Note
9, 19, and 30 for whomever strikes your fancy 👀
Since you’re enabling me, I’ll do two for each questions to cover all of ‘em.
Questions from here
9.Is your oc afraid of touch or do they actively seek it out? Is there a reason for this? What are the exceptions?
Haider grew up with a lot of casual physical affection, not only from his parents but from the people at his hometown in general- they greeted each other with hugs, they held hands, his family was always a cuddle-pile after work, his parents gave him good morning and good night kisses- after his parents died and he had to leave, he lost this, very integral part of his life. So he’s always a bit touch-starved, and he’s anxious about people’s boundaries so he never really outright asks for it, but for the most part, he loves casual touches and physical affection. He really does give the Most Excellent Bear Hugs and his shoulders are made to lay your head on so it’s a win-win for everyone involved.
Sybilla, on the other hand, is most likely to deck someone in the face if they touch her without asking. It’s not even that she’s averse to touch- she’s really not, but those Scourge instincts are still so sharp that it takes a few beats for her to process what’s a threat and what’s not. She touches who she trusts, and there are few people in the world- maybe just Lucio (possibly Haider too), who can touch her unawares and live to tell the tale.
19. If someone was describing your oc to someone who had never met them, what distinguishing features would they mention? How would one identify your oc in a crowd?
Balam kept her East-Prakran style of dressing long after she left home- so the bright colored blouse- creamy white brocaded shawl and wrap around, or the open-necked shirt-and-dhoti template, the lion’s head brooch, the nose ring, and the big metal jewelry sort of stands out even in a cosmopolitan city like Vesuvia. Also, the brilliantly multi-colored king-cobra tattoo on her left forearm draws a few eyes, and if you get close enough to notice, the tongue-piercing.
There’s a reason Zurkhi has friends who are gifted in illusion and disguise related magic. He’s good at stealth, but once you see him without the disguises, you’re likely to remember him. The face-scar, of course is the biggest marker- if you don’t catch that, he’s likely covering it with his wispy, uneven, violently blood-red hair, which...really doesn’t take attention away.
30. What topics does your oc know the most about? Are these obvious or would these be surprising to others?
Nurlan isn’t bookish, exactly- she picks up a wide variety of knowledge from her wide variety of friends and experiences. She can tell you a lot about Vesuvia, for instance- the politics and scandals and gossip and where you can go for what. Renovating an inn made her attuned to things like furnishings and the quality of wood and cloth- Her involvement with the theatre got her interested in theatrical trends and traditions from different territories- she can tell you about costumes and set designs and narrative conventions. She’s close with everyone who frequents the Sun Temple, young and old, priest and worshipper, and there’s a lot she can say about the subtle theological differences between the Sun-worshipping clans across the Southern Steppes and beyond.
She doesn’t really feel the need to wear I Know Things on her sleeve, so it really does catch you off guard when she casually drops in on the conversation with “the stage-benediction convention came to Vesuvia from ritual traditions from the South, actually-” without really making a big deal out of it.
Kadambari is also obviously, well versed in the Arts. She’s trained under some of the best names in music and dance, and there’s not a lot that’s not on her repertoire- she has this airy-fairy, absent minded thing about her, but she also keeps a running commentary of notations and inspirations and her favorite pieces and instruments, and given that, along with her profession of choice, it doesn’t really surprise anyone. What does surprise people is how much she knows about weaponry- her warrior-family ties are rather unapparent unless you’re familiar with the Naayagi name, and even if she was terrible at combat, and has the general demeanor that suggests that Fighty Things are the farthest from who she is, Kaathu still has the knowledge about weaponry and warriors’ codes of conduct that most others aren’t familiar with.
