we decided to make a bunch of Stanley fall through a dimension rift with all the other stanley and this is mine. I tried to follow the canon style but it didn’t went as such, but i can’t complain =)

anyway, i'm here to ramble about something in ttwl ch. 15 that people probably won't care about because it's, uh, not about That, but here's a fun easter egg that i thought was cool and spent far too much time researching.

cardea & janus!!!

so i fell down a rabbit hole here (no pun intended), looking for a suitable name for cardea, who is by far the most important OC stan encounters. we get our first look at something mentioned way back in chapter 8.

dimensional way finders! turns out they exist, but they're more so people who've extensively studied the way that wormholes appear in reality and use their knowledge and pattern-seeking abilities to control their destinations as they dimension hop. think of her as ford, if ford had 2x the charisma and got really hyperfixated on wormhole travel instead of abnormalities as a kid.

that's when i found out about the roman myth of cardea! she's the goddess of door hinges, or doorways and thresholds more broadly. she is said to have the "power to open what is closed and close what is open." she's also known as the protector of children due to her ability to ward off evil spirits by keeping them outside of the boundary of the home.

janus in roman mythology is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, doorways, passages, and endings. his most notable symbols are the staff and the key, which i had him give to stan in the form of a casino chip.
