Okay, I swear I'll shut up after this. I love the music. Do not get me wrong, I adore the music for all the Favreau/Filoni shows, Ludwig Göransson's score and everything that's evolved from it is killer.
But they're using the Rebels music, and that music somehow has a way of going straight to my core. I started tearing up just hearing the first strains of Ahsoka's theme even though I was prepared for it. But when Hera's started? When Sabine's beautiful theme (that's never gotten an official release beyond the Trials of the Darksaber episode guide on StarWars.com) started? And those brief teases of Thrawn and Ezra? I'm choking up just thinking about it. My autistic brain latches on to music so tightly and these melodies bring back such good feelings and I'm so happy they got the Kiners back. I don't know why I was so afraid they wouldn't, but I'm just so relieved they did.
If they never put out official soundtracks for Seasons 3 and 4 of Rebels, we at least have the inevitable Ahsoka soundtrack coming. I'll take it. 🤣🤣😭😭
#Star Wars Ahsoka#Ahsoka series#Ahsoka#Star Wars Rebels#SW Rebels#K8 Rambles about Star Wars#I'm sorry I'm a music nerd#I'm the only one in my immediate family who *wasn't* in either school marching band or orchestra#And I briefly took piano lessons before I hit a real sucky autism/depression patch that made me quit#I just really love SW scores 🤣#I promise now I'll shut up and go to bed!

Going to uni in the same city I lived in all my life is a bit of an experience
Because on the one hand, many more people I've never seen bc people are more likely to travel from other cities, states, and even countries to attend the university
But on the other I'm also suddenly seeing people I haven't seen in years or I vaguely recognize because there's obviously others who decided to stay in town
Like seriously I've come across people I was seeing just last year in high school, some people I last saw in middle school, and I swear some people I haven't seen since elementary school
And it's so weird. But also I'm absolutely not mentioning it bc some of them it's been almost a decade since we saw each other and it'd just be super awkward
#And the only reason i recognize some of them is bc i attended the same small shitty k8 school for 9 years#and some of them were smart enough to ditch after fifth grade#amber's shit you can ignore

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💗
Ughhhhhhh, I took so long to reply to this, but thank you for the ask!!! I'm always happy to get the chance to talk about my stories. God, I've written so much shit that it's hard to pick, but like a kid with a scab, pick I shall.
5. Memoirs
Memoirs is just a silly little thing my girlfriend and I have been working on for the past few months about post-gm Taylor in Kennet. This story gets the number five spot not because I think it's bad, but because my beautiful girlfriend does a lot of the heavy lifting with plotting and characterization because I haven't read Pale. I'm simply there to add where I can. Lovely story, though, and I can't wait for it to reach its ending. I love stories exploring how Taylor deals with everything after it all ends, and K8 really is the queen of that genre.
4. High School Abusical
Alright, this was one of the first stories I wrote on my own that I was really proud of. This whole story spawned from a conversation with the absolute genius user Foxtail about how clusters are always so boring because people usually gen random characters that have no relation to each other when those existing relationships being twisted up into a trigger can lead to so much more fun. The main premise is that Taylor is in a cluster with the Trio. I really would like to get back to this fic someday. I had a lot of fun ideas I wanted to implement, and the way all these girls play off each other is so delightful. I was informed after the fact I got the way clusters work wrong when making the powers, which has really been the only thing holding me from continuing. I can't convince myself to write when such an integral part of the story is off. Maybe I'll redo those someday...
3. Self Implant
Self Implant, my beloved. Fun fact, this was a gift to K8 for her birthday. Bonesaw gets a person in her head, trying to take a crack at playing her conscience. Now, this might surprise some of you, but I really like Bonesaw. I love playing around with her, and this story is just an excuse to do that for one million words. Like a little bug in a jar that I'm feeding enrichment to. This story really just gets me excited. I really, really need to put some more out there, for my own sake if no one else's
2. Severed
Severed!!!!!!! A story about Taylor joining the nine and the consequences there of. Also, the only story I wrote that has the dubious honor of actually driving someone crazy in real life. This story means a lot to me. Severed was the reason that I first started talking to my girlfriend (she wrote the amazing AU of it, Soliloquy), and for that alone, it will always be near the top for me. I think this story is where I really kind of took off as a writer, started getting past a lot of the mistakes that plagued my earlier stuff. It still has tons of grammatical errors, hard to get those right when youre inebriated most of the time, but this story has a lot of my feelings wrapped up in it, a lot of myself wrapped up into it, which will always boost it towards the top.
1. Felix Fortuna
Felix Fortuna is the best story I think I've ever written, and it's not even close. A story about Contessa going to Hogwarts that was originally written because of how much I disliked what Ward decided to do with her character. I feel like you can actually see me get better in real time as the story goes on. This was a collaborative effort with three other amazing authors (Pericardium, Maroon_Sweater, and Poe), and I think it really shows with all the care put into it. It lands at number one for a lot of reasons. It's got some of the best prose of anything I've written, it's the most well constructed of my stories, I love every character from Fortuna to Flavia to Jessica and Angelique. But mostly I like it best because I, at my heart, am a massive softy. When it comes to it, more than anything, I want a story where a character I really love finally gets a happy ending.

Best Underrated Anime Group K Round 1: #K8 vs #K1
#K8: Fishing with friends (both human & alien)
Yuki Sanada has always felt like a fish out of water. Socially awkward and anxious, he struggles to fit in with his surroundings and moves from town to town with his grandma. As he and his grandma settle into the charming seaside town of Enoshima, Yuki hopes for a fresh start. However, his reputation at school is jeopardized by the arrival of fellow transfer student Haru. The eccentric Haru immediately makes a splash, wildly claiming to be an alien and declaring that Yuki is his friend. Pairing the reluctant Yuki with their classmate and fishing talent, Natsuki Usami, he tasks both of them with the absurd mission of saving the world from a mysterious threat in the ocean. Mischief and hijinks ensue, as these three embark on a whimsical adventure filled with laughs, heart, and self-discovery!
#K1: A state auditor finds himself the center of a coup
ACCA—a national body of the kingdom of Dowa that provides public services to the citizens of the country—was established as part of the peace settlement between the king of Dowa and the 13 states of the country during a revolt. One hundred years later, Dowa is in a period of unprecedented peace, due in part to the ACCA system. However, rumors of a coup d'état start to surface. Jean Otus, the second-in-command of the inspection department of ACCA, is charged with inspecting all 13 state branches. What will he discover as he performs his audit?
Titles, propagandas, trailers, and poll under the cut!
#K8: Tsuritama
youtube
Propaganda 1:
Tsuritama is a heartfelt show about learning to cope with anxiety by building confidence through learning new skills (fishing). It’s also about learning to be vulnerable with others and rely on them. The soundtrack is almost entirely recorder, as they asked the Kuricorder Quartet to put it together for the show. On top of that, the color scheme is very bright and hopeful.
Propaganda 2:
This show left me feeling both happy and incredibly emotional. It started off very goofy but really reels you in (get it? Reels?) and becomes quite an emotional journey at the end. Also, the art style is really beautiful and colorful and the opening is a bop!
Trigger Warnings: None.
#K1: ACCA: 13th Territory Inspection Department (ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka)
youtube
Propaganda:
Acca-13 is a master work of political intrigue neatly wrapped up into 12 episodes. Every moment in the show has meaning, every textual personal preference ties back to some larger plot point, and every character has their own goals, values and machinations that at first seem overwhelming but in hindsight are crystal clear. Despite very little time spent on exposition for this fully fictional 13-district country with a unique governing system, it’s well-built and by the climax of the show the audience knows exactly who and what are at stake. The plot twists are SUBLIME—that perfect combination of a blindside and inevitable.
That’s not to say that it loses out on characterization in favor of plot! The characters are human and down-to-earth, with the show using a realistic, simple style of animation that allows wonderfully subtle expression. Both the sub and the dub are excellent. I have watched this show at least eight times, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I have picked up another layer of plot, another thread of characterization that I’d missed before but had carried and explained a moment of the narrative.
Also, there is ZERO fanservice. ONLY food service. Watch it with snacks handy. For the trailer I'm actually linking the opening, one of the best anime OPs to ever be made.
Trigger Warnings: Smoking

[ID: A series of tweets responding to an original tweet by Rob @.redpilledhomo that says "Fellow Milennials: How many 'trans kids' did you go to school with? There you go. It's a social contagion. A fad. And it's causing lifelong harm to confused, vulnerable youth." The responses are as follows
Margaret Killjoy @.magpiekilljoy: "I tried to change my name to Kelly in 4th grade but was already getting beaten up too badly. When I was in high school starting a GSA, the head of the GSA at the next school was hospitalized for being gay. Our GSA had no out queer people in it."
Brandy Bryant @.InkMasterbator: "Millennial here! I tried socially transitioning at 14 in 1999 and was nearly beat to death for it, left with a broken nose and a hospital stay. It didn't stop me from eventually transitioning but I hope this helped answer your asinine question."
Just Izzy @.IzzyKamikaze: "I'm 61. Nobody in my school came out as gay while we were in school. Does that mean we didn't exist? When we came out a few years later, after we found other gay people, was that "social contagion?" That's certainly what our parents thought. They were wrong & so is Rob."
Sizzle @.McGirritable: "Remember in the 90s and early 2000s when they said bisexuality was a social contagion, a fad? That it was causing lifelong harm to confused, vulnerable youth? Because I do. And yet we didn't go anywhere, and neither will our trans family. Keep crying about it."
pocky chinchilla @.pockychinchilla: "I tried to come out at 17, but got so much pushback I went into the closet for 13 years. My friend (also later transitioned) noticed I'd shaved my legs, but I was too embarrassed to talk about it. We tried to start a GSA, but the school kept moving the goalposts. We existed."
anemone @.ecoevoexo: "I first tried to come out in 1996, was punished into silence. In 2005 I tried to come out, was told trans lesbians didn't exist & ignores. In 2006 I came out in secret to a friend. In 2013 I publicly transitioned. In 2024 I still see ppl saying this is new & a social contagion."
K8 @.katelyn__ann: "I graduated in 04. In the last five years TEN of my 300 classmates have come out as trans. The social contagion of hate kept them living lives inauthentic to how they felt. Talking to all of them, they expressed that they wish they could have lived their truth earlier."
@.dumbmailguy: "My grandfather's Catholic school growing up tied his left hand behind his back, but I'm sure my three cousins who turned out left handed are just doing it for social clout."

Best Underrated Anime Group K Round 3: #K8 vs #K2
#K8: Fishing with friends (both human & alien)
#K2: A show where any universe/plot is possible
Details and poll under the cut!
#K8: Tsuritama
youtube
Summary:
#K2: Beryl and Sapphire (Xiaolü He Xiaolan)
Summary:
The series is based on a manhua where the main characters are drawn as stick figures, so they can be placed in any situation, essentially making different AUs canon while any genre is possible. Some of these stories have overarching plots (they’re sort of like actors), some are more slice-of-life, and some have more hard-hitting moments of angst or occasionally cute, romantic stories between the leads: the mild-mannered Beryl (Green) and the easily-embarrassed Sapphire (Blue).
In this show where each episode is set in a different world, how would they encounter each other time and again?
Propaganda:
It’s genuinely just such a cool concept! Getting to see these characters in practically any story/setting while still featuring the (usually same) main characters means you still get attached to the main cast, but you really get a diverse range of plots and ideas.
You may find yourself getting super attached to one (as I did for the Robo-Beryl arc, because I liked the character of Robo-Beryl but I also found Sapphire’s shyness/crushing adorable), and many of even the shortest ones are really interesting.
The OP even features them as actors and the title cards are film clapboards, which is such a cool way to tie in the main set-up!
Plus, because the manhua features them as stick figures, Ocarina (the original creator of Beryl and Sapphire) has way more room to explore deep ideas or just silly jokes; the flexibility of stick figures means we get lots of deep, philosophical writing/dialogue, and the donghua adapts that quite well.
Beryl is fun and Sapphire is super cute, and I love seeing how they interact in different universes/stories (and yes, they are very shippable!). Their default design is technically male, but sometimes they’re female too.
Some of the storylines are also super creative and really really do just punch you in the gut with feels. I don’t think I’ll ever forget some of the more tragic arcs…
Yet at the end of the day, Beryl and Sapphire is a really cute donghua, with a lot of feel-good stories to it! It even finally came back after like 4 years with season 2, which focuses on one of the over-arching arcs (the Demon King Beryl one), and we’re still getting discussions of deeper ideas alongside comedy, and Beryl and Sapphire are as cute as ever!
The new art style is quite pretty and hey, if you’re a fan of the playful, teasing (yet still can be rather emotionally reserved) type and the easily blushy type, Beryl and Sapphire may just be for you! 😉
Trigger Warnings: None.

A few of Ben Solo's students are in my Engineering class, so I do have some Force adepts helping me out on occasion, just not outside of school hours. And never when I seem to have left all the stuff I need aaaaaaaaall the way across the room.
I usually have K8-T3 around, too, but yesterday she said she couldn't help because she was "busy" (No, she did not elaborate. I try not to ask questions when she runs off to do her own thing. It keeps me from being an accomplice.).
So I'm usually okay, just really lazy lol Thanks for the offer, though!
Was tired of running around my shop all day to find tools I needed, so I went to the holonet and searched "how to learn Force Pull".
Apparently, you really can't just *learn* Force tricks if you're not already a Force adept. You gotta have those "midichlorians" or whatever. And I'm pretty sure I don't have any of those.
Unfair. If the universe didn't have the kindness in its heart to make me tall enough to, like, reach the stuff on the top shelf at the Space Station Depot, it could have at least given me a boost (pun intended) elsewhere.
