If The Nocturne is one of four Vampirate ships, then I wonder what and how the other three were named? Are the other three named after types of music associated with invoking the night, like The Clair de Lune, The Moonlight Sonata, and The Traumerei ("dream" in German)? Or are the other 3 named after the concepts broadly associated with humanities? How *did* they get their names?

Will we ever learn more about the other three ships, and their captains and crew?

I really hope Justin Somper will start writing a sequel series after he's done writing his Pirate Academy books. My inner child craves it.

i don't know if i have THE genre, but i have a soft spot for historical romance. and middle grade speculative fiction.

haha imagine. okay girls before earls by anna bennett. is this a literary masterpiece? no. but is this a super fun historical romcom about a workaholic director of a girls' school and the sexy lord who tries to enroll his troublesome niece in her school? yes. treat yourself.

the trials of morrigan crow by jessica townsend: middle grade spec fic. SO fun and charming and funny. one of my favorite contemporary kids' book series that are still being published

professional crocodile by giovanna zoboldi: picture book, no text. perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. it's about a crocodile who has a job and it is so funny.

vampirates by justin somper: middle grade/early teen. one of my favorite book series from middle school about vampires who are also pirates. the definition of formative.

artemis fowl by eoin colfer: middle grade/early teen. another childhood favorite.

cat royal adventures by julia golding: middle grade/early teen. i was obsessed with these books and no one has ever read them. theeee precocious theater kid historical fiction.

19. most disliked popular books?

anything by sarah j maas. i tried reading all of her work and i couldn't get through it. i think it is her god given right to be a terrible writer. more power to her. kind of inspirational tbh. but it does deeply annoy me that 1) so many people act like her work is incredible and literary instead of just enjoying garbage like the rest of us, and 2) the fact that the popularity of her work has made explicit sex in YA more common and accepted. i don't want to sound like a prude but that is not what YA lit is for. i don't think it has to be on the page. it's a reader expectation thing.
