thinking hard about clone theories and "Lumon is trying to revive the dead" theories...... they would want to resurrect Kier Eagan himself, right? if not all the dead Eagans. (why else would we see the Perpetuity Wing, if not to foreshadow the intent?)

for all intents and purposes, Lumon is a religious cult with very American Christian roots, and resurrection and eternal life would naturally be at the core. the Eagans could (theoretically) live forever. but it's not just in-house family bullshit. they want to recruit, and they want to ship product, and they've got to maintain a certain degree of public goodwill to do it.

the four tempers are a form of cult and corporate control (in-house lingo), but they mean something more than that, in MDR's mysterious and important work, in the Cold Harbor file. across time and culture, the number four has many significant associations, not least of which are death, sacred origins of creation like gardens and mountains, the number of valence electrons in carbon (the underlying element of life on earth), the neural sweet spot of the brain's precise number sense, and the number of nucleobase types in DNA.

is Kier's body or brain frozen? are they trying to grow clones from DNA samples? are they attempting to program personalities into severance chips? could those severance chips sustain or regrow the cognitive functions of an otherwise comatose brain? was Gemma completely dead, or only mostly dead, or not even dead at all and the whole thing was staged? is Miss Casey a clone or the original? why does Petey's map talk about a "mind" on the severed floor? why does the ghoulish animation of the Lumon building talk about being "sired"?

This year has been such a mess because I was scrambling to try and accommodate his extended family, who wanted to make the trip over to be here for his birthday party, which all got cancelled at the last minute.

Which somehow resulted in him having just me and his dad singing him happy birthday and doing cake and presents with him last week.

Which has now somehow resulted in me booking a second, more legitimate birthday party for him this coming weekend at Chuck E Cheese.

I'm begging abled people to stop saying, "I'd rather die than have [disability]!" or, "how could you not choose to die?" about disabled people being disabled. This especially for those who have an acquired disability.

Maybe this sounds harsh, but if you value the function of your body to the point where you would sacrifice your life over it, that's your business and solely your business. However, that disabled person exists right now. They exist in the same world as you, with a disability you personally would rather die than have. They are alive right now. How the fuck are you going to choose to treat them? Because telling them or implying you'd want to die than be like them is certainly not a good sign.

Creating a post for what I feel was an inspired response: Hot take but I feel like ambessa gives daddy issues and silco gives mommy issues. Silco is like, an overindulgent parent who would hang up ur ugly art on the fridge and refuse to acknowledge any of your (serious) faults at the PTA meeting, while ambessa would tell you to suck it up after falling and crying as a kid. she would begrudgingly show you how to change your oil and make fun of you the whole time for not already knowing how.

"Saturdays by Twin Shadow (feat. HAIM)" is how I've mentally started every post I've made here on a Saturday for the past however many years that song's been out.

I decided I needed bath bombs so I set out to do that and only realized my error when I saw the traffic control person as soon as I turned into the mall. On the Saturday before Christmas. lol

My upstairs neighbor moved out a month ago so I no longer hear about their sex life through my ceiling. My next door neighbor moved out last week so I no longer have to wear my active noise cancelling earplugs to muffle their snoring. It’s quieter around here, but the hot water takes longer to find my tap in the morning.

I deleted a whole chapter about that computer case. You’re welcome.

Never did end up doing Christmas cards this year. I’ve got mixed feelings about that.

I want to do a bunch of dumb end of year data analysis things, but I have to pull a bunch of data to do it, and that’ll take me like a dozen minutes, and that's like a dozen minutes that I could spend not doing that thing. You see my dilemma. Stay tuned, I guess?

I’m the only one on my team not scheduled off on Monday and I think Tuesday next week (and, actually, most of the next 2 weeks). It’s easy enough to keep Teams active and my work email open while I tinker on side quests.

The checkout person at LUSH is always like “oh, are these a gift?” as I unload 9 bath bombs from my basket, as if they don't get many solo middle aged dudes stocking up on bath bombs on Saturday afternoons.

Turns out I miscounted and have 1 too many bath bombs so I’m taking a bath about it.
