Over 11 million pounds has been spent on a white girl who went missing 13 years ago on holiday, whilst no effort and no time was spent on a black Muslim refugee drowned by her own classmates And you want to tell me privilege doesn’t exist?

If you are a supporter of BLM, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. ANOTHER BLACK YOUTH WILL NOT BE SILENCED.
Amidst this movement, I want to bring some light on Shukri Abdi. Shukri Abdi was a 12 year old Somali girl (who was Muslim) who lived in the U.K. for a mere year before her death. She was preparing to go to school there. On a field trip, a fisherman said that he saw the girl being dragged by her hijaab into River Irwell in Greater Manchester by four other students. Shukri cannot swim, so this was very out of character for her, as she never went near large bodies of water. “Shukri Abdi was last seen in the river - parts of which are 20ft (6m) deep - off Dunster Road, Bury at 19:55 BST on Thursday.” That was quoted from Shukri’s petition page, where I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO SIGN UP. It has a lot of necessary information and is being updated regularly. PLEASE REBLOG THIS WHEREVER AND WHENEVER. SHUKRI WILL NOT GO UNHEARD AND HER PERPETRATORS MUST BE PUNISHED. This hits very close to home for me as I am half Somali, (from my mothers side) and it HURTS to see black people, specifically black Muslim immigrants being so heavily discriminated against. Shukri Abdi shall not die in vain.

This is Shukri Abdi. She was a 12 year old Somali refugee. Her bullies left her to drown in a river in the UK. The police ruled her death a “tragic accident.” As a Muslim growing up in Arkansas, I know what it’s like to be bullied for wearing a headscarf, but I never imagined being killed by my bullies. Please sign the petition at change.org for Manchester police to reopen Shukri’s case. #justiceforshukriabdi #inalilahiwainailaihirojiun #togodwebelongandtohimweshallreturn #blm #shukriabdi #procreate #portrait #blm #blacklivesmatter https://www.instagram.com/p/CBONWApDAdU/?igshid=1jlduedpqly8v

Shukri Abdi's drowning is deemed an "accidental death" at Rochdale Coronors Court. The Coroner found that Child One, who was with Shukri in the water when she died, had no intention to harm her. Shukri was 13-year-old refugee girl from #Somalia who drowned in River Irwell in #Bury last year. She was constantly bullied at her school & it's alleged that she was led to the river. She couldn't swim. This case is also extremely similar to Shukri Abdi’s case. She was found dead like A YEAR or two ago. We need to speak up
‘He was my everything’: Boy who drowned in Brookings pond remembered for smile, generosity
The body of Molu Zarpeleh, 10, who was reported missing last Thursday night, was recovered from a privately-owned retention pond along 12th Street South around 8:40 a.m. Friday after authorities searched the pond, according to a new release from the City of Brookings.
A tip that Zarpeleh had been pushed into the pond that circulated on social media has been redacted by the tipster, said Chelsea Bakken, public information officer for the City of Brookings. Investigators also reported that tips they received Friday related to circumstances surrounding the incident were not true but won’t state why. Police are ignoring it and ruling it an “accidental drowning but his mother says differently.
“A 10-year-old boy would not just take his sandals off and walk into the water,” she said. “He didn’t know how to swim.”
Brookings police and the Brookings Fire Department searched for Zarpeleh until about 2:30 a.m. Friday before the search was stopped due to safety concerns, poor lighting and murky water, the release states. Searchers used pumps from Brookings Municipal Utilities and Brookings County to remove about 300,000 gallons of water from the pond during the resumed search Friday morning
“Molu died, but I can’t say ‘was’ yet,” Mole said. “He’s my first child. He’s my only son. I don’t want to use the word ‘was.’ I can’t imagine him not living.”

It’s August 1st, 2020. It’s Emancipation Day, meaning that the abolishing of slavery throughout the British Empire came into effect 186 years ago. But honestly? Where are we nearly 200 years later? Black bodies and Black minds are being murdered at an alarming rate. We are all quick to say it’s not “as bad” in Canada as it is in the US, but that’s not true. Anti-Black racism is a problem all over the world. We are just much better at playing the Great And Powerful Oz, while committing atrocities that receive less airplay. In the US, the FBI has opened an investigation about the police killing of Breonna Taylor. Oprah Winfrey has given up the cover of her magazine for the first time in history to Ms. Taylor. Ms. Taylor’s killer have still not been brought to justice. Black Lives Matter protests are still happening, even though things are settling back into the way that white discomfort always settles - we are tired, we have short attention spans, and we go back to taking pictures of our lunch. A month ago, I was trying to borrow books by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Robyn Maynard, Desmond Cole, James Baldwin, Austin Channing Brown, Toni Morrison, Layla F. Saad, and others, waiting weeks for them to become available. Today, they are readily and easily available. Please do not let the momentum that has been gathered by and for BIPOC over the last months run out of steam. Please remember that when we stop looking and fighting and talking, things don’t stop happening. Do not go back to quiet ambivalence. Bring justice and real social change. Don’t stop filling your feeds and minds with BIPOC. Until things really change, until we defund and demilitarize the police, until we bridge the pay gap, until we stop seeing black bodies choked to death we are not done. Please keep learning. Please keep talking. Please keep agitating for real social change. Please. #breonnataylor #justiceforgeorgefloyd #justiceforbreonnataylor #justiceforahmaud #justiceforahmaudarbery #justiceforelijahmcclain #justiceforshukriabdi #justiceforregis #blm #blacklivesmatter #blmto #canada #usa #omagazine #oprah #oprahwinfrey #tanehisicoates #tonimorrison #equAlity #kalidesautelsreads (at Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDX-4MXFCQL/?igshid=k047n1f6vtht

This child and her family deserve justice. Please send positive thoughts and energies their way you guys!
SHUKRI ABDI WAS 12 YEARS OLD. She was born and raised in a refugee camp. I can't imagine how her mother must have felt when she landed in the UK, when she sent her child to school, there must have been hope in her heart. Her babies would grow up safe, away from the conflict. And then to have to it all taken away.
That little girl was murdered. She was murdered by her classmate. Child one told her if she doesn't get in the water that they would kill her. They intentionally left her in the water, despite the fact she couldn't swim. They laughed as she drowned. They laughed as other children tried to save Shukri. They laughed when the other kids realised she was dead and called for help. They laughed until police arrived. The police are wrong, it was not an accident. What happened to Shukri, a little Somalian girl who deserved to grow up and live a happy life, was murder.
I'm tired of white children being coddled and told it's okay, they'll learn. This wasn't an accident, they were hurling horrific racist abuse at her for months.
Her dearest mother and siblings deserve justice. Shukri Abdi was murdered. Manchester needs to be in the streets screaming about this.
