“Eli, is that my jacket?” The leather was fraying around the cuffs. There were new scuffs on the shoulders, the back. Those weren’t there when Derek inherited the jacket. And they absolutely weren’t there when Derek died.

“It’s not like you were using it.” Eli shrugged with loose shoulders. He looked so much like Stiles in that moment; Derek was at a loss for words.

The stench of anger rolled off Eli like tsunami waves. His eyes flashed between beta gold and his human brown. They would have to work on his control. Again.

“If you don’t want me to have your stuff, maybe next time don’t kill yourself.” Derek opened his mouth to say something, anything. All that came out was a little puff of air.

Eli pushed back from the table with a devastating eye roll and walked off.

Derek growled at his retreating form. His own eyes went red as he dropped his head into his hands.

“I got him. Just remember what we talked about, Der-Bear. Not overnight.” Stiles ran his hand along the back of Derek’s neck, gave a quick kiss to his temple, and hurried after Eli.

my seniors have been so quiet all year and it’s been fine cause we’ve had a lot of writing/research to do but I need them to talk to me now so i was hit by a bolt of inspiration two days ago and I made them all tell me their comfort level with sharing aloud, rating themselves on a scale of 1-10. I then averaged the class score and they’re a 4.5. I then told them yesterday we needed to raise the score the tiniest bit. And the 1’s and 2’s didn’t need to be 10’s just maybe 3’s and 4’s. And they tried! They talked more 😭

not sure if everyone else has already figured it out and i'm just slow on the uptake but... remus is probably referencing brain's situation here, right

"but that wouldn't explain those keyblade skills of yours... hm? or would it?" makes me think he's comparing player's sudden appearance to brain's, since brain also kinda fulfills those two points (being a drifter, technically, and being a skilled wielder)

however: assuming that sigurd is one of the founders (whatever that entails), the line "otherwise the founders would be here" likely means that if player were in a similar situation to brain's i.e being from the past, they'd be here to pick them up like sigurd did, but clearly they're not. the clothes comment could also be talking about how brain showed up looking exactly as he did in his normal clothes, but player showed up in clothing more typical of scala ad caelum residents, thus throwing them even further off the trail of possibly-maybe being from the past like brain (worth noting in jp he uses the word 姿, which more vaguely means "appearance" instead of just clothing)

not to mention that brain does have his memories, while player remembers practically nothing

so it's basically just remus with his head in his hands going "maybe they're from the past like [brain] is? or... maybe not??" which is also exactly what i do when i think about anything in this series

i just- bobby from season one. who didnt want to be close to any of them. he wanted to pay his dues and get what he thought he deserved. but he got what he needed. a family. and now here he is, years later. he gets to be married again, may and athena have both called him a father, he tells hen that he loves her while hes working, he gives buck advice and is able to speak openly about AA. because it goes so much deeper than being friendly at work. they are a family.

“Peter.”

The boy can’t even look Tony in the eye. Not because he’s afraid, but because he’s tired. Defeated. The most he does is glance at his mentor like a sad, curious puppy.

Tony can only smile.

“You’re doing great,” he tells him.

Peter looks surprised to hear that, as he raises his head a little and actually gazes at the man.

“I know you don’t believe it with how much you’ve been dealing with,” Tony details. “You might think you’re failing, but I see your effort. You’re a hero both at school and at home… and well, everywhere. And I’m proud of you.”

It’s like Peter hasn’t heard these words in forever.

Because his eyes grow deep, his lips quiver, he begins shaking. Tony can tell there’s a lot of pain in there, as Peter covers his mouth once he starts sobbing, so he doesn’t make much noise.

Tony kneels in front of the kid, opening his arms. Peter immediately launches himself towards him, hugging him so desperately, and sobbing so much that it must hurt. Tony hates imagining how long Peter must have kept it to himself. How long has he felt like a failure?

Peter is so much more than “good enough”.

He’s doing great, amazing, even.

And the kid needs to remember that more often.

Tony will make sure of that.
