Birds chirp to the autumn air, and sunlight against her cheek force her bleary eyes to open. From here, Azukni can see their two kids playing and screaming on the jungle gym, along with a bunch of other kids of varying ages (and even more varied species) playing together.

It makes her wonder why the grown-ups in the world couldn't get along like kids did.

Next to her, Leika'le stirs too, and Azukni is forced to lift her head off her wife's shoulder so she can stretch. "Did we fall asleep?" Leika'le yawns.

"I think we did." Azukni reclaims her wife's shoulder-pillow, and wraps an arm around her. Leika'le yawns again, and her arm falls over Azukni's shoulder.

"So much for watching the kids, huh Birdie?"

"There's so many other parents watching. I doubt any one of them would let something bad happen to their kid's new friend. I'm going back to sleep."

"Even with the lovely Sith dads over there?" Leika'le nods in their general direction.

Azukni scrunches her nose and shakes her head. "I can't imagine any parents would murder their kid's new friend's parents in front of them. Sith or not." She closes her eyes again, snuggling into her wife's arms. "We can nap for a big longer, Lei-lei."

"Okay, Birdie."

Azukni has lead an extremely average life as far as Jedi Padawans go. She's only known the Jedi Temple all her life, but the occasional trips offworld has always had her brimming over the top with excitement- moreso than she usually was. She was an eager girl, bubbling with energy, and twittered her pet bird fondly named Lt. Green, and chattered almost endlessly.

Her master soon found that the best way he’s able to keep her silent is when she’s reading, pouring over holos and archives of information, and she consumed every last bit of it. Of course, it doesn’t mean she won’t stop talking- in fact, the library he sends her to often provides her with more to talk about, but it’s something at least.

As she grew, she matured. Once a shy, wide eyed and gullible padawan, she grew to be a wise, albeit idealistic, woman. She happily married her childhood friend and wife, Leika'le Kela'an, and the two adopted two children together, Elanii and Kadryd. She started up a small clinic on Nar Shaddaa, one devoted to healing the mind, and soon she relocated to provide aid to the Alliance.

Unfortunately since my writing habits are "I will write when I have inspiration and post immediately not beta read we die like men" that means I never really have like. backlogs. of anything I write lol. That said, I will write something anyway since I got tagged by two people :P

I'm. Also not gonna tag anyone because this got long. I also broke the rules by writing something new anyway soooo /shrug

"You two be good for Uncle Coshbyss and Grandpa Rakheshi, okay?" Azukni hugged her two girls tightly. Elanii sniffled, brow furrowed as she blinked back angry tears. Kadryd didn't bother hiding her crying and hiccuping. They were so brave for this. She was so proud of them. And they were both so so strong, but she refused to take them to what was essentially a guerilla military base on an unknown planet.

Logically speaking, everything inside her screamed "don't go to Odessen." But hours upon days of meditation told her that yes, this was right. That was where she needed to be.

The Force was very frustrating to work with sometimes, but she needed to listen. She still wouldn't risk her children being actively in harm's way, though.

"I'll call all the time and then you two can tell me whatever silly shenanigans Lt. Green's been up to, okay?" she smiled. Her voice was cracking, her throat was closing up, her eyesight was blurring. No parent wants to see their child cry. "And as soon as it's safe..."

Neither of her girls wanted to let go. Azukni didn't either. She took a deep breath, did her damnedest to center herself. "I promise I'll come back and we'll all go together."

Kadryd held up a tiny chubby hand, pinky in the air. Her elder sister did the same. Azukni took their pinkies in hers. "Pinky promise."

Hell yes it's gonna be painful oh god I've been thinking about this all morning trying to figure out how to write this.

Mama is Azukni, Mom is Leika'le.

Mama was crying. Elanii was just angry. It wasn't fair that mama had to go away. Mom was already on another planet Elanii never heard about (Odessen. It sounded like a fake planet. Who names a planet Odessen?)

Why were both their parents leaving? Kadryd was a crybaby and Elanii's hugs and all her fighting of bullies couldn't comfort her like a hug from mama could. And now mama was making her cry more. Why was mama trying to make her little sister cry?

Elanii demanded mama take her and Kadryd with her to Odessen. Mama refused. She said it was a military base and no kids were allowed.

(That hadn't stopped Elanii sneaking onto one before, showing Kadryd all the cool giant droids.)

Mama hugged Elanii and Kadryd tightly, peppering kisses onto foreheads and montrals and cheeks.

It was stupid.

If mama wanted to make her and Kadryd feel better, she wouldn't be leaving.

She didn't want any stupid kisses. She wanted mama and mom.

yknow. one day. one of azukni's kids is going to either purposely or accidentally piss off someone really strong and powerful and they'll fucking get away with it bc they're too smart for their own good.

so far I'm leaning towards elanii who tends to be more of the trouble STARTER

but kadryd tends to know how to get them OUT of trouble

(both of them would probably turn azukni's hair white from stress within a few years if they're left to their own devices.)

embarrassing family moment times with azukni: teaching her kids NOT to eat their boogers. Trying to get them to understand that it’s super gross and it has lots of germs and whatever other excuses parents make up on the spot to get them to stop, and please, for the love of— Elanii! Kadryd! Get your fingers out of your noses right now! It’s super dirty and no no nO NO—!! Oh, honey, oh sweetie........... please........... dont do that again, okay?

Things on OC instagram/social media accounts bc why not

(It’s bc I was listening to my sib talk about this one wannabe “socialite” who basically scammed everyone and their mother, but it got me thinking about instagram anyway???)

Also this got SUPER LONG so I’m throwing it under a cut. OCs included in this post:

Azukni, mention of her kids, her giant pet bird Lt. Green has his own social media account, her brother doesn’t really. Rakheshi, Xyraan, Fauli, Arif, Nalakii, Slovir, Lei’ti, Drelan, his AI child ALIS, Howlite, Davi, Wanwo, Ying Zii, Kara Wren.

Kara definitely runs warriormando.

Azukni - nearly entirely motivational quotes, along with family photos. She’s one of those Instagram mommies who puts her kids in super cute outfits and gets pictures of them grinning and laughing, and eventually she gets enough followers where she’s instafamous enough to get sponsorships from companies who want to sell their kids’ fashion line.

(bonus: her kids go on space neopets. Elanii is somehow ridiculously competitive about it, but Kadryd is just there to get infinite omelette and jelly and play mini games.)

Lt. Green - has already had a space twitter account in the past, when I still used twitter to any extent. Content wise, it reads something like probirdrights and hungry_birds back when it was nothing but unintelligible keysmashing. Which means ridiculous and without any sense of grammar or spelling.

Coshbyss - has made one (1) on his twitter account that hasn’t been active for years at this point. It’s hard to tell why it hasn’t been deactivated/labelled inactive at this point, and it’s very likely he lost the password too.

Rakheshi - runs a tumblr blog that’s JUST horrid puns and dad jokes all the time. Most of the time he creates his jokes + stories, he does reblog a lot of dad puns + dad jokes as well, and he has definitely made posts that generally started out with, “back in my day...” But he uses it to like. Not berate the younger generations, but serve as a warning? Like a “learn from my mistakes” sort of thing.

Xyraan - instafamous fashionista, model, socialite. Has ridiculously perfect photos all the time. Does she even have a bad angle? (The answer is no.) Photos include lots of outfits of the day, even if it’s definitely far too extra to be considered everyday wear, perfect matte nails holding something expensive, gifts that she’s gotten, selfies with friends that are ALSO perfect. Occasionally has a selfie with whoever she’s seeing at the moment. Maybe a few make up vids.

Fauli - don’t really talk about her anymore but she definitely has something (maybe twitter?) where she posts pics of her adorable service exoboar and occasionally mental health PSAs from the POV of a doctor. Actually, I think she’d have a youtube account.

Arif - doesn’t have one, or if he does, he doesn’t post on it and it’s probably one of those accounts that are barely active enough to be considered an active account, and no one can trace where it was sent from.

Nalakii - I... can’t imagine her having any sort of social media. Maybe she collects receipts for call outs on other Sith, but she would do so very privately so she can prove it without a doubt that Lord Whats-Their-Face isn’t actually working for the Empire. Or something like that. Anything that would help crumble whatever system exists.

Slovir - Also one of the toons I can’t imagine having a social media account. Or maybe he’s got this obscure myspace account that he hasn’t touched in forever.

Lei’ti - Space twitter, social activism based. Might have a youtube and have mini-lectures about activism as well.

Drelan - Github account where he helps people with their coding and also uploads tutorials in the most popular coding languages that exist in Star Wars. Is actually really good at teaching too, cuz he’s used to explaining things in layman’s terms. Probably fairly well known when it comes to the techie/coding side of the galaxy, but otherwise... Who’s Drelan????

ALIS - is a more sophisticated version of aiweirdness - aka that blog that gets an AI to name things like guinea pigs, paint colors, etc. Is actually run by an AI.

Howlite - Youtube chef. Channel consists solely of cooking foodporn and reviews on certain food brands, kitchen utensils, appliances. Specializes in Chiss fusion food. I’m kind of imagining it like those Korean food fusion trucks, except more refined since he works for himself and doesn’t run a food truck. But lots of spicy fusion foods :D

Davi - Also has an instagram account, though this one is less lux and more neon and outlandish. Definitely not sophisticated/elegant compared to their best fwb Xyraan. Probably has two accounts - a personal and a work one.

Personal one has lots of clubbing pix and videos, selfies with the bartenders at the bar they always go to (loud, proud, get used to it). Occasionally has pix of fistfight aftermath. Definitely uses lots of capslock in their captions and way too many hashtags.

Work one is their informal portfolio - pix of their work after they finish a piece, also designs for clients who want a very specific tattoo, etc.

Wanwo - Twitter account where he just liveblogs his life pretty much. He does use discretion when it comes to more classified things - eg most of his time as Outlander. Definitely takes pix of when he goes camping with friends and/or family, and honestly, those pix are so aesthetically pleasing, it’d make my city-born-and-raised ass want to camp.

Ying Zii - He might be a photographer as a hobby, now I think about it? And would focus on nature based photos - capturing moments that are otherwise unseen or unnoticed or that pass by too quickly.

Kara Wren - Definitely runs the warriormando blog on space tumblr. The grammar structures they use would definitely sound better in Mando’a, but the point isn’t the grammar structures but the message. Whether they run the blog seriously or ironically, is not clear. Probably a mix of both.

Otherwise, they’d maybe run a camping/nature aesthetic blog/instagram.

... y’know, now i think about it, i don’t know if i ever figured out that point, but i guess now’s as good a time as any to figure it out :D 

Elanii realized she wasn’t Force-sensitive early on. She couldn’t do the things either of her mommies could, or even the same things her little sister could. It never really did stop her from trying, though. 

After seeing Mama Azu lift up one of the cooking spoons with the Force, she tried it too. Elanii climbed on top of the counter and stared real hard at the spoon and concentrated on it and tried to pretend for it to lift and it didn’t work. 

After seeing Mama Lei lift the table up without touching it, Elanii tried too. She held her arm out and copied the same moves that Mama Lei made with her hand and it didn’t work. It didn’t even work with two arms or two hands.

For Elanii, the thing that made her mad the most was seeing the things her little sister could do, but she couldn’t. She was the big sister, she was supposed to learn it before her little sister did! How come she couldn’t make the toys float, or throw the ball that far, or things like that? It wasn’t fair. She was the big sister, not Kadryd.

Grandpa Rakheshi tried to sit her down and explain, but it wasn’t like he knew what was going on, either. He could use the Force, just like the rest of her family, and she couldn’t. Why couldn’t she!

Kara eventually took her to see their parents, cuz their weren’t Force-sensitive. Kara was Togruta just like Kadryd and Uncle Wanwo, but Kara’s parents weren’t. One was pink and one was gray, and the pink one said that their hair would some day match the gray one’s skin because he caused them so much stress. Elanii didn’t get it. The pink one was called ba’buir Shenko and the gray one was called ba’buir Xal. Kara said ba’buir was their language's version of grandma or grandpa, but it could be used for grandmas and grandpas and grandparents. Which made more sense than having three words for one thing. 

Anyway, ba’buir Shenko and ba’buir Xal sat her down and said that the Force wasn’t a thing most people had. It was just that all the people that she knew had it. There were more people who couldn’t use the Force than people who could. It was just that the people who could use the Force didn’t have many people to teach them, so they all gather in one area and learn from each other. It was like how some animals stick in packs, cuz they worked together. And even if someone in the pack couldn’t do all the things the others could, they help each other out.

Ba’buir Shenko and ba’buir Xal took her hands and walked her to the market, and everyone was using the same language that Kara used and that their parents used. Ba’buir Shenko picked up Elanii and put her on their hip and pointed at everyone and said that no one here could use the Force. And there were a lot of people. There were togruta and humans and all sorts of aliens. Some of them, she hadn’t seen before, and when Elanii would point them out, ba’buir Shenko would nod and say that person can’t use the Force either. And then when they took her to the playground, no one there could use it either. Elanii checked. Elanii asked everyone at the playground, and ba’buir Shenko was right. 

Ba’buir Xal asked if Elanii knew what a pie chart was, and Elanii nodded. Of course she did, she was ten! And then ba’buir Xal said that, if you split the pie up into two parts, one part with Force-sensitives and one part with non Force-sensitives, you wouldn’t even have one third or one fourth of the pie be Force-sensitives. He wasn’t sure how big the pie slice for Force-sensitives would be, but it was super super tiny. He even drew it in the sandbox.

Elanii sat down in the sandbox and stared at the pie chart he drew. And then Kara came up and asked if she would be able to count all the grains. Elanii told Kara that she didn’t know a big enough number to count that big. And then Kara said that, if you pretended that all the grains of sand was one person, maybe about five of those grains of sand would know how to use the Force.

Elanii told Kara that maybe all the sand should spread out more, cuz it looked like they all lived at her home. And then after Kara laughed at her joke and tickled her, Elanii looked at all the sand in the sand box, and all the sand outside the sandbox. And there was a lot of sand. Apparently, all the sand just decided to live together in a sand box that was shaped like her home. But outside of home, there was grass and dirt and rocks and water and mountains and trees and a lot of things that wasn’t sand.

So Elanii decided then that, even if she was jealous that everyone at home could use the Force, it’s okay. And Kara said there’d be times it’d feel like it wasn’t okay, and that feeling was okay too. Because Elanii was like a leaf inside a sand box. There were lots of leaves out there, she just happened to be the one inside the sand box. And it was lonely sometimes, but that was okay. She’d find other leaves later.

I forgot Rakheshi was like. over 60 years old at this point. I may have to recheck my timeline but... definitely over 60. I’m proud of this old man. :’)

“Well, Satele and I were never that close,” Theron explained, slouching back in the plush seat. “You know how it is, Master Azukni. Jedi and families and all of that.”

The zabrak Jedi nodded slowly, taking in his words. “Well, we do generally have rules and guidelines regarding attachments - it’s to help us focus on a larger picture. But as for family-“

“Mom!” A child burst through the door before Azukni could finish her sentence, another child following behind. “Elanii pulled my lekku again!”

Azukni nearly jumped from her seat, torn between rushing over to her togruta daughter and keeping this appointment that she had set up with Theron. Yet before the Jedi could respond, the other child spoke.

“Kadryd stole my starship though! She lifted it up in the air and I couldn’t get it down because she used the Force!” Elanii, the sith pureblood girl two and a hald years older than togruta child, pointed with an accusing finger.

The mother of the two looked between their faces, exasperated. “Mama Lei isn’t around to talk about this? I’m talking with Uncle Theron right now.”

“We couldn’t find Mama Lei and Uncle Rakheshi told us to find you!”

“He said that he didn’t want to get you or Mama Lei mad!”

The mother’s eyes darted from her children to Theron, who had yet to say a word about the interruption. “Um, go talk to Uncle Wanwo! And if he doesn’t know what to do, just- just tell him that Mama Azu and Mama Lei are busy and can’t help right now, okay?” And before the children could protest any further, she was on her feet and ushering her girls out, with the door closing behind them.

Theron’s eyes were trained on her face with an expression she couldn’t read. “Sorry Theron, I’ll have to make sure that we aren’t interrupted again in the future.” Master Azukni made her way back to her seat, more embarrassed by the interruption than anything else. Once she smoothed out her robes, she looked back towards Theron with an apologetic smile. “What were we talking about again?”

“I, uh, think we were talking about Jedi attachments, or-“

“Families! Right!” she filled in immediately. “Well, like I was saying, we do try to stay away from attachments, but as far as Jedi and families go...”

Azukni - she likes soft kisses. Soft as in things like nose kisses, cheek kisses, forehead kisses, chaste kisses against her lips.

Coshbyss - he’s not fond of kisses at all. he’s not into physical contact as a whole, actually. hugs he can tolerate, handshakes he has to, but that’s about it.

Elanii - she likes any kisses she can get tbh. both as a child and as an adult

Kadryd - she really couldn’t care less about kisses

Rakheshi - all about literally Every Kind of Kiss in the galaxy. He just really loves affection, both giving and receiving it.

Mirho - Kisses she sees as an act of intimacy, more ‘sacred’ than a hug but still rather ‘plain’ or ‘low’ as far as how it lists on the Intimacy Level List. So, basically, what I imagine what “average” is like lol.

Kutaau - She’s more fond of kisses than Mirho is, though she really prefers soft kisses like Azukni, as well as some more ‘intense’ kisses

Phida - She loveessss kissing. On the lips. (saying ‘kissed on the lips’ sounds so… middle school. juvenile.) Well, around the face, how about that?

Xyraan - loves just about every form of positive affection and attention she can get, so she loves kisses as well. Doesn’t really matter where the kiss is placed for her.

Fauli - Same as Kutaau - mostly soft kisses, with a few ‘more’ intimate ones such as the corner of the lips, neck (because hell if she could reach Spark’s actual face, with their height difference and all), that kinda thing.

Arif - loves gentle affection, so soft kisses are good. I think there’s a little avoidance (from what I don’t know) of anything really intense. I think he ideally pictures resting his head on someone’s shoulder, with the occasional kiss to the cheek. Watching a sunset over the water. Or in front of a fireplace. Just because.

Nalakii - hates literally every form of affection. she sees it as manipulation. Nalakii to Affection is like Me to Kiwi Fruit. I’m allergic and hate Kiwi Fruit.

Slovir - He likes bending Jedi rules (or snapping it in half entirely tbh) and maybe because of that, he prefers something more ‘intense’. Tongue, kisses over the chest and other places that are more intimate (because it doesn’t sound as elegant if I just say ‘dick’), etc.

Lei’ti - Isn’t fond of physical contact for the most part, but understands its importance to others. She’ll tolerate just about anything, if she has to. Ideally, she wouldn’t, unless she initiated a kiss, on her terms.

Xyrus - we don’t talk about Xyrus and his romantic/sexual preferences. It’s literally triggering to anyone who’s triggered by csa, rape, abuse, all that jazz.

Athenyia - She likes dominating in just about everything, including kisses. Lots of lip biting would be involved in order to establish that dominance. Hope you don’t mind, Skaeln. 

Drelan - likes soft kisses, but must be kisses away from his mouth. He likes romantic and sensual intimacy, but really hates sexual intimacy. He’s too ace for that shit.

ALIS - Just get confused when Drelan kisses her forehead, or even when he hugs her tight or anything. She doesn’t mind, she just doesn’t really understand intimacy on an emotional level.

Ming Long - loves all kinds of kisses, very much like Rakheshi. This includes sexual/in-that-direction kisses.

Roskah - Is very awkward and just doesn’t like any form of physical touch. He sees it as unnecessary, and strange, among other things. Being brought up surrounded by Jedi did not go in his favor.
