Shauna Shipman x Artist Reader thoughts
cw: nothing, pretty much just fluffy stuff
thinking about being the person who does the photography for Wiskayok's soccer teams (JV, men's, women's), and you have the biggest crush on the girls.
You're an artist, you know beauty, you see it everywhere.
So of course you can't stop yourself from doing some sketches of the girls while they practice... admiring their form and physique in your little sketchbook.
You've become a regular. Obviously because you're just waiting to take photos for the school newspaper... Totally because of that...
You're favourite one of them to draw is Shauna. She's solid with muscle in the arms and legs, her abs are defined but rounded, her frustratingly ethereal permanent pout, those big brown eyes, her standoffish personality. It's captivating to you.
You get invited on the trip to Nationals when the girls win to take the photos, besides, Lottie's dad can afford it.
When you crash, well, turns out your science skills and the anatomy skills that piggyback off of those pay off when you're faced with the plane crashing.
You have a vivid imagination. But in a million years? Never this.
You're more than faithful to help out with the wounded, but you get pretty damn seclusive, and you don't write or draw as much in your notebook.
When you all find the cabin you end up sleeping up in the attic because at night you run hot.
Only for Shauna to accidently mix up your journals/notebooks one dark and sleepy night and come across your sketches of the team, specifically her, and all the praise you've written, your admiring words towards her physique and skill.
She has half a head to register it, reading all the words. Words she's been waiting to hear all her life, words she's just frothing at the mouth for. Looks she's tearing at the soil for, to break free from that coffin that has her dug alive under the shadow of something she can't beat.
She carefully puts your journal back, keeping in mind the pages that praise her teammates and hold their images as well.
She doesn't fall asleep that night. Spending her time just gazing at your sleeping body in the light of the moon that reflects off the singular window in the attic onto your form.
She's a lot nicer to you after that night. You don't quite understand why she offers to take your chores, or give you some of her scraps. Or why she sneaks glances at you and starts to hang off of Jackie's side less.
Although you do notice an interesting smudge of a dried liquid, like water, that's burnt into the middle of the page with one of your sketches of Shauna Shipman with your words and thoughts on the girl.
You figure it must have just been some sweat from your hand, and close your notebook. Ready to start a new day of surviving in the summer wilderness you've found yourself in.

Greg Owen at LGBTQ Nation:
Fox News host Jesse Watters continues to impress with his imbecilic takes on gender, anything gay, trans issues â and now what heâs mischaracterizing as âgender season.â In a recent Fox News segment which Watters calls âDEI Thursday,â the one-time âfunnyâ Fox contributor and now pale imitation to Tucker Carlson twisted a nuanced personal video narrative, made by U.K. nonbinary activist Dee Whitnell, into a mocking takedown of a concept way over the JV hostâs head. In Whitnellâs video, released earlier this month, they talk about how their gender expression is affected by the seasons. âI feel more masculine in the summertime. I wear more masculine clothing, I wear shorts. I normally have my hair up more and I just feel more âboyâ, whereas in the winter â for some reason â girl mode comes out and Iâm loving skirts and dresses and having my hair down.â
âThis isnât saying that all trans individuals experience this because thatâs just not the case, or that seasons determine your gender identity or expression. However, it can influence it,â Whitnell explained. They described the concept as âgenderseasonâ. For Watters and the far-right outrage machine, the video was music to their ears â and an invitation to ridicule. With a Grinch smile spreading across his pancaked face, Watters snarked with glee. âBonfires, sandy beaches, pool parties, barbecues. Donât you love summer? I love summer so much Iâm thinking of identifying as it. Itâs called gender season,â he said. âMy pronoun: spring. But I might transition to summer.â Like notorious takes on kids identifying as cats and classrooms filled with litter boxes, Wattersâs lame comedy twisted Whitnellâs sincere and worthy thesis into an object of derision, mischaracterizing it as young people identifying as seasons.
Jesse Watters: unfunny moron.

Spy Deal
Pairing: Charlie Conway x fem!reader
Summary: Coach Orion has a little job for his younger sister.
Warnings: Charlie's anger issues lol
A/N: I think I'll make a part 2 for this.
Word Count: 1.9k
Coach Bombay had heard wonders about you, since he had met Ted Orion, to him you were the best marketer in the Hockey world, of course, Orion was a bit biased considering you were his younger sister. You had controlled advertisements for some of the biggest teams in the USA, even the National team. At your ripe age of sixteen you were really making a name for yourself.
"Y/N!" Your older brother called through to you, for a few years you had been living in Minneapolis with your brother, his wife and your niece, Jen.
You left your bedroom and walked down the wooded corridor to the living room, "yeah what's up?"
"I have a little research job for you, perhaps you could help me learn more about this new team I'm taking on this year," he told you, offering you a seat on the sofa across for him.
You were instantly interested, your work had been quiet ever since the local hockey team had moved on to bigger things, "yeah I would be happy to help, under one condition."
He let out a chuckle, despite being twenty-two years older than you, you always had a price when it came to a bit of help, "okay, okay, you help and I we go on a brother-sister laser tag and sweetie shop run. Just like the old days."
"Oh my god! Yes! We haven't done that since I was like nine!" You grinned, reminiscing about your ninth birthday where your parents both had meetings all day so Ted took you out.
He smiled softly before continuing, "I have a new team coming via scholarships, they like to call themselves the Ducks, they won the Junior Goodwill Games last season."
"I'll be through with whatever I find later, then it's shooting time buddy!" You chuckled, standing up.
"Whatever you say baby sister," he mocked, drawing his attention back to his television as you left the room.
You quickly ran back to your room and flung yourself into your office chair and turned on your computer, after a few minutes your home screen appeared. You hummed a little tune as you opened up the internet.
"I'm sure there will be some newspaper files about them," you spoke to yourself, finding the local Minneapolis news paper. Despite the world wide web being a new phenomenon the archives were easy to access.
You slowly grew more intrigued as stories of this so-called 'wonder team' popped up, you filtered the site to only show clippings that contained the words 'ice hockey', 'ducks' and 'Bombay', their coach and a close friend of your brothers.
More and more clippings came up, this team were incredible, you had noticed that they had 4 'star' players, Captain Charlie Conway, Adam Banks and the Bash Brother, Fulton Reed and Dean Portman. They had even beaten Iceland's team, which was coached by the Wolf, a well-respected genius in the hockey world.
⢠⢠â˘
Bombay felt much more at ease knowing his beloved team would be passed onto the great Ted Orion, and after learning of your work in the hockey industry, he was thrilled that the ducks could gain even more attraction.
However, the Ducks were not too fond of their new coach, he had stripped Charlie of his captaincy and had taken away the team's spirit. They were no longer the ducks, they were Eden Hall's JV team.
"They hate me it's impossible to work with!" Ted groaned as you were all sat around the dinner table, knees deep in yet another of his rants.
Jen, who always tried to see the best in a situation spoke, "who knows, they might just be scared of you?"
"Darling, I don't think so," he smiled almost sadly.
"How about this, I can come with you to practise sit at the side and see if I can get some information off of them, I'll try to see why they haven't taken a liken to you." You suggested, Ted seemed to enjoy this suggestion as he nodded slightly.
"Are you sure they would talk to you?" Your sister-and-law asked, "I mean you are the younger sister of their coach."
"Well I am the same age as most of them, they might feel like they could say something." You answer, hoping you were right.
⢠⢠â˘
"Gather round team," your brother called, before growing impatient, "god gave you legs for a reason, use them!"
They all grumbled while they skated over, stopping in a messy semi-circle around you and him, peculiar looks on their faces.
"You may be wondering who this is-" Orion began before getting cut off by a tall looking boy with brown hair.
"Y'all that's Y/N! That girl who made that team in Chicago mega-famous!" He shouted.
"The team can't be that famous if you don't know the name, Dwayne," another boy quipped back, this one had off-black hair and was shorter than this Dwayne character.
"Yes Dwayne, this is the Y/n and she is my younger sister, she's just here to supervise the game. She finally decided that lying in her bed all day fawning over Michael J Fox in Back to the Future wasn't being productive." He introduced you, his last comment making you shake your head and flush.
They all exchanged looks, before yet another boy, this time you recognised as Charlie Conway, spoke up, "What age is she, shouldn't she be a bit older if she's your sister?"
"I'm sixteen, our mum had him quite young," you clarified. "Okay Ted, I'm going to go sit down." The team's uproar started again after hearing that their new coach's name is Ted. You laughed, something so normal was causing quite the stir.
The practice wasn't anything interesting, just some drills and a mock game to finish. You were brought out of the trance, that you had caught yourself in when the sound of skates dragging to a halt in front of you.
It was girl who had a long plait in going down her back, "Hi, I'm Connie!"
"Y/N, it's lovely to meet you," you smiled.
She smiled back before pondering her next question, "does coach Orion always act grumpy?"
You laughed slightly, "no, don't worry, he does really want to see you all succeed but he just doesn't know how to get around it."
"Well he doesn't act like it, look!" Connie gestured to the rest of the team, who were all shooting at Goldberg as Orion barked out orders. That's when you noticed that one of the players who had played with them since the PeeWees wasn't there.
"Connie, is there not meant to be another boy, he's blonde, wears number ninety-nine?" You inquired, looking back at the girl.
She smiled slightly, "awe yeah, Banks, he plays for Varsity now." She spoke, almost proud of her ex-teammate. "Well, I better get back to practising, we need to speak again Y/N!"
You grinned, "definitely!"
the girl skated away, lapping around some of the other players, then shooting a puck past Goldberg into the net.
When practise finished Ted approached you, "so did you speak to anyone?"
"Only Connie, she's super nice, but she thinks you're dead grumpy." You answered, this made him frown slightly.
"I know this is a lot to ask, but do you think you could find Conway and try to talk to him?" He asked, a glint of pleading in his eyes.
You smiled, "yeah I'll speak to him, just because I love you so very much," you teased lightly, which caused him to gently slap the back of your head.
"You're a cheeky prick," he laughed, helping you up.
"That's what you get for having a sixteen-year-old sister when you're thirty!" You grinned back, walking off the ice with your beloved older brother.
⢠⢠â˘
You spotted the brunette boy in the distance walking out of Eden Hall, quickly, you jogged after him.
"Charlie!" You called out, which made him turn around.
He grimaced when he saw you fast approaching, "what do you want?"
"I just want to talk, you seemed kind of," you hummed. You tried to think of a way to make this sound like you weren't being bitchy, "agitated, earlier."
He huffed slightly, "Obviously, have you seen my coach!"
"Hey! Let's remember that's my brother!" You faked annoyance before laughing.
This made him smile, "Fine we can talk, under one condition."
"Woah there Conway, take me out for dinner then we can see where it goes!" You joked, making him flush under the blinding sun.
He shook his head sheepishly, "no! Not like that, I meant to buy me ice cream!" He scrambled out, "if you buy me ice cream, I'll talk to you about anything you want."
You pondered his requirement, "are you asking me on a date Conway?"
"It's a get-together, not a date! Don't be so silly!" He groaned.
You chuckled at his comment, "come on!" You cheered, beckoning him to follow you towards the seafront. Where an ice cream truck would roll on by tweeting out a chirpy tune at exactly ten past five every evening.
The pair of you reached the boardwalk next to the swirling sea just in time to hear the merry tune which signified it was ice cream time. Charlie immediately sped-walked over to where the truck would park and scowled at you as you slowly traipsed over.
"Okay, number ninety-six what are you for having?" You quipped looking up at the boy.
"Two scoops, chocolate orange and vanilla," he answered back after studying the array of flavours intently.
You only smiled at him before going up to the window, "a two scoop cone of chocolate orange and vanilla," you hummed, "and a rocket ice lolly for me."
"That'll be four dollars and fifty cents, doll," the woman in the truck said, handing Charlie both of the sweet treats while you reached for a five-dollar note then slid it over to her.
"Thank you!" You grinned, taking your ice lolly from Charlie.
"Since we never introduced ourselves directly to each other," you spoke before tasting your lolly. "I'm Y/N Orion, I'm sixteen and I grew up in Tampa."
Charlie gave you an odd look before reluctantly speaking, "I'm Charlie Conway, ex-captain of the Ducks and the USA team and I'm also sixteen. Oh and I'm from Minneapolis."
"Lovely to meet you, Charlie Conway!" You smiled towards him, a smile which he returned apprehensivley.
You grabbed his free hand and pulled him towards a free bench and sat down, indicating him to sit down next to you.
"So, Y/N what brings you to Eden Hall?" He asked.
"Well I don't go to school there but Ted just wondered if I could help him gain some information on the players." You explained, Charlie didn't seem to be fond of this answer.
"So you're only here right now with me for some sort of spy deal?" He accused, anger radiating off of him.
"No! Of course not, he just wanted to know how to get you guys working as a team!" You defended, hoping this answer would calm him down.
He scoffed, "well excuse me, we are a team, the ducks, it's just Orion is not a part of it!"
"Come on Charlie! He just wants whats best for you!" you pleaded.
He huffed again and silently got up and stormed away, you quickly followed him, "Charlie, he doesn't mean anything bad!"
â˘â˘â˘
You trudged back into the Orion household, swiftly going to your room and slamming the door.
"Y/N you good?" Ted shouted over towards your room, there was a lengthy silence that followed which made him enter your room.
"Charlie hates me!"

kuroken au where kenma's new bf turns out be to be a national topic of discussion. people want to know who world famous kodzuken is dating, all they know is that he's dating a man, so maybe a multi-talented handsome actor or another hotshot CEO or a beefy sports player or a glamorous model or another influential figure he met at some extravagant ritzy event.
the tabloids are insane every time they get a clue of what they believe to be the hottest story of the month because they want a power couple reveal. so they get hints like "the silhouette of kodzuken's bf was super tall!!", "kodzuken was spotted at the airport several times, what if his bf is a mega-rich foreigner!!!", "Kodzuken boyfriend muscular????", "kodzuken spotted at volleyball game AGAIN, what player is his beau????"
at some point they find out it's kuroo, kodzuken's childhood best friend and hardworking jv employee, which the paparazzi finds utterly disappointing and such an unoriginal logical conclusion to what kodzuken's bf would be and move on to the next thing: bokuto's tax fraud allegations
kenma doesn't even give a statement since he doesn't care and kuroo only finds out about it when he reads a headline on the internet that reads "kodzuken's boyfriend finally revealed and he's super boring" which he's offended by
and when he asks kenma about it, he's like "am I boring??" and kenma's like "yeah" and kuroo's disappointment grows, but it instantly goes away when kenma pulls him down to cuddle for the rest of the day, because kuroo may be boring, but kenma loves him for it

emilyâs endless list of ocs ⨠Ⳡana martinez, eat your young đŤ âł ( inâ˘sp )
Ana Martinez does not survive in the end.Â
She does not live to see her mother again, to play another game of soccer, or win another debate competition. She does not grow old, she doesnât get married, she doesnât see her older brother find peace. All she does is wither and rot, as all things do.Â
But Ana Martinez is not all dead, not fully. She lives on in the memories of the survivors, of those that got to see the plane that saved them. She haunts them, they see her in their periphery, in the gentle laugh of a girl, the breeze in autumn, the biting chill of a winterâs night. Because Ana Martinez is dead, but she is the reason they all survived.
Seventeen, almost eighteen, Ana was almost out of New Jersey, and she was going to go out with a Bang! Sheâd been the teamâs Left-Winger since sheâd graduated from JV when she was freshly fifteen, and despite being the Coachâs daughter, nobody could deny her being one of the strongest players on the team. She was a shoo-in for a full-ride scholarship to the University of North Carolina, she was going to be a star player and get a business degree while doing it. But first they had to win at Nationals.
Ana liked to believe that what happened next was the consequence of three things.
1. Taissa Turner breaking Allyâs leg, tearing it apart, right down to the bone.
Ana knew it was a bad idea, sheâd argued against it, when Tai had proposed the idea to the small group of players. Sheâd stood strong beside her fellow Winger, Natalie Scatorccio, pleaded for them to see sense. But Tai was headstrong, and she wanted to win, and that wasnât going to happen if Ally was on the field with them.
Ana figured she didnât fight enough.
2. The Yellowjackets being prideful, arrogant, and sometimes, downright mean.
It wasnât their fault, any of them. Ana and the rest of the team, they were just kids - teenage girls, most of which hadnât even hit eighteen yet. Teenage girls are mean, they tear at your throat with words of poison, and teeth filed to sharp points â they pick you apart piece by piece, they consume your very being until they spit you back up, a perfect mold of themselves.
Each of the Yellowjackets had a vice, something that made them imperfect, something that made them wrong.Â
Ana wasnât sure if it was the fact that she liked girls or the fact that she liked to throw eggs at the houses of kids who pissed her off that made her wrong.Â
She just knew that she was.
3. Ana Martinez telling her father she hated him.
Sure, Mr. Martinez wasnât perfect, he wasnât a particularly good father, he was harsh and stern and cared all too much about soccer than he did about his children, but he was still her father. He worked harder than anyone sheâd ever known, he made sure that she had whatever she needed, and when she was hurt â emotionally, physically, whatever it may be â he made sure to pat her on the head and slip a plate of sopapillas under her bedroom door.
And the truth was that Ana loved her father, more than anything else in the world â even if he hadnât told her he loved her in two years, even if he frowned more than he smiled. But he had upset her, in the way that only he could. Instead of congratulating her for their big win, for saying how excited he was for them to go to nationals, for telling her he was proud of her, he had critiqued her.Â
Ana had never been good at receiving critique from her father, but this time, when sheâd been coming down from such a high, she simply couldnât handle it, which is why sheâd yelled.
So, this was why Ana believed theyâd crashed, why they had to do what they had to do, endure what they endured. Ana believed that the reason she died was because no matter how hard she worked to help everyone, to make sure the team stayed together and stayed alive, it didnât matter, because at her core, Ana Martinez was a girl, and she was twisted, wrong.Â
This is why she didnât make it.

[ seo jisoo, female, she/her ] â whoa! QUINN PARK just stole my cab! not cool, but maybe they needed it more. they have lived in the city for THREE MONTHS, working as a/an BARTENDER AT PUZZLES. that canât be easy, especially at only 30 YEARS OLD. some people say they can be a little bit STUBBORN and HARDHEADED , but I know them to be FRIENDLY and OUTGOING. whatever. I guess Iâll catch the next cab. hope they like the ride back to QUEENS!
born to park shownu and park naeun as park hyewon in seoul south korea, with a family of eight and the oldest of five siblings, she was raised to a very close-nit family. when their father landed a job in the states, they had moved to california when it was just her and her younger sister at the time, a sweet family of four. hyewon was just five years old when her family had moved out to california. living in the states and before hyewon started kindergarten, her father decided to give his kids english names therefore going from hwang hyewon to quinn hwang. he had also hired an english tutor to help his kids learn and understand english more. it was then where quinn had became fluent in english, but still stayed close to her korean roots.Â
before she knew it, their small family of four grew from four to five then six, then seven and recently to eight. quinn is now an older sibling to four younger sisters. one that was a year younger than her, another about seven years, followed by her next sister of eight years and last but not least her youngest sister of twenty-four years. although their newest sister was definitely a surprise seeing as her parents were surprised she was able to get pregnant after their last daughter. quinn doesnât mind, she loves her sisters dearly and will continue to love and care for them.Â
growing up the hwang family had adjusted to their new american lifetyle but her sisters having been born in america while quinn and her second sister were born in south korea. which took them a bit to understand and learn english. aside from the tutor, quinn had also started taking english classes to help her understand more. it didnât take her younger sisters long to learn english, so it was nice for them to grow up in america.Â
living in california, it didnât take her long to make friends. it was also a coincidence that she had found some korean friends of her own that lived not to far from where she was. although she had met them at a young age which made it easy for her to grow up with them and form a close bond with them. they were inseparable and stayed together throughout elementary, middle and high school. it wasnât until quinn had gotten accepted to nyu where they had to part ways, but still made their friendship work and did their best to keep in touch.Â
QUINN THROUGHOUT HIGH SCHOOL ( THE RUN DOWN )
freshmen year -Â
she and her same age best friend had tried out for the volleyball team together. of course they made it and were apart of c-squad throughout the entire year.Â
took a liking to art which she had taken an art class causing her to enjoy it, in which caused her to practiced her drawing skills that have improved throughout the years.Â
straight a student since elementary school landing her to be a candidate for national honor society. you wouldnât call her a nerd, she just knew the balance between school, volleyball and friends.Â
participated in being a few of her teachers student assistants towards the end of her freshmen year.Â
sophomore year -Â
worked so hard in volleyball in hopes she would at least make it to jr varsity. sadly she and her best friend were stuck in c squad. she didnât mind, that only meant she had to work harder to prove she was good enough to be apart of jv.Â
continued taking art classes, but soon took up in interest in singing and playing instruments. causing her to take band and choir seeing as she wanted to improve her singing and learn how to play the guitar and piano and maybe a few instruments along the way. still very close with her seven best friends while they support her in everything she does.Â
maintains her 4.0 gpa and continues to strive to work harder and to graduate with honors. doesnât want to disappoint her family, most of all her younger sisters.Â
junior year -Â
after all her hard work, she figured she would move up to jv for volleyball. with the captains of the volleyball team seeing how hard she had worked, she went from c-squad to varsity right away along side her best friend. at first she was shocked because she herself didnât believe she deserved to be on varsity but continued her hard work in which she proved and showed herself that she does deserve that spot.Â
while working hard in basically everything during her junior year, she may have taken on more than she could chew. the stress was weighing on her, but she was doing her best not to give up and to keep pushing towards success.Â
not only was school and volleyball weighing on her, she felt it was time for her to get a job. youâd think sheâd slow down, but quinn is someone that wants always keep herself busy and to be on the go. this is where quinn had landed her first job working at the movie theater. she had worked in the back stocking things that needed to be stocked, along with being apart of cleaning crew.Â
this year was where quinn found herself always busy but still doing her best to make time for her friends and volleyball. not to mention school. she couldnât slack off, not now seeing as senior year was right around the corner.Â
senior year -Â
the year that meant so much to her and her best friend. of course her six other best friends were a few grades behind them so they didnât have to worry about graduating just yet. quinn needed to graduate, although she knows she wonât be the valedictorian which she doesnât mind. that was one thing quinn wasnât a fan of, making speeches. the whole thing just brought her nerves out and if she had to make a big speech to her graduating class, she is pretty sure sheâd faint in front of everyone.Â
working harder than ever, she went from working at the movie theater full time to part time. only because she wanted to focus on graduating and to make sure she passed all her exams and finals that were coming up.Â
volleyball was still going really well for her and had earned herself a letterman jacket during her junior year which she now wears proudly.Â
finally, she graduated, graduated beside one of her best friends and thankful that their high school career was over. the hardest part about it? saying goodbye once august rolled around for college.Â
đ°đ´đ¨đđ đłđ§đąđŽđ´đŚđ§đŽđ´đł đ˘đŽđŤđŤđ¤đŚđ¤ ( the rundown )
a new life for quinn was just beginning. a fresh of breath air and a new setting for her. something she had to get used to. she couldnât slack off and wanted to make sure she could carry her high gpa that she did in high school to college.Â
being in new york was new for her. she was now living in a dorm at nyu and met her roommate whom she gets along really well with. at first quinn wasnât sure what she wanted to major in so she had just taken a few general classes needed to at least graduate under general studies for now.Â
she thought about majoring in art, but just decided to take that as a minor and not a major. it took quinn majority of her first semester at nyu to figure out what she wanted to do. instead she took up a few business classes since she wanted to explore something new.Â

#4 Cal Finishes Third at Championships
V8+, 3V8+ Place Third In Grand Finals
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. â After putting itself in a position to come away with a third straight national title, the No. 4 California men's rowing team finished in third place at the National Championships at Mercer Lake Sunday afternoon for its 40th top-three overall finish in program history. Both the V8+ and 3V8+ placed third in their respective grand finals. This marked the 13th and fourth all-time bronze medals for the V8+ and 3V8+ respectively. The Golden Bears totaled 260 points to finish third in the James Ten Eyck Trophy standings after entering the last race of the day in the fourth spot.  "These were not the results we were hoping for but I'm really proud of what the team has been able to do over the course of the season and the speed that we were able to show in the lead up to this," Cal head coach Scott Frandsen said. "I'm proud of the effort that the guys put up there today. I thought the 3V raced really well and I think the JV had a better race in them and the varsity was close. Today was a good statement of the competitiveness of men's rowing in that you need to be on your game and have your best race to be able to achieve those goals. Those goals are always consistently very high for our program. That's always the challenge and a challenge we want - to set our sights on winning every year."  In Cal's first race of the day for the 3V8+ title, Cal and Washington got out in front of the pack early with the Huskies taking a slight lead after 20 strokes. Through 500 meters, Cal sat in second position even with Princeton and a half boat behind Washington. At the midway point the Bears and Tigers were in a battle for second position and sat a boat-length behind the Huskies. Cal and Princeton both exchanged surges in the last 500 meters with neither being able to take a decisive lead and it was the Tigers who edged out the Bears by less than a tenth of a second in the last few strokes for second place with the Bears coming in third in a time of 5:41.560.  In the race for the 2V8+ title, Cal, Harvard and Washington formed the early lead pack. The Bears and Huskies edged out in front of the pack 250 meters in, but Washington continued to push and took a boat-length lead over Cal by the 500-meter mark with Princeton just a few seats behind in third. The Tigers surged and overtook the Bears by a few seats at the midway point. Over the third 500 meters Dartmouth made a move and pulled even with Cal for third position. In the closing 500 meters, Cal was battling with Dartmouth for third place but ultimately the Big Green edged out the Bears for the bronze medal.
In the final race of the day for the V8+ title and IRA championship, Cal and Washington got out ahead of the pack early in the race, but Harvard crept up to take second position ahead of Cal at the 500-meter mark by four seats. By the midway point, Cal was in a battle for third with Yale who pulled nearly even. The Bears were able to make a move and take command of the third position over the second half of the race to take bronze in a time of 5:41.560.  Sunday Results  V8+ 1. Washington - 05:27.233 2. List 5 facts about a favorite sim of yours, and send this to simblrs whose sims you adore â¨ď¸
Alright y'all it's Remi's character development timeee!!! I'm gonna do both the OC questionnaire and the 5 facts for him. Thanks so much 4 including me in all these tag games @midnightsquartz! And everyone else who does even if I forget to do them đ
I love y'all!!
OC Questionnaire
Name: Remi Fernandez
Nickname: Very rarely he'll get called "Rem," but he doesn't really have a nickname. Maple will occasionally jokingly call him Ramirez as his "full government name." Vlad has some more uhhh... unsavory nicknames for him đłđł
Gender: Male
Star sign: Gemini
Height: 6.3 ft (192cm)
Orientation: Bisexual (though he will die on the hill of being straight, 'twas just a phase dude!!)
Nationality/Ethnicity: American, White/Hispanic
Favorite Fruit: Mangoes :P
Favorite Season: Winter
Favorite Flower: Blood red chrysanthemums, so emo :,(
Favorite Scent: Diesel fuel (he freaky like that)
Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate: He's a black coffee connoisseur (he FREEAKY like that)
Average Hours of Sleep: About 6 if he's lucky, he works 24/7 and spends as much of his free time on his computer as Maple will tolerate.
Dogs or Cats: Used to be dogs but Maple converted him lmao
Dream Trip: Anywhere in the south, probably Florida. If it weren't so far away from family, him and Maple would move there in a heartbeat.
Number of Blankets: Three or four. Top sheet, comforter and a quilt on top, a weighted blanket too if ya nasty.
Random Fact: He played in his high school JV and varsity baseball teams as short stop and catcher occasionally. He and Pepper would meet at JV tryouts in their sophomore year (but Pepper wouldn't end up making the team with him pfff).
Random Facts
He has been working as a mechanic at his family's tire shop from high school till now. In his free time, he is taking classes online for an IT certification, hoping to get some IT office job like Vladdie and be home more for the new baby.
He is a big music and movie nerd. He eats up stereotypical dude movies like Pulp Fiction and The Wolf of Wall Street, probably because he likes to live vicariously through the main characters' debauchery.
He has deep seated commitment issues that stem from his parents' infidelity toward each other that he vehemently refuses to go to any sort of therapy for. Maple tries her best to iron it out with ultimatums (and uhh a baby) but he's still hesitant to marry her.
He hates the fact that he needs glasses, but also refuses to get contacts because they need to be fitted to his astigmatisms and he's too lazy for that.
He has been vaping and smoking for about a decade, trying to quit every January like clockwork. He just recently started getting into ZYNs because "babee there's not even any smoke with these!! perfect for baby!"

Lauren Gambino at The Guardian:
Kamala Harris introduced her running mate, Tim Walz, as âthe kind of vice-president America deservesâ at a raucous rally in Philadelphia that showcased Democratic unity and enthusiasm for the partyâs presidential ticket ahead of the November election. Casting their campaign as a âfight for the futureâ, Harris and Walz were repeatedly interrupted by applause and cheering as they addressed thousands of battleground-state voters wearing bracelets that twinkled red, white and blue at Temple Universityâs Liacouras Center â a crowd Harrisâs team said was its largest to date. âThank you for bringing back the joy,â a beaming Walz told Harris after she debuted the little-known Minnesota governor as a former social studies teacher, high school football coach and a national guard veteran. âWeâve got 91 days,â he declared. âMy God, thatâs easy. Weâll sleep when weâre dead.â
Harris, who has served as vice-president to Joe Biden for three and a half years, said Walz would be âready on day oneâ. She called the race between them and the Republican presidential ticket of Donald Trump and JD Vance to a âmatchup between the varsity team and the JV squadâ. Harris announced the 60-year-old governor as her running mate on Tuesday morning, hours after she formally secured the Democratic nomination, becoming the first woman of color to lead a major party ticket. With the governorâs selection, Democrats capped one of the wildest periods in American political life that led Biden to abandon his re-election bid and endorse his vice-president last month.
Arriving on stage to BeyoncĂŠâs Freedom, the newly minted Democratic ticket rode a weeks-long wave of momentum from an unusually exuberant party happy to be looking forward. âHeâs the kind of person who makes people feel like they belong and then inspires them to dream big,â Harris said. âThatâs the kind of vice-president he will be. And thatâs the kind of president America deserves.â Walz shared more of his biography, casting himself as a politician who learned to âcompromise without compromising my valuesâ and a midwesterner who lives by the âgolden ruleâ when it comes to personal choice: âMind your own damn business.â Drawing a personal connection to one of the most searing issues of the election cycle, Walz said he and his wife had two children through in vitro fertilization (IVF) after years of struggling with infertility. âWhen we welcomed our daughter into the world, we named her Hope,â he said.
Last night in Philly, 2024 Democratic nominee Kamala Harris introduced her running mate pick: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
It was a packed house to see the pair.
In a few months from now, the Harris/Walz ticket will handily dispatch the fascist weirdo Trump/Vance ticket. #HarrisWalz2024
