What do you guys reckon Nori's original plan was after she found the crucifix?
Like, if the gang hadn't gone to the labs and fell down the elevator shaft, what was she going to do after finding it?
Presumably, she'd use it on herself first (if there's a need to) but then what? She was pretty adamant about avoiding Uzi, but surely she'd have to bring it to the surface to patch her and Doll. It's not like she could just leave the two of them open to possession. She did tell N she was looking for Khan, though.
So was the plan to just climb back up there, give it the thing to Khan, and go: "Hey handsome, go jam this thing into Uzi and Yeva's kid's faces for me. K byeeeeee." Then go back to listening to nightcore next to the hell pit forever?
cuz that sounds like a real shit plan, Nori

Diversity win! hater girl lesbians.
today has gone well 💜💛
they're dancing in the sky together omfg I'm so happy
*GHASP!* PROFANITY!
yay!! im actually really happy and satisfied with that ending.
but lemme make something very clear to y'all, just cuz its ended, don't mean its over. I'm still gonna make art and write shit and finish my au's (eventually, get off my dick, I'm slow) I don't wanna see nobody packing up shop to just because this is the last episode (that we know of, I trust nothing and no one) does not mean there is nothing left to do. I got questions. many, MANY questions.
why is Cyn like that in the first place?
how did she get demon powers?
are there any humans left or are they extinct?
is Nori ever gonna come back and see Kahn?
what happened to J? did they kill her? like, for real this time?
and lets not ignore this
I don't know how seriously I should take this since it's probably just a joke but is this ok? She looks very tired. can we really just leave it like this??
we got murder drones intermission, somebody should make murder drones aftermath.
k bye. [link to first post]

Excessive silliness below the cut, but suffice it to say, my collection has hit a truly absurd degree of perfect for me.
Ok,
I recently got the last doll I ordered in (Moss), and am super excited cause she seems to perfectly fit into what was the only remaining gap in my collection. And, as the other doll I bought over the summer (Jameson) really served to pull my "main group" together, I've been feeling incredibly content with my bjds.
Things may change of course, I have a history of being a revolving door collector, but I honestly haven't felt any urge to buy new dolls at all since I ordered the last two.
Now for the fun, funny, and entirely coincidental reason my collection has reached Perfection. The Numbers. I'm terrible at math, but I love serendipitous number patterns. My absolute favorite numbers are 3, 4, 7, and 13.
- 3 each: anthro dolls, fantasy SDs, and MSDs
- 4: there's 16 in total, which makes for a perfect 4x4 grid, and there's four doll groups- anthros, fantasy SDs, modern SD+s, and MSDs
- 7 each: my main focus group is 7 (the modern SD+s), and, removing the stranger resin colors of orange and black, there are 7 dolls with fair resin and 7 with tan.
- 13: there's 13 humanoid dolls altogether!
Honestly, this group couldn't have worked out any better if I planned it, especially since hilariously serendipitous numbers coincided perfectly with my feeling wonderfully content with my crew. Super looking forward to just working on and enjoying all of them for a good while.
All dolls, in left to right top to bottom reading order.
Poesy: Doll Leaves Dreaming Jax on a modded (by u4bik) Doll Chateau B body 07, white resin.
Moss: Do Dolls Dream- Miss Marionette- Lullabye Miss Ao, woodland echo resin.
Lorne: Little Rebel Sarang, caramel resin (?), on a dyed Dollstown 18 girl body.
Remy: Seed Arts Peabody on a Spiritdoll Smart girl body, ns (?).
Kulog: modded (by seed arts) Joydoll Lai on a Dollstown old 15 boy body, dyed tan.
Jameson: OOAK 3D printed custom Meeksdoll on a *heavily* modded (by milkweed_and_honeybjds) resinsoul sd boy body, dollstown 15 hands, so many colors and copious airbrushing.
Simon: Maskcat doll mini cat doll dyed orange.
Kit: Seed Arts Peabody on a Luts Kid Delf boy body, ns (?).
Jae-Seong: K Doll Khan (full doll!), ns (?).
Harlow: Little Rebel Noelle, caramel resin, on a dyed Doll Family H 62cm boy body (version 5).
"Mouseman:" Rumple doll Morfeo, ns (?), on a dyed Doll Family H 68cm boy body (version 2).
Bruce: Cocoriang Mocka, dyed black.
Damon: Meeksdoll Labellas Emerson, rich resin.
Sascha: Seed Arts Peabody, ooak tan from artist's personal collection, on a Dollzone B45-18 boy body, tan resin.

Iron Branch T-doll profile: GMC-F 720Lb “Portland Mary” S/N 23-9987
Given Name: N/A
Call sign: “Ghengis Khan”
Operational Role: Squad Coordinator
Armament: LAR Grizzly Win Mag Mark V (x2), K-BAR 10.5” Tactical Knife
Ghengis Khan is a T-doll operator employed by the PMC Iron Branch, headquartered just out side of Salt Lake City, UT in the New North American Colonies. She’s a fairly contemplative doll who prefers thinking through situations rather than letting others determine what she should do. Her neural cloud is one of the most advanced on the civilian market, and she is a tactical genius, but a tactless dullard in social situations. With few acquaintances and fewer friends, Khan spends most of her time researching tactics or trying to persuade the requisition officers at Iron Branch to give her more dummy links, using logic and statistics of course.
Khan is a repurposed domestic android, similar to T-dolls produced by the I.O.P. labs in Europe. The 720L series of domestic dolls are some of the most prolific models in the New North American Colonies (NNAC) with aftermarket parts made in the PRC, NNAC, Mexico and Texas. Standard parts are manufactured in the PRC and the NNAC, but assembly happens solely in the GMC-Ford plant in Portland, OR, and the shipped androids are often only given serial numbers and a model name, rather than allowed to chose a name themselves, despite being advanced enough to do so. The 720Lb model is the “Mary” model, and the buyers are encouraged to name the dolls what they want, a part of the marketing that emphasizes the high amount of modularity and customization in the 720L series. Indeed the modularity and reliability of the 720L series is the cause of their popularity, despite the impressive price tag associated with them. As such they occupy many jobs and roles in NNAC society that would involve human to human interaction, such as customer service, flight attendant, secretarial work, nursing, care-giving, and for wealthier but ultimately less than sociable or savory individuals, wives and girlfriends. Though they are by no means anything other than dolls, their AI and bodies are high quality and durable, and repairs and debugging are relatively rare.
The Iron Branch technicians that reprogrammed 23-9987 were fairly elated to obtain a 720Lb model, as they rarely actually managed to get the requisitions officers of IB to see the usefulness of such an advanced neural cloud capability compared to the relatively higher cost of even used models. As such they implemented a new combat schema into 23-9987, the prototype of the “Sub-Commander Limited Operational Autonomy” protocols for the Squad Coordinator role. With this schema, 23-9987 would be able to make decisions usually reserved for the human Squad Handlers that oversee the movement and engagement of T-doll squads on missions. Iron Branch tactical squads are divided into two categories, and the schema for 23-9987 is to be a Squad Coordinator for a T-doll squad of up to 4 other T-dolls that uses conventional weapons and limited electronic warfare. The use of energy weapons, portable mass drivers, and destructive devices by non PRC forces is outlawed in the NNAC, and even if Iron Branch is not a white-listed PMC, such weapons are harder to hide the use of in populated areas.
Implementing the prototype schema wasn’t an easy process however, and in doing so the software programers of Iron Branch had to scrape out and reinitialize all of 23-9987’s memories and personality, almost lobotomizing her neural cloud and annihilating her ability to mimic human interaction. After installation of the schema and her reactivation, 23-9987 became a cold wall compared to a new off the line 720Lb or any 720L series at all. Her tonal inflection is limited, and her emotional expression is only technically varied, and often escapes the notice of her human handlers, who have to rely on 23-9987’s T-doll squadmates to relay such information. But her performance in the field is a testament to the superiority of the 720Lb’s neural cloud and the talent of the IB technicians. The only remaining part of her humanity left over is her simulated breathing protocols, which persist only because their removal somehow causes 23-9987 to not fully boot, or to crash shortly after booting when using the Sub-Commander schema.
Most of 23-9987’s body was augmented and replaced after being acquired by Iron Branch, her legs, arms, neck, and even shoulders, being replaced with high durability aftermarket parts to facilitate extended in-field performance. Part of the reason for her retrofit is the armament she was specifically programed for, dual Grizzly MkVs, which cause high impact on her whole titanium frame when used to their full potential. A product of jingoistic fervor and easy access manufacturing patents rather than practicality, the use of .50 AE is still quite effective against even some military grade androids, let alone unarmored humans or other dolls. Her limited magazine size and ammo carrying capacity require precise and accurate use of her only deployed firearms, and her lack of programing in other weapons platforms means that she can’t effectively adapt to fire fights without them. But that isn’t to say she is ignorant of their operation, as her Sub-Commander schema gives her access to their tactical uses in squad deployments, meaning she is encyclopedic in regards to her fellow T-dolls and their primary armaments and sidearms.
The Sub-Commander schema does not guarantee success in her missions and firefights, however, and human error and randomness can still create scenarios that outmatch the squads available resources or manpower. Case in point the mission that earned her the call sign, Ghengis Khan. After her first initial test missions as a Squad Coordinator, her squad was deployed on a fairly complex mission in Oklahoma City, OK, the edge of newly formed State of Texas. There they needed to secure three VIPs and extradite them to the NNAC for information extraction and prosecution. Unfortunately they were being held in city jail cell and due to be sent further south to Houston for trial in connection with a terrorist organization. The Squad was to strike at the jail as the VIPs were being transferred to a bus with other political prisoners. From there they would quickly escape to the highway using a getaway vehicle and be evacuated by air outside city limits. Unfortunately, the terrorist organization that the VIPs belonged to also wanted to jail break them at the same time and set off diversionary car bombs across the city to distract the local police. One of those car bombs went off directly next to the Iron Branch mobile command center several blocks away from the jail, killing the human handler for 23-9987’s squad. 23-9987 made the decision to move forward with the mission, engaging local police, state troopers, and the terrorists who started attacking the jail during the prisoner transfer. Her T-doll squad was heavily armed and armored, and took little casualties to secure the prison bus, but the VIPs hadn’t actually been transferred and were still inside the jail. 23-9987 then decided to have a squadmate drive the bus through the from of the jail, smashing inside and taking the firefight to the jail’s tight hallways. T-doll and human casualties were both fairly heavy by then and only 23-9987 actually made it to the VIP’s holding cells. Calculating that she couldn’t escort more than one VIP and fire her weapon at the same time, she executed two of the three in their cells and took the remaining VIP hostage. She then stole a cruiser from the motor pool and made her way out to the highway. But by the time she made it to the evac point, the local and state security forces were too close to safely transfer the VIP. 23-9987 then performed a limited neural cloud back up, handed the copy off to the VIP and split from him, lying and saying that the secondary evacuation zone was a safe house. She then drew the security forces away from him and ended up in a high speed chase for 30 miles, before crashing through a sound barrier next to the highway. The VIP was picked up by Iron Branch, along with the backup, concluding the mission. It was to date the single squad mission with the most casualties incurred and wouldn’t be surpassed for two years. The human handlers in Iron Branch dubbed 23-9987 “Ghengis Khan” for her cold and ruthless behavior and wrecking bloody havoc on enemy combatants and civilians alike in a major city.
Today some believe that Khan is cursed, that the intel officers never seem to accurately gauge the threats her squad will go up against, and even if she wins, casualties will be higher than they should be. Combined with her cold and aloof manner, and the possibility that she values mission success over the lives of even her handlers, which Iron Branch T-dolls aren’t supposed to do, mean that many handlers don’t want to command a squad with her in it. Indeed the technicians actually did go against the stated company mission statement and make her capable of both lying to her handlers and prioritizing mission success above everything else. But they still can’t make her choose engagements more cautiously, and struggle to obtain more 720Lb models in order to make more dummy links. She currently only has one dummy available and probably won’t get more anytime soon if her prototype schema isn’t ironed out.
Khan stands at 5’8”, taller than the average 720Lb by a few inches. Her face is a boiler plate design though, European-American, dark blue eyes, thin brows, a narrow but tall nose, almost aquiline, and thin, pink lips. Her hair is an artificially dark black and straight worn at neck length, no bangs to get in her line of vision, not that it would actually interfere with her sensor array. An abnormally strong jawline is the start of her aftermarket changes, the sturdier frame allowing her to stay oriented if hit with explosive force that isn’t immediately disabling, a thicker neck continues into a shoulder with that is about 1.25” wider than standard, as her actual shoulders had been replaced with the heavy duty farm use versions of the GMC-F 704Ac3 model. Not technically compatible, the IB techs did a surgcal replacement, leaving a gasket seam where they connect to her torso and her biceps, where the usual 730Lb heavy duty arms are used. The elbows and wrists are often the most replaced joints on Khan, thanks to the firepower of the Grizzly MkV. Her model comes with various sizes of breastforms to suit the customers desires, but if the techs had gotten their way, Khan would have been flat chested. Unfortunately, the servos responsible for her simulated breathing cause too much noise if left only lightly covered, the incessant whine a death knell for covert missions. As such they went with the smallest available size, a B-cup form, though on her wider frame is makes Khan appear barrel chested, especially in her issued body armor. Her torso and abdomen are reinforced to protect her core, making her hips appear less wide in comparison, even though they are the standard size for her model. The heavy duty legs have been modified to be longer to increase running speed and sensor distance, and she uses an exoskeleton to provide additional mobility and stability, at the cost of not being able to squeeze into tight places. Overall weight when battle ready tops out at about 355lbs, making her on the heavier side for any T-doll, let alone a handgun user. Such a sturdy frame is usually for shotgun users to reinforce their balistic shielding or military androids.

Personally, I think of Doll in the same way I think of Andrew Graves from The Coffin of Andy and Leyley (except I can actually sympathise with Doll unlike with Andrew, since he is a manipulative scumbag that relies on his sister's extreme version of a BPD to feel better about himself), both charismatic sociopaths capable of getting crowds of people to swarm for them through their good looks and unconventionally appealing auras; they only act as normal people out of a need to fulfill society's expectations of normalcy, with the main difference being that Doll actually has a moral compass thanks to Yeva and dad while Andrew never had parents that explained morality to him so he's entirely motivated by a fear of consequences.
The scene with Khan for me is a particularly painful one, and I don't think that Doll is as much at fault for it as Khan is. Like, this is the daughter of your wife's ex friend, your niece in technicality, she's basically your second more troubled daughter (trust me, we have a family friend that often comes to our house and we treat him as a second dad, literally calling him such), and what do you do when she tries to start a conversation with you? You accidentally downplay your first daughter's importance by making a joke out of it. Of course Doll would f##k off soon after, NGL but if there's one reason for me not to like Khan's character development is this scene, it really paints Khan as someone who only tries for his daughter.
Finally, regarding N's low empathy, and I wanted to let you know that I planned out a post addressing that specific aspect of his characterization by comparing him with another character from another fandom; but it's going to take a month for me to finally start because I am already working on other projects, and I don't want to publicly communicate the details in order to keep the surprise, so I'll just write you my idea in a private message so that only you could know.
V and Doll; trauma, mental disorder, and low empathy.
Very recently on my notifications I received a reblog by @aroaceweirdos101 to a response I've made to a post talking about how Doll went through so much more pain than V, and it made me realise that the response in question was actually, like, really good.
I had genuinely forgotten and underestimated how good of an analysis of both V, Doll, mental health and societal stigma it really was.
Now, of course, I disagree with the sentiment that Doll suffered more than V and fully believe that out of the two V endured way more pain and trauma than Doll; yet, although the responses in the comments checked out with what I previously said, they felt... meaner?
Like, the answers went to the opposite extreme of the original comment and tried to downplay Doll's trauma in comparison to V's, almost implying that Doll was a b##ch (which she was) for snapping as hard as she did when V still managed to retain a sense of restraint; and I disagreed with that, so in response I wrote this:
*Look, I believe both Doll and V are interesting characters, and although I feel more sympathetic towards Doll, I definitely believe V went through so much more pain than Doll and had way more reasons to snap and be the way she is now, but I just really hate people who use that as an excuse to label Doll has the more evil of the two or "she was always just a psycho, she just needed an excuse to snap"; it's especially disheartening when people straight up interpret her as unreademable or pure evil, when V and N's body count is 10 times higher than Doll's.
Also, I'm sorry but I really can't stomach the possibility of Liam redeeming the genocidal war machine and not the broken orphan created by said psycho, it literally would be the fictional pinnacle of "since these are the protagonists, they can get away with as much as they want and are always in the right"; I'm fine with the way Doll died because it was done by Cyn and there wasn't any moral lesson to be gained from our protagonists about it, but if it was done by N, Uzi, or worst of all V again, it should have played out like "we have reasons to do the things we do, and you have yours, unfortunately we're on opposite sides and you are hurting us so we must kill you now".
The human (worker drone) mind is extremely fragile, and some people, due to a probably inherited and undiagnosed mental illness or a particular personality type, are more at risk of snapping then other people, yet instead of being understanding towards those who are born with more issues than others (especially women, look up Azula or Ashley Graves) we tend to isolate, demonize and then kill them because they were incapable of fitting into the larger societal standard of acceptable social behaviour, even when said society never did anything to help them meet its unreachable standards because it required too much work from society's side to give you the special attention you needed in order to make you work and fit in.
V was a quiet kid because she was shy, Doll was a quiet kid because she was introverted. Those are two very different types of people and one of them (Doll) was inherently more at risk of developing mental health issues than the other due to their personality type and how it's stigmatized.*
Here's also the original post made by an anonymous user on @md-confessions
Also, here's the link to another post still talking about V and Doll. I made two comments in response, but neither of them is particularly well thought out and since you can't correct them I left them as they were.
Now, back to the highlighted part:
I want to use this response as a springboard to talk about the main differences between Doll and V when it comes to their different handling of their decaying mental health and why it's unfair to say that one of them was worse than the other based on their actions and attitude towards the problem.
(Also, all of the Murder Drones characters are extremely complex, and the fact that the show doesn't have filler makes it harder to get a good grip on one's particular mindset, so if it seems like I'm talking more about Doll than I am about V, it is because V is the most complicated character in the cast and I'm not as confident to talk about her as I am with Doll; it took one entire year to finally understand Doll as well as I do now, so V is a touchy subject for me that's why I might not do her justice).
First of all, it has to be said: Doll is a sociopath, V isn't, despite appearing like one. And that's ok.
When I say that I feel more sympathy towards Doll than I do for V, this is what I mean: I don't sympathise with Doll heartlessness more than I do with V jackassery; rather I understand and relate with Doll's low empathy since I also have low empathy as well, and it is quite common for people like us to be misunderstood for uncaring individuals.
It's the same reason why I and many others tend to like villains and sympathise with them more than we do with the heroes (Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2 is the perfect example for this); it's quite common for villains to be written as individuals with low empathy, as an highly empathetic individual tends to be harder for the audience to buy as an antagonist, since you need to justify why someone this caring is committing all this heinous and terrible stuff, but if that person is already unemphatetic by nature, than it's just a matter of establishing their goals and motivations. These people also tend to be ostracized by their environment and go through a gruesome and violent death because it's socially acceptable to let these despicable individuals find comeuppance through death since they lack the traits that make a person traditionally good.
So, when people use the "So what? She's got dead parents. Many others do, including Uzi, who's also infected with the Absolute Solver, yet they have not become cannibalistic serial killers obsessed with revenge" as a slight against Doll it's not entirely fair because from what we've gathered in the show the other worker drones don't suffer from sadistic impulses and sociopathy like Doll does, even if they (Rebecca) are pretty uncaring. (Side note, Uzi also suffers from sadism/sadistic impulses, but not from sociopathy, hence the main difference between the two).
V, on the other hand, despite what her introduction and psycho girl persona might trick you into believing, was never a sociopath nor did she struggle with low empathy, she was, instead, a pretty timid maid who suffered through unspeakable physical and psychological trauma that led her to adopt this fake identity to cope for the atrocities that she was now committing for the company (Absolute Solver) and the safety of N; V cared about N in a pretty normal person kind of way: she kept N at arms length and hid the truth from him so that he wouldn't get hurt, all while detaching herself from the actions she was now committing, not saying Doll wouldn't or didn't commit any of these actions, but V did them in a way that better aligns with someone who doesn't suffer from sociopathic disorder.
Speaking of N, since he has been mentioned, I'll say that while Uzi suffers from sadism but not low empathy (she has shown to be pretty empathetic many times), N doesn't suffer from sadism but from low empathy; as better explained by a section of this post made by @melissa-titanium :
N x Doll
Don't believe me? Then maybe you should rewatch the series again because N's unemphateticness is his own can of worms to delve into.
But back to Doll, it's time to dissolve (😏) one of the oldest misconceptions surrounding her character:
Doll reached out for help. A lot. She just didn't have any luck with it.
Call me crazy, but the more I thought about it, the more I realised that the fandom wide spread belief that Doll rejected all the help that was handed to her to be a massive lie, and in fact, Doll actually tried to reach out way more than you thought, arguably, even more than Uzi:
The impact that Yeva's education has had on Doll's life can only be noticed in this way: Yeva extended her hand to Nori and she accepted it, thus, it is fair to assume that Yeva taught Doll to be pretty open to others and to give a hand to someone in need (the show was rewritten after the pilot, so ignore the incongruences with Doll's initial characterization), and in fact, after enduring the trauma of watching her parents die, she opened up to Lizzie for help and support, unfortunately, Lizzie wasn't exactly the right person to talk about these things (no offence to her, all of Uzi's classmates suck for one reason or another, including Uzi herself, I guess that's what happens when you are stuck inside a bunker your whole life), after all, Doll was still killing and cannibalising her classmates.
Then, before she went back to gain her revenge, she tried to get Uzi on her side, which wasn't an attempt to open up, but she was still willing to connect, even if for the wrong reasons. Finally, once she discovers that Uzi also has the Absolute Solver, she promises to help her out, and at this point, Doll wishes to talk it out with Uzi, but because she is surrounded by the Disassembly Drones (V), she can't.
And now, for the most interesting discussion, there's this brief and frankly weird moment in episode 5 where Doll compliments Khan for raising Uzi, and while Khan laughs it off immediately, since he is a dumbass, this could have been a perfect opportunity for him to reach out to Doll and reason with her, since she's clearly putting aside whatever her objective actually is to talk to him, but he doesn't catch on, and this leads Doll to immediately closing herself off again and returning to the mission, and like, maybe we all kind of underestimated how much significance this moment carried, but consider this:
Doll, at this point in time, has been living out in the cold for what... a month? Six months? A YEAR? If we exclude J and Cyn from the equation, this is probably the only social interaction she ever had since The Promening, yet, because of Khan's lack of touch, she immediately reminds herself of the massive disconnection between her and the other workers (eh ehm sociopath) and thus storms off rapidly; this moment is actually quite painful when you look at it from this perspective, yet it's also, the only interpretation that makes sense? Otherwise how do you explain the existence of this moment when Murder Drones is a show infamous for his high plotting and lack of filler? They had to go out of their way to animate this, so why did they play it off in this way?
Tessa is a meanie
Penultimately, and again, I want to bring up a post by @capnsaltsquid since that's where I got the inspiration to write this paragraph off, Doll opened up to J and Tessa to get the answers she was seeking, yet not only Tessa shot her in the face for s###s and giggles, but then proceeded to fraternise with her parents murderers, and at this point, she closes herself off enough to realise that she might have to unintentionally kill Uzi and leave everyone in the dust if she wants to get anything at all.
But unfortunately, that is not the case, she dies of a lonely, meaningless, gruesome death, and at this point, she still tries and finally succeeds in reaching out to Uzi, and yet, like all of her previous tries, this is unsuccessful, as Uzi has other things in mind right now.
To wrap things up nicely, both V and Doll went through severe amounts of trauma and handled said trauma in a similar yet also different way, since they are different individuals who process emotions and love differently, thus the actions they took made sense for the person they were and should only be judged in the context of their writing and characterization.

While we still have three issues left featuring stories written by Karl Bollers, we’ve pretty much come to the end of his run as lead writer on Archie Sonic. As I’ve said many times, his work certainly had flaws, and there were stories of his that bored me. (I definitely could’ve done with less stories where Sally’s parents prevent her from joining the action.) But there were also many I quite enjoyed, and on average I’d say his stories were usually pretty okay. He definitely went out on a high note with Return to Angel Island, though. That’s for sure
In this post, I’d like to look over the list of scrapped story ideas listed on Bollers’ wiki page, and give some thoughts. Had he continued writing Sonic, this is what he would have done
Sonic and Amy becoming a couple after being stranded at sea together and keeping it a secret from Princess Sally.
Ehh... I’d have to see how this really played out. Sega was pushing SonAmy super hard at the time with Sonic X, though, and the Archie comics had barely even acknowledged Amy’s crush on Sonic, so I guess something like this had to happen eventually. I’m also sure it wouldn’t have lasted long, since it was obvious Bollers would have Sonic and Sally reconcile eventually
Tails reuniting with his parents by traveling into space on a modified Tornado.
This would’ve been pretty neat, honestly! I’d just hope that Tails wouldn’t stay out in space for too long
Amy's origins being explored in a fuller adaptation of Sonic CD.
Very cool! Definitely would’ve liked to see this. But Ian ended up doing more with Amy and incorporating the stories of the Genesis era games into the comics later on, so I guess we didn’t really lose much by not getting this story from Bollers
Knuckles departing Angel Island after learning that his presence exposes the location of the Master Emerald, going on a global pilgrimage to learn martial arts, and battling a Dr. Eggman controlled-Monkey Khan while under the control of the Iron Queen before discovering the Master Geode.
Now THIS sounds cool. While I’m not exactly a fan of Monkey Khan, I think sending Knuckles off on a big adventure and having him learn more fighting skills would be a great use of his character. Way better than having him sit around on Angel Island all day, that’s for sure. And after how great Return to Angel Island was, I would’ve loved to see more Knuckles stories from Bollers
Mammoth Mogul beginning to age rapidly due to his original Chaos Emerald running out of energy, forcing him to seek out alternative sources through illicit archaeological expeditions and hiring mercenaries like Nack the Weasel. The Master Geode, a powerful gemstone that would fulfill Mogul's needs, would be contested by him, the Iron Queen, Robotnik, and Rouge the Bat.
Also pretty cool. I’m assuming this is all part of the same overarching story as Knuckles’ martial arts training. It’d be fun to see this combination of new and old game characters as well as old Archie characters vying for power. I also love that all these forces would be vying for control of this powerful gem, but then Rouge is also there because... she just wants it. All of these characters would have their time to shine in Ian’s run, though
Sally being a pawn in a villainous plot by the corrupted Source of All and Ixis Naugus to prevent the future first previewed in Sonic In Your Face.
Antoine gaining his scar due to an accident with a knife and becoming a villain after allowing himself to be possessed by a corrupted Source of All in hopes of winning Bunnie back.
The Source of All surviving Robotropolis' destruction and reconstituting itself in a remote mountain range, beginning to exert control over King Max, brainwashing the Arachne and another group of Spiders known as the Strand, and possessing Antoine while under the control of Ixis Naugus.
We’ve already talked about this canceled subplot before, but oh man, I would’ve loved this. I always hated the concept of the Source of All, and the idea that Max’s actions were all justified by some sort of omniscient future vision. The Acorn family rituals surrounding the Source were also already extremely creepy, so turning their bonding with the Source into a bad thing would’ve been an incredibly easy pill to swallow
Bunnie and Antoine breaking up due to a change in Antoine's personality, with Bunnie's origins later being explored and her true name being revealed as Scarlette O'Hare
I mean, Bunnie’s last name being Rabbot (pronounced Rab-OH) was always silly, but I don’t know if we really needed this. Y’all know I’m down for more Bunnie, though
Rotor retiring from field duty in order to pursue a role analogous to that played by "Q" of James Bond fame.
They’d already been leaving him out of missions for years. I guess this makes sense, and at least turning him into the guy who makes the gadgets for everyone would give him a more clearly defined role
Locke and Lara-Le putting aside their previous disputes to help raise Knecapeon "Kneecaps" Mace after his father Wynmacher ends up in the Egg Grape Chamber.
I’ve talked about all this a bit before. Really not sure what to think of it. My gut instinct is that I don’t like the idea of Locke reuniting with Lara-Le at all. He hasn’t earned her forgiveness. But I’d have to see how Bollers wrote it, I guess
Robotnik kidnapping Hope Kintobor under the pretense that he is the only correct choice to be her legal guardian, while genuinely using her as bait to lure in Shadow the Hedgehog.
Not sure how I feel about Hope getting kidnapped, but the mental image of literal tyrant Dr. Eggman going to child protective services and pretending he’d be a good guardian for Hope as part of a scheme to get Shadow is really funny to me
Ixis Naugus attempting to return by transforming Max's body into a duplicate of his own, only to be thwarted by the destruction of the Crown of Acorns
I would’ve liked to see Naugus explored more, but hey! Ian sure used him a lot. So this is another case where we aren’t missing out on much
Nate Morgan surviving the destruction of Robotropolis, being De-Roboticized by the Bem, and returning as Coconuts' amnesia-addled ally, who creates a new Metal Sonic, Metal Amy, Metal Knuckles, and Tails Doll that are mistaken for Robian versions of the heroes.
This would’ve been a REALLY interesting development. Bollers was very open about how he hated the direction Nate Morgan had gone in and had some interesting plans to bring him back. And, well, this is it. Kind of reminds me of a certain subplot with Eggman in the IDW comics, except in reverse
I also love how this would’ve brought in Metal Knuckles, Tails Doll, and a new Metal Amy. Bollers really seemed to be enjoy bringing in elements from the older games in his later years at Archie, with much of the action in Return to Angel Island taking place in actual zones from S3&K. Getting Coconuts involved is also wild. This would’ve been a really fun story
Snively taking up a fifteen foot-tall mechanical battlesuit and the alias "Skarkus" in pursuit of revenge against Robotnik for leaving him alone against the Xorda, leading to an alliance between him and Shadow.
Yeah, this one sure is. Something. Honestly I have no idea how it would turn out. It’d be all about the execution
A.D.A.M. and NICOLE becoming romantically involved, leading to A.D.A.M. seizing control of the Shadowbot army and leading them from New Megaopolis to Knothole.
Okay I hate this one lol. But to be fair, I mostly hate it because the other writers ended up taking Nicole in a completely different direction and giving her her lynx form (and eventually pairing her with Sally). Bollers had no way of knowing that Nicole would become such a central character, so I can’t really blame him for having an idea like this, I guess
A new Dingo Regime leader named Colonel Mange being introduced, with Croctobot, Jack Rabbit, and Gala-Na being reintroduced as Robotnik Sub-Bosses over Downunda, the Great Desert, and Albion. This would have led to the disappearance of the Downunda Freedom Fighters and a confrontation involving the Mercian Freedom Fighters.
Ah, the beginnings of Eggman having Mobian sub-bosses working for him. I guess Kage in Return to Angel Island was really the start of this, but still. Gala-Na becoming a subordinate of Eggman actually makes a lot of sense to me. She was already an antagonist in the Chaos Knuckles arc, and it’s painfully obvious that the Albion echidnas are selfish pricks who only look out for themselves. If she thought that siding with Eggman would protect Albion, I totally think she’d sell out
Anti-Sonic coming to enjoy impersonating Sonic and enjoying the love of his parents and adulation of his people, leading him to plan to eliminate Sonic and permanently take his place.
This one’s also kinda interesting I suppose, although we definitely got no shortage of Anti-Sonic impersonating Sonic in the last year of Penders stories. Can’t say I’m dying to see this story told
---
So, all in all, definitely some interesting ideas! If there’s two major throughlines I see in this plans, it’s 1) bringing back forgotten elements from both the games and earlier comics and 2) reinventing Penders characters and concepts. Which makes a lot of sense, because that’s exactly what he was doing with Return to Angel Island
Part of me is sad that these stories were never told. The Source of All being evil and Knuckles’ martial arts training stand out to me in particular. But there are other ideas that are pretty similar to things Ian would do in his run, like Eggman having Mobian sub-bosses or Naugus coming back, so it’s hard to feel too sad. It’s also hard to know how good the execution would’ve been on these pitches
Of course, if there’s one thing I’m certain of, it’s that these stories probably would’ve been better than the ones we actually got from Penders and Chacon over the next year and a half

A BEHIND THE SCENES INTERVIEW WITH THE CAST & CREW OF THE CHANGING HOUSE.
q. please introduce yourselves to our readers.
hello i am red and i am the writer of the changing house.
i am kabir khan and i play the boy who returned.
i’am hugo reid and i am playing the dead man walking
hey guys i am mikhail kuryakyn and i am the thing that came to life.
these are code name’s for the characters so that you don’t mistake the out of character answer with the in character actions and plot points.
q. so red how did this project come about ?
r. well when i was thinking about how we have a personal self and a public self and how our home knows our personal and more truer self better than any other person because behind closed doors we are without the judgement of others and so we would be more open to partake in reading or doing stuff that other’s may not be able to see and so i thought it would be interesting to see the house react back to what we put into it. so the whole idea became that a person returns back to their childhood home and the home reacts with a great obsession because they have loved the boy and what he has always represented. and how since the boy left for so long the house becomes more desperate and more forceful in keeping him back.
q. so basically it’s a love story for our honesty?
r. yes. it is a love story based on the honesty in which we present ourselves and how that impacts others.’
q. to turn to the guys for a moment, you are in a weird love triangle. i say weird because hugo, you and mikhail’s characters are in love or rather infatuated with kabir’s character but there is a moment in which you both get together in the snippets of flashbacks we saw of your character hugo, what do you think the bases of that was?
h. well the whole thing is that my character and mikhail’s character have had the boy who returns in different ways before he left, and at the time that we started off our own relationship in the book we don’t know if the boy is ever going to return, and so we share the parts of him that we both have with the other. he has had his secrets and i have had his physical closeness. because even though there was a physical relationship between him as the home and the boy having lived in it it wasn’t intamite as ours was and so we need to fill that out in each other.
m. he’s right , we have to understand is that the primary person for each of them is the boy, but they use each other as a sub to have that fill of him. the boy was everything good for them and they both what everything they can get of him in the time that he is gone.
q. kabir what has been like getting the attention of these two as them and who they play.?
k. well in reference to the book it has been a both good and bad. the fact that the dead man is once again alive it undoes the boy completely in that his guilt is fully exposed and he becomes almost a doll for the other so that he can get his revenge because he is quite perplexed at how he is alive. while dealing with the thing that cam alive he starts to understand that he’s not going to be allowed out again and that becomes a great issue. so with them both he goes through stages of : thrill, guilt, self loathing, loathing and fear and just numbness at the end of it. but if i am considering the actors it has been fantastic because after every scene they have been extremely kind and helpful because we have to go dark. i don’t think i would want to do this with anyone else.
q. one word on what this project makes you feel?
r. challenged.
k. opened.
h. changed.
m. complicated.’
q. what do you guys think of your characters?
h. he is selfish but also heartbreaking. he loved so deeply that he couldn’t understand why he couldn’t be loved and that is why he does what he does. from his suicide to his abuse of the boy he wants him in every way.
m. he thinks himself the truth, that since he has seen the boy through so much he has some sort of power over him, but the thing is that he doesn’t know the internal workings of the boy and how what he might know of him might be changing and that makes him a villain because he thinks himself the absolute.
k. i think he’s a docile thing, but also some one with a sense of justice and that is why he at times allows himself to bend before the dead man and the thing that comes alive. i think that he is an innocent and wants to always do the right thing even though it may harm him and it is an interesting dynamic to play against the others.
q. i heard you one of you guys is has been keeping a journal of how things were for a someone during twenty or so odd years?
m. ( laughs.) i have been, i think there is a story to tell on even before the house became the thing that came a live because it had a great deal of thought processes before it even got tot the stage of moving and becoming human. like everything thinks and it has had so many people in and out of it but it has always been stuck on the one person. and i think that can really inform the story.
q. how about you hugo? no telling of the dead man’s story?
h. as of right now i think the snippets we have been getting through out the changing house is more then enough because i want people to try and put together a story themselves and see him as a guilty person rather then someone who should be able to explain away their current and past actions with claims of love cause if you truly cared and loved a person you wouldn’t hurt badly over and over again, when you do that you want power over them.
READ THE REST OF THE INTERVIEW IN THE CURRENT ISSUE OF WRITER’S SPIRIT OUT NOW.
