since we're voting on fave Christmas songs rn but i didn't grow up religious and thus don't know most of the ones on the lists, here's my favorite (German) Weihnachtslieder that aren't for kids):
(story of a little tin-soldier who (platonically) pines for a santa claus who was made from the same tin)
(melody of Come rest ye merry gentlemen, but it's about wishing light and peace in the dark season)

(I maybe sick but at least I can still do do some Artwork, even though my Allergies are still bothering Me.)
Seeing on how that I've been in such a Tabaluga hyperfixation, I wanted to do a few personal redesigns of Arktos' Daughter which resulted in a Number of Three (inspired by someone else's version). Granted, The First one was my First Redesign when I drew Lilli with her Father (even after doing some personal interpretation of the Tabaluga cast in my own style last year) but I felt like wanting to draw some better optional outfits to suit her if I'm not gonna get used to the first one.
I also wanted to batch in each of the Different Princess Crown design on her Head if Arktos is the one who always wears a Hat (but it's still often questionable if his Eyes are meant to be on his Hat or Not). Now, the First Crown obviously stays the same but the Other Two are completely the same (just in a different shape or form). I mainly took the inspiration behind those designs raging from Wendy Darling (from "Peter Pan"), Princess Irene (from "The Princess and The Goblin"), and even lastly a Ballerina-inspired based dress (considering on how much Lilli was meant to be sculpted as a Ballerina).
Personally, I like the Second One a lot more but the Third One is Good, if I'd had to pick either of the options, I'd probably would use it later as a Final Design to consider.

Rolf Zuckowski: just writes something that rhymes for his nice little childrens birthday song

4, 5, 7 for the country ask!!
Thanks for the ask😁
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
I couldn't decide so have two "dishes" (descriptions copied from Wikipedia):
Currywurst: "a fast food dish of German origin consisting of steamed, and fried pork sausage (German: Bratwurst) typically cut into bite-sized chunks and seasoned with curry ketchup, a sauce based on spiced ketchup or tomato paste topped with curry powder, or a ready-made ketchup seasoned with curry and other spices. The dish is often served with fries."
The Leipziger Lerche: "a pastry of Leipzig. The name originates from the coveted delicacy popular in the Leipzig area until the 1870s. The dish used the actual songbird lark (German: Lerche), which was roasted with herbs and eggs and served as a filling in a pastry crust." Today it's not filled with birds because the hunting of larks got banned, so now it's actually a pastry, consisting of "a shortcrust filled with a mixture of crushed almonds, nuts and a cherry. The cherry symbolises the heart of the bird. It is topped with a grid of two crossed dough strips." (tho I prefer it without the cherry, seeing as it's often a sugared cherry or it got soaked in alcohol or smth *shudders*).
5. favourite song in your native language?
Uff, difficult🤔 idk... I like "Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus" either by Max Raabe or Comedian Harmonists (Max Raabe originally made music sounding just like them/like from the 20s but he started to make his own songs too and I can very highly recommend them). I also like "König von Deutschland" by Rio Reiser, or "Haus am See" by Peter Fox, same for "Millionär" and "Küssen verboten" by Die Prinzen (they have other good songs too, like "Mann im Mond" 🤣the euphemism in that song flew right over my head when I was younger🤣). For childhood memories I'd go to Rolf Zuckowski (my beloved❤️ who I'm sure shaped many people's childhoods, probably same as Peter Maffay).... Like, there are a lot, I couldn't decide in just one favorite... 😅
7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
First a word from one of the lesser liked accents (🙄prejudices that's what this is, as if the Berlin dialect or Bavarian sounds any better😜), Saxon: "Mutschekiepchen" or "Motschekühchen", meaning "Marienkäfer", meaning ladybug🤣
Then of course a long word since this is German "Donaudampfschifffartsgesellschaftskapitänsmützen" (there are longer words but I like this one more), meaning Donau = Danube, Dampfschiff = steamship, Schiffahrt = shipping, Gesellschaft = company, Schiffahrtsgesellschaft = shipping company, Kapitän = captain, Mütze(n) = hat(s) -> Danube steamship shipping company's captains hats/Captain's hats of the Danube steamship shipping company.
And last but not least: "tja" meaning "well" (tho that doesn't really capture the meaning of the world, it's more, according to this site, a vocalised sigh or shrug). Can be used when you accidentally break something, when you're annoyed or to show resignation (especially these two), when the economy crushes or as comment on the apocalypse😉

I'm having a hard time right now, mentally, but social media recently reminded me of Rolf Zuckowski, a German musician who has written SO many songs for kids with amazing messages.
One of his most famous, and one that makes me cry just about every time I hear it lately, is
"Ich schaff das schon" (engl.: I can do it")
It's about a child named Maike and the challenges she faces over the course of her life, and her realization in difficult times, that she is able to overcome those challenges.
youtube
The chorus is this:
"Ich schaff das schon, ich schaff das schon
(I can do it, I can do it)
Ich schaff das ganz alleine
(I can do it all by myself)
Ich komm bestimmt, ich komm bestimmt
(I'll surely get, I'll surely get)
Auch wieder auf die Beine
(Back on my feet)
Ich brauch dazu, ich brauch dazu
(I might need, I might need)
Vielleicht 'ne Menge Kraft
(A lot of strength for that)
Doch ich hab immerhin
(But after all I have)
Schon ganz was anderes geschafft"
(already been able to do other (harder) things"
It is, I'm almost certain, my favorite kids song, and I recommend it to everyone everyone everyone, in hard time and good times.

Just a simple drawing from one of the Musicals in the Mixture Style of My Own and the Show's version featuring my own Personal Re-Design of Lilli.
Since after I did my own optional designs for Lilli, I was originally going for the 2nd one but I got some Tag Comments on this Art Blog saying on how that the 3rd design suits her even more and when I re-looked at one of my optional designs, I realize on how much that the Ballerina one suits her even way more than the Last Two so yeah, this is a true official design for My Lilli redesign.
Though, granted, I was originally going to draw my own personal interpretations of them together but seeing on how I wanted to draw Tabaluga's canon look, I went with their Canon designs rather than my own Fanon designs as I truly wanted to know on how Canon! Tabaluga would really look in my own artstyle and yeah, at this point, I think I nailed it completely compare to my own artstyle of Arktos.
Now, like I said, I wish I could often understand a certain foreign language as I don't specifically understand German (hence, that's why I tried to watch the Musicals) but I always truly wanted to see a scene of Tabaluga and Lilli's love song together ever since I've been listening to one of its Songs (despite again, not Me learning about German) but since I got really extremely pissed that the Mackenzie Ziegler version of the Movie had to cut that off (since I couldn't stand that I had to get through literally every Damn Add on Amazon through Freevee) because from what I've heard, it was one of those Beautiful Songs from the Franchise that's very important to both the Romance and their own Arc.
Luckily, the Kristin Fairlie version is still out there on the Internet Archive (which does kept that scene very well), so hopefully that helps a lot for this Beautiful Song from its Musical that I highly recommend y'all check it out to listen to if you're the kind of person who enjoys some Sweet Classic Love Songs.
Anyway, considering that it's been stated these Two Lovebirds share a Star-Crossed Love between their own People (with their own Fathers having an Extreme Hate feud), and even them being a Beauty and the Beast type-pairing...I happened to be a Huge Sucker for both of these Tropes. Why? Because I can, lol.

Do you have any holiday traditions?
Yes, I do.
I think I will stick to the December and January ones. Also, my fam and I follow German traditions, since we are German (even though both my bros and I were born and mostly raised in the USA)
First, there is St. Nick’s, in which on the night of the 5th of December, where the kids put out their biggest boots by the chimney. Although the older of my younger brothers (who I will call J for this) and I are no longer children, we still get gifts.
Between then and Christmas, there isn’t much, besides my grandma’s birthday (my mom’s mom). We actually don’t decorate the Christmas tree. It is done by the adults and Das Christkind, usually while most of us are at church (my grandma goes to the earlier mass). We celebrate first at my mom’s, since we live there. J (when he visits) and I are only partially allowed to help, since although we are both adults, we are still considered as children because... well, I don’t really know. Anyway, we actually open presents on Christmas Eve, after the bell is rung, signalling that Das Christkind has left and we can celebrate.
Before opening gifts, we sing a few songs and take pictures. Then we sit at our designated piles and open them from youngest to oldest.
Christmas Day is spent with the other side of the family.
A few days later is my mom’s birthday, then we go to New Year’s. On the eve, before the countdown, we usually do Bleigießen, and have cheese and chocolate fondues. Then its the Countdown and watching fireworks (unless J is there to do some small fireworks).
And on Jan. 3rd is my birthday (as well as Tolkien’s which I was ecstatic about when I found out).
That’s pretty much it.
For songs, we do have a collection of German Christmas songs, believe it or not. Most of the ones we listen to is from Rolf Zuckowski (who has retired), as he created music for kids and adults. One of the most popular children Christmas songs he created is In der Weihnachtsbäckeri (In the Christmas Bakery). But I enjoy a vast majority of songs he’s written, not just the Christmas ones (admittedly, I haven’t heard all of them). He also sings pretty well in English- three of them I’ve heard being My Little Darling, Birds of Paradise, and Roll over Beethoven (that was in a concert video and I can no longer find it -_-)
But yeah, that’s what my family does for Christmas.
What do you do? And if anyone else wants to share their holiday traditions, go ahead!

it’s my birthday! so as a present to you all i return with a vocab list after only like half a year (oops) thank you for supporting my blog over the past year and all your sweet messages 💚
der Geburtstag - birthday die Geburtstagsfeier - birthday party/celebration das Geburtstagsgeschenk - birthday present das Geschenk - present das Geburtstagslied - birthday song die Glückwünsche - congratulations die Karte - card die Kerze - candle der (Geburtstags)Kuchen - (birthday) cake ein Stück Kuchen - a piece of cake jemandem zum Geburtstag gratulieren - to congratulate someone for their birthday Alles Gute zum Geburtstag! - Happy Birthday! (jemandem) etwas (zum Geburtstag) schenken - to give (someone) a (birthday) present
sich freuen - to be delighted feiern - to celebrate singen - to sing x Jahre alt werden - to turn x years (old) x Jahre alt sein - to be x years old Kerzen auspusten - to blow out candles
Some common birthday songs:
Happy Birthday (English version but “liebe/r” instead of “dear”)
Zum Geburtstag viel Glück (translation for Happy Birthday)
Wie schön, dass Du geboren bist (Rolf Zuckowski Version)
Viel Glück und viel Segen (lyrics)
A litte culture note: In Germany there is a superstition that if you congratulate someone on their birthday before the actual day, you cause them bad luck and it might be that they don’t actually make it to their birthday. Furthermore it is just seen as impolite to congratulate early if you have no valid reason why you couldn’t just congratulate on the date. Belated congratulations, however, are normal and not seen as rude. (Here you would say “Alles Gute nachträglich”.)
