Finding different versions of people in different universes was not uncommon. There's literally a society uniting the different universes' own Spider-people, for God's sake. But Miguel didn't expect this. He didn't expect a carbon copy of his dead wife on a universe where Spider-Man did not exist.

He should've said he wasn't Miguel, that you were mistaking him for someone else. Hell, he shouldn't have stopped and turned around in the first place. He didn't know what came over him, but in a second, he had his arms wrapped around your body.

"Miguel, hon, are you okay?" You asked, your voice laced with surprise and concern. You had no clue that the man who was hugging you was not your husband. At least, not your husband in this universe.

Miguel grunted in response, his ability to string words together to form a sentence rendered broken by your presence. He squeezed you tighter. He couldn't believe he was holding you in his arms.

You weren't the same woman he fell in love with. He knows this. But he couldn't help himself. You looked exactly like her. Felt exactly like her. Sounded exactly like her. Shit, you even smelled like her.

Miguel could only chuckle in an attempt to hide his sadness. What was only hours for you was months for him. "Right. I did."

"Are you sure you're okay, though?" You asked again, eyebrows furrowing and the corners of your lips downturned.

"Don't worry about it, darling. I am."

He wasn't. But you didn't need to know that. You didn't need to know that in another universe, the two of you were married. You didn't need to know that you had a daughter together. You didn't need to know that he loved you and your daughter more than life itself, only for him to lose you both.

"Listen, I have to go. I'm having lunch with a friend. But I'll see you later at Doctor Nguyen's, okay?" You placed your hands on your stomach, a smile forming on your face. "I can't wait to see her again."

Miguel swallowed the lump in his throat before forcing himself to smile. Only now he noticed the bump on your stomach, carrying a different Miguel's Gabriella. "Yeah, me too."

1) I'm the biggest dinonara you know? 😭😭😭 I'm so HAPPYYYYYY (I have always wanted to be a dinonara representative for someone, lol 🥹). But yeah, I can tell you a lot about him, lmaooo. Okiee, one thing I really love about him is how well he adapted to Seventeen. You might know this but he's the oldest in his own family and the youngest in Seventeen. Now, being the oldest of my own family, it's really hard for the elder sibling to act cute or idk adapt to having 12 older members all of a sudden (especially because the older members are Seventeen and we all know how much they LOVE to tease Dino/Chan). But Chan adapted really well to this. He takes everything in stride and never lets it hurt his confidence and I love that about him. I also love how full of love he is. He laughs at everything, literally speaks all 5 love languages and he's just so full of love. Like, his happiness and love is literally contagious, like he has the ability to change a tense situation to a lighter and fun one by just being himself and I LOVE that about him. The most important one is probably his work ethic. Dino is a perfectionist to the core. Like, he works so fucking hard on his skills as an idol and he NEVER stops improving, it's insane. His skills have literally never stopped improving and he's grown so much since his debut and that's all because of how determined he is to do his best till the very end. I absolutely love that about him, it's so inspiring. Like he has done tours while suffering from enteritis, has worked while sick multiple times, he literally says that he can't look at himself in the mirror while dancing because all he can see are the things he needs to work on. Okay, hear me out. I am watching an edit for Before Sunrise. Suddenly I am reminded of how beautiful the movie is. It is an absolute favorite and yes I have a poster of it as well. Yes, I love it that much...But this one edit... I swear I have no words - literally that is what you experience - it is a slow film with talking and walking but that's the human life. Sometimes you make a connection and all you need to do is walk and talk - GOD I NEED TO WATCH THIS MASTERPIECE AGAIN (CRIES IN THE CORNER)

It's about stranger meeting and the one day that they share that chnaged everything please I swear I cannot process this film. I don't know, but now I WANT TO CRY.

Is it my favorite romantic drama? Yes, Before Sunrise and Maurice are both my number one favs.

God and the visuals are just - I love how we get a sense of how big the world they are in - They are both strangers roaming a strange land and the possibilites are endless. VIENNA FEELS BIG but it is also small. We see it in the smallest moments, in the people they encounter and the conversations they have....GOD NO I NEED TO SLEEP - THIS FILM IS JUST.....INTERNAL SCREAMING They talk about life - music - people - themselves and sometimes all they do is laugh and giggle and that is just....It all feels refreshingly natural and real and I CANNOT PROCESS IT

I seem to remember watching spirited away when I was really young, but I hated it for some reason? I think that I may have found it slightly scary lol. I then watched Howl's last year and was instantly blown away by the art style and animation! I started watched castle in the sky with my friend during class once lol, but the WiFi always would cut out around 4pm so we never finished it in class lol. He has recommended that I should watch Kiki's and Princess Mononoke too. I think I've seen people talk about Ponyo, is that a studio Ghibli too?

I'm actually so excited!! I am glad it's only 2 weeks away, I don't think I'd be able to wait any longer lol. It's inevitable that they'd be enlisting at some point, but I don't want it to be so soon 😭. But also at the same time, the sooner it's done the better! I'm so glad that Yechan and Sangyeop have already completed theirs though, at least it won't be everyone going away at once! (I'm so glad I'm not a Korean male though, just the thought of having military service constantly looming over me scares me so much, I wouldn't survive a day in the military lol)

I'm still going through all of Hyunsang's music, but it's been so good so far!! Although I will admit, I did have to stop listening for a bit because it was so melancholic and I needed to cheer myself up before I had to meet up with friends lol (I needed all the positive energy that I could gather to get me through a very social dinner lol). It’s been six fucking weeks since he’s seen them, and he’s trying to convince himself that this is another false lead, another dead-end, even as he presses his foot further on the accelerator. 

He knows the old motel he’s going to - it’s been abandoned for decades, with a cracked sign caked in filth declaring it the Rose Spring. It’s a thrice condemned shit-hole, untouched because of alleged chemical leaks or something that the government don’t want to have to clean up to sell the land off. It’s irrelevant though; the Rose Spring, like all the other falling-down, forgotten motels across the country, is a regular haunt for vampires looking to avoid the sun, to meet other travellers, to pass messages back and forth. 

He pulls into the motel, barely shutting off the ignition as he gets out. The back is laden with supplies, and he pauses only long enough to grab the bag that Esme has labelled with a big red cross. 

The stairs are flimsy and buckle under his step - no place for a human. Half the balcony has collapsed, and at least two of the rooms have crumbled in on themselves - probably in the last storm. 

Room 37 is tucked in the corner, and he doesn’t bother to knock as he throws open the door. 

Ollie is sitting on the first rancid, rotting bed and his face lights up as he sees Jasper, his arms stretching out towards him. He’s wearing filthy, mismatched clothing that aren’t his, and is sucking on a pacifier again, and for some reason that’s more upsetting than anything else to Jasper - he was just beginning to give it up before everything happened. And now it’s back. 

Maria is seated on the bed with Ollie, looking equally as filthy and surprisingly solemn. 

“You made it faster than I anticipated,” she says, standing up and motioning to Ollie as the bed tilts slightly without her weight. “He’ll be hungry, but he’s unharmed.”

Ollie makes a whining noise as soon as he’s in Jasper’s arms; a reassuring weight, but Ollie is about to start crying. 

“Where’s Alice?” He demands, rubbing his son’s back and hoping they can get out of here, and back north tonight; somewhere they can clean up and talk and he can make sure that they’re okay. 

Maria looks grimmer and motions for him to follow her out the door and into the next room. 

Ollie gets agitated, straining towards Alice the second they set foot in the second room. 

The scent of blood saturates the air.

Alice is lying on the bed, unconscious. There’s an angry wound on her head, and bother her arms. Some rough bandages have been wrapped around her leg, and it’s obvious that someone - perhaps Maria - tried to clean her up. 

“Alice?” His alarm is evident in his voice, and he almost hands Ollie off to Maria to go to her side before his brain clicks back into place. “Alice, can you hear me?”

Ollie’s reaching more and his whimpers are turning to wails as Alice doesn’t flinch.

“For god’s sake, give me the child, and deal with your mate,” Maria says, almost crossing. “I didn’t eat him before, I’m not going to eat him now.”

The race to the ballet studio is the longest journey of his life.

Alice can’t defend herself. She’s never fought in her life. When Maria came to Calgary, Alice had been carefully protected by Esme and Emmett. 

He’s never run faster in his life. 

The scene that he finds in the ballet studio is one that fills him with anger and terror, and his first instinct is to get Alice out. 

Not Bella bleeding out on the floor and screaming (oh god, he knows that scream) with an extremely broken leg. 

Or to destroy James, with his joker-smile.

Alice is standing over Bella, blood on her face and dress and hands, and she’s getting upset about it, a thin cry coming out of her mouth as she stares down at her maybe-future-best-friend’s blood smelling so tempting…

But when James laughingly steps forward towards Bella, Alice growls protectively. 

He swoops in, barely pausing as he grabs Alice and gets her out of James’ reach, smoothing her hair as he tries to look her in the eyes; but Alice’s eyes dart, never meeting his. Not a surprise that today would become a bad one, that Alice can’t communicate right now. 

(James was alone with her for too long; he hates himself for that. He’s terrified she’s been hurt in some way, that the damage is worse than being slathered in her maybe-friend’s blood. )

“Are you okay?” 

As soon as the words are out, James slams into him from nowhere, and he can’t worry about Alice or Bella in that moment. 

But all he can hear are Alice’s soft cries from where she’s standing in the corner.

#1: Navy Blue by Nightly

I can’t really explain this one, so I definitely shouldn’t be starting with it, but here we are! This song is truly pure vibes, and honestly it feels like the kind of song Stan would write when he’s mad pining but doesn’t want it to seem obvious. The irony? I hear it more from Kyle’s perspective (because duh, blue is Stan’s representative color so of course???) Idk man there’s just something about it that feels simple and sweet, but somehow a little sad, too? Yah feel me?

Yeah I can’t really justify this one with words. The girls that get it, get it.

#2: Anything For You by Ludo

Don’t talk to me about Ludo. I fucking LOVE LUDO. So slept on. This song in particular feels so Stan coded. Just listing all the things he’d do for his SBF. So fucking sweet and dorky, and feels so true to the lengths that Stan has gone to for Kyle. And the final lines of the chorus; ‘But the best story that I could tell is the one where I’m growing old with you’ UM HELLO??? SOULMATES??? UGH. Honestly the whole song is a masterpiece and deserves to be heard by more people.

#3: Bang The Doldrums by Fall Out Boy

I’d be remiss not to include FOB on this list, considering they were all I listened to while writing TSOB. This song in particular really fucks with the chorus, but y’all already knew that. I’m not the first person to associate this song with Style and I hope to God I won’t be the last. So so so good. I could literally talk for hours about how FOB just GETS IT. It is a love song, in their own way.

Seriously though guys listen to Fall Out Boy they’re really good and they aren’t just for recovering millennial emos I swear HEY WHERE ARE YOU GOING-

#4: 0X1=LOVESONG (I know I love you) by TXT ft. Seori

I know, it’s Korean. I’M SORRY but Tomorrow by Together absolutely FUCKS with this one I fear. The way Taehyun hits us with his ‘I KNOW IT’S REAL I CAN FEEL IT’ sends me into the stratosphere, and though I loved this song before getting into SP/Style (it’s co-written by my favorite member of BTS so of course I love it), it really shines in the context of Style angst. The gut wrenching ‘I know I love you’???? ‘Use me like a drug’?????? TXT fucking gets it, and they deserve so much love for giving me this banger to cry to while writing some depressing ass shit.

#5: Cold Cold Man by Saint Motel

Another massively under appreciated band, Saint Motel always hits. This song? Upbeat bop. Sunshine shot directly into my veins. The chorus feels like a warm hug, and I can just see those fucking DORKS serenading one another in the kitchen with it, living their sweet domestic life and just loving each other like God intended. Maybe the most perfect love song in history, so of course I’m gonna associate it with the most perfect Super Butt Fuckers. Obsessed.

#6: Somewhere Only We Know by Keane

I cannot be the only person that knows this song is MEANT FOR THEM. The quintessential best friend song, growing up together in a small town and knowing every inch of the other’s life. Shit gets complicated as they get older, but of course they always come back together because they’re SOUL!!!!MATES!!!! ‘This could be the end of everything, so why don’t we go somewhere only we know?’ Don’t speak to me. The fact that this song is NEVER utilized for Style angst on TikTok is my Roman Empire. I need old man yaoi set to this song IMMEDIATELY. Or some real angsty apocalyptic shit. I’m actually begging you guys, seriously.

Okay, totally random thought while I was watching the OP (I always watch OPs unless they’re particularly awful. It’s a compulsion idk) but I think it’d be hella cool if the blacksmith was Alyx. Whether the real Alyx isn’t the one who made it out or she came back for whatever reason (not dying ever is appealing to some, I hear), it’d be a neat twist

I’m not into 3d animation, so I can’t say a whole lot, but are the textures supposed to be this... weird? Last episode I said Jaune’s house looked like a ps2 game and it just keeps going

“I’m late! I’m late!” Okay, that’s a decent Alice in Wonderland nod. Not overdone or wink wonked, which can be annoying to those who don’t know the joke (man, I should watch Shrek again. The first two movies are masterpieces)

Why are RWBY so lackluster about doing literal life-saving tasks while Jaune follows a hunch? You’re Hunters, that’s your job. Quit acting like life in Wonderland is beneath you because you don’t understand it jfc

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many different visual styles in a single show before. There’s the standard 3d, the color silhouettes (solid and textured), some microsoft paint scribbles, a few 2d stills, and now this children’s book style. Feels like an identity crisis

I understand Jaune’s perception of the tree, but I really don’t like how he overrides the autonomy of the villagers. If they’re literally willing to self-mutilate in order to leave, that’s probably a sign that you should let them go

Love how Weiss’s interest in Jaune disappears the moment he shows signs of mental illness. Gives me the warm and fuzzies *smash cut to me barfing in a dumpster*

There’s definitely some interesting choreography going on but it’s hard to get a grasp on where everyone is at any point, and the bland environment isn’t helping. This “don’t ask me because I’m a leader” bit is really strange coming right off the several minute conversation about finding leads to getting home where not one person even looked at Ruby. Like, this was a request for supporting a platitude not a demand for a plan

“Why do I have to be the one to always pick people up?” First of all, no one asked you to, so jot that down. Second of all, bitch you have never been the sole sally sunshine, nor were you the only one helping others with emotions. Yang picked up Blake in V2, Jaune reassured YOU back in V4, Weiss talked to Yang in V5, Qrow comforted YOU in V7 and his main source of kindness was Clover (rip good boy). You’ve had your moments but don’t act like you’re the only one pulling emotional weight

Also, this voice acting is making me laugh I cannot take this seriously whatsoever

I’m not subjecting myself to V8 again), but it’d be so much spicier if the family divide grew in absence

Has to stop mopping the floors to take their order

Then gets more mad when he sees the dirty footprints on the freshly mopped floor.

but he likes having the later shifts cause he deals with less children

I've actually been thinking about this for a while in the context of games. this might be a long ask, I'm sorry.

so recently there was this game released, it's called Forspoken, the MC is a homeless WoC from New York who is chased by the law and the local gangs with the only thing she has to her being her cat, which gets taken away from her at the beginning of the story. She gets isekaid into a fantasy land and is understandably bewildered by this, but most people take issue with her being constantly angry, selfish, not trusting, and swearing a lot. Yea I wonder given her backstory why she's like that.

Now I won't deny that the story of this game is overall mid. The game is overpriced and performs poorly on PC. But do I hear any of those things when I see most people criticize the game? No! They just talk about how much they hate the MC. But!

Another game that released recently is Hi Fi Rush. The main character is brash, rude, overconfident, selfish, and flirts with other characters in a very cringe manner. The game even has a trailer with a similar marvel-like dialogue forspoken's teaser had. But people praise this character! They argue it's bc the game is more cartoony and plays on their nostalgia but I watched a gameplay and I absolutely hated the MC. I'm betting the reason is rather, even if subconsciously, because he's a white dude.

He even has a female sidekick who's a (blonde and blue eyed...😟) WoC. She's smart, inventive, and objectively a better character. But if she was the MC I bet people would have found a way to hate her as well. There's simply no way to win. At this point I just feel like people don't want to see women in leading roles. Because let's be real, while Forspoken's story isn't a masterpiece it is also leagues above most popular JRPGs (Xenoblade I'm looking at you). But those games mostly have men in their leading roles don't they now. When I look up popular female characters in games, most of them are silent protags, them being a woman is a (gasp) reveal! or they are simply side characters. if she is named as a loved mc it's likely that her role in it was controversial. This honestly depresses me. These people have no issue with women's writing when they're little above fanservice or even just there to titillate them. They literally just hate women speaking out or being their own characters.

i’ve only watched brief clips of forspoken along with learning the basis of the plot so i can’t speak my mind on how the game plays out. the protagonist did catch my eye, though; she seems unique, and a cool candidate for what is essentially a isekai protagonist. i knew the basis of the game’s plot, and although i wasn’t immersed, i was curious.

frey—the protagonist—is interesting, in my eyes. i don’t think the chosen bits of dialogue shown off in trailers and teasers do her justice; she’s not always throwing “well, THAT just happened” one-liners. she gets angry, justifiably so, because being transported to a whole other world when you just want to reunite with the one most dear to you is going to be frustrating. it’s going to be infuriating having things thrown at you and you just have to accept it.

now, i think criticism towards the game is justified. overpriced, like you said—and performs poorly for its price. the game doesn’t stick out amongst its genre. but frey is probably one of its redeeming factors? i’d say she absolutely is. it’s reasonable for her to be not the most accepting of her situation—she just wants her cat back! it’s a simple motivation, but a meaningful one because of her situation before all of this happened. a lot of hate targeted towards her doesn’t feel complete in what it dislikes. they just dislike her because… uh. uhm. the game is cringe and she’s an asshole. 1/10

i don’t know a lot about hi-fi rush so i can’t go too deep; all i know is i saw a trailer for it and didn’t care for it nor the aesthetic it’s going for. but the male protagonist is reminiscent of every cocky, flirty in a slightly obnoxious way male character i’ve seen a hundred times so i am surprised to see a lot of praise for him? maybe he’s not so bad but… what’s unique about him. everything i see him praised for, i see frey derailed for. if the argument is that the game is cartoony and nostalgic so it works in his case, then that’s hilarious.

i pity female characters because there’s just absolutely no way reception can be normal about them. female protagonists are treated as inherently controversial, or “special”: they can never be truly relatable, or just be. a female character will be subjected to sexualization regardless of any factor (and i mean any factor, because creeps are dedicated to showing pride in being creeps). i don’t doubt the female sidekick in hi-fi rush is already popular amongst an annoying subculture of people who cannot engage with female characters without pornographic lenses.

like female characters cannot ever be. blame is placed onto their writing even when it’s absolutely not the case. people will find any reason to hate them; if she’s nice she’s boring, if she’s mean she’s annoying. audience is dedicated to enforcing the belief that a woman’s worth is tied to her relationships with men—because that’s where a lot of “criticism” of female characters stem from. they can never just be.
