I see a complaint about finding a game to play Lucy in I also see Lucy is an archaeologist Where do I sign up for the Lucy Infodump
Right here chief! Might get a little wordy but I'll try to keep things concise!
Lawrence "Lucy" De Luca is the son and scion of a very powerful and prominent noble family at in the largest and most central major city of the setting. Born to a Human Noble father and a Tiefling Wizard mother and raised in his mothers footsteps to study and practice magic from a very young age, and is also the first Ethereal Sorcerer, born with the innate magical influence of the Ethereal Plane, a key plot point to the larger story and his story as it unfolds, however this power is not natural, and there's a reason he's the first, he was a test tube experiment born of his mothers experimentation into the unknown influences of the largely unexplored transitory plane.
As a result of both the nature of his existence, the fact that this power grants him constant recurring prophetic nightmares, and his distaste for the nobility he was born to and the nobles he grew up surrounded by, he does not have a good relationship with his parents, and actively makes every effort to avoid being known as a noble or their child, hence the cover name Lucy.
He is however an undeniable prodigy in the arcane arts, having been raised exclusively on the pursuit of magical knowledge and talent, and uses his prophetic nightmares to specialize in the school of Divination, and through Divination, history, specifically ancient history.
Lucy is highly competitive and ambitious, and is considered a strategic genius by his peers and he prides himself on setting himself apart from other mages through cunning and resourcefulness, using spells and items both magical and mundane with creativity to outwit or otherwise defeat others beyond his own skill.
He also has a mean streak in fights and enjoys controlling and oppressing his enemies, preventing them from fighting back with control and debuffing spells, allowing his allies to pick them off with ease.
Many of his peers also consider him daring or outright reckless in both the lengths he will go to and the risks he will take in both the name of discovery and his approach to combat, a belief only confirmed by the loss of his left arm, severed by an evil Paladin after he encompassed her Sorcerer associate in a Wall of Force and then reduced it, crushing him and his Balgura pet.
He is incredibly emotionally repressed and his guilty pleasures are romance novels and poetry, he is a terrible liar as he doesn't fully control his tail and it gives him away every time, and he quickly develops crushes on tall, strong women even taller than he is, which happens more than I expected consdering he is 6'5.

What... does “dungeonpunk” mean anyways? I have never heard that word before.
(With reference to this post here.)
“Dungeonpunk” is a term that was coined in the late 1990s – originally somewhat pejoratively – to refer to the melding of grimdark 90s comic book aesthetic with traditional fantasy roleplaying tropes. Like… imagine Dungeons & Dragons with art direction by Todd McFarlane. The visuals are both murky and overly detailed at the exact same time, nothing ever seems to happens in the daytime, and also there are spikes. The weapons have spikes. The armour has spikes. The monsters have spikes. In extreme cases even the spikes have spikes. Everybody’s outfits are super-elaborate and look like they haven’t been washed in about a year, and – at least for the bad guys – will often have a vaguely bondagey vibe. At some point you will fight a robot. I’m sure you’ve seen it before, even if you didn’t have a name for it!
(Note: there’s a TVTropes article insisting that dungeonpunk is simply cyberpunk with a D&D skin, but that’s just TVTropes being TVTropes.)

🔥 tabletop
dnd is only the ‘easiest starting system’ to get into based on the availability of resources and the mainstream attention, but mechanically is in no way simpler than a lot of other equally good or even better tabletop games out there. treating it as ‘tabletop classic’ and ‘the easy one’ just means a lot of people get stuck clinging to it instead of being encouraged to go out and explore the whole world of fun systems that exist out there.

How long did it take you to learn Shadowrun? I’m finishing up on character generation (heavily inspired by Haruka and Ken lmao) very few of my friends want to join after hearing the little I’ve talked about mechanically :(
i, and the rest of my group, learned by just stumbling through it, lol...and a lot of googling and consulting reddit and other forums whenever we have specific questions (which is often). we are by no means masters of the rules and have fudged and simplified a heck of a lot, and we still constantly get stuff wrong and forget stuff because it’s so convoluted...you really just have to make the game work for you and your playstyle - that’s what we did! you might want to give Shadowrun Anarchy a look, too, if you want something more simplified. we play regular 5e because that’s what we started with, but i’ve heard anarchy is a lot simpler!

I ended up in a DnD discord, which has a few text channels for RP. I’ve been trying to dip my toes in the water since I really enjoy RP over voice and in person but it’s been... awkward. Do you have any guides you know of/refer people to?
I’ve never RP’d over voice or in person. I only do text RPs. ;;
