t do anything useful and she always cries when in danger, she does stupid things such as stealing the Silver Crystal when it’s most needed and putting everybody in danger and… so on. She almost always makes situations degenerate in the R series.
Honestly, ChibiUsa is a character rarely loved at first sight, as a first step she’s hateful… at first glance, her vibes are so negative it hurts. The writers made her really unbearable, despite of having her short and sweet moments.
In SS she doesn’t do anything but steal the show; everything is about her and Pegasus and Usagi is just cut out; she doesn’t even get to know about pegasus until one of the last episodes… like after everything they went through together she’s not even to be trusted. And ChibiUsa is always complaining but she doesn’t want to speak to anyone, when she talks to Mamoru still we see oddities in their relationship and it’s plain.
Nobody likes her.
I do. Look at her. ChibiUsa is each of our most human sides. Beginning with her rampant jealousy and ending with her frantic weeping when she doesn’t know the right thing to do.
She’s a small Usagi, a baby one, one that didn’t become the new Sailor Moon yet. Pretending not to care about anything that surrounds her, she just hides each of her deepest feelings because she’s scared to get hurt. She blushes in anger, when somebody tries to tell her to open up, and just denies to have something to hide.
She is so unpleasant in her manners, but she’s such a strong character, and she probably just took the deep rationality and the embarrassment when she has to show her feelings of her father… And the dynamism of her mother.
She’s complex, she’s frustratingly divided from the man she loves most because of some kingdom’s laws that aren’t even explained to her, she’s forced to follow an apprenticeship to become the new Sailor moon and to use the Silver Crystal the right way, terrified to never live up to her mother’s expectations.
When her mother is dying she runs through a Time space door to try and save her, we never hear her really telling somebody about her situation until the final episodes, and she’s always crying alone.
She makes many mistakes. That’s true. But she’s a child. She thinks everything will magically solve once she will hold the Crystal, she’s naive and unpretentious always.
She doesn’t want to show how much she needs protection, just like her father. Maybe that’s why she opens up the most with him. Her jealousy is maybe a light Oedipus complex that so many kids had. Maybe Usagi, instead, should show the maturity of a young woman.
She’s a character that personifies in so many ways our flaws, and maybe that’s why she often gets refused. Because we hate to admit them.
To me, hate her is impossible. She’s in love, she struggles every moment because of everything the future has set aside for her, because she lives apart from so many people she loves every single day of her life, divided between a training with her young mother and a life with the mother she grew up with.
She grows fond of everybody without ever telling it.
She always screams so loudly that she wants to get back home, to escape from that world; when the moment comes, she doesn’t want to leave Usagi’s hand.
She’s conflicting, contradictory.
She’s us.

In the anime/manga Sailor Moon; Sailor Chibi Moon [Chibiusa] (voiced in Japanese by Kae Araki and in English by Tracy Hoyt, Stephanie Beard, and Sandy Fox) is one of the main characters. She is a Tuxedo Mark’s daughter and a Sailor Moon from the future; however, does not get along with Usagi the majority of the time. Chibi USA is a bit concerningly attached to Mamoru. She is closest with her best friend Hotaru out of the rest of the scouts. Her sailor outfit is a white base like the rest, and her Super sailor form, has a mixed color motif of red, pink, and yellow. Collect all the accessories of the Sailor Chibi Moon costume (Super Form) from Sailor Moon.

Naomi as Anon: Hey Bean! So I got a question; I seeen a lot of fans doing voice claims for their ocs so i got curious do you have a voice claim for Kikumi, Youta, and Amka? In Japanese or in English? :)
Oooh!! Yes, actually, I do!
For Kikumi, her Japanese VA would be Kae Araki. I loved her performance as Black Lady in the 90s Black Moon Arc of SM. The emotion and the cadence she has when delivering her lines is just phenomenal. It'd pick her for Kikumi's Japanese VA any day. For her English VA, though, I'd say Mela Lee due to her performance of Tiki in Fire Emblem: Awakening. It just... has this allure to it that feels right for Kikumi.
As for Youta, his English VA would be Sam Reigel for, again, a Fire Emblem: Awakening performance. The whole tone just seemed right.

Rating chibiusa's voices
I did usagi so I'm gonna do her pride and joy her awesome daughter Chibiusa from Japanese to dic to cloverway to crystal to viz
Kae Araki: Obviously my favorite chibiusa, adorable voice but still has some sassiness to spice it all out so it's not too sickenly adorable (Matsuri's japanese voice from strawberry marshmallow take notes!) The best chibi 10/10
Tracey Moore: She's only fine in R season, but in the S and Super S movie not so much considering that in those movies she's not 6-7 anymore Chibiusa is around 9-10 so the bratty Angelica pickles voice doesn't really work as much. She's not too bad but not my favorite.
Sugar Lyn Beard: Now this is my favorite English chibiusa voice. She's absolutely adorable and is one of the few Cloverway voices that are actually not bad. The only times her voice is weak is when she has to scream in fear (That one scene where she's screaming in pain while Nehelenia is grabbing her dream mirror for example sounds like she's moaning...XD) I wish they had brought her back for the viz redub
Misato Fukuen: As much as I usually hate it when reboots/remakes/whatever you call crystal replace the entire original cast (Even worse in crystal's case because they only brought one voice back and it's usagi...) but Misato actually does good as Chibiusa. I like her voice sure it's no Kae Araki but it's not terrible.
Sandy Fox: Same thing with stephanie sheh, most of the time I'm not really used to her voice. But I did like her role as Marie in hare + guu. But in comedic scenes she shines, tho serious scenes from what I've seen not as great.
TL;DR Kae Araki > Sugar Lyn Beard > Misato Fukuen > Sandy Fox > Tracey Moore

Did you know it was speculated that Taichi’s/Hikari’s mom, Yuuko, was named after Sora’s Japanese OG voice actress, Yuko Mizutani? And that Sora’s mom was named after Taichi’s OG voice actress, Toshiko Fujita?
Well, apparently, Koushirou’s mom, Kae*, was named after Hikari’s OG voice actress, Kae Araki too. And then I realized. Koushirou’s mom herself is also voiced by Kae Araki. So it all comes together.
(*even though the novels translated her as Yoshie, but this makes a loooot more sense to me now.)
