The problem with a lot of traffic life interpretations in my opinion is they don't understand character foils or don't employ them in their writing. Grian-Martyn and Scar-Ren are genuinely pretty good character foils for a series that is not really scripted or planned out like a book is. I could go on and on about how they parallel each other and the similarities between them. Even the smaller details between the four usually match up

#jamies bad posts #like a simple example grian is an “unwilling” (though we all know thats bs) bodyguard/protector of scar #while martyn is a willing protector of ren #but i was just watching rendogs first episode and he says that his plan is to first go around attempting to trade with everyone #and it just. it STRIKES me how similar scar and ren are #they both have tempers when called for they both go around playing a friend to all and trying to trade #fuck it in the first few minutes of rens episode hes chasing rabbits around the desert #like ren and scar are two sides of the same coin in the context of third life #thats what makes the dogwarts/monopoly mountain arc so INTERESTING #because they both have goals good and bad and when you watch the others povs each side looks so... intimidating. so different #its only when you get really up close you realize theyre the same type of person #like martyn and grian idk just watching them interact is fun. its really fun #the way martyn gave grian a diamond sword in third life to protect him versus grian doing that w etho secret life #i can mostly think of just the little details but like. come ON #GO WATCH THEIR VIDEOS. This was easily one of the best Lupin episodes

#there will be a rant in the tags that you can ignore #but it is so upsetting how modern/current lupin took away the depths of these characters and flimsily tries to restore their earlier depth #i'm one of those people who craves depth in what i watch and it's so difficult to like this franchise because it will be so close to doing #something interesting only to abandon it #this episode and part one as a whole was peak lupin in my opinion with each character having emotional depth yet flaws to overcome #yet modern lupin would have you believe that these characters don't desire to improve in any capacity #if we were to just focus on Goemon for example right here he shows depth with revealing hidden emotional maturity and empathy for Lupin by #comforting him and admitting he himself is afraid (which is a big deal for a character like him who is supposed to be unflinching)#but in modern lupin goemon will literally say that he's not afraid of anything and this is written without any hint of irony or depth #i'm okay with mindless entertainment and i understand that this is a series simply about stealing but the character assassination is so #disappointing #and when this series does try to be “deep” they pick the most triggering subject matter possible to depict to the point where it's #practically unwatchable (this is in reference to Part 4 and its constant SA plots as well as the rampant gratuitous child abuse plots #throughout the entire series)#i want so badly to love lupin the 3rd but it's a huge problem when fanfiction understands the characters better than the source material #lupin iii #lupin the third #lupin the 3rd #goemon ishikawa xiii #goemon #arsene lupin iii #jigen daisuke #daisuke jigen #fujiko mine #part 1

i went to one piece orchestra tonight !!

seeing/hearing kohei tanaka and hiroshi kitadani... was amazing... ESPECIALLY having the honor to listen to we go, over the top, uuus, and we are all live !! literally we are, over the top, and uuus are my FAV one piece openings so clapping and singing along with hiroshi himself was just so... magical.

it made me really happy that i've become a one piece fan 🥹🫶♥️ im a little sad i had to experience it all by myself and i dont know many who are into one piece... but still a wonderful occasion regardless.

#my hands and throat hurt from all that #one piece #dain talks #im gonna unwind and watch the new op episode i have missed #really fun event and orchestra + AX is on its third day i think so there was a LOT of cosplayers #one day i'll have the courage to actually cosplay at one piece events/collabs 🥹🫶♥️#but like. oh my god. when we got to We Are #i jusy... cant put it into words how amazing and wonderful that was #hiroshi encouraging us to clap and sing along (did this whenever he was on stage) and it's just... so good #PLUS THE NUMBER OF US PUMPING ARE FIST IN THE AIR FOR EVERY 'WE ARE' AAAAAAHH #maybe it was a good thing we werent allowed to photo/record but it still wouldve been nice to permanently have this moment #ah well... it's all about the moment and experience #what a fantastic orchestra
