Attending Hogwarts gave Ominis the space he needed away from his family, and the Sallow household doubled as his home away from home. Him losing the security Anne and Sebastian gave him AND being shunned by MC after everything has definitely left him feeling some type of way. The events of his fifth-year shaped him and drove him to want to expunge dark magic as a whole (hence the Auror position), but since I imagine he had no choice but to go back to living with his family for a few years after everything, the lines miiiight be a little blurred. Sebastian has made it so that Ominis sees things in a more black and white scale, so now it's less about "policing dark magic" and more about "stopping dark magic at any cost".

The poor guy is definitely going through it... pouring one out for Ominis rn ;;

I don't think DC even realises themselves how much they snapped when they created the Birds of Prey team and concept. The name alone? Spectacular 🤌

Like I literally can't think of anything even remotely similar in execution, longevity, cultural impact etc etc.

Marvel's tried it with one offs in x men evolution and comics but nothing really comes of it.

It's disappointing to see DC not realise/understand the appeal of the team - and yeah badass girl power is part of it but the other half is how the core 4 become friends and family and that's got to be the heart of any BoP book.

I'm not saying never change the roster, like you don't want it to get stale. But you also don't want it to be unrecognisable. I think there's no real difference between the current BoP run and something like Outsiders.

the moment at the end of school reunion where mickey is like "can i come? :)" and rose is visibly Sulky Teenager as tho mickey is some sort of obligation and not HER BOYFRIEND who she has REPEATEDLY COMMITTED TO is so fucking funny to me. like she wants to be in a relationship with mickey, her boyfriend, who is back on earth and not at all with her, but the minute he expresses a desire to be like her and see the things she's seeing, he's cutting into her time with the doctor, who she definitely has a normal relationship with. not to mention that by this point in time mickey has completely chilled out about the doctor and made peace with his place in rose's life, AND ten is so much less openly combative and derisive towards mickey (still a little mean, but not nearly as much as nine!)

if rose was being honest with herself and with mickey about what she wanted -- if she really had wanted to be with him at any point in time -- this would be such a wonderful moment for her! but she treats the relationship like an Obligation. like she feels as though she has to take care of him. she is visibly most delighted by mickey when she knows she's going to get to leave him -- she likes having him on standby and obviously cares about him but doesn't at all want to actually consistently spend time with him. and he KNOWS THAT. phenomenally messy, & in retrospect, amy and rory feel like such a fascinating sequel to this.

The double standards for Anne and Mary compared to Jane and Mary always baffles me. So when Anne prioritizes her own child and safety she's a bitch, but when Jane does the exact same thing (when her child doesn't even exist yet) it's not only ok, it's ignored. Because thinking about it breaks the saccharine love show people are weirdly invested in. Anne fighting for Elizabeth's rights is treated like it doesn't matter, or played down completely to pretend she only wanted Mary recognizing her marriage because she's......evil? Idk. And she got a kick out of it? But Mary needing to do it for Jane is....ok? Right? Fair? It makes no sense when Mary fights against recognizing Anne she's so brave and her stans are outraged she ever be expected to "lower herself" but when she gives in later it's no big deal Henry and Jane demanding it? And whatever Mary went through during Anne's time was the sickest cruelty and all what Anne planned, but with Jane, it never happened, or it's suddenly all Henry and Jane.....was too nice to stand up to him? It's like Mary accepting she's illegitimate is horrific when it's for Anne but some boring i-am-not-a-robot check box task she's we've gotta get out the way when it's for Jane. Like if Mary had gone on resisting do they think Jane would've been cool with it?

Well, we don't really know if "Jane demanded it", actually given the contemporary evidence that seems unlikely (although tbf it's murky...in May 1536 Chapuys claims she's actually argued for Mary's total restoration, but in June 1536 there's another report from another source that she 'begged [the King] on her knees five times' to not arrest Mary--not 'restore her'-- which is often conflated with the former to do the same, by July 1536 Chapuys claims all she’s done is beg Henry not to arrest Mary, not restore her). Tl; dr if her opinion on this was drastically different from HVIII's at the outset, she seems to have conformed to his rather quickly, was more the point I was trying to make there.

But yeah, anyways, I don’t think Jane would’ve been warm towards her had Mary refused to acknowledge her as Queen (which, if we take Mary’s Title Act seriously, was what she actually believed … although if you subscribe to Loades’ theories, it wasn’t what she believed then, but what she came to believe, and her conformity of the summer of 1536 was genuine ‘conversion’), called her ‘Lady Jane’ and the ‘King’s mistress’ as she had AB. Nothing is impossible but I don’t find that… probable.

when i'm able to piece my brain together, i'm going to go ham trying to figure out where manny would sit in the hellblazer universe because there is no way in hell, with a theistic system that all-encompassing, that he is just a regular-ass judeo-christian angel. could still be a facet of god's guilty conscience, still be a prideful, warped rendition of divine justice, but also...also maybe some frankenstein's-monster-amalgamation of occult construction, grasping at straws to preserve or re-create his steadily-dwindling divinity.

and in hellblazer he's definitely not pretending to be constantine's guardian angel, that's for damn sure. the man has seen angels rend both demons and their own kind into atoms, twice, if manny showed up acting like his personal minder he'd get laughed out of the room. maybe a pesky task-giver, though, the way constantine was to swamp thing in his first few appearances. pushing him towards some "ultimate destiny" one crisis at a time because he knows constantine can't bring himself to look away from a problem that needs solving.

idk, all i know for certain is the guy's a freak in any universe and i respect him for that.

leia organa truly has one of the best bait-and-switch character introductions of all time because when you meet her she's this brave, stoic picture of elegance and justice and always knows just what to say to vader and tarkin and is clad in white like an angel and is this perfect two-dimensional archetype of pureness of heart. and then approximately half an hour later into the film she meets luke and han and she IMMEDIATELY shows her true colors as a sarcastic, bitchy control freak with a massive impulsive streak and a deep mine of hyperspecific insults. 10/10 character design i'm obsessed with her
