Japanese QL Corner
I am currently watching four different Japanese qls every week (is this real life?? I’m not used to this kind of bountiful access to Japanese media) and I don’t want them to get lost in the shuffle amongst the bigger Discourse shows, so I’m going to start posting this little round up at the end of each week. These are all on Gaga and I highly recommend watching!
Chaser Game W
Tumblr media
Finally a high quality gl, we have been waiting so long. And this one is making some really interesting choices, namely in making one of its leads deeply unlikeable. It's clear that Harumoto broke her heart in a deeply foolish way (I smell noble idiocy), but Fuyu's revenge for her hurt feelings is way over the line of what anyone could consider fair. Not only did she pursue this job just to personally harass her ex, she is a terrible boss who is abusing her employees to work out her personal grudges, and she's awful to her husband, as well. This show is smart enough that I trust they have a point with this (likely one that will involve commentary on misogyny and traditional gender roles) so I am hanging in to see what it is.
Sahara Sensei to Toki-kun
Tumblr media
This one is the latest in the Drama Shower line up, and it is really not working for me on the whole, but Toki is a great character and I wish I could port him to another show. This week's episode spent a baffling amount of time filling in a backstory for Sahara that we already understood, and didn't even connect it thematically to the ongoing plot in any meaningful way. In fact, given the backstory we saw, it made even less sense that Sahara would be encouraged to pursue a relationship with Toki. This show just feels very confused about both the social conventions of its universe and what it's ultimately trying to say. Looking forward to it wrapping next week and seeing what Drama Shower has on tap next.
Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yara ka
Tumblr media
I LOVE THIS SHOW. Sakae is such a kind soul, and Soga is a dear. I love that this show is exploring the reality of what it looks like for an "opposites attract" pair to actually try to find common ground. Sakae falling for Soga at first sight, only to realize they have nothing in common and he will have to work hard to build a bond with him, is such a delight. And I like that it feels reciprocal and Soga is also making a sincere effort. And this show is doing nice things with the side characters, too. Tatsuta is a great Get A Grip Friend for Sakae, and Kazuyo is such a sweetheart that I really hope she'll stick around rooting for this pair once she inevitably gets let down gently. Also loved getting a glimpse of the exes this week and hope to see more filled in there.
Ossan's Love Returns
Tumblr media
I am saving this one for last on Fridays going forward, because it's such a great note to end my week on. I already posted last week about why I'm so in love with it, and this week continued the love fest. This show is SO FUCKING FUNNY while also having some really awesome messages about relationships and love at any age. I love the way Maki and Haruta are given the same cute couple moments we'd see for younger bl pairs, and the casual affection between them really stands out among more reserved depictions of Japanese couples. Highlights this week also included father-in-law bonding, Takegawa trying out a Bachelor-esque reality show in his quest for a diaper partner, Chief continuing to be an absolute delight in every scene, and several new twists in the mystery of the neighbors (loved that Haruta was having all the same reactions to that backstory that I was). ONSEN EPISODE NEXT WEEK, BABY!

Hiii! How about 14 and 17 for the ask game? 💕
Hii 💕 thanks for asking me the questions! Sorry I went a little overboard with my answers but they were a lot of fun to write.
14. bl you think is underrated
There’s a few really great shows that come to mind like Triage and Vice Versa but the first one I thought of was actually My Secret Love. It aired May this year but I don’t remember seeing many people talking about it. Probably because the premise is pretty straightforward, set in University, enemies to lovers, nothing particularly genre defying or unpredictable. I think it’s underrated because it features a lot of great friendships and some of my favourite relationship tropes and is a well made enjoyable show.
It has the essential Enemies to Lovers but also my favourite underrated trope of Best Friends to Lovers. As well as an adorable established relationship couple and the cute fan and idol style relationship Bomb and Bear have. All four couples are very likeable and are successful in having their own individual storylines without making the show feel too cramped. The show balances it’s lightheartedness and jokes with it’s more emotional scenes while it starts off quite unserious, it becomes a bit more intense as the show progresses. I don’t think it’s the greatest show ever and it’s not one of my favourites but for some reason it’s the show I thought of when I saw the question. I definitely recommend giving it a watch and, if you do, let me know what you think.
17. best kiss
No contest. Didn’t even have to think about it. Bad Buddy episode 5 rooftop scene is the best kiss scene hands down. The range of emotions I felt watching it. The way Ohm and Nanon put their whole souls into that kiss. And the scenes leading up to it? The building of tension throughout the whole episode culminating in ’Do you want us to be friends?’ ‘No.’ Makes me crazy. The first part of the kiss followed by the slow separation and then Pran pulling Pat in to kiss him again like it’s the only time he will ever get to do it? Actually makes me insane. The music. The hands in each others hair. The absolute heartbreak you can feel them both go through at the end. Pat’s sadness coming only after Pran leaves because for a second he is just so happy that he finally understands his feelings and that they are reciprocated and it’s beautiful but him soon realising that it’s not all okay and that it’s never going to be that simple for them. I can’t fathom a scene that could possibly beat it and I wish I could watch it again for the first time every day.
Honorary mention to my favourite kiss of the year which is the Eclipse episode 6 imaginary kiss. I know it’s not real but the fact is we all thought it was, for everyone watching, Akk and Ayan’s feelings for each other had been slowly building and the tension had been building almost imperceptibly throughout the episodes and they went from enemies to more than enemies so smoothly that you could barely pinpoint when their feelings appeared or even when they became aware of those feelings. The kiss seemed like a solid awareness of those feelings from both sides and presented a vulnerability from both characters that we had yet to see (even if it was fake vulnerability). And maybe because we watching knew these characters weren’t aware enough of their feelings to kiss each other that the kiss seemed that much more intense? Because despite not understanding their feelings for each other and still being enemies they were kissing anyway. Like once they started they were only drawn further in and got lost in it. Plus of course the scenes leading up to it that made it that much more real being the intense and emotional beach scene and the tension of the locker room scene where they 100% would have kissed if they hadn’t been interrupted. Also it’s super funny that everyone was waxing poetic about the kiss and what it meant for their relationship only for us all to get clowned as soon as the next episode came out.
Basically first kiss scenes are my favourite thing ever because I love the tension and emotions and everything about them and you should never (always) ask me about first kiss scenes because I will go crazy talking about how much I love them.

"Saturday morning, jumped out of bed and put on my best suit. Got in my car and raced like a jet all the way to you. Knocked on your door with my heart in my hands, to ask you a question, 'cause I know that you're an old-fashioned man. Yeah."
Billy was freshly graduated, working as a lifeguard whilst his girlfriend worked her own job, both saving up for their chance to ditch Hawkins and move to California. Sweet Cali. Billy was excited to show the love of his life around the place he called home. Though, physically, he left the salty ocean and windy beach behind, the place never truly left him.
You could see it in his eyes. The waves crashing in his blue orbs. He swore the scent had just barely clung to his belongings; the smell of the tangy air that followed a majority of the state. Working at a pool was the closest he got to the memory of California. Chlorine was most certainly not the salted ocean waters, but with the circumstances, he decided it'd do.
The way his face lit up whenever he talked about his home...it made Y/n more and more excited to see it. His girlfriend had grown up in Hawkins, stayed there her whole life. Never once did the Hoppers leave Hawkins.
But the second that was introduced to Billy, he knew it had to change.
Although they were saving for a big move, Billy had...other things in mind with what to do with his first large pay-check (or series, rather. Working as a lifeguard didn't pay well with just one check). He began to work more shifts to make up for the money he'd spent, and one day after calling in for a day off, he decided to put his plan into action.
"Billy, stop messing with the tie."
"It's annoying." Hands slapped away his attempts of adjusting the black silk tie.
"Well it won't stop being annoying if you keep fucking it up."
For the first time in a long time, Neil Hargrove was calm. Not happy, not amused, not pissed off for some unjust reason- just calm. He wasn't wreaking havoc and he wasn't being an asshole to his son. Billy hadn't seen this side of his dad in quite some time, in fact, he thought something important was going on and he was about to fuck it all up. And then, Susan retreated to the living room with a camera and a freshly ironed suit.
"You're not putting me in that."
"And who asked for your opinion?" Neil deflected with a raised brow. One heavy sigh later and Billy was leaving the bathroom, dawning the whole black and white getup.
Susan clasped her hands over her mouth, a tear leaving her eye, "You look so handsome! Just like your dad!"
Billy rolled his eyes, "Great."
However, his careless attitude was swept under the rug when the blue Camaro pulled up to the police station, interrupting a clearly distressed Chief Hopper bickering with his daughter. Billy had to get himself together before stepping out of the car, jaw slack after seeing the beauty he got to call his date.
"Hello Mr-"
"Don't even try play nice with me, Hargrove. She's not going anywhere with you. End of story." Hopper kept his eyes trained on the blond, body tense like a snake preparing to strike it's prey.
Y/n grabbed Billy's arm, slowly directing him to the car, "And in the sequel, we find out I am going with Billy. End of that story."
"There is no 'sequel.' The writer got drunk and lazy." She paused, turning to face her father who stood tall, arms crossed and face unamused.
"So his daughter picked up where her father left off, and then the sequel was published and the two lived happily ever after, the end."
While her dad attempted to search for a line that would better hers and force her to stay, she pushed Billy toward the driver's side and slid into the car as fast as she could, rolling down the window as Billy started it up. "Bye! I'll be back before midnight!"
The two drove off toward the school, leaving behind a trail of dust and very, very, pissed off Hopper.
Prom was better than Billy thought it would be. He didn't want to go at first, but after Max found out and spoke to her mom about it (the little redhead a cupid-in-the-making), Neil pushed him to go (as he was "doing something else besides being a lazy-no-good rebel"). It was then that he called Y/n and asked if she'd be going.
The suit came in handy. Clashing with his rocker aesthetic, he put it back on once more. The once-annoying tie proved to be somewhat okay in the end.
Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? Say yes, say yes, 'cause I need to know. You say I'll never get your blessing "till the day I die, tough luck my friend, but the answer is no!"
Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too? Why you gotta be so rude? I'm gonna marry her anyway. Marry that girl, marry her anyway! Marry that girl, yeah, no matter what you say! Marry that girl, and we'll be a family! Why you gotta be so rude?
With a deep breath, he ran-over the conversation in his head once more. Like a script for an actor, he had thought of every possible outcome and every possible line for him to face it with. He almost chickened out as his fist rose to the door, but it was too late, for his knuckles rapped against it before he realized he was even knocking.
El opened the door, eyes wide when she saw the familiar mullet and button-down. "Papa..." She muttered as she backed away and out of view.
Hopper traded places with her, his lazy expression sobering up instantaneously, replaced with a grumpy scowl. "Hargrove."
"Mr. Hopper, sir."
"What are you doing on my front porch?"
He swallowed roughly, palms sweaty against his sides. "I was wondering if I could talk to you."
"You seem to be doing just that right now, Hargrove." Hop crossed his arms and clenched his jaw.
Well, this was certainly not something Billy had thought of. He was on panic mode internally, attempting to find any response that could save his hide and accomplish what he set out to do. Unfortunately, the word-vomit button seemed to be misplaced under the button labeled "help".
"I'd like to marry your daughter, sir."
Hop's eyes grew just as big in size as El's had when she opened the door. He choked on his own surprise, coughing it off, then glaring at the boy in front of him. "Over my dead body, Hargrove. If that's all, I'd strongly advise you to get off of my fucking porch while you're still alive."
I hate to do this, you leave no choice; can't live without her. Love me or hate me, we will be boys- standing at that alter. And we will fly away, to another galaxy, you know. You know she's in love with me, she will go anywhere I go-
"Billy, he's just stubborn."
"No, no, I don't think he likes me."
Y/n sighed, rubbing her boyfriend's back. He hadn't told her of his proposal plans, only that Hop seemed to have it out for him. "It'll take time, but he'll warm up to you!"
"It's been how many years since he's met me?"
"To be fair, your reputation wasn't doing you any good until now..."
"It's not like that was fucking obvious." He slouched further down in the front seat of his Camaro. To Billy, all hope was lost. If he couldn't get Hopper to give him his blessing, he was sure he'd lose his goddamned mind.
Y/n frowned. Her frown flipped around as an idea popped into her head, her lips finding Billy's knuckles and quirking his attention. "Even if he never likes you, I'm not going anywhere."
Billy laughed softly, "he'll fucking kill me if you go against him."
"Eh, that's only if he can catch us."
"You're out of your fucking mind, Y/n Hopper."
"I know."
The rest of the night was spent in the Camaro, of course, doing one of Billy's favorite pastimes. By the time the sun rose, Billy was sneaking a kiss to a giggling Y/n before dropping from her window in the cabin and running to his car, parked far enough that Hop or El wouldn't notice. He blew her one more kiss, which she pretended to catch, then he broke into a sprint.
Maybe, he thought, just maybe; there was still a chance.
His knuckles hit the door again, shifting on his feet nervously. It swung open to reveal Hopper, an unimpressed look bringing no surprise Billy's way. It was quite expected, honestly.
"What." His tone made it clear he wasn't up for fucking around.
"Mr. Hopper, if you just give me one chance to prove to you that-"
"No, no, no, no, no. Let me make it very clear to you that I want you to have nothing to do with my daughter whatsoever. No marriage, no friendship, I don't even approve of you guys fucking or whatever-"
"We're in a serious relationship, sir. It's nothing like you think it is."
This made Hop laugh. He continued to do so, holding his stomach, until he realized Billy was unamused. "Oh, you're serious?... My answer is still no, Hargrove. My answer will always be no. Go find someone else's daughter's heart to break. You're not hurting mine."
"It's not like-"
Before he could even get the words out, he was met with a door in his face. Turned down, again.
Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? Say yes, say yes, 'cause I need to know. You say I'll never get your blessing "till the day I die, tough luck my friend, 'cause the answer's still no!"
Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too? Why you gotta be so rude? I'm gonna marry her anyway. Marry that girl, marry her anyway! Marry that girl, yeah, no matter what you say! Marry that girl, and we'll be a family! Why you gotta be so rude, rude?
Again, again, and again, Billy incessantly pleaded with Hopper. Different tactics were all met with the same answer; rejection.
He held up a sign outside the cabin, only for Hopper to close the curtain and chuckle as he sipped his coffee.
He asked at the door again, only for Hop to threaten to give him a black eye (which was met with "aren't you the sheriff? Isn't that illegal?").
He raced past the police station, Max leaning out the window with another sign, only for Hop to threaten them with holding cells.
He even went as far as to ask Max and El to help, but Hopper had none of that, and sent Max home with a rant full of nos.
However, if Jim Hopper thought any of it would get it into Billy's head that getting his blessing was just not happening- he was as wrong as Nancy when she claimed not to have feelings for Jonathan.
Billy had another plan in mind, and this one was impossible to say no to.
Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? Say yes, say yes, 'cause I need to know. You say I'll never get your blessing "till the day I die, tough luck my friend- but no still means no!"
"Hopper." Billy stood before his desk, interrupting his nice date with a delicious doughnut, and earning a very annoyed glare. "I got Miss Byer's blessing. Aren't you two a thing?"
"You son of a-"
"I got Eleven's too."
"Hargrove, I'm gonna-"
"Before you cuss me out, I think you should know that I've got a stable job, an interview with a mechanic so I have a job when the pool closes for the winter, and I've got a house on the market I'm looking at. I'm devoted to your daughter and she's devoted to me. You may not like me, but I think you're a great dad, better than the one I was unfortunately stuck with. You raised a strong and amazing woman. She's incredible and I admit, she deserves better than me-"
"You don't have to say that twice." Hopper huffed, crossing his arms.
"I know she deserves so much better than me, I'm surprised she's even with me too. But she loves me, and I think you can see that. I love her too. I would never, in a million years, break her heart."
Jim stayed silent for a few minutes. The silence brought uneasiness to Billy, but that was intentional on Hopper's behalf. He finally piped up with a cough, clearing his throat, before his piercing eyes met Billy's blue orbs.
"I'll hold you to that, Hargrove."
Why you gotta be so rude?
Bonus:
(after the wedding)
"What was that about a no?" Billy quipped with his infamous smirk.
"You're lucky I'm sheriff, Hargrove."
Why you gotta be so rude?

I am out here struggling to move on from Bad Buddy. It ended over a month ago but Tumblr and Twitter have not moved on from the show which is making it difficult to not think about it. And don't get me started on how OhmNanon being besties everywhere is not helping either. I have talked in lengths about this show, and I thought I said my goodbyes to it weeks ago. But, hello again Bad Buddy. I have more to say!
I feel that I have already said what I need to about Pran, and Nanon. I love them. They are amazing. Nanon is talented af. But what has been weighing on me the most is Pat and his father. So much so that I want to talk about it.
To say what I want, I have to bring in one of my other favorite BLs. If you haven't watched He's Coming to Me.... you need to. Ohm is the main character and paired with Singto. It is directed by P'Aof. A boy (Ohm) falls in love with a ghost (Singto) and lets that ghost move in with him to uncover what killed him. The premise sounded.... strange to me at first but it is a beautiful story about accepting yourself and the love you have, whatever form that comes in. But I am straying way far from the point I was trying to make. If you haven't seen the show, Ohm has my favorite coming out scene with his mother. It is emotional and heartbreaking and at the end, she accepts him, cries with him, and hugs him. Nothing will change the love she has for him. Counter that with the coming out Pat has with his father in Bad Buddy. There is no acceptance. No hugs. No tears of love. There is anger and hatred and shoving Pran onto the floor. The one thing Pat loves most in this world was hurt by the one person he never wanted to disappoint. And that hurts Pat.
I truly believe Pat never had a healthy relationship with his father. Accepting nothing less than perfection and pushing your beliefs onto your child is not a good way to parent. It puts a strain on that relationship and that is what happened to Pat and his father. Pat was scared to disappoint or go against his father's wishes. Until he met Pran and couldn't handle it anymore. He fell in love with the one person his father didn't like. And the one person he knew his father would never approve of. Which leads me to think, Pat knew this is where he would get to. He never could have both Pran and his family. But when did he realize that and fully accept it? Was it when he realized his feelings for Pran? During the flirting game and he decided to lose to Pran? After coming out to his father about his relationship? During the runaway beach trip? After the "breakup"? At some point, Pat made the choice to always chose Pran over his father. I feel it was back when he realized his feelings for Pran. The shower he had after the fight, the emotions he was feeling, I believe that is when he realized what his future held. He picked Pran when standing under that water. And he never looked back once he got up onto that roof. But why did he have to chose between the two? Between his father and Pran. The real reason... his father sucks the most! His father has spent his whole life hating others to get the edge up. Putting his own needs and wants over others. He did it to Pran's mom, and he did it to Pat. Pat's father has the emotional capacity that he did in high school. It all feels very childish. Which I think was the point. Through his relationship with Pran, Pat has matured and become more of a man then his father ever will be. Sadly, that means that his relationship with his dad must suffer for it. And at the end of the show, I was left thinking, why can't Pat's father just grow up. Why can't he be a decent adult and love his child unconditionally. I realize his father is not homophobic (which yay for that!), but his hate for Pran shows his unacceptance for Pat
I think Pat and Pran did the right thing. They chose love, because love should always win. They will be happy with each other and if their parents can't accept that, screw them. Their parents don't need to have a place in their lives at that point. But my heart breaks at the unfairness of some parents. It is a real thing the queer community has to deal with. It is not fair, or right. I hope we eventually get to a point in our society where everyone has a coming out like Ohm did in He's Coming to Me. I hope we say goodbye to the days of Pat's father. Or better yet, goodbye to the need of coming outs. Love is love and everyone is welcome here in the world I chose to live in.

my thoughts and opinions on "lovely writer": criticizing the critic
tw for discussions of age gaps, rape, and sex
before i turn into the mean and constantly dissatisfied archer that we all know and hate, i just want to say that i liked this show. i think it's great, actually! gene and sib are appropriately cute, the premise is nice, and the attempt at criticizing the industry is... well, an attempt, which is better than nothing. moreover, "lovely writer" came with gifts because it gave me my new favorite character, so you can't go telling me i'm trying to completely obliterate it or something.
besides, this specific post isn't going to get into analyzing the show as a whole anyway. i won't be talking about any irrelevant plot points, cinematography, sound design, or anything like that, though i could probably write a post just as long as this one about that side of things as well. however, i am here to specifically look at the problematic things that were both criticized by the show and included in the show without any criticism. i'm going to talk about the more serious side of things here, which means i'm going to get serious. and i'm going to be harsh. very harsh.
gene and nubsib: yes's and no's
overall, the relationship between gene and sib was a fair attempt at showing something complex, yet ultimately quite healthy, which i appreciate. there were some things i was especially glad about. the fact that sib dated other people before settling on getting together with gene, for example, makes the whole situation a little less codependent. however, as much as this show prides itself on not wanting to romanticize problematic relationships, there are at least two major problems with genesib.
the age gap (and why it was not needed)
i've tried my very best to give this entire concept the benefit of the doubt. at first, i was convincing myself that they were simply close childhood friends, then i was trying my best to believe that even though sib did have a sort of crush on gene (which sometimes happens to little children), gene only saw him as his younger brother, but eventually, the show gave me no choice, but to deem the entire storyline problematic, because they did their best to romanticize that relationship - from gene's dad seeing the "early signs" to the counting and kissing the cheek turning to counting and full-on lip-locking in the last episode.
i could go into how this could all easily be mended if little sib was shown as kind of obsessed with his older friend, but gene was shown as not being anywhere near interested in the kid. but the real question is - why was the age gap needed at all?
i've researched the age of the boys during the flashbacks to the best of my ability and it seems that gene is 11 and sib is 6 or 7. if sib was the same age as gene (or maybe just one year younger, but not any more than that), not only would none of it feel weird, it would also be quite appropriate to explore that first glimpse of romantic feelings some of us experience exactly around that age. i don't think it's necessary for sib to be much younger than gene (children can be just as impressionable at 11 as they are at 7, and as for gene being surprisingly nice and helpful and the other kids not wanting to play with sib, he could have easily been - for example - bullied by his peers instead, which would have the same effect).
moving forward to the present, i don't think the lack of an age gap would affect the storyline that much either. even if they desperately needed sib to be a university student, they could have that one-year difference i've talked about before, which is not as significant. sib could be in his last year of uni, while gene could have easily written his very first novel during his university years, which would actually make more sense (since that guaranteed him employment and freedom to write after he finished uni; and i would rather believe that he had time to write his first novel in-between classes than in-between shifts at work, which he would surely need to have if he started writing after finishing university).
so that brings me back to my initial question - why was it needed? and much like the show often does, i will leave this one up for your interpretation because i do not have any sensible answers myself.
the issue with sex and consent
"but archer!" - i hear you exclaim - "lovely writer is known for explicitly denouncing rape romanticization in bls, how could there possibly be any problems with consent here?" and i hear you, my dear reader. and you aren't incorrect, "lovely writer" is indeed very explicit at calling out bls for having rape scenes (and i do appreciate that). however, as i'm sure you know, there are different ways in which consent can be taken from a person, and there are different non-consensual acts that someone might perform. for example, there are many different forms of coercion, such as the person being persuaded until they feel like they have no other choice, but to say yes. touching someone or kissing someone without asking for permission are also non-consensual acts. i can go on and on, there are many examples outside of what so many people consider rape.
now, what if i tell you that though there (thank the gods) has been no rape present in "lovely writer", not all scenes with gene and sib are consensual? well, that's what i'm telling you because it's the truth. both the first kissing scene and the scene where gene and sib "try out different poses" have clear coercion in them. the entire "joke" of the scene before gene and sib's first time is literally built upon the concept of "a person is trying to run away from someone, who wants to have sex with them" and it is NOT funny. the later reveal of gene actually looking up how to have sex seems to be there on purpose, to show that everything that's happened is "ok" because gene was thinking about it. as a sensible person, i will only accept actual enthusiastic consent and not someone possibly maybe probably considering it. not to mention that right before having sex, sib asks gene one last time if he is sure, which is great, except it is immediately followed by "i'm not going to let you change your mind anymore", which - daily reminder - you are allowed to stop having sex at any point during the act if you start feeling uncomfortable with it. that's absolutely normal.
now the problem that we seem to run into here is that "lovely writer" appears to think that it's ok to push someone to the limit until they either finally agree or confidently and loudly disagree. the drama has repeatedly shown us that actually forcing someone to have sex is not ok; however, persuading and otherwise coercing someone, as well as taking an approximate guess of them wanting to have sex based on some marginally related factors, is ok. i would like to once again remind everyone that all of that is not ok.
one more issue i want to bring up in connection with sex is something i wish was common knowledge: it is NOT supposed to hurt during your first time. whether you are planning to have vaginal or anal sex for the first time, it should not hurt. and if it does, something has definitely gone wrong and you need to stop. you are not supposed to experience any pain or discomfort during sex, including your first time (outside of desired and therefore intentionally inflicted pain, but that's not what i'm talking about here). i have seen this misconception brought up many times in bls along with the other person "thanking the person who got hurt for bearing the pain to bring them pleasure" and absolutely none of that is normal. stop. please, just... stop.
criticism of the BL industry
there are certainly quite a few things i liked about the way "lovely writer" criticized the many problems that surround bls. i think they dealt especially well with the fan aspect. the breaches of privacy that are considered normal, the toxicity of social media that encourages people to comment on other people's personal life, harass and stalk them - all of that was shown in its full glory (or rather horror) and clearly condemned. it was also interesting to see how easily everyone around sib fell into the routine of having to hide genesib's relationship, just because "that's what's supposed to be done in these situations" - even tum did that without thinking twice.
however, i have not spent the past three years hating gmm for a show trying to criticize the industry not to focus on criticizing the production company and everyone professionally involved with the making of bls. don't get me wrong - they didn't completely overlook that side of things, but i found the way they approached it dissatisfying.
like yes, tum fights with his sister (aka sib's manager) and calls her out for her terrible actions, and the publisher (bua) eventually apologizes for what she did, but all of that feels a bit too... personal. i do not care about these individual stories. i care about you saying that the whole system is broken because it very much is. i wanted manner of death but with the bl industry, and instead, i got an "uwu the fans are demanding we do this, and our hands our tied" (which is a lie) and "uwu i'm just trying to make money" (which i mean... if you feel ok milking even more money than you already have by doing something unethical and immoral, then be my guest, but also go fuck yourself). besides that, i didn't see any criticism of tabloids or exploitative celebrities either (both of which we had examples of in the show), and that was kind of disappointing.
coming back to the fans for a moment, i also think that the criticism of real people shipping was entirely unsuccessful. we basically mostly got an "oh, what if this person's partner thinks they are actually dating", which... if a bunch of people on the internet who do not know your boyfriend personally and make all their judgments from screenshots and their imagination can convince you that your boyfriend is cheating, i've got some bad news for you and also a number for a therapist. partly i know why it was so complicated for them to get into it properly - the issue with real people shipping is an issue of privacy, boundaries, the perception of celebrities, acceptable interests, and many other complex topics. however, it's better to not criticize something than to criticize it badly and inaccurately (because the latter usually leads to even more encouragement of whatever you were attempting to criticize).
aey: the flamboyant villain
aey certainly starts as a promisingly complex character, but the farther we go from his backstory and his family, the less complex and the more evil he gets. eventually, the trauma he goes through is no longer enough to give him a get-out-of-jail-free card, and he loses all remaining sympathy after sexually harassing gene and pretending to drug sib. and i did start this post by saying that i am not to analyze any plot points or characters from the show here; however, i'm saying all this to prove a point that aey is a clear villain in the show. this is further cemented by the fact that by the end of the show he loses the only two people who cared about him, and the very last moment with him in the show is literally just him crying for about 3 minutes. there was no redemption arc, no pity, no revenge - he was left alone and broken, clearly punished by the narrative. and i've got a bone to pick here as well.
one of the first things that we find out about aey is that he is gay, and quite openly so. he is repeatedly described as very feminine by many characters, he flirts with men, he talks about being good in bed, and his entire character is built upon being gay (half of it directly, and the other half due to the fact that his entire backstory and therefore personality is also built upon the fact that he is gay). he is - for the lack of a better term - the gayest character in the show and the only one who is loud about being gay not because he is in love but simply because it is a part of him and he doesn't want to hide it. and he is the villain. not the disgusting publisher or the terrible manager - no, this guy was specifically chosen to ruin everyone's lives. and i can't say i'm particularly happy about that. *british voice* seems a bit homophobic love
not quite queer enough
as i said, aey is openly gay. gene and sib also eventually say that they are gay, gene's father teep is queer, so are tiffy and mhok. but it just doesn't seem to come up as much as it would in real life. the only time anyone has a problem with any of the characters being queer is when we deal with the parents. but knowing actual queer thai actors in real life, we are all aware how hard it can be for them, but it has not come up even once for aey, gene or sib (with genesib only being a problem because they are a "non-shippable couple"). being queer is far from being a non-issue in the industry, and i found it incredibly weird that it was never brought up (and i would also prefer if they brought that up instead of showing the unaccepting parents plot for the millionth time).
same goes for the lack of conversation around queer people on set. i think we all have a wonderful example of how much better a bl can get simply when it involves a queer director and/or screenwriter (gods bless p'aof), gay actors, etc. i also thought it was a missed opportunity that gene being a gay man writing a bl novel was never highlighted. if anything, everyone made a big deal out of him being a man writing a bl - never mind that he is a gay man that is far more qualified to write bls than a straight woman.
in conclusion, there are simply not enough queer issues talked about here for a show that is about queer people facing difficulties while making a queer drama.
tiffy and tum: the good, the bad, and the ugly
overall, tiffy and tum are quite cool. outside of my own personal feelings, i really liked the clear reversal of gender roles they have going on: he knows lots about make-up, she knows nothing about it, he knows how to sew, she knows how to repair a car, etc.
tiffy is also a nice addition to the precious few queer girls we have in bls. however, the way her being bi is executed... it isn't great. when she first talks about dating girls to tum, she says things like "even though i look like this" (implying queer girls have a certain look?) and "maybe it seemed normal because i was at an all-girls school" (which wtf does that even mean?). i think the worst thing, though, was when she assumed tum was gay. my best guess is she thought so because she initially thought that tum and gene were a couple; however, she should be the first person to know that just because he likes men, it doesn't mean that he doesn't like women or any other gender. even though there was nothing explicitly leading me to make this conclusion, this whole thing did kind of feel like the old "flipping the switch" stereotype (meaning, she used to like women, but now she likes men, and both of them can't happen simultaneously).
make it make sense
i think i've never been more confused in my entire life than when i found out that the director of "lovely writer" also happens to be the director of "th*arnt*pe". and if at first, i was asking a lot of questions about this peculiar individual, who went from working on the worst rape-romanticizing show we have ever had to a show that explicitly states that rape is not normal. but the more i thought about it, the less i was interested in him, and the more i was interested in whoever made the decision to hire him. there are dozens of different directors that have worked specifically on bls, and even more that haven't. yet out of all those, you decided to choose this one. the dude, who before your show has only directed the show with the biggest rape-y vibes. that casts a particular kind of shade on the entire show that i simply do not like.
conclusion
at the end of the day, i think what "lovely writer" tried to do was very interesting. it succeeded in some ways and failed in others. frankly, i think this show could have easily been made better if someone queer was involved in making it. that's always true, but especially so, when we try to talk about the issues of making a queer drama. either way, it's certainly a good start to this conversation; however - as i said - i'm still waiting for my manner of death but with the bl industry. this was unfortunately not it.

itsay ep 4 (thoughts + spoilers)
idk even know how to even start this bc i feel like i’m just a big ball of emotions, and this ep was wild. so much happened. last ep was so wonderful and almost languid with how everything played out (esp since it focussed much more specifically on the shift in teh/oh-aew’s relationship). this ep had a bit more of everything, not just the two of them in their bubble anymore. societal forces at play, and hence much more angst. again, this isn’t a  proper analysis, it’s just me ranting and raving as usual as i semi-rewatch this again. this is very long, and there are a lot more things i want to think about in more detail at some point bc i’m mostly just skating over a lot of what happened but i gotta get these thoughts in my head out of me somehow. and i’m not sure if what i’m typing will even make sense bc i MYSELF can barely make sense of what i’m feeling but here i go anyway.
so we start off with the both of them kind of awkward after the night before which is fair enough considering what happened. actually when oh-aew’s habit started playing up again, i thought teh wasn’t going to scratch his back bc he was trying not to ~go there again after the night before, but he did and i was pleasantly surprised like oh...maybe things aren’t that bad?? (YET). also, i can imagine that it would have been reassuring for oh-aew too. like things have changed, but it’s not like teh has completely abandoned him. the touch itself is comforting, like when they were kids.
teh’s mum talking about how she wants both of her sons to bring their girlfriends around (and hounding him about bringing tarn around again) is giving me war flashbacks to my own asian relatives and i can feel the way that must crawl under his skin. I HATE when family members do that (and they always do). but for teh it must be esp hard bc he’s already constantly feeling like he’s vying for his mum’s attention over his brother, and now hoon’s bought back a girlfriend so it’s yet ANOTHER thing he feels like he has to compete with his brother over. in the back of his mind, he knows that he can’t give his mum what she wants if he’s with oh-aew (he can’t ‘win’ over hoon bc heteronormativity). teh is def prone to jealousy fairly easily, but i always feel like his emotions on that base level are also very easy to understand. i’ve been in positions like that before where i’ve felt like i’ve constantly been compared to someone else, and it makes you feel like shit. but also oh-aew having to sit through teh’s mum telling him to let her know if teh and tarn are dating?? ouch.
cue teh trying to avoid what’s going on with them and oh-aew being sad :((( they’re both in so much pain and i feel it and thank god i am no longer a teenager that’s all i can say about this.
the guitar in skyline instrumental is just...making me feel some kind of way. they have so many versions of this song and they always use the right version at the right time how is that.
so the tarn scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!! first thought: holy shit she looks so cute i love her crop top where did she get it i want one. second thought: but why did they make her wear a dark bra under such a light top?? i love that i was thinking this and then it all unravelled in front of me and like...the brilliance. the contrast between the scene in ep 2 (i think?) where teh accidentally peeks at her bra through the buttons of her shirt and gets noticeably flustered, and then this one where she literally wears the same bra under a light shirt ON PURPOSE to get his attention, but he doesn’t even notice?? the way she expects him to colour the hibiscus purple, but he colours it red for oh-aew instead?? it’s so incredibly telling of where his heart is at, and how his feelings have changed. anyway, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that he’s just not all there with her anymore, and tarn isn’t stupid...she’s been picking up on the signals since the beginning (why was he so weirdly obsessed with beating oh-aew at the start? why was he willing to wake up at 4am for oh-aew but not for her? willing to tutor the rest of his friends but not spend time with her?). the way she sees him colouring the hibiscus red and it’s her wake up call, like wtf am i DOING bc of this guy????? i love how she acknowledges that her feelings for teh have made it so she’s solely focussed on him and that she hates the things it makes her do (like wearing the bra to gain his attention). ngl i was slightly worried with how they were going to use her character during these later eps with teh being so conflicted (since girlfriends in BLs are usually handled pretty poorly), but i appreciate that she’s still as fleshed out and full of feeling as she ever was. she’s so sweet, and i just wish she had better than this, but i’m glad she called teh out on it. i know he’s confused af rn, and tbh i don’t think he’s handled this as badly (atm at least) as i thought it could have gone, but at the same time, if he doesn’t decide and set his heart on what he really wants, he’s just going to end up hurting them all. LOVE that she basically tells him to get his shit together first before coming back to her. i like her so much. and that scene of teh just walking around and around at the back feeling conflicted while she drew? really reminds me of the squiggly line timeline(?) of how ep 4 was going to go that nadao released before this ep went live. also cmbyn vibes were real in that one.
the devastation in oh-aew’s voice when he asks teh to at least reply his messages ;;; it’s like teh wants to go back to just being friends and oh-aew has kind of accepted that at this point, but at the same time, teh’s not backing that up. he says he wants to be friends, but he doesn’t know how to act ‘normal’ about it anymore, so he pushes oh-aew away instead. good on oh-aew for not taking that shit and standing up for himself too. i absolutely cannot stand seeing oh-aew sad bc pp’s sad face/voice is so good it actually pains me.
notice how teh ALWAYS uses studies/tutoring as an excuse to get closer to oh-aew again...hmmm...does oh-aew see it for what that is now too? that “you’ve never understood me” hit me like a fucking train. to think that they were so attuned to one another last ep, but now teh’s too caught up in he’s own world to realise just how much he’s hurting oh-aew. thanks, i hate it.
i know that he’s needs to figure himself out more and i absolutely stand by the fact that he needs to do that without messing around with either oh-aew or tarn (and also that he’s using studies again to get into oh-aew’s good books instead of talking through feelings and all that), but the chinese idiom book that he made for oh-aew was actually SO CUTE and romantic. all this stuff he does for oh-aew to show that he clearly cares so much, yet he can never accept it enough to get the words out...
I SWEAR THEY PLAY THE INSTRUMENTAL SKYLINE JUST TO CHOKE ME UP. the darting around each other after the neck kiss COUPLED with the skyline instrumental?? it’s like a sad beach scene 2.0. teh making the first (intimate) move this time. every time he’s trying so hard to convince himself he’s not in love with this boy, and every time he keeps coming back. i always feel such a weird mix of happy and sad when i see them together bc i love them but i know teh in particular, is just not ready yet. like the hug scene made my heart leap, BUT they did it in hiding (under the staircase). all their big intimate scenes are in hiding and that just :(((
teh saying that he loves the seawater on his back bc it holds him up, and oh-aew saying but you have to hold your breath in that posture and it gets uncomfortable so he likes letting it go and just sinking sometimes instead (obv paraphrasing but you get the drift)?? THE WRITING IN THIS. it says so much without telling the audience directly...so poetic. everything about this show is so poetic. the way they sink into the ocean and into that space of oh-aew’s where you can just let yourself go without holding back, and then and only THEN does teh finally kiss oh-aew. and it’s beautiful, after holding back for so long, but it’s also painful bc he’s let go but only within this tiny pocket of space and time. in hiding again. that bird’s eye view shot where you can’t see them at all sealed it for me. like you want to be happy, but you can’t really bc you know that they’ve still got so much more to go...like when teh’s hand grazes oh-aew’s chest and you see oh-aew realise again...like that’s partly what stopped teh the first time in ep 3. when his hands stopped at oh-aew’s chest like it hit in for him that he was a boy. anyway, love that they gave us a skam kiss but i’m also very sad. on another note, how the hell did they hold their breath for that long?????
love that they gave us a further 2 more seconds of teh/oh-aew being cute (CONSTANTLY thinking about teh’s fingers dancing across oh-aew’s face and smushing his face in his hands...oh-aew holding the back of teh’s head...just a brief moment of carefreeness) before they went for the jugular. watching teh fight against himself in this way is what hurts. oh-aew begging him to just let go and accept what they are (the way he keeps going “what did i do wrong?? you feel it too!!”) but he’s so tortured he can’t do it. it’s downright fucking heartbreaking. the “one day i’ll stop feeling this way”...could have just stabbed oh-aew and it would have hurt less. all i know is i’m hurting for the both of them. the repression is real, and it just sucks. this whole thing fucking sucks for both of them (and tarn and bas too at that). idk it just gets me that oh-aew is coming out of this having been rejected once again bc teh isn’t ready yet. and i know this but it doesn’t make me any less upset. not at any of them bc it’s hard i know it’s hard...just at the situation. sometimes it feels like teh’s taking a step forward but then he takes two more back instead. the look on teh’s face when oh-aew was like let’s stop being friends...total devastation. i’m done. don’t want to think about it anymore.
i’m glad that oh-aew’s parents are so supportive of him though. i wasn’t sure how close they were based on their previous interaction but they really love him and i’m glad he has that stability to help him through this.
THE SCENE WITH OH-AEW AND THE BRA FUCKING BLEW ME AWAY. this show is always keeping me guessing, and again yet another thing that i wasn’t expecting but it was so visceral. the red of the bra in comparison to tarn’s bra with the purple hibiscus flowers on it...everything connects. oh-aew looking into the mirror with that bra on and thinking about how things would have been different if only :((( and then his breakdown when he realises that it’s not and that’s the reality of the situation. the feeling that gave me sits so deep within my chest i can’t even begin to carve it out.
teh masturbating when he sees that picture of oh-aew and to that picture of yongjian on his wall (idk why it only now just occurred to me that yongjian is always in red too)?? the self-hatred in this scene. the internalised homophobia. my heart feels so heavy.
he KEEPS reaching and it’s going nowhere bc it won’t ever be enough, and that’s not fair on himself and it’s not fair on tarn. like i understand what he’s going through, and i get that he’s extremely confused and needs the clarification, but when he asks tarn to tell her she loves him and he can’t do the same back for her...i just feel so, so, so fucking bad for tarn.
oh-aew hoping that the worksheets left for him were from teh (which would be very on brand of him), but then seeing bas :( maybe in another world, in another life (like teh and tarn)...but he’s such a sweetheart. bas, best boy ;;;
legit as soon as the gang came to see teh off to bangkok and talk to him about how oh-aew was doing terribly (and wasn’t planning on going to the admission exams) i knew where this was going to go. there’s been so much foreshadowing leading up to this, and this was also one of (if not my main theory) with how things were going to eventually play out. but tbh for some reason i thought it was going to play out later in ep 5...but like damn. damn. the way i understand but at the same time i kept going OH TEH :( throughout this. the utter STRESS this bit put me through. THE MISCOMMUNICATION.
anyway, teh’s love language is clearly acts of service. but it can really be to his detriment when he does things impulsively (albeit with care and good intentions), but he doesn’t use his words so things get lost in translation. sometimes actions just aren’t enough and you really do need words to communicate.
the confirmation scene was so tense...even now i’m just sitting here thinking about it and there’s a hole in my stomach at the thought of what teh must be going through and what he ends up doing. like when that last person on the list shows up and you KNOW it’s going to happen but at the same time it’s like a punch to the chest bc there’s just no doubt that teh’s going to turn it down for oh-aew...OF COURSE he would. oh-aew’s split moment of happiness before realising what teh’s done...the absolute dread i still have in me at the realisation of this.
the tension really kept increasing from here on in...teh coming home and his mum just being so fucking proud of him and telling everyone in the restaurant about how happy she is for him (all while teh is absolutely depleted), then tarn coming in and everything bubbling over when she realises what teh’s done too. realises that teh’s in love with oh-aew (smile is so great in this btw like WOW). the “you hurt me and i’m alright with that, teh, but right now you’re hurting yourself” broke my heart. absolutely love tarn as a character and only ever want the best for her.
when he tells his mum :((((((((((( and his mum just goes on about how hard he’s worked and how much he’s already sacrificed only for him to throw that away. he wanted her to be proud of him SO BAD, wanted to not be compared to his brother for once, only for him to give away his place bc he loves oh-aew more than he wants his mother’s praise. more than he wants to compete and ‘win’ against his brother. when she points to hoon and goes “why can’t you be more like him?” and he just loses it. like rubbing salt in the wound. i’m so glad hoon finally hugged him the way i’ve been wanting to this whole time. the banner congratulating him that teh’s mum made with all his materials from before :((( hoon giving him money for uni :((( you ever watch some things and feel like you’ll never be happy again...
okay the way that everything spiralled during the ig story fight?????? what gets me is that teh sacrificed his place thinking that oh-aew wasn’t going to sit the exam at all (he could have just talked to him and convinced him instead but ughhh i understand i get it). oh-aew thinks he did it bc teh didn’t believe he could get in himself (which of course then spurs him to give it up so he can get in through the exam instead). and when teh sees that, it’s like a smack in the face, like he went through all that only for oh-aew to reject it (him). it’s just layers upon layers of miscommunication and the anxiety of it all absolutely guts me. and then the anger mixing into devastation when he opens his book and sees how it’s all cut up. the remnants a reminder of everything he’s done for oh-aew. this boy that he adores but can’t accept he has feelings for. it’s just this mix of anger and sorrow and what have i fucking done?????? and how could he????? the cast were all fantastic but billkin really had to go above and beyond in this one and i could absolutely feel his pain throughout this.
TO PIGGY BACK ON THIS, like i said before, teh has always used studying/tutoring as a tool to get closer to oh-aew, but seeing that book with all the words gone was in part also him realising he doesn’t have that anymore. he can’t use that tool to get close to oh-aew anymore. the only way forward would be to actually get close to oh-aew without the pretences. and the saddest part of this all is that oh-aew doesn’t even NEED all of that (the tutoring, the book of idioms, the relinquishing of his uni spot)...the only thing he wants is for teh to ADMIT his feelings out loud. to admit that he feels the same way about oh-aew that oh-aew feels about him.
it’s funny bc in the last ep, the conversation that had me feeling the most nervous was when they’re talking at the cape, and oh-aew’s telling teh that he’s a rival and inspiration to him. i always KNEW this was going to come back to haunt them. like a constant circle. friends to rivals to friends to more than friends(?) to rivals. it’s a fine line. narratively, it always had to happen, and now they’re back to competing against one another yet again, and it’s going to be so tough bc they’ll have so much more competition on top of that as well.
next ep is going to be very, very hard on teh, but somehow after this ep, i just feel a lot more hopeful about it? i’m pretty convinced at this point that it won’t end in tragedy (which was the thing that i wanted least of all). of course i want both teh and oh-aew to end up together, but i can understand if they don’t. if this ends with them rekindling their friendship again, that’ll be enough for me. their relationship has been so turbulent and passionate that it needs some stability, and hopefully when teh’s in a better state of mind, when he’s at a place when he’s finally accepted all parts of himself, they’ll get there. so if that means it ends on them running to the cape together (even if they’re not technically together) fulfilling their promise to one another in the sunset, then that’s fine with me. i don’t mind an open ending if it makes sense in the context of the story, and i think something like that would. it’s like after such an angsty episode, you need a slight reprieve from it. i have no doubt in my mind that ep 5 will contain darkness, but i do think that there will be light at the end of the tunnel. so for once i feel truly hopeful about it.
i can’t believe we only have one more ep left to go...

So I recently read Killing Stalking over the course of two days. The first day was spent fleeing my home from flood waters and so I read the first half of the manwha on my phone in the parking lot of a grocery store. I was so absorbed in the story that I didn’t have time to worry about whether or not my house was washing away (it didn’t, and there was no damage, thanks for asking). I know I was pretty late to the party on this one, and it wasn’t because I wanted to avoid the series. To be honest it sounded like something I would love from the moment I heard about it, but at the time, I was busy and ended up forgetting it. I saw some pictures from it on Tumblr a few days back, was reminded, and decided to give it a shot. I have some feelings and random opinions on it that I felt like sharing. Most of these will include spoilers for the entire story, so be warned. Also: TW: ABUSE
But first, my non-spoilery plea to others who haven’t read it (and I guess the first thing I wanted to talk about): If you’re avoiding the series because you’ve heard that it glorifies or romanticizes abusive relationships, you can put that concern to rest. I honestly don’t know how anyone can walk away from the series with that take. The relationship portrayed in the series is nightmarish, and even the parts that aren’t so nightmarish are tense and very much realistic in the way abusive relationships actually work. Abusers aren’t abusive 100% of the time, and that’s what makes them so insidious. If they were terrible all the time, it would be much easier to hate them, leave them, and forget them. Instead, they are often kind, generous, and loving between incidents of abuse. This is to keep their victims emotionally attached to them. For many of these abusers, they may even feel actual love for their victims (a twisted, selfish love for sure, but I’ve always been of the belief that love can be a bad thing in certain situations). So even though there are moments in the series where the relationship seems to be going “well”, there’s always a sense of dread hanging over it, the feeling that at any moment, things are going to explode.
From here on out, there are !!MAJOR SPOILERS!! for the entire series.
A lot of people have identified the most sad or tragic or painful moments for them while reading, and those moments vary quite a bit between people. For me, the moment that gouged out my heart, the moment that was such a punch to the gut that I almost felt physical pain, was just a tiny thing. Toward the end, the first time Bum tries to go to the hospital Sangwoo is at, and the cab driver treats him like shit, Bum thinks “Why does everyone treat me like this?” And then we see flashbacks of moments when Sangwoo was kind to him. And... that right there. That got me. The fact that his abuser, the person who had treated him so cruelly, was also the only person who had treated him with actual kindness, broke my heart. The fact that he’d lived his whole life and experienced nothing but cruelty or indifference or betrayal. The only person who ever made him feel special, feel loved, was also the person who had tormented him. And it hurt so much to read, because I know that’s how many real life abuse victims feel. It was, in my opinion, the most tragic aspect of the series.
My last opinion might be a little controversial. Something I noticed when checking out the fandom for the series was how anyone who even hinted that they’d like for Sangwoo and Bum to be happy together was met with absolute hate and fury (slinging around lots of terrible insults like “failed abortion” and things I won’t repeat here - like yeah great idea explaining how abusive relationships are bad by being verbally abusive). Now, as a logical adult, I know it would be totally impossible for them to have a happy relationship (and indeed they didn’t). I didn’t even want them to be together. I just wanted them both to get a lot of therapy. The “headcanon” I came up with to make myself feel less depressed after the ending was that they both died and were then reborn into loving, nurturing environments where they grew up to be happy, well-adjusted people who would meet in college and have a healthy relationship. But I do understand the people who saw the less horrible moments and thought, “I wish they could just be happy together”. Because it did feel like these two thoroughly broken people had found a tiny, miniscule amount of happiness and love, even if it was clear it definitely would not last and definitely was not healthy. I get feeling that way.
And actually, the series plays a fairly clever trick on the reader. Just like real life abuse victims have trouble hating and leaving their abusers when those abusers are kind or show a more human side to them, Sangwoo became much harder to hate and dismiss once his traumatic childhood was revealed and he showed some kindness to Bum. It’s like the series was showing us exactly how abuse victims remain attached to their abusers, by making us stay attached to Sangwoo as a character. For the first half of the series I despised him, but the series tricked me into sympathizing with him and even feeling sorry for him and wishing he could be happy. And that. right. there. That’s how abusers get you. I thought it was a very smart way to portray this concept.
I also get that some BL fans DID romanticize and even fetishize the relationship. But, and hear me out please, I don’t think that’s a reason to totally dunk on those fans. Most of the fans who felt that way are probably fairly young, probably naive, probably exploring some dark fantasies for (perhaps) the first time in their lives. I think most people have something that introduced them to darker fantasies (rape fantasies, violent kinks, etc.). When you’re young, these are pretty thrilling to think about, and as long as you limit this exploration to works of fiction, it’s a safe way to dig into these fantasies. For most people, they grow out of them. The thrill wears off as they get older or they become mature enough to realize how horrible and scary those situations would be in real life. Some people keep those kinds of kinks all their lives, and as long as they limit it to fantasy and fiction, or consensual situations, that’s fine. But we need to understand that Killing Stalking, just by nature of having a very attractive character like Sangwoo, is going to be that piece of media that introduces a lot of younger people to those darker fantasies. And it’s not necessarily a terrible thing to let them safely explore those fantasies with this story. Because the story doesn’t encourage it. It doesn’t paint a rosey picture of this kind of relationship. It’s horrifying and ends in tragedy and trauma for everyone involved.
My “thing” that introduced me to darker fantasies was a movie called Boxing Helena, which I watched when I was most definitely too young. For those who haven’t seen it, it actually shares some themes with Killing Stalking (involving a sexy but psychotic man who had lots of issues relating to his mother and keeps a woman captive in his home, partly because she reminds him of his mother, and does horrible things to her - there’s even a scene where he brings another woman home and has sex with her while the captive woman is forced to watch through a cracked door. Sounds familiar, right?). It felt dark and dangerous and taboo, because it was also horrific. But it was exciting. Of course, I grew out of things like that, but it would have been absolutely no help to have a ton of people screaming at me that I was a sick pervert for finding the psycho guy hot (I mean it was Julian Sands in the 90’s, can you really blame me?).
If you come across younger fans who think Killing Stalking was sexy and say dumb things like, “I’d like to be in Sangwoo’s basement!” (actual comment I saw), don’t immediately harp on them and make them feel bad. They’re just exploring their own fantasies. It would be much more helpful to calmly and patiently talk to them and point out that it’s okay to like this stuff in fiction, but to be very careful about how they explore these feelings in reality. I’d be willing to bet that the vast majority of these people are just virginal teenagers who would never in a million years get involved in a dangerous relationship. So let’s cut them a little slack.
Note: When I refer to younger fans, I’m thinking 18-20 or so, and of course the younger teens who are going to read this whether we want them to or not. I am in no way suggesting that we should encourage younger people to read it. Just that, if you come across a younger person who has already read it, yelling insults at them over their naive opinions on it isn’t going to be helpful to anyone.
Anyway, that’s all I have to say about it for now. I just felt very strongly about it and felt like sharing.

Note
What if s/o ended up rejecting their marriage proposal? Not because there was someone else but instead from not being ready to commit. Maybe since they're still young and s/o doesn't want to hold them back from other opportunities now that the war is over? (whatever house or characters are fine! Thank you~)
[As someone with their own skepticism towards marriage, I can totally see this happening tbh. Those precious babies have basically spent their entire lives up until that point either battling in school or fighting a war, so a few years of me-time are definitely owed to them]- I’ll do BL for this since they were my first run. Hope you like it!
Dimitri:
Let’s get one thing straight. Dimitri is ready to marry you and become your partner for life. The moment he popped out that ring he laid himself bare to you. He’s yours, and wants you to be his.
Upon rejection he’ll be hurt, but he also won’t fight you. It is your decision how to spend the rest of your days after the war. By Sothis you’ve earned that right at least after everything that’s happened.
It’s when you bring up the “holding him back,” issue where he’ll rebuttal. That familiar glint of distress will bypass him at the words. You could never. Hell, your presence alone shrouds his world in light and he makes sure that you know it before going your separate ways. Be it through a sweet kiss, or words of affirmation; he’ll do it all.
“My beloved...I will wait for you. I will always be waiting for you”
He’s already lost so much, but he won’t lose you. He’ll wait as long as you need to feel comfortable.
He keeps the ring safe at all times in a pocket sewn into his cloak
From then on he won’t bring up marriage again until you do first. And when is happens? Get ready for him to whip out that bad boi all over again
 Ashe:
For once he isn’t a stuttering mess. This is supposed to be a happy moment...so why aren’t you smiling?
He came into the goddess tower entirely prepared for rejection, but that didn’t make it hurt any less
Well, until you elaborated further. Ashe may be awkward but he is no fool. He knows where you’re coming from, and is happy you’re sharing how you feel.
“If you want to wait, then we can wait,” would be his immediate response. He’d extend his arms out for a hug and wait for your initiative to respect your boundaries. If you accept he’s over the moon
Going slow doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen. This is a chance to treat you like the goddess you are in his eyes. From then on he’s sure to properly court you like he would have done if the war never happened
Dates, flowers, strolls in the woods, etc. He puts his knowledge of romance novels to use
One day you both will be wed, but for now he’ll appreciate the little things you do together. As long as you love each other then that’s what counts
Felix:
The main reason he popped the question is because a life without you is one that he doesn’t want to live
I won’t sugarcoat this. When you reject him he gets upset. The goal of this was to ensure you’ll be in each others lives...but now what? Are you saying that he’s not good enough to share your life with?
He doesn’t say anything when you reject him(which is what scares you the most)
All you can glimpse is how his eyes glaze over, and that familiar scowl paint his lips
Felix storms off immediately to go let off steam before he says something he’ll regret
Leaves so fast that he drops the ring.
Panics later when he can’t find it, searches for two days, and naturally concludes that you were the one to pick it up after asking around
You’re the one to approach him to return it. Naturally, as Felix does, he gets snappy
“I don’t need your pity,” he says. It takes everything out of you to get him to listen beyond the rejection. Upon hearing that you just want to wait he calms down.
He tries to play off his stubborn behavior but you see through it, just like you always have. You’ll still take him after that childish display, right?...right?
Dedue:
Dedue is...discouraged. Who wouldn’t be after being rejected?
It doesn’t show much though. He’s the type to kind of nestle those personal feelings down until no one is around
Hope still remains though. Just as with the others, he knows that waiting does not mean forever. For now he will stay by his highness’ side while you take the time to find your place in the world
Dimitri actually takes the news harder than Dedue. He was certain that you to were going to be wed, and that Dedue would finally have the peaceful life he deserved
After explaining the situation thoroughly he is happy for you both, and even offers to give Dedue as much time as he wants off to spend with you
You both still go see the flowers of Duscur together, just as planned. That time is a memory he holds precious to his heart, and it made him come to realize how nice slowly learning about each other can be
While not often, when you both take excursions together your bonds do grow. He loves when you share stories of the places you visit, and in turn learning more about you as a person.
Sylvain:
He’s been there and done that with commitment insecurities
By far the most understanding of your situation out of all the lions. He’s lived with the fear that people would want him only for his crest his whole life. In all honestly, he’s relieved that you’re one to take things slow
There isn’t even a misunderstanding between you two. He waits till you’re entirely done talking to digest your answer.
Hey, it’s better than flat rejection <~{Sylvain’s thought process}
“So...this means there’s still a chance?Yes!” his enthusiasm after being told no shocks you to the core
He’ll respect your wishes always. If you feel that you need time to find yourself before committing to him then he wouldn’t dream of stopping you
When you are ready to spend your lives together he will happily go flaunt to all his friends that he’s a taken man. That’s just his style.
Each and every day you spend together only makes him want to marry you more. When the time is right he will do everything in his power to ensure that you don’t regret having him at your side.
 Ingrid:
After the loss of Glenn her heart is fragile, but not glass
She will be happy in all honesty. As long as you both care about each other then she could care less about putting a label on it
It’s just that her family says otherwise, you know? She’s going to have to produce an heir at some point
But hey...some point doesn’t have to be now. She may be a knight by title but that doesn’t mean her dream ends here
While you’re off exploring the vast horizons of the world she’ll be off doing what she believes is right. From stabilizing the Galetea household, to aiding in the renovation for Faerghus. Just because the war is over doesn’t mean her job is
When you both do decide to settle down she’ll be genuinely happy. It will be when you both take time for yourselves, and can maybe not almost get killed every day
Annette:
Annette will probably shed a few tears post-confession, so be prepared. These are tears of happiness though. You do care about her, and you do want to stay with her even if it is not how she pictured it
It may not be a proposal, but maybe one day???
“R-really? You mean it?” She’d say when you assure her that you share her feelings, but want to take things slow
She might playfully slap you when you express your views of holding her back
Yes she has potential but so do you. Never EVER think that she wants anyone else, or that she views you as baggage
No matter where you go, what you do, or whatever happens in the world: Annette will always be in contact. She’ll send letters if you’re far, visit if you’re near, and don’t you ever forget it.
“Hello! I hope that you’re safe and eating well! I miss you so much-” Most letters start like this. She’s a worry-wart.
Mercedes:
Mercedes is a well-rounded person. Due to this she’ll most likely know how you feel before you even say anything. It’s a gift I tell you
Out of all the Lion’s she’ll be the one to suggest a courtship and time apart instead of you. She doesn’t expect a proposal, but will still express her feelings
She has her own goals to fulfill now that the main fighting is over. While she’s in good health she wants to help people, so it doesn’t rub her wrong if you want to leave
“Promise me to take care of yourself, okay” despite this she will always worry
A proper courtship is in order for you two. She’ll bake you sweets, and you’ll prep the tea. When you both have downtime it’s like magic. Nothing beats getting to know each other without tomorrow’s battle hanging over your heads
Just...don’t entirely leave. Even if you both are waiting it’s important to ensure each other feels validated. That goes for all relationships, not just yours with Mercedes

You’ve been on edge for a while now. It’s almost been a month since Emerald came, and things have been relatively calm.
You’re not even sure why you’re so antsy. Maybe it’s the hormones.
Yixing and Junmyeon has been checking up on you regularly. Your human friends have also made sure to cook up well-balanced and healthy meals for you and the baby.
And Baekhyun...Baekhyun has been so gentle lately. His eyes aren’t as sharp, his tone not as cold. He hasn’t been doing it as often, but when he kisses you he would cup your cheeks softly and hold you close.
So why?
Why do you feel like your insides are tearing apart, why can’t you sit still for even a moment?
You’ve wondered if you should talk to Jongdae’s Pet about these feelings, but she looks so happy right now, so in love that you can’t bear to bring her down to wallow in sorrow with you.
Hui is the same. Sometimes it feels like it’s just you and the baby in this world.
At least you have the baby.
But that’s stupid, isn’t it? So many people are caring for you, Baekhyun has been so lovely. You should be happy. You should.
You want to be happy.
But you feel miserable.
You’re not allowed to do anything anymore. You were quite restricted back before you were pregnant, but when he was asleep or away you could at least do whatever you wanted.
Now you can’t even do that, since your body is so weak to begin with. You feel so trapped, and somehow feel so lonely even though you shouldn’t.
Sometimes Emerald smiles at you.
You would bump into her in the hallway, around the corner, in the living room. Sometimes you would see her coming out of Baekhyun’s room with a bandage on her neck. She would smile at you kindly, the corners of her eyes thinning like an almond.
You would smile back and might even exchange a few words with her but each time all you can think of is how Baekhyun tended to her wounds.
Even though he never did that to you.
You brought it up to him one day, lying in his bed and reveling in his scent. “Baekhyun, are you the one that bandages Emerald’s neck?”
“Hm?” He comes over from whatever he was doing, sitting down beside you and brushing hair out of your eyes so gently—so gently. “Yes, what of it?”
And your smile would disappear and the love in your heart grows cold and the lump in your throat becomes harder to swallow. “Ah, no, it’s nothing.”
He frowns in that cute way, almost like a pout and he leans down to press a kiss to your cheek. “I do it only because I thought you wouldn’t like to see the wound. Plus, it would be troublesome if it gets infected.”
Right. Yes, of course.
Though he never cared about that when he did it with you.
And you would get so annoyed at yourself for these petty bouts of jealousy. You agreed to this yourself—you should never forget that. Baekhyun does this because he cares about you, and Emerald is here only to help you.
You dig your nails into your palms and force yourself to breathe deeply. You would force down toxic tears and berate yourself over this.
You hate yourself so much sometimes you wish you’d just die.
Maybe if Baekhyun had killed you earlier you wouldn’t feel this way. None of this would happen, no one will suffer.
Ah, no.
You’re the only one suffering anyways.
And sometimes you really think about it. Really wonder what would happen if you just died right now. The baby will not exist, just like Baekhyun wants. You would not suffer anymore.
And Baekhyun? What would Baekhyun think, how will he react?
But then you’d feel a wave of nausea hit you and you’re reminded that you have a child. You’re carrying a precious life inside you, a miracle that Baekhyun gave you. All hateful thoughts would leave you and you would gently rub your tummy, apologizing for those thoughts and promising it’ll never happen again.
You want to live.
For the baby.
For Baekhyun.
You decide it’s better to just talk to him. Maybe if you tell him all your insecurities, he would comfort you and you would feel better, like nothing was ever wrong. You knock on his door, listening to his footsteps.
“Thorn?” He greets you with a smile, ushering you inside. “Did you need something?”
You take a deep breath, gathering your courage, swallowing your fears. “C-Can I tell you something?”
“Yes, of course.” He furrows his brows, sensing your anxiousness. He takes your hand in his, giving it a comforting squeeze. “Is something wrong?”
“I—” It’s hard to say it, but you force it out. “I don’t like Emerald.”
There’s a heavy silence that falls after that. Hearing it yourself, you wonder just how awful you are. What a terrible person, to dislike someone even though they’re here just to help you.
“Did she do anything to you?” Baekhyun looks concerned, his eyes narrowing as if he’d kill her if you just gave the signal.
You look down gingerly. “...No.”
His eyebrows tick, and he looks confused now. “Then why?”
“I-I don’t know. I just...I just don’t like her...I—”
Baekhyun would understand, he—
“What are you saying?”
His icy tone shocks you. It’s something you haven’t heard in so long, and definitely not aimed towards you. He lets go of your hand, letting it drop. He looks at you with such...disappointment, with anger and annoyance.
You tremble, feeling your veins go cold. “I—I—”
“You don’t have a reason to dislike her at all. If you say she had done something bad to you, I would remove her at once. But she didn’t, right?” His tone grows angrier and angrier with each syllable, leaving you cowering. “So how could you say that? Even though she’s done so much for you? Sacrificing her blood for you? You agreed to this, remember?”
“I know!” You burst out, tears blurring your sight. “I know it’s stupid and petty. I can’t help feeling this way, Baek. I just...I feel so insecure and—”
“I’ve given you no reason to feel that way.” He snaps. “I’m doing this all for you. You don’t trust me, right?”
“I do!” You scream, burying your face in your palms as you begin to sob. “I do, I really do. I just...I don’t know why either. I don’t know.”
“Don’t think you can do anything you want just by crying. Get out and clear your head. Then we’ll talk.”
It’s clear now that Baekhyun doesn’t understand.
He doesn’t understand at all.
You storm out of his room, falling onto the hallway floor in a crying mess. Surely the whole house can hear you, especially with a vampire’s enhanced hearing.
And yet,
the one that comes to you,
is her.
“Thorn? Miss, are you alright?” Her voice is so kind, so soft. Her touch is warm. Her eyes are so beautiful even when she looks concerned.
Why did it have to be her?
“I-I’m fine.” You say, trying to control your sobs. You wipe furiously at your eyes and cheeks, so humiliated for her to see you like this. “Don’t worry about me.”
“Did you perhaps get into a fight with Baekhyun?” Please, please don’t say his name. “Sometimes pregnant women get more emotional than they normally would. Don’t worry, I’ll talk to Baekhyun and I’m sure everything will be fine in a bit.”
Why must she talk to Baekhyun? Who is she to try and mitigate your relationship? She’s no one! Just an outsider!
You grit your teeth and manage a smile. “...Thank you. I’ll...I’ll go back to my room now.”
You fall onto your bed, bringing the sheets to your face. You breathe in deeply and then exhale, trying to calm yourself. It’s okay, you tell yourself, it’s okay.
It’s not okay.
But thank goodness the tears have stopped now. You’re so tired, you haven’t cried like that in a while. You wonder if the baby is alright; surely it’s not good for the baby to cry like this.
You rub your stomach again, wanting to get any sort of comfort.
“Sorry,” you whisper, voice trembling, “I’m so sorry mommy is so pathetic.”
You wallow in your sorrow for a bit longer, counting the seconds to clear your head.
Maybe you should try again. This time you’ll choose your words more carefully. You’ll explain your feelings more first. Surely he will understand you after that.
You hate feeling like this, but you hate fighting with Baekhyun more. You don’t want to be hated; that’s scarier than dying.
You pick yourself up, staggering towards the door. One more time. Just once more and surely he will understand. Baekhyun can’t be that mad at you, right?
You make your way to his door, taking a deep breath before you swing it open.
Oh no.
Oh no. Oh no.
You should’ve knocked. You should’ve stayed in your room.
You see Baekhyun on top of Emerald, his mouth against her neck, her blouse unbuttoned and hanging off her frame loosely. Ah, he’s just feeding, isn’t he? This is normal, isn’t it?
You feel your very bones shake, you feel yourself swaying on your feet and another wave of nausea hits you. He barely even notices your presence until Emerald notices you.
You feel sick. You feel like dying. You feel angry and hurt and guilty.
Ah.
Ah.
This feels familiar.
But worse.
You turn away and run down the stairs.
“Thorn!” You can hear Emerald’s beautiful voice chase after you, and then Baekhyun’s. But you don’t register anything, don’t understand anything even as your legs go numb and you trip over yourself and feel gravity against you and—
Everything’s spinning.
You hug your stomach. My baby...I’m so sorry...
It’s better this way, isn’t it?
No pain comes. Someone is holding you. Is it Baekhyun? Has he caught you, forgiven you?
When you open your eyes, it’s not Baekhyun.
It’s Sehun.
He holds you carefully in his arms, a look of concern etched in his handsome face. It seems he’s been saving you and helping you a lot recently.
“Thorn!” Baekhyun appears at the bottom of the stairs, eyes blown wide with panic. He frets over you, hovering like a mother bird. “Are you alright? Are you hurt?”
“I...I...” You’re still shaking so hard. The image just now is burned permanently in your mind, and now as you look at Baekhyun, all you can see is him buried against Emerald’s neck. You curl up against Sehun like a scared animal, clutching at his shirt like he’s your only lifeline. “Please, please, Sehun.” Help me, please.
Sehun hesitates, and then Baekhyun says coldly, “Hand her to me, Sehun.”
No...please...no...I don’t...I don’t want to see him, I don’t want to be with him right now...You clutch onto his shirt tighter, a silent plea.
“I’ll...I’ll take her to her room. Don’t worry, hyung.”
You feel Sehun hurry up the steps, much quicker than a normal human. And then you hear Baekhyun stomping after him, roaring for him to stop. He’s going to catch up soon, please Sehun, please hurry.
Sehun finally reaches your room and slams the door shut behind him just as Baekhyun catches up, banging against the door like a madman. “Sehun! Dammit you asshole open up!”
Sehun lets you down gently, his back pressed hard against the door to keep Baekhyun from coming in. “Do you want to talk to him?”
You shake your head vigorously, begging him no. Sehun looks at you for a moment, then nods. He’s out the door before you can even blink, and Baekhyun’s banging ceases. You press your ear against the door, hearing them speak.
“She doesn’t want to see you right now, hyung.”
“What?” Baekhyun sounds so furious, it feels like the very wood of the door will shatter from his rage. “Don’t be ridiculous. Let me in. I need to talk to her.”
“No.” Sehun says firmly. Bless him. “Not now, hyung. Please, just let her calm down. She was trembling and crying so hard. Let her rest.”
There’s silence for a moment before Baekhyun huffs in defeat, and their footsteps retreat.
You curl up on the floor, pressing your knees against your chest. Everything is going wrong and it’s all your fault.
It’s
all
your
fault.

Ok, so. I've just finished watching the cdrama My Roomate is a Detective and I wanted to share some thoughts I've had for a while. If you haven't seen it, read on at your own discretion. I'll focus on the relationship between the three main characters, so I'm gonna mention some specific scenes, but I'll put a warning if I talk about one of them in detail (both at the beginning and at the end).
I find quite interesting the way their relationship and its dynamic was handled, but I honestly also found it confusing at times in a way. What I mean is, it was kinda obvious since the beginning what the romantic pair was going to be (because of the usual storytelling that makes it almost certain that if there are a male and female lead they'll end up together), but still I feel like first of all they focused on building the friendship between these three. It's great to see honestly, instead of seeing how from the exact first moment the male and female lead meet there's romance or the shadow of it.
I feel like Lu Yao and Bai Youning's relationship (like my sister kindly pointed out) was treated more like a siblings' relationship: they tend to bicker most of the time, getting physical too, and only saying to each others' faces how annoying the other one is, but actually caring and worrying about each other. That's how it is most of the time, except for some more serious moments in which it becomes clear that they're going to become a couple. (Honestly, I need to think some more about their dinamics, because there are some things, particularly in the later part, that leave me a bit hesitant) But the thing is: they don't get a lot of those clicheé romantic scenes. They do have bonding moments, for example when they talk about their past, or drink together or things like that, but there aren't any stereotypical romantic tropes. And here comes the confusing part, because you know where you can notice them instead? In Lu Yao and Qiao Chusheng's relationship. I did stop to wonder whether I was just looking for a way to see a m/m relationship, also because half of the cdramas I've seen are based on bl novels, but I wasn't. There are quite a number of scenes that are usually played by het couples, (the closeness, casual touches, that whole romantic dinner...) and I felt like their chemistry/dinamics were more on a flirty level let's say, above all on Qiao Chusheng's part. I don't know honestly, maybe it's just his face, but that smile he gave Lu Yao sometimes did look kinda flirty. Then there's the way he dotes on him, and actually protects him no matter the cost (but so does Bai Youning later on). This doesn’t mean that it has to go past the point of friendship, because there are friends that flirt jokingly or buy each other stuff out of the blue (I wish I could do it) etc, but I think it’s interesting that they gave them these kind of scenes. And let me talk a little about that romantic dinner because it's ridiculous:
*SPOILER FOR EP 15*
Qiao Chusheng brought Lu Yao to a restaurant whose main target is made up of couples, paid a violinist, bought him an expensive gift and insisted on putting it on him himself (and tell me if the shot in which he is putting the watch on Lu Yao doesn't look like those scenes in which the main lead puts a ring on the female lead's finger) and then acts confused when Lu Yao is embarassed?? And then Lu Yao's friend passes by them and basically gives them thumbs up? I mean...
*SAFE TO READ AGAIN*
I feel like Lu Yao on his part is a little more oblivious in a way. It's true that he was the one to joke about being Qiao Chusheng's boyfriend that one time, but for most of the time he looks more passive let's say, meaning that he doesn't do much, he takes more than give. And maybe it's bound to his own personality, the way he starts off being self centered and selfish and saying it clearly, (And I could talk about how through the show he starts caring about his two new friends, do we wanna talk about how he says he can't leave Shanghai because he has two people he has to look after?)
However, even through the differences, the super interesting and quite refreshing thing for me is that these two relationships were put on the same plane. Maybe it's just that I'm used to the idea of romantic relationships as The Ultimate Relationships, meaning that they're the highest level of relationships and are on a sort of pedestal in relation to friendships. There's a clear distinction between the two. It's like there's a sort of hierarchy, and your romantic partner (singular because I think it's something more tied to monogamy and the whole idea of your lifelong love) is at the top, while your friends are a little lower. Which for some people works just fine, I'd lie if I said that I don't consider my relationships at different levels. But the point here is that I feel like the way it is portrayed usually is that once you get a romantic partner things change abruptly, and the division between your romantic relationship and your other ones is obvious. And it must be like that.
In this show instead it's different.
To sum up a little: Lu Yao's relationship with Bai Youning is built more like a siblings' relationship, but it's directed towards a romantic relationship; between Lu Yao and Qiao Chusheng there is a flirtier vibe let's say, with more stereotypical romantic details, but going forward it's in theory just the relationship between two best buddies/brothers. But still, no matter how they're built, it's never shown as if one of these relationships is more important than the other one, and once the romance starts, friendship ends.
I think there are some moments in which it is said in a more direct way:
*SPOILER FOR EPS 21-22, 31-32, 34 and last 2 eps*
-the one I mentioned before, before Lu Yao almost gets kidnapped. Jiang Zhiqing asks him whether he wants to stay in Shanghai because of somebody and he says there are two people he can't leave, not only one. I was honestly surprised because I feel like normally a moment like this would have been used to build on the main romantic relationship, showing how the main lead actually feels deeply for his love interest. Instead they used it to state how both Qiao Chusheng and Bai Youning have become greatly important to Lu Yao.
-the second moment is when in ep 32 (or 31?) they are in the hospital and when the nurse asks Bai Youning and Qiao Chusheng who between them is Lu Yao's family they answer at the same time that they are.
After that there's the first distinction in the two relationships because Bai Youning says she is Lu Yao's wife. And there's also a greater focus on their romantic relationship. But it still isn't portayed as being more important than their friendship with Qiao Chusheng, there isn't a "Oh well, now we are together so let's forget him". (Even from the point of view of production, he doesn't just disappear as a character, I'm thinking about the way there's a lot of shots of his expressions during the wedding and when Lu Yao and Bai Youning leave)
+ I loved when Qiao Chusheng says that he'll probably have to be a full time gangster again because of the tension with the British, and they immediately ask him where he wants to move to and basically offer him an alternative choice when he's just stated that sometimes you can't choose.
*SAFE TO READ*
So look. The thing is that I find their trio quite interesting, I love their dinamics, and the way they are built in quite a complex and sometimes ambiguos way. I think these three work pretty well together.
I know this is probably going to sound like a contradiction to what I said about how I like the way they put the two relationships on the same plane even if they're different etc. But because of the way said relationships are built throughout the show, I feel like these three could also either stay all friends or be in a poly relationship. Even though in this last case it'd be more like "Lu Yao gets both a boyfriend and a girlfriend who are ready 24/7 to threathen people on his behalf and actually act on it", because I feel like between Qiao Chusheng and Bai Youning things really do stop at friendship, maybe also because it is stated from the beginning that Bai Youning is like a younger sister to Qiao Chusheng. Or maybe like I said they all stay friends and that's it.
[Sorry if it got this long, I don't even know how it is possible. I hope what I wrote makes sense and I haven't been analysing all these things in a completely wrong way. I am open to talking about it politely. And if I've said anything ignorant or offensive or senseless from a cultural point of view, please do tell me. Thank you if you've got this far, wish you a great day and more!]

Hi! I want to have comprehensive list of the BL manga/manhwa etc. that I’ve read because I want to spread the love for this genre 💜.  This post is a list of works that I’ve read which is not in this page yet + my comments on each work. I hope some people will find something that they like here ^__^
🐣 All BL recs from me
manhwa  🐓
💜 Never Understand
Yuri, one of the school's most handsome guys, and Jaerim, one of the school's ugliest, collide!...or don't they? Can't understand what's going on between these two! It's Out of Control!
shounen-ai, completed, 87 chapters
Tumblr media
THE STORY IS SOOOO GOOD. The art also improved by a lot upon reaching the later chapters. Jae-rim is dubbed as “ugly” (he’s a whole cutie tho) and I’m glad to see a non conventional character design for an MC! I highly recommend reading this!!  👌💯
Incorrigible
A sequel to “Never Understand” which is focused on Cho Ayeon’s story after being free from Soyeon’s control.
yaoi, completed, 8 chapters
Tumblr media
This has few chapters so maybe that explains the fast pacing. Nonetheless, it was a nice read, I have a really soft spot for Jae-rim so seeing his r-18 experiences with Yuri really got me ahkdjashdkajshd ;W;
💜 Dirty Vibrations
Best friends Yeong and Nohae thought it was a joke when they downloaded the infamous “cursed” app. It’s said to command the user to perform…sexual acts and punishes those who disobey or delete it. It started with making them kiss. When they disobeyed its order…the punishment was anything but a joke.
yaoi, ongoing
Tumblr media
This one is from Fujoking (author of Youjin)! In all honesty, I love this for its sex scenes. They are so well made, the art, the dialogue, the expressions, and just *chef’s kiss* 👌. When it comes to expressing sexual scenes in BL, my top authors would have to be Fujoking for manhwa and Zaria for manga.
💜 Paid
Executive director Heejae is nicknamed "Chaebol Prince" by the public. But his life is turned upside down when documents linking him to an embezzlement scheme are unexpectedly found by an accounting collegian Taekyung! So he pretends to have a crush on him, but.. Taekyung wants more than just flirting!
yaoi, ongoing
Tumblr media
This is another one from Fujoking! This has a heavier plot as compared to Dirty Vibrations, so you get amazing smut AND an engaging story!
💜 On or Off
Yiyoung is building a startup with his college friends. They get a chance to present their proposal to SJ Corporation, one of the leading companies in the country. But in the meeting room he sees Kang Daehyung, the extremely handsome company big shot that's so very much his type, and Yiyoung's heart starts to race...! Can pretty-faced Yiyoung win both in love and his career?
yaoi, ongoing
Tumblr media
Okay this! It’s really funny and the pacing is nice and the characters are nice and the art is nice and the perfect mix of romance comedy and slice of life i just HUHDADKAJDHJK it’s rly a feel good read and both MCs are SO ATTRACTIVE.
Penthouse XXX
Siyeon, a contract killer, has declared a boycott on men after being screwed over by his ex. That is, until he moves into a penthouse owned by Taekyung, a rich heir with killer looks.
yaoi, completed, 49 chapters
Tumblr media
It has meme worthy illustrations xD. The graphics are nice but I found Taekyung (one of the MCs) to be a little toxic. Also, some parts of the story were not wrapped up/discussed enough imo. But overall, it was a pleasant read.
Home Sweet Home
The last thing Jungyeon expected was for his mom to ask if she could remarry. The new man was kind, considerate, a perfect match for his mother but there’s a catch: he has a younger son. Sunwoo is an introvert. He’s shy and has trouble opening up to others, until he meets Jungyeon and finds himself opening up for the first time. As their parents get closer to marrying, they become close, too close, and that’s when Sunwoo learns Jungyeon is already seeing another man.
yaoi, completed, 57 chapters
Tumblr media
I honestly don’t know why this has quite a low rating on mangago because I found it to be a good read! It’s like sitting through a romance-drama movie. I liked the ending and the relationship between the main couple.
K’s Secret
Employee Kim Doyoon has been working for 5 years. He has one secret that he can't tell anyone else - the fact that he's a half-vampire born between a human and a vampire.
yaoi, ongoing
Tumblr media
The art is so good in the recent chapters ugh. Also the sex scenes are well made. The plot is a little unclear though, and I feel like the relationship of the two MCs are kinda forced and unnatural hahaskdhakjdh. Still reading it tho since it’s ongoing.
💜 I have a Boyfriend
Kang Hyeon Ho, who belongs in the university soccer team goes into a breadth class and encounters the person he went to middle school together with and was his first love, Han Gyeol.
yaoi, completed, 44 chapters
Tumblr media
THIS IS BASICALLY COLLEGE AU ROM COM ADDITIONAL TAG: FIRST LOVE AND IT’S AMAZING. Just a really well rounded story with the right amount of drama to bring out its slice of life  😭💘 Also, this is tagged as yaoi but the sex scenes were few and not that explicit.
💜 Voice of Love
After experiencing a traumatic incident involving a previous lover, Jiho is too afraid to tell his classmate Soohan that he likes him. Thankfully, Soohan can hear otherpeople's thoughts and asks him out first. But, as we all know, love isn't always that easy. Will Jiho and Soohan really get their happily ever after?
shounen-ai, completed, 37 chapters
Tumblr media
Just a really cute story about mind reading and high school boys being in love. Ah, youth. This will make you feel good like ,,, awww young love :( <3
Base to Base
The elite Sung Moon High is fields one the country's top 5 high school baseball teams. Kim Soohyun was the ace pitcher of his middle school now started his first year at Moon high baseball team...since his beloved sunbae Choi Woojin(captain/catcher) is there....Kim Soohyun is an cutie puppy with stalker tendency exclusive for his beloved sunbae.
shounen-ai, completed, 28 chapters
Tumblr media
Sports manga/anime always had a little (or lots) of gay, well this one made it officially gay! A cute rom-com bUT I feel like the ending was rushed. I would have loved it if there was more, but nonetheless, a good read! :)
manga  🐓
💜 I Seriously Can’t Believe You
"I don't think you've realized your true nature yet." That's what Kon tells Iida, the hottest guy at school, wondering how anyone could be so proper. As popular as he is, Iida doesn't seem interested in any of the girls who come after him. Kon and his buddies try to look into the matter by flipping a coin and having Kon approach him with his confession of love, just to see if he's really interested in guys. "I've... never looked at guys like that..." says Iida, falling for Kon's ruse. Kon takes him home, hoping to straighten out the misunderstanding, when Iida suddenly grabs him by the shoulder, and... A story about a mysterious hottie at school and a prince of a certain kind.
yaoi, completed, 5 chapters
Tumblr media
THIS IS FUNNY AND CUTE AND HOT AND SHORT BUT REALLY GOOD JUST READ IT YOU WONT REGRET IT!
💜 Yoru to Asa no Uta
(Chapter 0) ; (Sequel)
Asaichi can't play any instruments, his voice is average, and he's only in the band for the girls and the sex. Plus, he's homophobic. For some reason, the new bassist is infatuated with him despite the treatment Asaichi gives him.
yaoi, completed, 1 + 8 + 8  = 16 chapters
Tumblr media
It’s by Harada (author of ‘Yatamomo’ and ‘Color Recipe’) so expect dark themes. Trigger warning for rape. I suggest you skip the rape if you can’t handle it because this manga is so good. Its art and story (much like Harada’s other works) will really suck you in. This left a deep impression on me because the characters felt so alive. I respect Harada so much for that ability.
💜 Eigyou Nika!
Sakisaka, stationed in the second Sales Division, has an unrequited love for Toujou, his directing senpai. He had no intention of confessing his feelings. However, Toujou has been awfully touchy-feely lately… Is there a glimmer of hope? Please don’t let it be a misunderstanding! Which path will these vexing feelings flow down to?
yaoi, completed, 10 chapters
Tumblr media
I had fun reading this because it’s so fluffy!! aaaAAAA I love friends to lovers and cuddling and the sweetness that comes from a relationship that is a more than friendship but less than lovers. A lighthearted read <3
💜 Mou Ichido, Nando Demo
On his way home from picking up a rings for himself and his lover, Fuji Takahiro is hit by a car. His resulting amnesia degrades his live-in lover Kotou Tarou to a mere flatmate, and a series of misunderstandings threatens to tear the couple apart. Tossed around by desperation and confusion, can Tarou and Takahiro rebuild their once blissful relationship?
yaoi, completed, 11 chapters
Tumblr media
This is like watching a really good mature drama. The characters feel real and the situations presented in the manga were also something one can easily imagine themselves being put into. A short and good read.
💜Ookami-kun wa Kowakunai
The world is filled with animals that can evolve into beastmen. There is a young and earnest wolf who was always mistaken for a showy person because of his flashy looks. The easily mistaken wolf has fallen for an attractive looking rabbit named Usami, who is cautious of carnivores.
yaoi, completed, 6 chapters
Tumblr media
I mEAN,,, LOOK AT THEM!!! This is wholesome and very fluffy huhuhuhu no more words needed. A short and cute read! <3
💜Ookami He No Yomeiri
Kaede is a rabbit person chosen to be the 'bride' of a distinguished wolf family. Although he does not wish to marry a wolf, his family pleads for him to go so that they can have enough supplies to last for the next two years. However, how will his new husband act towards a little bunny rabbit stuck in the wolf's den?
yaoi, completed, 8 chapters
Tumblr media
The art is good and the story is cute :((( They’re so cute aaaa I’m a sucker for grumpy looking x ray of sunshine it’s just uGH the contrast never gets old.
💜 Encirclement Love
Ryou had a sleepover and saw his friends - Issei and Tadahiro - kissing while they thought he was asleep. He asks them about it and feels betrayed as a childhood friend when they pretend nothing happened. Determined to catch them red-handed, Ryou ends up inside a closet with Issei's little brother - Yuusei -, who has a unexpected reaction to the situation.
yaoi, completed, 6 chapters
Tumblr media
It’s basically four high school boys being horny. All four of them are friends and I find their dynamics really funny. Also, they’re all hOT 🥵 I had lots of fun reading this!
Mother’s Spirit
University employee Ryouichirou is ordered by the Chairman to take in an exchange student. That exchange student, Qaltaqa, is a native from a developing country who can't understand Japanese!! Though he is a warrior of his tribe and a man of great beauty, seeing him afraid of the phone and the TV, and even the toilet, Ryouichirou gets fed up… But while being called "Ryouichirou" in such a clumsy manner, he has a change of heart!?
yaoi, completed, 13 chapters
Tumblr media
This is funny and interesting! A short read to boost your mood and get your yaoi fix ;D
Dakaretai Otoko Ichii Ni Odosarete Imasu
Saijou Takato's 5 year reign as the "Most Huggable No. 1" has been snatched. Stealing his thunder is the newbie actor with a 3-year debut, Azumaya! Towards the stuffy hostile Takato, Azumaya's sincere sparkling smile starts to become effective. Even as Takato sets his alert level on MAX, Azumaya catches Takato in his shameful drunken state and uses it to blackmail him! In exchange for Azumaya's silence, Azumaya states, "Please let me hold you"'?! "Embrace me, who was the Most Huggable No.1? What the heck is he saying!"
yaoi, ongoing
Tumblr media
I remember dropping this because MC was obviously raped, but upon watching the first episode of the anime adaptation, they made the sex consensual (thank God) and the story is not so bad after all. I suggest skipping the first chapter altogether and just start off at episode 1 in the anime, then you can pick it up in the manga to see the explicit scenes xD
That’s it for now! Will continue updating in this tumblr acc. as I continue on reading more BL ehe. Hmu on my twt if u wanna talk about BL and/or anime and manga in general hehe. Love lots~ 💜🐓

UWMA (Series)
Until We Meet Again
Let’s get this post going.
TLDR I hate Korn and In’s fathers, I am excited for Between Us, and that Manaow and Del should’ve been a couple.
Let’s start by me saying that I watched the first few episodes of UWMA back when it just dropped on youtube. But I didn’t continue it because back then I was dealing with my life, and starting an ongoing BL series is not in my priorities. I also have conflicted feelings about BL as a gay man.
Now let me tell you what I’m feeling right now.
I’m currently on the last part of the last episode. I’ve watched the series for a couple of days now so my memory and emotions may not be as raw and recent in this but I still have important takes that I need to get out as to not let it fester in me.
I want to say fuck you to any Father Apologists out there.
I’m just here now straight up voicing this. I’ve encountered a lot of them in the youtube sections and honestly, it was such a disappointing sight to see. Y’all are so quick to say “Oh it’s a different time back then” and easily make excuses for them because “oh they changed eventually. Poor Korn’s father, he lost two sons because of his eldest’ homosexuality.” Like fuck you.
If you are one, might as well fuck off from my post.
Y’all are so easy to forget the things they put Korn and Intouch throughout their life. Disappointing.
Now that that disclaimer is out of the way. Let me just nitpick the entire series.
Pharm is so fucking good. He’s your typical awkward dude and it was just so natural for him. His relationship with Manaow and Team was spectacular. They really feel like they care so much for one another.
Specially Team and Pharm holy shit these two are so precious. I once commented on one of the parts about how in a different world we could’ve had a best friends to lovers slow burn with these two. Imagine Pharm and Team loving one another from afar but could not risk their friendship for an unknown possibility.
Dean sweeps in and courts Pharm, Team tries to be supportive but lowkey jealous. And then Win does the same for Team and Pharm is also lowkey jealous. It would’ve been such a cliche but we will eat it up.
Or at least I do.
Back when I first watched this, I had lowkey been nervous about Del. I really thought she gon be an antagonist but nope. Back then I also lowkey want Del and Manaow to like get together. They have a cute chemistry that could be explored. Would love that to happen.
I had a whole paragraph about the messy family tree issue/non-issue but I just decided to trash that point since its just not really that of a big deal.
Hmmm I don’t know what to say anymore other than I’m very much looking forward to Between Us.
Win and Team was such a delight to watch in the series. I was really confused at how their relationship progressed but I also love how the side characters stories developed without being in front of the camera. It felt organic to see a storyline happen without it taking space from the main couple’s story.
One reccuring emotion that I have whenever the fathers (korn and In’s) were on screen is anger. I don’t think I’ll ever forgive anyone who becomes the reason for a gay kid to kill themselves. They always claim that they are sorry, that they wish they could go back and change, that they will always be ashamed of that part of their life. But what will that do? Garner sympathy from the people around them?
Korn and In died because their families did not support them. The families look rich,  if they were just supportive, they could’ve helped Korn and In navigate through a homophobic society. But no, they decided to be the very first wall to keep these two from being happy. And what was the outcome? their lives were miserable and now they expect me to feel sorry about them? Fuck no, they both deserved their pathetic life and death. I don’t fucking care.
Anywho. toodles!

here’s my one big post about the episode which, spoiler alert, I hated and I will not be giffing for a while
I don’t even know where to start but I’ll try to follow what happens in the episode.
I can’t believe they thought any of this would make sense. First we have Tutor who decides that the best way to make sure Fighter understands they are over is to use his student to make him jealous?
This is so unlike Tutor, I feel like he would not be the one to use people to get back at someone. I think both Tutor and Fighter were written horribly in this episode and this is where it shows that they just needed an excuse to make Fighter mad/jealous to somehow “justify” his actions.
It blows my mind how this scene wasn’t even in the nvel, someone thought it would be a great addition and nobody was against it. I am speechless. I’m still going with my theory that the Fighter we’ve seen so far is a better version of the Fighter they were writing, because that ep. 6 deleted scene proved that the Fighter they had in mind is jealous and possessive and handsy. So I guess for them this kind of behavior makes sense, but for us it doesn’t fit with what we’ve seen of Fighter so far.
I hated every second of the scene. I don’t care if Tutor kisses back, I don’t care if Fighter stops. It’s not consensual, Tutor just laying there destroyed me, it was awful to watch and it went way too far. The struggle in the hallway was so bad, you can clearly tell Tutor is 100% not on board with whatever is going on. Fighter pushing up his shirt was insanely hard to look at, but when he went for his zipper I almost stopped watching completely. The one thing I will comment on is how Fighter stopped because of what Tutor said. He didn’t stop because he was pushed away, he didn’t stop because Tutor said “stop”, he stopped because Tutor asked him if he was satisfied enough, as if he was asking him how much further he intended to go. I think it’s interesting how that’s when Fighter snaps out of it and realizes what he’s doing.
Tutor clearly states at the start of the scene that he is not okay with it, he tries to break free of Fighter’s hold and tries to push him away. When he stops struggling it’s not because he’s okay with it. That is not consent. He stops struggling because he knows it’s pointless. It’s awful to look at the way Fighter kisses down his chest while Tutor just stays still. if you’ve seen the other episodes you know how a consenting Tutor looks like, and it is NOT like this.
I can’t believe they didn’t include a single apology there. Not once does Fighter say I’m sorry. He basically says “I did this because you made me mad” which is victim blaming and it made me so sick. This whole jealousy thing was so pointless, considering that one of the two instances where it happens was cut from the show. From now on I’m going to pretend that the episode starts with Fighter crying on the floor and telling Tutor how long he’s loved him. I am so mad at how things went, because the following conversation was actually good. The flashbacks to their first meeting were great, there were some added shots of Fighter already looking so in love, and I can’t believe it had to happen after that mess. I wish they could have just made Fighter get drunk and go beg Tutor to get back together. It could have worked much better. I can’t believe they thought going this far would be okay or interesting.
Honestly I have no clue what happens after. All I remember is that the next time they see each other they’re acting as if Fighter hadn’t just molested Tutor. A lot of people have noticed as well that there have to be some missing scenes because it makes no sense. Of course Tutor has the bl fever that solves all conflicts, he agrees to let Fighter take care of him which again very unlike Tutor, whose last words to Fighter were get out of my life.
The scene where Tutor is sick and Fighter takes care of him made me SO uncomfortable after part 1. There must have been some missing moments there because I don’t understand it at all. Also it just proves how much Fighter usually cares about consent, he asked Tutor if he was okay with him helping, and he was going to leave once he was done. How is that Fighter the same Fighter from part 1? It might be that he gets like that when he’s drunk (at Hwa’s party was Fighter drunk when he forcefully kissed Tutor? that might be it)
Anyway I know a lot of people found that scene cute but it just doesn’t work for me. Maybe with a buffer scene between the two I could have liked it more. I didn’t. Also not a fan of Fighter looking through Tutor’s phone. And I don’t even want to talk about the ab*se joke at the start of the scene. Who thought that would be a good idea after part 1? Fighter saying to a sick weak Tutor “maybe I’ll take advantage of you” after what he did right before?????????? WHAT THE FUCK.
I really really really liked the scene between Fighter and his father, the dialogue was great. I wish the rest of the episode hadn’t ruined it for me. Zee is incredible. He did such a great job. I don’t have much else to say other than this because I was just so drained.
I’m also not a big fan of Fighter showing up at the beach out of the blue, but the show really wants us to cheer for them to get back together at this point which I do but like. I want an apology which I know I’ll never get. I can’t believe this was brused off as if it was nothing.
I can’t decide if what makes me mad the most is this, how lightly this was treated, with Tor not even asking for an apology, or if it’s the fact that they thought this would be a good idea.
It adds absolutely nothing at all to their relationship dynamic. It adds nothing to the plot, it doesn’t explain anything, it’s completely useless. It’s triggering for some people, it’s disturbing and it’s treated in a way that makes it seem like it wasn’t that bad.
This is it I think, I apologize for the massive amount of typos that I’m sure will be in here but I hate rereading my writing

I am just so disappointed and sad by what I read in a shoujo manga. I couldn’t understand what the characters were saying but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what the author was insinuating.
I thought there was serious homophobia going around in it before but I thought maybe I was overthinking the whole thing. I know I wasn’t I was just trying to make myself feel better.
But now it seems like I was spot on with my observations.
Never thought some shoujo mangakas are going to sink so low as to make a character who seems/is gay try to break up the marriage of the main straight couple. Like seriously, you ran out of all cliché, lame ass bullshit that makes up most of shoujo manga plots that you had to drag a gay character into the mix.
God, just say you hate gay people and get out. No need to make them villain like in your story. Take lessons from Clamp if you really want to write same sex relationships or a lgbt character. Or maybe from the author of Hana Kimi. Because you are doing a shit job of portraying them the way you do. How can anyone even write garbage like this in 2020 and get away with it?
If you don’t know how to write lgbt character just write them out, do not include them. It’s annoying, highly disrespectful and gross.
No wonder many fans of shoujo/shonen are also of mind : same sex relationships can be used for humor or comedic effect. We don’t want any real, serious relationships. We don’t like them.
Why are there so many shonen ai, yaoi, shoujo ai anime? Where are straight fucking anime?
Just shut up! Literally all animes are straight! Are you being willfully blind or stupid? There are so few shonen ai, yaoi anime. What the hell are you on to write such horrendous lies?
Ugh. I am still so disgusted by these comments.
Are writers really that upset because more and more people are liking shonen ai, bl, yaoi manga that they have to resort to these petty, horrible tactics in their manga to insult a genre that badly?
I was of mind to buy the manga because the art was very pretty, but now. No way in hell I want that homophobic trash in my collection. Pretty art will only go so far.
This behavior isn’t even surprising if I am being honest here. I have come across a lot of FM stories/fics which literally use derogatory words, slurs for gay people. And, yes, it’s mostly for MM relationship not FF. There is also apparently selective homophobia going around too. FF is fine, it’s MM which is wrong.
FF is fetishized like anything by straight story writers. It’s just so gross to read the straight guy fantasizing about two females as if they exist to make your gross fantasies true. Eww.
Then you have the real winners, the so called writers who want change, diversity in MM ships by turning one character into a freaking girl.
Just say you want straight sex, tons of babies and the dominant male spouting how much he wants to fuck the OFC and  see her round with his babies or some other cringe worthy dirty talk.
There’s the hard core truth which will never change, the genderbent characters are OFC. They are just self-insert to live your fantasies with the other guy. At least admit the truth.
Harry is a boy and will always be that. No amount of fem harry bullshit will turn him into a girl. Some even have the audacity to give the oc a brother who is exactly like Harry. Just say you hate Harry and same sex relationships and get out.
I sigh every time when I see the crack stories appear in my pairing, HP/TMR, tag. Just be brave and list them as oc fics. They are that and always will be that. Stay deluded forever thinking fem Harry exists. Why are they even part of the real, slash ship tag? Who the fuck is femHarry?
I wouldn’t be surprised if in said shoujo manga the male lead humiliates the seemingly gay character, or makes fun of him or does something equally loathsome. After all he has made his braindead, stupid, completely garbage of a wife cry, insecure. He deserves to be hurt.
The fem lead is just so stupid it’s not even funny. Most people read it because of the handsome guy, that’s the truth. The girl is so weird and dumb that I am surprised someone even came up with her character.
Then again most shoujo heroines don’t have anything between their ears. They are the ultimate Mary sues, doormats, crybabies or bamfs like anything. They share quite many features with the cracky ofc/genderbent females in fics.
Thank God for mangas like Akatsuki no yona! I would lose faith in shoujo genre if it weren’t for such good stories.
Since we are on the topic of bias, let’s talk about that too. I wouldn’t even be surprised if that weird as hell thing happens in that fanfic sequel anime. Straight ships get away with any bullshit, no matter how weird or strange they are.
There would literally be opposition if the same was shown in any same sex relationship.
Giving the example of Twilight to justify yourself, seriously? Bella tried to kill Jacob after she realizes what he has done. It was weird that he had feelings for Bella then all of a sudden his whole world is Bella and Edward’s daughter. Does that not sound strange at all? (VK has same bull. Ai was first after Zero, then became fixated on his daughter who also returns her creepy affections. Zeki and airen are just so bad. I’ll take Zero/Kaname any day.)
I read a very good post once and it may have been a joke post but it was so freakin true. Why didn’t Jacob feel any attraction towards Edward? Why only Bella? Renesmee was part of both of them or am I supposed to think Bella somehow made her on her own?
Not to mention it’s hilarious as hell when one self insert creepy ship tries to tell another self insert ship we are better than you. Nah, you are both trash of different varieties. One is a pedo ship, one is gross as hell. Thinking the only logical choice for someone is that person’s brother’s wife is amazing. They are both garbage ships who shat on every other ship of this disgusting pedophile.
These shippers vile, gross comments are all over deviantart and other sites.
Not to mention the blatant disregard these assholes have for Inu no Taishou’s legally, wedded wife, Izayoi, Inuyasha’s mother. It’s truly shocking how vile people can be. We get it, you hate Touga/Izayoi because you all wanted what these two lovely people had, a marriage full of love and devotion which you all never got.
Lady Izayoi was no ones mistress, Inuyasha was never ever a bastard. Inu no Taishou/Touga married Izayoi, he loved her and his child so much that he died for them.
Die mad insulting them, they will always always be one of the best couple in this series. Pedo ship, sister in law /brother in law ship can only wish they were like them, they will never be like them. They are both vile.
Certified pedo’s mom was either a one night stand, or had friends with benefits relationship with Touga. He didn’t commit any infidelity, he didn’t betray her, he didn’t two time her. Her ass is chilling in her palace and has absolute no animosity towards him. The greatest disservice to her character will be if they were to make her a creepy pedo enabler too. I hope she never shows up.
Mates don’t exist in inuyasha, she was no one’s mate. More likely, youkai have no such things as bastards. Because that’s exactly what the certified pedo would be if that were not the case, Inu no Taishou and inukimi were never ever married.
I just hope they won’t bring back Touga and Izayoi in this disgusting and vile sequel, they are the only two people left in this series who are not goddamn pedo enablers.
No wonder they called the creepy woman, Zero. She is a fucking loser and a jealous bitch. Touga didn’t owe anyone, anything. He and Izayoi were good, happy, couple who loved each other and people can stay mad about it. She is wife, she is his wife, his only wife who he loved so much he died for her and their precious child. Inu no Taishou adored his wife, Izayoi, and their precious child, Inuyasha.
I always thought Touga loved his sons equally and all the trials he put his first son through were so he realises he is wrong about many things. But now, it’s more likely he made as many plans as possible to humiliate him because he knew somewhere in his heart he was gonna turn out to be a fucking bitch.

Thoughts on the 6th eps of 2gether
It may contain spoilers for those who haven’t watched it yet and a bit about the future according to the novel (there is an alert before).
I will talk a lot about things I’m concerned and disappointed.
I will also say things that need to be addressed but I don’t want to have to fear exposing my opinions and that’s why I won’t excuse myself for saying the truth about your favourites in the mids of all the hype this series and the cast is getting.
Let’s star with: I really like the actors, being a series from GMM you always have the feeling everyone is a big family and interacts really well with each other and you can feel imersed in a big group of friends. Therefore, I basically don’t have anything bad to say about the friends of Tine’s and Sarawat’s. Their dynamic is so great; in the begining I didn’t quite fall for the stupidity but got accostumed with how their humor relief is transposed to the audience.
The girls representation: I bloody absolutely hate, hate, hate how they are there just to get fanatic over guys at the university, exept P’Air and Prae so far... The first scene this happens on this episode is when high school girls go to an Architecture tutoring enrolment just to see Ming, Drake’s character, and they are so exagerated it’s pitiful. (I’m making a pause here because you may say that it “always happens on BLs”. But, come on, we are watching a current, a new series that is supposed to be more modern and have a new story and originality, YES we do love watching it, sometimes even because of the clichês, but these girls are degraded to an extend of unbarable sadness it brings me. It is not funny, it is not normal, and we should not just ignore it for the sake of the romance we are all here to watch. Again, on the football field, the girls on the back with signs and almost on verge of tears just by seeing a guy? Ridiculous. The third, and worst time, was with the girl Tine pays to make Sarawat jealous. Because only a girl on shorts and crop tops could be the obvious way to make a guy jealous, right? And jealousy has to involve practically undressing him on a bar shamelessly, right? And then she has to act all overboard when she sees Sarawat and join that comotion of fans, which were just girls, whilst all the boys were seated talking as if nothing was happening on that bar; those weren’t just fans of Sarawat, they were a representation of the stupid massage the series gives to Sarawat’s ego.
Pause again just to mention how  with any crumb of Gunsmile I see, I want more of him being a dork. He’s always there on most shows I watch so I’m very attached to him on my screen. Proceeding...
Just by the end of the first part, with one scene, Ming and Phukong just sold it to me with how great their banter can get, i truly loved and got eager for more of them. The grupy and the pusshy trope really get’s to be very satifying to watch when well acted within it’s limitations. The extend Phukong went to actually get Ming to be his tutor was so tender I just need more of them.
Sarawat is problematic with his pictures of Tine but I’m not talking about that right now, I need more to work on a deeper analises, because consent with this guy is so blurry and don’t get me started with him and his friends deliberately getting Tine drunk.
So we get to Green. Since the first trailer I watched, the whole story just wasn’t appealing at all to me. Green being used as a gay feminine guy to be mocked and run from, to be lied and once again, used as a character that degrades himself for someone, a guy, who would never bat an eye to him, and I’ve NEVER seen anyone actually speak up to what is happening regarding him. The scene on the bathroom is just so heartbreaking because we never get Green the credit of being desired, yes, he still persues Tine, agressively even, and I’m not excusing him, but I wish he was handled in a more positive way. SPOILER ALERT FOR THE NOVEL: When his boyfriend actually gets revealed I’ll be waiting a different and better treatment for the both of them.
Oh Toptap. As Type, his total of 10s of appearence so far make me so mad, even though I don’t have high expectations for his relationship with Mike’s character, Man, I can feel the pining. And, me too, as a fellow pan, fell for him with one glance the first time I saw him. This storyline is great. When Man tries to distract the security to be caught so easily hahaha that’s comedy.
L CO HOL the bar, how did I need someone on twitter to provide the absurdity of how obvious that means?... Loved it.
The whole Scrubb show edit was great, if you listen to them when in love, you can actually fall deeper and I felt that. Also when the camera focused on Tine and Sarawat with a wider shot, there was a girl on the back dancing so nonchalantly and I wanted to be her.
So even though this is the best episode so far, on my opinion, after watching it I can officially say I don’t like at all what I’m watching but I’m the typical person who can't abandon a show once I start, so let’s see how it ends.
