This is a candy pack from a Kabaya Turaga set from 2001. Having been sealed in a bag, that itself was in a box for almost a quarter of a century, it will surely have been sheltered from the ravages of time.

One of these days I'll complete a wave and build that ultimate figure.

You'd think it would be this one - consisting of only 4 figures, pulling from the series earliest entries in celebration of their 20th anniversary.

An easy one to collect and build - but still I only picked up this one.

I guess I have trouble committing.

The above is a sticker made by the company Kabaya, my best guess in the early 80s but there's no date listed I can find. Interestingly it includes a full English description along with Japanese. Full text below for easier reading:

He joined the Zion Army to take revenge on the Zabi Family. He is twenty years old and 175 cm in height.

Sword Art Online Part 2

Initially, I was a bit puzzled as to why Sword Art Online was included in the course, but after reading “Simulacra and Simulation”, I can see SAO being viewed from that kind of perspective. 

A big, emotional part of the anime is episode 14, the end of the Aincrad arc, where Kirito fights Heathcliff(Kabaya) and frees all the trapped players from the game. After Asuna sacrifices herself to block an attack from Heathcliff and disappears, Kirito is completely broken, no longer having the strength to fight. For Kirito, Aincrad had become his reality. I think another part in episode 10 also illustrates this. Kirito is forced to kill Kuradeel and he anguishes over it since he essentially ended someone's life. In a way, SAO forces the players to view the game as their new reality. 

I think Kabaya is the same too. In his conversation with Kirito and Asuna at the end, Kabaya says, “I wanted to fly up and reach that castle. That was all I desired for the longest time. I still believe that the castle exists in some other world.” Kabaya became so obsessed with creating his virtual world, he lost his grip on reality, with Aincrad becoming his new one.

20240419: the History of LEGO Castle day 110. 1287 / 4801 / 4811 Crossbows / Defense Archer (2000, 16 pieces, 8 different parts) Crossbows is built on two green 4x4 plates with a black rotating 4x4 turn table, two black 1x1 headlight bricks holding one dark gray crossbow on each side with a light gray triangular shield with a yellow lion head with a black mane and yellow crown on a blue background with a yellow "x" across the back. The one minifigure for this set is listed as a Knights Kingdom knight and has a dark gray pike helmet, a yellow minifigure head with black curly mustache and goatee and black bangs with gray streaks, a dark gray torso with red arms and a chain mail pattern at the neck and silver breast plate print, and black legs with silver plates on the thighs and a black belt with green and silver print. This minifigure is found in six sets, 1287 / 4801 / 4811 Crossbows / Defense Archer, 4816 Knight's Catapult, 6026 King Leo, 6091 / 6098 King Leo's Castle, 6094 Guarded Treasury, and 6095 Royal Joust. 1287 was released only in Japan as part of the Kabaya sweets promotional series, while 4801 was the box version of the set and 4811 the polybag version. This set also appeared as part of a four-pack, including 1286 King Leo's Cart, 1287 Crossbows, 1288 Fire Cart, and 1289 Catapult. So I guess Infinite Fusion is like if Pokemon actually improved the game and allowed you to create hybrid Pokemon. It's a fan game, and I guess instead of having auto generated fusions people contribute the fusion art? So these are like sneaky Bionicle reference fusions. The artist said on Reddit these would probably be added about three weeks from when I'm re-posting this, and you might have to manually upload a sprite pack.

I, personally, just want a whole game of the Bioniclémon. It kind of looks like if the Kabaya combos had an anime. So cute.
